Humans Are Crazy
Aliens have such different gender and biology from humans that none of them menstruate. So imagine this.
Alien: Human Steve, why did I find blood on the lavatory floor?
Steve: Oh, that's just Karen.
Alien: What??
Steve: Human females bleed from their reproductive organs once every month for five to seven days.
Alien: wHAT?!
Steve, calmly: Yeah, they can lose enough blood in a lifetime to kill ten grown men.
Alien: WHaT ?!?!
Karen, walking in: Steve, I need A FUCKING break. And chocolate. And a heating pad. I'll be in my sleeping quarters. Also, I threw up.
Steve: Okay, take the day off, I'll bring you your stuff in a bit.
Alien: *jots down in notebook* Human females are indestructible and fearsome. Regard them with respect.
EDIT: I swear, if this is the thing that makes me Tumblr famous, I’m gonna blow a braincell. And I don’t have many of those left, so…
Edit 2: Guys. Guys. What?! My grumpy menstrual rant is in no way worthy of being tumblr famous. *is mildly to severely confused/thankful/bumfuddled*
Edit 3: Why is this still getting notes wtf
Edit 4: STOP REBLOGING THISSSSSS
edit 5: if you like this, go look at these:
This is now a masterlist.

I need more scary space hazards that are based on sea creatures.
Giant Angler fish with lights that mimic the nearby space station.
Massive space jellies with the wreckage of ship caught in its drifting tentacles.
Space squid that have an ink that scrambles scanners and blots out the stars.
Just, creatures living out in the ether. I think space is more terrifying and wonderful that way.

I absolutely love the direction they decided to go with the black goo from Prometheus and how it ties into the themes of the film and the franchise.
Rook and Weyland wanted to use the black goo to make humanity better at colonization by ridding humanity of its weaknesses and limitations. But as a result, it creates a human without any humanity.
You even see that same theme in the chip that Andy used to "upgrade" himself with. He wanted to use it to better help the people he cared about, and yet in doing so he lost the care he had for them and tragically ended up becoming more like the cold machine that Weyland-Yutani wanted him to be.
Both the chip and the black goo are perfect metaphors for how people try to obtain, use, or embrace certain things to make themselves "more perfect" or gain more status and power in the system or society they're a part of. And yet by doing so, they lose the things that make us human and become more like mindless machines that think of nothing but serving a system that doesn't care about anything or anyone except those who benefit from it the most.

hey, remember being 18 years old and playing mass effect for the first time and it's got this like intense aura of being very small and very insignificant in a very big, very empty galaxy? remember playing mass effect for the first time and everything all of this is so new and mysterious, and it's 2am and you're sitting in a dark room in the light from your tv and you're playing through feros for the first time and you feel that this is someting very old and very ancient and you are somewhere you shouldn't be and you don't know what's going to happen or where you're going but you keep on. there's a tingling in your stomach and you're playing mass effect for the first time. the thorian is a milennia old sentient plant being. the rachni queen is old and telepathic and a hive mind and in pain. sovereign is an ancient machine that has not been built but is, and has always been, and this is something so alien and so unlike and beyond anything your human mind can comprehend, and this is something unexplainable and huge and as uncaring and indifferent as the empty galaxy around you. you're playing mass effect for the first time and you're walking on the surface of an almost completely empty planet with nothing but your two companions silently walking beside you and everything is so huge and empty and silent and you're so small and insignificant and it's so beautiful and so scary and you feel like you are on a rollercoaster about to drop down. you are playing mass effect for the first time and you're playing the mission on the moon and you stop and just look up at earth visible in the sky. you know this. this is home. you are playing mass effect for the first time, and the galaxy is so big, and you are so tiny, and everything is about to change for you.
