 An Unusual Family

No matter how Suzu looks at them, the Uchihas are weird, first they live in that big manor on the hill that looks terribly unkempt, there are several rusty nails sticking through the fence that nobody bothers to remove, the gardens are filled with wild grass and if you don’t look where you are walking you can fall into one of the many graves that are splattered into the property, poison ivy sticks to a big part of the walls, black trees bend and twist into unnatural positions and shapes, all kinds of creatures hide in their shadows waiting for the next oblivious person, hell the whole house looks chilling even in the sunniest of the days of summer. In the darkest nights menacing wails are carried by the wind from the Uchiha's manor to the rest of the town.

But the Uchihas itself are even worse than their home, first the father, Sasuke, he is always clad in dark clothes, with his black hair covering one of his eyes, about said covered eye the rumors say that he can make a man go mad, his attitude so intimidating despite that most of the people have not seen him utter more than one or two sentences in a row, he glares menacingly at everyone that dares to come across his path and nobody is sure what he does for a living, Suzu has heard plenty of theories, he runs an underground market of lethal weapons, he is the leader of a terrorist group, some whisper that he is the ceo of an important tech company, or that he is responsible for the creation of a virus that made people explode, even that he is so stupidly wealthy that manages to influence the politics across several countries in the shadows so they do as he bids.

Then there is the mother, Sakura, always dressed in long fitted dresses, her long pink locks and apparently softer demeanor are a trap, it’s well known her interest in poisons and the strange array of poisonous plants that grow in her mossy greenhouse. One night some of the boys dared to enter on it, and came back swearing that there was this gigantic plant that was chewing on the door to door seller that wandered into the village that same day, but when confronted with it next morning, miss Uchiha only opened her big green eyes in feigned surprise and led the town's mayor and the chief of police to said greenhouse were there was no human munching plant to be found at all, then she said that if any other rascal dared to trespass into their home again, the family will deal with them in their own way, she said all of this with a big smile, after they rejected an offer of whatever she called tea and what it looked like dog cookies, waved the men goodbye as if being accused of being responsible of the disappearance of a person was a normal tuesday for her.

Sarada, the young daughter of the couple, is as unsettling as her parents, nothing in her behaviour looks nothing like a kid of her age, more like a granny trapped in a child’s body, her eyes too sharp behind her thick rimmed glasses, her gaze gives the impression that you are being dissected, always carrying that headless dino plushie, that knowing this family probably hides some type of knife on it.

There are two more members of the family, Madara and Obito, nobody is sure what kinship have with the other three, the first one with his wild hair, his robes that look from another time and that air of crazy warlock that probably is brewing potions with kids bones in a cauldron in the family basement, the later with his strange scars that cover half of his face, his eyes of different colors and a strange taste for playing the organ the nights of thunderstorms. There are even telltales about a severed hand that answers to the name Kakashi that roams and keeps the young girl company.

But the strangest thing of them it’s how a difference of most of the men in their town, Sasuke Uchiha’s gaze softens when he looks at his wife, like she is the most marvelous thing he can look at, how the couple seems to be proud of their daughter even at her smallest feats, her in particular loud way, she is constant downpour of pride and love for her ever serious offspring, none of them have missed an event were her daughter had to participate no matter how long or how particular tedious they found it, scoffing and snorting at other kids antics, they are there support her. Even Madara and Obito seem to be besotted by the child, ready to do what Sarada asks of them, they probably could kill for her too if asked.

Yeah, in the eyes of Suzu, the Uchiha’s are a bunch of freaks.
