How to season a cast iron pot

A new cast iron pot must be seasoned to ensure the best results when cooking. The steps to follow are very simple:

1. Wash the pot thoroughly and wipe dry. 

2. Place the pot on the burner and heat until extremely hot.

3. Carefully remove the pot from the burner and wipe inside of the pot with a cloth saturated with shortening.

4. Place the pot back on the burner and heat until the bottom of the pot begins to smoke. 

5. Remove from heat and wipe with oil cloth thoroughly coating inside of the pot. Set aside and allow to cool.

6. After the pot cools to a temperature that allows handling, wipe excess fat from the pot with a clean cloth. 

Now you’re ready to begin cooking!

*Chef Coco's🐔Chicken Alfredo First I Caramelized 1 Yellow Onion and 1 Red Bell Pepper. Then started adding in Béchamel Ingredients: 1 cup of Flour 2 ½ cups of Almond Milk 8 TBSP Butter 1 TSP Oregano 1 TSP Rosemary 1 TSP Thyme 1 TSP Parsley 1 TSP Onion Powder 1 TSP Garlic Powder 1 TBSP Minced Garlic 8 oz. of Havarti Cheese, diced. 2 Egg Yolks Bay Leaves (for flavor, then removed.) Salt Pepper Whisk ingredients, simmer on low heat, then add the Caramelized veggies. 2 Chicken Breasts Dry Rub: 1 TSP Oregano 1 TSP Rosemary 1 TSP Thyme 1 TSP Parsley 1 TSP Onion Powder 1 TSP Garlic Powder 1 TBSP Minced Garlic Salt Pepper Cut into chunks, place on a baking sheet, bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Rotini Pasta (or Pasta of your choice.) Bring water to a boil, then simmer for 8 minutes. Drain, add to Alfredo Sauce.
