Crispy Gnocchi: A Delicious Twist on Comfort Food
Crispy Gnocchi: A Tasty Transformation Hello! It’s Ali stepping in for Emily Weinstein this week. Today, I want to share a delightful take on a beloved comfort food that has taken the culinary world by storm: crispy gnocchi. As one astute commenter, Susan Ford, aptly noted, crispy gnocchi are essentially the gourmet version of tater tots. When prepared with care, the shelf-stable, store-bought…

Rose Water: From Greek Delicacies to International Delights
Rose water is one of the most fragrant and delicate ingredients in Greek Cuisine. A most popular and traditional use of rose water is to add it to kourambiedes (greek butter cookies hiding under mounds of confectionary sugar) and amygdalota (greek almond/meringue cookie. But there are more uses of rose water beyond the kitchen…it is an amazing toner for the skin! But back to the kitchen! As I…

If you could eat any monster from dungeon meshi, which one would it be and why?
Not a particular monster, but the dish i wanted the most was FAIRY RING CHANGELING'D ASSORTED MULTICULTURAL DUMPLINGS. Oh my god. I think a lot about how dumpling style food from every culture covers most of my favorite dishes, and Im also someone who prefers sampling food here and there instead of eating a lot of one thing. So seeing this panel just made me like extremely excited
Tumblr media
I have to think harder about a particular monster..I really wanna try stuff with slime and Im delighted by all of the uses for it. The man-eating plant tart uses slime gelatin as a binding agent and it looks so good.
Tumblr media
Also not a monster but the exorcism sorbet was so delightful, the way they made it made me smile and it looks so good
Tumblr media
Unfortunately I quickly feel sick if I eat too much of one thing (especially really savory food) and I really like light foods, so although most of the dishes in dungeon meshi looked amazing they are probably a bit too heavy for me to eat more than a couple bites of so I really loved seeing unique light dishes like these here and there

Saruhiko introducing his kid to fruit and vegetables from a young age because he didn't want a copy paste of himself to take care of. Also, I think it'd be funny because he'd be wary of any food near her, like, spicy food, ultra processed, sugary... he just doesn't want her to end like him.
Imagine someone just makes an offhand comment about hoping Fushimi’s kid learns to eat healthy, like not even being mean or anything just as a joke, but Fushimi lets that sink in and now he’s determined to raise his kid so that she’ll actually care about herself and her health. Fushimi is aware that even when he was a kid he was allowed to eat whatever he wanted because no one cared enough to be sure he ate healthy and he’s not going to make that mistake with his daughter, so he decides he has no choice but to go out and buy….vegetables. The first time she refuses a vegetable because it’s ‘yucky’ Fushimi almost nods and agrees but he stops himself, he can’t let his kid be like him. Instead he carefully tries to get her to eat it, telling her it’ll let her grow up big and strong. Imagine her being all ‘Like daddy?’ and Fushimi is just like ‘….right’ because he is well aware that he did not grow up to be at all big or strong. Also at some point she definitely asks him to eat one first and Fushimi has to fight every urge to gag as he forces himself to choke down a broccoli. The fruits are easier though, since Fushimi has eaten fruit before and he figures pineapple is a good fruit to start with right, that’s what Misaki always made for him (also he gives her milk and tells her to drink it all up so she doesn’t end up a shorty like Uncle Misaki).
He is worried that she won’t like anything but bland food the way he does though, imagine him suffering through the toddler picky eater phase because he’s just sure he’s going to ruin his kid by letting her refuse anything spicy. I imagine Fushimi at least trying to be sure that she eats things besides chips and soda, like those are Daddy foods she needs to eat healthier things. Maybe having a kid actually has the unexpected side effect of making Fushimi’s diet slightly better, he stops keeping so much junk food around because he doesn’t want his kid to eat it and if he’s giving her a meal he has to eat a full one himself because otherwise his daughter will ask why he’s just having Caloriemate (and if he says that this is all he wants to eat than she’ll want to try it too, and he wants her to eat more nutrients than just what’s in a Caloriemate). Imagine this does work though and his kid ends up having a really adventurous palate, she and Fushimi will go out to dinner and the wait staff all find it amusing when the kid orders some really flavorful dish and Fushimi gets an order of chicken nuggies off the kids menu.
