A Kraft Cheese Singles commercial from 1986, the year I graduated high school. I've been watching a lot of these but this one has interesting background music and a sort of soothing tone...

extremely cool news - i'm one of the designers in meow wolf denver's first fashion show!!! this get up is based on whale falls and ocean trash, and made up of entirely secondhand materials - many of which i actually picked up as litter. super excited to get to attend the show and see this piece walk in it later this month!!!

Mr. Fiberglass looks very dashing and extremely gender. May I ask how you made that mask? It looks great and I may want one for myself 👀
Thank you!
It was 8 or 9 years ago so I don't remember it super well, but it's mostly cardboard and papier mâché. I built the base using cardboard boxes and a lot of masking tape, and you can still see some of the tape and cardboard inside the snout.
I made the horns by cutting 2 identical spiral shapes out of cardboard, and stretching them like a slinky, which is a much easier way to get them to spiral and be symmetrical than starting out with a straight thing and curving it. I'm pretty sure I bulked them up and got them to stay in that shape by taping lots of wads of crumpled up newspaper to the sides.
I covered the whole thing in layers of very cheap paper towel and Elmer's art paste, and used that to add a few little ridges and such.
The texture on the horns was made by just wrapping one long continuous strip of paper towel around and around, straight off the roll. (It was the really cheap stuff with no perforations and with obvious flecks of recycled paper in it.)
I have a piece of polyester batting shoved into the top because I didn't quite get it to the same shape as the top my head, and it's a bit uncomfortable.
It's also very hard to see in! I looked at photos of real sheep skulls for reference, and I put the eyes further forward to account for my human binocular vision, but they're still really far back and hard to see out of, so you have to look out the nose too.
I seem to remember first painting it with glossy acrylic paint, and then repainting it with matte paints because it just doesn't look as skull-like when shiny. The shading is awful because acrylic paints dry so dang fast, so it might be nice to go back and refine the texture a bit and repaint it again someday, but that's not at all on my priority list right now.
I hope this helps, and that you have fun making one!

Alright, here is the new hat I made! I don't have any good pictures of me wearing it on Mackinac Island yet, and it doesn't look quite right without the big Gibson Girl hair, haha, but here is me looking otherwise very ordinary on my front porch, haha!
This was my first time making a wire-frame hat completely from scratch, which first looked like this:
And then this:
And then finally This!
From there, I covered the entire frame in a base layer of white nylon tulle (the original would have been silk, but it's getting covered up and I'm not made of money! 😅). I then covered the underside of the brim with silk chiffon (leftover from trimming my ball gown), gathered, tucked, and shirred by hand. The upper brim was covered with an antique lace collar I found on eBay, and the crown with an extra double layer of tulle and silk chiffon before sewing on an antique lace doily I've been saving for YEARS for this exact purpose. I then added celadon green silk charmeuse (ALSO leftover from trimming my ball gown) and one perfect vintage pink rose.
I didn't have time to add a lining to the inside yet, but I'm really happy with how it turned out, and very proud that I made it start-to-finish in two days! 😊
#Sewing#Historical costuming#Edwardian#Hats#Millinery#I've decided that I REALLY like millinery!#It's an almost purely design-based sculptural art form#Which CAN make it more difficult to learn if you don't have an 'eye' for it#But I DO (if I'm allowed to think that about myself haha)#I love hats! I love designing making AND wearing them!

Little bright colored outfit with a fun vest ~
(shoes from ebay like 10 years ago. everything else is thrifted)
#ootd#jfashion#fashion#fantasy fashion#mori kei#....like... adjacent... lol#no idea what style this would be lol.. makes me think of like whimsical vaguely fantasy themed childrens book character#finally posting one of my aforementioned seven million drafts of actual outfits and costumes i have finished and edited#the photos for but just never feel like posting lol..#I need to find one of those people whos like 'omg i am ADDICTED to social media ugh i wish i could get off of it#im just browsing and posting like 60 times a daaaaay!!!' and take a little magical bottle and suck some of the social media#enthusiasim out of them. for moi. In exchange they can have some of my 'literally just never in the mood to post or interact with the#outside world ever' energy. We can balance each other. huzzah and so on#Though I think maybe it's part of the general thing I've heard of like.. I can't remember if it was in reference to adhd or just some sort#of general execcutive functioning issue type of thing - but the idea that things have to be ''just right'' before you do something. like#'oh i need to do this task. but i have to wait until XYZ first' or 'oh i can do this but only if X specific condition is met' or etc#The fact that I even have to be in a Specific Mindset to post. or sometimes will delay posting on social media because like 'oh well#I'm going somewhere tomorrow. somehow this matters. i cannot spend 5 minuts posting TONIGHT. clearly it will interfere#somehow schedule wise with the doctor appointment i have 15 hours from now. yes. yes. i must wait until my appointment is over#tomorrow afternoon. THEN i shall post' or etc. etc. lol. NOT even taking into account the many days#I just genuinely and physically sick and it's not even a mental thing. I just physically dont feel like sitting at the computer lol..#ANYWAY.. trying to get back into it. trying to get a business bank account.. make a proper paypal so i can start selling sculptures again.#selling clothes and sculptures.. posting about such things then of course as one must. etc... chanting to hype up and motivate myself lol#But yes. this is my favorite outfit out of the bunch so I am posting it first I guess.. maybe others later..#Also the purple dress says its from shein. which I've heard is bad fast fashion stuff. but maybe okay since its second hand? I havent#been to the bins since like 2020 or late 2019 even. and I think stuff like shein and temu has only become poular in the past few years#but I bet if I went to the bins now I might would find a good handfull of that stuff. Probably now not much different than what you#find in a walmart or a forever 21 or actual physical stores you can go to though. I hear quality of clothing is down everywhere no matter#where you get it or whatnot. What bountiful joys unfettered capitalism and exploitation bestows upon us (<being sarcastic).#Wearing one of my favorite little vests though. I love the texture of it and the clasps on it

Look at what I finished yesterday! I made a whole Dagoth Ur costume, but it was kinda rushed as I had to get it done for a party. I'll probably rework the entire thing and will show you once it's done !
The mask is wearable and made of cardboard, papier mâché and cellulose paste. It's pretty light.
#the costume is a personal design#i love you Dagoth but i'm not running around in a loincloth#it has pauldrons and a cape#i'm pretty happy with it#can't wait to show y'all! i hope you like the mask#morrowind#my art stuff#tes#tesblr#dagoth ur#voryn dagoth#handmade mask#sculpture

Today I will begin working on the headdress. It will be nothing at all like the photos above, but they are inspiration none-the-less. If all goes according to plan, I'll make a skull cap, shaped like my bald head, but made of dried Kraft Cheese singles. Below is a test image. I will begin with a latex base layer, arrange the cheese slices (out of package), shape them, and let them dry (24-30 hours). What I don't know yet is the product I will use to cover and protect it that will dry rock hard and glossy. There are many out there...I need to pick the cheapest but also one that I can get easily. Today is the last chance to order things online...and even then there's a risk of things not arriving in time. Here is my cheese head test:
