Propaganda:

They have a huge special interest in art, and painting is all they want to do. However, pretty much everything they create is horrifically terrifying and cursed and thus they were forced to destroy all their work after completion and not show it to anyone else (this changes later when they make friends that can understand then and their work, but that's a whole other thing).

Not being able to express theirself through their preferred method led to them socially isolating from everyone else, and they were terribly alone for a long time. It doesn't help that their natural size and appearance comes across as very scary to other demons.

In both ending themes of the anime adaptation, Wakaba is depicted as a singer that entertains a large crowd. Additionally, she constantly monologues and cracks jokes throughout the series.
