Random observations on this season (updating)

(SPOILERS, OBVIOUSLY)

Episode 1

I don't think we've ever seen Assane do a genuine fourth-wall break before

OK so Claire has a last name now

Assane really expected that he could just show up and Claire would just fall at his feet

I'm surprised Benjamin is just allowed to continue working at his shop

This feels better-edited than Parts 1 & 2

Name a more iconic duo than Belkacem and failing constantly (she really doesn't listen, does she)

Episode 2

NEVER invite Guédira to a funeral lmaooo

Hang on I'm just now realizing that Juliette is at this funeral, too (she's standing in the second row behind Benjamin and Claire and honestly doesn't seem too upset about Assane's "death")

I like how in the flashback Babakar tells Assane that he reminds him of his mother and then it turns out she was a criminal

This seems to be around the time of Raoul's birthday again; he really can't catch a break on that

Episode 3

New shipping war just dropped: Guédira/Belkacem vs Guédira/Fleur

That bit where Claire was outright begging Benjamin to tell her Assane was alive and he couldn't...that was sad

But then it was followed by Benjamin doing the "uhh my FRIEND just died" act with Belkacem which was funny

This gang of thugs is trying a little too hard tbh

Assane's disguise in this episode is fucking terrible lol

The basketball coach disguise, on the other hand, is the only time I've genuinely thought he wasn't recognizable

Episode 4

Ironically that coach persona is probably the best parenting Assane has ever done

Claire? Doing things that are vaguely cool?? That feels illegal. Also, she looked so proud of herself for swiping that book, lol

Betraying Benjamin was certainly...a choice on Assane's part ("everyone disliked that")

This episode is going to devastate the show's Tumblr fandom

Episode 5

Assane trolling the shit out of Guédira will never not be funny

These 1998 flashbacks are pretty dark actually

Honestly the way Claire got that reveal out of Benjamin was very well-played on her part

Guédira out here looking like present-day Ringo Starr with that disguise

Aww look at Assane playing the matchmaker for Guédira and Belkacem, heh heh

This is easily one of the funniest episodes

Except Benjamin is straight up not having a good time -- it looks like he got beaten up in prison

Episode 6

Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not totally sure Benjamin knows that Assane betrayed him. It's possible he just thinks that he fucked up with the bracelet and then missed a cue in the maze

"Pasta with ketchup" jesus fucking christ Claire that sounds horrendous (although I'm guessing the only reason they did that was because of the ketchup-bottle reveal)

Assane really has Claire's number because he's now seduced her twice under two different identities

IDK whether or not Raoul has figured out that the coach is his dad but it's funny that he still seemed to be shipping it either way

It's nice that we get to see Claire's more playful side in this season, like her messing with Assane by acting really flirty with "Alex" after she realizes they're the same person

INCREDIBLE casting for the younger and older versions of Keller tbh; they easily look like they could be the same person

Episode 7

What a nice family reunion...it would be a shame if something happened to it...

The flashbacks are significantly darker than the present timeline this time around

Guédira finally got to arrest Assane, good for him!

The scene at the train station with the letter from Assane to Claire sort of reminds me of the ending to A Tale of Two Cities, which I had to read for AP prep a while back

Oh look, Hubert Pellegrini is back

So they're CLEARLY setting up another season with this ending

The choice of people to show on the montage there was interesting, lol

I could see a Juliette antagonist arc happening tbh

Maybe Assane's mom isn't all she seems either

And what about Benjamin? If he turns against Assane the viewers are going to lose their minds

troll lore (long)

cw: human and troll experimentation (spoiler alert lol)

spoilers for uhh up to flashback i believe

To start, some headcanons about the trolls themselves:

First of all, they're not vegetarian. The elves tried to get them to be for the longest time until they kinda just gave up.

Marintrylla is a very humid/wet place that is mostly shielded from the sun. Trolls need lots of water so most of them carry a large water bottle of sorts with them, especially when outside their territories, where they also wear special clothes to prevent too much sun from drying them out. They're also cold-blooded, and therefore can't be anywhere too cold.

Their government is a matriarchy, as the females are usually bigger and stronger than the males, and most trolls believe them to be smarter as well.

Now for a made-up, potentially canon-contradicting (I did not fact check any of this) history lesson!

For over a thousand years, the trollish population was not doing so well, mainly due to the nature of how babies are born - they have to be kept in the perfect conditions, and when they "hatch" they are bloodthirsty and violent, attacking everything that could be food, since they need a lot of nutrients. Not sure how the whole thing actually works but that's the general gist.

The ogres noticed this, and after taking over Serenevale, they thought they could take over another species as well. Many attacks were made and battles fought, until Marintrylla was the only territory they had left.

Despite their low numbers, the trollish empress of the time (Who I named Lerenia which is just. idk random letter combo i thought sounded good) refused to accept help from any of the other species (elves and dwarves offered to help save their young, while goblins offered to help fend against the ogres, who were also at war with the goblins at the time). Empress Lerenia believed everything had to happen naturally, and that nature would find a way. The council, however, were not so sure.

A point came when the trollish population count dipped under 100. When the council realized just how low the numbers were, they voted to take drastic measures, and set up something they dubbed the "troll sanctuary" which was a top secret project that probably had code names because that one is not all that subtle. It's not as nice as they probably teach in schools, if they teach about this at all (most of it was erased from memories, and you'll see why).

Basically, they took a few trolls and kept them in a secure place (maybe Lumenaria?) for observation and testing, with the aim of finding a way to help the trolls survive better. However, the conditions they were kept in made them more like prisoners, and elves didn't know enough about trollish biology to be able to give them what they needed - many died due to dehydration and/or malnutrition, while others died as a result of the testing. Vespera was very involved in this project (it was only a little bit before her whole human experimentation thing), and conducted many of the experiments, along with Luzia Vacker. almost everyone involved had it wiped from their memory after one elf's mind broke after working there too long. They then left the trolls there for a while, before Luzia came and took over, bringing the few remaining trolls to her private property, away from the eyes of the council. She and Vespera continued their experiments at Everglen, less out of concern for their population and more out of curiosity.

A few humans discovered the secret of the Lumenaria troll sanctuary, however, along with Vespera's human experiments. The human leader, whoever that was, informed Empress Lerenia, who was understandably outraged that the council had kidnapped her citizens and had performed inhumane tests on them in the name of "helping." She was fully prepared to storm Eternalia and start a war. But she did realize it was a bad idea, considering the lack of an army the trolls had. The human leader assured her that they would fight on her behalf, and the empress had safe houses built underground, should the humans need any emergency shelter or protection. These shelters have since been repurposed.

I think trolls and humans both stood out as species, for many reasons, but one thing they both have in common is aging - the other species stay the same for hundreds and hundreds of years, and while human lifespans were much shorter than the rest (though they were longer at the time than they are now, about 200-500 years), trolls also age and get weaker as they grow older.

While all this was happening, Pernille was born! a miraculous baby in a dark time. A little headcanon i thought of is that her name is trollish for "justice", something Lerenia wanted to bring.

The humans were quickly defeated (they tried to get the ogres on their side and failed) but many from all the different species knew at least bits and pieces about some of the things happening. the elvin council placed the blame on Vespera Folend, who managed to go into hiding for at least another decade, and continued to capture humans when she could. There was probably at least one human horror legend inspired by her.

Things settled down after Vespera's imprisonment. treaties were discussed in the very building she was being held prisoner, the very building the horrible experiments had happened in.

This is when neutral territories were established. the elves wanted to give some of the trollish territory that was taken by the ogres to the humans, as well as a lot of the territories that were deemed "unneeded" for the species that were less in numbers. Naturally, the rest of the intelligent species did not like that, and it ended in the agreement of keeping them neutral, although protected against humans (using illusions designed by Vespera herself).

Not long after this, Lerenia tried to have another child, but this resulted in both the child and Lerenia's death, meaning Pernille was forced to take on the role as empress despite being only in her 20s, which could be compared to a young teenager. Her main advisor was her father, and the two have a very strong bond to this day.

Due to the nature of her mother's death, Pernille found new determination to make a change. She knew things couldn't go on like this if she wanted her species to thrive. She was hesitant to trust the council after all she'd learned from her mother, but she formed a team of carefully selected trolls, dwarves, gnomes, goblins, elves, and even a few ogres, who contributed to the project arguably the most thanks to their knowledge on microbiology, which helped a lot. Many decades of work led to the creation of the hive system, which is still used today. this project is still considered to be a great example of incredible things that can be achieved when all species collaborate towards a single goal. It also settled many doubts about the capabilities of the young trollish empress, as trolls had earned a reputation of being nothing but bloodthirsty monsters. However, Pernille showed that she was determined, hardworking, caring, and truly wanted what was best not only for her people, but the world.

honestly everybody is kind of surprised with this relationship/matespritship

if this is what trolls mean by flushed feelings, then it’s not as perverted as he thought. maybe it’s closer to the human definition of love that isn’t as disgusting as trolls relationship norms

Calliope tries to warn you about her brother but it sort of falls on deaf ears

whether you believe he’ll protect you throughout the games or not. it doesn’t feel like you have a choice in the relationship

yes Caliborn is impatient and condescending at times. but he’s consistent and he worships you in a way that’s confusing

He’ll yap about how disgusting love is and how it’s perverse but you? oh how you make love seem innocent and pure

you’re not rlly sure what you do either for him to perceive you that way

but seeing he looks up to Dirk. you already know/assume his morals are skewed

you do eventually settle or fall in this relationship

yes he’s loud and obnoxious

but he’s your loud and obnoxious cherub that you cherish

gift giving is his weakest suit. quality time is number one.

what’s the greatest gift in the world? his existence ofc

sometimes you’re disappointed in his choices and he takes that personal and gets hot n cold towards you

it ends up under the rug.

a relationship with caliborn somehows becomes codependent and only more so after he murders his sister. whether you know that or not

despite his “insufferable personality” Caliborn makes his games nice and easy for you

he lets you win a lot only because he likes you and maybe also bc he kinda sucks lowkey

that’s one of the things you enjoy in this relationship, are the games

if you think of something in that brilliant mind of yours, he’ll incorporate it into a game of some sort

it’s nice bc it reminds you he does pay attention to you, just in his own ways

he draws you a lot. tell him it’s good

your little place with him is full of good horrendous art of you

Question, can I get headcannon of mallek x reader where the reader is an artist? somehow was able to accept commissions while on Alternia? I feel like the vibe of them just silently drawing and him coding in the background is super cute. What do you think?

AUGRHGAA TYYY!!!! I'm glad you like the art, writing, and headcanons! I've also definitely had the thoughts of Mallek being with an s/o who works a lot on computers for digital art stuff, mainly cause it sounds peaceful af.

Okay, so! Artist is a pretty loose term that could apply to a lot of things, but you specify them drawing here, so I'll go over Mallek x reader, both of them being either a traditional artist or a digital artist.

Traditional Artist:

🎨Starting with the traditional artist! Dunno if any of you consider yourselves to be fairly clean but either way if you were to stay over at his hive a lot and for convenience's sake, leave some of your art stuff at his place..it only adds to the chaos that his hive, "damn girl you live like this?" Idk! I just imagine all sorts of physical stuff traditional artist's use. Different types of paint and paintbrushes, charcoal, watercolors, colored pencils, paper, canvases, etc. Your art stuff adds a whole other thing to look at in his hive and honestly? He's here for it. He thinks art is cool. I mean..he can do tattoos, so of course he'd have some appreciation for a s/o who does artsy stuff. He also like those moments where he finds you just covered in your art supplies. Charcoal all over your arms and even smudged on your face for when you couldn't fight a itch and scratched at it, your hands and fingers smudged with paint or oil pastels...he just finds it incredibly charming.

🎨Oh also on the subject of paint uhh. May or may not be something you're comfortable with using considering that paint on Alternia is made from the blood of trolls. Depends whether or not you can get over that and just pretend it isn't to cope lmao. If you can just. Don't ask Amisia and Chahut about how getting the supplies for your paint went!

🎨Mallek would find it incredibly relaxing to listen to while he's fucking around with his husktops and many monitors. Normally he's one to either sit in quiet with nothing to play or maybe he'll have his playlist quietly playing whatever music or other things to listen to while he works on projects or contact people. Not to say it isn't still quiet while you both do your own things, but that's just the thing. It's quiet, not silent. Mallek finds he works the best when he knows that there's life going on around him. The sounds of his hands rapidly typing on his keyboard, the whirring of his husktop, sometimes you can hear him speak to someone that he's calling. You just further add on with your sounds of living, the sound of pencil sketching onto paper or canvas, the louder or softer sounds of you using oil pastels or charcoal, papers being moved, the adjusting of a canvas. It's all very comfortable to you both.

🎨You're each other's background sounds.

Digital Artist:

🖋️Being a digital artist is also so cool to Mallek, why wouldn't it be? It's tech shit! He can also help you try and traverse the different Alternian art programs. It's pretty new to him too since all he usually uses is the Alternian equivalent to Microsoft paint..and it's not super serious, just doodles, sketches, and shitposts stuff to destress. You got yourself a husktop, Amisia was jumping at the chance to help you look for digital art supplies (such as a tablet and stuff), and Mallek helped you get a hold of art programs for you to try out and decide what you like to use as your primary programs.

🖋️They're pretty much the same as Earth art programs in terms of it's functions. Though of course their interfaces can be different from program to program. Not everything works as it does on Earth? Certain shortcuts or tool locations are moved around or changed but it's pretty easy to figure out if you're experienced in digital art. And if you're stuck or can't figure something out your cool tech savvy matesprit can help you out. Mallek has his moments where he takes a break from what he's working on briefly to watch you draw...he always has to stifle a laugh when he sees you're absolutely struggling over there to do line art, having to undo do your stroke like 50 times before you get it. Like the previous one? He thinks it's cute and charming.

🖋️While you don't add a lot of new things to look at it in his hive, as you're working with more tech, it's still just as nice to listen to in the background he thinks. He can hear your fingers type out messages to friends or clients you're working with, the sound of your pen stroking against the tablet face, your mouse clicking here and then. There may not be as many sounds, but he finds it just as comforting, he likes to listen to the life around him after all.

Commissions:

As for the commission portion, thought it would be fun to get into this separately after talking about the respective art types! Being commissioned as an alien on the planet is certainly. Interesting. Which can be taken positively or otherwise.

Being an alien is your selling point to a lot of trolls online. It's where you got a huge chunk of your followers! Sure, they're very split on genuinely believing you are a real alien and those who think this is some kind of roleplay account or something but follow out of interest. Your commissions gather more interest from those who want a drawing from an alien! Real or not. Lots of odd are fun interactions.

For a traditional artist you could go the route of just, scanning your picture and posting it onto your socials and tag the trolls (or post it to the troll client privately). If you offer a shipement of the physical original drawing Mallek can help you out with getting a drone to drop it off for you so you don't have to go on a wild goose chase to find the troll client in this great wide troll world.

morris would love all those modern 'keep track of your Work!' kanban (?) type apps. trello and evernote and uhh idk any others im unemployed. theres probably one developed by microsoft or something

anyway those could be useful (ze's mayyybe a little bit scatterbrained) but in a neon future ze would be absolutely Obsessed with messing them up with whatever infernal and/or parabolan secrets can be shoved into a computer. it'd be hir main hobby. hir spreadsheets could span the entire neath and absolutely no parts of them function 💚 dont even get me started on what ze'd do to an actual programming language

on the other hand WHAT ZE WOULD HATE. not certain yet but i think ze would Strongly Dislike social media, particularly forum-type stuff. not because of some kind of moral opposition or anything, but because coming into contact with an internet troll would kill hir immediately. or any kind of internet conflict honestly. ze knows what flamebait is and gets caught by it every time....

Lmaooo me and my friends were playing this whos lying game on Roblox and I thought of my ocs playing that game.

My ocs playing who’s lying (Roblox version)

(Cast: Levi,Mathew,Ziya,Clara, aamina, and uhh Leon idk)

Rules: everyone is given a word from a category except the imposter. The imposter is supposed to pretend like they know the word while the people who know the word (investigators) have to describe it without giving up the word.

They definitely would have to restart once because Aamina said ,”wait what’s the word(ﾉ´∀｀*)?” (She was the imposter 😓)

Levi would definitely be a good investigator and imposter. I honestly don’t think he’ll talk as much but he’ll ask questions. He would also troll Mathew by accusing him of being suspicious 😭.

Ziya is also a pretty good investigator and imposter. He’d be watching everyone and laughing along with others jokes. He’d only accuse someone unless he knows for sure it’s them.

Leon is wrong lol. Hed be the type to write type something so off topic. Him and aamina would get caught as imposters in a couple of rounds.

Mathew is just nervous lol. His nervousness has gotten him falsely accused a couple of times. ( let’s all thank Levi for this 😌) but he’s an okay investigator .

Some one help aamina. She too slow for this 😭 🙏. Um well shes an okay investigator but imposter no. She’s horrible at being under cover.

Overall tho they’d all have so much fun lol. And maybe to end the night they’d probably play adopt me lol ( Levi is just stealing pets)

Superman's kids ranked

Hmm guess the bottom is where I start here (please note I have not been able to read the dailies)

Wait. Actually there's a few unranked kids, so first a pre-ranking ranking:

Unranked (+ "Superman's" kids)

Superman-Red's Twins and Superman-Blue's Twins: they just kind of exist. They don't have any characterization at all since they don't even talk

Carl (Mr. Mxyptlk): He does a little trolling. I feel a bit bad for Larissa Lenox though

twins in Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #55: no. I don't want to think about this story.

Mooki: this isn't superman. He's neat. Robot Merkid

Lyle and Lili: that's not Lois and that's not Kal-El, it's actually his cousin and a lookalike

Superman Jr (Robin (Fred Ashley (Dick Grayson))): i uh wha. Hmm I think I'll rate him exclusively from the story. Anyways it's basically Lois pranking Superman back via blackmailing Robin (she was pretty sure Robin was one of 6 people). Uh Funny and weird I guess but that's what happens when you prank each other via pretend space travel.

Clark Jr. & Lori (Man of Tomorrow #15): they're literally demons. Anyways they're kinda bland because it's "picturesque traditional American values" that are directly opposed to Superman being more due to what they are. (also RIP Post-crisis Lana, the other main Lanas are simply built different; but also it was Neron so ...). At least Clark Jr. wanted to leave smallville

son & daughter w/Lana Lang (Action Comics #492) : R.I.P. you nonexistent kids. You seemed nice

Lois Lane's son from her coma dream (Showcase #9): uhh what a strange character to rate. So I'm just not going to. idk Superman was trying to get Lois to wake up by making her unhappy so it's weird

Orna Kal-El: alan moore did not write orna at all. She just shows up and says no lines.

Van-El: "I don't think you're real" doesn't hit as hard in the comic. Also he's kinda bland.

Extra note on the black mercy thing:why ISN'T Lyla Lerrol still an actress Moore? Please explain

Richard, M'R'R and K'R'K: nothing characters who also expanded the British empire. this should've ended with K'L'L dismantling the British empire

Twins, with Lois Lane (Adventures of Superman #561): they just sorta exist in Supes's dream. Remind me of the more troublemaker versions of Silver Age twins though (probably a reference since it was a Dominus Effect Epilogue)

Lara Lane Kent (Injustice dream): actually a good character. too bad she's basically the conscience of a man who's basically the worst superman ever.

Martha (Man of Tomorrow #15): She seemed nice despite being fake. At least Clark actually being superman in this fake reality means that she actually gets to do stuff. She wants to go to the moon again. That's it. That's the whole character

onto superman's actual kids;

#55: JLA: Act of God baby; I hate him and everything he stands for

#54: The Others (JLA: Created Equal): Unlike Adam they don't feel sad about being misogynistic and have a change of heart after not during the Luthor fight

#53: Adam Kent: according to the text itself Lex only heightened his misogyny

#52: Kara (and the others) (JLA: Created Equal): She's a girl so she isn't misogynistic. Unfortunately it's weird because she's Power Girl's daughter. seems like a nice person though. these 3 might just be because of me just not vibing with the story but ehh w/e

#51: Lar-El and Vara: these 2 are just kinda really bland. doesn't help that they only show up twice. there's the interesting hook of feeling that Superman abandoned them, but it's too little.

#50: The Twins (World's Finest 35)

I think this basically sums it up. They're basically used as bratty normal babies that Clark gets annoyed by

#49: Bruce Kent: he exists I guess (will not complain about the story, will not complain about the story, will complain about the story; evil captain marvel is dumb and it's weird how different characters are affected by the apocalypse very differently. also the "we belong together" line hate when they do that, but that's not about Bruce Kent so it's moot). that's pretty much it.

#48: Jonathan Elliott: he exists I guess (will not complain about the story, will not complain about the story, will not). that's pretty much it.

#47: Jonathan Kent (Green Lantern: Darkstars): He exists I guess. has a bit more stuff to him, but he ends up being a good dude despite Belzebeth controlling the darkstars

#46: Lara Kent (Dark Knight/Millerverse): idk her vibes are just off. I like her but then she does something and it's like eugh Frank Miller. and her parents also being OOC does her no favors. Her appearance in the third series made me rank her worse. I do like the thing where she finally touches the ground at the end, but I just really dislike her whole character. At least her dad's more in character in the third one ig. her vibes are off

#45: Jonathan Kent (Future State): he's nice i guess. There just isn't much of him so he's right here. Not a lot of room to be a character when it's just like 5 panels

#44: Jonathan Kent (Space Age): he's nice i guess. Rated slightly higher due to a snowball fight. he doesn't do much

#43: Larry & Carole (Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #36) they don't show up much and don't have much characterization besides only one of them becoming a superhero so not ranking those versions. I guess these two at least have some characterization in that they like playing with the space animals and Larry becomes Superman II

#42: Vol: he's fine he's fine. Besides being a character in one of the most batshit insane superman plots; he's just fine. At least he saved his universe and sent Sonn back to the Earth-One Universe. So uhh points for him I guess? He does a bit more than SGFLL 36 Larry and Carole so he's ranked higher. I guess

#41: Krys Kent: I liked him enough but he kinda has nothing going for him. I guess he has a bit of potential in that he could probably learn magic (he doesn't have powers). He seems nice I guess and he also has the fun line near the beginning of the story after Superman throws him, but that's about it

#40: Krys's evil ghost demon extradimensional twin: The villain has more of a character due to talking more, but really he's just evil for the sake of it. Interesting villain... ... ...I guess evil ghost extradimensional beings don't count for Superman's rules

#39: Jor-El II (Action Comics 327): really wants Clark to stop spoiling his kid. He thinks there's no such thing as crooks anymore (he's wrong), but he's always on missions doing Superman stuff I guess. there must be a lot of natural disasters I guess.

#38: Baby Bliss: toddler written during the silver age. At least he helps Clark a bit although most of the time Kal is just confused about the situation and Baby Bliss sometimes does some trickery to Superman. So I'm ranking him near the middle

#37: Lola Kent: points docked for getting with her cousin. Other than that she's good, since she has very similar characterization to pre-crisis superman, who is a pretty good character. but yeah she's down here because of Jimmy Jr. She'd probably be higher if it wasn't for Lucy Lane

#36: Jor-El II: he is a victim. this happened because his mom was a jerk and honestly I'm not sure if Lois really got through to Lois. There's also probably a better way to get through your alternate universe self who's tired of being a housewife. At least his dad was nice the whole time and even apologized about always leaving for missions. Jor-El II's life sucks and I'm not convinced it gets better. ranks low since I didn't really get anything for his characterization

#35: Clark Kent Jr (Superman #404): seems like a nice kid who loves his parents. I like the bit where Lana makes Clark Jr makes Clark gets ice cream but there's really not much here. I will say this was a very interesting imaginary story that I wouldn't mind being expanded on

#34: Superman II (Jorel Kent): he only appears in 3 Superman 2020 stories so he doesn't have much. He really is Superman II. there's not much differentiating himself from his father. Kalel has more going on just because Superman 2020 is about Kalel and not Jorel.

#33: Superman Jr. (Denny O'Neil): He's dead now. Denny O'Neil's take was weird. Still liked him though. He tried heroing even though he caused disasters everywhere he went. I guess he self-sacrificed himself for the good of reality

#32: Joel Perry Kent: He is also a victim because of Ultra Humanite. Idk I think Clark is also at fault here; just tell the dude. However him trying to kill the Vietnamese village is all on him. It doesn't say that Ultra-humanite told him to do it sooo.

#31: Jonathan Kent (Frank Millerverse): he's fine I guess. He felt like the imaginary story kids or silver age superman when he was fighting Darkseid so he ranks a bit higher. like when the supers are like tricksters

#30: Larry (Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #39): He is a bit of a scamp so that's great. He does cause Jimmy to go blind and Lana to breathe fire though, but then again Clark didn't explain the black magic to anyone in the family so really that was Superman's fault.

#29: Superman Jr (World's Finest #154 & #157): started as bit of a jerk to Bruce Jr but basically mellowed out. Since he's only in 2 comics there's not much characterization here and his dynamic with his Bruce Jr isn't as great as the Bob Haney version

#28: Kara Kent: Honestly kinda bland. She has a sweet relationship with Bruce Jr, but that's basically it. Like she has half the powers of Superman and complains about it a few times, but that's really par for the course of biological superman kids. Has a bit more of stuff in Generations 2, but nothing really to make her go higher or lower on this list

#27: Supergirl (Ariella Kent)/R'E'L, the Destroyer of Worlds: reading the dc one million issue again it's not bad but the comedy doesn't land as much as it wants to. despite her crying in that one scene I just don't like her as much as the others unfortunately :/

#26: Johny Kirk (Superman Jr): Nice kid, unfortunate circumstances though. Also his ending was horrible. Where does he even live now. Like he totally should've stayed being adopted by Superman

#25: Tommy: he's just a little guy and unlike almost everyone else that's main canon, he gets a happy ending. Clark could and should check on him from time to time though. Also since he's powerless I find him more interesting than Johny

#24: Jonathan Kent II (Kingdom Come): All things considered he's pretty cool. Most of it is due to cribbing Phantom Stranger's style but he's alright. Do like how he has Hypertime powers; But other than that he's kind of just the monitor from COIE

#23 Larry and Carole* (Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #23): basically more subdued versions of the twins with lady luck, so they're less fun but also they don't seem to purposefully mess with their parents like their earlier counterparts. They also have belts that can be switched on/off to stop them from having superpowers so that's interesting. They're fights also seem more playful than anything

#22::Jonathan Samuel Kent: there's a lot I do NOT like about him but there's lots of good bits and pieces. I unfortunately have to concede that he's not the worst jon.

#21: Twins, with "Lady Luck" in Superman #131: the twins are menaces. But in a fun way. They keep on fighting and messing with each other (& their parents). It's great

#20: Joan Kent: I liked her enough, Liked how she tried to trick Larry at first, although unfortunately that doesn't work and she kinda spends the whole story kidnapped by Ironclaws. I do like how she argued with Larry while Larry was evil, though it seems like they had a soft spot for each other even before Larry turned good. but she ultimately doesn't do much so I had to rank her lower. If it was more of a Joan story than a Lois story she might be ranked higher

#19: Clark Kent Jr/Superman Jr/Superboy (Superman #192 & 194): I liked him more in 192 where he was a bit more mischievous, and then started talking in gigantic words, but he was fine in 194 as well. He was even able to outsmart Lex Luthor. He'd probably be higher if he stayed more mischievous or was still using gigantic words in his vocabulary. I do really like this imaginary story plot though.

#18: Jor-El II/Nightwing (Superman #166): Good character but not as good as his brother, he's basically a kid Superman but he doesn't feel as developed as Clark Superboy. That's probably why they focused more on his brother. He teased Kal-El II at the beginning a bit too much, but he basically stops after Clark tells him to stop

#17: Pyrrhos: Pretty good villain all things considered. don't like that he was the one who killed Darkseid but that's because I read Kirby's New Gods. I liked him enough

#16: Clark Kent Jr./Superman Jr. (Bob Haney): He's great. His dynamic with Bruce Jr. is also great. He's more optimistic and more of a reader than Bruce Jr. I feel like Clark Jr is like a more hotheaded Clark. Even at their most confrontational Batman Jr. and Superman Jr remain friends. points docked a bit due to not really existing without Bruce Jr. He does have a bit of an inferiority complex ("generation gap") due to only being about half as strong as Superman so characterization bonus

#15: Cir-El is neat; the whole weird Mia thing was not. But it's ok cause I'm ranking his kids not his not kids. Kinda suffers for only being in like 13 issues, but i enjoyed her existence while she was there. Like how she kept on thinking of Superman (and Lois) as her parents even after the truth was revealed

#14 Lara Lane Kent (Adventures of Superman #638): liked what little there was of her. She seems like a neat character. Best part was the Calvin and Hobbes homage.

#13 Kal-El II/Flamebird/Kalel Kent (Superman #166): Good character, having no powers while your brother and dad do, gives ample reason for an inferiority complex. I also like how it showed he was a bit smarter due to him deciding to read more books and studying which wouldn't have happened without his inferiority complex about no powers. Also like how he kept messing up with the secret identity bit by accidentally calling Nightwing Jor when they were in Kandor

#12: Laura Kent (Superman Family #200): She's neat. Wasn't born with powers but developed them later, but like in the same day. She seems interesting enough. It ends before she can tell her parents she got powers so unfortunately she's not as high as she could be. Good character from what little we see of her though

#11: Super-Baby (Superman #224): EVIL baby. L.E.G.I.ON. ripped off this guy when they cooked with Lyrl. I like how he completely took over the villains' operations once they made themselves known. Guess he wasn't as intelligent as he thought since Superman specifically booby trapped the springs which was how to make the actual puzzle. Fun villain; just a normal baby know though

#10: Carol and Jane Kent (Secret Identity): only show up as actual characters in the last issue, but it does a decent amount building them up in how their similarities and differences to their dad. Them being less scared than Clark makes sense since they had each other.

#9: Zod (DCAU/A Better World): I actually like this kid quite a bit. Neat powers is a bonus as well. when they focused on him it was actually quite an enjoyable read

#8: Jon Kent (Son of Superman): I actually really like this Jon. He's also kinda funny sometimes. He kinda reminds me of what current Jonathan Samuel was TRYING to be but actually succeeding. It helps that the world he lives in is like our current world but a bit worse. (Some of the characters in the elseworlds feel OOC but other than that I like the story). Jon's just a good character all around.

#7: Osul-Ra & Otho-Ra: these two are pretty close in ranking since sometimes I like Otho more and sometimes I like Osul more, so I'll just put them in the same section. Depending on how other writers write them they may move up (or down). Osul has the Old God stuff while Otho has the more brash stuff.

#6: Lisa Kent/Superlass (Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #91): I just like her as a character. She's nice and a bit brash at times, but honestly all around she seems to just want to help. despite the imaginary story having the end and feeling like a tragedy, it feels more hopeful than certain other stories here. She probably should've asked Lois if she wanted to be cured first though

#5: Kara (Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #20): Honestly this one was just a tragedy of miscommunication, but also Kara and Kal DID ignore Lois a lot which while understandable, but uh yeah. Honestly I blame Lois having to quit her job and the midvale investigator mainly. Kara's basically mainline Kara here, which unfortunately includes the not being adopted (yet) part

#4: Laney (Superman 215): I feel like Laney has more Lois than previous lois kids with superman so she's ranked higher. She's more impatient and curious. She also kinda sorta gets a happy ending though she and clark are mourning and going through grief the whole time. ...I hope other Lois doesn't feel bad about this whole situation, but that's not me ranking Superman's kids. That's me talking about the story

#3: Christopher Kent: Yeah he's great. He's just a really nice kid, who has trauma and also has a bit of trouble fitting in. His age up while weird at least gave him cool powers... eventually. And also I think they fixed it? Mon-El taking him under his wing at the finale was neat too. Bring the actual him back

#2: Jonathan Lane Kent: I wasn't expecting to like him so much. He really develops as a character. and eventually could even be called a hero. Plus the only reason he was even evil in the first place was because he was raised young by Harvest so him eventually actually being a hero makes sense. Weird character though

#1: Gregor Nagy: I actually really like his one and done story. bring him back.

Also:

this is why he's peak. It's ultimately about not feeling like you fit in the world. bonus points for having a completely different power set that's also cool

#0: Jimmy Olsen. obviously. I will have to say Superman was a jerk due to a misunderstanding but Jimmy being the GOAT that he is doesn't mind not being Superman's son. And despite not having a happy ending as a superman son, he does gain/regain 2 other dads

to your 1st question- since dæmons are like extensions of the soul, and byers/the lusii have like different places in the plot already, they’re pretty much the same. i think twins (like the soleils) would share a dæmon tho

since dæmons settling is used as analogous for growing up/sort of also puberty? june’s dæmon wouldn’t settle until dadbert dies. dave and jade’s both would already be settled when they start the game, and rose’s would settle once she started communing with the horrorterrors. also when it came to naming them, i wanted their dæmons to have like. normal names ig. since the beta kids are the normalist homestuck characters.

Okayokay so (also psa, don't be us and do what we did) Nebby and I were fucked up at a kickback at our friends house that was about a 3 min drive but a 30 min walk...we forgot something at home, and decided to drive real quick to get it...(again, please don't do this, I don't condone driving intoxicated/riding in the car with someone who is) and as we're riding on the last street before you turn onto mine...there was a group of deer AND I SWEAR THEY SENSED WE WERE FUCKED because they kept hopping around our car and one rushed close to my window and made me SCREAM 😂 (THAT MF was TROLLING) and mind you this was in the dark...seeing their eyes in the dark is a different kind of scary 😂💕 So lovely living in the mitten...🤭💕

Like, we see tommy is already a bit like "uhh.. okay..." When it comes to them, but like, usually grommers/child predators in real life give gifts to their victims as a way to get they trust, to be easier to manipulate. So like... Idk man, of something else seem weird to tommy in the next chapters, he will think about what happened in this one and might look at it with another mindset.

Phew. I’m not gonna lie, this one has thrown me for a loop since it posted and has been making my brain itch ever since.

First and foremost, I’m trying to not come off as attacking your comment - but this is the forbidden ship, and we get trolls and antis every day - so I’m going to tread lightly, try to answer this respectfully.

I don’t know what you’re getting at or implying. If my intention was to show that Joel was grooming Ellie, it would 100% be tagged or there would be warnings in the notes - I don’t take triggers lightly, you can refer to previous chapters and my other stories to see clear trigger and content warnings - that is not the intent of the story.

Back in chapter 2, when Joel makes the effort to talk to Ellie at the radio station, she shows him what she’s reading - a Savage Starlight comic - while he’s unfamiliar with the content, he is familiar with the title and tells her he’s come across them in Jackson. He’s always intended to get them for her, even before the “illicit affair” began. Joel also admits to himself that when he was alone for all those months, when he was out hunting and scouting, he found things for her that he thought she would like, admits to himself that it’s probably wrong and he knows all of this is a problem. Guilt ridden Joel is my bread and butter, and while he knows they shouldn’t be doing what they’re doing, he doesn’t mean her ill intent.

So, are you just trying to work out future chapters and where I’m going with Tommy? Or are you implying something else? I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt here by answering this ask even though I’m a little uncomfortable at the implications. And maybe it’s me that has my back up because of this ship, but that’s on me.

Anyway, I’m not sure if this addresses what you wanted addressed or not - I’m probably coming off as defensive, but as I said in my earlier post, I’m not used to having to analyze and break down the thought process of each character so I’m not sure what you’re looking for.

(*from here on out I’m just gonna refer to him as halwyr because that’s his name (it sounds like. halware. like malware. this pun was funnier the first time i said it i think))

anyways way back when i made a whole lore post about him & his backstory so i’m just gonna drop random thoughts about him here

he’s intersex that’s a thing that’s recently been added to his lore :) (there was a brief period when he was just a wee grub where he was female-presenting, but he also was a shut in for most of his early life so once he was older troll society just kinda went ‘a male fuchsiablood????? gasp!!!’ because no one really remembers him ever identifying as anything but male and also i like to think that at the very very minimum troll society by and large respects how trolls identify (sorry for going on another tirade but. there’s theoretically a troll out there giving everyone top surgery and i think that’s hilarious) )

back in the old days there was gonna be a whole thing with halwyr having to helm a ship to escape (that happened still. they went to earth where the condesce just so happens to be *cough cough* mind control fuckery involved with the helming *cough cough*) and being a little uhhhh. extra computery because of that. i was grasping at straws for how to make him resemble his canon self personality wise so he ended up being a psionic he has technopathy so that’s cool he doesn’t have to type with his longass claws what was i saying oh yeah anyways that was going to cause him and deirik (troll dirk) to have a more strained relationship and halwyr was going to be bitter about the whole ‘product of genetic experimentation’ thing and also the fact that he ended up being the one used as a living battery but uh. sorry not sorry that didn’t happen deirik and halwyr are moirails now & they care for each other canon is my sandbox and I’m using it to make glass fight me (i couldn’t think of any other reason why they’d have an even remotely brotherly relationship given that siblings aren’t a thing in troll society but i remembered that the mspa wiki page for moirallegiance said it was closest to the greek (roman?) concept of brotherly love so they’re moirails now tada)

*clears my throat* anyways at this point hal and dirk are merely inspiration for halwyr and deirik canon is out the window it hit the ground shattered into a million pieces the best of which i am now using to make a mosaic

halwyr is REALLY fuckin protective of his moirail and friends (except for jaeyke (troll jake) who is his kismesis plus That One Time Deirik Died (And Got Better) halwyr still totally blames jaeyke for that (and jaeyke blames halwyr. isn’t death and resurrection fun 😊 ) also it’s totally jaeyke’s fault don’t even get me started) uhh so basically he’s just protective of deirik roxxan and troll jane who’s name i can’t remember how to spell (jaehna???)

(deirik is jaeyke and halwyr‘s auspice he thinks they’re both idiots)

also he totally uses his status as heir for his peeps’ benefit also also he has brutally murdered a bunch of people for hurting deirik but i think i mentioned that in the lore post (the telekinetic bone-snatching) (at this point idk what i’ve said in the lore post that i might just be repeating)

also also also halwyr is exactly as mentally ill as i am which is to say quite except he doesn’t have social anxiety good for him (no, instead the social anxiety got projected onto ac but that’s a whole nother story)

so he’s very uh. *glances at the fact that i basically just confessed halwyr has the same mental illnesses that i do* let’s just say his mood instability doesn’t mix well with the capital-r Rage that accompanies the higher bloodcastes (hence the brutal murdering, which for legal reasons i must specify did not come directly from me)

unrelated but deirik is a goldblood but he’s offshade just barely enough to be noticeable without getting culled by the drones which is a big reason why halwyr is so protective of him alternia is lethal as fuck especially to the lower castes especially especially to those with even minor mutations

(in the unnamed fun side timeline deirik accidentally murders halwyr and somehow ends up surviving to adulthood and is forced to helm the condesce‘s ship both out of punishment for killing her heir (that she didn’t even like in the first place smh 🙄) and just because he’s ridiculously fuckin op psionics-wise but it’s ok! ghost halwyr ends up in the dream bubbles (there’s no game in this so it’s really just a Because I Said So situation again. if it makes you feel better maybe his lusus got him special afterlife privileges) and the two of them manage to connect over Trollian…. after like 4 sweeps of misery for the both of them💀)

(unrelated they’re both neurodivergent as fuck did i mention that yet)

yknow i get the feeling more people would care about this au if i focused exclusively on deirik instead and also if dave was also a troll but nope. you get halwyr and deirik being joint main characters of the au and distinctly-human alpha dave adopting some traumatized alien teenagers

(deirik belongs to @whydontwebegin btw that’s part of the reason i only ever post about halwyr i don’t think i could characterize deirik accurately)

anyways if anyone reads this far halwyr‘s pesterchum handle is thoroughTechnologist (i was in a hurry coming up with it at the time and it’s long since too late now so don’t @ me) so if you’re ever in the mood for rp I’m online sometimes (I’m afk a lot though so i might not respond)
