Some days, Hajime's self-loathing is no joke.
It feels like the heat in Jabberwock intensifies it sometimes. Sort of... bastes it. Like it's cooking in its own filthy greasy residue and making him feel all oily and gross and hot. So, so hot. Under that stupid sun he cooks, and he sweats, and he feels like they can all smell it on him.
Probably not though. He showers every day, and nobody gets close enough to try.
It makes him feel a little sick, is all. How much he wants you sometimes. He feels gross, barely a step above Hanamura or maybe worse. He feels like he should go to jail sometimes for the way he ogles you. It's a hot island, so sometimes you have so much skin out, shoulders and legs, gleaming from sunblock lotion, slightly tacky from the whitish paste. Or the sea salt in your hair, or the chapstick you'd loaned from Saionji on your lips, apple and cinnamon. Or the swimsuits. Hajime's mouth goes dry.
He does not want to think about you in swimwear. Because then he's not going to stop thinking about you in swimwear, and it'll lead somewhere bad, which is the whole fucking issue, really.
You're so new, the both of you. He's liked you for ages, but you've only been official for a month or so. He can't just pounce on you like a starving lion. Even though he wants to. Even though he really, really wants to.
He watches you sit cross-legged with Tanaka to feed his hamsters, or get a piggyback from Owari with her strong hands on your thighs, or sit down and braid Ibuki's hair into loving little plaits, your fingers skating over the pale skin of her neck and scalp.
And it does something to him. He imagines your hands, smoothing down the tawny skin of his arms, his waist, encircling his ankles, gripping his throat, buried in his hair. He looks at your fingers and imagines them balling up the stupid standard-issue bedsheets underneath you. He sees you stretch out your legs and sees them bent in half, over his shoulders, around his waist like a vice, your pretty eyes clenched shut, your pretty mouth hung open.
Heat pools in the pit of his stomach.
Avoiding you and taking a lot of cold—unforgivingly cold—showers makes for a good temporary solution, but oh look, hasn't he just shot himself in the foot and scored a home goal with it? Because it just means you come knocking on his cabin door looking for answers.
At night.
When everyone's asleep, and you're alone, and he's only wearing his boxers because of this stupid perpetual heat.
"Have I done something wrong?" you ask, your voice all small and hurt, and Hajime wishes the ground would open up and swallow him whole.
"No! Nonono," he blurts out in a panic, and he steps aside to let you in like a moron, like the idiot he so clearly is. It's not the first time you've been in his cabin, obviously, but it's night and you look all soft and vulnerable and he thinks you're freshly showered because he can smell the coconut bodywash you like to use.
But then reality breaks through because you look—honestly hurt, crossing your arms and shifting your weight from foot to foot, avoiding his eye, and then Hajime mostly just feels like a huge piece of shit.
"I'm sorry," he sighs, and pushes the heels of his hands into his eyes in a gesture of weariness. "It's—it really isn't anything you, uh, did. It's me. I'm just... weird."
"Weird about what?" you press, stepping forward. "C'mon, you can tell me. Whatever it is, we can just... talk it out."
You're so sweet. "It's—uh, honestly, it's just kinda really embarrassing. And stupid. And... weird. And I really don't wanna weird you out, or like, make you think I'm... something I'm not, 'cause I'm not, like, the thing that you're gonna think I am but I just—"
"Hajime." Your hands on his shoulders, clamping down. The warm soft skin dimples between your fingers. Hajime's voice dies in his throat. He stares on, cheeks cherry-red, entirely too hot, sweat collecting unpleasantly on the nape of his neck. "I can guarantee nothing you tell me is going to freak me out, or whatever it is you're scared of. And I can see it's clearly... weighing down on you."
You're so nice. Weighing down on you is such a nice choice of words. In reality he probably looks constipated from stress.
"It's just—" His tongue flicks out nervously to wet his lips, and your eyes absently flit down to track the movement, oh fuck, "It's just..." Bad idea bad idea bad idea. "I kind of... I don't want to come on too strong and... scare you off."
Your brow knits; he thinks he sees some sort of understanding fall into place behind your eyes, but it's kind of distant. "Come on too strong how?"
His blush spreads from his cheeks to the tip of his ears, down his neck. "I... ahaha..." The nervous breathless stupid laugh he gives makes him want to strangle himself. "Y-you know. When I'm around you, I..." He swallows hard. "It—I can't help but think about... stuff I shouldn't."
He sees the moment it clicks into place for you; the slight widening of your eyes, the parting of your lips. "A-ah."
Mortification floods him like a tsunami. "Sorry! Fuck, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I never should've—" He's burning alive, he's actually baking like one of Hanamaru's luxury strips of meat that he slowcooks in the oven for hours on end so the whole hotel building ends up stinking of fucking, chicken and stock and rosemary all day—
"Hajime, hey." Your hands squeeze on his shoulders. "Just—breathe for a sec, please, you're freaking me out but not for the reasons you think you are."
Hajime gulps, eyes you nervously, and takes in a few desperate pulls of air. He feels small, like he's actively shrinking.
"First of all. It's not... like, weird, you know, to f-feel that kind of stuff in general," you say, incredibly haltingly like it's very awkward for you. "But it's even less weird when you're actually, you know, in a relationship, and I—I don't want you to feel weird about this, that's all, or about telling me when you're—you know. Because I'd be down. I mean, to help. Assuming that's what you want, I mean."
Hajime stares at you. His brain abruptly throws up its hands, bluescreens, and goes for a smoke break.
"Wha—wha?" he says intelligently. You smile fondly, the kind of smile that reminds Hajime why he fell in love with you in the first place.
"Do you want me to help you out?" you repeat, very clearly, and Hajime buries his face in his hands. Heat shoots through him like liquid lightning, illuminating every pore of his body. He can feel it gather between his legs.
"You don't have to," he mutters, heart thumping against his ribcage.
"Hajime," you say pleasantly. "D'you think you're the only one who's had to hold themselves back?"
It's pure, unadulterated shock that makes him lift his face out his hands to gawp at you, but the moment he does you cup his face with both of your hands and kiss him. He wonders if you can feel the heat of his burning skin on your palms, whether you care, and then your tongue is in his mouth and he stops wondering anything at all. He groans softly against your lips, and finally his useless hands move and he's grabbing, curling a fistful of your shirt in one hand and cupping the back of your neck with the other. He feels like he's been depriving himself of you for so long, and for fucking what? You feel incredible.
He walks you backwards until your knees his the frame of his bed and you're unseated with an undignified yelp. You bounce on the mattress, peering up at him. Hajime swallows hard. "Is this... okay? We don't have to—anything you want, God, anything—"
You put two hands on his waist, just above the waistline of his boxers, and Hajime stammers to a halt. He gazes at you, wide-eyed, brilliantly red. You press your lips to the skin just under his navel and his stomach sort of convulses at the sensitivity, and you keep going, down the trail of hair that disappears behind the waistband of his underwear, kissing over the fabric until you get to—
Hajime jolts and swears. His hands clench reflexively into fists at his side. "Lay down," he bursts out, and then flushes deeper. "Uh... please. If you want to. I—"
You giggle and pry your hands off him, leaving him feeling colder than ever. Hajime watches, mouth dry as you drape yourself lazily over his bed. Your sleep short ride up your thighs, the collar of your shirt dips down, and all the skin is making his head dizzy. He clambers over you a little clumsily, hitting your knee with his with a thud that makes you wince.
"Sorry!" he panicks, hands fluttering nervously over your leg. "Sorry, did that—that was an accident, I—"
"It's okay, it's okay," you laugh, the back of your hand covering your mouth. "Jeez, Hajime. Relax a little maybe."
His flush must be crawling down his chest at this point. "Yeah. Maybe." He glances around. "Kind of hard."
"Is it?" you ask with a pointed glance at his boxers. He groans, but the levity is extremely welcome, makes him feel less anxious. Reminds him it's just you, and you would never seriously laugh at him. Reminds him that he's safe.
"Is it okay if I'm—I mean." He wipes his clammy palms surreptitiously over his thighs. "I feel better when I'm more... in control. Y'know?"
You smile up at him. "That's fine with me. Are you going to boss me around now?"
Hajime laughs feebly, glancing away. He thinks it's a reasonable pretense that the idea doesn't make him ten times wetter.
He kneels between your legs and kisses you. You're so soft, skin warm and pliant and fresh from the shower. He can't hold back a moan when your tongue slips against his, and when your hand slides over his waist again, the pinky finger of your hand grazing the band of his underwear, he finally plucks up the courage to grab your wrist and drag it.
He lets out a choked sound into your mouth as your pliant hand slides between his legs. Pulling back from the kiss, panting hotly against your mouth. "Okay?" he asks hoarsely. "Please, oh my god, I need... only if you want, only if you want to..."
Your hand twitches to life inside the tight grip of his fist, and you skim your fingers over the wet spot of the fabric of his underwear.
Hajime shudders, dropping his head into the crook of your shoulder. "Ah... oh, fuck..." His shaking hand drops your wrist, reprimanding himself fiercely for maybe grabbing you too hard, but you didn't say anything, but he shouldn't just grab you and lead you like you're cattle, he opens his mouth to apologise when you cup his cunt through his boxers and he loses the ability to do anything at all. Anything other than moan into your skin, starting to get salty from the heat and the proximity, and he goes delirious with the idea that he's ruining you a little. Like you've just showered, you'd scrubbed your body all over with lovely scented soap and he's going to undo it methodically, deliberately, and you're going to let him, when it's all over you're going to smell like sweat and him and you'll have to clean all over again.
It's an intoxicating thought, the idea that someone as soft as you would let someone like him mess you up.
Your hand slips under the waistband of his underwear, follows the trail of hair down and finding him soft and hot and dripping wet. Hajime curses as your fingers skate almost curiously over his clit, his folds.
"Oh shit," you curse, mumbling almost more to yourself. "Y-you're so wet."
He makes a high, embarrassed noise in the back of his throat, eyes clenched shut, and his hips rock up into your hand in a gesture that feels inherently needy.
Despite his grossly obvious urgency, you take the time to bring your fingers back to your mouth and press them inside. Hajime watches, slack-jawed, pupils blown. When you take your fingers out, they're gleaming wet, and you grin at him. "You taste amazing."
Hajime is assaulted with all new images; your head between his legs, his hand on the top of your hair or tangled in your hair. Your tongue, soft and skilled against him, dripping spit and cum onto the carpet, and he has to stuff his knuckles in his mouth to stop himself moaning out loud. Sweat drips off his forehead and lands on your chest.
"Y/n," he croaks. "I'm gonna lose my mind."
You smile almost shyly, as if you didn't just have your fingers in your mouth right in front of him. "O-okay. Okay. Just, um... okay, I got it."
Hajime swallows hard. "Y-you're still sure?"
"I'm so sure," you tell him earnestly. And with that your hand glides down, over his collarbones, the twin scars arching beneath his breastbone, down his tense stomach and under his boxers again. This time, your fingers move with purpose. They roll over his clit and down the centre of his folds, parting them, dipping inside just slightly before coming back up. He feels a shivering mix of pain and pleasure as two of your fingers circle his clit, an indication that he's almost too sensitive; he feels like he's on fire, like forks of lightning are emanating from the vertice between his legs, and he lets out choked, high noises against your throat.
Mindlessly, it seems, his hips roll against your head, seeking something more. You take the initiative to prod with one finger, dipping lower from the other before teasing at his entrance. His thighs shake and part slightly for you, and you slip inside without another word.
The breach feels like breathing for the first time; he's so wet and so sensitive that you slide inside with barely a hint of pain, easing in up to the first knuckle.
"Ohhh god," he groans, feeling mindless, feeling weightless. "Ohgodohgodohgod..."
"What should I—"
"More," he nearly begs. "I want you inside."
The word should be embarrassing, but they just aren't. Not in front of you. You get your finger in slowly, inch by inch until your knuckles press up against him and he's clenching the sheets with his free hands.
He almost convulses when your finger curls up like it's searching for something; it presses against a spongey spot inside him and he whines from somewhere deep in his chest, and he hears you swear to yourself as you start moving in and out.
"Nngh, oh—hah..."
Oh he's gonna die. Your fingers are inside him. He's gonna fuckin' die
One turns to two turns to three, your thumb rolling constant circles over his clit, sometimes catching so sensitively that he has to bite back whimpers. There's the stretch and the burn but even that is okay, feels good after a few moments. He feels distantly really bad that he's not touching you, but he will after, fucking hell he will after, whatever you want him to, he'd kiss the fuckin' ground you walk on for making him feel so good right now. All too soon he feels the familiar tightening in his stomach like a band.
"H-hey," he gasps out. "I think I—I'm c-close, so..."
"O-oh," you say, sounding equally breathless. "It's okay."
Your fingers push up into him, curling almost viciously into that spot inside him just as your other hand taps his jaw and guides his face to yours for a kiss. It's barely more than panting against each other's lips as your thumb presses down hard on his clit.
"Fuck, fuck," he cries. "Fuck, you're so fuckin'—so perfect—'m cumming, shit—"
He sobs out as he cums, alight from the inside out, shaking like he's just been hit by lightning. The pressure is so much that he needs an outlet, his finges pressing bruising marks into your hip and thigh, and he turns his head and bites down almost feverishly on your collarbone.
You tap his arm with a yelp, fingers jerking inside him as he starts to come down. He can feel his release dripping down his inner thighs and he lifts his head groggily.
"Shit," he mumbles eloquently, staring at the teeth mark on your skin. He didn't break skin, thank fuck, but he still feels mortified. "Sorry. Oh my god, sorry. That was—that was a total accident, I..."
"Ah, it—it's okay." You swallow hard. "Was that..."
Hajime shakes his head dazedly. "Amazing," he croaks. "Y-you're amazing." He gets the werewithal to roll off you with his shaking limbs so his weight isn't pushing into you anymore.
You let out a long, slow breath. "Was pretty amazing for me too."
Hajime glances at you with a trickle of amusememt. "Not yet it wasn't."
Your brow scrunches in confusion—but realisation dawns when you feel his hand slide up your thigh. In his eyes is a question, one that you nod hastily to. Hajime grins weakly.
"Good," he breathes. "As soon as I get my breath back, it's your turn." And it sounds like the sweetest thing ever when he adds, a moment later with a twist of that characteristic cockiness that leaps out at the most inopportune of moments: "I can't wait to see how pretty you're gonna look when I make you cum."

you're mine (but not really)
pairing: nagito komaeda x gn!reader (+hajime hinata)
summary: you ask nagito to be your date to a party. but he takes things too serious when hajime shows interest in you...
tags: fake dating / relationship, jealous!nagito, use of y/n, silly & wholesome fluff, nagito & hajime crushing on reader
nagito watched, as you laughed and talked with hajime, his heart twisting whenever you'd softly touch his arm or lean in a bit. he knew that you liked hajime. it was obvious to everyone but hajime. and nagito liked you. which seemed to be obvious to everyone but you.
nagito gritted his teeth, before forcing himself to look away. he knew you didn't like him the same way you liked hajime. he knew, he should've never got his hopes up, when you asked him to accompany you to this party and play your date, to get hajime a bit jealous. but nagito genuinely thought that perhaps this could be more than just pretend. yet here you were, spending your evening with hajime, when nagito should be the one by your side.
finally, he couldn't take it anymore. you had asked him to play the part of your date, to get hajime jealous, so he might as well do just that!
“who's this guy you're talking to, my love~?”
nagito surprised you from behind, wrapping an arm around your waist, while glaring at hajime. yet the second you looked up at him, he had the sweetest smile on his lips.
“oh, i haven't introduced you yet. this is hajime! and this is…”
“i'm y/n's boyfriend, nagito”
hajime had looked a bit uncomfortable ever since nagito joined the conversation, but now he had to swallow hard. he really did not want to get into trouble by flirting with someone else's partner.
“ah, i– i had no idea! it's so nice to meet you!”
hajime reached out his hand with a smile. nagito hesitated, before reaching out his free hand, his other one still holding onto you. he wouldn't let go of you, until hajime was gone. he'd play the part that you wanted him to play, even if it would ruin your chances with hajime. or rather, because it would ruin your chances with hajime. maybe you'd settle for him then…
“the pleasure is all mine, hajime”

🍀~Good Boy~🍀
🍋Sub! Nagito Komeada x Soft!Dom! Reader🍋
[🍋]
CW:Contains praising kink, handjob, self-degradation (we all know whose that’s coming from, just one time), orgasm denial, first time writing smut on this blog
“O-Oh..~ Y-Y/n..” Nagito said as he panted. He bit his lip as your hand went up and down on his member, he tried to stifle in his moans of pure pleasure as he closed his eyes tightly. He felt felt your thumb teasing his tip. “Mhmm..D-Don’t..tease me, Y/n..” Nagito stammered out.
“Now, who said that you could give such orders, love?” You whispered in his ear. “You wanna be a good boy for me, hm?” You cooed in his ear. Nagito whined at that. He leaned against you, you could feel his hot breath on your neck.
“R-Right…hmph..~!” Nagito panted. “D-Don’t listen—to a filthy..hngh..~ s-slut like me..-A-Ah..~!!” Nagito gasped as you quickened your pace on his cock, your hand gently squeezing it softly. You clicked your tongue as you shook your head. “Now, if your gonna do that then I guess I should just…Oh I don’t know—stop?” You said sweetly. Nagito perked up when you said that, shaking his head. “N-No..! P-Please Y/n..please let me finish..I-I promise i’ll be good!” Nagito whined out. You smirked as you stroked his cock faster. Nagito gasped as he felt your pace get faster, a slight squelching noise came from the fast pace on his cock. He felt himself getting closer, he felt himself about to go into bliss as his orgasm made way.
But it all went down when he felt your hand remove itself. Nagito whimpered at the lost of orgasm, trying to thrust into your hand desperately. “Y-Y/n..? Wh-Why did you..?”
“Do what?” You asked innocently. “Are you belittling how I do things in this form of interaction?” You asked, giving him a side eye, Nagito’s breath hitched. “N-No..n-not at all..p-please allow me to release…please i’ll be good..” Nagito begged, tears prickling into the corners of his eyes. You snickered as you kissed his head. “Awww, my poor boy, you wanna release? You wanna be a good boy for me?” You cooed. Nagito nodded quickly and desperately.
You slowly wrapped your hand around his cock and his breath hitched once more. Quickly, you started back at the same exact pace. Fast. Nagito gasped as he threw his head back as he let out choked moans of pleasure from his throat.
“Y-Y/n..~!! Oh Y/n~!!!” Nagito moans out, feeling his legs shake. He could feel your look of love but also excitement as you watched as he broke. He didn’t mind at all. It turned him on so much to be your cute little plaything.
“Oh—Oh fuck..I-I-I’m gonna..! I’m gonna cum..~!” Nagito moaned out. He felt that pleasure and that knot in his stomach, he felt his mind going into a bliss.
“Come on, love.” You whispered into his ear. Despite him about to cum, he still made room for him to hear you. “Cum for me. Be a good boy and cum for me.” You cooed out.
As if it was on command, he let out one last moan as he came heavily. White pearl spurts of cum t out of his cock. Some got on your hand as you smirked. Nagito panted, letting out some jolts as you stroked his cock a few more times before pulling away. You kisses him softly. “You did so good for me, Nagito. I’m so proud of you.” You said with a smile. Nagito leaned into the crook of your neck, panting. He felt his heart warm up at your praise.
Maybe his luck isn’t all so bad.

a/n: hihi first post on this site anyway enjoy chiaki x fem reader smut (my chance to revive the danganronpa community is at low rn..) my carrd if u wnna know more abt me > dun9eons.carrd
-
summary: you make chiaki mess up on a level and she punishes you for it (im nasty like that..)
CW (18+): smut, cunnilingus, make-out, fingering, overstim, wlw
words: 3.0k
fuck up, make up
You 're playing a game on your phone, trying hard in those team games and yelling at your teammates, so what? They 're bad and you're obviously better than them. Silently cursing to yourself for your teammates mistakes, you got a notification on the top of your screen.
Your face moves closer to the screen for a better look to realize it was from your crush Chiaki. Chiaki? Why would she be messaging you now? You knew around this time she would be napping, but any how, you opened to message that reads; “hi S/OOOOO, I just wanted to let you know if you could like come over to my dorm to hang out n stuff”
You started smiling at the screen in excitement, as you quickly typed back; “yeah ofc i can, js givr md a few minutes and ill be there!” You made typos along the way during type just a simple response, did Chiaki as your crush really affected your typing towards her? Jesus it’s pathetic. Your finger shook, leaning closer and closer to the send button, finally pressing it. You got up from your bed, packing your phone, console, and your dorm keys. You head for the door, opening then leaving, walking to Chiaki’s dorm. Chiaki’s house wasn’t far from yours, just a simple few minute walk from one side of the dorms to another.
You’re finally at her door, you knock a few times, Chiaki yawns, opening the door for you as she moves, making room for you to step inside. “Hey, S/O…” She gives you a small wave, rubbing her eyes as she holds a video game console in the other hand. Already in her pajamas.
"H-Hi Chiaki..!" You stuttered, you cursed yourself silently, why did you stutter? Just the presence makes you shiver, but she’s not even scary, she's the opposite of scary, you guess that you have a crush on her, who wouldn’t be nervous around their crush?
Snapping out of your thoughts you wrapped your arms around her neck as you buried your face in the crook of her neck.
Chiaki jumps a little at your sudden gesture, her eyes widening in surprise for a moment before she relaxes and wraps her arms around you in return, gently rubbing your back.
"Hey, what's up? Are you alright?" She asks in a soft voice, her breath warm against your ear. "You came all this way to see me, so I'm happy you're here, but is everything okay?" She looks at you with concern, her blossom pink eyes searching for your answer.
You pulled back from the hug with a little worried look on your face. “I’m fine, why?” You asked in a nervous tone, was it obvious that you look or act differently around Chiaki because she’s your crush? Who knows.. “Ah, sorry for assuming, you just look a little err.. Red?” Her hand reached up for your face, softly swiping off your hair from your forehead, as she planted the back of her hand onto your forehead. “You’re kinda burning up S/O, are you sure you’re okay?” “Of course I’m fine, don’t worry!” You instantly felt your face heating up and turning more redder, due to the contact and her basically calling you out. “Alright alright..” Chiaki's brow raises she's skeptical but she leads you into her living room, setting down the video game console on the table.
"Alright, how about we play a game together and then maybe have some snacks? What do you think?" She asks, trying to make you comfortable and ease the tension.
“Yeah sure, I wouldn’t mind that.”
As you settle down on the couch, she turns on the console and selects a game for you both to play. Chiaki joins you on the couch, sitting close to you, you and her thighs brushing against each other lightly.
"Alright, here we go.." She says, starting the game. She's quite good at gaming, her fingers moving quickly on the controller, emitting soft grunts of concentration.
After a few rounds, you notice she's leaning closer to you, her body pressing against yours slightly. You can smell her light floral perfume mixed with a hint of vanilla. Your heart races faster as she focuses intently on the game.
You stole a few glances from her, noticing how cute she looked when she was tense and so concentrated on a game. You looked back onto the screen, looking on her side of the screen, you noticed that she was about to break a world record score.
It’s to the point you 're way too comfortable with each other, so you thought it was funny and fine to elbow Chiaki on the side, causing her to mess up. The room was silent, until Chiaki finally spoke up. “S/O what the hell? Why did you do that?” She said with a frustrated tone, “I was about to break the world record, oh my god..”
Realizing what you’ve done, you apologized frantically, “I-I’m so sorry Chiaki! It was just a prank I swear!”
“Prank? And you thought that was funny? S/O I swear..” She trailed off when she said the last word to her sentence, you tried brainstorming ideas on how Chiaki can forgive you, she was your crush, and your crush hating you was the worst thing that could ever happen to anyone, so you finally spoke up. “I’m so sorry Chiaki, I-I’ll do anything! Please just forgive me..” You pleaded desperately.
There was a minute of silence, you noticed a grin forming on Chiaki’s face, you knew what you said was very risky, but Chiaki wouldn’t go that type of risky right? Well, that's what you thought, until she spoke up. “Anything? Are you sure you mean anything..?” She asked, leaning closer than usual. Your breath hitched at the sight of Chiaki leaning in, your faces a few inches away from each other.
“Yes, anything! Just please forgive me, that's all I want..!” Your eyes stayed on the pillows of the couch you were sitting on, your body filled with guilt and nervousness, you kept thinking to yourself; what is she going to do to you?
(W: Anything past this part is 18+ if ur uncomfortable, please skip through)
“Well then, if you say anything.. Then you wouldn’t mind If i did this, right..?” She leans in closer, her lips barely brushing against yours, your heart was beating so fast, you couldn’t even comprehend what was happening, even if she was right in front of you.
Both of your lips we're now connected, her hand resting on the side of your cheek, it started of slow and a bit shy, then you eased into it, Chiaki’s tongue desperately asking for entrance in your mouth, you opened your lips a bit more wider for her tongue, she easily slipped inside, claiming all of your mouth with her tongue. She was so aggressive with her kissing, you fell back on accident, all of your back resting on the couch pillows you were sitting on, and Chiaki on top of you. Her knee was slightly pushing in between your thighs, putting pressure on your sensitive area.
Both of you continued your passionate make-out, turning more needy every passing second, Chiaki then pulled her head back, looking down on you, still continuing to grind her knee against your sensitive area. “Uhm.. Why’d you stop..?” You don’t even know why you asked this, you 're just so needy and lusting for more from Chiaki, you never knew she was good at these types of things, is it because of the dating sims she would play? “Oh? You want more..?” She said, with a teasing smile, “I just have one more question for you S/O, then maybe I’ll give you some more.” “Yes, o-of course..! What’s your question..?” You waited in anticipation with whatever question Chiaki would ask you.
“Well.. S/O, do you perhaps.. Like me..?” Your heart dropped at the question, how did she know? Was it really that obvious you like her? You wanted to just end yourself right then and there. “I’m sorry S/O, but you made it pretty clear you liked me, even when you came right at the door, you were so flustered and all red around me weren't you..?” You took a deep breath before finally confessing, “Yes Chiaki, I’ve liked you for such a long time, I don’t even know how long, but I know that I love you dearly..”You finally realized what you said, you confessed to her, her on top of you, you can’t even tell if this is a good or bad situation to be in. You instantly bring both of your hands to your face, covering the growing blush, your eyes filling with tears and sliding down your cheek. Now you really wanted to end yourself.
“Oh S/O..” Chiaki noticed you were crying from the sniffling sounds you 're making, she gently took your hands off your face and rested a hand on your cheek, wiping away your tears.
You used your sleeve to try wiping off the tears, along with Chiaki’s gentle care, you stopped crying, but that didn’t stop your sniffling and your flustered face. “S/O, stop crying okay..? You didn’t even let me finish..” You wondered what she was going to say next, was she going to reject you? Accept your confession? Anything can happen. “S/O, I’ve loved you for such a long time as well, as soon as my eyes landed onto yours, you were so perfect, so kind, so gentle..” Your face filled with a red color even more than before somehow, you couldn’t believe it, she liked you back. You were hers. You didn’t even respond, but you put your hand on the back of Chiaki’s head, forcing her lips to connect with yours. It was yet another aggressive make-out, making a few soft moans during it. God, you were so aroused, you didn’t care about anything but just her, the thought of you being hers increased your arousal significantly. Chiaki started kissing further down, to your cheek, and onto your neck and collarbone, making a few hickeys along the way. Chiaki pulled back, she adjusted herself and was now sitting on top of your lap, admiring the marks she made on your neck and collarbone. Her hand slowly rises up from her side, placing her hand on your chest. “May I?” She asked, would you let her do such a thing? Her taking off your clothes? Yes. Yes you would. You nodded frantically, just being more in need of Chiaki’s touch.
With your confirmation, she kept going, unbuttoning the uniform to your clothing, taking off your blazer, and your white sleeve top, tossing them on the floor. You couldn’t believe it, your bra was exposed to Chiaki’s view. You didn't even care anymore, you just wanted her to touch you right then and there. She reached behind her, pulling the waistline of your skirt just a little lower than usual, showing the outline of your underwear. She took her hand off your skirt, then continued her attention on your chest, with your bra still exposed to her view, she definitely wanted to see less than that, so she reached a hand behind your back, unclipping your bra, she then brings her hand back, pulling down your bra, now with your perky breasts to her view, nipples hardening to the cold air of the room.
It took her a minute, leaning in, teasingly licking the tip of your nipple, causing you to slightly twitch and your breath hitching. Without any warning, her mouth enveloped your nipple, her other hand slightly pinching and twisting your other nipple to further increase your arousal and sensations. You let out a few whines and shaky breaths of pleasure, you could feel Chiaki smiling against your chest, she knew you were needy for her, she found it adorable.
As Chiaki was still busy with your chest, you could start feeling an awkward heat rising from the lower region of your body, you couldn’t believe you were enjoying it this much, you just confessed to Chiaki, made out, now having sex? It was like a dream come true.
But your thoughts came to a stop when she pulled her head back, you could feel her saliva traveling down your chest to your torso or down your ribs. She adjusted herself, now in between your legs. Being left with no touch, you were squirming a lot, trying hard to create some sort of friction, but with Chiaki’s leg still in between your legs and teasing your sensitive area, she believed it was time for attention for a different area.
She pulled your skirt down and puts the middle of her finger, slightly pressing it on your damp panties, she giggled slightly, you were so wet, so aroused. “S/O.. You’re so wet already, just from a little touching..” She teased, her fingers doing circle patterns on your panties, she could feel your clit pulsating in need. “Shut up..” You whined, you wanted her to stop teasing you, and just touch you on the place where you needed her most. She scoffed, playing with the waistline of your underwear, she gave you a look to keep on going or not. You nodded, and you felt her sliding your underwear down to your ankles.
She then cupped your pussy with her palm, feeling the warmth emanating from your needy pussy.
“Chiaki please..” You pleaded, you kept squirming, letting out a whimper, you really need her fingers inside you right now. “So needy..” She mumbled, she then placed two fingers on your folds, opening them for a better view. She then stuck in one finger, pumping in and out of you, teasing you in such an annoyingly slow way. It felt a bit uncomfortable at first, the first time both of you have ever had sex, so, she took it slow at the start, but a minute or two later, she gradually increased her speed, starting to become more aggressive and powerful, curling her fingers up with each thrust for that g-spot. You arched your back off the couch, your chest heaving, the continuous moans and sobs you let out. “Ngh..~ Aaahnn.. Ch-Chiaki..~!” She then added a second finger onto the first one, which made you make even more noises, she leaned into your neck, her fingers still pumping in and out of you. She kissed everywhere on your neck and collar, leaving more hickies. You desperately reach your arms out, hanging them onto Chiaki for dear life, the pain and pleasure you are enduring is so much, your nails are digging to the back of Chiaki’s skin. “Ch-Aah.. Chiaki..! M-More pl-ngh.. Please~!” You choked out, barely getting the chance to form understandable sentences, it was pure gibberish. “Mmmh.. Such a pillow princess..” She said, her hot breath against your ear, she did well putting you in such a lustful state, your mind was just nothing but blank but filled with lust and desire, all for Chiaki.
She added yet another finger, now making it three, the pure sensation of 3 fingers pumping in and out of you at such a fast pace made your eyes roll back. You felt the knot in your stomach tighten even more from each thrust from her. You were so close, you needed to release.
“Chiaki.. I-I’m ngh..~ Gonna c-cum..” You muttered, signaling to Chiaki that you were close. After Chiaki knew you were close, she went even rougher and faster. Not even a minute later, you finally released on her hand, your thighs spasming. You watched your cum slowly travel down to the couch’s surface and down your thigh. You glanced up at Chiaki, she had most of the cum on her fingers and hand, she then reached her hand out towards your face, stretching her fingers to see the string of cum stuck in between. “Never knew you could produce that much S/O..” She grinned. You said nothing, you were busy desperately breathing for air, your chest heaving. Chiaki then came back to her position, she looked like she had a thought to herself, not a good one at most, she was smiling in a way that you knew she was up to no good. She shifted lower, now her head in front of your dripping pussy. You instantly realized what she was doing. “Wait Chiaki.. I can’t last another round..” You said, still breathing heavily from your first orgasm.
“Mmh.. You want my forgiveness right..?” She grinned an evil smile, she knew the power she had on you, you were so submissive to her. You couldn't do anything but just sigh and comply with her.She smiled innocently, prepping both of your legs on top of each of her shoulders for easier entrance and view. Your pussy was still dripping from your intense orgasm just bare minutes ago.
She planted kisses on your pussy. Her tongue teasing your entrance, flicking her tongue up, causing you to let out a whimper. She then plunged her tongue in, exploring and expanding your walls. The sensation of her tongue just flicking inside you rapidly made you scream. You already felt another orgasm coming, and it was only one or two minutes since she started. You needed to release again, it was starting to become painful, yet still pleasuring.
“Chiaki.. I-I’m! Going to cum a-again..~!” You mewled out, your moans being mixed with sobs, you couldn’t take it anymore. You really needed release.
And with that, a minute later goes by, and you finally cum, producing even more than before. Chiaki carefully placed down your legs on the couch again, licking your sweet cum off her fingers.
“You did so well for me S/O, is this a warning that you don't mess me up again..?” “Of course..”
i wish chiaki could do tht to me irl istg

[...] It reminded him of that story Matsuda once told him. The reason why Hajime was there. How the scientists, wearing protective suits, entered the containment room one night, just to find Izuru Kamukura eating moths because no one had fed him in weeks. The little humanity that the superiors had left made them decide to call someone, someone stupid enough to risk their life to take care of the experiment. Hajime took 0.4 seconds to accept the job.

(NEW!) Super Danganronpa 2 boys reaction to: their S/O thinking they were going to hurt them - COMMISSION
You feral beasts have been asking for this for like two years LMAO. Someone finally commissioned me to do it so let's get it!
V3 boys version link
The reader's pronouns are never mentioned, so anyone can read this with themselves in mind!
Word Count: 13k words!! 4.8k of those words are Nagito's section alone, as the commissioner requested for Nagito's to be longer than the rest (Please show this some love my hands hurt)
Trope/Scenario: A couple is in an argument or stressful situation. One partner moves suddenly, maybe to ruffle their hair or wipe sweat from their face, maybe grab something or gesture as they yell, but their S/O cowers/flinches at the sudden movement, and braces themselves or cries out, thinking their partner was about to hit/hurt them. Then, the angst ends in fluff with the other partner expressing that they would never hurt their beloved. I will make variations to this base concept to spice up the piece and fit the characters because we DON'T do O.O.C. here!
WARNINGS: SPOILERS FOR ALL OF SDR2/SDR2 CONTEXT NEEDED TO UNDERSTAND SOME SECTIONS - additionally, SFW sexual content-wise, but mature themes are explored like explicit language, possessiveness, abuse, and unhealthy relationships. Remember, the games themselves are rated M.
Nagito Komaeda
It all happened so fast. You’d begged them not to do it. It didn’t need to go down that way. This never would’ve happened if they’d just listened to you.
It all happened so fast. One second your friends, your best and only friends, were piling onto your boyfriend, pinning him to the ground of the hotel lobby and the next, the world became an explosion of fiery red. A loud blast rang in your ears like a flash bomb or a gunshot fired off right beside your head without protective equipment. Kazuichi went flying, the back of Akane’s clothes were aflame. Fuyuhiko took on an expression you’d never thought you’d see from the resident tough guy of the group: eyes wide in genuine terror, mouth agape as he dove forward and away from the blast.
You begged them not to do this. Don’t corner him. Don’t force his hand. You knew him better than anyone else. And they didn’t listen to you.
You’d all grouped up before hand (minus Nagito of course) to discuss what to do about him. He was getting more and more unhinged as the days went on. Before the funhouse, everyone except for you saw him as a bit crazy, a nuisance, a freak but safe at a distance. Now… he was clearly a danger to himself and others. He knew something you all didn’t, and it was sending him into the self righteous hope power trip of the century. Something was so very different from the Nagito you knew and loved.
You’d warned them that it wouldn’t be like last time. He wouldn’t submissively let them tie him up in the old building and wait to be fed or released by Monomi. He was on the warpath now. You knew him. Once he got an idea in his head, that was it.
Fuyuhiko and Kazuichi had dismissed you immediately. You loved him. You’d do anything to protect that freak. They weren’t gonna heed your warning, because at the end of the day, you cared about him just a little more than you cared about the rest of them. Hajime and Sonia, even Chiaki - the more compassionate members of the group - had looked at you with pity in their eyes. They knew the last thing you wanted was to see your boyfriend tied up or hurt, and they felt for you, but at this point, the main focus had to be figuring out who put them on this island so they could escape, and preventing more death. Nagito was getting in the way of that. He needed to be restrained.
You never thought it would be like this, though. You knew he’d retaliate this time, that he’d resist, but maybe in the form of a struggle with his attacker: a punch, a kick, running away, hiding… not a fucking bomb.
As the explosion rang out from behind you, sending you leaping forward defensively, the world seemed to move in slow motion.
How could he do this? It’s one thing to fight off those who are actively trying to subdue you, but to blow up the entire hotel? He was really willing to hurt or even kill everyone too close to the blast, even those with little to nothing to do with the plan? What about you, who he claimed to love, who was his shining hope, who had been the only one in his corner at all times? He was willing to just blow you away as well?
Time sped up again, and you sat with your legs crossed in the rubble, ash and sweat smearing your skin. You just sat there, breaths hitching in your throat as you held back tears that threatened to fall. It felt like you were in a trance as you sat and thought this all over. Nevermind the flames at your back or smoke in the air. Why, why, why???
It wasn’t the little bit of blood running down your arm or the ringing in your ears that broke through your haze, but the clap of a hand on your shoulder blade. You turned and looked up at Hajime, dust in his hair and a cut on his cheek. The white uniform shirt he always wore was stained up and torn in one area.
“Hey, (Y-Y/N)!” He coughed, soot in his throat. “Are you alright? Come on, we gotta get out of here! Smoke’s not-” a beam collapsed behind him, startling him as he hooked his hands under your armpits and lifted you from your seated position. “Come on, this smoke’ll kill you!” You stood with his help, still halfway in a state of shock, and in truth embarrassment that the one you constantly defended from your group of peers had done all this…
“Is everyone…” you spoke weakly, your mind flashing to the safety of your friends.
“Everyone else is out. They’re safe, let’s go!” Hajime guided you out the way he came in looking for you, past a flipped couch and under a fallen beam. Once out in the fresh air, you regrouped with the rest, all in various states of shaken up.
Sonia immediately rushed over to you, ripping the red bow tie from her neck and dabbing the cut on your arm with the fabric before wrapping it around the wound. You thanked her with a nod. Akane, usually a bit scantily-clad anyway, had most of her remaining clothes singed off or torn. She looked more defeated then you’d seen her since Nekomaru’s death. She’d probably bounce right back soon though, knowing her. Fuyuhiko looked more pissed than usual, sitting by the pool alone. Kazuichi was being tended to by Chiaki. You overheard her saying Monomi would be bringing medical supplies and helping transport those seriously injured to the hospital for a quick check up. The students protested, however, wanting to stick together in the resort and heal up in their cabins. Your eyes bounced around the group, looking for someone in particular, though you didn’t know why.
Why? Were you truly that delusional? You must’ve been under some type of love hex. Had you Stockholm Syndrome’d yourself into being blind to his every fault? You couldn’t help it - you couldn’t deny the feelings you retained.
“Where’s…?” Your words faded off, thinking better of it. Maybe this was the wrong time. They probably didn’t want to hear about the dude who just tried to send them on a one way trip to heaven. It was too late, your words had been picked up by Fuyuhiko’s relatively undamaged ears.
“Are you fuckin’ kidding me?” He scoffed, yelling over from the pool. “He ran off as soon as he got the chance. Didn’t waste a second to make sure you were okay. You’re still worried about that asshole? He just tried to fucking kill us! You must be as crazy as him. I’m starting to think so, at this point…”
“Fuyuhiko…” Sonia warned, a small frown creasing her porcelain face. Fuyuhiko sighed deeply, backing off the attack. He didn’t mean that last bit, he was just frustrated. He threw in the towel, too tired to continue putting up a fight. The old Fuyuhiko would've laid into you a little longer. True to his word, he was a changed man. He shook his head and went silent, disappointed in you to say the least.
You were a bit disappointed in yourself as well, frankly. Why did you still want to see him so badly, to make sure he wasn’t hurt, to make sure he knew you still cared? You didn’t know what you’d even do if you saw him again. The mix of fear, confusion and foolish adoration was potent within you right now.
After assessing everyone’s needs and injuries, it was decided that you all were to go to your cabins and rest for the night. Tomorrow, you would go as a group to the new island unguarded by its Monobeast and resume the search for the truth and freedom.
“Everyone just… yell as loud as you can, or run out of your cabin and alert the others if… if anything happens,” He looked you in the eyes as he spoke those last few words. Hajime chose the phrasing carefully but you all knew what he meant:
If Nagito came around looking to further this deranged and deadly plan of his.
They said as he ran off he was blabbering on, yelling about the “end of Jabberwock Island” and such. It was pretty clear to the entire group that whatever he had in mind would mean chaos and peril for everyone still left alive.
~
Now back in your cabin, the sun had long since set as you continued to pace back and forth across the floor, from the full length mirror on your sliding closet door, to the entrance, then over to the small bathroom area and back again. You’d not even taken the time to shower and change your clothes. You were still a mess, your thoughts too busy to care about the blood and grime coating you.
Your mind raced, taking in everything that had happened so far in this nightmare of a class trip, taking in everything that could happen fairly soon.
Your mind bounced to Nagito, purposely being coy when you all needed his mind desperately during trials.
To Nagito, who actively tried to hurt someone in the very first trial, who offered to help a blackened if they ever needed him.
To Nagito, who held you close at nights and who you could open up to for hours. The same Nagito who you’d fallen for, body and mind, and who now was an object of fear and anxiety for you.
Were you really scared of him now…? Your Nagito?
A quiet knock at your door shook you out of your pacing routine. You figured it was Hajime, arranging another group meeting or maybe sweet Sonia coming to check up on you. Rushing to the door, you opened it just a crack and peeked out.
Your blood ran cold, a shiver shot down your spine. You’d never reacted to seeing him like this before. Not even close.
“Hello there, (Y/N). Oh wow, you look awful…” Nagito smiled gently at first, then the corners of his mouth slightly drooped, downturned at the state of you. You looked yourself up and down once quickly, now acknowledging that you had in fact forgotten to wash up, overwhelmed by the day. A moment passed with your heart beat picking up quickly, and you began to merely stare at him silently through the crack, unsure of how to proceed. Should you scream? Should you warn the others? Even if Nagito wouldn’t hurt you, what if he made his rounds to the other cabins and hurt the others? He wouldn’t hurt you, right? That assumption of yours was correct, right? You weren’t so sure anymore. “Well, are you gonna just stand there or are you gonna let me in?” He smiled innocently again before pushing his way past you and into the expanse of your personalized cabin. Your safe space.
“Nagito…” You let yourself exhale the breath you’d been holding in, turning to close the cabin door behind him. You hesitated on the door knob, contemplating making a break for it right then and there. “What are you doing here?” You tried to keep your voice steady and even, even as your chest thumped.
“What?” His brow furrowed, rounding on you as you closed shut the door and turned to face him. “What do you mean? I always hang out with you here!” Was he just not going to acknowledge today, when you literally could’ve died due to his actions? “I kinda missed it, you know, the smell of your cabin, your smell. Being in the funhouse all those days was such a bummer.” Approaching you in two strides of his long slender legs, he took you tightly into his arms, nevermind the dirt and ash that transferred from your clothes to his.
“N-Nagi-” your words were muffled into the fabric of his green jacket, and for a moment your spine stiffened, not sure how to receive the hug. You corrected yourself though, and relaxed, embracing him back. Nagito was volatile right now, extremely unstable, and you didn’t want to be perceived as disloyal, untrusting. Nothing to trigger him. He was clingy and needy with you quite often and that part you didn’t mind. You cared for him the way he was… but who he was had slowly been changing. Ever since he entered that damned Final Dead Room.
Nagito didn’t miss a thing, however, and you knew that. Your hesitation to hug him back made a blip on his radar.
“Is everything alright? How is my little ray of hope tonight?” He pulled back a bit, holding you at arm’s length to observe your features closely. This was so uncomfortable: the scrutinizing gaze, the sorry state of your body at that very moment, the sweat that began to bead on your forehead.
“Well, Nagito, you…” you wanted to soften the blow, and so took the initiative to this time hug him first, leaning your head onto his chest. This is what he wanted, right? Play along, don’t slip up. It’s funny, when your head rested flat against him and you inhaled his familiar scent, you felt that warm feeling that made you fall for him for just a second, until you began to finish your thought. “... today… earlier today… why did you do that? I mean… how could you, to me of all people? What if… I mean what if that explosion killed me?” Your heart beat sped up.
“Oh, silly, it wouldn’t have!” He replied as if the answer were obvious. “You’re my shining hope, my everything, and that bomb was only intended to disrupt the plans of those who were there to trap me! I was one step ahead my love. You were never in any true danger.” Ironic, as he ran a hand up and down the arm with the deep cut on it.
“Well, how would you know for sure? What if I were standing where Kazuichi was? He got the brunt of it…” you asked, but you knew whatever answer he had for you wouldn’t calm your aching heart.
“I relied on my luck, of course! It’s all I have to rely on now: you, and this useless ‘talent’ of mine.” His tone was bittersweet. His luck? He really left your safety up to his luck? Sure, you’d never seen it fail him before, but seriously…
“About that… Nagito,” you pulled away, expectantly unsatisfied with his reply and no less terrified of the inner workings of the man in front of you, “what’s made you feel this way, all of a sudden? Sure, our classmates were a little wary of you, but we were friends, all of us. You had them, too. What changed? In the funhouse you - well ever since the Final Dead Room, you’ve changed. In the trial, you said you’d learned about Hajime and how he doesn’t have an ultimate talent, and the secret behind the funhouse’s design… but there’s more you aren’t telling us… I can feel it.” Walking over to a chair beside your bed, you sat down, wrapping your arms around your middle defensively. You felt small and vulnerable under his gaze, which followed you like a hawk.
He didn’t like hearing that - that he’d changed - not from you. You were the only one exempt from his plans, even if you didn’t know it at the time. He loved you and you loved him, and he didn’t want anything to change about that. This couldn’t be just another thing that his miserable life ruined for him. For now, he ignored it, deciding that maybe letting you, the only one he could truly trust, in on his little plan would ease your mind and bring you back to him whole.
“You’re right as usual, my love.” He stood in the center of the room, gesturing as he began to get off of his chest all that he’d gleaned from his time in the funhouse. “How perceptive of you. My little hope is so incredibly smart. It’s one of the reasons I know you’ll guide this useless pack of idiots, including myself, to the highest potential our negligible little lives could ever reach!” How could you have guessed at that time that he meant when he and all the rest he deemed unfit were long gone, wiped from this world by his own will? “I’ll let you in on it, if my little bird promises not to chirp to the rest of the flock, of course…” He grinned at you as if he were a mischievous little kid about to announce a school prank and not a man dead set on getting his classmates killed. You nodded instinctively, not prepared at all for what you were about to hear. “Well it’s quite simple, really. We’ve known about the existence of a traitor for awhile now, right? We thought this entire time that the one of us who was not like the others was to blame for this entire thing, that the despair that ensnared us and caused death after death was caused by this ‘traitor’, right?” You nodded again, wanting desperately to appease him in any way you could. “Well, we couldn’t have had it more wrong, and as my reward for winning the ultimate roulette in the Final Dead Room, I was allowed this knowledge to share - or not share - as I please.” He was smirking now and your heartbeat began to pick up once again. You did not like that look in his eye. The pale planes of his cheeks began to get rosy with that self-satisifed expression he often donned when he knew his plans for hope were on track.
“W-what do you mean, Nagito?” Your voice shook and you sat up in your chair, shifting uncomfortably in place, a motion he noticed immediately. Again, he didn’t appreciate that reaction from you one bit. Why were you so uneasy around him tonight? His mind couldn’t comprehend it.
“Turns out, this whole time,” he held his arms out to each side as if surrendering himself to the powers that be, “It was us! We were the wicked ones. We were the despair, the disgusting evil that clouded all hope.” He began to chuckle at the irony that only he understood in his words. “This ‘traitor’ is the only one who can stop us! They are meant to save the world from the plague of our very existence!” He began to chuckle, a devious and unstable sound emanating from his core.
“H-how could you mean - I mean… Nagito, how could we be evil? Why would you think that? We have been working together to stop Monokuma this whole time. It couldn’t be -”
“Does it really matter how? It’s the truth! I know it is!” He cut you off, startling you as he approached and sank to his knees in front of your chair. Leaning in, he took your hand in his clammy, translucent one. He kissed the tops of your knuckles sweetly - a gesture he often did when you were alone together - and you went rigid, unsettled by his manic words. Another reaction he frowned at. “I mean, you believe me, don’t you? Have I ever been wrong before? Every time I tell you who the blackened is, I’m right! Every mystery I’ve uncovered on this island, every deduction I’ve shared with you and only you, has been correct! Every time I’ve been ‘wrong’ to them, I’ve chosen to play dumb. I’ve never lied to you, I wouldn’t!” He looked frantic, his eyes darting back and forth between yours. When you didn’t reply, he continued. “The traitor, they are the one, true hope for our vile and corrupted lot!” He smiled, again, as if this were the obvious conclusion one should draw from his words, but you just couldn’t see your friends as the monsters he portrayed them as. You couldn’t even see him that way. It just didn’t make sense. Maybe whatever he read in the Final Dead Room was just more lies, planted by Monokuma as a motive to sow more division. Nagito was too smart to fall for that…
“So, what is the solution, then… your plan?” You were almost too afraid to ask, having a good idea of what it would be. His frenzied grin softened into a straight and very serious line. You felt your stomach twist itself into knots.
“Well… we have to go, of course. All of us, except for the traitor.” He stated plainly. Eyes widening just a tick before going neutral again, you tried not to convey the abject fear in your heart. “We all have to die, it’s the only way. The traitor will go on, as the only ray of hope we have left.” With that, you yanked your hand from his grip, and his eye twitched in response.
He was willing to kill you all? All of your peers, your innocent peers who had been through so much already, together… snuff them out just like that?
“Nagito… you know who the traitor is, then…?” His head tilted at that, like a curious puppy confused at his owner’s words. “The one you’re going to spare, you know who it is?” Did it even matter anymore? At this point, the Nagito you loved was long gone. You needed to warn the others. His answer mattered to you personally, nonetheless. Your brow furrowed, your psyche overstimualted by this entire conversation. You pressed him. “Nagito… you know who the traitor is, right?” A little sterner this time, you waited for an answer that would never come. Almost as if he were too prideful, or maybe too ashamed to admit he would have to rely on his luck yet again to meet his goals, he ignored your question.
Chills running throughout your body, you quickly shot up out of the chair. Standing abruptly and causing the slender man to stumble back a bit, you steadied your shaking hands by balling them into fist at your side.
“(Y/N) -” Nagito began as he stood to meet you. Why were you acting like this? Didn’t you have the same goals as him? Didn’t you see the necessity of this plan? Didn’t you love him as much as he loved you? Didn’t you know that know that you - his unbreakable hope - the only pure thing on this miserable island, had to be the traitor? How could it be anyone else? He couldn’t be one hundred percent sure, as the file in the Final Dead Room didn’t name you specifically, but it just had to be you. It had to be. He would delude himself until his last breath.
“O-okay, Nagito, I agree! Yes, y-you’re right of course!” Play along, (Y/N), play along, your survival instincts screamed at you internally. Now it was Nagito’s heart that began to beat fast. He could sense a lie a mile away, and you knew that. Was he truly losing you? “Tell you what, let me shower, I can’t stand this filth on me for one more second.” You forced a nervous chuckle. “After that, I’ll meet you somewhere, um… away from the cabins so the others don’t find out, and we can discuss this further.” In reality, you were hoping that as you showered, he would leave to find a meeting place so that you could run to the other cabins and warn the others. He took a step toward you, and you took a step back in turn. He cringed at that, a hand reaching out weakly for your touch. It fell to his side when you backed away until your back was at the bathroom door and you reached behind you for the handle. “Okay? You go scope out a safe place for us to meet!” You looked for confirmation, fake smile still plastered across your face until your jaw hurt from clenching so hard.
“Okay, (Y/N)...” his heart broke at your willingness to lie straight to his face. You’d never done that before. You would always be honest with him, even with the silliest thoughts. You nodded in reassurance, slipping into the mini bathroom afforded to you by Monokuma and closing the door. It was a modest thing, a small alcove in each cabin with merely a shower stall, sink with a mirror, and toilet all snug into one tiny area. You undressed like the wind, ready to take the quickest shower of your life. Just a rinse for the blood and dirt, running the water long enough to be convincing and you were out. You needed time to run to at least a few of your classmates' cabins before Nagito got back. Whoever you got to first could spread the word. You slid the glass shower stall door open and jumped inside, not even waiting for the water to warm up.
Soaking yourself promptly, you began to scrub off the day you’d had with a small wash cloth nearby. Mere minutes into your shower, you heard the small bathroom door slam open. Freezing instantly, you halted all motion and stared at the figure in the doorway that was a blurry mess of greens, creams and whites through the frosted glass of the shower door. Without a word, the figure approached the shower door and you felt your body go into fight or flight mode, adrenaline kicking into high gear.
This was it… you thought. You were sure that if you were the traitor, you would’ve known. The traitor was still out there, hiding their identity, and now Nagito was going to do exactly what he said he was going to do. You had to go… hope for the world was the end goal that superseded romantic feelings. Your life flashed before your eyes, and you thought of your friends, and how you failed to save them.
Nagito threw open the sliding door, and you fell back against the beige tile behind you, hands flying up to protect your head and face. You didn’t know how he would kill you, but braced for an expected blow. Exposed, defenseless and naked, vital organs unprotected, you began to sob.
“No! Nagito, please!” You screamed at the top of your lungs as he entered the shower stall in a panic, clothes and all. He clapped one cold hand over your mouth, a hand that was shaking. Instantly, tears sprang forth from his own eyes. Were you really that scared of him?
“No, don’t scream, please! Please, (Y/N)!” He released your mouth, throwing his arms around your shoulders in a crushing embrace. The shower head continued to spray down, soaking him now along with you as he clung to you like his life depended on it under its stream. His wild, long locks clung to his neck and forehead and his wet jacket weighed him down. You both stood weeping onto each other freely, Nagito from a broken heart, and you from shock. You were too terrified to move, to care that you were completely nude. He didn’t seem to care either, crushing you in his grip. He was a lot stronger than he looked.
“Nagito… Nagito please…” you pleaded, still not entirely sure these weren’t your last moments.
“I can’t bear to see you terrified of me. You’re… you’re the only one…” He could barely speak through his choked out sobs. He shook his head vehemently, needy for your touch. His hands roamed up and down your back desperately. He needed to feel you there, to know you were real.
“What…?” You didn’t understand.
“You’re the only one,” he sniffled, “who shouldn’t be afraid of me! You’re my shining hope. You’re my light in this darkness!” Tears wracked his body. “Why would a complete and utter nobody like me, talentless trash undeserving of your love ever try to hurt you? I wouldn’t even dream of it. (Y/N), please don’t hate me. I couldn’t bear it!” His finger nails dug into your spine. He was conflicted, and couldn’t fight the swell of anger that contended with the sadness in his chest. It felt like you didn’t know him at all to think he would hurt you. You weren’t the despair he sought to end. You had nothing to fear.
“But, y-you said- !” You began and he interrupted, unable to hear any more doubts of his loyalty to you.
“I know you’re the traitor. I just know it! You’re too good, too perfect to not be…” You’d never heard him so unconfident in his own reasoning before.
“You can’t possibly know that, Nagito!” You spat back, limp in his arms.
“I do know it. I know it. I’ll bet my luck on it. I want it so badly, my luck has to come through. It’s you, it has to be! I could never kill you. I could never get you killed. The others are the despair, you’re the solution. I know it’s you. I’m gonna make it all right… just watch!” He stepped back, taking your puffy face in his hands, staring directly into your eyes. “You’ll make it out of here! You’ll survive the last trial and go on without me, my love. I know it’s you!” He was deceiving himself once again, daring to want something so badly, so selfishly.
He would never live to see just how wrong he was.
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu
You, your boyfriend Fuyuhiko, and your best friend Peko went way back. As a kid growing up on Fuyuhiko’s side of town, everyone knew to avoid Kuzuryu property. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately looking back at it, you were a pretty reckless as a kid, even if you weren’t now. You used to to slip through fences and past security cameras all the time to play with the blonde fuzzy-haired kid and the girl with the cool sword. Your parents scolded you when you came home, not knowing where you really were, but you always found your way back. The boy, who always had a temper, and the girl, who was the calm to his storm, repeatedly called you names, told you to never come back or his family would kill you, then played with you all day anyway. You had no idea what his family truly was, what the word yakuza really entailed, only that everyone said that part of town was dangerous. You didn’t see it that way, not when you played cops and robbers or samurai and peasant with your two best friends nearly every day. The boy, Fuyuhiko as you’d come to learn, would always rush you off the property if his father was coming home or when less friendly clan members came around, and you didn’t learn until years later why.
By that time it was too late for you to be scared of his yakuza status or Peko’s true strength now revealed to you. You were besties, and nothing was ever going to change that. Through middle school, you formed quite the crush on the petite bad boy, and although he still had a nasty temper and could be quite aloof at times, you wanted him all the same. A lifelong friendship bloomed into a romantic relationship - with hesitance on his part - and before you knew it, you were set to attend Hope’s Peak together. You kept your relationship secret from everyone save for Peko. Fuyuhiko insisted on this, for your own safety.
Now here you were, on this mysterious tropical island with all of your memories of Hope’s Peak wiped clean. You found that in general, many memories of your past were wiped clean, save for those few precious and essential ones. You remembered growing up with Fuyuhiko, your relationship with him, and Peko who you loved like a sister. Everyone else were strangers, strangers who seemingly also couldn’t remember how they got there or how you were all connected. You were all freshmen it seemed, and that was were it stopped.
Almost immediately after Monokuma’s appearance and monologue, Fuyuhiko had pushed both you and Peko away. He demanded you both pretend like you didn’t know him, treat him like everyone else and if need be, you’d meet in secret and away from prying eyes. This was to be a killing game with rules and trials, and no one else here seemed to know each other from their past. If the others found out you three were connected, you would no doubt all be dragged down if one of you got caught up in something nasty. Allies, a package deal and all that. He didn’t want your connection to him to put you or Peko in danger. He knew you’d both die for him, and he for you, and he wouldn’t let any of these idiots use that weakness against you.
~
The cat was long since out of the bag. Peko was gone and you’d helped Mikan nurse Fuyuhiko in and out of the hospital after his near-fatal wounds from trying to save the swordswoman from her from execution. Everyone knew of your relationship now, which meant no more sneaking around behind everyone’s back, but Peko’s life wasn’t the price you ever wanted to pay for that freedom. Along with Peko’s passing additionally came a visible change in your boyfriend’s soul. Though he still had that fiery temper, he controlled it with great effort now. He tried harder with people, forgave easier, loved better, appreciated more. The days of reflection in the hospital stirred something in him.
Weeks passed, and it was one tragedy after another. From the group giving you hell about keeping secrets, to tending to Fuyuhiko’s extensive wounds, to now finding Ibuki hanging from a rope and Hiyoko posted up against a pillar with her throat slit, your group couldn’t seem to catch a break.
Though Mikan and yourself begged him to get some rest - as his wound had already reopened once - Fuyuhiko insisted on investigating in preparation for the trial with everyone else. He was as strong-willed as ever. You searched the hospital with him for clues or evidence the blackened may have sloppily left behind. He was on edge, and you couldn’t blame him. Everyone was, these were the fifth and sixth classmates dead in the blink of an eye, and the killer was still on the loose. Your skin crawled and you were extra jumpy today. Every corpse you had to look upon took a little more of your innocence and vitality from you, and this maniac had already killed twice. What was to stop them from killing again?
Fuyuhiko insisted that he wasn’t scared of the blackened, quite the opposite. It was his rage aimed at them that would fuel his strength to move on and identify them. You knew him well, and knew when to back off when he was in a mood. Everything seemed to annoy him at the moment. It was hard to search with him and cooperate when he got pissed off everytime you fussed over his healing injuries. He kept swatting you away then apologizing for being irate and short-tempered. He just wanted you to stop babying him.
Just now bending over to search near a hospital bed, Fuyuhiko shot upright, jumping at a sudden sound that startled him.
“What the fuck-?!” He turned to the source of the loud crash behind him. You were splayed out across the floor behind him, a deep gash on your cheek spilling blood down your face as you sat up. “What the hell did you do?!”
“I just tripped! I’m fine!” You gestured with one hand to a small table you’d toppled over, holding your bloody cheek with the other. The contents on said table, various sharp little medical instruments and tools, were strew about and on top of your body. Fuyujiko glared at the hard counter top of the cabinet you’d hit your cheek off of on the way down. Now you knew how Mikan felt, always making a mess of her clumsy self.
“You’re a fuckin’ idiot! Why don’t you watch where you’re going?! We’ve got enough shit to deal with right now!” He kneeled down to your level and started rapidly picking up the various scalpels and knives around you.
“I’m sorry, ‘Hiko…” the shame was setting in. He was already ornery today and you’d somehow made it even worse. He leaned over your body, reaching for more of the small instruments.
“Sorry’s not gonna cut it! You-” hovering over you, he lifted one of the razor sharp tools above his head in a clenched, angry gesture. You turned your head, gasping slightly and flinching away from him. Your free hand came up to cover your face with your eyes shut tight in a grimace. Upon seeing you recoil, cowering away from him like that, he halted, the rest of his complaint dropping off into oblivion.
He didn’t want to be like that anymore, remember? He reminded himself of his temper, of his talks with Hajime in the hospital, of Peko’s memory urging him to do better, of his display of humility to Hiyoko in the hotel restaurant.
He cleared his throat awkwardly, putting the instrument aside and gently pulling you to your feet alongside him.
“Come on, sit down. Let’s get you cleaned up.” He pushed you gently down to sit on the hospital bed and reached for some simple disinfectant, a cloth to put it on, and a large bandage. He began to pat the blood away. “We’ll have Mikan look at this later to see if it needs stitches, but this is the best I can do for now.” He noticed you avoiding his eye contact and his heart sank. “Hey…” He held your chin, titing your head to look up and meet his gaze. “I’m really sorry, okay. I would never lay a hand on you. That is a fact. Please… know this for certain.”
“I know, I just… I don’t know… I’m sorry I reacted that way.” His apology helped, but you still felt a little foolish.
“No, it’s me who should be sorry. There’s no need to get that angry, especially at you, especially for an accident.” He sighed, running a hand down his face. He had a long way to go. “Please slow down. Be more careful and worry about yourself as much as you worry about me. I can’t lose you, too.”
Hajime Hinata
You’d closed yourself up in your cabin for good, with no plans to go out in the foreseeable future. Every few minutes you checked the locks, on both the doors and the windows, biting your nails down to nearly bleeding. In addition to shutting yourself in, you’d shut the world, the island, and all your classmates out. You were a nervous wreck.
Mere hours ago, Nagito had blown the hotel lobby and everyone in it sky high. He’d finally lost what little marbles he had left. Nobody knew fully why, but he’d snapped too far beyond repair. Both you and poor Kazuichi were very near to the blast zone, and even now you felt a dizziness and slight loss of hearing. You were sure that over in his cabin, Kazuichi was feeling the same way. You wanted to pass out, to scream, to topple over in exhaustion but refused to let yourself leave your post. As much as you were tired and dizzy, you were equally as terrified. What if that maniac Nagito showed up again to finish the job? Though the vertigo threatened to take you down for the count, you were determined to stay vigilant. Your mind grew more and more dull and hazy by the second, though.
Hajime and the others wanted to go to the new island in the morning, and as far as you were concerned, they could search until their hearts were content. You’d given up. You’d been broken. You’d been beaten by Monokuma and this killing game. Why go to a new island? Every time you guys went to a new island to explore, someone died. Everyone was dying. There was a psychopath hell-bent on blowing you up - or worse - on the loose. You were content to stay in your cottage and rot away. Paranoid and eroded away from trial after trial, you’d refused to let anyone in, even your sweet boyfriend, Hajime, who’d already tried to come check on you several times that night. Even as the rain poured down from the night sky and lightning cracked consistently, he kept coming back. He was extremely concerned about you, but you just couldn’t do it anymore. You didn’t trust anyone anymore. You couldn’t.
You trusted Teruteru, and Peko, and Mikan, and Gundham, and Nagito… it was all too much. Who would betray you next? Who would stab you in the back when you least expected it for a chance at freedom as a blackened who got away with it? It could be literally anyone. Sonia had a country to get back to, an entire country waiting for her. Fuyuhiko had an empire. They all had a reason to live and you’d be an easy target in this state of barely conscious, injured and mentally broken.
You’d almost fallen asleep when a knock came at your door, again…
You almost chose to ignore it, but figured getting your body moving would keep you awake, so you forced your feet over to the door.
“Hajime…?” You assumed, your voice weak.
“Man…” he sighed loudly, muffled by the rain and the barrier of the door, “(Y/N)... you sound terrible. I really do think you have a concussion. Please let me in. I’m worried sick.”
“Please go away, Hajime. I’m sorry… I’ll be fine. I just -”
“I know you’re scared. You know you can trust me.” There was that word again… Moments passed in silent contemplation. “... I’m gonna keep coming back until you let me in. I’m soaked… please…” he whined, jiggling the door handle on his side. Now it was your turn to sigh. You rested your head against the door, senses dimming fast. He was probably right, you most likely did have a concussion. Your head ached, your vision was a bit blurry, the light of your cabin bothered your eyes. “You can’t just stay in there forever, you need medical atten-” The door swung open before him, and you hurriedly signaled for him to come in, swiftly locking the door behind him.
“No sudden movements. I’m a bit confused right now… everything’s a bit slow…” Your words slurred out but he seemed to catch them all.
“Yeah, no shit. You were blown all the way across the hotel floor. Come here, let me check something.” He took your wrist and stood you in the center of the room in front of him. He pulled a small flashlight he won from the gacha machine from his pocket and flashed it into your eyes slowly. “Try to stand still.” You were trying to, but swayed and stumbled regardless. “See, you can’t even do that much. Look, since Mikan is gone, we gotta let Monomi help us out. Let’s get you to the hospital.”
“What?! No, no no…” your heart beat quickened, feeling that paranoid panic set in again. “I’m not leaving this room.” The confusion was hitting again as you stumbled backwards a step and your back met the side of your bed. Was this a set up? You already let him in, now he wanted to get you out in the open? “Something’s gonna happen! I won’t go!”
“(Y/N), I promise I’ll get you to the hospital safely and I’ll stay with you the whole time. I know you’re scared but you’re being irrational right now!”
A thunderous boom sounded outside as high above your cabin the lightning cracked. In an instant, all of the lights wavered and went out. You cried out into the pitch black. You couldn’t see even a foot in front of you. This was definitely a set up. It had stormed plenty of times on this island, and the lights never went out like this.
Hajime reached out for you in the dark, and you screamed even louder at his touch. This was it, the betrayal. It was inevitable on this hell of an island. No one could truly be trusted.
“(Y/N), stop! Stop yelling!” Hajime grabbed one of your wrists in the dark, and you sank to the floor, too dizzy to stand any longer. He heard the thud of your butt hitting the ground, though he couldn’t see it, and sunk to his knees beside you.
“Please… don’t hurt me, Hajime…” the words tumbled out of your mouth lazily. You wanted to pass out so badly.
“Hurt you?” He sounded incredulous, almost scoffing. Turning the screen brightness all the way up on his e-handbook, he set it on the ground beside you both for some type of light, as meager as it was, and sat the flashlight beside it. He grabbed your face in his hands, gently shaking you to alertness. He’d heard it wasn’t good to let someone with a concussion fall asleep. “I’d never hurt you.” He stated almost matter-of-factly. “You’re just going through a rough time right now... Don’t talk like that. You know I’d never hurt you. I care about you, a lot.” He adjusted your position so you were sitting up a little straighter.
It pained him to see you this way. This killing game was stealing your luster, your goodness, your spirit. He’d noticed that your smile - a smile he loved so very much - grew smaller and smaller with each trial. Now it’d come to this. You were frightened of even him…
“I’m so scared, Hajime…”
“I know. I know you are.” He spoke with compassion in his voice. “Will you let me help you? Please…?” He waited for your nod of confirmation before continuing. “Come on,” he scooped one arm under your legs and the other under behind your back and stood with you in his arms. “We’re gonna get you the help you need. I know it’s hard, but we are a team. You, me, Chiaki, Sonia, Kazuichi, Fuyuhiko, Akane, we need to do this together. I know it’s hard to trust after all that’s happened, but I’m gonna keep you safe, and we’re gonna survive this, together.”
Kazuichi Soda
Kazuichi sat in front of the busted funhouse elevator, ass nearly numb from sitting in that position for hours. He was squatting before, until his knees began to hurt as well. You sat behind him, handing him tool after tool when he needed it and offering encouragement and advice when you could. Still, he was being testy and very short with you and the two of you had gotten into it several times today already. Nothing big, just a few little spats. You had to keep reminding him that you were only trying to help, but nonetheless he was in a foul mood.
You knew he was truly mad at the situation, not you. His anger was misplaced but it still hurt. You’d all been locked up in the funhouse for days without food and with minimal sleep due to Monokuma’s interference and everyone was on each other’s last nerves. Now the elevator was broken, and the Ultimate Mechanic was expected to be the one to fix it. He’d been at it all day, and with each set back or miniscule perceived failure, he got more and more irritated.
You handed him a wrench you’d gotten from the hidden room beyond the Final Dead Room. All the tools he was currently using were from there as well. Oh yeah, that was another reason he was so pissed off. He’d never admit to it, but the fact that you were smart and brave enough to pass the Final Dead Room’s test unscathed and here he couldn't even fix this measly machine irked him like nothing else. He felt like the word useless might as well have been stamped onto his head. After he let out yet another frustrated groan, stretching out his sore wrist, you sighed and spoke up:
“Hey, Kaz’, it’s okay if you can’t get it done today. Let’s get some rest. We need to conserve energy.” He looked at you as if you’d just called him the biggest loser ever.
“That’s easy for you to say! You’re actually contributing to the group! You don’t have the burden of feeling like a failure on your mind!” He gritted his sharp teeth.
“You are contributing by even trying to fix it!” You retorted, not appreciating his tone or him starting an argument with you yet again today.
“Oh, don’t patronize me! You just don’t get it! Everyone likes you and you’re good at everything you try! I can’t even do what I was literally born to do correctly!” He spat.
“Oh, Kazuichi, give me a break! It is not that deep! Nobody even needs to use the elevator at this very moment!” You shifted your position right next to him, crossing your arms over your chest in a pouting display.
“If you’re not gonna help, then just go away!” He leaned forward toward you, raising the wrench in his hand in exasperation. You jolted backwards, leaning away from him with a fright.
…
Things got really awkward, very fast. The air went dead silent and all anger drained from his face. He lowered the wrench as a blank expression took over, followed by one of slight embarrassment. Did you really think he was gonna hit you with it? A moment passed, and you both looked away from each other, refusing to make eye contact.
“H-hey…” Kazuichi hesitated for a second, then made up his mind. Grabbing your shoulder, he seized you into his chest and held you tightly. His mind flashed back to his years in the family shop, to glimpses of his dad screaming whenever he angered him, even hitting him sometiimes for fucking up on a car. He might have even deserved it - he thought - but you didn’t. For sure, you didn't. He respected but feared his father, and he didn’t want to make anyone feel like that, especially not you. “I would never hit ya like that! Y-you gotta know that, right?!” His voice broke as he fought back tears. “I’m sorry for being an asshole today. This place just fuckin’ sucks you know? I can’t take it anymore!” You felt wetness soak through your shirt on your shoulder though you couldn’t see his face. You returned the hug, pulling him tighter into yourself. You two sat like that for a long while, resigned to give the elevator another try sometime later.
Nekomaru Nidai
You and Nekomaru were kinda… a thing? It was complicated because you were two very different people, but there was a little spark, a mutual crush that was known of and whispered about by the other students. It was weird, because you two flirted with each other, but nothing really ever happened because when he was around, you felt like a flustered mess, a puddle of mush. He was an intimidating, extroverted mountain of a man, and it was easy to become nervous in his presence. It’s like you were touch-starved, head over heels for your handsome classmate and yet the thought of him touching you turned you into an anxious idiot at the same time. You spent a quite lot of time together but there was rarely any touching other than a motivational clap on the back or the slap when you made a good joke, maybe even a very platonic-feeling bear hug as a greeting every once in a while.
In fact, you saw more chemistry between him and Akane, or even him and Hajime, two people he hung out with all the time. Heck, he touched Akane a lot more than he ever touched you. It made you feel a bit jealous, even. You felt silly even admitted this to yourself, as he wasn’t even your boyfriend and could do whatever he pleased, but it was frustrating nonetheless.
You wanted to be mature, to be honest and communicate your feelings with him once and for all because the pining, the unfulfilled feelings were driving you crazy but it had totally blown up in your face. Turns out your relationship with him was a lot more complicated than you originally thought. The talk ended up as a bit of an argument… well, it felt like you were arguing and stumbling over your feelings while he didn’t seem to be upset at all, which made you feel even more overwhelmed. You felt childish, unable to express yourself in a way that didn’t feel humiliating. He always seemed willing to talk something out, but at the same time didn’t really seem to understand how you felt in any other way than on a platonic level. He motivated, talked to, trained, and fixed people for a living, but maybe sports and romance were just too different for this conversation to click in his head. Or maybe… you were reading the signs all wrong. Maybe he didn’t like you back at all. Maybe you and your peers had misinterpreted his fondness for you as flirting, and you decided to accept that. You respectfully asked him to forget about everything you said, and apologized for the confusion and awkwardness, making your swift exit.
~
Sulking, dejected and needing some alone time, you walked along the lengthy bridge that connected Jabberwock Park to the island that housed the supermarket and resort. The sun was in the process of setting, leaving the island nearly dark with last last bits of daylight.
“(Y/N)!” You looked up from your navel-gazing to see a large figure bolting toward you at the speed of light. Nekomaru’s sudden appearance startled you even though you knew the guy to be loud and over the top. At that distance, you may not have been able to tell it was him in this little lighting if he weren’t yelling out your name. You’d recognize the voice from a mile away. As he finally approached, not the least bit out of breath, he began to speak immediately.
“Hey, (Y/N)!” He seemed a bit different, a bit less charged-up than his usual state. It was like a calm state of focus.
“Hey… Nekomaru.” You smiled weakly, still extremely nervous standing in his shadow. You had to tell yourself that you only felt this way because you liked him, and you had to let go of those feelings. “What’s up?” You twiddled your thumbs timidly, eluding the eye contact.
“I wanted to talk to you about earlier. When we chatted… well, I’ve been thinking about it all day. It’s been bothering me! So…” His brow furrowed. It wasn’t often he was speechless. “Uhhh..” he stalled in his deep rumble of a voice. He took a step closer to you, and you took one skittish step back. It felt weird having him in your personal bubble. It bred butterflies in your stomach. You began to shiver. It was partly because of the chill in the evening air, and partly because you dreaded confrontation like this. You feared he would make this more painful and awkward than it already was. Why couldn’t he leave it be? You weren’t his type, you accepted that! You took another self-conscious step back.
“We don’t really need to talk about it. I get how you feel, it’s fi-” a gasp passed through your lips as his massive hand suddenly flew down toward you. You flinched backward just a tad and felt your heel slip off the edge of the bridge. His hand found its desired destination around your waist and he pulled you in snugly to his wide, warm chest.
“W-why did you do that?” You looked up at him, your face pulsating with warmth just underneath the skin. He raised a brow apphrehensively at your reaction.
“You were shaking, so I figured you were cold. Plus, you were about to fall off the bridge. Two birds, one stone! Bet you’re warmin’ up now, huh?” He grinned down at you briefly before the wary expression took over again. “Hey, I know I’m a big dude an’ all, but you don’t need to be afraid of me or anything…” he mumbled and you could feel him speak from your position smashed against his chest. You looked down now, a bit ashamed that you made him feel that way. You didn’t know why he cared what you thought of him, but you could hear the slight hurt in his voice.
“I’m not scared of you, Nekomaru… quite the opposite…”
“Whaddaya mean?” What did he mean what do you mean??? Was he really that clueless? You literally had a whole conversation about this earlier today. Did the meaning of your words fly totally over his head… or were you just not clear enough?
“Nekomaru… I’m not scared I just…” you paused, debating just shutting up then and there, “I just get really nervous around you because… I really like you. Like as more than a friend…”
“You do?” Why did he sound genuinely surprised?
“I told you so earlier…”
“You did?!” He donned a puzzled look, and you looked up at him, incredulous. “No way!”
“I told you how I felt earlier, and you didn’t seem to feel the same so I let it go!”
“See, I told you it’s been bothering me, because I couldn’t for the life of me understand what you were so upset about earlier!” He threw his head back in one of his endearing, hearty laughs. What was that stereotype? Dumb jock?
“I mean, I tried to tell you, without being too forward or blunt. I was afraid you’d reject me…”
“Haha! Next time, why don’t you try to be more straightforward and honest with your feelings? It feels good!” He flexed the arm that held you close, giving you a good squeeze. You felt your cheeks warm up sheepishly.
“Like I said… you make me nervous…” you chuckled diffidently.
“Well, what do you say we try that talk again?” He began to resume the walk across the bridge, with you under his arm. “This time, we both be clear adn honest with each other?” His eyebrow wriggled rather mischeviously. “I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the results.”
Twogami / Ultimate Imposter
You’d spent nearly all of what little time you’d been on the island with Byakuya. You were starting to form a little crush on him, and he was rather fond of you as well (not that he’d ever openly admit it) so he allowed it. You of course knew about the Togami family’s power and influence, everyone did, so you found yourself a bit shy around him, but having fun at the same time getting to know him. You were a bit of of a people pleaser, both curious about him and eager to help if he needed it. There were times when you two simply hung out, like two normal people, and sometimes he even seemed to find you as fascinating as you found him. When he found himself asking one too many questions about you, however, he always seemed to reel it in, pulling back like he had some type of wall up.
You were fine with it. You’d just met a few days ago after all, and the friendship… or something more, would form when it formed. You didn’t want to force it. You were already feeling a bit silly and about wanting to connect with the Ultimate Affulent Progeny in the first place. Someone with his wealth and status could probably spend his time with anyone he wanted.
The threat of the start of a potential killing game was putting everyone on edge, even the scion himself, though he carried it better than most. He genuinely looked like someone your class might be able to look to as a leader.
The group had decided to throw a little party later that night, and you offered to help Byakuya tick off and confiscate all weapons or even potential weapons in the old building that would house this party… for some reason. Every loose wooden plank, every butter knife, every pointy object had to go. It felt like he knew something no one else did… but, you happily followed along, helping him with this task. Honestly, though, on the inside, you feared he was being a little too uptight. How would he enjoy the little get together tonight in this state of uneasiness?
In between locking up items he dubbed nefarious and double checking every corner of the building, you two actually got to know each other a little better. After hours of work, he was satisfied. All the while, he seemed to be watching Teruteru and Nagito like a hawk as the two shuffled in and out of the building preparing tonight’s dishes and cleaning respectively. What was Byakuya hiding from you? Why all the suspicion? Did he genuinely think one of your classmates would kill someone tonight? That was just insane to even think about.
Trying to ease his mind, you started up an innocent conversation.
“You shouldn’t worry so much, really! Tonight will be great! I know it. I brought my good luck charm and everything!” Smiling and seeking to distract his tense mind, you brought a little trinket out from your back pocket. In your flattened out hand you displayed a little baby blue pocket knife, barely the size of your palm. “My dad gave it to me when I was really little, and I -”
“What is wrong with you?!” Byakuya’s hand shot out toward you to grab the small blade and you flinched backward, holding your hands up defnesively and dropping it onto the floor in the process. The sudden, angry movement had frightened you, especially coming from a man who knew how to hold an intimidating presence.
The silence then was palpable as it hung in the air, and he, the real him, wanted to apologize, to explain himself and express regret for overreacting. He wanted to say that you’d been a joy to hang out with these past few days and that he’d never raise a hand to you, but Byakuya Togami would never lower himself to say these things… and right now, he was Byakuya Togami. He steeled himself to speak.
“I was merely going to confiscate the blade from you. What a gross overreaction…” He spoke condescendingly. “Do you really think me some animal, some lesser beast who physically assaults people? Don’t insult me so…” He scoffed, plucked the blade from the ground and pocketed it. “I don’t know what kind of men you’ve dealt with, but clearly you’ve been hanging around with the dregs of humanity.” Crossing his arms nonchalantly over his chest, he left you there without another word, satisfied that his facade had remained in tact. Inside, it burned, it hurt to be so cruel to such a sweet person like you. He left to make final preparations for the party tonight and you stayed behind, offering to help Teruteru and Nagito since you were already there. It would take your mind off of the humiliation you just suffered.
~
Early into the next morning, when Monokuma dismissed the survivors of the very first class trial back to their cottages at last, you’d nearly missed it as you crawled onto your bed in a tired, traumatized ball:
A rectangular black box sat on your bedside table. It wasn’t yours, and you were sure your cabin door was locked. How did it even get there?
You opened it cautiously and found the most expensive looking, elegant, and elaborate looking pen in the world within. On one side was the Togami family crest, engraved delicately and masterfully. Tucked under it was a small note. You read it, tears welling up immediately.
A replacement good luck charm - T
Gundham Tanaka
Gundham felt totally secure with you, a feeling he’d never truly felt with anyone else. He’d never state it in plain words, but it was true nonetheless. You’d always been accepting of him and his rather eccentric ways. He didn’t need to feel like an outcast around you. He felt completely seen, understood on a whole new level. He could’ve sworn you cast some sort of spell over him, the way his cheeks and the tips of his ears would feel like they were on fire when you complimented him or held his hand. He nearly burst into flames when you once pecked his cheek with your soft lips after he carried a bunch of stuff back to your cabin for you as a favor.
You two spent nearly every day together. Everyone knew you two were a thing and you didn’t mind the teasing. You had no reason to be ashamed of how you felt about Gundham. He was the kindest soul you’d ever met, it just took a little digging to figure that out. Other than Hajime and Sonia - the only other two who really tried to get to know him - you were the only one who he’d let tend to the Devas. You often held them, fed them, watched them in your cabin when Gundham showered or needed a short break. The hamsters and Gundham himself provided a much needed light for you in the darkness of this killing game. The little things you did with him mattered so much to you. You appreciated every moment when in this place, you could be very much dead the next day. You swam at the pool and went shopping at the supermarket together on the main island, ate at the diner together on the second, hung out at the music venue together on the third, and now, trapped in the funhouse with starvation as the motive, Gundham insisted that you share the sound-proof, luxury room with him.
You’d initially gotten extremely flustered by his request but eventually accepted. Gundham didn’t seem to think twice about it. You supposed he was so naive to romance that he saw nothing wrong with you two sharing a bedroom at all. Maybe he did know, but cared more about your safety than the embarrassment. You knew he’d never do anything without your express permission anyway, so after deliberating, decided it was a non-issue. It was unusual for Monomi not to pop up to protest, however.
~
Days into being trapped in the funhouse, you sat at the small desk in your room feeling like a total asshole. You’d been in an argument with Gundham earlier, one that you’d totally started and knew you were in the wrong for. You rarely ever had a disagreement with him, much less gotten into a full-on fight. It was a bit one-sided however, as you yelled and complained while he just tried to reason with you and ultimately ended up leaving you alone in the room for some space. You regretted it the instant he left, and had made up your mind to apologize the second he returned. You were miserable: starving and dead tired from Monokuma Tai Chi every morning, but that was no excuse for your behavior. Everyone else was hungry and cranky, too, and you’d taken your anger out on Gundham for no reason.
You pulled out the headphones and small MP3 player Hajime gifted you when you hung out a few weeks back and slumped forward on the desk, moping as you put the headphones in and blasted the music as loud as the cheap earbuds would allow. You had to pass the time somehow, and walking around looking for Gundham when he’d eventually come back here to sleep would waste what little energy you had left. There was a small part of your mind that wondered: what if he didn’t come back? Your heart ached. Everyone was starving… someone would have to kill soon to get out of this hopeless situation. You could only hope and pray that the last thing you said to Gundham wouldn’t be that hateful nonsense. You let yourself zone out, head down on the desk and eyes closed lazily. You began to doze off and wouldn’t know how long you were out.
You awoke to the music still blasting in your ears and a tap on your shoulder.
“Hmm?” Groggily you turned to see Gundham behind you. Gripped tightly in his gauze-wrapped hand was a large, sharp knife the length of your forearm. Your eyes widened and you screamed, taken off guard by the frightening sight. “Gundham, please, no!” It was a bit odd that he looked more shocked than you did as you backed away from him, falling off the chair and onto the floor behind it with a thud. Tears began to stream down you face.
You didn’t think it would end like this, but it was kinda of the perfect location. The room was sound-proof, after all. You just never expected a betrayal this cruel. Maybe you should’ve. After all this time, all of these deaths, it was naive to truly trust anyone on this island. Why did it have to be him though of all people? Maybe he had to do this. After all, the Devas were starving, too, and they meant the world to him. Getting out meant saving them as well.
Tossing the knife onto the bed, he rushed over to you, kneeling to the floor and tearing the earbuds out of your ears.
“What sort of demon has possessed you?!” Confusion coated his visage and the Devas hopped down from their master’s scarf and swarmed you, sensing your distress.
“What do you mean?! You just scared the shit outta me!” Fresh tears sprang forward with your frustration.
“That was never my intention, my beloved…” he shook his head apologetically.
“Well you can’t just pop up out of nowhere with a knife like that, especially in a situation like this! I thought you were about to fucking murder me!”
“I assumed you knew that I would never do you harm, so I didn’t see an issue with my approach… These other peasants would do well to fear my dark powers, but I thought you knew that my loyalties lie with you, dear one!” He pulled off one of his dramatic gestures. You pulled your knees up into yourself, suddenly feeling very stupid.
He proceeded to explain that while he was gone, he’d decided to take on the Final Dead Room in hopes of finding a route of escape from the funhouse because he couldn’t stand to see you suffer like this for a single day more. Instead, he came upon a cache of weapons of every sort and size, and begged you to keep that fact a secret. Pulling you to your feet, he sat you down on the bed and handed you the knife.
“Since I can not spirit you away from this hell, I have chosen to provide you with the means to defend yourself should I ever fail to. Hide it somewhere that is always accessible to you and no one else. And my darling, I beg of thee,” he pleaded, “cease all usage of that wretched machine!” He pointed to the MP3 player discarded onto the ground. “You must be on your guard at all times in this place, especially if the Devas and I are not there to guard you.” Your bottom lip quivered, heart swelling at his concern for you, even after you screamed at him earlier. You sat the knife down and threw your arms around him, collapsing into his chest. You didn’t deserve him.
“I’m so sorry, Gundham! After I sat here and bitched at you for no reason, you went out and still thought of my safety? I’m so, so sorry!”
“Think nothing of it, dear one…” He mumbled, burying his red face in his scarf.
Teruteru Hanamura
Most of the your other classmates were repulsed or at the very least annoyed by Teruteru’s antics. His behavior: overtly flirty and forward, even to the point of perversion, was a major turn off for most of the people he talked to, but you actually really liked him. You found his one-liners funny, his pick up lines amusing. He was genuinely fun to hang out with, in your opinion. He complimented you a lot, and you would playfully tease and flirt back. He really seemed to enjoy the matching of his energy, and though you’d only known each other for about a week, you spent a lot of time together. He was usually showing you some simple yet delicious recipes and letting you taste test his meals (of course with a lot of innuendos built in) and you would share your interests with him while you cooked together. You noticed, also, that the more time you spent with him, the less time he spent bothering the others. Maybe all he needed was a little positive attention all along.
Tonight, all of your classmates would be attending a party, both to socailize and ensure that nothing could happen because you’d all be in the same place, which would leave too many witnesses, therefore making a killing unlikely. Teruteru of course was excited to do what he did best and provide the meals for the party, but his mood seemed to be like a rollercaster that day. As you spent hours helping him cook, sometimes leaving to take breaks or talk to the others, he seemed to go from flirty to worried, salacious to nervous, confident to angry. His mood seemed to turn foul when Nagito would waltz by the kitchen, passing through as he did his assigned cleaning duties in the party building. You noted this, but it was strange, as you hadn’t known Teruteru to particularly dislike any of your peers… Did he have an issue with Nagito? But Nagito was so chill…
No matter the reason for his mood swings, you took them for what they were and tried to help out by offering an extra hand (which he made a dirty joke about) or changing the subject when he got gloomy. You could only do so much to stabilize his mood, however, and eventually he seemed to just be barking orders or frustrated with you. He was already in a bad mood and you didn’t want to contribute to it. You weren’t a true chef anyway and you were probably just getting in the way, you figured, so you took a big tray of finished dishes and began to make your way out to the dining hall.
Your shoe caught onto a thick chord just outside the kitchen door, just a piece of junk Nagito hadn’t gotten to yet and you tumbled forward, spilling the entire tray onto the floor. You gasped as you hit the floor, your knees stinging with the impact. Teruteru, who witnessed the whole thing, ran over to you with a shriek to make sure you were okay. The melancholy melted away, and checking on you was all that mattered.
“(Y/N)!” Mistaking his tone for anger because of his previously existing foul mood, you were startled by his approach, flinching away, shrinking backwards slightly. You fucked up, you ruined the dishes he spent hours making. He was probably furious with you. He stopped dead in his tracks, shocked by that instinctual response from you. With your reaction, he finally realized how rude he’d been to you all night. It wasn’t your fault Nagito was up to no good, and even knowing what he knew, he shoudn’t have taken his mood out on you. He was pushing away the one person who treated him with such kindness and respect on this island. His mother wouldn’t have been proud of that. “Take my hand.” He extended it to you and helped you to your feet.
“I’m so sorry, Teruteru, your food-!” You began to apologize profusely but he cut you off.
“I can always make more. I enjoy making more. Are you alright? You took quite the spill!” He smiled warmly at you. “I shoudln’t have been so… intense earlier. My apologies.”
“Oh I’m fine! It’s okay. But, about the food… are you sure it’s gonna be okay? Can we really make more in time?” He nodded enthusiastically in response. When you beamed back at him, he felt his inside twist into a knot.
He had to stop Nagito tonight. It was decided. He didn’t know how, or the extent of Nagito’s plans, but he couldn’t let him start the killing game with that knife he’d caught him taping under the the dining hall table earlier that morning.
Because… what if Nagito chose you, as his victim?

is it ok to request a short (danganronpa) caregiver!gundham + little!miu oneshot of gundham taking care of her after she tripped and hurt her knee? ;w;;
Miu Iruma wasn't known for being delicate. In fact, her abrasive personality, loud mouth, and constant tinkering made her seem almost invincible. Yet, in this moment, as she sat on the ground, sniffling with wide and teary eyes. The harsh sting from her scraped knee blurred her usually confident, sharp mind, and she regressed into a more vulnerable state without even realizing it
A shadow loomed over her, followed by a deep voice. "Human injuries are pitiful things... but fear not, for the Dark Lord of Destruction himself will tend to your wound."
Miu blinked, recognizing the figure. Gundham Tanaka, with his dramatic air and mysterious energy, kneeled beside her. His scarf billowed slightly as if it were part of some dark, unseen magic force. The hamsters—his Dark Devas—scurried across his arms, sniffing the air around Miu, sensing her distress
"Ouch..." Miu whimpered, rubbing her eye with the back of her hand as her bottom lip quivered. "It hurts..."
Gundham's eyes softened, though his tone remained grandiose. "Pain is but a fleeting shadow, little one. But do not fret, for I, Gundham Tanaka, Master of the Infernal, shall vanquish it with my sacred knowledge!"
Miu's mind had fully sunk into a more childlike state. She couldn't muster her usual witty, sarcastic comeback. Instead, she nodded, trusting him entirely. Gundham delicately inspected the scrape. His touch, surprisingly gentle, made Miu feel comforted rather than vulnerable
From his coat, he pulled out a small first aid kit. "My wisdom extends to the healing arts," he muttered, removing a cotton pad. As he dabbed her knee with disinfectant, Miu winced and let out a soft cry
"Easy now, mortal. This is a necessary ritual to banish the pain!" His tone, though still dramatic, held a soft undercurrent of reassurance. Miu sniffled again, wiping her nose on the sleeve of her jacket, trusting his words completely. "You're... like a magic healer, papa.." she mumbled, her voice much softer and smaller than usual.
Gundham’s cheeks dusted slightly pink, though he maintained his composure. "Indeed! You are fortunate to be in the presence of one as powerful as I. No harm shall come to you as long as you remain under my watch." He secured a small bandage over her knee, patting it with finality
Once the bandage was in place, he held his hand out to her. "Now rise, child of the stars. The Dark Devas watch over you, and you are safe" . Miu hesitated before reaching up, her smaller, vulnerable self clinging to the warmth in his words. As Gundham helped her to her feet, she didn’t let go of his hand, the contact comforting in a way she couldn't quite explain
"Do... do you think your hamsters could play with me ?" she asked quietly, her cheeks red as she stared at the ground, avoiding eye contact
Gundham tilted his head in thought, then smiled, something rare and genuine. "Very well. The Dark Devas are benevolent creatures and will grant you an audience. But you must treat them with utmost care, for they are ancient spirits of wisdom..."
Miu nodded eagerly, her childish excitement returning. Gundham set down his hamsters, who scurried towards her, sensing her gentle energy. Miu giggled, crouching down to watch them more closely, her pain long forgotten. Gundham watched silently, arms crossed, his usual stoic demeanor unchanged—but deep down, he felt a quiet pride. Though he would never admit it, seeing Miu, so fragile and trusting, happy again after her fall filled him with a sense of purpose.
"Rest easy, little one. For in my presence, no harm shall come to you." His words, whispered to himself, were a silent promise.

.·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ 𝐀𝐜𝐭 𝟑 *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙ .
It's already been a month since that horrid event took place. A lot of things changed in just a month. [Name], even though fully believing Nagito's words, came to realize the lie that he told her on that day. Nagito knew that this outcome would eventually happen, yet he wished that somehow, this would never happen. Oh, how cruel his life could be.
Now sitting on his bedside, Nagito glanced at the person sleeping on his bed. His grayish-green eyes carefully watched this particular [h/c]ette girl — her chest rising and falling in accordance to her soft breathing, her eyes swollen from crying hours prior, and the tight hold she had on his hand. The male's gaze softened at her vulnerable state, lifting his other hand and caressing her cheeks gently, moving away strands of [h/c] locks.
She squirmed slightly in her sleep and he paused his action. After she had settled comfortably once again, Nagito let a small smile grace his lips. He then gazed at the bright moon outside his windows, the winter season starting to shift into spring. Heaving a bitter sigh, the male leaned against the headboard and closed his lids. The flashbacks of the unfortunate event that happened just a month prior caused by his bad luck started invading his mind.
A day after Shiro's body was found at the central plaza, the doctors had already declared the male dead on arrival. Everyone at school — especially class 78 — mourned for the loss of the Ultimate Song Writer. Even though [Name] openly believed in the hope Nagito showed her despite the possibility of the other, she never felt this much betrayal and was devastated by one of her closest friends. She knew that what Nagito was suggesting was an unlikely possibility, yet she grabbed that flimsy hope and believed in his lie. Now that the truth was mocking her in her face, the only thing the [h/c]ette could possibly do was cry her emotions out.
Despite how close the reserve course student was with the late Shiro, Byakuya, and Kokichi were affected by it the most. Of course, Nagito knew about this — Shiro was the only person both of them could trust and rely on despite their troublesome personalities. They grew attached to him, and learning about his death was like a big slap to their faces. From then onward, Kokichi and Byakuya started to avoid the girl, finding no reason to get close to her now that the only bridge was gone. Hajime and Chiaki, although they still stayed by her side, also changed — Hajime started to become more and more reserved and spent less time with [Name] while Chiaki was constantly worrying about both.
A few days after that incident, [Name] and Chiaki realized that Hajime was expelled from school. This shocked both of them, especially the [h/c]ette as she had not been informed about this whatsoever despite how close she is with the boy. They asked their teachers about it, yet no one seemed to know the cause of the expulsion. Due to this, [Name] had experienced another set of despair. Despite Chiaki's attempts to reassure the girl and promise her that she would never leave her, this only came out to be just an empty promise.
Weeks after Shiro's death, Kokichi had come upon Fuyuhiko. The purple-tressed student demanded to know if the Kuzuryu clan was behind the death of the beloved student to which the heir aggressively denied any of the other's claims. Kokichi, however, wasn't completely trusting of Fuyuhiko's words. The two began a fight shortly after a couple of threats were thrown at each other. The situation escalated and brought classes 77, 78, and 79 into the clash.
When Kokichi tried to punch Fuyuhiko, Peko came right at the right time to defend her master. And when she was about to strike at the purplette, Mukuro had gone and protected Kokichi by Byakuya's request. The two fighters started a staredown of animosity flying between them. Soon after, everyone else came to the commotion. However, it didn't seem like the problem stopped them.
Once Byakuya's gaze landed on the head of the yakuza, he then declared to everyone in the area that it was Fuyuhiko and his clan who planned Shiro's demise. Of course, almost everyone in class 78 — especially those who had a deep connection with the late Sato — easily believed Byakuya's words. After all, he is the Ultimate Affluent Progeny and his family's influence enables him to investigate this matter. Even Kyoko seemed to agree with and believe him. And despite not being that close to him, some of the newest ultimates believed the blonde as well.
Kokichi, of course, tried to rile Fuyuhiko up and accused him of being a murderer, to which everyone in class 77 defended him. Due to the tense atmosphere and the accusation of murder being thrown in the air, a select group of people engaged in fights: some tried to harm the other, while some tried to stop them. Eventually, the brawl between the three ultimate classes alarmed the teachers and the school authorities.
They successfully ceased the fight, however, some students were not that fortunate to be let out without a bruise. Even Chiaki was injured when she stopped her class from harming their underclassmen. Due to her injuries, she had to spend some time at the hospital for recovery. It was by this time that [Name] was completely alone; no one was there by her side as her friends started to leave her one by one.
For everything that has happened, Nagito was there to witness it all. It was just what his role is: a bystander.
"How much can she take before she gives in to despair? How much more would I have to stay by her side and decide to stop because I kept causing her bad luck? How much more...until I die..."
Clenching his head, the silverette let out a bitter laugh. "How awful... Oh, how awful it truly is! Despite the despair, I always believed that hope would come out of it. That's why...you must also believe in hope, [Name]-chan."
"I wanted nights like these to linger. These emotions that I'm feeling whenever she's here right beside me, I don't want it to fade. For once...I wanted to be selfish and keep [Name]-chan by my side no matter what. Without ever worrying how my luck would affect the others..."
Opening his eyes once again, he then gazed lovingly at the object of his affection. He patted her soft tresses, weaving his fingers into her [h/l] hair. Whenever he was with her, all he could feel was complete serenity. It was like she was born to become his reason to live. The warmth that fills him whenever she's around, the butterflies fluttering in his stomach whenever she smiles at him, and the racing of his heart whenever he holds her close... all of those were precious to him. And once in his lifetime, Nagito vowed to not let any of those fade away from his grasp.
"You know, [Name]-chan... If you somehow become an ultimate, I would've called you the Ultimate Serenity," he murmured with a satisfied smile. After, he leaned down to her face and planted a chaste kiss on her forehead.
"Sweet dreams, [Name]-chan."
Ever since he met her, his life undoubtedly changed for the better. He was certainly glad that he followed his instincts and visited the Reserve Course building that time. He was glad that he spoke to her that day. He was glad that he decided to get to know her more. He was glad that he approached her and tried to comfort her. He was glad...that she came into his life. All of those emotions — those feelings he had hidden and tried to remove from his life just to cope with his luck — resurfaced naturally when he was with her.
It was like she was his healer.
"For all of those years that I saw nothing but gray...was now changing. Because of [Name]-chan, my present — and my future — became vividly colorful. The hope you've shown me...I wish for it to last."
Nagito slowly opened his eyes, immediately seeing the melting snow of the outside. He lifted his head, staring blankly at the blue skies before fixing his gaze in front. There she was, yet again, walking just a few meters away from him as she admired the snow around. The teen watched her back, following her as she explored the public park.
"I want this moment to last... I want this feeling to last... Hey... What should I do so that everything I have right now would remain the same?"
Nagito slowed his step, further lagging behind [Name] as she proceeded onward. He watched as the figure slowly moved away from him. His steps soon came to a halt. Removing his gloved hand from his pocket, the white-haired student slowly lifted his arm as if to reach out to her.
"Hey... Is it alright for me if I call out your name?"
However, despite his inner desire to reach out to the girl, Nagito only found himself dropping his arm to his side. He exhaled, dejected. He shoved his hand inside his coat's pocket, head hung low as he quietly caught up to his companion.
The 10-year-old child stood there still by the sidewalk, his gaze boring into the carcass on the street. His heart churned in pain, eyes dilated and dilated. Soon, tears were streaming down his face. His body began to tremble, and not long after, his knees gave up, and he fell onto the rough asphalt. The poor boy started sobbing, and soon his wails caught the attention of passersby and even his parents.
After the whole ordeal with his dead pet, Nagito was taken home by his parents. They told the boy to stop crying for the dog as crying wouldn't bring him back from the dead. There were no words exchanged between them as the silverette duly followed his parents' orders. There were no words of comfort, no acts of consolation, no nothing. It was like the dog's death was insignificant to them...
Dead, wide eyes of a particular couple were staring back at the male's gray-green orbs. Their vacant stare sent shivers down the child's spine, the pungent stench of fresh iron stinging his nostrils, causing him to quickly cover it with his hands. The corpse of his parents... those arms which were extended to him... those parted mouths... It was like they were avidly mocking him because of his bad luck that caused disaster for others. Soon, a quiet stream of salty tears came rushing down his pale cheeks.
The panicked screams of the passengers and the yells of the paramedics rang in his ears, and soon, the authorities came rushing towards where Nagito was.
After he had been freed from being kidnapped hours prior, Nagito continued on his merry way home. His grayish-green eyes scrutinized the lottery ticket he had picked from the garbage bag he had been abducted in. The middle-schooler chuckled dryly to himself, his heart was churning in pain yet he decided not to give it a mind. After all, he knew how many disasters and fortunes his luck could bring him.
The boy was practically numb now to the cycle, and he had already decided not to let his emotion out anymore, for it only caused him more despair. Pocketing the item moments later, a bright smile graced his lips... however, his dull and lifeless eyes told another story.
"When was it? When was the first time that I started to yearn for death? Because of the countless good and bad luck that I've been experiencing while growing up, I've lost track of time and even the sense of reality."
Once again, Nagito stood in the vast darkness. The male was back in a familiar place... the place where he witnessed his friends' deaths one by one. He would feel the uneasiness starting up, his pale face littered with sweat and his body trembled incredibly. A gasp escaped his lips, knees buckling as his upper body gave up. The silverette was kneeling in the middle of the darkness, hyperventilating with his hands clenching his aching head.
Vicious whispers invaded his mind, attacking the boy from every angle. It was like those voices came from the darkness, echoing throughout the entire vicinity. And what was horrible about this entire existence was that those voices belonged to no one but the people his luck had affected.
His parents. Those innocent people from the airplane. His classmates. His teacher. Hajime. Chiaki. Shiro. Byakuya. Kokichi. And lastly, [Name].
"It's all your fault."
"Because of you, we're dead."
"You're nothing but a worthless piece of crap!"
"Just die in a hole for all I care!"
"Why did I even give birth to you?"
"You insignificant being."
"You should've been the one who died."
"Hey... Maybe it was a mistake that I met you... Nagito-senpai..."
"What a lovely day, huh?"
A young man with pale skin and pearlescent fluffy hair strolled through the public park, hands tucked inside his green jacket as his gray-green hues glanced over at the foliage above him. The sun's rays seeped through the crevice of the irrigated shade and onto the snow-laden land below, making the white melt into water. The young man let out an exhale as he proceeded onward, exiting the forest of regular trees and unto the central plaza where a lone cherry blossom was kept and tended.
This scenario was familiar to Nagito, the only difference was the season when he had visited the park once again. Even though spring is just around the corner, there are still remnants of winter as evidenced by the fluffy white littering some parts of the park. Nagito sighed to himself, a pessimistic air hanging around him as he continued with his daily routine of going to his usual bench and watching the crowd.
A couple was standing underneath the infamous cherry tree, their fingers interlocked together as they watched the snowflakes float down the earth; a family of four was taking a picture by the other side of the tree; a couple of kids ran around the area, throwing melting snowballs at each other; and there's also a trio of friends walking past, giggling with smiles on their faces.
Just watching those countless people made the male somewhat... empty. Ever since attending Hope's Peak, he didn't expect that he would forge such a unique bond with a particular girl like that. Furthermore, his lonely days before due to his luck cycle were little to no concern for him nowadays. At least, that's how he still hoped it would be.
His gaze softened after a minute of watching those people. A sudden thought invaded his mind, making him sport a minuscule smile. He had imagined that same scenario playing in his head, although this time, he was with the girl he deeply cared for and was attached to...
Her precious smile... Nagito had imagined that smile on her face when she would successfully throw a snowball on his face. Her pink-tinted cheeks... He had imagined the blush on her face when he held her hand while they watched the snow from underneath the cherry tree. Her graceful laugh... Once again, the silverette had imagined hearing her laugh as they traversed through the park.
He let out another exhale, walking away with his head hung. Thoughts of the what-ifs were swirling in his mind as he quietly left the area. When he lifted his head, however, his gray-green hues widened in shock to see a silhouette of a particular girl in the distance.
"[Name]...chan?" he blurted her name out in disbelief.
Surprisingly, the person turned around at his call. The person was shortly revealed as the same girl he was thinking about moments prior. The surprise on her face was evident — wide, [e/c] eyes and lips parted. After a few minutes of both staring at each other, the girl was first to break eye contact. She greeted him with her usual closed-eye smile, sending a small wave as she sauntered over to where Nagito was.
"I didn't expect you to be here, senpai. I was surprised."
"Same here," he mentioned, scratching his neck sheepishly. Upon the [h/c]ette's arrival in front of him, he noticed a bouquet of flowers in her hold. He raised a questioning brow, pointing at the bouquet. "Are you...on a date?"
[Name] blinked twice at his unexpected question. She looked down at the flowers and she immediately knew what he meant. Chuckling, she slowly shook her head. "No. I bought this bouquet to give to someone."
"O-oh..." Nagito deflated, and his smile vanished instantly upon hearing her reply. The boy genuinely felt upset at that. "Who is it for?"
The [h/c]-tressed female regarded him with a wistful look, her earlier smile now curving into those of a bitter one. She gazed at the flowers as if they were fragile objects. "This bouquet...is for Sato-san. Since I wasn't able to attend his funeral, the least I could do is visit his grave and give an offering."
"I see... It's for the late Sato-kun."
"Wanna go there together?" the boy suggested, his smile returning.
The girl's face lit up like stars on a cloudless night. "I would love to have you come along, senpai!"
In just half an hour, the pair arrived at Sohansu Cemetery — the place where the Ultimate Song Writer was laid to rest. It took the two just a few minutes to locate Shiro's grave, and once they did, [Name] gently laid the bouquet on the gravestone along with the other bundles. She knelt in front of the gravestone, putting her hands together and closing her eyes to offer a prayer. Behind her was the silverette, standing with his hands tucked inside his pockets.
"I didn't expect to see your grave being filled with flowers... You really are loved, aren't you, Sato-kun? Well, I guess it's natural; you are the Ultimate Song Writer, after all."
Nagito's lidded eyes fell on the said flowers. There was a bouquet right next to the ones [Name] placed earlier, inside were an assortment of fresh roses, everlastings, pansies, and oxalis. Considering how exquisitely picked and arranged the flowers were, the white-haired ultimate could only assume that it came from Byakuya. Then, there's also another bouquet on the other side. This one was full of purple lilies. However, what truly caught the male's attention was the plethora of random purple flowers scattered around the grave.
Carnations, lotus flowers, daisies, roses, lavenders, violets —and others more Nagito couldn't identify — surrounded the slab. Even after months of the ravenette's death, there was still a portrait of him erected just above the gravestone — his violet eyes were glimmering with life, a relaxed smile etched on his fair-colored skin. The Ultimate Lucky Student was blessed with seeing Shiro's face again after he had died. And funnily enough, even the portrait was decorated with flowers — a flower crown made of sakura and wisteria to be precise.
Nagito concluded that whoever decorated this gravestone with this many purple flowers must also be the one who placed the delicately made crown on Shiro's portrait. And if the selection wasn't obvious enough, one may not be able to connect them to Kokichi. The boy chuckled softly to himself, imagining how the indigo-tressed troublemaker had gone out of his way to buy all of those and place them everywhere around Shiro's grave, almost covering the entirety of it.
"Sato-kun must be feeling happy right now when seeing this many flowers offered to him," Nagito mused.
"I'm guessing that Togami-san or Ouma-san — or maybe them both — visited Sato-san earlier," [Name] mentioned, standing up from her kneeling position and dusting her clothes. After fully observing the said flowers, she then laughed lightly. "Sato-san is really loved by those two... I can only imagine how heartbroken they were when learning of his death. When Sato-san was still alive, he was such a great influence on Togami-san and Ouma-san. Whenever he was with them, he could easily handle their distinct personalities and they felt relaxed around him. I'm pretty sure his classmates are also fond of him. And to see this many bouquets offered on his grave, there are no words needed to be said just to know how much they both love him. May it be just a friend... or even more than that."
"A love that is more than just friends... A romantic attraction towards someone..."
"Do you want to receive flowers too, [Name]-chan?" the male asked, curiously glancing down at the shorter female.
The mentioned girl only shook her head. "As much as I love to, I would prefer just being with my loved ones. I don't think I wanted anything more than spending time with those who are important to me... After all, one may only assume when they will last on earth."
"Oh..."
Silence ensued after that. Nagito's gaze was vacant, lidded eyes containing forlorn. Meanwhile, [Name] stood beside the silverette, still glancing at the colorful grave. The cold breeze picked up, making both white and [h/c] locks flutter along with the wind. A minute later, Nagito heard the girl sighed sadly.
"What's wrong, [Name]-chan?"
"Nothing... It's just..." she mumbled. Turning around to face her companion, she flashed him a forced smile, eyebrows creasing as sadness glimmered in her [e/c] pools. "Parting like this is truly heartbreaking... Leaving your loved ones behind... Being left by them... The bond that they shared... Every precious memory... All of those would leave along with the deceased."
At her words, the fleeting thought of their eventual farewell crossed the ultimate student's mind. It was brief, but along it was the feeling of heartache — his heart thumped hard in excruciating pain, his stomach churning with unsettledness. He soon frowns, mirroring the girl's expression.
It's already the day. The day where the ultimate class of batch 77 was to graduate from Hope's Peak. The day where each student whose talents were honed to become the world's beam of hope had their school years come to an end. Both the A and B class of batch 77 sat on their respective chairs by the front row as they listened to the speech of Headmaster Kirigiri. Teachers were lined at the side of the gymnasium, watching the whole graduation ceremony and their students.
Amongst the many graduating ultimates was a certain sickly male with fluffy, pearlescent hair. Just like usual, the boy was detached from his surroundings. He zoned out what the headmaster was saying, completely ignoring everyone else's murmuring and the claps of the crowd. At first, Nagito never thought anything in particular about graduating. He just considered it as a stage in one's life that must be done. However, he just realized how wrong he was with this thinking.
Graduation. The word held much more essence than Nagito could've thought. It has always been associated with parting and moving on with one's life. The precious memories one could've made during their time here... The special bonds one could've made with their peers... The irreplaceable moments one would've shared with others... All of those...would be gone as the individual leaves to finally tackle their separate paths.
Now that the boy thought about it, he then realized how much impact the words [Name] had had on him that day. The bittersweet taste of parting and the heartbreak it brings... Surely, Nagito is experiencing all of those now. His mind brought him back months back — right at the start of his third year in this school. Images of his first meeting with the reserve course student, the days he'd spent observing her from afar, the time he'd finally built up the courage to approach her, the moments that they had bonding together, the rare occasions he'd witnessed her vulnerability... all of those little memories immediately plagued his mind.
The silverette pursed his lips, trying his hardest not to be affected by it. However, his heart was telling him otherwise — it raced inside his chest, each beat harsh and bringing more pain than ever. His whole body was starting to swelter due to worry and anxiety. His face was restless — eyebrows scrunched together and eyes containing a gleam of bleakness.
"Calm down... This isn't like you..."
Fortunately, he did calm down just in time for them to receive their certificate. Chisa went to the whole class, smiling at them as she guided her students to the stage. One by one, the ultimates walked up the stage and the black-haired headmaster gave them their certificates after a handshake. Everyone in the gymnasium applauded for the ultimates.
Eventually, Nagito was next. He ascended the steps and trudged onward to the middle of the stage where the headmaster was. Jin told the silverette a few words and congratulated him for achieving this far in his life. Naturally, the Ultimate Lucky Student flashed him an aloof smile and received his certificate after a handshake. He then faced the crowd, gray-green eyes scanning the unfamiliar faces. In all honesty, he didn't know what to expect by doing this.
His orbs widened an inch when his gaze landed on a particular girl just by the middle of the crowd. The male saw her clapping happily, and when she saw his gaze locked on her, she waved at him with a smile. Nagito sighed in satisfaction, letting a smile grace his lips.
"Nagito-senpai! How's the ceremony? How are you feeling?" [Name] beamed, running up to him after the whole ceremony. She looked at him expectantly, eyes brimming with pure curiosity.
The mentioned boy sweat-dropped at her unusual enthusiasm, but nevertheless, it did make him happy. He chuckled. "It was nerve-wracking... Being in front of many people and letting them witness you achieve something was unexpected for me. After all, I never did imagine myself being in this situation."
"Wow... That must've been extreme then. The feeling, I mean," the [h/c]ette mused, puckering her lips as she pointed a finger in her mouth to think about it. "After all, you are an ultimate student at Hope's Peak. And almost the entire world was seeing you and the others graduate. Uwah! The flashes of those cameramen were so blinding that it was hard to see you in the crowd."
"Sorry... I may have lied to you, [Name]-chan. Honestly, I don't really feel that way earlier."
He chuckled, scratching his neck sheepishly. "I was meant to ask, but how did you come to the gymnasium? The place was restricted to only the school staff, Main Course students, and the press."
"Oh, that?" she cocked her head, a mischievous grin plastered on her face with a pink hue dusting her cheeks. "I may have snuck in. Hehe..."
Nagito's eyes dilated an inch at her words, blinking as he regarded her in disbelief. After all, for the one year he had spent with her, he didn't expect this particular girl to act like that. Soon after, he chuckled, bringing up his arms to pat her [h/c] tresses. Upon realizing what he was about to do, he stopped midway, internally hesitating whether to continue or not.
In the end, he quietly brought his arm down. "Do you wanna go on a date with a lowly bug like me on this marvelous day?"
"E-eh...?!" red bloomed on the girl's face upon hearing the word date. [E/c] eyes widened an inch as she stared at Nagito's aloof smile, baffled. "W-w-w-what?"
"Hehe... You're so cute, [Name]-chan," Nagito chuckled. "I asked you if you wanted to go on a date with me... But, of course, if only you wanted to. I don't mind if you decline my offer. I'm pretty sure that you have better things to do rather than this."
The girl shook her head rapidly, instantly dismissing his thoughts. "I-I would love to! But, is it okay for you to spend your last day with me? I mean, how about your classmates?"
"It's fine. I wanted to spend the day with you, after all," he simpered.
After the graduation ceremony, the two went out on an unplanned date in the city. Nagito took the girl to many places, surprising her that he knew a lot of locations. When they first went to an arcade center, the girl commented that she didn't expect him to know a lot of places, to which the silverette responded with an awkward chuckle, asking whether her words were a compliment or not. [Name] quickly rephrased her statement because of that, blushing madly for embarrassing herself and making him think she's insulting him. Nagito, of course, just chuckled at her flustered state and cuteness, finding himself blushing as well.
The two would engage in small chats, chuckling and giggling occasionally. They would do something together, and [Name] would often find herself wowing at whatever Nagito did, as he would unintentionally do something in their favor. One example was when he tried the claw machine after the girl's many failures. It was his first time to play it, yet, he had won four plushies, all of which were due to his luck. The [h/c]ette was truly shocked — after all, it was her first time seeing her upperclassman's luck at work.
For the entirety of the time he spent with her, Nagito felt the butterflies continuously fluttering in his stomach. He felt lightheaded like he was on cloud nine. The way his hand would try to weave itself to the girl's smaller ones — and although he would immediately stop himself just barely — up to the way his heart would pound whenever their bodies would make physical contact, Nagito was glad to experience such feeling.
His thoughts would wander towards [Name] and only her... Everything else in his surroundings was nothing but a blur.
Letting out a satisfied sigh, the boy once again closed his eyes for the umpteenth time that day. Ever so often, he would feel at ease whenever he did this. The thoughts that he didn't pay attention to during that moment came flooding into his head like a continuous movie. Those strips of past memories, future what-ifs, and even his emotions spring to life whenever he does this. And lately, Nagito knew that he wanted this to happen.
"[Name]-chan... I know that I may be a lowly insect compared to the other ultimates, yet, you see me as who I am. Even though our status in school differs — I as the Ultimate Lucky Student and you as the simple and talentless reserve course student — I found myself falling for you. I tried to comprehend the weird changes that happened to me ever since we met that day. At first, I thought it was just a simple attraction because you were the first reserve course student I met and became close with during my three years of attending Hope's Peak. You were intriguing... but it seemed that my attraction wasn't only based on that. Even though I don't understand you fully, I felt really happy that I was able to witness the different sides of you. And I'm truly happy that you accepted me as one of your closest friends here. You didn't shove me away... You tried to understand me... You accepted me. I...am really in love with you...and the tiny hope that resides within. Now that I realized how much you mean to me — and how happy I am to feel these emotions I kept contained for so long — I never wanted them to disappear. I look forward to a future that I don't have to constantly worry about and become afraid of my luck... A future with you there."
"Nagito-senpai?"
"Ah...that voice. A voice filled with sweet, sweet hope. It fills me so much with bliss that I'm so happy to hear it again and again."
Heeding her call, the silverette slowly opened his lids. Grayish-green eyes were met with [e/c] ones. He saw her staring back at him, a slight crease in between her eyebrows with her head tilted to the side as she regarded him with a worried expression. He chuckled at that, sweat-dropping with his hand rubbing his face sheepishly.
"What is it, [Name]-chan?"
"Are you alright?" she asked, frowning with concern.
The male gently simpered at her. "I'm fine. There's no need to worry."
"Oh..." she mumbled, returning her gaze toward where they were heading. She peered back at him and smiled softly. "I was just wondering if you might be sad."
"Why did you think of that?" he questioned, genuinely perplexed by her thought process sometimes.
She merely shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know — maybe because you can't spend your last day with your whole class?"
He chuckled at her answer, but nevertheless, he felt his heart fluttering at her constant concern for him. Seeing how he reacted to her question, [Name] slowed her pace to match with the lagging male. They walked side by side, a comfortable silence enveloping the two soon after.
"You're everything that matters to me right now, [Name]-chan. I couldn't wish for something else."
"H-huh...?"
Widened [e/c] pools blinked in surprise at the sudden large and cold hands enveloping her small warm ones. Her gaze was fixated on the hand clasping around hers, and then slowly she trailed her attention towards the male who did the act. Cheeks burning, she cautiously lifted her head only to be met with the serious face of her frost-haired upperclassman. Nagito's expression was surprisingly serious, in contrast to his usual aloofness. Those gray-green eyes that were gleaming with enough conviction stared at her confused [e/c] orbs.
After a few moments of staring at each others' pools, Nagito seems to snap out of his trance. His eyes softened, however, he didn't let go of her hands. Lifting it just above his chest, he weaved his fingers with hers. The girl's blush bloomed due to the embarrassing situation. But, she remained silent while watching whatever the boy was planning to do next. Pink hue also decorated the boy's pale face, and soon a minuscule smile decorated his lips.
By the empty sidewalk stood two teenagers — a male of slender and tall stature with wavy white hair and a pale complexion and a female of petite body with [h/l] [h/c] hair. The setting sun provided a change in the scenery as the warm colors of yellow and orange enveloped the evening skies. A breeze passed by, causing their hair to flutter in its direction and providing a natural melody in the place.
Slowly inching his face toward the girl he held a deep affection for, Nagito let their foreheads touch. His orbs bored deeply into those mesmerizing pools of hers, gazing at her lovingly. With a soft whisper, he muttered the words he wished to convey to her days before.
"[Name]-chan... I love you."

Reactions (Nagito Komaeda x Reader)
Requested by: @Len
Over the time that you and Nagito had been together, you had found yourself falling even more in love with him and all of his adorable reactions. He hadn't been shown any sort of affection in years, and he was always thankful for any sort of attention you gave him.
That Saturday had started off rather peaceful, the two of you opting to stay inside for the day. The two of you had been cuddling in bed before you had decided that you were going to attempt to fix breakfast.
"Hey Nagito, what would you like to eat?" you called as you threw on a plain shirt and looked over your shoulder. Once he had given you an answer, you padded over to the kitchen to fix breakfast. The duty fell on you since Nagito's luck could very possibly go awry.
Once the breakfast was cooking, you moved over to the dining room, where Nagito was setting up the table. You moved over to wrap your arms around his waist, letting out a soft giggle when your boyfriend let out a soft chuckle.
"Are you sure that you want to hold onto trash like me?" he asked, setting down the final utensil and turning his head to look behind himself.
"Yes, I'm positively sure. Plus, you're not trash. You're my handsome boyfriend~" you responded, watching as his cheeks pinked in response. "Come on. We still have some time to cuddle before breakfast is ready."
"With my luck, the house is going to burn down," he tried to say as you pulled him in the direction of the living room. "(Y/n), you shouldn't try to test Lady Luck."
"I've got an eye out on it," you assured him as you wrapped your arms around him and pulled him to your body. "I love you, you know?"
"I love you too... I know that I'm lucky, but I would have never guessed that a divine entity like yourself would stoop so low as to get into a relationship with garbage-"
"Remember what I said?" you softly responded as you leaned up to kiss his forehead. His cheeks pinked once again as you cooed out how much you loved him. "Now, come on. Breakfast is almost ready."
With one final kiss, you got up and moved back towards the kitchen. Nagito stared at your retreating form with pure love in his eyes and a soft smile on his lips.
"I am so lucky..." he murmured to himself before getting up to help you with the plates.

SDR2 - Halloween Special 2023
Summary: “As the victim of an honestly moronic prank, you end up somewhere you’d rather not be. Your fear and annoyance keep you chugging along, but, man… you just want to go home.”
Word Count: ~12k
“Ugh, this is just the worst…”
The tapping of your shoes against the tiled floor echoed as you walked through the halls of the abandoned school building, your only source of light being your phone’s flashlight; the beam of light shook with each step you took, illuminating everything ahead of you — the cracked tiles of the floor, the peeling paint on the walls, the dust floating in the air. None of it was an ideal sight.
The thought of being stuck here, in a supposedly-haunted, crumbling old building, would have terrified you if you weren’t already annoyed by how you got into this situation in the first place.
It was more than obvious to you at this point that those so-called new “friends” of yours were anything but friendly, getting you to come here just to trap you inside because it was “funny”.
“I swear, when I get my hands on them-”
The sound of skittering behind you made you tense up, your mouth snapping shut as you swiftly turned on your heel with your phone pointed out to try to catch the source in the light. You felt an intense shiver run down your spine at the idea that rats were crawling around this place, an idea made worse when you thought about what else could be residing in such a dilapidated building.
“...okay, I need to get out of here soon or I’m going to lose it.”
You quickened your pace as you continued to make your way through the halls, checking each and every classroom you passed by in case any had a viable exit, but it appeared that all of the windows — all broken to various degrees of severity — had been boarded up. You had a pretty strong feeling that you would end up with a myriad of splinters and cuts across your body if you tried escaping through them, the rotting wood and jagged glass the opposite of an inviting exit.
Even if you were desperate to get out, you weren’t that desperate… yet.
- - - - -
You wandered around for a short while before you found yourself at the end of a hallway, where you were met with a large entryway with a sign stating that it led to the dorm area right next to it.
“Oh… so this school was one of those schools, huh? …fancy.”
You figured that there was a pretty good chance of there being some sort of fire escape within the dorm area, the image of whatever board of education that used to run the place wanting to make sure their students — the children of a bunch of rich and influential families, no doubt — were completely safe in every way possible floating around in your head, and you entered into the area with little hesitation. The sight that you were met with was nothing much, the edges of the beam from your phone’s flashlight soon trailing off into complete darkness, though the faint outlines of a few doorways located in your immediate surroundings didn’t escape your notice.
And then a sudden scent in the air caught your attention.
“What the…?”
The scent clashed heavily with where you were, being so warm and rich that it reminded you of what it felt like to settle down at the kitchen table for dinner as a child while the building that you were in was both dusty and musty to the point that just being in here was a health concern. Your initial confusion over the scent of cooked food soon melted into unease after a few seconds had passed, the presence of such deliciousness in a place this dank somehow being very unsettling.
But maybe the scent was wafting into the school through an opening somewhere.
That made it worth checking out.
You followed the trail with your nose, giving the air a few good sniffs as you veered to the right within the darkness of the dorm area, until you caught sight of light coming through the crack at the bottom of a door. You lowered your phone, turning off its flashlight, as you hurried through the door, and then came to a halt when you recognized the room as must being the dining hall.
There were tables and chairs placed about the area, a kitchen entrance on the other side from you, but the main attraction had to be the makings of a full spread that covered half of a table in the middle of the dining hall; that was obviously the source of the mouthwatering scent in the air.
“...yeah, okay, this is weird.”
You furrowed your eyebrows at the sight before you, before moving your attention to the source of light in the dining hall: large windows in place of one of the walls. Unlike all the other windows you had seen so far, the dining hall’s windows seemed to be mostly intact with just a few visible cracks here and there; that meant that you couldn’t use them to escape unless you took a chair and used it to smash through them, but that was a course of action you were hesitant to take.
You were hesitant… even if the sight of the sun setting past the horizon outside, the sky above becoming a stunning gradient of orange and red at the bottom to purple and blue at the top, was taunting you as you continued to be cut off from the glorious outdoors you now bore witness to.
Hesitant.
Yeah.
You let out a long hum of disappointment as you shifted your gaze away from the windows, now instead returning to look at the trays of food sitting in the middle of the dining hall, which were as much of a feast for the eyes as they were for the nose. You swallowed as you felt yourself begin to salivate a little as your eyes scanned over the various dishes present, though you knew better than to try sneaking a bite or two from the spread. You would probably end up turning into a pig or something if you did, and you were not taking that risk, no matter how tempting the food was.
The floor then came into view when a huge figure darted past you, its force knocking you to the ground. You let out a small groan as you pushed yourself up onto your knees, before looking to where the figure had run and came to a stop, which was in front of the table with the feast on it.
And you froze.
The figure was tall with a feminine body shape — for a couple of obvious reasons — but it was the several nonhuman characteristics you noticed as your eyes scanned over her that was what drew your attention: furry ears sitting atop her head of unkempt hair, claw-like hands attached to furry forearms, and a tall that relentlessly wagged behind her as she tore into a cooked chicken.
Despite having barreled past you to get into the dining hall, the canine-esque girl didn’t seem to notice you at all, being too busy devouring whatever she could get her paws on; various sauces and juices splattered down onto the table and the ground around her, some even dribbling down her chin and onto her clothes. The way she ate was more akin to a wild animal than to a person.
“A-Ah, Akane!”
The sound of a voice that had a thick Southern accent spoke from elsewhere in the dining hall, the mild panic within it unable to draw your gaze to its owner as you watched the girl — Akane, as the voice called her — down an entire party-sized platter of assorted meats and cheeses.
“I appreciate the enthusiasm about my cooking, but please leave some for the others!”
Akane stuffed a few more bites of food into her mouth before she spoke, her voice coming out completely muffled from how full her cheeks were. “Can’t you just make more if they want any?”
“I mean, I could-” The sound of metal trays being placed onto a table reached your ears as the voice paused for just the briefest moment before continuing. “-but you should still limit yourself.”
You finally managed to get back onto your feet after your shock faded slightly, though your heart was still beating a bit faster than you would have liked for it to, and you leaned on a nearby table to steady yourself before you directed your attention towards the source of the Southern voice.
He didn’t look nearly as threatening as Akane did — the fact that he was much shorter than her being a big reason as to why — though the sight of a pair of goat legs being where human legs should have been made your stomach churn. His attire consisted of a classic chef’s outfit on his human upper-half, with a red apron around his waist and a red handkerchief around his neck; to finish his ensemble, he had a tiny chef’s hat on his head with two horns poking out from his hair.
“Hey, you gonna eat that?”
You jolted out of your thoughts as Akane spoke again, and flinched after you looked over at her just to see her staring at you, the red sauce dripping down her chin making the sight of her look a lot worse than it actually was. You blinked before you looked down at the table you were using to keep your balance, your eyes drawn to the steaming plate of kebabs sitting right next to you.
“U-Uh… no…?”
“So I can have ‘em?”
You stared at Akane for a moment before you nodded your head, removing your shaking hands from the table and instead keeping them close to your chest. The wide grin that Akane gave you in response only made you more nervous as you saw the sharp canines she had in her mouth.
“Aw, nice!”
The kebabs never stood a chance as the canine-esque girl immediately made a beeline for the plate, everything but the iron skewers — which Akane tossed to the side — disappearing in the time that it took you to blink. She then resumed eating as if that entire interaction didn’t happen.
“Hmm? Who might you be?”
Your attention was grabbed by the half-goat man as he spoke, and you flinched again after you turned your head towards him just to see that he was now standing next to you. He was leaning forward as if to inspect you, one of his hands raised to his chin as the other rested on his hip; he let his eyes briefly wander you up and down, before they came to their final stop on your face.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you around before…”
“I-I, um… I’m… nobody important?” You struggled to turn your lips up into a smile, your nerves still a bit shot as you took a shaky step back away from the chef. “Uh, I’m just… well… I-I, it’s…”
The chef let out a small chuckle, a smile coming to his face as he dropped his hand from his chin. “Now, now… no need to get nervous. It’s always exciting to meet new people, you know?”
His voice had an almost comforting quality to it as he spoke, though the fact that his Southern accent disappeared and was replaced with an accent that sounded a bit more posh made alarm bells ring out in your head. You couldn’t think of a single normal reason for a person to do that in a normal conversation, especially after he talked to Akane without doing anything like that at all.
“How about you relax with some of my delectable cooking? You won’t taste anything better!”
You shifted your gaze from the chef and towards the feast, seeing Akane still going ham with it as she devoured an actual cooked ham like it was nothing, before you looked at the chef again.
“...y-yeah, sorry, I’ll have to decline. I’d rather not get between that girl and her food.”
The chef looked over at Akane himself, his smile faltering as he furrowed his eyebrows and let out a small sigh; it only lasted for a moment, however, before his attention returned to you and a smile reappeared on his face. “Oh, don’t worry! I’ll just make an extra-special dish just for you.”
The way he said that made shivers run down your spine, and not in a good way.
“Nope. I’m leaving. Goodbye.”
Without waiting for a response, you turned on your heel and began to walk away, hearing the chef start to call out after you before you suddenly heard him yell at Akane about paying more attention to what she was putting in her mouth, the sound of gagging and silverware hitting the floor following after it. You just ignored the commotion and focused on leaving the dining hall.
- - - - -
The area outside the dining hall was no longer bathed in pitch-black darkness; the lighting that came from the ceiling was dim, but it was enough for you to actually see where you were going.
“Huh… I didn’t think that this place still had power, but…”
It was definitely the least surprising thing you had run into so far, though you chose not to focus too much on what you had witnessed just moments before as you looked around the small area, squinting your eyes to try to get a better look at everything. You decided to start moving towards the dorm rooms, the thought of a fire escape coming back to your mind to fuel your every step.
You passed by a set of stairs — finding an escape on any floor but the first floor was only an “if there’s no other choice” option, so you didn’t have to resort to that yet — before you entered into a hallway with multiple doors on both sides; these were the rooms the students had stayed in.
The doorknob of the first door you approached rattled in your hand as you tried to turn it.
Locked.
You had never felt more like a horror movie protagonist than you did then, only you didn’t have to worry about trying to fit keys into a lock with shaky hands as you went from door to door and simply wiggled the doorknob of each one just to find that they were locked like the first, until you eventually found one that wasn’t. The door hadn’t even been closed properly, being slightly ajar.
The lightest push was all that was needed to fully open the door, the creaking it made from the movement making you cringe as you stepped into the room… which was odder than expected.
You saw the expected items — a bed, dresser, and various personal items neatly placed about — that any dorm room would have, but even if the school catered to rich students, the fairy-tale theme was a little juvenile for a teenager’s bedroom. The bed had a canopy that let shimmering curtains flow down from it to shield the bed from sight when they were drawn, and vines covered the walls, intertwined with fairy lights to create a magical atmosphere; the color palette had been limited to vibrant greens and warm browns, but the walls were painted a light blue like the sky.
The entire thing made you feel as if you were in a children’s storybook rather than a school.
It took you only a moment to snap out of your surprise, the charming nature of the bedroom not enough to distract you for long from the windows located on a wall to your right, but keeping you from hurrying over to throw open the curtains and escape to freedom was the sound of a door opening to your right. The thought of another door being in the room aside from the one behind you caught you off guard, but the steam flowing in from the connected room connected the dots.
The school was clearly for the rich and influential, and personal bathrooms fit in with that image.
You could only silently stare as a figure exited the bathroom, her back to you, and even though that was all you could see, it was almost too easy for something within you to admit that she had an unusual beauty about her. The long blonde hair that flowed down her back, the fair skin free of even a single mark or tiny blemish… and the shimmering wings fluttering ever so slightly from where they sprouted out of her back; it was like you were looking at some kind of fairy princess.
The girl was brushing her hair, the dampness making it clear that she had been taking a shower along with the presence of the steam, and she hummed a tune happily to match the beats of her strokes with the hairbrush, ignorant to the intruder was standing just a few paces away from her.
That was until she turned around, a gasp leaving her mouth as soon as her eyes connected with yours, the hairbrush falling from her hand. You heard a small squeak escape your own lips when you stumbled back, your back hitting the dorm room’s door with a thud as your face warmed up.
“Ah, sorry-!”
“O-Oh my goodness! My apologies!”
Your voice overlapped with the girl’s voice as you and her spoke simultaneously, but while your words were filled with embarrassment at being caught in her dorm room and nervousness about her nonhuman appearance, the girl sounded a lot more concerned instead. You kept your gaze trained on her as you tried to navigate around the open door behind you, your legs a little shaky.
“M-My name is Sonia!” The girl tried to smile to ease your obvious unease, her hands carefully brought up to her chest with her palms facing towards her. “Could you please give me yours?”
Her eyes widened after that passed through her lips, and she raised a hand up to her mouth.
“W-Wait, please do not answer that!” Sonia took a step back, her smile faltering briefly until she recomposed herself. “I mean, could you please tell me a name of which I may address you by?”
You finally managed to break your eyes’ focus on Sonia and turned around, your mouth sealed shut as you bolted from the dorm room while ignoring the shouts coming from the fairy princess; the only thing on your mind was to get as far away from her as possible, something about giving her your name eliciting a deep sense of fear in some region of your being, and you just decided to abandon your plan to find an exit in the dorm area, your feet carrying you past the dining hall.
The sound of multiple unfamiliar voices coming from the dining hall — you shook a little at the thought of there being more strange creatures in the building — only fueled your pace as your feet pounded against the tiled floor. You just continued to run even as their voices got fainter.
You only hoped that no one would follow you.
- - - - -
You slowed down once you didn’t hear anyone coming after you, the once-creepy silence of the school now a relief; even though your eyes were starting to become used to the dim lighting that the building had, you still couldn’t see that far down the hallway, so the lack of footsteps heading in your direction was the best indicator that you were safe… or, at least, you were safe for now.
The thought of using your phone’s flashlight again to make navigation easier passed through your mind for a moment, and you reached down to grab it from your pocket, but instead of the glorious cellular metal slab full of electricity and the internet, your fingers only met with fabric.
“O-Oh… oh no, no no no, this can’t be happening…!”
Your voice came out as a low hiss as your heart sank, the fact that your phone was missing the scariest thing that had happened to you yet. You had no idea where you could have lost it, your phone having been in your hands the entire time… that was, up until Akane knocked you over.
“...it’s fine, everything’s fine; it’s just a phone, I can survive without it.”
You placed a hand against the wall to stabilize yourself before you started moving again, trying your best to push back the panic and keep your mind focused on the goal of escaping the place of horrors you were trapped in. You focused on minimizing the sound of your shoes against the floor, on keeping your breathing steady, and on trying to quell the jackhammer inside your chest.
And then you heard voices coming from down the hallway.
The sensation of your entire body tensing up to resemble a stone statue was not comfortable in the slightest, but you forced your body to take a few steps forward anyway. When you were just a few steps away from the corner, you leaned forward to take a peek at the source of the voices.
“I just thought…”
There was one girl and two guys walking down the hallway in your direction, the girl’s face being visible due to the light from the attachment on the video game handheld she held as she spoke.
“...a video game tournament with the class could be fun.”
“That sounds great!” The guy on the girl’s left smiled at her, the dim lighting making it hard to make out anything specific about his appearance, though his silhouette seemed normal. “But the outcome seems a bit obvious if you’re playing. No one here’s as good at them as you are.”
The girl only let out a small hum in response, his gaze cast down at her handheld.
You squinted as you continued to look at the three figures — they appeared to be around your age, but you couldn’t be completely sure yet given everything you had seen so far — and after you had done so for a brief moment, you had to admit that there didn’t seem to be anything that was nonhuman about them; that normally would have been reassuring, but the three were still lurking about an old abandoned school building in the dark of night, which wasn’t normal to do…
…and while you were also doing that, the difference was that you didn’t want to be here.
“Oh?”
The guy on the girl’s right caught the attention of the other two, the both of them following his gaze to see you peeking from around the corner at them, your body freezing at the attention.
It felt as if the world stopped for a moment, the three of them staring at you as you stared back at them. Your chest felt empty, your heart devoid of beats and your lungs devoid of air — maybe they really were as frozen as the rest of your body, your head feeling light to a sickening degree.
“Ah, hello?”
It was the girl who broke the silence first, movement slowly returning to the world as she tilted her head; the light attached to her handheld revealed the pale mauve color of the hair framing her face, and reflected off of the small Galaga pin clipped to a lock of it. Her face remained the main point of focus to you, her dark hoodie blending into the dimly-lit hallway with minimal effort.
The second thing to break the silence was a weak cry that escaped your throat as you shrunk behind the wall, only the top half of your head still visible to the three as you still stared at them.
The girl furrowed her eyebrows, concern on her face. “W-Wait, there’s no need to be scared…!”
“Huh? Are they a new student?” The appearance of the guy on her left became more defined as distress sharpened your senses, your suspicions of him seeming normal confirmed; while it was a bit rude to admit, he had a pretty unremarkable face, and even his outfit of a simple white shirt with a nice tie and dark pants was extremely basic at its very best. “I don’t recognize them…”
The girl shook her head after a moment. “We would’ve been told about a new student…”
You shrunk back a little further as the girl took a slow and careful step forward, leaning forward to get a better look at you. The way she held herself was very calm, not a hint of hostility seen in her body language or on her face, with even her gaze softer than expected when it met yours.
“Hey… my name’s Chiaki. Do you need help?”
Her voice was very soft as she spoke, her tone sounding too genuine for it to be part of some ruse to get you to lower your guard; she was even avoiding getting too close for comfort to you.
“That… that depends.” You peeked your head out a bit more around the corner, returning to how you had originally been before you shrunk back in fear. Your gaze flickered over to the two guys, before you refocused it on Chiaki again. “This might sound a bit strange, but… are you human?”
Chiaki paused as she blinked, and the three shared a glance with each other, the silence shared between them holding some sort of unspoken conversation. They then resumed looking at you.
“Uh, y-yeah…?” The guy with the unremarkable face spoke up, his lips pulled up into a smile that didn’t look entirely convinced of what came out of his own mouth. “We’re… we’re human…”
Despite how hesitant he was with his words, you felt a little calmer than before at the knowledge that there was a fellow human nearby, and you stepped out a bit more from behind the corner; a shaky smile made its way onto your own lips as well, the first step to confidence. “Ah, really…?”
The guy on Chiaki’s right caught your attention as he raised a hand slightly, and you were taken aback by how sickly he looked now that you could see him better; the unusually-fluffy hair on his head was a strange off-white color, and his skin looked too pale to be healthy. He almost looked like someone that should be on strict bed rest rather than hanging around a filthy place like this.
“I think the better question would be… are you human?”
And you suddenly felt not so calm anymore. “W-What?”
“Ugh, Nagito…” The other guy looked at Nagito as he narrowed his eyes into a glare, his lips now turned down into a frown that had clear annoyance written all over it. “That’s not helping.”
“Oh, I just think it’s rather important to know.” Nagito had a slight smile on his face, his posture relaxed despite the obvious tension now present in the air. “Because I’m sure we’ve all figured out what’s going on here, and it’s best to not keep anything hidden in the dark, right, Hajime?”
Chiaki ignored Hajime and Nagito as she kept her gaze trained on you, a soft smile coming to her face as she held a hand to her chest. The light attachment on her handheld was no longer casting light on her face as she held the device by her side, and due to how dim the lighting in the hallway was, you had difficulty deciding if the light blush dusting her cheeks was real or not.
“Hey, it’s okay. You’re okay.” She extended a hand for you to take. “Let’s get you out of here.”
You blinked a few times, staring at Chiaki as surprise washed over you, and that was when you felt your nerves finally starting to settle; even if everything else within this old abandoned school building was making you freak out, the girl in front of you seemed to be a real light in the dark as she provided you respite from all the craziness you had witnessed. You hesitated for a couple of seconds more before deciding to go for it as you reached out your hand towards Chiaki’s hand.
The moment you were just an inch away from her, you felt a spark shoot from her to you.
It almost felt like static electricity.
“I-I saw them go this way!”
You flinched at the sound of a familiar voice echoing through the halls, retracting your hand towards your body and wincing slightly at the sight of Chiaki dropping her smile from shock.
“Don’t worry, Miss Sonia! I’ll catch them!”
“Hmph, as if a mere calcium crusader could catch the culprit that the lady saw! Go, my Four Dark Devas of Destruction, and find the intruder that has dared to roam these accursed halls!”
It took less than a second for your body to start moving again, your footsteps pounding against the tiled floor as you darted past the trio of maybe-humans; your mind felt blank aside from fear as you ran, hardly able to make out Chiaki’s words as she called out to you, her voice becoming mixed with various other voices that sprouted up somewhere behind you — you almost felt as if you were an animal, acting without thinking at the first sign of possible danger presented to you.
You just hoped that Chiaki wouldn’t think of you as rude because of this.
- - - - -
You hunched over where you stood, grasping at the wall and gasping for air as you felt your heart pound in your chest; you could still hear voices echoing in the hallways, the sound only helping to keep your heart rate elevated as you tried to figure out where exactly you were.
“Ugh… I-I think I ran past the entrance hall…”
You let out a small groan as your eyes scanned over your surroundings, the corridor completely unfamiliar to you. There was a staircase a few feet from where you stood, but you weren’t dumb enough to ascend it and get trapped on a higher floor where your only option of escape would require jumping out a window; even from just the second floor, you would have to hope that you could stick a safe landing in your panic-filled state. That left a door next to where you stopped.
There was a sign sticking out from the wall above it, but you couldn’t focus enough to read it.
“The others should be in the dining hall by now, young master.”
“Hey, I thought I told you not to call me that…? I cut your strings for a reason, ya know?”
You tensed up at the sound of a pair of voices coming from the staircase, footsteps starting to descend accompanying them, and your thoughts turned to finding a place to hide as you turned on your heel towards the closed door next to you, flinging it open as you attempted to run inside.
But you only took a few steps before crashing into something and getting knocked backwards.
You placed a hand on your head, rubbing it as you blinked a couple of times and looked at the sight in front of you; in the dim lighting, you were able to make out a girl wearing clothing similar to what a nurse would wear — or maybe it actually was a nurse’s uniform, you didn’t really know — who had also been knocked back onto her behind, a small whimper soon escaping her lips.
“A-Ah, I’m so sorry!” You pushed yourself up onto your feet, crouching down to keep yourself on the same level as the girl. “I-I didn’t mean to knock you down, honest! Are you alright? Hurt?”
You were, unsurprisingly, unable to make out much in the dim lighting, but from what you could tell, the girl was relatively unharmed. You did notice bandages wrapped around a couple of her limbs, but given that they were already there and the girl seemingly had no time to patch herself up after running into you, you assumed that they must be from previous injuries she had gotten.
You crawled a bit closer to the girl as she continued to tear up, stopping only when your hand touched something other than the cold tiled floor. The girl’s cold fingers twitched at your touch as you gently took a hold of her hand, the girl herself quieting down too as she looked at you.
You stood up, your grip firm on the girl’s hand. “H-Here! Let me help you up-”
The weight you pulled up in your hand was surprisingly light, and you looked down at your hand to see the girl’s hand still clinging to yours… and you saw only her hand, with part of her forearm attached to it. Its grip was weak, just barely seeming to hold on without falling to the floor below.
“W-What…?”
You slowly let your gaze fall from the hand you held and down towards the girl still sitting on the floor, your eyes immediately going to focus on her arm that was closest to where you had picked up the hand from to see that she was, indeed, missing an entire hand and part of her forearm.
That of which you were currently holding.
It moved slightly in your grasp, the fingers attempting to tighten around yours, before your own grip loosened completely and the hand fell to the floor. Your knees shook before giving out, your eyelids drooping to partly consume your vision with blurry darkness as you lost your balance.
The last thing you heard was a nervous voice shouting before it all went black.
- - - - -
“Wow, humans are even uglier up close!”
“Hiyoko, don’t say that!”
“What? It’s true!”
You let out a groan, shifting your aching body before noticing that you were laying on something soft, the plush surface under your head feeling like a pillow. Your fingers twitched for a moment before grasping at the thin sheets under you, and your mind finally realized that you must be on a bed right now. That didn’t really explain why you could smell food from the dining hall, though.
“Ah, they’re waking up!”
You opened your eyes and blinked a few times, your vision clearing up before you squinted at the fluorescent light that filled the room; this was the best lighting you had seen so far within this abandoned school building. You rolled your head over to see two figures standing at the side of the bed, and your body immediately reacted by making you sit up and push yourself away from them, but you snapped out of it when you almost fell off the other side of the bed, only managing to barely catch yourself. You glanced around at your surroundings, realizing that you were in the nurse’s office, before you refocused your attention on the two unfamiliar figures, still a bit tense.
The first was a girl with red hair — actually, they looked more like petals that wrapped around her head from the top to form a bob — and skin that had an odd green tint to it that made you feel a bit squeamish. The only other thing attention-grabbing about her was the camera hung over her shoulder, the device resting at her hip with her hands free and clasped in front of her.
The second was a smaller girl — who looked much younger than anyone else you had seen so far — dressed in a traditional kimono; however, ruining the otherwise innocent appearance that she had were the horns sprouting out from her head, the bat-like wings flapping from where they stuck out slightly below her shoulders, and the scorpion-like tail swaying side-to-side behind her.
You froze when the small girl grinned at you, her grin filled with unbelievably sharp teeth.
“H-Hey, you don’t need to be scared…” The redhead smiled at you when you shifted your gaze over to her, her smile much less threatening than the small girl’s grin, even though it seemed to be unsure at the moment. “I’m Mahiru, okay? Everything’s fine, and no one’s going to hurt you.”
“Says who?”
Mahiru looked at the small girl next to her, her smile shifting to a stern frown. “Hiyoko-!”
“E-Excuse me…” The sound of a soft voice cut off Mahiru before she could say anything else, and you looked over at the source, seeing the girl you had bumped into earlier standing a little ways away from the bed you were sitting on. You raised your eyebrows in surprise to see that you had guessed correctly that she was donning a nurse’s uniform, before you noticed that her posture appeared very timid; she was slouching, shrinking in on herself as if to make herself seem as small as possible. “I-If you don’t mind, I need to check to make sure you’re okay…”
Not a single sound escaped you as you stared at her, the girl staring right back at you.
The presence of a proper light source above you allowed you to now notice the varied colors of her skin, all being varying shades of pale green, with stitches connecting the patches that made up her body. You even noticed how her limbs were attached to her body with thin strings as well, meaning that, due to your sudden collision with her, her arm had completely detached from her-
The girl widened her eyes in panic. “Wha-?! I-I’m sorry! Did I do something wrong…?!”
You took a deep breath, your vision blurring slightly as tears pricked at your eyes, and your hands tightly gripping the sheets of the bed you were sitting on, your fingers digging into them.
“No, no, Mikan! You didn’t do anything wrong!” Mahiru looked at the nurse, her lips pulling up into a rather successful reassuring smile. “They’re just scared! It’s okay, this is totally normal!”
The sight of the zombified nurse almost breaking down into tears did help to calm your nerves the slightest bit, undeniable humanity within her action that broke through the dread pooling in the pit in your stomach. You attempted to relax your grip on the sheets beneath you as Mikan wiped at her face with her hands, and you did the same to your own face after a few moments.
“I’m s-sorry! I didn’t mean to-”
“N-No, I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have s-scared you…!”
“Oh, god, there’s two of them now.” The small demon girl — Hiyoko, as Mahiru said — rolled her eyes, her lips pursed in annoyance. “I don’t know if I can handle having two crybabies around…”
“See? Everything is fine!” Mahiru ignored Hiyoko as she kept her focus on you and Mikan, her reassuring smile still present on her face. “There’s nothing to be scared of, or to worry about.”
You sniffed, taking a few breaths to calm down before you focused your gaze on Mikan. “S-So… um… you said that you needed to check to… make sure that I’m okay, or… or something…?”
“Y-Yeah!” Mikan nodded, her voice determined despite the stuttering. “I-If you’ll let me…”
You flinched when Mikan drew closer to you, though you still tried to stay as still as possible as you let the nurse check you over for injuries; her touch was ice cold — if her appearance wasn’t enough to tell you that she wasn’t alive, her lack of body warmth was — and you shuddered as you tried to repress the urge to gag at the thought that an undead body was touching your own.
You tried to focus on something else, anything else, to distract your mind and stomach during the inspection, only to find your eyes drawn towards the stitches that littered Mikan’s body. The main thing to draw your attention to them was how they looked unusually loose, the strings that kept her limbs attached to her body specifically appearing to lack the tension needed to keep them from detaching like they did earlier, and it was a little odd that she hadn’t tightened them.
“E-Everything looks fine…” Mikan removed her hands from your body, clasping them together under her chin. “I-I don’t think that you’ll have any lasting injuries from w-what happened…”
“Great!” Mahiru looked at you with a gentle smile. “That means you can come with us!”
You blinked in surprise. “...huh?”
“Yeah… Mr. Fool’s Gold says that we’ve gotta have a meeting!” Hiyoko too had a smile on her face, though hers was a lot more unnerving than Mahiru’s as she smiled wide, letting you get another look at all of the sharp teeth she had in her mouth. “And you’re the guest of honor!”
- - - - -
You looked down at the plate of food that was now in your hands as you left the nurse’s office with Mahiru and Hiyoko, the food being the culprit for why the nurse’s office had smelled like the dining hall — apparently a “Teruteru” had dropped it off for you while you were unconscious after hearing that you fainted, but while it was a kind thing to do, you weren’t very hungry right now.
“Alright, we’ll escort you to the dining hall.” Mahiru was a couple of steps in front of you, looking back over her shoulder at you with the calm and friendly smile that you had come to appreciate greatly from her still present on her face. “It’s where our class always holds our meetings.”
The reason why you appreciated the plant-esque girl’s smile so much was that it was nothing like Hiyoko’s smile, which was always filled with either disgust or malicious intent; you had only known her for about ten minutes or so, so you were baffled as to why she was so mean to you.
The small demon girl raised her hands into the air happily. “Yep, it’s time for you to die!”
“What?!”
“No, that’s not what’s going to happen!” Mahiru put her hands on her hips, leaning slightly towards Hiyoko with her eyes narrowed into a soft glare. “Don’t joke about things like that, Hiyoko. It’s not funny, and we really don’t need them passing out again like they did earlier.”
Hiyoko looked to the side, her lips forming a small pout. “Aw, but that’s no fun…”
Mahiru glared at Hiyoko for a few moments more before she let her lips turn up into a smile again and straightened her posture. “Now, with all of that out of the way, let’s get to the-”
You blinked as Mahiru cut herself off, before you suddenly became very aware of a presence behind you, a shadow being cast over your shoulders even with the dim lighting in the hallway; the lack of fear on Mahiru’s and Hiyoko’s faces was reassuring, only slight surprise within their expressions, and you hesitated for just a moment before turning around to see a familiar face.
There was a hungry grin on Akane’s face as she looked down at you — or, more precisely, the plate you were carrying. You felt your body tense up at the sight, the way the canine-esque girl was towering over you making her expression seem more menacing than it actually was, but when you caught sight of her tail wagging excitedly behind her, you almost felt the urge to smile.
You held the plate out to Akane, your hands shaking just a little, and watched her grin grow as her tail wagged even faster. You felt the plate be hastily torn from your grasp before it clattered on the floor, the food completely gone; not a single morsel or crumb was to be found anywhere.
“Aw, thanks! I was starving!”
“We ate half-an-hour ago-” Hiyoko pointed accusingly towards Akane. “-you overgrown fleabag!”
“Oh, really? Huh, it felt longer than that…” Akane flashed a grin at you and the two girls, the sight of her canines a lot less scary to you now. “Well, training makes me hungry, you know?”
“AKANE! Your speed is admirable, but you shouldn’t run away from your training!”
The ground shook as a figure arrived around the corner in the hallway, both tall in height and wide in length; the silhouette of the new arrival was rigid and jagged, the dull gray of his stone body becoming more obvious to you as he drew nearer to you and the three girls around you.
“Sorry, Coach Nekomaru!” Akane continued to grin as she turned to face the stone man, her demeanor casual without a single care in the world, though her tail was still wagging slightly as if she was an excited puppy. “My nose caught wind of good food and I couldn’t control myself.”
“A healthy appetite is a good sign…” Nekomaru looked down at Akane with a frown etched onto his stone face, his facial features all being very sharp and serious. “...but that’s NO EXCUSE!”
“Hey, that’s enough yelling…!” Mahiru raised her voice as she put her hands on her hips, her lips pulled down into an annoyed frown. “You might scare our… er… guest? …yeah, guest! You shouldn’t yell inside anyway. Now, since they’re awake, we all need to head to the dining hall.”
“Gah-hahahaha! Okay!” Nekomaru shifted his attention back over to Akane, the jagged stone features of his face turning up into an excited grin; it was both unnerving yet fascinating to see stone more so fluidly, appearing both uncanny yet natural at the same time. “Akane, we’ll use this as a part of your training! Go around the school and inform the others to head to the dining hall pronto. I expect you to finish and be in the dining hall yourself within the next ten minutes!”
Hiyoko piped up, an innocent-looking smile on her face that didn’t fit the patronizing tone that came out of her mouth. “Yeah, Akane! And if you manage to do that, we’ll give you a treat!”
“Treat?”
The werewolf let out an ecstatic howl before taking off, disappearing in the blink of an eye and leaving nothing but dust in her wake, which you accidentally breathed in and had to cough out.
Mahiru let out a groan. “Come on, let’s just go already.”

You plopped yourself down into one of the chairs in the dining hall, and fiddled with your hands in your lap as you glanced towards the large windows you had seen earlier; unlike the beautiful sunset you witnessed before, there was just complete darkness on the other side now, the light of the lights inside only helping to make the night outside look even darker than it actually was.
The dining hall wasn’t completely empty when you arrived here.
The chef you saw earlier — who you learned was the “Teruteru” that had dropped the plate of food off for you in the nurse’s office, and had been in possession of your phone that you did, in fact, drop after Akane knocked you over earlier — was still there, cleaning up after having made the whole buffet by himself. Hiyoko had actually taken the effort to point out to you that Teruteru was the class pervert the moment you crossed the threshold into the dining hall, and it was nice to know that your gut feeling about him before was correct, and not just a product of your terror.
But at least he seemed decent enough to return your phone without trouble.
That said, the fear bubbling up inside your stomach still had quite a lot of fuel left.
Due to the lights in the dining hall being brighter than the ones in the hallway, you had to bear witness to what everyone truly looked like as they filtered into the room over a short period of time. You already knew what Mahiru and Hiyoko looked like in good lighting, the nurse’s office also one of the few rooms in the building that had some, but Nekomaru took your breath away when the light revealed the cracks and scratches on his stone body, which he just laughed off.
You had to admit that, even with how unsettling their monstrous appearances were, there was also something so intriguing about them that appealed to the natural human instinct of curiosity within you… but then there were the cases of those who appeared so human on the outside.
Chiaki looked as normal as any girl you might run into in a gaming store, and she had taken a seat right next to you after noticing your obvious discomfort with your current situation. The old handheld was still in her hands, the light attachment removed due to the better lighting, and she tried to pull your focus towards her video game to help distract you and calm you down; it might had worked better if it weren’t for the tingly “static electricity” sensation you got around her that you had felt earlier, the sensation a clear sign that she wasn’t as human as she appeared to be.
Nagito just looked even more ill than before, the bright lighting only making his pale skin stand out a lot more, and his behavior as he conversed with the others — he was seemingly ignoring you, which you couldn’t complain about — made it clear that he was a little off in the head. On the other hand, Hajime both looked and acted like a normal guy, though there was a noticeable scar on his head that was only partly hidden by his hair, the sight of it making you shiver a little.
It didn’t take long for Mikan to enter the dining hall after those three, stumbling a bit like how the zombies in classic horror movies often did when walking around. “S-Sorry for taking so long…!”
Mahiru smiled at Mikan reassuringly. “Don’t worry, Mikan! The meeting hasn’t started yet.”
“O-Oh?” Mikan looked around with a nervous frown on her lips, seeming to take a moment to check who had arrived in the dining hall before she did. “S-So… I didn’t keep you waiting…?”
“No, you didn’t.” Hajime also piped up to reassure the zombified nurse from where he sat at a circular table. “Most of the others aren’t here yet, so… you could say that you’re actually early.”
“A-Ah, okay…”
The nurse looked both relieved and slightly disappointed at that revelation, but she didn’t say anything more as she took a seat at the table Hajime and Nagito were sitting at — needing at least three reassurances that she was actually allowed to sit with them instead of on the floor.
The next to enter was a girl who you had never seen before, and the moment she opened her mouth, you were honestly surprised that you hadn’t at least heard her during your time here; the windows in the dining hall were already cracked, but you swore they grew a bit when she spoke.
“Whoa-ho! It’s true! It’s true! A human’s inside the school!”
Chiaki looked up at the girl calmly. “Ah, Ibuki… you might want to lower your voice a bit.”
You had to take a few moments to focus after your eyes stopped ringing — thankfully, your ears didn’t start bleeding from just how painfully loud Ibuki was being — before you managed to look at and take in the sight of her. Her appearance was a mess, her hair particularly wild with some of it having been dyed pink and blue, though she somehow managed to make it all work for her.
“Oh, sorry!” Ibuki sent you an apologetic smile, rubbing the back of her head as she made her way towards the table. “Ibuki sometimes forgets that humans can’t handle her natural voice.”
You raised an eyebrow as you stared at Ibuki. “Your natural voice is… screaming?”
“Haha, yeah!” Ibuki plopped herself down in the seat opposite to you. “It’s kinda hard to control, but don’t worry! I just gotta use my indoor voice, and then everything’s gonna be all rock ‘n roll.”
She appeared to focus for a moment, closing her eyes and putting her hands up to her head as she repeated the words “indoor voice” to herself over and over again. Even though you were still a little confused, you appreciated the effort she was making to not absolutely destroy your ears.
Your attention was pulled from Ibuki when you saw Sonia enter the dining hall with a nervous anticipation about her, her wings fluttering behind her and sparkling beautifully in the bright light of the dining hall. The worry laced in her expression only lessened the moment she saw you.
“Oh, thank goodness! You are alright!”
There were two guys that followed Sonia into the dining hall, who were also people that you had never seen before, but then you remembered hearing her voice in the halls accompanied by two others earlier; these had to be who she was talking to. The one to draw in most of your attention was a skeleton that had glowing pink hair that was only partially hidden under a beanie, and the other was a guy who had almost every inch of his skin that was visible wrapped up in bandages, though the attention that you gave him was soon lost to the hamsters that sat on his shoulders.
The hamsters were also wrapped up in bandages, which admittedly made them cuter.
“So… this is the foolish mortal that has dared to enter onto this accursed land?” The guy that was wrapped up in bandages crossed his arms as he stared at you with an overly-intense gaze, only breaking it from you when the hamsters sitting on his shoulders squeaked as if responding to him. “It is! My Dark Devas say that their scent is the same as the one lingering in the halls!”
The skeleton let out an annoyed sigh, and you silently wondered how he did that. “Geez, dude, Miss Sonia could’ve just told us if they’re the one or not. She did see them in her room, after all.”
“Oh! Uh…” You looked at Sonia again, your cheeks beginning to warm up from embarrassment that you had almost forgotten you experienced earlier. “...s-sorry about earlier. For both entering your room and then just running off like that… that was probably super rude of me, wasn’t it?”
“It is quite alright.” Sonia smiled brightly at you, her wings fluttering again and sparkling more as they caught the light in just the right way. “As long as you are uninjured, that is all that matters.”
Sonia then sat down in the other seat next to you, and it only took a couple of seconds before the two guys started arguing over who would get the seat on the other side of her; it was hard enough to keep up with the argument as they spoke over each other, but the fact that the guy with the bandages was spicing up his language only added another headache to the situation.
You hesitated for a moment before gesturing to them. “Is this normal, or…?”
“Yes, but please just ignore them.” Sonia continued to smile as if it was nothing. “Kazuichi and Gundham tend to often get into… tussles with each other, so please do not pay it much mind.”
“Kazuichi’s the skeleton and Gundham’s the mummy!” Ibuki piped up, her voice loud but not at all like the painful screeching you heard from her earlier. “They fight over Sonia all the time! It’s a classic love triangle, though… heh, Kazuchi refuses to realize that he’s on the losing side!”
“I’m surprised that both of them aren’t on the losing side.” Hiyoko had a smug smile on her face, her hand held up to her mouth and barely obscuring it from view. “It’s just corpse number one or corpse number two. Tell me, which one would you prefer? A bag of bones or a rotting fleshbag?”
“H-Hey!”
Kazuichi tore his attention from Gundham to look towards Hiyoko with shock on his face, and you were surprised to see how expressive he could be for a skeleton with no facial muscles.
“I’m not a “bag of bones”! I’d say my bone structure is actually quite good!”
Gundham crossed his arms, his hamsters following suit soon after. “Hmph… I’ll have you know, my corporeal form has been purified and treated with the salts of this mortal plane, and wrapped in these mystical strips of flax, to prevent the curse of organic decomposition from taking place.”
“I made it!”
That shout bounced off of the walls of the dining hall as Akane dashed into it, her tongue sticking out of her mouth as she panted crazily and her tail wagging violently behind her.
“I did it in under ten minutes, just like you said to, Coach!”
Nekomaru let out a loud laugh. “I expected nothing less! Your speed is always improving!”
“So…” Akane glanced around the dining hall, an expectant glimmer in her eyes to match the excited smile on her lips. “...where’s my treat? All that running around made me super hungry!”
“Don’t worry, I didn’t forget!” Nekomaru turned in the direction of the kitchen, where you could see Teruteru drying the last of the dishes from the feast he made earlier. “Teruteru, how about whipping up something to reward Akane? I’m never one to discourage a healthy appetite!”
“W-What?” Teruteru widened his eyes as he stared at Nekomaru, before looking between the dishes he had just cleaned and the stone man. “B-But I just finished cleaning up from dinner…”
The chef just stared at Nekomaru, the stone man staring back at him, before he let out a small sigh and began gathering the cooking equipment and ingredients needed to whip up a quick treat for Akane. He soon disappeared into the depths of the kitchen, and your focus was pulled to the entrance of the dining hall as two more — again, unfamiliar — people entered the room.
The girl appeared to be made out of some kind of wood, her movements a bit stiff with a faint creaking sound emitting from her joints as she crossed her arms; she was clearly a puppet of some kind, but lacked the expected strings. “So… this is the human who entered our school…?”
“Well, that’s idiotic of ‘em.” The guy seemed human at a first glance until you noticed the few reptilian features he had, such as his tail and the horns atop his head, which still seemed like they needed more time to grow. He also appeared to have a few scales peppered across his cheeks, which made you think of freckles. “This place is obviously boarded up for a reason…”
“Oh, oh! Almost everyone’s here!”
Ibuki smiled wide as she looked at you, pointing a finger at the girl and then the guy.
“The babe’s Peko and the little guy’s Fuyuhiko!”
Fuyuhiko almost immediately glared at Ibuki, going from zero-to-a-hundred quicker than most would; his temper seemed to go hand-in-hand with his height. “The fuck you just called me?”
“Greetings.” Peko was much calmer in comparison to Fuyuhiko, seeming to pay little to no attention to how Ibuki introduced her, but the way her gaze pierced into you was much more intimidating than you would have expected, and that was when you noticed the sword on her back. “I hope you aren’t here to cause trouble. I would prefer to not have to take you out.”
“Then you can take me out, Peko-Peko!” Ibuki sent a peace sign to Peko, then winked. “Wink!”
You looked around the dining hall as everyone began to mingle with each other, you no longer being the main center of attention, and you realized that if it wasn’t for their — most of their — appearances, they would look like a normal group of teenagers hanging out. It actually caused you to seem even more out of place, being both human and an obvious outsider to their group’s dynamic; you actually started to feel a bit jealous of how close they all seemed with each other.
“Ah, good. Everyone’s arrived in a timely manner, I see.”
“Whoa! You’re the last to arrive?” Hiyoko looked at the last arrival to the dining hall with mock shock displayed on her face, widening her eyes slightly. “That’s not like you, Mr. Fool’s Gold!”
“Hmph, I was just finishing up some last-minute business before coming down here.” The last person was rather large, an almost intense aura of seriousness and regality surrounding him as he stepped further into the room. “This was just an outlier in my otherwise-punctual reputation.”
You couldn’t help but admit to yourself that he looked somewhat familiar, like someone you had seen before somewhere but didn’t personally know. However, there was something seriously off about him, something uncanny that made you tense up as your gaze was solely trained on him.
His footsteps were heavy as he approached the table you were sitting at, and you shrunk a bit in your seat from his piercing gaze, his eyes zoning in on you easily since you stuck out so much.
“Ah… so you’re the human who’s gotten inside our school?”
You swallowed as you stared at him for a moment, before you hesitantly nodded.
“And why exactly are you here? The boarded-up windows and doors clearly suggest that you are not to come inside, and should’ve been warning enough to prevent such irresponsibility.”
“I, uh…” You swallowed again, your mouth feeling dry as your eyes flickered around at all the people surrounding you. You had people sitting on both sides of you, and some even standing behind you, so you couldn’t exactly run away from this. “...I came here with some new friends- well, not really “friends”, but some people I met at my new school. They… they tricked me into coming here and locked the door behind me, so I was just trying to look for a way out…?”
“Hmph.” He crossed his arms, averting his gaze. “...so you’re here because of a juvenile prank.”
“...yep.”
Hiyoko stifled a laugh with her hand. “Oooh, so they’ve sent you to your death?”
“Please stop saying stuff like that!” You clasped your hands in front of your chest, keeping your gaze cast down at your lap. “I’m sorry if I did something wrong! I-I didn’t mean to come here!”
“Hey, it’s okay.” Chiaki placed a hand on your shoulder, and you winced as you felt a small bit of static electricity come from her touch. “You didn’t do anything wrong. There’s no bad guy here.”
“Well, prank or not, this is still a serious matter.” Nekomaru put his hand to his chin, seeming to think for a moment. “This human’s gotten inside the school and seen all of us. That’s not good.”
“To be perceived by a mortal’s eyes…” Gundham crossed his arms, his hamsters resting on his shoulders and snuggling into his scarf. “Truly a troubling situation, a fortune most unfortunate.”
“Oh, I don’t mind being perceived-” Teruteru finally joined the group, placing a plate in front of Akane before wiping his hands with a dishtowel. “-especially when it’s by such a darling human.”
You scooted slightly closer to Chiaki, leaning towards her for comfort.
“I don’t get what the big deal is.” Akane stuffed her mouth full of her “treat”, which turned out to be some kind of meat that smelled really good. “I mean, we let Hajime and Nagito hang around.”
Hajime let a faint smile onto his face, his hand raising to touch the scar on his head with his fingers, letting them trail along it. “Yeah, but… I think our cases are a bit different than theirs.”
“The only thing we share with them is biology.” Nagito also smiled a bit, his elbows resting on the table in front of him as he leaned forward. “But besides that… there’s nothing in common.”
“Well, if you want them silenced…” Fuyuhiko smirked. “I’ve got methods.”
The dining hall went silent aside from a few gasps escaping from some of the members of the group, all eyes on the reptilian boy; the fairy princess sitting beside you notably put her hands over her mouth, her eyes widened, while Chiaki furrowed her eyebrows. There were a few jaws dropped, Ibuki’s and Kazuichi’s more prominent than everyone else’s, and you couldn’t help but be thankful that most of the people here seemed to not want your human blood on their hands.
Peko blinked as she looked at Fuyuhiko, her eyes widened slightly. “Young master…?”
“Huh? What?” Fuyuhiko dropped his smirk as he looked around at everyone, genuine confusion on his face before brief realization and then a glare. “Goddamnit, I don’t mean killing them! I just mean blackmail and threats! There’s more than one way to keep someone silent, you guys!”
The presumed ring leader of the group, Mr. Fool’s Gold — no one had called him anything else — let out a hum. “While that is a solution, this situation doesn’t really call for that kind of action.”
You felt another zap of static electricity shock your shoulder as Chiaki gave it a gentle squeeze, and you looked at her to see her smiling at you; even though her presence meant having to get zapped every so often, she was definitely one of the more approachable people you had met.
She then turned her attention to her friends, her smile unwavering.
“I don’t think that’s necessary. They’re not a threat, and we can definitely trust them… I think.”
“I second that!” Sonia put a hand up into the air, a smile gracing her lips as well. “I do not believe they mean us any harm. Punishment for being the victim of a prank is not needed.”
“Well… if Miss Sonia says so…” Kazuichi looked a little uneasy, scratching his neck before he gave a thumbs-up. “Then they’re also good with me! Miss Sonia’s never wrong, after all!”
The hamsters on Gundham’s shoulders squeaked, and he chuckled. “Both the Dark Fae Queen and my Dark Devas say that the mortal is trustworthy… their judgement is not to be questioned.”
“Ibuki trusts them too!” Ibuki was shouting again, and had to pause briefly as she lowered her voice. “Though Ibuki hasn’t known them long, they don’t seem to be anything to worry about!”
“Well, duh!” Hiyoko giggled. “Even Mikan could easily take them out. They’re totally pathetic!”
Mikan nervously smiled, fidgeting with her hands as she kept her gaze averted from everyone else. “N-No, I’m sure they could maybe fight back… a-a little. If they tried really hard to do so.”
“I don’t think they would fight back.” Mahiru adjusted her camera in her hands, a smile also on her face. “They don’t seem like they want to hurt anyone at all, that picture’s pretty clear to me.”
“Well, then.”
The attention in the dining hall was brought back over to Mr. Fool’s Gold, and you shrunk a little under his gaze, though the feeling of another shocking squeeze to your shoulder comforted you.
“You. Do you have any intention of telling anyone what you saw here?”
You shook your head. “No…”
“You’ll make no mention of anything that happened? About the school or the people here?”
You shook your head again. “No.”
Mr. Fool’s Gold seemed to think to himself for a moment, his arms still crossed and his posture still perfectly straight, and after a few seconds of pure silence in the dining hall, he let out a sigh.
“Then I suppose you may go… but if you do happen to reveal the truths of this place to anyone on the outside, we will find out. That would be troublesome, though, so please do not do that.”
“Okay…”
He glanced around at the others, everyone still focusing their attention on him. “Now, will someone please escort them out? And check the doors while you’re at it as well, please.”
Chiaki stood up, her hand still on your shoulder, and you stood up soon after her, the others in the dining hall beginning to chat with one another again — though some still had words for you.
“Oh! Oh! Since you know everything now, you can totally come back if you want!” Ibuki jumped up from her seat, climbing atop the table to look down at you from her new vantage point as she formed glasses with her fingers. “Ibuki’s spotted a new friend, and she can’t just let that go!”
“It would be lovely, if you could!” Sonia continued to sit in her seat, her hands in her lap before she raised them up to clap them together once, her smile bright. “We don’t get to show our true selves to others often, so it’d be nice to have another person we can just be ourselves around.”
Gundham let out a low laugh as his hamsters squeaked. “The Dark Devas of Destruction give you their blessing to return, if your mortal heart would even be able to withstand their power.”
“Just… stay safe and all that.” Hajime had a slight smile on his face. “You should probably not sneak into any “abandoned” buildings again. You’re kind of lucky that we’re all you ran into.”
Fuyuhiko put his hands in his pockets, his lips turned down into a stern frown as he approached you. “Remember: keep quiet. You don’t wanna know what might happen if you don’t, ya hear?”
You just gave a slight nod before Chiaki escorted you out of the dining hall, the sound of various goodbyes and farewells ringing out from everyone; the shift from a bright crowded room to a dim empty hallway was jarring, but the dusty old building seemed a lot less intimidating than before.
You were finally going to get to leave.
- - - - -
The front entrance door was covered in wooden boards, the glass cracked with some pieces of it missing underneath; it was just like you remembered it being from all those many hours ago.
Chiaki pushed open the door, letting a cool breeze of the night air blow into the entrance hall and into your face — the air was so fresh and crisp compared to what you had been breathing for the last couple of hours that you could almost start crying, but you were also too tired to do so. The area outside the door was empty of life, the sound of city life echoing in the distance.
Those “friends” from before were gone, almost as if they had never been there.
They probably left hours ago after getting bored, while you had been fearing for your life.
“You okay?”
You snapped out of your thoughts as you looked over at Chiaki, a curious look on her face as she tilted her head. You blinked a few times as your brain thought about what she asked you.
“...yeah, I’m fine.”
Chiaki let a smile onto her face, letting out a small hum as she placed a hand on her chest. “...you know, you really can visit whenever you’d like. I don’t think anyone here would mind.”
“That’s… a nice offer.” You smiled back, shifting a bit in place where you stood. “Though… do you guys always meet up in the middle of the night, or was this a special thing, or, like, what…?”
“Yep.” Chiaki nodded her head. “It’s the safest and most convenient time for us to gather at the school. We all have lives during the day, so nighttime is pretty much the only option that works.”
“...got it.”
You took a few steps out into the cool night air, taking in a few deep breaths of air that made it feel as if your lungs were singing at how fresh it was, and you shivered slightly before hugging yourself with your arms. You then looked over your shoulder at Chiaki, who still smiled at you.
“I… don’t know if I’d be able to come here often, but… I could visit every once in a while…?”
Chiaki seemed to perk up as her soft smile brightened a little under the moonlight as she closed her eyes and removed her hand from her chest. “That’s great! We’ll all be looking forward to it!”
You managed to wave at Chiaki, the gamer girl returning it, before she closed the entrance door to the school, a loud click sounding as she made sure to lock it properly. You let your eyes linger on the school for a moment, taking in how it really did look abandoned; there was no hint or sign that there was anyone currently occupying the building, the school grounds just quiet and dark.
You then turned away from the school and let out a small sigh, beginning to walk away from the old school building. Your footsteps crunched under your feet from dead leaves and branches.
“...I really hope I’m not going crazy.”

Komahina oneshot #1

Sonia said hajime loves me, but I'm not convinced. Hajime Hinata only hangs out with me because he thinks I'm a threat. He said that himself Kazuichi, Fuyuhiko and Sonia only hangout with me out of pity. It doesn't bother me, I get to spend time with ultimates and that's more than I deserve. But still a part of me wishes that they mean it when they say they actually like spending time with me. Even if I know that there's no way that's true, I'll check if Sonia was actually telling me the truth. Hajime Hinata could never love me. I could never be his hope. This is probably just a lie, tho Sonia probably wouldn't do that... Oh, Hajime's cabin. I should knock... I'm scared... he'll hate me even more than he already does. There's no turning back now. I knock. No response. "Oh..." This is quite disappointing but I'm kinda relieved. I was just gonna ruin everything either way. I lay my head on the door. "Humm.... Nagito?" "Huh-?" I turn around rapidly and see hajime there. "O-oh Hajime I'm so sorry, I'll just go haha" "Wait no Nagito stay. I need to say something" I try walking away. He grabs my pulse. "Nagito stop. I need to talk to you" My eyes are teary. I can bearly hold them back, but I need to manage it... for him. "What do you need Hajime? Are you lonely? I can keep you company if you need but don't lie to me" "Huh? Nagito what do you mean by that?" "Look, I know you hate me, and you don't trust me. That's fair. I don't care. But if you need I'll be here for you. Simple as that." "Nagito I don't hate you, where did you get that idea?" "Just... please listen, okay? I know you hate me but... I can't help but want you to like me... ever since we met you've shown me kindness and I just couldn't help but fall in love with you." "..." "I know I probably ruined our friendship but after what Sonia said I couldn't help but want to get it out of my chest haha..." I better get going, I'll just disturb him if I stay or say anything "Nagito... I don't hate you, i- I like you too okay?" "What?" No no no it's just a prank right? Him and Sonia are just playing with me. I almost got them killed, it's fair they're doing this. I turn my head around. "Yeah Nagito, you wanna hear it? I. Love. You." "H-haj-" "Don't. You had your turn so now let me speak. I love your voice, I love your hair, I love your personality, I love you nagito. I don't know what Sonia told you but, here, I got you a gift. I planned to give them to you tomorrow and well, confess..." The matching rings... "Now... Nagito, if you'd like to... would you be my boyfriend?" He hands me one of the rings as he says that. "You really shouldn't waste your love on me..." "I'm not wasting anything. I'm just confessing to the man I love." I hug him. "Woah nagito-" "I'm sorry... I just..." "Hey, it's okay..." The hug was all there was to that moment, nothing else mattered. After some time i separate the hug. I grab the ring hajime offered earlier and slide it in my finger. "I probably ruined everything you had planned but... it it counts, I'd love to be your boyfriend."

“Kissing Under the Fireworks”
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu x Peko Pekoyama
I got a lot of requests these days, two of them is from Amino, I made a writing commission post and one of them is this. It was commissioned by Floppythefish, I love this girl :) and btw, please tell me if you want me to change anything! and okay, I think it’s more than 500 words lol, but I actually loved writing about them!
cw: basically everything is fluffy
Yukizome decided to have some fun together with the class 77th, since it was the New Years, so they went to a Japanese Festival. They already have a school break, but Yukizome, as their teacher, just couldn’t help herself and almost begged them to come as well.
Of course, everyone accepted, especially Peko so she can spend some time with Fuyuhiko there. He barely has time for anything, whenever she wants to talk to him, he ignores, it’s like she doesn’t even exist. That’d be a good opportunity.
She dressed… pretty good. Even though it was just a festival, but she did everything to look good for her childhood friend, hoping he’ll finally notice her. Embarrased as she was, they played some games. Like, Goldfish Scooping. Fuyuhiko was a bit hesitant and just watched her as she was scooping some goldfish with a poi, she knew she’s being watched by the… perhaps… love of her life? That’s why, Peko was so happy and excited playing it, knowing someone behind her is supporting.
It was almost 11 PM before the New Years, and of course, before the fireworks showing up. So Peko got a sit on a random chair, while watching her classmates laughing and hanging out from afar. Surprisingly Fuyuhiko wasn’t with them, she tried to find him with her eyes, but her friend wasn’t there.
“I wonder where he is…” Peko said, sighing and looking down at her red covered in glitter shoes.
“I’m right here, I was trying to find you this whole time! this shitty big ass festival got me so mad!” Fuyuhiko said, visibly annoyed. “Anyway, I was playing Gun-Shooting and I got this teddy bear, and I want to give it to you before the fireworks starts to annoy the shit out of me, m-maybe?”
Peko blushed slightly and takes the teddy bear, looking at him so curiously and… happy, as if she was still 5 years old. Then looked at Fuyuhiko again, embarrased.
“T-That’s so cute… now that you’re here, and well, gave me a gift… I need to tell you something, we know each other for a long time and I just can’t hold these feelings back anymore! I have feelings for you, strong ones even. You’ve never tried to get a girlfriend so I thought I have enough time to prepare myself for confessing to you, that’s pretty confusing, isn’t it? and the fact that I didn’t show to you any sign of crushing on you until now will make you think I’m actually lying, but please, if you don’t like me back, just-“ Peko was interrupted by Fuyuhiko, putting his index finger on her lips.
“It’s okay, I actually thought that was the case. By trying to talk to me every single day even though I didn’t have time for you, it proves you have some feelings for me. The reason I was ignoring you is because I was trying to get over it, don’t you think? that’s why I didn’t try to find a girlfriend, because I wanted you to be my girlfriend, but I thought that would be impossible.” He said with a serious look on his face, coming closer to Peko’s flustered face.
Fuyuhiko grabbed Peko’s face in his hands gently, and as soon as the fireworks started to blow, he pulled her into a kiss.
“I-I love you, Fuyuhiko” She said breaking the kiss.
“I love you too, Peko” He said as he was looking into her eyes, smiling.
