I massively appreciate the different makeup looks of Myra Ruiz as Elphaba in Brazil.
For the original design the makeup was green with grey/black shades. For the first non-replica it was slightly more mint green with black and yellow details. For the upcoming non-replica the makeup is a tad more green, but with black and slightly more mint details. Three cool takes! 💚

"We're not interested in all that stage make up. So we've got pale faces. So some of the knockers say we look as if we've never been out in the sunlight - that's okay with us. People can say what they like."

My favorite thing in film production is when they need to make a character look sick so they just… don’t put them in makeup. Like that’s it. Maybe some dark circles under their eyes if they must.

Does anyone else notice that thing where they put foundation on pale white men on TV, but either it is too yellow of a shade to begin with, or their skin gets redder as they emote, and you can tell the difference in areas like their eyelids?
I think it's not as noticeable in women because they tend to also wear more eye makeup, blush, bronzer, etc...
Anyway, I don't actually know anything about professional makeup, especially for film, but I think it would be cool if the way our faces naturally look was more acceptable to show.... either by using shades that better reflect that, or by using less makeup or even none at all.
(Though I'm pretty sure one of the main reasons for the level of artifice we see on film is the need for consistency when shooting over a longer period of time than the story spans! Like, someone's skin doesn't look the exact same for two whole months, but they're pretending it's only been a week.)
