Other people using a microlabel doesn't undermine your experience

Other people using an alternate label doesn't undermine your experience

They're not insulting you, telling you that your label is wrong, or claiming the label you use is somehow dirty.

Lesbian is inclusive of nonbinary people. Trixic is still a valid label for nonbinary people who want to emphasize they are not women and/or are not comfortable being called lesbians. It does not invalidate nonbinary lesbians. Trixic and lesbian can be used together or someone may choose to only identify as one or the other. They do not invalidate each other

Same goes for Vincian/Veldian/Turian/Cinthean/other equivalents. I'm gonna say veldian because it sounds nicest. Veldian js inclusive of nonbinary people. Toric is still a valid label for nonbinary people that want to emphasize they are not men. It doesn't invalidate nonbinary veldians and it may or may not be used in combination with veldian.

This also goes for faunic and floric. Faunic and floric are valid terms. They do not invalidate lesbian and veldian. Both lesbian and veldian have wlw and mlm connotations even if they're not strictly limited to those people, and it's okay to want a term without those connotations. It's okay to use faunic and lesbian or floric and veldian if you wanna specify your attraction is broader than the wlw or mlm relationships commonly associated with those labels

Being a full-moon springtide lunian/bi lesbian/omni lesbian or a summertime solian/bi veldian/omni veldian does not invalidate lesbians and veldians who are also technically mspec but would rather just identify as lesbians or veldians. I wanna be specific about the genders I'm attracted to being inherently mspec even without including both binary genders. You don't have to. I'm not forcing you to.

Being a lilaean or violaen also doesn't invalidate strictly wlw or mlm lesbians or veldians that don't use the microlabels. They're just being specific about their attraction because they want to.

If you don't wanna use a microlabel, don't. Stop trying to tell others we should just call ourselves lesbians or veldians because we're a lot more than that.

SHORT ANSWER: Seeing their favorite nonbinary character kiss girls makes a nonbinary lesbian happy!!!

LONG ANSWER: The #medpoc_girlkissing_collection tag has everything to do with being a nonbinary lesbian, actually. More ramblings under cut. Long post ahead.

Imagine a nonbinary lesbian who repressed most of their tendencies throughout their childhood and teenhood. They live in a homophobic misogynist religious country and grew up surrounded by queer people who like men so they thought that they have to tone down their interest and passion towards women. It doesn't help that sapphic, let alone trixic representation and media were scarce or not taken seriously by the fandom.

That nonbinary lesbian thought of their lesbianism as filthy, predatory, and something to grow out of. It was not something to be proud of. It was not something to talk about. It was not something to make art with. It was something to be ashamed of.

That nonbinary dyke is almost 18. They found. Something. A game. With lots of girls in it. And sapphic subtext that you could barely call subtext anymore. It has women pining for one another, it has women who present themselves in a more masculine way and is illustrated to have sapphic relations, it has people of color, it has a NONBINARY CHARACTER (wow), and not only that, but the creators clearly put a lot of love into this game. You don't see this shit often??? And it??? Means a lot to me??? A game where sapphic relationships are even a pretty strong plot point in the game???

Okay, so let's get back to how there's a nonbinary character, right? Now let's look at the nonbinary lesbian again. What is that? Transneutral tendencies? The longing to be sexless? Okay. Let's look at the nonbinary character — said to have no reproductive organs. [THE CROWD CHEERS].

"Oh wow I want to be them," said the nonbinary lesbian, "I can make them lesbian."

[ THAT CHARACTER IS NOT A LESBIAN. AND LIKELY NEVER WILL BE IN CANON. ]

That statement is true. But here's the thing with the game... This is a gacha game, you can essentially play with these characters like dolls. Reality can be anything you want. Seeing the amount of subtext + text sapphic relationships in this game is like a "permission" to go lesbian overdrive and — make that enby kiss girls. Lots of them. And be freaky about it. To make ME happy.

The fandom certainly won't make them kiss girls but nobody can stop me and the repressed lesbianism throughout my teenhood. This character is weird, sometimes pathetic, but confident and owns up to their action. They want to pave their own path and that is such a positive influence for this was-ashamed-of-her-attraction-and-afraid-of-being-cringe dyke. They're a perfect candidate to project my version of queerness on. It also helps that they don't have a canon race (haha asian beam) and how we have a similar voice!!!

DRAWING THEM KISSING GIRLS IS SO AFFIRMING AND FUN!!! IT MAKES THIS NONBINARY DYKE HAPPY!!! DRAWING IT A LOT OF TIMES MAKES ME EVEN HAPPIER!!! ♡ I can do whatever I want. I own the place. And oh, if it isn't thrilling to see how much dyke bullshit I repressed over the course of years spill out spontaneously to this fucking game LMAO!!! I've been thinking of osgate again (it seems they've become my best coping method as I navigate the incomprehensible nightmare that is American health insurance) so here's some random thoughts I have.

Osgood is a breaking bad superfan and has been since it came out

Kate never saw it until osgood and her started dating and osgood convinced her (with much difficulty) to just watch the first episode with her once.

It was all downhill (or uphill for osgood) from there

(I'll try to keep the breaking bad posting to a minimum and this post spoiler free 😅)

So I hc kate is bisexual with a preference for women but, she fell in love with gus fring the moment she saw him

Osgood had to listen to kate go on an unhinged rant about how hot Gustavo is

"His voice! His bloody accent Os! The subtle roll of his tongue! His eyes!"

And don't even get me started when she saw him in a t-shirt for the first time

She damn near had a stroke

As for how osgood feels about this, I think they're both perfectly fine with each other expressing attraction to other people

They don't have an open relationship per se, but they aren't exclusive either

In Kate's experience, strictly exclusive relationships where attraction is very limited is typically a breeding ground for jealousy and eventual boredom

So she and osgood agreed to keep things open and fresh but also have an open dialogue if either of them ever feels discontent

Of course they still love each other, they're madly in love

But they understand that sometimes they will need some space away from each other in order to keep their relationship fresh, alive, and strong

Also they both just love looking at hot people and talking about how hot they are lol

As for osgood, she's gender nonconforming (any pronouns) and identifies as sapphic/lesbian, though she occasionally has attraction to enbies

Now that I'm thinking of gender labels, time for me to go all mogai nerd on you all hehe

For the sake of fun I'm gonna go into even more detail about osgoods gender. I think she'd identify as nebularian and/or stellunarian

Both of those labels are under the galactian umbrella, a nonbinary gender alignment system for enby people who want to use label(s) that describe much more specified and complex gender identities/feelings

As for her sexuality, I think she'd use the labels of sapphic/lesbian but also trixic (enby attraction to fem people/femininity)

Now Kate's gender identity is much simpler lol, she just identifies as a woman (she/her) (though whether or not she's cis is up to you to decide ;) )

Now about their relationship, I think kate is kinda futch. She likes having a bit of masc/androgynous flare like wearing more masculine perfumes or sometimes suits

Being a woman in a position of power means she's had to work her ass off to get people (mainly gross rich old men) to respect her and recognize her authority, and one way she managed to do that was to dress just slightly more masculine, wearing shorter heels or just flats, wearing pants over skirts, shirts, ties, and jackets that resemble men's suits, stuff like that.

Of course she still prefers to present feminine in many ways as that makes her most comfortable, but she also likes the added touch of subtle masculinity

Osgoods gender expression is just a mystery and she likes keeping it that way

There are times where kate likes to lean more masculine/butch

One particular date they went to a club where that nights theme was knights, princesses and princes

Kate went straight for the role of a knight, dressing up all masc and pulling every chivalrous cliche in the book

She kissed osgoods hand, bowed to her, held open every door for her, the whole nine yards

Osgood was dressed as a sorta prince/princess and she was blushing the whole night

Mogai is all of those microidentities that aren't included in the LGBTQ+ acronym, cause I guess the + wasn't enough? Anyways, it tends to consist of things like lithoromantic, solarian, ect ect basically any of the obscure sexualities and genders that are based on typically more than just gender. Often a feeling of connection to something

Ex. Catgender is someone who feels connected to cats and wants to include them in their gender identity. It can also be a connection to something like the moon or fog or whatever. Sometimes they describe things like "my gender feels confusing like fog" or "I want a romantic attraction that isn't reciprocated".

I'm honestly pretty split on the topic of Mogai because on one hand, I don't care if someone goes around saying they're vampiregender or their sexualities is cloudy, but mogai particularly has been used ruthlessly to try and reject lesbians. I've has it personally, people telling me shit like "you're not a lesbian, you're lithosexual or akiosexual." It's also an example when people try to tell you to use "trixic" or "dianic" and that sort of stuff instead of, y'know, lesbian.

It does also have an issue where it suggests putting a name to confusing feelings instead of working through and figuring them out, but whatever, if you're that kind you do you.

I just don't like how commonly they try to attack specifically lesbians. It left such a bad taste in my mouth and absolutely destroyed any positive relationship I had with it at a very fundamental time.

Typically they're rad inclus and uncritical of any genuinely harmful ideas ("lesboy" and "turigirl" my DESTESTED. Basically just """straight people that love the opposite gender in a queer way""". You're fucking straight)

Yeah as I said to another anon I guess from what I’ve seen MOGAI is not inherently bad, but a lot of them are very extreme when it comes to thinking everything is valid and end up invalidating other identities. I’m still very sus when I see someone say they’re MOGAI, because like you said, I’ve seen them invalidating lesbians.
