I remember discussing Tintin casting choices with a friend from Germany and remarked how it was odd he often has an English accent in adaptations rather than a Belgian one, and my friend just replied "that's because Tintin gives incredibly strong English boy energy (derogatory)"

Here in the UK there's a lot of weird classism tied into accents. Today accent diversity and representation in broadcasting is actively pursued but in Tintin's time there certainly was a preferred accent to have.

realized something earlier today. you know that trope where bilingual characters in fiction will sprinkle their native language into english sentences? and how i personally, while i can't speak for every bilingual person on the planet, don't really see that happening in reality pretty much ever, at least not with people who are passingly fluent in english? anyway i realized i DO mix languages, just the other way. i will happily throw english words and phrases into my daily speech when chatting with my peers in norwegian or czech like it's no biggie. because we all know english here, so it makes sense to swap in words if i'm falling short! but why would i say words other people don't understand in conversation...!

And now we learned that the people who weren’t fired have probably just stayed in the studio because of « privileged » treatment + trauma bonding + manipulation from upper management making them think that the admins who spoke up are liars

[Edit: the situation is more complicated, but this statement up here is going off the assumption that some of the people who are still on the team were never paid and their passion + loyalty are still being exploited, notably to throw the ex admins under the bus. This might be false. They might have been paid fairly since the beginning and are just trying to keep their job. We don't know. But that was my assumption when writing it.]

This is so so kind. I’m sorry you got spoiled accidentally but I am SO glad that it means that much to you. It’s important to me to be respectful and accurate if I’m using another culture or language in anything that I do and I get so nervous that I’ll post something like that and somebody is going to come to me and say hey nin that’s actually inaccurate as hell but then it gets shared around anyway because people who don’t speak French don’t know any different I just!! Put too much time into making sure all the other parts are accurate I don’t see why using another language would be any different. Even still of course french is not my first or second language so I’m still wary every time I post anything that it might still be wrong/too formal/not actually said all that often.

So I’m really really fucking happy that it’s accurate and a message like this really means the whole entire world to me!! I really appreciate it more thank you know
