I normally don't state my opinion in text posts, but I want to ask something.
When it comes to politics (US, unfortunately, I am American), I see a bunch of people stating they'll they won't vote for Kamala due to the Palestinian genocide. Okay, I understand. I've been in this fight for over a decade, educating on the Palestinian's plight that has been happening since the 1940s. The prisoners, the Great March of Return, etc. (I've also been knee deep in educating about the ulterior motives of the "War on Terror" and how it was a step by step plan by Western countries to destabilize the Middle East for Big Oil but that's a whole different post)
What is your plan? How are you going to overthrow the Militarized American Government? What steps are you going to take to change how it works?
Not to be a bitch, but if you don't vote, Trump will become president and the Palestinians will be genocided regardless. In fact, it would be at a faster rate due to him and his constituents. There wouldn't even be talks of a ceasefire or any aid. All aid would cease, and the Trump administration would expedite the process of turning Gaza into a parking lot. (Trump's words, not mine)
Plus, Americans would also suffer. Leftists like myself know that a Kamala presidency is just stalling for time, a band aid on an already corrupt deal, but we don't want to fall full tilt into fascism. We are so close to 1930s Germany on the far-right that it is frightening, staring down the barrel of a gun. (In fact it would be worse due to the US having the biggest and most advanced military in the world + nukes.)
In 2016, many voted 3rd party or didn't vote at all due to Hillary Clinton being the democratic primary and not Bernie Sanders.
In 2016 I begged and pleaded for people to vote blue (as a band aid) I knew as poli-sci student that a Trump presidency would overturn Roe V Wade due to the status of the Supreme Court at the time. All he had to do was stack it. I knew hate crimes would rise as he gave a voice to racists and bigots. I knew he would go after the LGBTQ+, marginalized communities, and asylum seekers. He campaigned on hate, and it killed millions of Americans in the pandemic. I mourned for the progress (as little as it was) we had made as a country as it was announced he won.
Because of moralist inaction in 2016, my neices and myself now have to fight for rights our grandmothers won. Because of inaction, our country was set back decades.
So what is your plan? What revolution are you going to put in place from your living room?
The government would slaughter its own citizens to uphold the status quo. There has to be a plan. (See BLM protests 2020 and Free Palestine protests 2023-2024)
The White Christian Nationalists are united in their beliefs of stripping the little rights away that we do have. They don't care about you and your beliefs.
You are so focused on moral grandstanding that real-life consequences are beyond you.
You all are so focused on doing no wrong, that you forget to do what is right.
Sometimes you have to play the long game. Because we are losing battles, yes, but that doesn't mean we lose the war.
I refuse to let it all burn to make a point. I care about my fellow Americans, my fellow LGBTQ+ brothers, and sisters trapped in the South, women dying in hospital parking lots, and POC being racially targeted, the refugees just looking for a new life.
I refuse to let a Trump presidency implement the last few steps of Project 2025. If I can stall and help build a community to support my countrymen (gender neutral) I will.
I will begrudgingly vote for Kamala Harris and continue to fight.

When Bernie Sanders’ supporters took over the Nevada Democratic Party two years ago, progressives across the country were thrilled.
Socialists had managed to bring down one of the most powerful establishment forces in the nation, the famed Democratic machine built by former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. They saw it as a blueprint for the progressive transformation of state parties.
Two years after the experiment began, there are regrets.
Judith Whitmer, the insurgent party chair who wrested control of the party from mainstream Democrats, is facing a challenge in her reelection campaign next month amid doubts from her own former supporters and accusations that she abandoned her progressive principles. And even key figures in Bernie world — including Sanders himself — say they are unhappy and embittered by what’s transpired.
“The senator is pretty disappointed in Judith’s chairmanship, specifically around her failure to build a strong grassroots movement in the state,” said a person familiar with Sanders’ thinking. “A lot of us feel sad about what could have been. It was a big opportunity for Bernie-aligned folks in the state to prove some of the folks in the establishment wrong. And that hasn’t happened.”
The situation has left the Sanders coalition in Nevada fragmented right at the onset of the critical 2024 election. And it has set off larger debates about what, exactly, the progressive movement should be doing during the twilight of the senator’s career. There is even talk that it might simply be a waste of time for the progressives to win control of a state party’s machinery.
“There just has been a complete lack of competence or ability to accomplish anything significant,” said Peter Koltak, a Democratic strategist and former Nevada senior adviser for Sanders’ 2020 campaign, of the current state party leadership. “Look, there’s a lot of well-meaning activists involved there, but they don’t understand the ins and outs of how you build modern campaigns.”
In an interview, Whitmer expressed surprise over Sanders’ disappointment, pointing to a meeting she had earlier this year with him: “I think he would have said to me, ‘Hey Judith, I’m disappointed in what you’re doing’ if that was actually a true statement.”
But even for the most optimistic-minded liberal in the state, the state of disarray among the progressive movement in Nevada represents a shocking turnaround from 2021.
Back then, former Sanders aides, members of the Democratic Socialists of America, and other progressives united to elect Whitmer after working on Sanders’ win in the Nevada presidential caucus a year earlier. Sanders was part of the effort, sending texts from his political committee to encourage people to run for party posts and later fundraised for the state party. At the time, Whitmer promised to make the state party “accountable to the people,” revamp its get-out-the-vote efforts, and leverage the national party to make Nevada the first-in-the-nation primary.
The state party didn’t take Whitmer’s victory lightly. Shortly before it was sealed, party staff in an apparent act of protest moved hundreds of thousands of dollars from their own coffers to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and later quit their positions. Once Whitmer took her post, the Reid machine circumvented the state party and set up a coordinated campaign out of a local party in the state’s second-biggest county. Officials insisted it was necessary because Whitmer lacked experience in winning battleground elections.
“The previous administration pretty much burnt the house down,” said Whitmer. “When we got the keys, there was a lot of reorganization that had to be done. Records were missing and money had been transferred out.”
Whitmer’s critics — including those in the progressive wing — counter that any failures were largely hers. They accused her of having poor relationships with elected officials, of being a poor fundraiser, of failing to build the grassroots organizing infrastructure she promised, and of antagonizing leaders in the party.
They’ve bashed her over the state party’s decision to back a sheriff who appeared to support chokeholds as well as a lieutenant governor candidate, Debra March, who primaried the sitting Democratic lieutenant governor, who had been appointed by then-Gov. Steve Sisolak. They also accused her of trying to rig the March 4 election for state party chair by removing members from the state central committee, which chooses the chair.
Nevada was the lone state where the incumbent governor — a Democrat — lost in 2022. Beyond Sisolak’s defeat, Whitmer’s critics note that Nevada did not get the No. 1 spot in the Democrats’ new presidential nominating calendar.
“They had to create a separate coordinated campaign, which I think created a lot of confusion for a few months. And it wasn’t as united as it could have been,” said Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom, a Sanders-supporting Democrat who ran against Whitmer in 2021. “[Sisolak] lost by a very small minority. If we could have gotten our voter registration or get-out-the-vote efforts sooner, he could have won.”
The state’s Democratic senators, House members and other statewide officials have endorsed Whitmer’s opponent, Assemblywoman Daniele Monroe-Moreno, who is challenging her for the state chair post.
But it’s not just establishment types who have gripes. Kara Hall, a leader in the Las Vegas chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, said Whitmer also hasn’t kept up relationships on the left. “She never once after she was elected spoke out and talked to the chapter,” Hall said.
The Las Vegas DSA, which played a key role in helping elect Whitmer two years ago, announced in a scathing statement this month that it was not backing her reelection.
“This is our lesson, and we hope socialists everywhere will pay close attention: the Democratic Party is a dead end,” it read. “It is a ‘party’ in name only; truly, it is simply a tangled web of dark money and mega-donors, cynical consultants, and lapdog politicians.”
Whitmer defended her tenure to POLITICO, arguing that she was elected to make change and delivered, providing party infrastructure to rural areas, raising money through small-dollar donations, and holding legislative roundtable sessions. She also said the state party successfully ran a mailer program for federal candidates and made over 1 million direct voter contacts.
“The state party has never invested resources in rural communities,” she said. “We actually provided resources and sent computer equipment and printers to each one of our rural county parties.”
Whitmer also shot back at critics who said she is rigging the chair election, describing the removal of committee members who have not attended recent meetings as “standard practice.”
As for the state party’s backing of March for lieutenant governor, she said that initially took place at a time when the Sisolak team had told her that he would not make an appointment. (A source on the Sisolak campaign said the governor never publicly decided to not appoint someone.) Whitmer said the party supported Kevin McMahill, the sheriff candidate, as a way to “keep extremists out of office.”
As Whitmer sees it, the criticism she endured from her own progressive brethren was not because she abandoned principles but because she opted to work within political realities.
“They really did not want to do electoral politics,” she said. “They wanted to work outside of the current electoral system. As the state party chair, I can’t do that. I can’t work outside of the system itself. I represent the Democratic Party. I don’t represent the DSA.”
Hall, the DSA leader, disputed Whitmer’s contention that the group was opposed to electoral politics, pointing out that the local chapter voted to make electoral research and recruitment a priority. But she said she now views the Democratic Party as a dead end not because of Whitmer or even the breakdown of their relationship.
“It has more to do with how the establishment reacted” to Whitmer’s victory, she said. “We did it the right way. We took seats on the [state central committee]. We got elected. We voted. We out-organized them. And then they just set up shop somewhere else. What I think about it is they’ll always do that.”
While the disappointment with Whitmer has left the future of the Nevada Democratic Party in a state of deep uncertainty, it has also sparked broader questions. For veterans of the Reid machine, those questions center on how to maneuver in the critical 2024 cycle without fracturing the party further. For Bernie followers, it’s whether it’s even worthwhile to take control of state parties at all.
“I think this is a lesson learned that that’s maybe not the best use of time,” said a former Sanders staffer in Nevada, who added that the progressive movement in the state has now been set back. “It really feels like any efforts to elect progressive or left-wing candidates here is back to square one. Whereas when Judith was coming into this role, there really was a foundation that could have continued to be built upon.”

I have an ask box. It’s open, If I remember correctly! I’ll take little art requests if they’re Sanders Sides related, if anybody would be remotely interested, but eh. I’ll do ship art. One thing, it’s gotta be SFW and I make no promises on them at all, if I DO somehow get any requests.
• One thing I will say. Please do not give me an ask for financial aid of any kind in any situation. I don’t have any money to give, nor am I allowed to.
Some things about me!
My favorite color is purple.
I am physically unable to give a favorite song. I LISTEN TO A LOT OF MUSIC.

Orange is Offence
I've seen several different theories floating around both prior to and post the new aside video, Working THROUGH Intrusive Thoughts. So I decided to throw my two cents in.
So my main cause for concern about Orange's identity has always been that he is never explicitly referenced by ANY of the other sides. They never once speak of him, but he has made himself known before, such as in the episode SVS Redux, when he appears briefly amid one of the videogame cutaways as an orange colored 4110.
This is the first instance we've had of a dark side choosing to attempt communication individually without aid or disguise from the other sides.
For instance, our first known hint of Remus actually comes from the episode The Sanders Sides 12 Days of Christmas, where Roman says the line:
"May visions of sugarplums dance in your head and hopefully not visions of your naked aunt Patty... Yeah, I don't know where that came from."
And later in Remus's introduction song, this image appears behind him:
For Janus, his existence was first hinted when he silences Roman from speaking in Accepting Anxiety Part 2/2. Later when he finally did reveal himself, whenever he would appear it would always be as one of the four main sides.
Then why is Orange different? Why was he able to speak to Thomas (in an albeit round about way through a videogame screen) when he has yet to show himself fully to him?
Well first lets look at what the color orange represents.
A few positive meanings of orange, of many, include balance, freedom, and expression. The most common negative associations of the color include crassness, rudeness, and frivolity.
Next, the newest big revelation in TSS since Deceit's reveal.
Logan's outburst:
Now, many people have been theorizing that Orange is a part of Logan, and that they could be either a dichotomy/set of twins such as with Roman and Remus. But I don't think that's the case.
(I'd like to give credit to @candiecards for this next portion.)
In fact, I don't think Orange has any significant relation to Logan apart from the other sides. Rather, I think Orange is using Logan as an easy target/susceptible vessel. Just like how Janus would only appear by mimicking the other sides and disguising himself as him, I think Orange manipulates the other sides through a sort of mind control. Which is why he would be able to greet Thomas through the 43110 screen, by manipulating and altering Roman's videogame example to suit his needs.
First off, Logan has always been rather short-tempered, this is nothing new. In fact, Thomas called him (and Roman) out on it in the episode Fitting In (Hogwarts Houses!). Also, remember the time in Learning New Things About Ourselves, when Logan grew so annoyed with Roman's constant berating of his character, screamed, and threw a notecard at his eye? If Orange was always a part of him, and can be presumed to appear in fits of rage, why didn't he appear then?
Because he isn't inherently connected to Logan.
But Logan is becoming an easy target for Orange.
Over the past few episodes, and even throughout the series, Logan has been feeling left out and ignored. He was benched in SVS and was skipped and tossed aside in SVS Redux. Besides Roman, I'd say Logan is the most self-engrossed and prideful, believing that he is more important to Thomas than the other sides. He even stated in Learning New Things About Ourselves that he is the one who "maintains order."
However, when we are introduced to the state of Thomas's life in the newest episode, it is clear that Thomas is completely disorganized and has lost any sense of control over minimal things such as keeping clothes off his staircase.
It's then made clear by the way Logan speaks with Thomas that he has been trying for an undetermined amount of time to convince Thomas to reorganize himself, but that Thomas has ignored him each time.
Throughout the episode we see Logan eagerly push Thomas to work on his set schedule, but then conceding several times to Thomas's more pressing needs to deal with Remus and his intrusive thoughts over Nico's lack of a reply to a text he sent the previous day. Logan does appear patient with both Thomas and Remus, trying to logic his way through each set back, telling Thomas it's okay to take a break because of his intrusive thoughts, and trying to reason with Remus to hold himself back so he can work with Thomas more efficiently. Of course, it doesn't work, and he snaps at Remus to stop ignoring him.
Interestingly enough, at the same time Logan snaps, Thomas, who had previously appeared only anxious over Nico, then appears angry that he's being ghosted.
They become offended over the same thing. Being ignored.
Before I continue, allow me to provide a clear definition of the word offence.
Offence (noun): annoyance or resentment brought about by a perceived insult to or disregard for oneself or one's standards or principles.
As a reminder, the color orange can represent both freedom, expression, and crudeness.
When one believes that their freedom and expression of themselves and their beliefs have been insulted they take offence and often lash out in anger and become crude.
Offence can come from many places, it can come from different experiences, different expressions and emotions; but the reaction that is birthed from that offence is almost always outbursts of anger. Just think of a self-righteous Karen demanding to see a manager.
Throughout the story, Logan has been teased and ridiculed for his love and belief in strict and ridged methods and lifestyles. For him, planning and organizing and due dates are all fun things he enjoys, but to the other sides, its all just a bore and they make fun of him for it.
Logan comes off as (one of) the "angriest" side because he is constantly taking offence from others and defending himself. He is also more emotionally stifled than the other sides and does not know how to properly regulate his emotions, making him more prone to outbursts of anger. This would make it easy for Orange to take over/control him, by using his anger to blind him.
I mentioned in an old theory of mine, What is Deceit Really After?, that I believe Janus is plotting to create a power shift a from the "light" sides to the "dark" sides. And while in that theory I said I believe Janus would try to manipulate Virgil to gain power, although I still think that may be possible, I now also believe that Janus wants Orange to use Logan's offence and anger against him to control and manipulate him instead. After all, Janus was the one responsible for keeping the dark sides suppressed, only allowed to appear if Thomas wished to see them. But now they are appearing without Thomas first giving his consent to meet them.
He released Remus, promising that he would make sure that Thomas would no longer "deceive [himself] about the ugliness within [him]." Orange's sudden appearance could be the next step in Janus's plan to gain control, although I'm not sure what he could have offered Orange in exchange.
In the final moments of the episode, Janus is perched on a tree where he eats a green apple and says "Yes, everything is just fine."
As pointed out by @ethecookednoodle green apples represent matters of the mind.
The green apple at the end could very well hint at the upcoming events of the story regarding Logan and orange as the side representing Thomas's mind, and the side that performs mind-control over those who lose themselves to offence.
After all, whether he believes it or not, Logan has the most say in what Thomas does and thinks, comparable only to Patton, who Janus is in the process of seducing.

And Sander is dared to walk to the edge of the ledge by his mates....sander is not really the athletic type but his ego! So he does but Robbe watches from where he is with his friends..and sees sander might be dizzy and all and he goes and pulls him over .. cos yk nobody else dares to its too high n narrow
there is a character called Cassie who had leaked nudes and videos posted by ex manipulative boyfriends at school. Like, when Robbe starts dating Sander who has no idea about it, he is scared that once he finds out he will leave him, but then Sander confronts him telling him he doesn't care about it and that Robbe shouldn't let this define him
It’s a very cold night, Robbe wishes Moyo’s car had a heater that worked but at least is small enough where the air doesn’t get too cold when they have the windows up.
Robbe doesn’t even know why he bothered to leave his warm and comfortable home to be here, sitting inside Moyo’s old car, staring at a bunch of dumb guys trying to find a way to go up this old and rotten, improvised wooden ledge. It feels and looks like it was made to burn a bunch of witches centuries ago and someone forgot to take it down.
He knows why he came but it’s just stupid. Sander asked him to come and Robbe still hasn’t found a way for his unconscious to not want to be around Sander all the time. They haven’t talked in a few days, Robbe left him on read but Sander still texted him and asked him to come so they could see each other.
It’s almost cold enough to snow and freeze every surface, Robbe can only hope those beams are steady enough, not too slippery.
They could be outside, drinking and talking to the cool, older guys from their school but after all the gossip, Robbe prefers to keep a distance, not sure who knows about it and how much.
Things were still very fresh and uncertain between them before Robbe decided to drop the bomb and get it over with, he doesn’t even know what being in an actual relationship is but he felt like he needed to put everything out before Sander could even think about making things official. Exactly because it was out of his hands.
It was a heavy secret to carry and it was out anyway, not because he wanted to. Even months after everything, a lot of people still look over their shoulders when walking by him. And Robbe knows it’s still a subject every time someone has to explain who he is. Instead of talking about his full name, his friends, his appearance to make someone remember him, they talk about that stupid video and their memories light up like firework.
It’s funny, Robbe feels like his ego, his confidence, self-love, everything was burned down like witches were a day in the past.
“I’m stupid and even I think that’s a stupid idea,” Moyo comments sitting next to him on the driver’s seat and Robbe blinks, sitting a little more comfortably, looking at Moyo, eating popcorn like this is an actual show.
They were starving on their way here, Jens and Aaron had surprisingly better things to do so it’s just the two of them. And they had no cash in them so Robbe brought some popcorns he made while waiting for Moyo and Moyo brought them some cheap beers he had sitting inside his fridge. It’s not bad, Robbe likes spending time with Moyo after everything they went through, after spending lots and lots of days walking around the city, talking about everything, they understood each other better and Robbe knew Moyo didn’t mean his words and Robbe knew he wasn’t the best either, pushing Sander out of his home like that a month ago.
Sander is the last one to climb, clearly the least athletic one of his group of friends, but he’s not finding it hard either. Robbe is almost sure he’s just bored, finding no fun in working out without meaning to but being too competitive and an adrenaline junkie not to try.
“Would you do it?”
Moyo stops eating and Robbe looks at him and Moyo is already staring at him, laughing at his face.
“Bro, I just said it’s a dumb idea. Of course I wouldn’t do it!”
Robbe opens his first beer of this cold Friday night, hoping to get at least some buzz out of it. He puts it back down in between the seat to adjust his jacket first, zipping it all the way up to his jaw.
“I can’t believe your boyfriend is doing it.”
Robbe sighs, staring from afar, recognizing only the black silhouette and the white hair contrasting his clothes now that they’re up higher, almost at the top.
“He’s not my boyfriend,” He whispers and it doesn’t go unnoticed in his insecure brain how Moyo laughs quietly, back to eating popcorn.
“Yeah, he is. You are afraid to talk to him but one thing has nothing to do with the other.”
Robbe grabs his beer again, needing to push himself forward on the seat as he follows them on their last pull to the top. He can see Sander clearly again once he’s at the top and it looks so stupidly high. The boys celebrate and hug each other and kind of push each other and it makes Robbe feel nauseous just looking at them.
“I don’t want to see anyone dying tonight, bro.” Moyo’s concerning voice makes all the red flags jump to the forefront and Robbe searches for his phone, his talk with Sander down the list since he hasn’t really replied to many of Sander’s texts since he found out about the leaked video.
He starts typing but that seems stupid. Sander won’t stop his competition with his friends to answer a text so Robbe decides to call him, ignoring how his friends are around him, able to hear who’s calling.
Robbe sees Sander tapping his jeans and finally grabbing his phone, accepting the call.
“Hello.” He says like he’s being formal and Robbe rolls his eyes, talking low even if it doesn’t matter, Moyo will hear them anyway.
“Hi…”
“Talk about an unexpected call.” Robbe can hear the familiar teasing in Sander’s voice and he can’t control how it makes him blush, even from afar, around a bunch of people.
“What are you doing up there?”
“Admiring the view, I guess.”
“This sounds like a dumb idea. It’s freezing cold, the wood is probably rotten and slippery.”
“Are you scared for me, Robbe?” He can see Sander walking down a slimmer ledge that nobody else tries to go down and Robbe wishes he could punch him right now.
“I don’t want you to die, no.”
“Why not?”
“Don’t be an asshole.”
“I’m not! I’m just genuinely curious. It’s not like you’ve been answering much of my texts and suddenly you’re worried I’ll die if I fall here. It’s not a big fall, if that makes you more comfortable, it’ll be quick.” Sander comes back to the place where his friends are, a tiny area where the beams are closer together and Robbe can hear in the background them challenging Sander to go somewhere else that sounds dangerous already.
“Don’t say that. Please, just come down already. I’m sure there’s not much to do there, not much room either.”
“You wanna come to see? It’s beautiful.”
“No, Sander. I want you to stop being stupid, that’s all.”
Sander sighs on the other side and Robbe can see him looking up at the blue sky, no clouds at sight.
“You are extremely boring.”
“Maybe I am.”
“And very cute too.” Robbe doesn’t answer that one, hearing Moyo snort next to him and he’s sure Sander’s friends are having similar reactions, “I’m coming down in a second. Can we talk then?”
“There’s not much to talk about.”
“You know there is.”
Robbe looks at Moyo carefully. He knows about the stupid video, everyone knows, of course, but it’s not like Robbe wants to mention it ever again in front of anyone, ever. But he needs to talk to Sander about it at some point because he was the one to start the conversation, ripping the band-aid off at once was the idea at the time, and if that’s what will make Sander come down, then Robbe will do it.
He opens the door and leaves the car, the freezing cold air taking his breath away as he leans against the window from the back seat, feeling it freezing him almost instantly even through many layers of thick clothes.
“Okay. If you come down, we’ll talk.”
Sander sighs again, “Finally.”
He ends the call, talking with his friends again and as Robbe sits back inside the old car, rubbing his hands against his thighs, he finally sees Sander coming back down carefully before anyone else.
“Do you want me to leave?” Moyo asks after a long, weird silence. Robbe looks at him like Moyo just punched him in the face.
“What? No! You brought me here!”
“Because you asked!” Moyo says just as surprised.
“Moyo, please don’t leave. I’m just going to talk to him and we’ll go if you want.”
Moyo sighs, shrugging, grabbing another beer, “Okay...whatever you say, bro.”
Robbe feels himself getting more nervous, his mouth completely dry, his hands freezing cold but still sweaty no matter how much he runs his palms through his jeans.
Sander is finally on the ground after what feels like forever, safe and with no injuries, walking to the car feels like he’s in a movie scene, Robbe sees him like he’s walking in slow motion.
“I’ll be right back.” He jumps out of the car before Sander can have the opportunity to interact with Moyo even through the window.
Sander looks different, taller, his hair a little longer, with the dark roots getting out of control but Robbe thinks he prefers it like this and the difference is from the lack of dates between them in the past week or so. Not that he has to like any difference.
“Hi…” He curses when his voice breaks a little bit, too low and Sander smiles at the corner of his lips.
“Hello.”
Robbe nods his head, looking around, just the huge clearing around them, the pine trees a couple of dozens of meters down the road. Sander doesn’t say anything, just starts walking away from the car to give them some privacy and Robbe decides that’s a good idea, walking with him.
He thought so much about this: the first time they would have an actual conversation, face to face, what he would say, what he could say to explain how a video of him is now public property, how Sander would think differently of him now and have a whole new idea of who Robbe is based on what he did. He would think Robbe is easy and stupidly horny and...so fucking dumb. And Robbe is none of that. Maybe stupid, but what bothers him so much is how who he is is now completely ignored because of what people will judge of him and of his character for having a sex tape leaked without his consent.
He feels like crying all over again so he stops thinking about it or he’ll have another panic attack right here and that’s the only thing that could make this situation even worse.
“So…” Sander clears his throat and Robbe jumps a little, realizing he should be the one talking, that Sander is giving him all the space he wants to tell his side of the story and Robbe is just unable to explain what happened and how he ended up in such a terrible situation.
“I’m sorry.” He ends up with that, and his voice sounds too low and broken again and Robbe just gives up completely, turning back around to go home but Sander follows him quickly, stopping in front of him.
“Robbe. I want to hear you.”
“There’s nothing to say, Sander! I trusted someone I shouldn’t. I had cyber sex with a fucking idiot and now everyone knows how dumb I am, and apparently how good or bad I’m in bed.”
“Hey, hey.” Sander puts his heavy hands on Robbe’s shoulders, them being the only things keeping Robbe in place, standing on his own legs, “Breath for a second.”
He does as he’s told without noticing, trying to even his breath, keeping them slower and slower and longer as he calms back down.
“You trusted an asshole and it doesn’t make you the bad person in the situation, Robbe. He was a fucking piece of shit, not you. This is not about you. I don’t care about that stupid video.”
Robbe heard these words before, I don’t care about it but it never feels like it doesn’t matter. No matter how little people care, they all already know, they all probably watched it and they already formed opinions about him and who he is without knowing him.
“If you need someone to go to the police with, I’ll go with you, I’ll testify, anything that they might need.”
Robbe puts his hands on his face, trying to control his breathing again and Sander stands closer, not hugging him but close enough where his presence gives Robbe some peace.
“Can we not talk about this?”
They’re close enough that Robbe feels when Sander nods his head, his hands quietly squeezing Robbe’s shoulders.
“Of course. I just want to talk to you, about anything. And you’re not even giving me the chance.”
Robbe sighs, putting his hands down slowly, looking back at Sander.
“I’m clearly a mess, I don’t know if I can keep a conversation these days.”
Sander smiles softly.
“We can not talk then. Just sit across the table from each other at a restaurant or something, eat in silence. We can go to my or your place if you’re more comfortable that way. Again, eating in silence. I’ll even let you pick what we’ll eat.”
“Why do you care so much?”
Sander sighs loudly, looking up, searching for his answer again in the sky, the universe around them, spinning and spinning around nonstop.
“I don’t know but I do.”
Robbe stands on his tiptoes, hugging Sander with no second intention, just needing to be held for a second without feeling like he’s been taking advantage of.
“I have roommates.”
Sander snorts, “They’ll probably be weirded out because I keep flirting with you constantly but I don’t have any issues doing it in front of them.”
Robbe shakes his head, stepping back from Sander, liking how his hands stay on Robbe’s waist for a little longer.
“I won’t torture you to spend too much time with Milan but just...they’ll probably be home, just not in the same room.”
Sander nods his head, agreeing with Robbe’s only rule.
“That’s fine by me.”

Sanders Sides Fanfiction Virgil X Logan (Analogical), Virgil X Roman (Prinxiety), Logan has Hanahaki for Virgil 4,812 Words Ao3 Link
Logan Connaissance and Virgil Angoisse had been best friends since seventh grade, but they started to drift apart in freshman year. Why? Because Virgil started dating the only guy who managed to be a theatre kid and a jock, Roman Prince. Roman was nice to Virgil, but he and Logan absolutely hated each other. They disagreed on just about everything, the only thing they had in common was the jelly brand they enjoyed.
Logan Connaissance and Virgil Angoisse had been best friends since seventh grade, but they started to drift apart in sophomore year. Why? Because Virgil started dating the only guy who managed to be a theatre kid and a jock, Roman Prince.
Roman was nice to Virgil, but he and Logan absolutely hated each other. They disagreed on just about everything, the only thing they had in common was the jelly brand they enjoyed.
The longer Roman and Virgil dated, the more confused Logan became about his feelings. He thought he had never felt love, but the research he was doing led him to believe he was feeling it currently towards Virgil. He had no idea if this love was platonic or romantic, but one thing he knew for sure was that he was going to ignore it.
One day in sophomore year, Logan and Virgil were going through the lunch line together, as they always did, when Virgil piped up, “Hey, Lo?”
“Yes, Virgil?”
“Do you think we could maybe sit with Roman today? I know it messes up your routine and is probably annoying and frustrating but I-”
“Virgil,” Logan made eye contact and stopped walking, “you’re spiraling. I would greatly enjoy spending lunch with you as well as Roman.” Logan knew he shouldn’t lie, but this was the only way.
Virgil let out a breath of relief, “Oh thank god. Awesome, his usual table is this way.”
They walked to the table and the conversation going on was about sexuality and LGBTQ+, and they were sharing their identities.
Virgil sat down next to Roman, Roman snaking an arm around his waist. Virgil blushed but did nothing to stop it.
Since they were already sharing, they decided to go around the table and say their names too.
“Roman, gay. Duh.”
“Virgil, asexual and gay-romantic”
“Virgil, it’s homoromantic.”
“I know, but gay-romantic is better.”
Logan sighed, “Logan, asexual and panromantic.”
“Patton, pan!” Patton grabbed his backpack and pointed to a button on it with a picture of a frying pan. Logan stared at him for a moment before sighing.
“Janus, gay.”
“Remus! Roman’s aro-ace brother!” Remus cackled as everyone gagged at his inside out eyelids, excluding Logan.
Janus groaned, “It’s not like we’re eating or anything!
Roman pushed Remus so he fell off the bench, laughing the whole way down. “Hey, I’ve got an idea! Once we’re done eating we should help draw pride flags on each other’s hands!”
As lunch went on, Logan was able to participate (sometimes with Virgil’s help), keep up with the conversation, and even laugh! He’s always had trouble making friends, Virgil had been the best thing that had ever happened to him. He had trouble keeping up with conversations because he usually found them uninteresting and zoned out, reading, writing, or just thinking if he couldn’t do those. He actually couldn’t remember the last time he laughed about anything other than something he learned or something Virgil told him.
Only as he was walking home, ace flag on one hand and pan flag on the other, did Logan’s smile fall for good. He had just split off from Virgil, walking down the street to his house.
He opened the door, calmly stating, “I’m home. What would you like for dinner?”
“Oh honey, you don-”
“Shut up! Don’t you know what kids are for? Especially fucking defective ones like him!” Logan just stared as his father gestured to him with a beer bottle. “Fucking robot. Go make us some spaghetti. You don’t get any tonight.”
Logan’s mother just sadly watched, too frightened to intervene.
“Yes, sir.” Logan nodded at his father. As soon as the giant burly man flopped back down on the couch to drink and flip channels, Logan quickly but calmly went into the kitchen and started boiling the water.
His mother eventually came in and sat down, adjusting her taped-together glasses as she softly said, “I’m so sorry, Logan.”
“I know, mother.”
“I’m so sorry for everything, I just don’t know what to do, I just-”
Logan went over and gently touched his mother’s shoulders, “Mother, it’s alright. Next year, I’ll be able to get a job and-”
“But you shouldn’t have to! I should be able to speak up to my husband and get us out of here but I can’t !” She broke down sobbing, muttering “I can’t” over and over again under her breath.
Logan awkwardly rubbed her back for a few minutes before sighing and going back to making dinner.
At the dinner table, while Logan was dishing out the food, his father noticed something. Before Logan could sit down, his father yanked his hand towards him, already bruising Logan’s wrists.
“What the hell is this, Lo-bot? You some kind of fancy fag?!”
“I-I apologize, sir, it was for a project, they don’t mean anything-”
“No, no, no, I recognize these from those fucking inclusivity,” his father used air quotes, “posts on Facebook and those buttons on kids’ backpacks! You are a fag! I thought you didn’t have the capability for emotions, much less love! Not that it matters,” he stood up, dragging Logan by his wrists with him, “all you teens are just making it all up anyway!”
Logan barely resisted the multiple ‘um, actually’ moments as to not anger his father further, wrist bruises were already hard enough to hide.
“Nothing to say now, huh? Typical.” He slammed Logan’s head on the counter, Logan’s mother’s sobbing increasing volume in the background.
Logan’s eyesight was getting fuzzier and fuzzier, but he could tell his glasses were cracked. “Father, please, I-I have a t-test tomorrow, I can’t call in s-s-sick…”
Logan’s father gave a hardy laugh as he increased pressure on Logan, “Classic Lo-bot, only focused on school,” he lets his son go and pushes him in the general direction of his room, “Whatever, asshole. Go fix yourself up for your precious school !” he laughed and sat down to eat his spaghetti.
Logan staggered to his room, once inside getting his mirror and first aid kit out to assess the damage. He had a black eye, split lip, bruised wrists, a giant bruise on his jaw, and his suspicions were confirmed about his glasses, one lens almost entirely shattered.
He carefully took off his glasses, getting the tweezers and trying to pick out a few tiny pieces of glass with blurred vision. Thankfully, none of them got in his eye, but he was almost sure he had a concussion. He sighed and treated his wounds the best he could. Afterward, he got out another pair of glasses, ignoring the sting and splitting headache he got from looking at his laptop and researching makeup techniques to use tomorrow morning.
The six of them were at lunch when Virgil noticed something.
Everyone (excluding Logan) was talking about vampires.
Virgil initiated the conversation by saying, “Okay, okay, but who’s everyone’s favorite vampire?”
“Like, from all of fiction?”
“Yeah. I’ll go first, Angel from Buffy.”
Roman spoke up next, “The gayest and bestest vampire of them all, Marshall Lee the Vampire King!”
Virgil was already slightly suspicious when Logan didn’t correct Roman’s ‘bestest’ but was immediately distracted by Patton’s answer, “The guy from Sesame Street!”
“He doesn’t count!”
“Oh, I assure you he does.”
Virgil laughed, but then he noticed Logan’s expression. He was barely picking at his school lunch and his eye looked… red? Virgil had never seen Logan cry before, especially not at school, and even then it wouldn’t really make sense for him to have been crying and then just one eye be red. He gently tapped on the nerd’s hand, causing him to jolt and look up, “Hey, are you okay? Do you wanna come over for a bit today?”
“I, erm, I’m not sure. My parents won’t be… pleased.”
“Dude, they’re never pleased. I’m having Roman over for a sleepover this weekend anyway, my parents definitely won’t mind.”
“I…. suppose that could be alright. I will notify them that I won’t be home.”
Virgil gently chuckled, “Alright Lo. Just come to our normal spot, the three of us can walk together.” Virgil hooked his hand on Roman’s elbow.
At Roman’s questioning look, Virgil stated, “Logan’s gonna join our sleepover tonight. That ok?”
“Ah, yes! Any good prince knows how to compromise and improvise!”
Virgil laughed and Logan forced a smile. The rest of lunch passed normally, other than Logan still not participating much in the conversation. Patton wanted to ask, but felt it wasn’t his place since he hadn’t known him very long.
That evening, they walked home together as planned. Logan had been looking at his phone and putting it away again all night, however, and Virgil was getting suspicious. When Logan went to brush his teeth, he caught a quick glance at his phone, seeing at least fifty notifications from messages, all from contacts titled either ‘Father’ or ‘Mother’. All the texts from ‘Father’ were in all caps, but that’s all the information Virgil got just by looking at the lit-up screen while Logan brushed his teeth.
Virgil had his suspicions, but decided to keep quiet for now. He’d talk to Logan about it tomorrow, besides Virgil had known Logan long enough to know he needed as much sleep as he could get.
That night, they all set up sleeping bags (Logan used one of Virgil’s parents’s) since Virgil only had a twin bed and no one wanted to be sleeping in different places. The three teens had also gone around Virgil’s house and gathered all the extra pillows and blankets they could find and Virgil grabbed his weighted blanket.
They ended up sleeping with Virgil in the middle, which would’ve normally made him anxious, but with the combination of the weighted blanket and his love for those around him, he could sleep easily.
It’s really too bad that it took him so long to fall asleep.
As soon as Virgil felt Logan’s breathing even out, he tapped Roman’s shoulder, who eagerly stopped pretending and opened his eyes. Virgil climbed on top of Roman, eagerly making out with him. Maybe, if they hadn’t been so distracted, they could’ve noticed the hitched breaths of the form next to them.
Logan, knowing all too well how Virgil always waits until everyone else is asleep to sleep himself, pretended to be sleeping beside him. He had done this many times, both with Virgil and at home, his father was less likely to, ahem, bother Logan if he was asleep. What Logan didn’t expect was the telltale sounds of kissing next to him. He didn’t think they were at that stage yet, why didn’t Virgil tell him? By the sound of it, this is far from the first time. Why did that make him feel… angry? jealous? He wasn’t sure, but he thought they told each other everything.
He felt a tickle in his throat and covered his mouth, liquid coming out of his mouth onto his hand, if the lights had been on he’d have known that liquid was blood. Thankfully, Logan had a fair amount of experience when it came to suppressing coughs and staying silent, so he was able to make any movements seem like normal stirs.
The longer he held them in, the more they hurt, and the more nauseated he became. It seemed as if the more he heard Roman and Virgil the worse it became. After about fifteen solid minutes (Logan was counting) of making out, Roman and Virgil settled down. At that point, once they cuddled up and moved the warmth even farther away from Logan,
Logan expertly waited until Roman and Virgil’s breathing evened out and quietly and efficiently rushed to the bathroom to cough into the toilet, clumsily putting on his glasses as he went. He closed the door and took a slight risk by turning the light on, but was glad he did. He coughed into the toilet, feeling as if his throat was being torn apart from the inside out. When his coughs finally subsided and he looked into the now pink-tinged water he saw blood-soaked purple orchid petals.
Logan shivered as he remembered that purple orchids were Virgil’s favorite flower .
Memories came back to him in a flash.
“What the fuck are these flowers doing here? Do you love someone else?”
“No, baby! I love you, you know that!”
“These say something else, bitch. Who. Are. They. For.”
“No! I won’t tell you!”
Eight-year-old Logan flinched in bed as he heard a slap.
“WHO?!” A punch. “WHO?!” A kick. “WHO?!” A crash and a loud cry.
“Okay! I’m sorry! It was… Remy. The man at the coffee shop I stop at on the way to work. I’m so sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry…”
Logan remembered the man at the coffee shop, he liked his NASA shirt and gave him a free cake pop. The blackberry and pomegranate one dyed blue. Remy said he requested it from the owner of the bakery himself.
“Oh I’ll get that little dick for you baby, and then I’ll remove your flowers personally.”
Logan sobbed, thankfully being masked by his mother’s own sobs and the slamming of a door.
Logan didn’t know what to do. He couldn’t tell his parents, even if he did father wouldn’t pay for surgery and mother couldn’t. Father would only make fun of him and it’d only make mother sad.
Logan allowed himself a few silent tears before flushing the toilet and washing the blood off at the same time in order to not drag out the sound.
He turned off the light, opened the door, and walked back to the sleeping bags, disheartened and almost needing to go back when he saw Roman and Virgil cuddling, sleeping peacefully.
That whole weekend was hell for Logan. The more he saw Roman and Virgil doing couple-y things the more accelerated the Hanahaki coughs became.
That Saturday though, Logan was pleasantly surprised. Roman had brought them to a coffee shop closer to his house (the other side of town from Virgil and Logan) and Logan immediately recognized the barista.
“Remy? Is that you?”
“Lo-Lo! Omg girl I haven’t seen you in for ever !” Rent came out from behind the counter and hugged Logan.
“Uh, L? Who’s this?”
“Oh, my apologies, this is my old friend Remy. We haven’t seen each other in years but my mother used to go by his bakery every morning on the way to work. I hadn’t realized the location had moved.”
“Yeah, about that, do you wanna maybe catch up in the back? I can ask Emile to take over the front for a bit, he’ll understand.”
Logan nodded, and Remy brought him behind the counter and a man with a pink tie and a yellow apron came out to help Virgil and Roman order.
“Wonder what that’s about…”
“Yeah, no offense to him but I thought you were his only friend before he met the group.”
Meanwhile, in the back of the shop, Remy and Logan were catching up.
“Remy, I thought you were dead. Did my father do something?”
“Jumpin’ right in, aren’t we? Fuck yeah, your father did something, that’s why I have this,” Remy pulled up his shirt to show a deep scar on his abdomen.
Logan gasped, “I’m so sorry-”
“Don’t apologize for him, he’s an asshole, it doesn’t mean you are. You were seven, man.”
Logan sighed and looked down, “I know.”
“Anyway he never actually said why? He mentioned your mom, but just kinda went for it.”
“Wait, you don’t know?”
“He didn’t exactly stop and tell me, babe, he just waited for me to get off work and jumped me. Must not’ve known much about human bodies though because he never checked to see if I was dead, just left me bleeding out there. Thank god I was able to call Emile in time.”
“My mother, she had Hanahaki… for you,” Remy raised an eyebrow, “When my father found out he forced her to tell him who it was for and, well you’re aware of what happened next.”
“Oh wow. Well, I’m gay so it being unrequited tracks. I guess when she thought I was dead it went away?”
“I suppose so. May I ask why you didn’t report it to the authorities?”
“Well, Emile was a doctor before opening the bakery so he knew enough to patch me up, and your father was wearing a mask so I didn’t get his face. We were planning on changing locations anyway, so we just kinda didn’t? Why, would you have wanted me to? I won’t hesitate to stab a bitch back for you, hun.”
“No, that won’t be necessary, I was simply curious.”
“Although, now that I think about it, the day of and the month after Emile said he didn’t see her at all, why did your mom stop coming? Did she know?”
“Father made her quit her job, she had no reason to come anymore.”
Remy was looking at Logan in shocked silence, amazed at how calmly Logan stated such a horrible thing.
“Lo-Lo, is your father… abusive? To you or your mother?”
“No! What made you think that?!”
“Calm down, Lo, it’s alright, I believe you.”
Logan sat back down, when had he stood up? He took a deep breath.
“Logan, let me give you my number,” Remy gently held his hand out.
Logan relented, opening his phone to create a new contact and handing it over. When he got it back, it had tons of emojis after the name, but Logan could edit it later. He chuckled and put his phone away, “Well Remy, I’m glad we got to talk. I genuinely thought you were dead. It’s a… relief, to know you’re alright.” Logan finished with a soft smile.
“You too, kid,” Remy chuckled as he ruffled Logan’s hair.
When they came out, Roman and Virgil were already sitting at a table, three drinks on it with them. Logan smiled as he knew Virgil got him exactly what he wanted.
“Oh, Lo, before I forget! Meet Emile, my husband.”
“So this is the Logan I’ve heard so much about?” Emile held his hand out to Logan, “Emile Picani, do you how do?.”
Logan’s face flushed and it took him a second to process that what he said had to be a reference, but he shook Emile’s hand and put two and two together in his head, “Wait, Picani? You wouldn’t happen to know a Patton, would you?”
“Oh, yes! Patton is our son,” Emile wrapped his arms around Remy’s waist, “Are you and him friends at school?”
“Yes sir, we sit together at lunch, Virgil and Roman sit with us too,” Logan gestured to Virgil and Roman, who were already not-so-subtly listening to the conversation.
Emile repressed the urge to cringe at ‘sir’ before he looked at Roman and Virgil, “Hi there!” he gestured to Remy and himself, “We’re Patton’s parents! And Remy here is an old friend of Logan’s, his mom visited here often before we changed locations.”
“Oh cool, nice to meet you!” Roman excitedly stood up and shook Emile’s hand.
Emile and Remy both chuckled before Virgil added, “‘Sup.” with a two-fingered salute.
Logan wanted to stay and enjoy the moment, but he felt a familiar tickle in his throat when he saw Roman and Virgil were sharing a shake and he couldn’t take it any longer. “Excuse me,” he rushed to the bathroom, ignoring the questioning looks.
He threw open the door and rushed into a stall, hastily locking the door behind him. He started to cough into the toilet, the smell of iron permeating his senses. He could feel the spikes from the orchid’s stem in his throat jerking around as he coughs up as much as his body will allow.
Once his coughs finally subside, he looks into the dark pink-tinged water, surprised to see an entire flower floating in the water. Logan gulps as he remembered a quote from an article he read when his mother had Hanahaki.
Once the patient inflicted coughs up an entire flower, that individual has from three days to a week to get it removed, or the patient will die. The next and final stage after a flower is another flower, this time attached to a stem, usually roots as well.
Logan sat kneeled by the toilet and contemplated. He wasn’t ready to die. He was so excited to become an adult and do all the things he ever dreamed of. Going to college, getting his Ph.D., getting a cat, actually being diagnosed for the autism he was sure he had, learning even more about the world and what lies beyond it… He… didn’t know what to do. Where should he go from here? He knew he should look into an agency or something to help him, there almost certainly is one, but would he have to go to the hospital? Would they have to know who his parents are? He couldn’t risk that. He didn’t want his father to hurt him or his mother, much less his friends. Not after what happened to Remy.
Logan stood up and washed his hands, knowing what he had to do.
He had it all planned out, he couldn’t be at home when it happened. He had his letters in his bag at all times and coughed as little as possible when at home. Luckily for Logan, the coughing fits didn’t get triggered as often at home, at least not severe enough to cause suspicion.
He walked to the bus stop alone, again. Roman had a car that didn’t have a backseat so he could take one person places but not more, so Virgil had been riding with him instead of walking with Logan more and more.
When Logan got to school, he had quite a surprise waiting for him. When he opened his locker, shaving cream fell out of it and got all over his outfit. He heard some kids laughing behind him and just by their laughter could tell it was Luke and Maddie, a couple who had bullied him since elementary school. He sighed, wiping the shaving cream off his shirt. When he picked up his books, it looked like they had put something else in his locker, making the pages of his books and journals sticky and wrinkled up. From the smell, it was probably Sprite.
He just sighed again and shoved his books in his bag. There’s not long left until this is all over, Logan, keep your cool .
His day went about as well as it could after that, but lunch was what finalized his plan. After getting his food, he looked at his table only to see someone else in his spot. Some girl with half of her hair pink and shoulder-length while the other half was brown and shaved to a buzz cut.
Logan lost it. He never went over to the table, he never even ate his lunch. Maybe if he had he’d have known that she had just got there, she was flirting with Roman and about to be turned down (for many reasons), but sadly he did not.
He dropped his lunch tray and ran to the bathroom, getting Virgil’s(and everyone in the cafeteria’s) attention, and Virgil and Roman both ran after him.
When Logan got to the bathroom, he was already sobbing, clumsily opening the wheelchair-friendly stall door and slumped down in the corner after locking the door.
He was still sobbing horribly, everything finally getting to him. His bullies, his disease, his parents, his classmates, Remy, Roman, Virgil, everything .
He opened up his phone and went to Roman’s Instagram account, scrolling through all the pictures of him and Virgil looking so happy together, knowing it would speed up the process and trigger coughing fits.
“Logan! L what’s wrong?!” Virgil banged on the stall door, only getting more sobs in response, “L please open the door I only want to help!”
“Me too!”
“Roman, I think it’d be best if you left, sorry. Logan and I need to talk alone.”
“Oh, uh, okay…” Roman hesitantly leaves the bathroom and sits outside.
“Logan? Please talk to me? It’s just us, I checked all the stalls.”
Virgil was shocked and scared to hear the horrible hacking coughs coming from Logan’s throat.
Eventually, the coughing stopped. Virgil yelled and yelled his name, and eventually Roman came back inside, “Virgil? What’s wrong?”
“He’s not responding anymore! Go get the nurse! Or anyone who can open this stall door!”
Eventually, they were able to get the door open, but what Virgil saw would forever be burned into the back of his eyes. The dead body of Logan, blood all over him, staining his tie and his books which had fallen from his bag. Blood-soaked purple orchid petals surrounding him and in the toilet, even some entire flowers in his lap. Virgil’s heart shattered when he thought about how his favorite flowers were purple orchids… not anymore, though.
Virgil saw a paper sized orange folder, just the corner stained with blood, labeled
Friends
Family
Inside, he found five envelopes, labeled Mother and Father , Remy, Emile, and Patton , Janus and Remus , Roman , and Virgil .
Later that night, after giving the other letters to the rightful owners(or in Logan’s parents’s case, putting the letter on their doorstep, ringing the doorbell, and then running away), he snuggled into his bed to read his.
Virgil,
As I’m sure you’ve figured out by now, you were my unrequited love. I hadn’t had a word to put to my feelings toward you until you started dating Roman, which triggered the Hanahaki disease in my system. You deserve the world, the sun, the moon, and all the stars, and I’m sorry you only got me. I’m sorry I’ll be gone, but I know you’ll make it through high school with or without me. You’re an incredibly smart, kind, vigilant, clever, handsome, and helpful individual, I’m so glad I had the privilege of being alive at the same time as you.
Logan
Janus and Remus,
I wish I had the opportunity to get to know the two of you better. You were always kind to me and welcomed me to your group with open arms. Thank you for bringing a smile to my days, even if school is a figurative hellhole. Just so you’re aware, I had Hanahaki for Virgil. I wish I could write out in detail how it feels for you, Remus, but I find thinking about it usually triggers a coughing fit, and I do not want to go to my home.
Logan
Remy, Emile, and Patton,
Patton, I’m sorry I never got to know you better, but you were always kind to me despite me being new and you not really knowing me. While most of your puns made me “cringe”, I did actually enjoy some of them, so thank you for bringing joy to my life.
Emile and Remy, I don’t know whether or not the two of you will be informed, but I had Hanahaki. Specifically for Virgil, but that’s not really important. I wish my father wasn’t so cruel to you, especially since you never did anything purposely against him. Again, I apologize for his behavior. I wish mother and I could’ve had a normal relationship with you, instead of her being so sheltered she fell for the first guy to treat her like a person before my father.
Logan
Mother,
Thank you for trying your best to help me. My childhood wasn’t great, but the fondest memories I have of it are the times it was just you and me. I had Hanahaki, just like you. I knew you couldn’t afford the surgery and father wouldn’t allow me to have it, seeing as I had the disease for a boy, so I never brought it up. I didn’t want to drag out the sadness any more for you. I’m so sorry I couldn’t stay alive to be old enough to get a job and help us out of here, I hope you can forgive me.
Logan
Roman,
I am going to be entirely honest with you. When I first met you, I did not like you. And when you and Virgil became romantically involved, I began to hate you. But after all the sleepovers and lunches, I have learned that you are a good person. A person that I respect, whether I like you or not. Therefore, I entrust you with the most important job I can give; please look after Virgil for me. I do not care if you two continue to date, whatever happens, just please make sure he gets through life well enough. Help him mourn, be there for him when he cries, be there for him because I no longer can. Thank you.
Logan
Hope you enjoyed! Or cried, whatever Prompt: Hiding an Illness

we don't know if sander break up with britt over text, i don't know where you get this info but it's never mentioned. stop tainting sander character even more.
A Rant about did Sander break up with Britt via text & also why Britt would have made the perfect s4 antagonist main. She was literally perfect for the role.
Anon, you stop tainting Sander. Your Kato is starting to show meaning your need to base reality on assumptions and bias versus actual context. So lets critically think here about context and why Sander texting Britt a break up text is inferred and why its important to the story canon and actually highlighted to understand their overall dynamic as a couple. The first time we get a hint of Sander telling Britt he doesn’t want to be with her is in the cuddle clip. Robbe sees the heart text from Britt and he backs away and asks Sander why he hasn’t told her. His reactions here are very important as they paint a scene later:
and the most important clue is here:
This scene infers Sander did tell Britt but she just brushed him off as an episode or whatever she thinks. You also have to remember after this scene Sander does go back to Britt so in a way I can see why she maybe thinks the 2nd break up is more of the same on and off pattern. Also, Anon many viewers came to the same conclusion about the texting as can be seen by popular skam reactions youtubers kynicole & BillyMaier.
Now the “2nd” break up after 21:21 I also think Sander told her by text but more so for safety issues and to avoid being gaslighted. So the next inference, Sander picks Robbe up from school and the slap happens and the “stay away from my boyfriend” line comes out. Sander rebuttals Robbe’s “She didn’t seem to know that...” doubts by saying:
Once again I think Sander spoke to her again via text(but my takeaway here is he probably told her in person the night of/or morning after the “my jacket” post something along the lines of please stop being so controlling because she was obviously flexing to hurt Robbe. I think Sander eventually lets her know via text something like this “I just don’t think this is gonna work out. We arent a good fit”. I don’t think he spoke to her in-person because of this next scene:
And this one:
Britt can’t be reasoned with once she goes on the defensive. She gets argumentative, physical and tries to gaslight the other person. She isn’t afraid to hit below the belt she does the same to Jana. However I do understand Britt in a way. She keeps getting hurt by people she trust or considers on her side so her attacks are getting more and more vicious as time goes on. You want to talk about a good antagonist for s4? Britt would have been perfect. We have seen enough of her struggle that we get the “why” behind her shitty behavior and tho I hate how she treats people I can kinda of rationalize it at times. Anyways the fact that she sends Jana to tell Robbe about how much she is hurting and how much she has put up with and how she has “aided” Sander justifies to me why Sander probably broke up with her via text. Britt is really good at flipping the script on people. At making them feel like they are wrong and she is the victim and for emotional safety issues I think Sander broke up with her via text because you see through Robbe how brutal she can be when confronted in person.

Deceit Sanders Text Posts 32/?: Blind Edition
Image Descriptions Below
[One: Things not to say to a legally blind person: *“I totally know how that feels, I’m practically legally blind without my glasses.” *“well I know ____ and they’re blind cause of (insert disease that I don’t have here) and they got cured by having (insert surgery that costs $10,000).” *“I have blind friends and they can do this.” *“You don’t look blind.” *“Then how are you able to do this?” *Have you explored all your options? *“No Karen I’ve been blind for 7 years, and in that time I’ve never once explored any of my options. *Look, I’ll be real with y’all. I’m getting really fucking tired of the comments, I really am, *I don’t care if you’re trying to help, I’ve been blind for seven years, I do not need your advice and obviously I’ve talked to my fucking doctor about all my options, what kinda idiot do you think I am? *Needing glasses doesn’t make you legally blind and if I get a single comment on here saying otherwise I will freaking smack you. *No I don’t know your blind friend. We don’t all know each other. *No I don’t know how that other disease works, having an eye disease doesn’t make me an expert on eye diseases. *My eye disease really isn’t any of your business, if I choose to explain it to you fine, but I’m not a teacher and google exists for a reason. *I don’t owe you an explanation or a lesson on keratoconus. *And my final point is this; next time I get any of the above directed at me OR overhear it in any conversation made by the people who are supposed to me my friends, I’m chewing your ass out.
Two: Some sighted dolt wearing glasses: Man, it;s like incredible that some people can see without glasses. It like blows my mind. Me, a visually impared person: You know what’s even more amazing? That some people can just see by putting on just some glasses. :D Stop complaining you lucky bitch.
Three: Me, a blind person: *breathes* Every sighted person in a 12 mile radius: dID YOU KNOW THAT BLIND PEOPLE CAN USE ECHOLOCATION-
Four: We need to respect service and guide dogs more.
Five: Why don’t we put braille on boxes, cans, and other goods in the grocery store?
Six: I have started a horror novel in braille. Something bad is about to happen. I can feel it.
Seven: Me online: Yes, I am disabled and proud of it. Me in public: Maybe if I do not use my mobility aid the teenagers will not harass me.
Eight: Why are so many shows and movies so lazy with audio descriptions though?
Nine: PSA: sighted people, if you see a blind person on the street, please don’t grab their arm and try to guide them bc you’re not being helpful. Thb, it’s just really scary and I hate it.
Ten: PSA for people being nice and holding the door open for blind/visually impaired people: Please say when you’re holding the door. Think about it friends, we’re expecting a door and when there isn’t one, it’s very disorientating. We appreciate that you hold doors for us. But if you could just give us a ‘I got the door’ so we don’t get lost, that would be awesome. Thank you.]

Area 51
Wes Weston had nothing to live for. Ever since his Mom had gone out for cigarettes on his 6th birthday and never come back his life had been a constant downward spiral. Maybe that was why he was in the middle of the Nevada desert, preparing to attempt to rush a highly armed government facility with a million other suicidal Millenials.
He fanned his face with his hand. It was over 86 degrees and he was practically melting in his Casper High spirit T-Shirt and blue jeans. He contemplated getting into his pickup truck and blasting the a/c but considering he only had a quarter tank of gas left, and it was a good 20 miles to the nearest gas station, he decided against it. Instead, he got onto his phone and texted his friends for the third time that morning.
Basketball-Boi: where r yall? its hot.
Phurry: we’re just driving in!! Do u see us?
Basketball-Boi: uhhh whats ur car look like
Phurry: the silver one
Basketball: V there are like a million silver ones what kind of car
Phurry: uhh Val says its called a subaru we’re right by a black car
Red_Huntress: They’re standing on the roof and waving. Can you see us now?
Wes looked up from his phone to see a person, about his age, standing on the roof of a silver Subaru, wearing a black band t-shirt and neon green booty shorts. Their long blond ponytail swished around their face as they jumped up and down excitedly. A girl stepped out of the car and began scolding her friend. She was wearing a matching red pair of shorts, there was black lettering on her backside that he couldn’t quite make out. He began waving back, which only excited the blond more. They lept over the brown-skinned girl and bolted towards Wes.
“Ready to fuck some aliens, Basketball-Boi?” They pulled him into a tight embrace.
“I was born ready!” He laughed, “How are you, V?”
“Pretty gay, thanks for asking.”
Wes opened his mouth to speak but V cut him off with an excited shout.
“Oh! That reminds me!” They slipped their arms out of their backpack straps and dug through the mint green bag for a minute before pulling a pair of hot pink shorts, “I wanted us all to match! Made ‘em myself!”
They flipped the shorts around to reveal ‘100% Nasty’ embroidered onto the ass in black. They then turned around to show off their own message, that read ‘Trash Man’.
“I made one for Val too, c’mon, we have to wear them!!”
Wes grabbed the shorts and held them to his hips. “Is this what you needed my measurements for?”
They nodded enthusiastically, “I was gonna make us team jackets, but that’s so cliche.”
“Huh, I mean, don’t get me wrong, these are… great, but are you sure pink is my color?”
V rolled their eyes, “Of course I’m sure, Wes! Just put them on, you’ll see.”
Wes sighed and walked behind his red truck for some privacy, not that there was much of that, the field was crowded with cars. He pulled down his blue jeans, thankful for the breeze on his legs, and pulled on the shorts. They were a perfect fit, clinging to his waist, and resting on his barely existent hips. The feeling of showing so much skin was odd to him, he’d never worn anything that short in public, but the look on V’s face made it all worth it to him. They didn’t laugh like he’d been expecting them to, instead clapping their hands and going on about how relieved they were that the shorts actually fit. He did a quick turn for them, and they nodded in satisfaction.
“I think it’s about time we caught up to Val, did y’all remember to bring soda?”
“Only the finest Mountain Dew the 7/11 could provide, M’lady,” V grinned.
“Than shall we be going, M’lord?” Wes held out his arm.
“Indubitably.” V linked their arm through his and they wandered through the crowd, searching for Valerie’s silver Subaru.
“Wes! V! Over here!” Val called, waving the hand that wasn’t holding a Mountain Dew at her friends. The two of them waved back and jogged toward her.
“Hey Val, long time no see,” Wes grinned as he pulled her into a hug.
“I missed ya, Weston,” Val reached up to ruffle his hair, but Wes dodged, pulling her into a headlock instead.
“Missed ya too, Grey,” He gave her a noogie and released her, leaving her free to jump onto him and boost herself high enough to get revenge.
“Aww, adorable! Old lovebirds rekindling an old flame?” V fluttered their eyelashes at their friends, who immediately recoiled.
“Ew, no! Wes? If I had to pick a guy, maybe. And that’s a hard maybe. I’m too gay for this.” Valerie picked up her can from the hood of her car and took a swig.
“Yeah! She’s like my little sister!”
“Hey, I’m older than you!”
“By like two weeks!”
V broke into laughter, “Cool it lovebirds, I’m only joking.”
Val and Wes rolled their eyes at V, who was now on the ground, rolling with laughter.
“Permission to pour some soda out onto our hilarious friend’s head?” Val asked teasingly.
“Permission granted! Fire at will!” Wes saluted. Val tipped her can enough to sprinkle V with the sticky green drink. They got to their feet, still laughing, and lunged for Val’s can. They knocked it backward, spilling soda all over Val’s shirt.
“EEK,” She squealed, “You’ll pay for this, Trash Man, If it’s the last thing I do!”
She tried to push the can towards V, but they still had a grip on her arm. They tugged the can back and forth for a few seconds before it crumpled under the pressure.
“Shit!” Val swore, letting go of the can and cradling her palm. “I think I cut myself.”
V dropped the can, game of tag forgotten, and crowded next to their friend. Wes joined their huddle.
“I think I have a first aid kit in my truck. How bad is it?” He asked.
Val opened her hand to reveal a small, but deep wound on the side of her palm.
“Shit, I’m so sorry, this is all my fault, if I hadn’t-” V began.
“Naw, it was as much my fault as yours. Anyway, we were having fun, and it’s really just a scratch. Keep focused on those Aliens, Private!” Val reassured them.
“Aye aye, Captain!”
Wes walked back to his truck, ignoring the stares of passerby. He grabbed his first aid kid (thank god for boy scouts) and walked back to Val’s car.
“So,” Wes ripped open a disinfecting wipe with his teeth and got to work cleaning her hand of blood. “How’s your dad?”
“He’s doing-” She drew in a sharp breath as he dabbed along the wound with a clean wipe. “Fine. The new job’s working out great, he’s happier than I’ve seen him in a while.”
Wes nodded and began wrapping her hand in gauze, “I’m glad. He wasn’t himself when you left.”
“It really all did work out for the better, didn’t it,” V smiled and handed Wes a length of medical tape. “Oh! I forgot! Val, show Wes what your ass says!”
She groaned, “Do I have to?”
V scowled, “Of course you have to, it was your idea!”
“I was just joking!”
“Tsk tsk, I think you’ve known me long enough to know that when it comes to cursed content, there are no jokes.”
“C’mon Val, it can’t be worse than ‘100% Nasty’,” Wes smirked.
V gasped dramatically and feigned offense, “You’ve wounded me! I work so hard, and for what, ungrateful friends?”
“Fine, if it’ll make you happy I’ll show him my ass. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you.” She winked at him before turning to show her backside. Black embroidery spelled out ‘Booty Hunter’.
Wes burst out laughing, which quickly turned to hysteric noises only vaguely resembling laughter, squeals, and snorts with shrieking giggles between them. V and Val couldn’t help but join in. The second one of them stopped laughing someone would whisper Booty Hunter and it’d start all over again.
“Okay, okay,” Wes gulped in air, “We- hic -should calm down now.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” Val wiped a tear from her eye, “I am the Queen of Calm.”
V got to their feet and dusted themself off. “Totally calm. Calmer than a… something calm.”
“When does the raid start?” Wes pulled out his phone and checked the time. 12:00.
“Around, 12:30ish, we have time.” V waved their hand.
“I dunno, it’s already 12, maybe we should start getting ready.”
“What do you mean it’s already-” V snatched the phone from his hand, “Huh. Time sure flies when you’re having fun.”
“Wait, get ready for what exactly? I mean, we’re here, we’ve got our shorts on, there’s enough Mountain Dew in my car to drown an elephant, what else is there to get ready?” Val questioned.
“Uhhh, I dunno, stretch?” Wes shrugged, “It just feels like we’re forgetting something. What exactly is the plan for this whole thing anyway? Are there gonna be waves? Do we all go at once? This is a pretty poorly organized event.”
Val shrugged, clearly unphased by the lack of organization, “We’ll just go when everyone else starts running. I’m sure the start of gunfire will tell us when.”
“Look, if it’s making you so worried, we can stretch before. I’m sure everything will be fine. Plus, we all get alien Girlfriends, so it’s a win-win!” V put their hand on his arm. Wes smiled thankfully down at them.
“Yeah, that’s probably it. Yall must think I’m being a nitpick-”
“Not at all! You’re probably right, after all, it must be at least a mile to the base from here, and we can’t let cramps keep us from sweet sweet alien romance.” Val propped her leg up on the hood of her car and pressed her head to her knee, “Plus that’ll give us an advantage over the Kyles.”
V nodded and fell into a lunge, “We’ve been training since July for this, can’t let it get away now because we forgot to stretch.”
Wes bent over and touched his toes, “Thanks y’all, you’re really the best friends I could ask for.”
The screech of a megaphone rang out through the valley. A voice came through the static, “Raiders! Get into position, we’re storming the gates in exactly fifteen minutes!”
A cheer broke through the crowd as people began chugging what was left of their sodas and migrating towards the front lines.
“Well, this is it I guess. If I don’t make it out of the raid, put this on my tombstone.” Wes gestured downward, where he was holding his hand in a circle.
“Dammit!” Valerie chuckled as Wes gave her a playful punch in the arm.
“You’ll never take me alive!” V shouted and sprinted forwards as Wes moved towards them.
“On your marks!”
“Wanna bet on that?” Wes shouted back, weaving through the crowd to catch up with them.
“Get set!”
V pushed forward, using their small frame to their advantage, easily losing the taller one in the crowd.
“Raid!”
The mob roared, then began thundering forward, but the deafening sounds of the people were nothing compared to what followed. Thousands of guns began firing at once, hitting everyone and everything in the vicinity. Wes watched with horror as the first wave of people were mowed down right before his eyes. A flash of neon green caught his eye through the carnage. He ran towards his friend, who was standing, paralyzed, next to a few other survivors. He shouted their name, and just as they turned their head another hailstorm of bullets rained down. The first one embedded itself right into V’s chest, right above their heart. Wes sprinted to catch his injured companion, but by the time he got there the life was already draining from their eyes.
“V! V, can you hear me? Don’t go into the light, hold on, ok? You’ve got this, V, answer me!”
He pressed his head to their chest, a weak heartbeat answered him. “It’s gonna be okay. Shhh, you’re okay.”
Something wet dripped down his face, and he realized he was crying.
“...Wes,” V rasped out, then began violently coughing up blood. Little flecks of red peppered Wes’ face like freckles. “Fuck an alien for me, okay? Can you promise me that?”
Their body went limp in his arms.
“V? V! V, wake up, please, that can’t be it, please V, you’re only 17, please!” He shook their corpse, but to no avail. V was gone. He closed his eyes and let out a shuttering breath before standing up, still clutching their body in his arms.
“Second wave! On your marks!” The megaphone blared to life.
The crowd let out another, less confident cheer. After seeing all the carnage most of the raiders were less enthusiastic to ‘see them aliens’. But this time Wes had made up his mind. He was going to make it into that Government facility, and he was gonna burn that motherfucker to the ground.
“Get set!”
He laid his friend on the ground and pressed a kiss to their forehead. If it wasn’t for the massive amount of blood they could’ve been sleeping.
“Go!”
Wes screamed with all the anger he had in him and charged forward. Bullets rained down near him, but this time there were less of them. This time he had a chance. He saw the gate coming closer. He was only 50 feet away, he could make it! He hopped over the fence, ignoring the blaring of sirens, and kept running. He pushed his way into the building, where, surprisingly, there was no security. It looked like they had invested all their soldiers into protecting the outside of the base. His adrenaline rush began to slow down. He dragged his feet down the linoleum hallway, looking at his bloodsoaked hands.
“What the fuck just happened?” He whispered to himself, still shellshocked. A flicker of light caught his eye. Grateful for a distraction, he turned his attention to what looked like a futuristic control panel. The buttons were labeled in some sort of code, their luminescent surfaces grinning up at him.
“Looking for me, Short-Shorts?” A calm voice echoed through the hall. Wes whipped around, ready for a fight.
“Why so on edge, Ginger? Surely I’m not that intimidating.” It purred.
“Who are you?!” Wes shouted. He winced at the echo. Did he really sound that unhinged?
“On your left.”
He turned and found himself face to face with the most beautiful boy he’d ever seen. He looked about his age, maybe 17. His skin was tan, but had a slight blueish tint, as if he’d been without oxygen for a while. Poking from his tuft of pearly white hair was a pair of blur antenna. He had a small build, maybe 5 feet tall at best, but was floating at eye level with Wes. Speaking of his eyes, they were quite possibly the most gorgeous thing about him. He had eyes greener and glowyer (is that even a word? Either way it was true.) than toxic waste, his pupils were like a cat’s, slit down the middle. He was clothed in a baggy black prison jumpsuit. He looked almost alien. Wes realized with a start that he must be an alien.
“Are you done staring?” The boy asked, snapping Wes out of his trance. “It won’t be long before the guards realize you’re in here, and I’d rather get out without a bullet hole.”
“I- I don’t- what are you?” Wes stammered.
“I’m Project Phantom, or Danny if you prefer. What’s your name?”
“I’m… Wes?”

I’m getting pretty exhausted with people doing this “Can’t we all just get along?” schtick.
Later on, in the same comment thread, someone said, “We need to come together and put aside our differences!”
No. We really don’t.
That is not the appropriate strategy. Once people decide tearing families apart is okay... once people decide that skin color makes you an animal infestation... once people excuse sexual assault and pedophilia because someone is on “their side”... the time for civil debate is over.
We need to guilt and shame people for their intolerance. We need to show them this is not okay. We need to make them feel like pariahs in our society. And we need to show up and vote every last Trump supporting politician out of office.
Asking politely for people to stop being horrible did not seem to be effective. But shame could very well be working.
I do not advocate abusive harassment. No death threats, rape threats, or calls to violence. No doxxing of home addresses or stalking. No one should be scared for their lives.
However, if you do not want Sarah Huckabee Sanders in your restaurant because she makes your LGBTQ employees uncomfortable... politely asking her to leave seems reasonable to me. Personally, I thought the owner of the Red Hen handled that with an abundance of civility.
If you want to inform someone’s employer of abhorrent behavior, I feel like that is just a public service. Businesses have a right to know if their employees are fond of tiki torches and white supremacy.
And if people choose not to hold their tongue and abandon the use of flowery language to describe the dregs of our society, I’m not going to admonish them for it.
You cannot be divisive if everyone has already divided.
We did not cause this division. The right’s acceptance and apathy towards rampant intolerance did this.
These are not differences in opinion where a compromise can be reached. There are no intolerance-legitimizing “alternate viewpoints” worth considering. This is the gradual progression of fascism and it needs to be stopped.
Also, I’m getting a little tired of conservatives bemoaning liberals who no longer want to be their friends. They keep calling us immature and posting this slave owner’s perspective.
I’m afraid Thomas Jefferson quotes are not enough to change my mind about who I choose to associate with.
If you hate gay people or people of color or think everything Trump has done is just dandy... I am not going to playfully call you a scalawag for your fringe opinions and ask if we are still on for bowling this Friday.
Friendship over. End of story.
“Can you at least stop calling us mean names??!! You are just pushing everyone further apart!”
First... *cough* SNOWFLAKE *cough*
Second... if you advocate traumatizing children and sending babies to immigration court, you ARE deplorable. That’s not even an insult. It’s just accurate labeling. And I want to be as far apart from you as humanly possible.
The truth is, Trump and his supporters have taken such an amazingly low road at almost every opportunity, it’s actually impossible for progressives not to take a higher road. We could be at the bottom of the ocean and STILL be on the high road. Anyone with basic human decency is on the high road. And we are looking down at the low road, flipping all of them the bird.
Because... fuck ‘em.
This is my best friend’s neighbor.
This Trump supporting deplorable decided to harass and scare my friend’s neighbor over a dispute involving late-night fireworks. This little brat was blowing things up after midnight well past the 4th of July. When he was called out on the neighborhood texting app, he went into a homophobic rage.
And now he is doing this crap.
Thankfully he was not directly outside my friend’s house, but he was way too close for comfort. He knows who she is and where she lives. And when she told him to knock off the homophobic AIDs jokes, he did not take it well.
This scares the crap out of me.
Does he own a firearm? Does he have Army training as his shirt suggests? Is he unhinged?
This little display does not inspire me with confidence that he won’t escalate further.
How much civility should I show this fellow?
The cops came and did absolutely nothing. He’s just roaming around free near my favorite person in the world. Should I send him a fruit basket with a note that says, “Please stop being scary near my friend. Would you like to go bowling on Friday?”
If these alt-right douchebags want civility, I say to them... YOU FIRST.
In the meantime, I’ll be up here on the high road doing my thing...
Being “civil.”

The Road to Knowhere - Tim Leighton-Boyce and Paul Sanders on the History of the Knowhere Guide
It probably goes without saying that bike riding relies pretty heavily on ‘spots’. Whilst some strange folks are content with the reliable, safe-play environment of the local pre-fabricated skatepark, anyone with anything about them will soon hanker for new surfaces to touch tyres (and occasionally pegs) on.
But unlike more accepted (and slightly mumsier) pursuits such as hiking or whale-watching which are aided by exhaustive guide-books and extortionately-priced package tours, there’s little information out there to help you in your quest for banks, benches, banisters, hubbas and hitching posts.
Magazine captions give away slight clues, as do landmarks and road signs lurking helpfully in the corners of fisheye footage – but outside of that, you’re mostly just left to pedal aimlessly and hope for the best.
Having said that, there is one seldom-talked-about tool out there that’s helped countless riders, skaters and moody teenagers in the United Kingdom find somewhere to while away their time – the Knowhere Guide.
Launched back in the early, frontier days of the World Wide Web, this simple, text-based website allowed the general public to recommend (or slate) the spots in their local town. And beyond just telling riders and skaters where to find stair-sets and smooth floors, it extended into a guide for everything that’s often overlooked, from the best chip shops in town to the finest bus stops to sit and drink a bottle of White Lightning in.
The site still exists today, and whilst it’s maybe a bit dated in the current age of high-speed virtual reality streaming, it remains a pretty fascinating time capsule of the late 90s in Great Britain and a glimpse at the early promise of the internet.
Tim Leighton-Boyce and Paul Sanders were the masterminds behind the guide. Here’s what they had to say on the matter...
How did the Knowhere Guide start? Am I right in thinking it was originally just for skate spots?
Tim: Yes and no. Knowhere itself was never just about skate spots. But its origins date back to a paper-based directory of UK skate spots which first appeared in a newsletter published by a skateboard retailer, Alpine Sports at the start of the 80s. That listing was created at a time when all the skateboard magazines had collapsed. I ran the skate mail order department of Alpine Sports and was aware, from letters mostly, of all these skaters who had been cut off from any form of mass communication but wanted to know what was going on. And where to skate. So I started to expand the mail order price list into something a lot more.
The printed version of the listing had many different names. But the original data was carried forward and expanded as a continuous process. The Alpine newsletter evolved and expanded. It changed its name to Alpine Action. The company folded but before it collapsed they sold off the skate (and by now BMX side) to some of the people who ran it and the new shop adopted Alpine Action as a name. I did not join them. One of my great mistakes. But they were all friends and I was very close to them.
I ended up concentrating on photography with a side-line in digital stuff. I gradually got more involved in BMX Action Bike magazine. I think we may have started publishing a version of the guide in BMX Action Bike and then R.a.D. It may sound odd that I can’t remember clearly, but it was a long time ago. I would need to check the magazines for dates and for what it was called at that point. It’s had some very cheesy names in its time ‘Concrete Corner’ was one of them, I think. Or is that just a bad dream?
A critical point in the evolution of Knowhere was the brief flash and burn which was Phat magazine. R.a.D magazine was sold out from under the editorial team yet again, so we tried to launch our own magazine called Phat. The distributors were insistent that it must not be ‘just’ a skateboard magazine. We had to be very careful to avoid the skate content dominating, even though our motive was to produce a skate magazine. So as part of that, the ‘where to skate’ guide dutifully started to include other types of listing. If I remember correctly the name also changed in a relevant direction and it was now called “Where?”
Phat exploded after three issues in 1993 and I had nothing to do. Gavin Hills said he knew some people I would find very interesting. He took me along to Brick Lane where there was an empty old brewery. There were three businesses in it at the time, if I recall correctly. A car park, a music hall and, in one big office with big windows and a very big table, Oscar Music. The interesting people were Paul and Phillip who ran Oscar Music and certainly did interesting things. The interesting things were to do with music. And they were exploring digital things such as broadcasting MIDI files via TV on Tomorrow’s World (or something like that) and interactive disc-based media like CDi.
The timing of that meeting was perfect. The web had just been invented and the earliest graphical browsers such as Mosaic and Netscape were about to appear. The great thing people said about the web then was that suddenly “everyone had a printing press” - the distinction between publisher and consumer had been removed. And it was true.
Paul: I was doing some music projects at the time, but thinking that online technology would have a big impact on lots of things. When it became possible to make a website, we decided to try and were having ideas about who we wanted to be looking at it. The descriptions of the places in the guide had all been sent in by readers of the magazines, and Tim organised them into a database and edited them so they read well. We started off by doing an output of the database and using some code to chop it up into web pages. Then I thought we should let people contribute directly.
There were a few categories other than skate spots - newsagents where you could buy skate mags, cheap food, hook up spots (meeting your friends rather than dogging - that came later…), and I think the notorious best and worst were already there.
So the main influence was what Tim was already doing, but with some changes for the Internet age. We were looking at some online bulletin boards too, and the alt.* internet newsgroups which were pretty wild. And communities like the Well in California.
When did it first go online? What was the internet like back then?
Tim: I think it probably went on line in 1994, not 1993. The internet had been around before then, but this was the point when general use started to take off. The invention of the web and browsers with graphics and sound, combined with commercial organisations like AOL making access relatively open, triggered an explosion. It was very exciting. Very new. It felt like a whole world was opening up. Which it was. I’m so glad I got a chance to experience that.
Outside of the guides you’d already done in R.a.D and the like, was it influenced by anything else?
Tim: It seemed like a natural progression from those guides. In my case it was also an extension of the free classified adverts which we used to publish in R.a.D. I was very keen on those. They were like a public bulletin board for readers. Those messages were also a precursor of what was about to happen. I wanted to level the playing field so everyone could have their voice heard.
The guide didn’t just focus on big cities, and there’s pages on pretty much every town in the country. Was it important for these places that are often ignored to have a presence?
Tim: It was extremely important. That was more important to me than the big towns and cities because the big places are always well-served. R.a.D had always been about covering what was happening in as many places as possible. Everywhere was just as important.
Paul: When it started to take off it got us thinking about a whole lot of things. One of them was how sometimes a place might be called all sorts of things by local people, and might even be considered to be in a different place. My view was that people’s opinions were more true than the official data - which you couldn’t get anyway because the government controlled it and wouldn’t let us use it.
We let people suggest new places to add, and took the names and locations they gave us rather than checking on a map. So even the geography itself was user generated.
I also thought it was very important to be vague rather than trying to give every curb or wall a latitude and longitude. Local people knew where things were without looking at the OS map, and we didn’t want to make it too easy for the authorities to use Knowhere to organise patrols or for dodgy people to target young people.
There’s some pretty wild stuff on there, with a few people getting named and shamed. Did anyone ever have to step in and delete anything?
Paul: Yes. We’ve had big and small vendettas, and a few times the police have been involved either to keep the peace or because someone posted information about crimes. It’s very hard to get the balance right and we try very hard to go for free speech, so we’ve had a few moments. When we added message boards it got wild. But it also got really creative and we had some strong communities inhabit Knowhere for a while. There’s no need for that now with Facebook and Twitter.
Was it annoying that something that was set up as something helpful eventually become a forum for small-town beef… or did you anticipate that all along?
Tim: This is something that mostly happened after I was involved. I did not anticipate it because I had not really experienced it before. In retrospect my life during R.a.D magazine was like being in an echo chamber. The people working on the magazine and the people reading it shared a common interest and that was the focus of our dialogue. For example the free classified messages sometimes contained a slight element of local rivalry, but not much more.
Once the listing went on line and started opening up for other content things started to change. The thing which also started to happen when I was around was people trying to get in touch with old school friends. In retrospect we might have spotted the user need for something like Friends Reunited and then Facebook. But at the time I certainly didn’t.
Paul: It’s still much, much more than a forum for small town beef, but I didn’t find it annoying - and I still don’t. The language people use is amazing, so they are obviously putting some thought and effort into the helpful and informative stuff as well as the complaints and insults.
What happened as well is that the users got much more diverse, and we encouraged that by adding many more categories of information. When small towns still had record shops and music venues we had quite a big community of musicians and gig-goers.
Adding pubs also took the average age up a bit, and adding clubs brought in another group - the Saturday night lads and lasses, and some boy racers. We knew these moves would have their downsides but they also added a lot of depth that keeping it pure would have missed out on.
What’s the Knowhere Guide’s current status?
Paul: It’s still up - you can still add stuff, and people do every day. We’ve had a few ideas over the years for ways to change it, and we have something in the works now. There’s no way that Knowhere can compete with the combination of Facebook and Wikipedia though.
I think there is something relevant Knowhere can do today, especially as we can see the downside of social media.
The guide was based around sharing information – what are your thoughts on people keeping their cards close to their chest and being secretive about spots?
Tim: I accepted that as a reality of life. There were places which we never listed or kept the details very vague. I think Droitwich banks were an example. We didn’t want to be the instrument which wrecked a place.
I’m not really sure if there’s a question here, but the guide really captures a certain time in England - there’s a lot of flat-rails behind supermarkets, damp bus shelters and kebab shops.
Tim: I really liked that aspect of it. I wince that you use the word ‘England’ because R.a.D was very keen to cover more of the UK. One of my favourite entries was for Tayvallich and there was someone who used to get in touch from Stornonway. I liked hearing about the scenes in places like that, where the fewer people and less choice of where to skate. I also liked the edgelands of the cities, like you say they would be round the back of somewhere -- places other people ignored.
Do you think the entries would be much different today?
Paul: Yes - very different. For a start when we put Knowhere online nobody could just post stuff on the internet - we were one of the first wave. So the language people used was very different. Plus there was a general lack of information available about the sorts of places we had - a massive gap between the tourist guides and the Yellow Pages basically.
The local papers also felt they had the monopoly on local opinions and were often outraged by the fact that their own readers could express themselves on the Knowhere Guide. I think the views and the way they are expressed were more direct and less self-regarding too, but that might be me over-interpreting. It was really obvious however when we got a contribution where the writer was trying to write a proper review, and those were quite rare.
I think we captured in public some of the stuff that now goes on privately through phones, private groups, and social media. But the strong instinct to share is still very much there. I suppose it was a precursor to social media and the current age of everyone airing their opinions.
What are your thoughts on the internet today? Has it lived up to the expectations you had back in the early 90s?
Tim: Yes. And the most important aspect of that is outside the big ‘western’ countries. Phones have changed everything. The real liberation is what’s happened to people in very different worlds from mine. But you mention ‘social media’ and when I think back to the early days of that, when they called it ‘Web 2.0’, I remember thinking at the time that this was not new. It was just like the early days of the web when everyone tended to assume that they could put content out there and that they could email companies and bands (we were working for record labels) and get a reply.
That was suppressed for a bit when commercial organisations upped their game and produced slicker content and tried to restore the ‘few to many’ publishing model.
Social media was the same user need (I want to say something and I will) bubbling back up again. It turns out that things were not quite that simple. Big business pushes back. The big platforms are now being viewed with suspicion and hostility. It’s like the tide flowing in and out. The tide is immensely powerful and the shape of the coast changes.
Paul: I knew in 1992 that the internet was a revolution, and that’s what drove me to develop my business (mostly music now, but broader back then) at a time when there was not much money in digital media.
It’s interesting that the fundamental technology is still very similar to what it was in say 1996 – it’s just faster and more ubiquitous. Maybe we’re due another revolution. I don’t know what my expectations were other than that we would be connecting one to one and many to many around our shared interests, and that seemed to me a creative opportunity as much as anything.
I did expect that the trivial would be right there alongside the bigger and more important stuff, and that was one of the things I really still love about Knowhere.
Definitely. There’s a lot of ‘everyday’ things on there that most people overlook. As someone involved with the internet fairly early, how do you see the web going in the next few years? Should people be worried?
Tim: I think the thing called the ‘web’ and concepts like ‘web sites’ have become less and less important. I spent the first years of my digital work trying to explain to people what web sites were, and for the last few years I’ve been trying to explain that they’re not a useful concept any more. The internet is being used to communicate and share knowledge in so many different ways, and I believe that expansion will continue. As with medicine and electricity, I think the ever-wider use of the internet is transformative and mostly in an extremely positive way.
There have been several different waves of attempts to make use of the internet conform to earlier non-digital models and then to earlier versions of itself (assuming an ‘it’ as viewed from various perspectives). What actually happens is always slightly new and different. People want to communicate. Some of what they want to communicate has always been very divisive and repugnant to different people, but broadly speaking I think that will sort itself out over the generations as it always has.
Paul: I’ve got a deep optimism that, given the right information and the ability to choose, people will generally do enough of the right thing. What is hurting now is that the owners of the platforms are hiding so much, and controlling the choices we have so that our friendships and family connections are hostage to their greed and irresponsible spying on us.
You could look at the last ten years as one huge experiment on humanity, and what’s good is that the subjects of the experiment are learning from the results. I’ve written about this in the context of music and I think the same forces and principles apply everywhere.
So yes, we should be worried enough to look for the right thing and do it when we can, but I’m not predicting dystopia or internet-induced fascism. We need to find a better way to contextualise what we see and experience online, so we don’t give the harmful things the momentum they’d otherwise lack.
But the original skaters who were part of Knowhere in the early 90s, and I’m sure your readers now, don’t think of themselves as helpless victims of online sociopaths, and will call out bad behaviour when they see it, and that is all that it takes to get us through this phase. One thing I am very sure about is that we’re not going to deal with our problems by becoming less connected to each other.

The Trump Administration Changed Its Minds On 3D-Printed Guns And A Federal Judge Wants To Know Why
A federal judge wants to know why the Trump administration allowed them to go up in the first place before apparently reversing course.

Cody Wilson, owner of Defense Distributed, holds a 3D-printed gun called the “Liberator.”
A federal judge on Monday ruled that blueprints for 3D-printed guns must stay off the internet for now after 19 state attorneys general argued that making them public would pose an unreasonable risk to public safety and violate federal arms laws.
US District Court Judge Robert Lasnik in Seattle also wants the Trump administration to explain why they allowed the plans to be posted in the first place.
Lasnik’s preliminary injunction extends an order issued in July and requires Texas-based Defense Distributed to keep plans for about a dozen guns, including a metal AR-15 and its innovative plastic pistol, off its website Defcad.com. It’s the latest twist in a yearslong saga around 3D-printed guns, which Defense Distributed founder Cody Wilson believes are constitutionally protected and will herald a new era for gun owners. Meanwhile, law enforcement leaders and gun control advocates fear undetectable, untraceable guns will create new threats in schools, airports, and city streets — particularly as the technology improves.
“Do we really want terrorists to 3D-print plastic guns and bring them through airports to American soil?” Avery Gardiner, copresident of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, told BuzzFeed News. “Do we really want Mexican drug cartels to 3D-print AR-15s out of metal and use them in their criminal activities?”
It’s an issue that the Trump administration initially said posed serious risks to national security and world peace, until it suddenly reversed itself and agreed that Defense Distributed could post its blueprints online. The state attorneys general then sued both the administration and Defense Distributed, accusing the government of arbitrarily changing its mind.
On Monday, Lasnik agreed that more explanation was necessary.
“No findings of fact or other statements are provided in the agreement that could explain the federal government’s dramatic change of position or that address, much less invalidate, its prior analysis regarding the likely impacts of publication on the United States’ national security interests,” he wrote in an order granting the preliminary injunction.
On April 6, the State Department — which regulates how firearms and other weapons may be exported — said the files would “undeniably” make it easier for people around the world to make their own guns. A court agreed the release of any plans should be put on hold while national security implications were considered.
Three weeks later, the Trump administration signed off on allowing the website to take its blueprints live. The federal government’s concerns about terrorism and crime were replaced with staunch words on freedom of speech and the right to bear arms. Besides, officials argued, gun export restrictions had been on their way to being eased for years.
The Department of Justice had independently advised the State Department to settle its lawsuit with Defense Distributed because of free speech issues, officials said.
But President Trump tweeted that he was looking into the issue because it “doesn’t seem to make much sense!” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders also later said the president wasn’t consulted in the decision.
It was a reversal that took gun control advocates and state leaders by surprise. As they scrambled to get the plans taken down, they wondered: Was this a backroom deal? Who’d worked their influence on the administration? What facts had been considered? Why hadn’t Congress been notified, a typical requirement for adjusting weapons export laws?
On Monday, the judge was skeptical that the State Department had considered the unique issues raised by 3D-printed guns.
“Even if the Court accepts that the undisclosed administrative record will support [the State Department’s] argument, there is no indication that the Department considered the unique properties of 3D plastic guns or evaluated the factors Congress deemed relevant when the Department decided to authorize the posting of the CAD files on the internet as of July 27, 2018,” the judge wrote.
In court documents, attorneys for Defense Distributed downplayed such threats as “hypothetical generalized grievances.” Federal law already requires plastic guns to contain enough metal in their design that they can be found with a metal detector, and criminals are much more likely to turn to the black market to acquire a gun.
Wilson and Defense Distributed feel they’re being unfairly censored, and the company launched a campaign seeking donations for the continuing legal fight.
Attorneys for Defense Distributed noted that though the company took down the files in response to a court order, they’re still easy to find on other sites. A search of major torrent sites immediately turns up the files.
“Anyone with internet access already has access to the speech at issue,” they argued. “Silencing Defense Distributed does no good.”
To Gardiner and other gun control advocates, that attitude doesn’t square with national security concerns initially raised by the government. Gardiner said she believed the State Department could have won its initial case, but either way, she doesn’t understand why the government settled.
“It’s your job to fight if you think it’s going to make America less safe,” she said. “That is a fundamental job of the administration, to protect the American people from threats foreign and domestic. They take an oath about that for crying out loud.”
The case did raise free speech issues, and when it comes to 3D-printing technology, there are questions that have yet to be answered, said Eugene Volokh, a law professor at UCLA who specializes in the First Amendment.
“The question is whether the government can restrict something that might otherwise be seen as speech, when it restricts it because of what it does and not what it says,” he said.

The information in the blueprints — the code and designs themselves — falls squarely under free speech protections, as do books on gunsmithing, Volokh said. So the question becomes not just whether instructions for a 3D printer are just speech, but whether a computer-aided design, or CAD file, is essentially an action, which could be limited under the Constitution.
“There’s deep disagreement among judges and commentators on this very issue, which I think reflects how unsettled it is,” Volokh said.
Those questions will need to be answered as the technology continues to advance. High-end printers are already creating specialized parts for the aerospace and biomedical industries. Others are in university labs, and cheap versions are becoming common in grade-school classrooms.
John Dogru, CEO of 3DPrinterOS, believes 3D printing is on the brink of becoming more democratized, like computers were decades ago. He’s hoping to help make that future a reality with his standardized operating system, the only of its kind in a world where most printers run off manufacturers’ software.
His operating system has been used to create 380,000 parts worldwide, using networks of printers — under the watchful eye of a network administrator.
“Most of these printers are in classrooms, on campuses, in [private] enterprises,” he said. “So you want to know who’s printing what, where, when.”
That detective functionality can safeguard against most real-world problems, he said. It won’t stop a criminal intent on hurting someone, he said, but in his mind, little will.
But there are safety risks, and software and policies need to be in place to monitor how 3D printers are used, he added. During its research and development phase in Estonia, Dogru said they turned over the software to children to see how they’d use it. Two out of four boys in the group tried to print toy guns.
Dogru can easily imagine a student taking a design to school and printing a gun. It wouldn’t have the accuracy of a typical gun. In fact, it might shatter as soon as it’s fired — which could injure or kill the shooter or a bystander, he said.
“The reality is this risk will be coming up, and the best thing to have is a way to monitor what is happening with the users, ban users, limit users,” he said. “An [administrator] can ensure something like this doesn’t happen with their printers.”
