1900-1949
This is part of a series in which I am posting clips of my larger project by decade as I finish them. For more about this project, or to ask me to include your doll or OC, check out my pinned post.
Previous posts:
17th century
1700-1739
1740-1769
1770-1799
1800-1849
1850-1899
The OCs in this post that are mine are Hannah and Delia, He-Mei and Florence, Gertrude and Mabel, Hattie and Mattie, Diya and Medha, and Bernice and Lawrence (they're in pairs because I did the Best Friends series based on @americangirlstar's suggestions, and in the process created a Best Friend for each of my own characters). Aoife, Francesca, and Honoka belong to @autistickirstenlarson, Lilyann belongs to @kirstenlarsons, Violette belongs to @getintothesun, Charlotte belongs to @gardner-n-pardner, Hope belongs to @Lorsdolladventures, Francie belongs to @futuristicsaladparadise, Alice belongs to @mapleleagirls, and Adrienne belongs to @addywalkerstan. If you'd like your historical doll or OC included in this project, HERE'S THE LINK; more detail about that at the end.
While putting together previous installations I became aware that I have the birth dates wrong for several of the canon characters. I'm planning a redo for the canon character set, eventually, so please do let me know if I'm wrong about anyone. I might already know, but since I have pretty severe dyscalculia as well as ADHD it's not bad to have the info available in multiple places.
I also feel that I should repeat the statement I made before that I had a hard time finding accurate, non-exoticizing references for Kaya, Speaking Rain, and Singing Bird's wardrobes without embarking on a level of research way beyond the scope of this project. If someone is reading this who has familiarity with and access to visual references for 19th century Nimiipuu, Salish, and Dakota/Lakota clothing, and the time and patience to help me understand them, I would be very interested in learning.
1900s
Caroline Abbott: 99 Clara Montoya: 88-97 Josefina Montoya: 86-95 Hannah Kane: 76-85 Delia Freedman: 76-85 Violette Metoyer: 76-85 Aoife Callaghan: 64-73 Cecile Rey: 58-67 Marie-Grace Gardner: 58-67 Kirsten Larson: 56-65 Singing Bird: 56-65 Charlotte Devereux: 51-60 Addy Walker: 46-55 Sarah Moore: 46-55 He-Mei Hsieh: 35-44 Florence Coburn: 35-44 Lucy Morgan: 35-44 Gertrude Levy: 25-34 Mabel Kaplan: 25-34 Medha/Mahtab: 23-32 Diya/Nasreen: 20-39 Harriet Shapiro: 15-24 Matilda Greene: 15-24 Samantha Parkington: 6-15 Nellie O'Malley: 6-15 Rebecca Rubin 0-5 Ana Rubin 0-5 Alice McDougal 0-5 Frances Elizabeth Whitman 0-1 Francesca Vitale 0
The 20th century begins with some of Samantha's more iconic outfits, but I'm also a fan of the way Addy's school suit translated to 1905, and Kirsten's summer dress to 1908. I took a long break from drawing these because for a while there the world seemed to be improving and I didn't need the regulating effect of this project as much, but hey, looks like we're back. That means I don't have a lot of process comments about the first couple of decades of the 20th century, since I finished them more than a year ago. I'm finding my way back to this project now, and I'm planning on starting again from 1668 with the siblings collection soon.
1910s
Clara Montoya: 98-99 Josefina Montoya: 96-99 Hannah Kane: 86-95 Delia Freedman: 86-95 Violette Metoyer: 86-95 Aoife Callaghan: 74-83 Cecile Rey: 68-77 Marie-Grace Gardner: 68-77 Kirsten Larson: 66-75 Singing Bird: 66-75 Charlotte Devereux: 61-70 Addy Walker: 56-65 Sarah Moore: 56-65 He-Mei Hsieh: 45-54 Florence Coburn: 45-54 Lucy Morgan: 45-54 Gertrude Levy: 35-44 Mabel Kaplan: 35-44 Medha/Mahtab: 33-42 Diya/Nasreen: 30-49 Harriet Shapiro: 25-34 Matilda Greene: 25-34 Samantha Parkington: 16-25 Nellie O'Malley: 16-25 Rebecca Rubin 6-15 Ana Rubin 6-15 Alice McDougal 6-15 Frances Elizabeth Whitman 2-11 Francesca Vitale 1-10 Claudie Wells 0-6 Nina 0-6 Dinah Hope Bellini 0-5 Bernice Wright 0-4 Lawrence Ross 0-4
1916 is a unique moment in fashion and it was fun to adapt some of the more elaborate Victorian outfits like Marie-Grace, Cecile, and Violette's formal winter outfits. The 1910s in general are an underrepresented fashion era and I'm enjoying looking back at these.
1920s Hannah Kane: 96-99 Delia Freedman: 96-99 Violette Metoyer: 96-99 Aoife Callaghan: 84-93 Cecile Rey: 78-87 Marie-Grace Gardner: 78-87 Kirsten Larson: 76-85 Singing Bird: 76-85 Charlotte Devereux: 71-80 Addy Walker: 66-75 Sarah Moore: 66-75 He-Mei Hsieh: 55-64 Florence Coburn: 55-64 Lucy Morgan: 55-64 Gertrude Levy: 45-54 Mabel Kaplan: 45-54 Medha/Mahtab: 43-52 Diya/Nasreen: 40-59 Harriet Shapiro: 35-44 Matilda Greene: 35-44 Samantha Parkington: 26-35 Nellie O'Malley: 26-35 Rebecca Rubin 16-25 Ana Rubin 16-25 Alice McDougal 16-25 Frances Elizabeth Whitman 12-21 Francesca Vitale 11-20 Bernice Wright 5-16 Lawrence Ross 5-16 Dinah Hope Bellini 6-15 Kit Kitteredge 0-7 Ruthie Smithens 0-7
Finally, the 20s! I'm really disappointed that Claudie hasn't gotten much in the way of a collection yet. When I drew this decade a year or so ago I had put off adding Claudie and the Hoffman twins to this project because I was waiting for more outfits to be released for each of them, but that doesn't seem probable right now so I filled out Claudie's collection with a mixture of fashion plates and designs that AGblr members have made for their own Claudie's. Check out the real life versions by @futuristicsaladparadise (here) and @doll-princesse (here)! They're both really spectacular designs. I left my pre-Claudie 1920s Harlem OCs, Bernice and Lawrence, in the rotation as well.
1930s
Aoife Callaghan: 94-99 Cecile Rey: 88-97 Marie-Grace Gardner: 88-97 Kirsten Larson: 86-95 Singing Bird: 86-95 Charlotte Devereux: 81-90 Addy Walker: 76-85 Sarah Moore: 76-85 He-Mei Hsieh: 65-74 Florence Coburn: 65-74 Lucy Morgan: 65-74 Gertrude Levy: 55-64 Mabel Kaplan: 55-64 Medha/Mahtab: 53-62 Diya/Nasreen: 50-69 Harriet Shapiro: 45-54 Matilda Greene: 45-54 Samantha Parkington: 36-45 Nellie O'Malley: 36-45 Rebecca Rubin 26-35 Ana Rubin 26-35 Alice McDougal 26-35 Frances Elizabeth Whitman 22-31 Francesca Vitale 21-30 Bernice Wright 15-26 Lawrence Ross 15-26 Dinah Hope Bellini 16-25 Kit Kitteredge 8-17 Ruthie Smithens 8-17 Lillyann Bonney 0-9 Nanea Mitchell 0-8 Lily Suda 0-8 Emily Bennet 0-7 Molly McIntire 0-6 Honoka Oishi 0
In the 1930s skirts get longer again. I imagine Rebecca thriving on the romantic bias cut gowns and Samantha appreciating the freedom to experiment more often with trousers. Speaking of trousers, I'm glad I left Bernice and Lawrence in the mix despite how close they are to Claudie because now we get to celebrate Lawrence's move from knickerbockers to long pants! Very grown-up. One thing you probably can't tell at this scale is that Alice is very slightly taller than the other characters. As always, I love an opportunity to make small alterations to the model, especially since Charlotte is at an age where her using a cane doesn't make me change the model for her. Between AG having a lot of 20th century characters and AGblr having a lot of 20th century OCs, it's getting a little crowded in here, but it makes for a good party!
1940s
Cecile Rey: 98-99 Marie-Grace Gardner: 98-99 Kirsten Larson: 96-99 Singing Bird: 96-99 Charlotte Devereux: 91-99 Addy Walker: 86-95 Sarah Moore: 86-95 He-Mei Hsieh: 75-84 Florence Coburn: 75-84 Lucy Morgan: 75-84 Gertrude Levy: 65-74 Mabel Kaplan: 65-74 Medha/Mahtab: 63-72 Diya/Nasreen: 60-79 Harriet Shapiro: 55-64 Matilda Greene: 55-64 Samantha Parkington: 46-55 Nellie O'Malley: 46-55 Rebecca Rubin 36-45 Ana Rubin 36-45 Alice McDougal 36-45 Frances Elizabeth Whitman 32-41 Francesca Vitale 31-40 Bernice Wright 25-36 Lawrence Ross 25-36 Dinah Hope Bellini 26-35 Kit Kitteredge 18-27 Ruthie Smithens 18-27 Lillyann Bonney 10-19 Nanea Mitchell 9-18 Lily Suda 9-18 Emily Bennet 8-17 Molly McIntire 7-16 Honoka Oishi 1-10 Adrienne Davis 0-5 Maryellen Larkin 0-5 Davy Fenstermacher 0-5
All right, we're almost caught up with where I was when the project paused, so the next post in the series will have more to say about the fashions, since it'll be more recent in my mind.
As always, to get your historical doll or OC included in this project, HERE'S THE LINK. Obviously if your doll is from earlier than the 21st century they'll have to wait for the next round of drawings, but you're welcome to put them in the form and I'll include them in the next round, which will otherwise focus on the siblings of canon characters.

book recs? My fav books are trc, aftg, soc, shadowhunters/riordanverse etc and the likes (so basically the most basic literature taste known to man) thanks!
well I enjoy all of those and trc is my fav series so will give you a couple of my main fantasy recs along those lines or not dissimilar and throw in one of my fav thrillers which is very gay and explores dark themes for aftg adjacent rep, and then another suspense book i love. I sort of went with books i could draw some type of lines of comparison to at least one of the books you mentioned.
•The Diviners series by Libba Bray — this is my go to ya fantasy rec these days, it’s historical urban fantasy with some horror and mystery elements. It’s set in 1920’s New York, book one opens focusing mainly on Evie and a specific case of a ghost serial killer but introduces other chars, after the first book it becomes more about an ensemble cast of Diviners who have different supernatural powers and their dynamics, also the main antagonist is bigotry and hate which I’m aware is a concept that can be done poorly in fantasy and I won’t pretend every beat of it is flawless but it is my favorite example of a fantasy series take on that concept that I’ve read. More importantly stunning character work I especially adore the female chars among the diviners Evie Theta and Ling, Ling is one of the most special characters ever and these books should be worth reading because of her INTP canon ace lesbian with autistic swag realness alone.
I definitely would recommend it to TID/TLH fans for the historical setting and atmosphere as well as some of the playing with man vs machine + to TRC/TDT fans for the characterization and also the second book is largely about Henry and Ling learning about their dream powers and developing a friendship through this and also Ling has a narrative foil in dreamspace she’s gay with just think some of those idea would resonate with trcers + to SoC fans for the ensemble dynamics.
•The Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray
This is one I used to describe to people as The Gangsey all girls au set in Victorian London and that’s not fully accurate but it works enough to be a pitch, but basically it’s about this group of four girls who go to a boarding school together and discover a sort of parallel world where they can bee free and realize their ambitions detached from society, but in the real world they’ve awakened horrors they must deal with too. I need to reread this one but it was deeply formative, if you love messy complicated female friendship dynamics and paranormal/mystical plots that are just creepy enough this is for you. Also my favorite character in it is a gay blonde mean girl character who is ambitious and wants autonomy above all else but does also love her friends fiercely Felicity Worthington you will always be famous <3 if you enjoy Jessamine Lovelace and Grace Blackthorn from TSC she has strong parallels to both those chars imo and is better written/handled arc wise. But I will tell you that the other wlw char in the book who is her love interest dies there is byg, just so you no one gets mad at me for that. But still very worth the read imo.
•The Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor
this series is a mix of urban fantasy and high fantasy, the first book is set mainly in Prague but large parts of the other books take place in a fantasy world called Eretz so there is a fun parallel worlds element. But it’s about Karou who is one of theee protagonists of the 2010s yet got paid dust justice for my girl, and she’s an art student in Prague who was raised by a family of monsters (chimeara), her surrogate father is Brimstone and he has a business of selling wishes for teeth that Karou sometimes helps with but is frustrated that she isn’t allowed to know why or what they’re for. Karou’s dynamics with the chimearas and with her best friends Zuzana who is also a wonderful character and inspo for my letterboxd url rabidfairy09, are really lovely and the prose is so beautiful… but the story really takes off when the love interest Akiva is introduced I won’t go into details about that because spoilers, but they have one of my absolute favorite romances in the genre that does subvert and play with those paranormal forbidden star crossed romance tropes in ways I think are quite fascinating. Books 2 and 3 are more complicated to describe there is an essential conflict between chimeras or devils vs angels in this world so there’s your modern tsc connection, and very lyrical prose although I find Lainis even lusher and more elegant than trc prose.
• Sawkill Girls by Clara Legrand
Ya horror book that I remember reading over the summer in high school and I think it’s a good summer read tonally, part of the plot is one of those stranded on an island survival stories but it’s less intense than like Yellowjackets (no cannibalism), I don’t actually have much to sell about the plot I just enjoyed the vibes and also there are lesbians one of whom is an ambitious driven abuse survivor who had an arc I remember really liking.
•Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie Mclemore I actually really love all the books by her I’ve read but I think this is a great one to start with. Basically there are multiple generations of women who are all witches living together (300 fox way vibes), and Estella has several cousins and she and them are all in love with the same woman who is the daughter of the man who owns the estate, and there’s a thing where boys and this family keep disappearing and then one of them shows up and resulting drama. The main romance is m/f but like all the female chars being bi, it is a good romance from my memory but the main event is the familial dynamics, the main character Estella’s arc around dealing with her internalized self hatred and a lot of anti colonial themes those anti colonial themes and themes of multigenerational trauma are very relevant in all the Mclemore I’ve read so yes, very much would read her starting with this book. Also very gorgeous prose as is in all her magical realism stuff.
•this one is already quite popular on tumblr so you may have read it but The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black, if you enjoy the cutthroat gang in SoC and that high fantasy world I think you would enjoy it I also get some Zoya vibes as well as Kaz vibes from Jude the main heroine. Won’t bother with detailed description because again, very popular books.
•Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire
basically a series of portal fantasies or fairytales for adults, they are all novellas and it’s an ongoing series following several different chars not all of whom appear in each book. But I enjoy them and I think if you like Riordanverse this is like an adult fantasy take on similar concepts in a way, even though it’s not directly mythology based.
•The Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir
This is the other tumblr popular series on the list and has a good amount of overlap with trc/aftg/soc fans so will only give the brief pitch that it’s adult sci fantasy and about lesbian necromancers in space. You will be very confused at least some of the time but it is worth it, trust me.
•Black Iris by Leah Raeder
new adult psychological thriller with a sapphic romance that slaps so hard. Delaney Keatings is one of my favorite unreliable narrators and also just an A+ character, there’s not a lot I can say about the actual plot because a lot of it is psychological but will give one other plot hint: vigilantes. Definitely look up trigger warnings before reading this there’s a lot about homophobia and also references to sexual violence, drug use a lot more it’s very in line with Aftg in terms of like, grittiness in that regard. Do highly recommend.
•Dare Me by Megan Abbott
like with Mclemore I love this author in general and would recommend everything I’ve read by her but this was my first book of hers so it’s a good introduction, and also a lot of it is about girls on a cheer team having homoerotic psychosexual dynamics as well as the murder, so it’s also in line with aftg thematically in that way. gay sports media.
There are a lot of others but I don’t want to make this list ridiculously long so… here are some recs <3 thank you so much anon for letting me ramble and I hope you like them!
#asks#anons#book recs#s speaks#fantasy recs#suspense recs#some others that came to mind but it would get too long if I wrote them out too: Deathless by Catherynne M Valente. Monsters of Verity by#Victoria Schwab. The Fever by Megan Abbott. Blanca & Roja by Anna-Marie Mclemore.#The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairlyand in a Ship of Her Own Making is a charming middle grade book I read recently think rr fans would enjo#The Lynburn Legacy + The Demon’s Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan are quite fun in paranormal category#oh and Gail Carriger’s The Parasol Protecturate + Finishing School series are also some I generally rec for tid fans#Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno Garcia is such a good urban fantasy

Who will Trump pick as his VP candidate? (Part 3)
Who do you think Donald Trump will pick as his running mate in 2024? This does not mean who you would prefer--just who you think is most likely.
I've divided the possibilities into 4 polls because Tumblr only allows 12 choices per poll. Here are the current and former governors. You can also vote in the other polls for senators, representatives, and non-politicians.
After these polls close, I'll post a final round consisting of the top choices.
(Nikki Haley was governor of South Carolina before she became UN ambassador.)
Tumblr does not allow political posts like this to be Blazed. So to increase participation, please reblog if US politics is a topic that you post about.

Are The Covenant characters coffee or tea people?
Almost all the characters would drink coffee. For some of them, it’s not their preferred hot beverage, but I don’t really see any of them plain out hating coffee and refusing to drink it. They all have their own coffee orders and, if offered or bought for them, all of them would happily accept a coffee.
Caleb isn’t completely addicted to coffee but he does really enjoy it. He started drinking it shortly after he turned twelve or thirteen, pretty young. By that age, Caleb was brewing pots of coffee first thing in the morning anyway. His mother always needed coffee to help her hangovers and Caleb took it upon himself to do that for him. He started sneaking cups of coffee from the pot. When his mother caught him doing so, she wasn’t pleased but she also didn’t stop him from doing so and Caleb got into the routine of needing a cup of coffee to start the day. He’s pretty careful about his caffeine intake though – he never exceeds more than two cups a day and he stops drinking it by three in the afternoon at the latest. He’s a bit sensitive to caffeine and finds coffee or other strongly caffeinated beverages will keep him up late into the night if he drinks them past a certain time. He takes his coffee black, copying how his mother takes hers and his tastebuds have just grown used to it. Anything added into his coffee or anything but just plain coffee is often too sweet for him. He prefers medium to dark roast coffee but often falls onto dark roast because of his mother’s preferences.
Chase is one of those that I mentioned where coffee isn’t their favourite form of caffeine. He’ll still drink coffee here and there, especially if it’s someone else’s treat. His go-to when he really is craving caffeine or to start his morning is energy drinks though or fizzy sodas. He likes his caffeine sweet. He’s a pretty big fan of Rockstar, especially the grape or blackberry flavours, or of the canned Starbucks Double-Shots, where he'll like the caramel and vanilla flavours. Speaking of Starbucks, I really think he’d have no shame in enjoying Frappuccino’s. When Chase does decide to drink just plain coffee, he does need to add a lot to it for it to be palatable to him. I’m talking like six sugars, three creams type of a lot.
Pogue lives off coffee. He’s the biggest caffeine hound of the group – he can easily drink at least two full pots of coffee a day if he’s allowed to, along with sugary and caffeinated sodas or energy drinks. He works a lot of the caffeine highs off with a lot of exercise or constantly being on the go, so he doesn’t think it’s as unhealthy as some people claim and lecture to him about. He has a very simple coffee order, mostly because it can’t be screwed up – large double-double.
Tyler likes coffee well enough but he mostly drinks it because it’s expected. It’s something he could easily live without drinking but, because adults drink coffee in his mind or because he’s around people who drink it, he drinks it. He doesn’t like plain coffee and he gets a little bit of shit over liking ‘girlie coffee’ but he really likes his caffeine fixes to be a little sweeter and he’d order cappuccinos or lattes more than just plain percolated coffee. There’s an English toffee flavoured latte at a place close to Spencer’s that he loves, even if some of his friends do make fun of him for ordering it.
Reid, like Pogue, is something of a caffeine hound. He likes his coffee strong…like, gut rotting levels of strong, so he mostly makes it himself. He finds a lot of coffee shops make their coffee too weak for his tastes. If he’s ordering his coffee, he’s ordering dark roast and drinking it black to try to make up for the lack of ‘strength’ he feels the coffee has but when he makes it for himself, I think he’s a big fan of those flavoured creamers or even flavoured coffees to give the brew a slighter sweeter or more intense flavour. He’s easily going to drink at least six to seven cups a day, so nowhere quite as bad as Pogue, but still more than he should have.
Aaron’s something of a health bro. While he might have a coffee, it’s rare, but it’s also rare for him to drink soda, hot chocolate, even tea. He’s big into protein shakes after workouts but other than that, he’s largely into drinking water. He makes sure he drinks at least two liters a day. The most he deviates away from his healthy lifestyle is the occasional bout of getting drunk at a party but even that he tries to keep to a rare occasion because, as he puts it, his body is his temple and he needs to keep it pristine for his ‘many admirers’.
Kira is a fancy coffee girl. Whatever’s cool, trendy, or ‘fancy’ when it comes to coffee is something that she’s going to be all in on. She’s half-fat, soy lattes with a bunch of extra add-ons. She’s pumpkin spice lattes all autumn. She’s peppermint mocha lattes in the winter. If Starbucks brings out new drinks, she has to try them, just to say she has, and will take pictures of her Starbucks drinks. Yes, she is that girl. No, she doesn’t feel at all guilty about that fact.
Sarah’s another one whose preferred caffeinated beverage isn’t coffee. If given the choice, she’s always going to choose tea over coffee. Again, it’s not that she dislikes coffee because she certainly doesn’t. She’s more than happy to accept a cup from someone. Much like Pogue, her coffee order is pretty simple – large blonde roast with two cream. When it comes to tea though, she’s far more adventurous. I definitely see her as being a David’s Tea girlie and she loves trying out anything new that she hasn’t had before. She’s got a few fallback favourites, things she always buys, but for the most part, she likes trying a wide variety of them. She’s always loose leaf over tea-bag whenever possible.
Coffee is more a treat for Kate. It’s not something that she needs to drink every day and it isn’t a typical part of her morning or daily routine. She enjoys coffee and she’s more than happy to treat herself to one whenever she gets the craving for it but it’s exactly that – more a craving than a daily necessity. She’s definitely a pumpkin spice latte girl like Kira and when Kate does get coffee, it tends to be iced cappuccinos and such, lattes, or café mocha’s, the latter of which is Kate’s favourite. There’s a coffee shop near Spencer Academy that makes a fantastic smore’s latte that Kate is very fond of and if she knows she’s going to have a late night studying, she’ll often treat herself to one.

Ari Drennen at MMFA:
A New York Times article about the World Professional Association for Transgender Health’s 2022 standards of care draws on emails released by a psychologist who has compared homosexuality to pedophilia and reportedly worked on behalf of an extreme anti-LGBTQ group.
The Times piece, which claims that the Biden administration lobbied to remove explicit age limits from the guidelines, does not provide sufficient context on the psychologist's background or his reported work for Alliance Defending Freedom, a Project 2025 partner.
The article also uses outdated data to fearmonger about rising numbers of trans youth and again includes misinformation about transition care from elected officials with no fact-checking.
The Times report quotes email excerpts filed in a legal challenge to Alabama's ban on gender-affirming care from WPATH officials describing their interactions with Sarah Boateng, who then served as chief of staff to Adm. Rachel Levine, assistant secretary for health at the Department of Health and Human Services. Boateng argued at the time that listing specific age guidelines for transition surgeries would fuel more aggressive legislative efforts to ban them.
The Times states that “the excerpts were filed by James Cantor,” whom the paper describes simply as “a psychologist and longstanding critic of gender treatments for minors.”
Cantor frequently presents himself as an expert on gender-affirming medicine and has reportedly been retained as an expert by the states in favor of West Virginia’s ban on sports participation and restrictions on health care in Texas, Florida, and Alabama. In the Alabama trial at the center of the Times’ reporting, Cantor also appears to have worked on behalf of Project 2025 partner and extreme anti-LGBTQ organization the Alliance Defending Freedom – a detail excluded from the Times’ report.
[...]
Project 2025 is a comprehensive transition plan for the next GOP presidential administration. Its nearly 900-page policy book labels “the omnipresent propagation of transgender ideology and sexualization of children” as “pornography” that “should be outlawed” and states that “the people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned.” The Alliance Defending Freedom, which also works to curtail access to abortion, is one of over 100 organizations that have endorsed the document, meant to serve as a blueprint for a second Trump administration.
Cantor has a troubling resume outside of his work alongside the Alliance Defending Freedom. He was previously removed from the state of Florida’s roster of “subject matter experts” on transition care after linking homosexuality to pedophilia and stating that sexual attraction to children is “not inherently wrong.” Cantor served as member of the advisory council for Prostagia, which has campaigned against bans on sex dolls resembling children and has hosted support groups for “minor attracted people” open to adults alongside people as young as 13. [...]
The Times also claims that “the numbers for all gender-related medical interventions for adolescents have been steadily rising as more young people seek such care.” But the data used to support this assertion ends in 2021, when many states began restricting or outlawing transition care, meaning those numbers may no longer be “rising.” The article also includes statements from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott characterizing transition surgeries as “disfiguring” and “genital mutilation,” respectively, with no fact-checking, a repeat of a pattern previously noted by Media Matters and GLAAD. Activists opposing female genital mutilation also say that the harmful practice should not be “hijacked for purposes to target and discriminate against vulnerable youth.” The Times story was updated after publication to remove the detail that Marci Bowers, president of WPATH, is herself a transgender woman. While the current version of the story states that Levine is also a transgender woman, it makes no note of the gender identity of Cantor, DeSantis, or Abbott.
Once again, the New York Times fails to properly note the anti-trans extremism of the subjects being covered on gender-affirming care issues, this time in a story discussing James Cantor in which NYT omitted his ties to anti-LGBTQ+ extremist group Alliance Defending Freedom.
