The town of Plaht City is peaceful.

Sure, it can be a little weird sometimes- but most of it Hunk doesn't even notice. The only reason he knows about half of the weird sightings and odd things going on out in the desert is because his friends and devoted loyal customers, Pidge and Matt are always eager to talk about the subject.

Hunk's not really interested. He's just content to run his bakery, the Lion's Den. It's a two man operation at the moment- it's just him and his part timer, a slightly odd college student named Romelle. He makes it work, but it's clear that he could probably use some extra help. Unfortunately for him, he's also kind of picky when it comes to his employees. It took him like, two months after he'd first opened to even hire Romelle.

At least he's built up a loyal customer base! It doesn't hurt that Plaht City's oddball mayor, Coran Smythe is apparently a huge fan of his danishes, a fact which he tells everyone at every chance he gets. His niece Allura and her nephew Lotor come in basically every day, the former stopping by after picking up the latter from school. There's Pidge and Matt, of course, but he already mentioned them. And Lance is always hanging around, but that's a given because he's pretty sure his best friend is addicted to the ungodly sweet coffee concoction that is on the menu entirely because of him.

So things are going pretty great, all told!

Still, when a customer shows up five minutes before closing, part of Hunk can't help but heave an irritated sigh. He doesn't mind, necessarily- but there's no way to tell if this last minute customer is the type who'll linger or not. At least he's kind of cute, in a vaguely mysterious way. It's the combination of his dark hair and pale skin, plus the leather jacket and biker gloves that does it.

His eyes are like nothing he's seen before. He didn't even know people could have purple eyes.

He takes a moment to consider the menu- his eyes lingering extra long on the prices. He finally settles on a black coffee and one of the day old cookies that Hunk sells for half price. He pulls out a crumpled five dollar bill, and it suddenly sort of hits him that this might be all the money this guy even has.

He asks if there's a good place to camp out around here. Hunk points him in the direction of the campground his uncle runs. Turns out he's new in town. He says his name is Keith, asks if there's any place around here that's looking for temp workers that doesn't mind if they don't have a full high school education.

He's not sure what prompts him to do so, but Hunk asks him if he'd like to work here. Keith blinks, stares at him for a long few seconds- and then slowly shrugs. Sure, but he doesn't know much about baked goods.

The Lion's Den has a new employee the following morning.

A middle aged Tintin and Chang have a pretty severe midlife crisis and decide the best thing to do to clear up the narrative is to travel to Nevada and break into Area 51. 

Will they uncover aliens, or some sinister cold war secrets? Haunted by the previous world war and a greater understanding of their responsibilities as journalists, Tintin and Chang struggle to decide what to do with their discoveries.

Au Headcanons Below

Bive's role in the no regrets au is that of an investigator around Two-Stud Town, Aliens and Sightings of the Supernatural tend to be what intrigues her the most. She's one of two npcs in Two Stud Town able to travel servers. She serves a much bigger role one in flattywood, mysteries are her thing after all.

Bive's outfit is inspired by the bivekit skin in phighting.

Bive's arms and legs are inspired off of a black fly's. She used to have wings, but a freak incident working at a particular pizza place left her wingless.

Bive's originated from Area 51, after her escape she has become awefully fearful of the gubmint.

Since Gnarpy's crash, the two have been forced to get along. Bive and the alien now camping wherever the public eye can't see. Even if that tends to be in different servers.

Bive smells like burnt hair, BO, and very slight scent of bananas.

Bive's "theme" is Circus from deltarune (Also Touchtone telephone!)

Bive's favorite place to be is splitsville. There's a particular yellow comedian there that she loves to listen to over the radio. She was near estatic meeting her.

I see Bive's voice claim as being meowth from the pokemon anime.

Bive has met Dr.RETRO before, years back. Due to some unresolved history Bive has a general disliking towards Dr.RETRO.

Isabeau, freshly recovered from burnout after rushing through graduate school, stumbles across an ad for a lab position at the research institute where his idol, Dr. Odile Yamamoto, conducts her work. Willing to risk another bout of burnout to potentially work with the Dr. Yamamoto, he applies for the position and gets the job. However, in the process of applying, it quickly becomes clear that something sinister is happening at this institute. He decides to go forward and accept the offer—only to find himself in way over his head in a conspiracy far bigger than himself. (Or: Modern AU/Sci-fi. Isabeau goes back into the world of science after swearing it off only to end up in the Vaugarde equivalent of Area 51 and finds Siffrin, a shapeshifter of unknown origins, trapped deep underground in a padded cell. Unfortunately, he falls in love. Is their romance doomed? Could Siffrin ever escape? What is Siffrin, anyway? And, importantly—how does Odile factor into all of this?)

in your tnmn au, which us state it takes place at? like i mean as in the setting of the location of the apartment

I assume that the apartment and the whole game is somewhere in the Western US, but in my AU, it would be somewhere in California.

I made a list of reasons for why I chose that (and also plausible reasons on why I think the actual game could be set in the Western US, so prepare for me to go all world building mode):

1.) The Western US is FedLandia

For those who aren't that familiar, federal land is basically land that is governed by the federal US government and not by the individual state and there's a high concentration of federal land located in Western states. One of the primary owners of federal land is the Department of Defense (the military sector of the government).

Based on the research I did, basically the government can do any operation they want on federal land. The military, for example, uses some of the federal land as weapon testing ranges (there's that joke that some people back in the 1950s have nuclear bombs casually going off in their backyard). So following the lore, the Trojan Horse Project could be considered an operation under the military since it's the one funding it and I also assume that the doppels were actually developed to be weapons for espionage.

So in a way, I believe that those involved in the THP do creating and testing operations of doppels on the wide ranges of military-owned federal property and since it's on federal property, most of the operations that goes on it is mostly kept hush-hush from the general public, cuz y'know, it's secret federal government business (like Area 51 type stuff)

You could argue that it could be possible that the game could take place in the Eastern US too, since there is federal land owned by the military located there, but the problem is the secrecy of the THP operations. As seen on the map above, there's only very little federal land on the East coast and the rest is state-owned land where the general public is located (and the population is quite packed in the Eastern states). If they wanted to keep the THP and its operations as top secret as possible, I feel like it would be more logical if their central base of operations would be somewhere where there's not much people living nearby and can't just have random access to (i.e. the Western states with loads of federal land and a generally less dense population)

2.) The DDD is managing and monitoring apartments

So, my assumption is that the DDD is some kind of special ops group created in the military, since they are directly involved in the THP. So, the personnel of the DDD are selected military personnel and their bases are just adjacent to regular military bases near the central base of operations of the THP

I also think that the apartments where doormen are stationed and modified with special anti-doppel security features are also government property, managed and monitored by the DDD ( and by extension, the military). And to ensure an adequate amount of DDD personnel get to places where doppels are located in in time, it would be more convenient if the apartments were built on or near federal land, where military bases are stationed.

And for my AU, I chose specifically California since it is said that the apartment is located downtown (so yeah probably in a city there)

3.) The occupations of some of the neighbors

Dr. W: Since she is lead researcher of the THP, she should naturally live nearby the central base of operations is located, which is somewhere in another state adjacent and east of California

Stephanie : Prior to moving to the apartment, she was already stationed in a military base in California, so it's just convenient for her and her mom to move to the apartment in downtown Cali.

The twins (this is only applicable in my AU): They work in Hollywood so again for convenience sake, they thought it would be best to live in downtown Cali.

Since the above mentioned neighbors have to come home everyday, their workplace needs to be nearby (you can't convince me that they'd be willing to travel interstate everyday just to come home)

4.) Aliens

The whole alien storyline we have with Chester in campaign mode is quite timing because that was the era where UFO conspiracy theories and sightings were all the rage or at least where the most prominent alien related incidents occured . Most of the prominent UFO/alien related topics and incidents seem to happen in the Western US (e.g. The Roswell incident in New Mexico and Area 51 in Nevada)
