The OCs in this post that are mine are Hannah and Delia, He-Mei and Florence, Gertrude and Mabel, Hattie and Mattie, Diya and Medha, and Bernice and Lawrence (they're in pairs because I did the Best Friends series based on @americangirlstar's suggestions, and in the process created a Best Friend for each of my own characters). While putting together previous installations I became aware that I have the birth dates wrong for several of the canon characters. I'm planning a redo for the canon character set, eventually, so please do let me know if I'm wrong about anyone. I might already know, but since I have pretty severe dyscalculia as well as ADHD it's not bad to have the info available in multiple places.

I also feel that I should repeat the statement I made before that I had a hard time finding accurate, non-exoticizing references for Kaya, Speaking Rain, and Singing Bird's wardrobes without embarking on a level of research way beyond the scope of this project. If someone is reading this who has familiarity with and access to visual references for 19th century Nimiipuu, Salish, and Dakota/Lakota clothing, and the time and patience to help me understand them, I would be very interested in learning.

The 20th century begins with some of Samantha's more iconic outfits, but I'm also a fan of the way Addy's school suit translated to 1905, and Kirsten's summer dress to 1908. I took a long break from drawing these because for a while there the world seemed to be improving and I didn't need the regulating effect of this project as much, but hey, looks like we're back. That means I don't have a lot of process comments about the first couple of decades of the 20th century, since I finished them more than a year ago. I'm finding my way back to this project now, and I'm planning on starting again from 1668 with the siblings collection soon.

1916 is a unique moment in fashion and it was fun to adapt some of the more elaborate Victorian outfits like Marie-Grace, Cecile, and Violette's formal winter outfits. The 1910s in general are an underrepresented fashion era and I'm enjoying looking back at these.

Finally, the 20s! I'm really disappointed that Claudie hasn't gotten much in the way of a collection yet. When I drew this decade a year or so ago I had put off adding Claudie and the Hoffman twins to this project because I was waiting for more outfits to be released for each of them, but that doesn't seem probable right now so I filled out Claudie's collection with a mixture of fashion plates and designs that AGblr members have made for their own Claudie's. Check out the real life versions by @futuristicsaladparadise (here) and @doll-princesse (here)! They're both really spectacular designs. I left my pre-Claudie 1920s Harlem OCs, Bernice and Lawrence, in the rotation as well.

In the 1930s skirts get longer again. I imagine Rebecca thriving on the romantic bias cut gowns and Samantha appreciating the freedom to experiment more often with trousers. Speaking of trousers, I'm glad I left Bernice and Lawrence in the mix despite how close they are to Claudie because now we get to celebrate Lawrence's move from knickerbockers to long pants! Very grown-up. One thing you probably can't tell at this scale is that Alice is very slightly taller than the other characters. As always, I love an opportunity to make small alterations to the model, especially since Charlotte is at an age where her using a cane doesn't make me change the model for her. Between AG having a lot of 20th century characters and AGblr having a lot of 20th century OCs, it's getting a little crowded in here, but it makes for a good party!

All right, we're almost caught up with where I was when the project paused, so the next post in the series will have more to say about the fashions, since it'll be more recent in my mind.

I sometimes forget how close Grayson and Jameson were before Emily.

Like they literally made each other promises, and Jameson even handed Grayson the camera that had all his successful and non-successful attempts of his challenge their grandfather gave him. He literally shared with Grayson all of his failures when building the card castle. Jameson actually let him see his mistakes and did not try and cover them up, he was open and honest.

And, when Jameson said that all they have to do is choose a talent to cultivate he was thinking that they both would do the same thing. That’s why when Grayson said that they don’t have to choose the same thing as each other Jameson got a little upset and chose something else.

I also looked up what was the meaning of the gesture that Grayson did when he drew a line down his face with his thumb and…

Unpopular opinion (maybe...)

The real main characters of the tig universe are all of the girls, the hawthornes are only their love interest which is why we have 4 books and most of the short stories narrated by them and not the boys. Tbh is the exception because it was meant to set up the next group powerful women (and rohan).

Btw, I know they are also main characters and that the stories revolve around them too, but the girls are the ones that make the changes in the story and in the boys themselves (I don't know if you noticed, but without avery, gigi, libby, lyra, max and maybe hannah the mmc are mostly static)

Sum up: The girls are better than those spoiled rich boys (love them), and they should be grateful to have them.

lyra keeps finding more and more evidence of what the hawthornes did to her father, drawing her away from grayson.

grayson keeps getting warned by family (prob alice), people who knew lyras father, etc. that being affiliated with lyra was a bad choice (kind of like how it was with corio’s grandma and also casca highbottom)

lyra feels that all this evidence is a sign that having any affiliations with the hawthornes is a bad bad idea, and we already see some of these realizations grow throughout the grandest game.

but grayson, on the other hand, is determined to (ignore the haters 😊) prove their accusations wrong, and still feels drawn to lyra no matter what.

i know that this seems like a copy of hannah x toby, but i really want a sort of lucy gray x coriolanus “haunting the narrative” type love that has a bit of hannah x toby in it. although knowing jlb, if she attempts to lead this plot line on, it’s just going to be a carbon copy of hannah and toby’s love story 😪

i want this kind of love. i want lyra to feel at odds with him. i want grayson to understand this, but love her anyway.

i want him to have to make a choice between losing her or loving her, and instead of making the same choice toby did, i want grayson to choose to love her despite it being the more selfish choice, because he is selfish and he wants her. I WANT THAT!!! PLEASE!!

I lied put your clothes back on. Let’s talk about how absolutely heartbreaking it was for Xander in chapter 59 of tfg. Out of all of the Hawthorne brothers he was the one who had the closest relationship to their grandfather. So to then find out that his biological father had always wanted him and that his grandfather was the one reason that they never were able to get to know each other would be absolutely earth shattering.

Like Tobias trusted him enough to tell him to find Toby in The Hawthorne Legacy because they spent the most time together. Like he seriously asked his favorite grandson to help him find his long lost son who isn’t even his actual son, all while never letting Xander know that his own father cared about him and wanted him from the beginning. So I can’t even begin to imagine the hurt and betrayal he must have felt towards his grandfather after he realized that his grandfather did everything in his power to keep his father from him and vice versa. (As the days go by I hate Tobias more and more)

Discuss The Same Backward as Forward!!

What the hell. I’ve just finished The Same Backward As Forward and I’m actually in shambles??? I’ve never cried so hard to the inheritance games before but I will surely never forget Hannah and Toby. I actually can’t get over them and haven’t stopped thinking about theories - this one is kinda wild and based off something I saw on here aswell but what if *SPOILER* Alice Hawthorne played a role in Hannah’s death??? Because I’m sorry but I refuse to believe she actually died of natural causes and the last bit about how Alice gave Hannah an offer and she turned it down?? What could this mean?????? I’ve also noticed so many parallels between Jameson and Avery too ughhhh

Libby's blue hair slightly fading back to their natural color during motherhood because she's so busy all the time. Nash insisting that someone babysit their kid whilst his idea of a "date" is dyeing her hair back to the color that she wants it.

Libby dyeing a streak of his hair blue to match. Nash letting his kids paint his nails and sometimes carrying the baby in the hat.

Their children wanting to dye their hair bright colors "just like mom" and wear cool clothes and makeup so Nash buys them the children's extensions.
