im not involved in the creation of this but i have been following this project for a few months now. if you want to support a group of independent creators, Studio Heartbreak is creating a sapphic short film called The Lovers about a seafood chief and a siren.

of course there are risks in backing a kickstarter so like, only back if you are aware of and okay with the risks, but i am so excited for something like this to come out and to have a chance to be directly involved in a project like this!

My entry for Studio Heartbreak’s DTIYS, wherein artists should choose any frame from the trailer for The Lovers. I loved the intensity of this moment, and the potential for dramatic lighting (ceiling-high tank in restaurant at night, low-blue lighting in the tank, reddish after-hours light from behind). And sooo many things to make glow. This was also my first time drawing bubbles freehand, and I think they look quite nice.

From their Kickstarter:  The Lovers is an independent animated film that follows Sara Lim Baylon, a reluctant seafood chef from Binondo, Manila. As the youngest member of her family to run their restaurant, Sara faces the daunting pressure to live up to her late father's reputation and keep the business afloat. When the governor's inauguration dinner is planned at the restaurant, featuring a siren as the centerpiece, Sara finds herself drawn into a dangerous affair with the mythical creature.
