Oh how I can not wait for this class to be over 😔
My back is killing me 😭
(Granted it started bothering me before I got to class, but my point still stands)

I've always been curious to know this about the people around me. Most people have been in severe pain, but in my experience few have had what they would say is their 10/10 experience. I guess it's just something I find fascinating, as I had my 10/10 experience quite young and I sometimes forget that not everyone has. In my opinion it changes your relationship with pain and how you engage with it afterwards. If you answered yes, feel free to elaborate on your circumstances in the tags!
(reblog for a bigger sample size etc)

"walkable cities" would be cool sure but, lets not forget other accessible features like wheelchair ramps and ya know
more benches and general places to sit because some people like me can't stand long without pain? . Is it really an accessible city if it only is "walkable" and caters to abled people? I don't think so. People seem to forget this fact when talking about the walkable cities talk I've noticed ..The disappearance of more and more benches to the point now to where there really are none (at least where I live unless its a park) is very disturbing.

Strange Sensations I crave:
1: taking my spine out and wringing it real good so it cracks every area and helps the pain (fuck scoliosis)
2: taking my eyes out and putting them into a glass of cold water (refreshing for dry eye)
3: Take my skin off and give it a very good scrubbing and moisturizing (no more itchy eczema)
4: taking my brain out and deep cleaning it then soaking it in an ice bath (I'm convinced this would cure my migraines)
5: Scratching behind my eyes (they are often itchy)
7: eating my many pica cravings without it causing issues (i.e. sand, foaming soap, decorative bar soap)
8: taking my muscles apart and soaking each one in a warm bath and then giving it a deep massage (bye bye achy body)
9: Pulling my sinuses out and rinsing them thoroughly (I think it would help my allergies)
10: removing my bottom jaw to give me a break from my TMJ for a while (self-explanatory)
Please reblog this and add yours so I know I'm not crazy in wanting these things. My therapist says these are symptoms from my OCD so that's fun.

Late Diagnosis (tm) starter pack
My pain doesn’t start or stop, I just remember/forget about it
Tf you mean you guys aren’t tired 24/7
“Close enough” to normal to go under the radar
Can’t decide what to bring up to your pcp first so you just never bring up That One Thing that you’ve always dealt with and keep forgetting isn’t normal
“Have you tried working out?”
“Maybe you wouldn’t get dizzy when you stand up if you left your room more often”
Thinking a mobility aid would help you but being afraid to voice that because people will think you’re exaggerating or start treating you differently
Being too drained to call and schedule an appointment even when you remember (and most of the time you forget)
“It’s not that bad… except when it is”
Flare ups that leave you in tears and unable to move but it’s only happened a handful of times so it’s “probably fine”
Being so used to being tired that that one time you woke up well rested 4 months ago is still on your mind

shoutout to people with spine curvature conditions - especially ones that are quite noticeable, or ones that require supportive wear. you don't look like a monster. you don't look like a freak. you don't look foolish. you don't need to hide your body, or feel ashamed.
you and your body are just as worthy of compassion as everyone else. you're beautiful, and you and your body are doing their best. you are seen, heard, and loved. it's okay.

Chronic pain syndromes really have people doing the weirdest shit to be in 1% less pain
“why are you sleeping on a blanket on the floor”
“Because laying on the floor made my back hurt slightly less and I couldn’t sleep anywhere else cause it hurt too much”
Feel free to add your own

I feel like people really need to accept and realize that old people do not have the monopoly (?) on disability , mobility aid usage and chronic illnesses . They expect that since you're young you should be able to do things that abled people can do, whats wild is that I've had that response even from abled people who know I'm physically disabled like my mom going "you're young , you have a young back so you can do -insert random thing here- " or people telling me that walking and standing long is "good for you , you're young its not going to hurt you" bruh I have chronic pain , standing and walking long does in fact hurt me ..shit even just existing hurts because my pain is all the time . Young disabled people aren't just "lazy" or "exaggerating" 😅 , its kind of like when you look up mobility aids in general or anything even related to them at all really you mostly just see pictures of old people with canes, crutches etc and I in my mind go "young people can be disabled too.." .

does anyone remember when doctors started getting concerned about the health effects of a kid's backpack being too heavy so they told parents and students not to carry so much stuff in them to save their backs but the schools kept (keep?) assigning them multiple heavy textbooks that we had to take home every day?
