These are Headcanons born in a late night (early morning?) group chat between myself and my ever-weary cohorts to fuel and add to our AU Roleplaying Scenarios, fondly named and tagged as the #IcarusAU. It is an alternative universe in which things turn out differently during the disastrous Kannabi Bridge Mission. Rin is still kidnapped by the blasted Iwagakure-nin and Obito and Kakashi still attempt to save her (Kakashi only joining after the Uchiha’s passionate Babble no Jutsu).

Had a dream today and I'm evolving it as I go here

The main idea that Rin didn't die when she tried to unalive herself by Kakashi's hand, but Obito was already traumatized and got in with Madara's Moon Eye plan. So yada-yada, she's the jinchuriki of Sanbi. BUT the difference was that she decided to come out of the closet (a real tight one cuz of her clan but she almost just DIED what to regret now) that she's actually a guy. So FTM Rin guys. Rin is he/him from now on.

He wouldn't change his personality and crush on Kakashi much. Dude is a medic, have you met medics? My extended family has a lot of medics in ER and other and let me tell you, they're ruthless and give 0 fucks.

Oh and since he's a medic he has top notch access to remove his own boobs and change his hormones fucking manually.

I think he would rethink his crush on Kakashi, like, man, he's a loser, plus it's hard to crush on someone who you thought killed you (even tho you made him) AND Kakashi has doomed love with 'dead' Obito and it's a bummer.

Idk about his name tho, he probably would change it just to, unknowingly, create more confusion for poor Obito, who is SURE that Rin is dead-dead and fucking Konoha didn't even made a grave for her and Kakashi doesn't even VISIT.

Madara and Zetsu obviously don't tell him about his development. They don't need him to have a hope in this world again.

Kakashi is just glad that he didn't kill his teammate and maybe they connect better since "Rin" (listen i NEED a name for him, but i have 0 ideas about meaning or what ever. maybe he'd take something to honor Obito's memory?) doesn't crush on him anymore and maybe he's trans too?? idk about it yet but he might act warmer to "Rin" now.

So Obito is just confused, like WHO is this dude from Nohara clan who is now with Kakashi ALL the time (they're still best friends). He doesn't connect that this brown haired (!) medic (!!) from Nohara clan (!!!) with the same marks (!!!) same age as them (!!!!!) might be Rin. like no, nope, Rin a nice gentle lady, not this smoking dude who yells at Kakashi and curses at him cuz he run away from hospital again.

So yeah Obito is just not impressed. But intrigued. And jealous. He stalks Kakashi AND this guy all the time. May develop a crush on both, cuz "Rin" is still the same at his core.

Kakashi would still go in ANBU cuz Minato asked him (still not sure about it, like yeah lets put deeply traumatized 13 yo in assasin squad good job) and stuff.

So idk how canon would go from there, like i doubt that Minato would let 14 yo jinchuriki near another one at this tense situation, even tho "Rin" could've help.

So yeah Kushiha and Minato die, "Rin" barely holds onto the Sanbi but Obito finds out that the guy is holding them. He doesn't connects the dots. Or he does? His mind just CAN'T hold on to the fact that his Rin MIGHT survived.

But maybe "Rin" was closer to the place where they sealed Kuubi in Naruto (maybe he ran there cuz there's Kuubi rampaging and he HAS to help) so Minato entrusted Naruto to him, not to fucking Sandaime.

So yeah, now "Rin" is Naruto's legal dad at the age of 14 and no one can fucking take him away cuz a) it was Minato's dying wish; and b) just fucking TRY to peer "Rin" away from Naruto, you'll get your hand bitten off and NO arguments work, cuz "Rin", who was trained by Kushina in jinchuriki stuff, can make some sort of turtle shield and he hides in it with his new baby and no one can do anything.

And no one can protect baby jinchuriki better than the other jinchuriki so it's fine. Everyone just accepts it.

Naruto is bullied less but I think no one can tell him about his parents cuz Sandaime sucks ass. But "Rin" drops HUGE hints cuz he hates Sandaime now too. Like no shit Tsunade left.

Idk what would happen with Obito if he finds out about "Rin's" identity. he'd come back crawling and crying probably. Maybe try to kidnap him and cry more in Kamui.

In what order the Bijus were sealed in the manga? Did they have an order to be sealed? Like by the number of tails.

Biju Sealing Order

This is one of the many things that I am not as knowledgeable in, actually ":) So I did some research.

Please remember that the sealing order of the Biju in the manga differs greatly from that in the anime. Please refer to this post.

First of all, the only rule when it comes to the Akatsuki's Biju sealing order is that the Kyubi must be sealed last as its power would otherwise overwhelm the Gedo Mazo statue. The other Jinchuriki are sealed in a non-numerical order (ie at random).

The resulting order goes as follows...

1 - Unknown Biju

In chapter 266, we learn that Gaara is the third Jinchuriki to be hunted down by the Akatsuki, meaning that there were two more before him.

2 - Unknown Biju

3 - Ichibi (One Tail)

Gaara is first attacked in chapter 247 and then delivered in chapter 254. The sealing jutsu is then completed in chapter 261.

4 - Unknown Biju

5 - Sanbi (Three Tails)

Sanbi is sealed in chapter 329 after Deidara and Obito hunt it down in chapter 317. The sealing is completed in chapter 331.

Fun fact! The Akatsuki possibly had to wait three to four years before starting their Biju hunt because the Sanbi took a couple of years to respawn.

6 - Nibi (Two Tails)

Nibi is sealed right after Sanbi. Nibi is hunted down in chapter 312 and sealed right after Sanbi. The sealing is completed in chapter 332, in which we learn that there are three more Biju left, meaning that Nibi must be the sixth one to be sealed.

7 - Yonbi (Four Tails)

Kisame delivers Roshi in chapter 353 after which the Yonbi is sealed in chapter 354.

8 - Hachibi (Eight Tails)

The hunt for Hachibi commences in chapter 408. Sasuke delivers Killer B in chapter 416 before Obito finds out that it was a fake in chapter 419.

9 - Kyubi (Nine Tails)

The true hunt for Naruto begins with Pain's attack on Konoha in chapter 418.

We do not know when the Akatsuki sealed the Gobi (Five Tails), Rokubi (Six Tails), or Nanabi (Seven Tails). But we know that two Biju were sealed before Gaara's Ichibi and one more was sealed before the Sanbi and Yugito's Nibi.

Kakashi leaves the village for a few reason’s.

There’s the villagers, who still show hatred of him for being the Jinchuriki while Obito and Rin are celebrated for saving the village from the Sanbi Jinchuriki (an act that involved all three of them and specificlly Kakashi’s leadership and them working together)

He’s also angry that he got skipped over for promotion when he has shown clear advancement (and he won’t hear of his problems because to him they shouldn’t matter even though it’s important to account for them too)

And the biggest deciding factor for him is training. With Konoha in a precarious situation, Sakura-Sensei is being sent on more missions leaving He less time to train her students. Obito is able to find a new Master to train him (Kagami? Or someone else?) and Rin begings training at the hospital with Sakura’s leadership but also the aid of other doctors who ensure she’s on track even with Sakura gone

He has no other Sensei.

Naruto’s busy

Sakura’s busy

He’s fighting against a power sealed inside of him that he cannot control and feels helpless against, and there seems to be no one to help

So he goes to the first person who offers him aid

Many years have passed since the Kannabi bridge mission and Obito slowly grew commited to the plan Madara introduced him to for the world. He took his time to assert a few situations, including everything around Kirigakure; He became the Mizukage's shadow, gathered intels for the Akatsuki and enrolled Kisame. From his time there, he found out that the Sanbi had already been sealed in a jinchuriki and that this jinchuriki had been doing some waves in the shadows. This matter could wait for now.

Then came the Uchiha clan's situation in Konoha, this one piqued his curiosity for the most part, there was nothing relating to his plans. Perhaps eliminating the clan took out a lot of possible threats, that was a bonus, plus a new recruit for the organisation.

The Akatsuki now ready to start gathering the tailed beasts, Obito decided to take charge on finding Sanbi's jinchuriki. Spy and information gathering was always his force, he already found a few of them, it was time for the one he hated the most, a personal grudge against a beast who technically wasn't at fault but Obito still couldn't stand it. It's existence contributed to Rin's demise, he should be the one to bring up a plan on its capture.

Hair freshly cut short (he tried the long haired Madara style, he really did, it's just not for him) and some brand new clothes; green scarf, black comfy shinobi sweater and joggings, plus a new orange mask for he just commited a massacre with his old one, Obito lurks in the shadows near a building. He's been following the travels of illegal weapons and drugs for a few days, he's heard the rumors of the leader being the Jinchuriki he's been looking for.

He keeps his chakra consealed as he stands on the branch of a nearby tree, he waits. Shady people come and go, each not carrying the chakra signature he's looking for.

Obito eventually sits and thinks, he's been playing Madara's role for way too long, it's tiring... He's been thinking on taking a break from it and have a bit more fun now that his plans are in full motions. He does act goofy sometimes, it always takes his ennemies by surprise, perhaps he could make it a whole personality. He rubs a hand in his hair, suddenly lost in thought... It's then that he feels it. Sanbi's chakra!

He's quick to stand up and spy it's origin. A woman walks out of the building, a woman... She seems familiar...

His chakra wavers, a shiver runs up his spine. The Jinchuriki turns her head, Obito sees purple markings on her cheeks. Impossible... She...

Heart beating loud in his chest, flashbacks fill his mind and his dark chakra is no longer concealed, destabilized, he nearly falls off his branch. Obito feels nauseous, who is this, really?

I discovered an old notebook full of ideas for an old AU: Go to my Grave where an OC is reborn in Naruto during Minato’s time to end up becoming the leader of a group called Team Kamikaze which was a squad who infiltrated places and came out after sabotaging things.

Anyways: one thing I’d planned was for the OC to be Hokage instead of Minato which leads to a lot of changes one of which was that she ended up saving Obito and Rin mostly by accident and then creating Team Biju after she decided: you know what? This is good.

As Hashirama had been the one to help seal the Biju, OC would argue that it meant they were part of a treaty, and that as war broke out it meant they got to keep them. Rin got the Sanbi, as in canon. Obito ends up with one of Iwa’s and then Kakashi gets one. Mostly cause I thought it was funny.

The Kyuubi incident still happens to Naruto gets Kurama and then OC goes: you know what would be funny?! And gives Naruto to the trio. She helps raise the kid but it’s mostly them.

So that’s going on. And then the Hyuuga incident. OC listens to the demands, laughs and goes: hey where is the two tails?

Surprise Konoha ninja snuck in to steal the older jinchuriki before the Biju got passed on and then they took him to Konoha where a ‘random’ child got picked.

Aka Sakura.

Sasuke will get one to I just don’t know which yet.

For the fic summary: Rin and Kurenai go on a mission together, and along the way encounter Yugito Nii, who recognizes that Rin has Sanbi, but is curious rather than hostile. What follows is a conversation between the three about their views on being ninja.

Oooh, yes! That is exactly my kind of thing. Thank you! This isn't quite a fic, but a bunch of headcanons:

Yugito only knows 1 other jinchuriki, Bee, and they both have pretty solid standing in their own village. She's rarely had to deal with this bigotry, but she gets being a woman in a male-dominated world where you are consistently underestimated and mocked.

Perhaps this is Rin and Kurenai shortly after Kurenai discovers Rin is a jinchuuriki. Kurenai is still unsure of how to reconcile her friend with the bijuu she's carrying around. How do you talk about it? Is her friend dangerous now? She doesn't want to believe that, but that doesn't mean there's no danger at all. SHe's initially scared when Rin and Yugito get together.

Depending on the AU, Rin most likely doesn't know any other jinchuriki around her own age, and she's very eager to learn how Yugito copes and what her relationship with her bijuu is. Yugito is happy to share, and can read between the lines that Konoha doesn't treat its jinchuriki kindly.

Kurenai gets to experience these two incredibly powerful kunoichi be in perfect control and learns there's a grace and dignity to being a jinchuriki that she never expected. Being a shinobi is hard - being the universally hated custodian to a massive chakra rage monster is even harder. Whatever Kurenai's own struggles are, theirs are even greater. She comes away from it all with a renewed respect for Rin and jinchuriki in general.

I just realised that not only is Team Minato 3/4 jinchuriki, but Naruto's family is 5/6 jinchuriki 😭😭

because Yagura had Isobu after Rin 🫳🏃‍♀️⚡️ but then he also lost Isobu permanently when the Akatsuki extracted Isobu, I think Yagura was the first jinchriki to have been killed by the Akatsuki, do you think Obito had beef because of Isobu

also fun fact ^-^-^-^-^ Isobu is the only tailed beast that actually "died" ^-^-^-^-^ (before he was revived and sealed in Yagura.)

An Observation of Obito Spoilers for Shippuden Ahead!!

I want to talk about Obito, more specifically, the way he was handled toward the end of Shippuden, and his personality regarding his beliefs about being a 'nobody' and pretending to be two different people since he was like....14 years old. For a long while, his entire philosophy was akin to Madara's but instead of seeing himself as a god/the person who was going to be responsible for Tsuki no Me he saw himself as a vessel for this 'plan'. A nobody. (See, his quote: I'm no one… I don't want to be anyone. All I care about is completing the Tsuki no Mei. This world is completely worthless… there is nothing left in it but misery.) Or at least, he tried to be. Obito in particular is a really odd character to me in some aspects, especially with the way he's written in the original series because he's shown to be batshit insane, yet, only when it was convenient to Kishimoto. Without hesitation or mercy, he massacred all of the women and the children in the Uchiha Clan, he literally turned the Yondaime Mizukage (Yagura) into a tyrant and helped with the purges of all Kekkei Genkai in Kiri, he enabled and possibly even helped Danzo to corrupt the Akatsuki, and countless other atrocities. He was able to do all of this by separating himself from Obito. He no longer saw himself as such. He became Madara, and then Tobi for YEARS of his life but that didn't have a psychological effect on him? No identity crisis, no blurring lines between himself and the others he was pretending to be, and he certainly didn't deal with any kind of derealization from being a nobody. So, what's up with that? Well, my personal theory is that the lines most likely did blur for a time, because of his inability to accept Rin's death, (most likely during the two-year period between Naruto and Naruto Shippuden) before, with Shiro/Kuro Zetsu's help, most likely, he used it to reinforce his hate and give himself the motivation to continue on. Replaying Rin's death, and reminding himself of his hatred for Kakashi, over, and over, and over again was most likely one of the only reasons that he would be able to properly continue on. It solidified his hatred, but also the identity he was fighting so hard to get rid of. That was where he failed. In everything. Obito's Redemption could've been a chance to go deeper into his feelings as Tobi, expand more on the Bloody Mist, (this is me officially begging for more Kiri content), and much more. It could've achieved much more in some aspects, but in other aspects, it did well. One thing I do like about it, is that Kakashi had no way of knowing some of the things that Obito had done, (Kirigakure and Uchiha Massacre, mostly.) So, when Kakashi suggested that he allow himself to live and atone and Obito refused that offer, it made genuine sense for someone who had regretted their choices. I noticed that there had been hints that Obito was a direct descendant of Madara as well, and the dynamic between the two was something I enjoyed as well. I wish that they expanded a little bit more on just how crazy Obito could be, his relationship with the other Akatsuki members (because remember, he hung around as Tobi for at least three years), and gave him some interactions with Jiraiya. I will eventually end up speaking on his relations and feelings toward Kirigakure, but this post is long enough as is, so I'll leave it here. Thank you for reading, and have a good day!

im also having something of a minor crisis bc i keep making up different flavors of what is essentially the same character bc i want that kind of personality type to play off kisame's (for obvious reasons lmao) and as much as i enjoy each version of this character (one version is an ice user, one is a wood user, one is that sanbi jinchuriki, and the current one im thinking about is a bone user) im like. struggling to make them all way more individually distinct from one another. esp since as im moving on and discarding them (from the og concept which is... having a funney little guy to pal around with kisame) LIKE as fun as it is to play in this space of kisame having a rotating cast of boyfriends that are all suspiciously similar, i am kind of frustrated with myself being unwilling to think about these characters beyond that >:/
