Samâs wrist were reddened from the unforgiving metal of the cuffs. Scraped up. Tender. His chest heaving underneath Deanâs, slick with perspiration and trembling sweetly.
And Dean thinks nothing could be more perfect.
The tipped back head of his little brother; his chin spit-slicked, lips bitten raw and plump, the ripple of his throat when he swallowed hard; holding back his noises. Holding back his tears.
And thatâs something Dean wanted to see. A desperate jolt of warm-edged desire, low in his belly, fanned hotter by Samâs tiny shifting movements under him. Soft boy. Submitting sweetly. Biting back his trepidation and tears in order to please Dean. And damn if it wasnât a power trip.
A heady sense of control. Complete and absolute.

tbh one of the main reasons why i disagree with the popular take that sam secretly wants to be dominant/aggressive with dean is because i canât think of at least one scene from canon where sam (possessed!sam and soulless!sam donât count) genuinely enjoyed having control over dean. i think itâs very telling that thereâs a lot of moments where sam willingly lets dean take physical control in their relationship and it seems like he even welcomes it. something about the way he willingly lets dean manhandle him or hit him and the way he makes himself small around dean, especially when dean hugs him. much to think about. he also knows that dean *needs* to have physical control over him, dean literally craves it and he goes violent and insane when he doesnât have at least a little bit of control over sam. thatâs part of why sam is able to manipulate him by being submissive but again he prefers it that way/does it willingly, and honestly iâm obsessed with that. yes itâs fucked up but thatâs why their dynamic is so delicious
#âsam secretly craves controlâ âsam is a secret s*dist who gets off on hurting his brotherâ literally none of this is supported by canon#what sam wants from dean is to have freedom to make his own choices which has nothing to do with physical control in their relationship#also his need to physically submit to dean is still stronger than his anger and itâs also canon#their scenes with girls donât really mean anything here because sam and deanâs dynamic is a completely different story#âdean is gay and a subbottom because he prefers to be subby with GIRLSâ please. be serious#dean who canonically mostly is violent with other men. dean whoâs monstrosity is about enjoying the impalement of others (again mostly men)#in other words purgatory was about dean enjoying being a top a little too much#wincest#sam winchester#dean winchester#spn

I think what is missing with 4-sided Dive that Talks Machina had was a third party to have those character discussions with. It's not the same with a fellow PC. Also someone with interviewing abilities, sometimes I feel like they meander so much.
And I do like to watch them talk, I do watch old episodes of AWNP, fireside chat, etc, but for discussing the game/campaign I think the mechanics of it muddles with the flow.
I personally feel no value is added from the tower of inquiry or the cup questions, though I don't mind the game playing at the end since at this point who had their curiosity satisfied can simply leave, but answering while playing which they tried doing at least once I watched didn't work at all.
Edit: Btw when I say no value is added I mean the format (being in a cup, pulling from the tower) and not the questions themselves.
#and. idk about y'all. but the broom bit just goes over my head#does anyone actually find that funny?#i can see some of them either don't want or don't like 'hosting'#them reading off the teleprompter also ruins the mood#i wish there was someone prepared to guide them through these conversations#maybe not dani bc she's prone to adding her own insights. which i like! but not in a host#SOMEONE TO CONTROL SAM#i *love* him but he derails so much#anyway. I'm not saying 4sided dive is doomed. but I think it has a *long* way to go before it's on TM level#unless you hated brian then all I'm saying must sound like bs xD#AND btw i have no nostalgia for TM. I hopped on this train in c3 and I haven't watched c2#i just really enjoyed their conversations#talks machina#4-sided dive#critical role#cr stuff#4 sided dive#(late addendum: this was written b4 the shitty dude's debacle. im really sad he ruined to show for everyone that admired him in the past#BUT i still recognize the value it had. not just from his hosting but from the format. the questions submitted#while my opinion remains. my admiration for him does not. i still wish for a host for the new show. obviously someone different)

Scream
Jenna Ortega x Fem!Reader
Description: "When Jenna can't help but fall in love with her coworker, but she's too much of a coward to confess believing you don't feel the same, however, the girl is wrong you would kneel for her."
Words: 18.1k
Saju: "ENJOY IT LOVE"
---
Jenna Ortega is a well-known name. She is an authentic woman with unreal beauty, creativity, cuteness, education, intelligence, and more. I could spend days complimenting her without getting tired. Like many people, I know Jenna from her works. Watching her performances on screen is already something gratifying and magnificent, but nothing compares to witnessing her talent in person.
How do I know this? Well, perhaps because, thanks to my job, I had the opportunity to work alongside one of the people I admire. Since a very young age, I have always been interested in parkour, martial arts, and boxing. Recognizing my potential in these areas, my father ensured I learned everything. Thankfully to him, I have the most enjoyable job â being a stunt double.
---
You logically started with small films and series, sometimes even commercials and a few games. You had begun to gain popularity among directors, especially after being the stunt double for ZoĂŤ Kravitz in "The Batman" and being the motion and body model for a new character in the Resident Evil game franchise. The director of "Scream VI" was looking for a stunt double for Melissa Barreram, the actress playing Sam Carpenter. Like other stunt doubles, you submitted a video showcasing your skills. After seeing your performance and how adept you were at both agile and heavy movements, they hired you for the role. You've been enjoying the experiences to the fullest.
At this moment, you were heading to the set and also meeting with the cast. During the filming, you had gotten close to almost all the actors, especially Jenna and Melissa. As you arrived, you spotted Jasmine and Mason from a distance, quickening your pace to reach them. "GOOD MORNING, BEAUTIES!" You kissed both of them on the cheek. "Good morning, lovely! You woke up in high spirits today," Jasmine said after you sat beside her. "I also noticed. Does it have something to do with a 5'1" Latina who loves playing characters with no sanity?" Mason teased while ruffling your hair.
You weakly slapped his arms, scoffing as they both broke into laughter. But when you were about to say something, a familiar scream interrupted. "MELISSA, STOP!" In minutes, you saw a small figure running towards you and hiding behind you. "Y/n, protect me, pleaâ" Jenna was interrupted by a furious Melissa chasing her. They ran around the table, making everyone laugh at the actresses' cuteness.
You decided it would be better to stop them before someone got hurt. You got up, caught Melissa in your arms, and held her tight. She struggled a little, but your grip was firm. Though she might be taller, you were stronger. You placed her beside Mason and sat back down, chuckling. Jenna sat beside you, and you offered her a water bottle. After she thanked you and turned to the group, you couldn't help but laugh at the situation.
Your eyes roamed every detail of her face, from her freckles to her dimple, her button nose, and the lips you wanted to feel so badly. Jenna felt her heart jumping in her chest, as if she would pass out from how intensely you were looking at her. She started leaning her face towards yours, interlinking her gaze between your eyes and your lips. Hypnotized, both of you were so entranced by each other that you didn't notice when you were called, "LOVE BIRDS!! WE HAVE SCENES TO SHOOT!! STOP EATING EACH OTHER AND GO TO THE SET!!" Jasmine, always the sweetheart, got your attention, making both of you jump a little and put some distance between yourselves.
The staff and some actors had already entered; only you and Jenna were missing. You remained in silence, trying to tame your heartbeats and your blush. You heard Jenna clearing her throat, "Uh... I-I think it's better if we go inside too." Jenna said while getting up and walking to the set, not giving you time to reply. You stayed for a bit longer, trying to absorb what just happened. Would you guys really have kissed if you weren't interrupted? You put your hands on your head, sighing, and started your way to the set.
You had started the recordings, and now you found yourself restless and apprehensive. At the moment, you were shooting the theater scene, and seeing Jenna hanging there wasn't pleasant. You couldn't believe how many times this girl faced danger without fear. She had mentioned loving to do her own stunts, and you couldn't blame her. You felt incredible after your own acrobatics. Still, you feared that one day she might get seriously injured. You couldn't help but worry about her.
You almost ran towards her when the director gave the order for her to fall, but you held back and sat down again. Her character and Jack's had a brief dialogue, and following the script, Tara thrust the knife into Ethan's mouth. You couldn't deny that seeing her smile of relief after her action and the blood on her face made you more infatuated with her than you already were.
Just as it was said, you knew Jenna from other works, and since then, you admired her. Just like her fans, you couldn't resist the charms of this Latina. Since the first day of filming, you've been falling more and more in love with her. She doesn't help much in easing these feelings since, from the first day, she hasn't let go of you. Not that you're complaining, but trying to stop liking her is almost an impossible mission.
You would really like to confess your feelings to Jenna, but you feel that she deserves someone better, someone who understands her (in the work sense) and who is a beautiful woman that fits with her. You're just the stunt double, the tomboy, as some call you, simply because you have a more sculpted body, a muscular physique, and a tomboyish style. You've always faced these kinds of unpleasant comments for these reasons. Your friends always comfort you, and your small fan community defends you as much as they can.
Jenna also always comforts you when some of these comments shake you. She always says that you're like a Doberman, always with a stern face, ready to snap at anyone who comes close. She said she feels safe with you, as if she were at home. Lost in your thoughts, you hadn't noticed that they had finished the scenes. You also didn't see a certain short girl watching you attentively.
Jenna observed every trace of your face, every bit of you. From your curly hair to your tattoos, she loves every part of you. She finds herself hopelessly in love with you, every aspect of you, habits, wordsâyou leave her fascinated. It wasn't in her plans to fall in love, but on the day she saw you, she knew her heart wouldn't hold up. She perfectly remembers how her heart skipped a beat after seeing you. You were in simple clothes that highlighted your curves and, most importantly, your muscles. But the fatal blow was the smile you gave her after hugging her.
But Jenna is afraid of this, of these feelings. She has always been more focused on work, never paid much attention to romance. But now, after getting to know you, she daydreams about your life together.
She wants to confess, but she never manages to. She always retreats before revealing her feelings, afraid that you won't fit into her life or even that you'll distance yourself because of it. That's why she hasn't confessed yet. But the desire is there, what's lacking is courage and a bit of shame.
Jenna shook her head slightly to get rid of these thoughts and silently approached you since you were still distracted. She came close to you, laughing at your expression, and on impulse, she squeezed your shoulders and gave you a kiss on the neck, staying with her face there. "Jenna! Why did you scare me like that?" You said in a playful manner, covering your face, hearing the girl laugh at the situation. "Sorry, mi corazĂłn, it wasn't my intention, but you looked so beautifully distracted, and I couldn't resist." She hugged you, and you turned a bit, pulling her onto your lap, hugging her waist and resting your head on her shoulder.
Jenna put her arms around your neck and planted a kiss on the top of your head. You didn't say anything, just enjoyed each other's presence. It was enough. The connection you two had was visible for everyone to see, and it was a beautiful thing. That's why many didn't bother you two. Unfortunately, your moment was interrupted by the director calling you to shoot some stunts. Both of you sighed; you gave Jenna a little pat on the thigh signaling her to get up. "No! I'm not leaving. I'm home..." She said in a cute, whiny voice, and your heart skipped a few beats. "I'm home," you couldn't help but smile.
You tightened your embrace. "It's okay, my love. I promise to spend the whole rest of the day with you." You cupped her face, caressing her cheek. Jenna felt butterflies having a party in her stomach. Ugh! How she wanted to kiss you until the air evaporated from her lungs, but she restrained herself, moving away a bit and raising her pinkie finger, "Do you promise with your pinkie?" You laughed at her cuteness and joined your pinkies, "I promise, mi amor." You kissed her fingers, making Jenna even more infatuated.
"Then go do those stunts quickly because I want to be cuddled up with you all day." You picked her up, making her squeal and then burst into laughter. You put her down and started walking toward the actors, but you stopped, turned back, and ran towards Jenna. However, what she had to say got stuck in her throat. You had given her a kiss on the eyebrow and whispered in her ear, "See you later, mi amor."
You ran off after the director shouted your name, leaving a paralyzed and tomato-red Jenna behind. She snapped out of her trance and ran to her trailer, laughing like a love-struck teenager.
---
The sun had already set when everyone was released from the recordings. The sky was partially orange, and its dim light guided you to your trailer. You knocked on the door, and it didn't take long for Jenna to open it. "You took your time!" She pulled you into a hug. "Mi amor, you were the one who got released early, haha!" You squeezed her in your arms, resting your chin on her head. You stayed like that for a few more minutes.
"Let's go inside; you must be tired." She led you in, closing the door once you entered. "Can I take a quick shower, princess?" You asked, seeing a cute pout forming on her face. "But... I wanted to cuddle with you now." She pouted, and you couldn't resist the cuteness, pinching her cheeks, making her pout intensify.
"My love, this will only take me a few minutes, and then you can have me all to yourself." Jenna looked at you with those bambi eyes and agreed, going to sit on the couch while you prepared. As you had said, after a few minutes, you were already by her side, watching none other than "Puss in Boots 2" haha. You were lying on the couch, and Jenna was lying on top of you.
There was a pleasant silence between you two, only the sounds of the movie were heard. You lowered your gaze to Jenna, observing every detail of her, from eyebrows to lips. You became (once again) hypnotized. Jenna felt your burning gaze on her head and turned her face, resting her chin between your breasts, "What's wrong?" She asked, giving you a small smile. You just shook your head, watching her, seeing how every part of her reacted. God, you were hopelessly in love and didn't know what to do.
You wanted to shout at the top of your lungs about how much you love her, wanted to kiss her, love her, take care of her, wanted to be with her. But you are a coward who can't take action and is afraid of losing her in every way. You ran your hand over Jenna's face, gently caressing her with your thumb, watching her close her eyes and practically melt into your embrace.
Jenna turned her face, depositing a kiss in the palm of your hand, still with her eyes closed. She felt the temperature of her body increase with each touch of yours; to feel you so close is a blessing and a curse at the same time. She wanted to have you like this but as her girlfriend, as the love of her life and not as "friends"; she hated that term. She wants to have the freedom to kiss you, love you, but fear and insecurities consume her, and gradually she gets closer to possibly losing you.
You were in your bubble; no one spoke anything, just felt the touches of your bodies and souls. Jenna opened her eyes, seeing your eyes fixed on her, and you realized youâd been caught. So, you sent her a crooked smile with your cheeks reddish. You realized how close your faces were, and with courage taken from your ass, you gradually started to close the distance between you two.
Jenna also started to close the distance; she felt her body tremble in anticipation. She put her hands on your shoulders, grabbing your shirt. "Kiss me⌠Kiss me please Y/N." Jenna grabbed your face, putting her forehead on yours. She slightly dragged her lips across your face, whispering, "kiss me mi amor."
"F*ck it," you pulled her neck and kissed her. The kiss was hurried, but firm. In it, love and desire stored for so long were transmitted. Sighs were released, hearts accelerated and synchronized, bodies hot like the embers of a bonfire, hands exploring every part of the bodies, every curve, caressing the skin like a brush caresses.
The air became scarce, and both, reluctantly, separated. Jenna had opened her eyes slowly, trying to reason if what just happened was true or just another one of her dreams. She lay on your chest, still panting, and looked at you, waiting for you to open your eyes and snap out of the trance.
You felt like you were in the clouds, more alive. You opened your eyes, seeing the woman of your dreams watching you. "Are you real? Like... did this really just happen, or am I delirious?" You asked her while caressing her hair. Jenna smiled, showing her dimple, and hid her face in your neck.
You both were euphoric, finally! You had fulfilled one of the wishes, but the doubt still lingers. Even though you had just kissed each other with all of you, with your hearts, you can't help but question, "Does she really like me?"
You cleared your throat, bringing Jenna's attention back to you. "Uh... I know we just kissed as if the world were ending, but... uh... what are we now? Like, do you really like me? Because I likeâ No! I... I love you, Jenna." You confessed, watching Jenna react with disbelief. "I've loved you since the day I met you, with your more reserved way, your somewhat eccentric humor, your sarcasm, your freckles." You said everything with a smile on your face and a special sparkle in your eyes. "You can't imagine all the times I held back from kissing you, telling you how much I love you. All the tears I shed for you, feeling insufficient for you." You let out a shaky sigh; getting all of this off your chest is a relief.
Jenna couldn't explain what she felt at this moment. Relief? Happiness? Sadness? She couldn't believe that you were really saying all this; her heart felt like it was going to explode with so much happiness. But she felt sad hearing your last words, "How dare you feel that way?!? Y/n, I've never felt so happy, safe, and comfortable with anyone like I feel with you. It's like my heart already knew that you would take care of it with your life." She passed her hand over your face, wiping away the tears that you didn't even realize were falling.
"You make me feel so many things at once, but none of them is something bad. You always take care of me, make me feel beautiful, make me feel like I can conquer the world and the universe. You are my star; you are more than enough for me, mi amor. And answering you, I love you too, and I want this to turn into something more. I want you as my partner for the rest of my life." She chuckled lightly; her soul felt light after confessing, after knowing that you also love her.
You hugged each other with big smiles on your faces. Both have a lot to learn, but now, they won't do it alone. You have each other, and this union will be hard to break. Your love is special, like the love of the sun for the moon.

Y/NâS POV
The knocking on your motel room door startles you, and you grab your gun from the waistband of your jeans and cautiously step towards the door. Flicking the safety off, you place the barrel onto the wood and cautiously open it just enough to see whoâs on the other side.
âSam? Cas?â you gasp, throwing the door open wider.
âYou should be more careful, Y/N. We could be demons or shapeshifters or any other kind of monster,â Cas speaks first, and you blink at him, amused, as always, by his directness.
âNice to see you, too, Cas,â you smirk, opening the door wider to let them in.
âHey, Y/N,â Sam says as he leans down to hug you. âItâs good to see you.â
âYou too, Sam,â you smile as you close the door behind them. You know whatever this unplanned visit is, itâs about Dean.
âYou seem healthy,â Cas states, tilting his head to the side and frowning as if searching for something. âAnd yetââ
âSo!â Sam interrupts quickly. âHow have you been?â
âFineâŚâ You narrow your eyes at the alphaâs strange behaviour. âThis isnât a social visit, is it?â You finally ask.
âNo,â Cas confirms, and you donât know if youâre glad heâll get straight to the point or if youâd prefer Sam to dance around it all a little more.
âDean.â Itâs not a question. Itâs a statement. You knew from the way your stomach dropped the second you saw them that this wasnât a good news visit.
âI asked Cas to find you,â Sam said softly.
You and the younger Winchester have stayed in touch since you left the bunker, but you agreed you wouldnât tell him where you were, and he wouldnât ask. It was one thing for Dean to find out they were talking, but itâd be another entirely if he knew Sam knew where she was.
âWhat happened?â Your mind goes to the worst possible scenario, and you try to fight the rising nausea.Â
âDean has been taking store bought suppressants,â Sam says, and you feel your blood boil.
âWhat? Why? Why would he be so goddamn stupid? Did he know what theyâd do to an alpha in his situation?â you fume at the men as you pace the threadbare carpet.
âNo. He knew they werenât suitable long-term, but the side effects he experienced werenât typical,â Cas answered.
âI thought it was a mix of the drugs and rejection sickness and that itâd ease over time,â Sam says calmly and quietly. âBut I think he suffered some kind of chemical reaction to them, and by the time I found out what he was taking, it was too late.â
âToo late? Sam, what are you saying?â Youâre terrified of what heâs so anxious to tell you.
âHeâs feral, Y/N,â Cas finally puts you out of your misery, and while itâs bad news, itâs not the worst thing they couldâve told you. âBut I donât understand why you are not.â
Itâs not an accusation. The angel is just curious about alphas who mate with but donât claim omegas. To his literal knowledge, an alpha finds an omega, they mate, thereâs a claim, an unbreakable bond, and pups. Your situation with Dean had always intrigued the celestial being.
âBecause Iâve been taking the suppressants I should. Prescribed by a doctor. Why didnât he do the same thing?â Contrary to the angelâs question, yours is accusatory as you look between Sam and Cas.
âYou know what heâs like, Y/N. He doesnât talk about these things, and I didnât know until a few days ago. Heâs been overcome with guilt for how he treated you, and I thinkâŚâ Sam trails off, noticing from the look on your face that you know what he was alluding to.
âYou think this is some kind of self-sacrifice?â you ask in disbelief. Dean is well known for his self-depreciation, and itâs something youâve seen and heard from him many times, but this? âNo⌠No, I donât believe that. Why would he put himself through that just to go feral anyway? Why not just lie down and let it happen on its own?â
âYou really want me to answer that?â Sam asks, and you frown.
âSam, you canât be serious! Dean is not doing this to punish himself for hurting me. Thereâs no way,â you argue, but you know the green-eyed alpha better than he knows himself. It does sound like something heâd do to himselfâsome kind of fucked up repentance for his behaviour.
Sam only shrugs, and you sigh, knowing youâve both come to the same conclusion.
âSo, what? You want me to go to him? Get him out of this mess?â
âYouâre his mate. Only you can get him back from this,â Cas says, and you laugh bitterly, taking the angel by surprise.
âI bet Dean loves that!â you scoff. âAnytime I told him that like it or not, weâre mates, he shot me down in flames!â
âI know he hurt you, and I canât imagine how hard this is for you, and Dean knows it too. He told me not to look for you. That he doesnât deserve your help, but Iâm asking you to think about it. Please?â
âI donât know, Sam. If I go to him, you know what it means, right?â you check, not convinced either of them fully understand what theyâre asking of you.
âI do,â Sam responds.
âAnd you know itâs pretty much a done deal that heâll claim me in his feral haze? And then when he comes to, heâll regret it and reject me? Youâre asking me to sacrifice myself for him? Because I wonât survive his rejection, you both know that, right?â
âHeâd never reject you, Y/N,â Cas confirms what you know in your heart, but it brings no comfort.
âOh, because a forced claim and being stuck with someone who doesnât want me is a better fate than dying from rejection!â
âHe does want you. He loves you. He just canâtââ Sam starts, but you interrupt with a scoff.
âGive me what I want. I know, Sam. Heâs told me that so many times itâs imprinted in my memory!â You huff, quickening your pacing.
You want to say no. You want to protect yourself and your fragile heart thatâs still trying to heal, but you know if you were the feral one, Dean would already be here, doing everything he could to get you through itâeven claiming you just so youâd survive.
He doesnât deserve to die, and yet, you donât deserve to be someoneâs mistake, but you canât see any other option. If you donât go to him, heâll die. If you go to him, and he doesnât reject you, youâll be miserable, but youâll both be alive.
âFuck!â you yell in frustration. Once again, you feel that self-loathing that only Dean seems able to bring out of you. You hate yourself because you still love him even after everything, and youâd sacrifice everything to save him.
âWhere is he?â
Walking up to the secluded cabin, you shiver at the deathly silence surrounding you. As if being this deep in the woods isnât ominous enough, there isnât even a bird chirping or an insect buzzing in the heavy air.
Youâre so deep in the woods that the midday sun canât even breach the trees. You drove as close as you could, but youâd had to abandon your car about a mile back. This is probably the safest house Bobby had ever found, and you have to admire Dean for choosing this one to hide out in.
Sam had given you the key. At first, youâd been shocked heâd lock Dean in with no way to escape, but you knew feral alphas arenât to be taken lightly. There had been cases of ferals going on murder sprees, and the green-eyed hunter would never risk putting people in any kind of danger.
âDean?â you call out as you knock on the door. âItâs Y/N. Sam found me. He said you need my help.â With no response, you take a deep breath, preparing yourself for being too late, and put the key in the lock.
Pushing the door open slowly, the sour smell of Deanâs feral rut slams into you, and immediately your body begins to respond to the distressed alpha. Your skin tingles, heat floods your veins, and slick pools at your entrance. Youâve never been more grateful for a heat to come on as you are now. If it didnât, Dean could seriously hurt or even kill you trying to get himself out of this.
âOmega,â Dean growls from the doorway of the bedroom and with one look at his bloodshot eyes, you know thereâs little to no humanity in him right now.
âAlpha,â you whimper and bow your head in submission.
âMine,â he groans in front of you, and you jump, having not heard him move across the room.
Dean buries his head in your neck and inhales your scent, gasping as if heâd been suffocating, and your scent is his oxygen.
âMy âmega,â Dean snarls and slams you against the wooden door. You whimper at the pain and remind yourself not to fight. If you fight, things could get ugly.
Pawing at your jeans, he tries to undo them, but in his desperation to get at you, he canât grasp the little brass button and punches the wall next to your head in frustration.
âHey,â you purr, placing a hand on his cheek and smiling as he leans into your touch, âItâs okay, Alpha. Let me.â
Loosening the button and pulling the zipper down, you kick off your shoes, slide the denim from your legs and step out of them. Moving to your shirt, you begin pulling at the material when Dean slaps your hands away.
âNo!â he growls. âMine.â
Dean isnât gentle when he claws at your shirt, grabbing the neckline with both hands and ripping the cotton from your body. The groan that rumbles from his belly when your lace-covered breasts are exposed to his gaze has slick soaking through your underwear.
He wastes no time placing his lips on the tops of your breasts, biting and sucking the sensitive skin, marking you in a way he never has before. Dean pulls the cups of your bra down and quickly finds a hard nipple, and you groan from his overzealous assault.
You whine as the alpha pulls away from you, but before you can complain further, Dean lifts you on his shoulder and carries you to the bedroom.
âStrip,â he orders as he places you back on your feet, and you donât dare disobey or take your time removing your bra and panties.Â
âGood girl,â he praises as he takes his clothes off, and you wonder if just being here is making him a little less feral. âGet on the bed, Omega.â
Again, you donât dare take your time and quickly crawl onto the bed and wait for his next instruction. Dean kneels at the bottom of the bed, pulls you down by your ankles, and pushes your knees down to the mattress.
âMine,â he growls as the scent of your slick reaches him, and he lowers his head between your legs. Heâs not gentle, anything but, and his longer stubble scratches and jabs at your soft, sensitive skin. Itâs sore, yet you quickly fall apart on his mouth.
Before you fully come down from your high, Deanâs fingers are inside you, and heâs sucking and biting his way up your body. When this is over, your skin will be an interesting spectrum of colour; you can already see patches of red on your breasts from earlier, and Deanâs not done with them yet as he goes back to sucking and biting your nipples.
As your forced heat takes over, the pain from Deanâs bites and rough hands ease, and all you can feel and hear now is desire and pleasure and growls and snarls, and Dean, mumbling mine over and over again while his teeth nip at your neck.
âPresent, Omega,â Dean growls as he pulls back from your body just enough to let you turn around. You crawl further up the bed and lean forward onto your elbows. You unintentionally wiggle your ass as you get comfortable in your new position, making Dean growl deeply and spank your round cheeks.
You feel his hands slide up your thighs and over your ass. His touch soothes and cools your heated skin. When he finally slams into your slick, aching pussy, itâs hard, rough, and deliciously painful.
Dean is fully feral, and thereâll be no stopping him until he comes out of the rut in five or six days. You know it wonât be pretty, and you wonât come out of this unscathed. At least your heat is making you feel like a wanton whore.
As your humanity is overtaken by omega, much like Deanâs is with alpha, your last thought is being grateful for being in a cabin in the middle of the woods, in the middle of nowhere.
Itâs been six days, and Dean still pounds into you like thereâs no tomorrow. Your heat is starting to wane, but hasnât subsided so much that you wonât still be pliable under his hands. Still, at least the heat fog is beginning to lift, and you hope itâs a sign that Deanâs rut is finally ending.
It took four knots to get him out of his feral state, but his rut is intense, and heâs insatiable. You suppose the combination of suppressants and being feral will do that to an alpha.Â
ââMega,â Dean grunts as his hand slides up your spine and grips your neck. âSo good for me, baby girl.â
His praise makes you purr, and you feel his hand slide from your neck into your hair and wrap his fist around it, making your body turn to jelly. Dean tugs your hair, and youâre forced to raise to your knees, your back pressed against his chest, and he pulls your head to the side by your hair, exposing your neck to him.
Itâs already black and blue from the gnawing heâs been doing there this past week, but this is different. Heâs scenting you and licking your mating gland and whining. Dean loves licking and kissing your neck, but not like this. It feels different. Thereâs a change in the atmosphere, and his thrusts are brutal and stuttered.
You try to move, try and get him away from you, but he snarls and yanks your hair painfully, keeping a hold of it so you canât move.
âDean,â you whimper, and he snarls again at the use of his name, and you know heâs not as far out of this rut as youâd hoped. âAlpha, please,â you beg, but itâs useless. Heâs too far gone again. His mouth is sucking on your mating gland, and heâs growling and grunting as his knot swells and catches at your entrance.
âPlease donât do it, Alpha. Itâs just the rut. You donât want this⌠you donât want me, please!â you cry. But as his knot slips inside, locking you together, your head falls back on his shoulder, and when his teeth break your skin, you scream your release and lose the little self-control you had earlier.
Coming down from your high, you notice that Dean is still latched onto you, and you can feel blood dripping down your neck. The sudden rush of hormones and pheromones from the claim makes you reach another orgasm, and this time, you take the alpha with you. Grunting and growling, Deanâs release coats your walls, and you let the blackness take over.
When you come to, youâre on your side, and Dean is cleaning and soothing the wound on your neck with gentle licks and soft kisses. Youâre still locked together, and every twitch of his cock catches your G-spot and fills your womb with even more of his seed.
A brief thought that he couldâve gotten you pregnant crosses your mind, and you hope the fates arenât so cruel as to have this be when you get your wish of pups; not like this.
The last week finally catches up with you, and the lullaby of Deanâs whines and whimpers, combined with his soft kisses, lull you into a deep sleep.
The sunâs warmth on your face begins to wake you from sleep. Your muscles feel heavy, and Deanâs lips caress your back and shoulders.
âMorning, Omega,â he rasps behind you, sliding a warm hand over your hip, and a pang of dread settles in your stomach. Youâre tired, every muscle in your body is screaming at you, and your pussy is in agony from a week of rough pounding and knots courtesy of the alpha pulling you closer to his body. If heâs still not out of this rut, you donât think youâll survive another round.
âDonât worry,â Dean chuckles. âIâm not feral anymore, and the rut has gone.â
Youâre confused, wondering how he knew what you were thinking. You donât think you groaned. In fact, youâre pretty sure you didnât even move. Your body is too sore to even tense up.
Then you remember Dean claimed you and that he did it while in a feral rut.Â
As your whole world comes crashing down around you, you do the one thing youâd rather die than do in front of Dean.
Cry.
DEANâS POV
Devastation. Thatâs all he can feel radiating from the omega next to him. When he woke an hour ago, heâd been happier than ever. The second he claimed Y/N, there was a shift, and all felt right in the world.
He thoughtânaively, he now realisesâY/N would be happy. Itâs what she wanted. What she needed, but the sheer anguish from her tells a different story. The worst part of all this is the shame he feels for claiming her without her consent and the knowledge that now, sheâs stuck with him whether she wants to be or not.
âHey, sweetheart, itâs gonna be okay,â Dean tries to soothe her and presses his lips to her shoulder. âY/N, look at me, please?â She remains on her side, facing away from him and crying, and the alpha in him takes over. His omega is in distress, and he needs to fix it. âOmega, look at me!â he growls lowly, and watches as Y/N obeys his order and timidly rolls onto her back.
Deanâs jaw drops, and heâs disgusted with himself as he takes in her abused torso. There are a couple of bites and bruises on her back and shoulders, but itâs nothing compared to what covers her neck, breasts and stomach. Thereâs so much bruising that barely any skin has been left unblemished. As he scans further down her body, he can see the same damage over the tops of her thighs and between her legs.
âBaby girl, Iâm so sorry. Iââ Dean canât finish; he has no words for what he did to her. He immediately gets out of bed and fills the tub with hot water. Thereâs only so much he can do for her out here in the cabin, but the safe house is stocked with first aid supplies, medication and dry and tinned food.Â
When the tub is full, he shuts off the water and walks back into the bedroom, seeing Y/N still lying on her back and seemingly void of all emotion. Whether itâs on purpose to shut him out or sheâs in shock, Deanâs not sure.
Walking over, Dean lifts her from the bed and carries her into the bathroom. He lowers her into the hot water and bathes her gently, mumbling words of comfort, hoping she can hear him and that she can find it in her to forgive him.
Y/NâS POV
After tenderly bathing you, Dean left you to soak in the warm water a little longer, telling you there were clothes in the wardrobe and that heâd make something to eat.
âPlease eat with me, omega. You need to get your strength up, and we need to talk,â Dean had begged before he left, closing the door but not fully so he could still keep an eye on you.
He was right; you do need to talk. And eat. You feel weak and lightheaded and desperately in need of something to take away the pain thatâs pulsing through every inch of your body.
When the water has lost its warmth, you climb out and wrap yourself in a towel, avoiding the mirror in the corner. Deanâs reaction earlier is enough for you to know youâll burst into tears if you see it for yourself. And you canât bear to see his claim on your neck when it was given under duress.
Pulling clothes from the wardrobe, you choose the softest and biggest things you can find. You know from the smell that the sweats and t-shirt are Deanâs, but youâve always gotten comfort from his scent, and you suspect youâll get even more from it now.
Coming out of the bedroom, you follow the noise towards the main part of the cabin and find Dean spooning pasta into bowls in the kitchen.
âHow are you feeling, sweetheart?â he asks, stopping what heâs doing to give you his full attention.
âSore,â you chuckle, pulling out a stool. You hiss and wince, the throbbingâand not the good kindâbetween your legs getting worse for a few seconds as you sit.
âIâm sorry, Y/N. I didnât mean⌠I hate that I was so rough. That Iâve hurt you,â Dean says as he pushes a bowl and fork towards you.
âYou were feral, Dean. Itâs not your fault,â you reply, and you mean it. Itâs really not his fault.
âIt is, though, sweetheart. If I had taken the right suppressants, I wouldnât have gone feral, and I wouldnât have claimed you without your consent.â
âI knew what I was signing up for when I came here. Iâm just sorry youâre stuck with me,â you smile sadly. âAnd if you want to leave, I get it. I know Iâm not what you wantââ
âWould you stop saying that?â Dean interrupts. âI do want you. I have always wanted you. Iâm scared that tying you to me will put you in danger.â The desperation rolls from him in waves, and you know heâs telling you the truth. You can feel it. âI want you, Omega. I want this. I donât regret claiming you. I regret doing it against your will, and if you want to leave me⌠reject me⌠Itâs what I deserve, and Iâll let you walk out of here right now, but please stop saying that I donât want you, Y/N. Youâre all I want.â
The chemical bond you now share with Dean is overwhelming. He feels more deeply than he ever lets on, and regret over the non-consensual claim is putting it mildly. Heâs distraught over it, and his feelings are so strong that you can almost hear the thoughts in his head telling him heâs stupid and heâs fucked things up before itâs really started between you. You canât take it. You canât let him think you donât want this too.
âYouâre all I want too, Alpha. The reason I got so upset when I realised you could feel how I felt is because it was a rut claim, and weâd be stuck together and miserable and resentful, and I didnât want that for either of us, but I could never reject you, Dean. I love you too much.â
The relief that washes over him makes you smile, and because of your new bond, you know he knows every word is true.
âI love you, Y/N. Iâm sorry I couldnât admit it before, and Iâm sorry I didnât give you what you wanted sooner.â Dean slides off his stool and comes to your side with a tube of cream in his hand. âNow, let me see that claim. It needs something on it, sweetheart.â
You tilt your head to the side and pull the neck of the shirt down, exposing the angry, swollen bite mark. Dean gently covers the wound with the medicated cream, and you hiss at the sting.
âSorry, baby girl.â Dean winces, feeling your discomfort as clearly as you can. âNow, eat and then bed, Omega.â
âJust to sleep, right?â you ask, scrunching up your face and wriggling in your seat at the thought of him going anywhere near your pussy for at least a week. âNo sex?â
âNo sex,â Dean laughs. âYou need to rest, sweetheart, so just lots of cuddles and closeness and bonding and sleep.â
THE END

Promise Me | Part III
When he was sent out for war, Bucky made a promise to his lover that might just last through several lifetimes.
Navigation: Part I | Part II | Part III (end)
Words: 4.2k++
Pairing: 40s!bucky / eventually tfatws!bucky x female!reader
Warnings: angst but happy ending. The anticipation, the hesitation, yup it was real in this one. Not enough dialogue in my opinion but meh my brain was not braining. Bucky's scene before their official reunion.
P/S: Yeay, it's a wrap. Sorry for the delay guys. I'm still sick but feeling better, so that's a good news! This is the final part if the mini series, I hope you enjoy!

Louisiana, 2024 â New beginning
War after war, from one fight into another, Bucky finally had the chance to catch a breath for himself. With the Flagsmashers gone and Sam being the new Captain America just as Steve envisioned, there was a moment of peace for Bucky's tortured soul to finally rest.
He sat at the deck area of Sam's ship, watching the sun meets the ocean over the horizon, occasionally sipping on his probably fifth bottle of beer.
When he drowned himself in the memories of the events that happened these past few months, suddenly the tranquil of the sunset ahead of him doesn't interest him the least; not when a certain person had been occupying his mind.
Replaying all the twists and turns of his journey fighting those rogue group of super soldiers, one person had been but remained a mystery to him.
The Deathstalker.
It was the one puzzle piece that didn't seemed fit in the picture. As if she was plucked out entirely from a different story, a riddle that would lead him into another adventure beyond the unknown.
He still remembered the way her hands trembled against his face, tears pooling in her eyes that then fell into her mask as she muttered his name again and again.
Bucky gulped as his eyes loomed over hers, "Who are you?"
The Deathstalker seemed to be taken aback by his question. Her mutterings stopped and her eyes locked on his blue ones; there was hesitation in her gaze, or a contemplation of an answer that Bucky was dying to know.
"I-- i'm--" her words stumbled as her feet dragged backwards, putting some space between herself and Bucky.
Bucky's heart stammered in anticipation, he had a gut feeling that she wasn't just someone that he had crossed path with once or twice. He could tell they had some kind of a long history, a deeper connection; Where? When? He wasn't sure. He just knew it that there was something special between them, especially when she looked at him with such eyes.
But before she could give a definite answer, multiple groups of bounty hunters started to re-gather in their area. Zemo came in clutch with a car, picking up the injured Sam with the help of Sharon.
Bucky can hear Sharon's voice yelling out his name yet he didn't move an inch and within minutes they were surrounded by the hunters.
What was it that gave him such courage to court death just to hear her answer? Was it just purely out of curiosity or was it some kind of delusional hope that intrigued his soul?
Y/N looked around to assess their dire situation before gazing up at the taller. She knew this wasn't the best time for the truth and her hesitation only makes it worst.
But when, Bucky held out his hand towards her, "Come with us." there was a strong pull that made her wanted to just give in and take his hand. "Come with me."
And Bucky didn't know why he reached out for her, but it felt right. She glanced in between his hand and his pleading eyes, her own hand twitching, almost submitting to her desire but the last minute she decided to stand on her ground.
Y/N ended up turning her back and fled away, leaving her lover's hand hanging and his question unanswered.
Through the time that Bucky was deep in his memories, he may or may not have unintentionally bored his gaze towards Sarah's direction, which only triggered Sam into a protective brother that he is, "Don't flirt with my sister." He warned.
Bucky briefly scoffed and denied his accusations, "I'm not." He sipped on his bottle as he averted his gaze away.
The look on Sam's face seemed like he was trying to glare into Bucky's soul; he was skeptical with the his deflection. But the brunette only rolled his eyes in response as he spoke, "Seriously. I'm not interested." He continued before Sam couldn't interject, "Not that there's anything wrong with her.. it's just..."Â
Seeing Bucky's struggles to find an excuse, Sam curiously quirked, "It's just that you already have a girl in mind?" He suggested.
There was a hint of softness in Bucky's smile when he ran his thumb across the glossy sticker of the bottle, "I had a girl." He spoke dearly as his eyes diluted into another spiral of scattered memories of his past lover, "I had the best girl."
Since the truth that was unfolded in Madripoor, Y/N had been keeping tabs on Bucky. At first, she couldn't believe it. She had to put everything about the super soldier serum on hold, to uncover more of Bucky's survival.
As it turn out, he managed to survive the fall from the train back in 1945 and had been brainwashed into a lethal weapon for Hydra for years after that.
His identity had been a secret for decades but since the fall of Hydra a few years back, the whole world knew who the Winter Soldier was. However, the people in the underground world was much fond of his villain's name, rather than the name of a war hero when it comes to addressing him.
Therefore, the lack of use of his real name had been one of the reason why Y/N was not aware of his existence. Not to mention, when he made his first public appearance when the bombing at Washington D.C. happened, she was determined to leave anything related to her past life behind and was trying to live a new life away in Singapore.
Then, a few years after that, when she came back to New York during the first year of the blip, Bucky was unfortunately, one of the people who vanished.
But, those things doesn't matter anymore now that she knew he was alive. Her Bucky. Her James. He's alive. Y/N couldn't remember the last time she was this happy, this overjoyed. That night, she couldn't sleep very well; not when her heart was working overtime all through the night.
Ever since then, she had been lurking around Bucky and Sam most of the time. Besides, her own mission of making sure the super soldier serum doesn't fall into the wrong hands and to put an end to the Flagsmasher, Y/N was also there just to see Bucky.
She couldn't help it.
Imagine living a somewhat immortal life without a piece of your heart for decades. Withering to the fact that you can never see your lover, not in life nor in death; Or spending days and nights, missing and longing for his soul to be one with yours again.
And then suddenly discovering he was still alive.
Of course, she would use any excuse to see him every single day without fail. But at the same time, she didn't want to make things more complicated than it already was. With the crisis of the vigilante super soldiers, she didn't think it would be wise to reveal herself to Bucky anytime soon.
So, she stayed in the shadows instead, refuse to make herself known to Bucky. Whether as the Deathstalker or as Y/N.
Except for that one time that she decided to help him.
Bucky looked around the parking lot, trying to make a decision on which vehicle would be easiest for him to hijack. That was when he heard her signature robotic voice, "Hey, sarge!" She yelled.
He followed her voice upwards to see her feet dangling in the air, as she sat on the edge of the metal of the fire escape stairs. He hadn't seen her since their first encounter at Madripoor, "You..." Bucky whispered quietly.
Now that he thought about it, did she just call him by his title?
She titled her head to the side, "Do you require any assistance, sargent?" She asked nonchalantly as if they have been buddies for years.
Yup, she did used his title.Â
Bucky's signature frown only deepened when she insinuated a jest-like tone. He wasn't sure whether she was trying to appear friendly in order to help him or slow him down. So be safe, his defense went up when he straighten his back into a stance.
When Y/N saw how his guard changed, she decided to get straight to the point, "I didn't come all the way here to fight with you, James" she leaned as if it'll close the distance between them.
She wondered if her words trigger a memory in him; after all, she did use the similar sentence in 1943 when Steve rescued him from Hydra's captivity. But the lack of response from Bucky told her otherwise. Perhaps, it was too long of past for him to remember, or it wasn't significant enough for him.
Bucky's brows quirked when she yelled, "Heads up." and his hand rose up to catch whatever it was she threw down at him.
Y/N briefly titled her head forward as she spoke, "Far left. The black bike." In which Bucky briefly followed her directions, to indeed see a black bike parked at the spot.
Bucky wordlessly turned his head back and gaze up at her with a questioning look on his face. He couldn't see her behind that mask she was wearing but if he could, he would've see her smiling, "You need it more than I do."
It has been a few months since that night. And she was still lurking somewhere in the dark. Everywhere he goes, she will be right around the corner; watching, observing.
Even now, when she found herself standing on one of the boardwalk in Louisiana, near where Sam's boat resides. There was no denying that she was sort of being a creep, basically stalking Bucky from where she was standing.
From this distance, she could see that Bucky was having the time of his life entertaining the kids with his left arm; or maybe the kids were, when they compete each other on how long they can last hanging from the vibranium metal.
Y/N just had to smile seeing him happy like this. Her heart bloomed with warmth that she never thought she would ever had the chance feel again. Bucky looked as if he was finally at peace, and that made her doubt if it was a good idea to insert herself in his life now.
She believed that he deserve a happy ending. After all he had gone through all those years, he should be able to have the luxury of having a completely new life, a new beginning. Away from the past that are just filled with painful memories and dreadful suffering. To find love again and live a long happy life where she is nothing but a distant memory.
He deserve that.
But is that what she truly wanted?
Brooklyn, 2024 â Truth Untold
"That'll be $25, sir." The red-haired smiled as she handed Bucky his usual order. He paid accordingly as he took it off her hands and walked out of the cozy little shop at the corner of the busy city street.
His gloved hand gripped onto the stem of the bouquet, as his dark and tall silhouette slithered through the crowd. Everybody seemed to be entranced with whatever it was on the screen of their phones, while Bucky felt like he was out of place and time with arrangement of primroses in his hands.
The hustle bustle of the city slowly transitioned into a much calmer and quieter scenery. He walked passed the rusty, almost deteriorating entrance gate, nodding to the old ground keeper as he passed by. He knew he could get lost if he doesn't keep his focus, yet his eyes remained on the petals of the flowers, gambling his trust in his feet to bring him to the only spot they recognized.
"Hey, doll." Bucky greeted, gripping on the stem a little tighter as he read the name of his lover on the worn-looking headstone. Months of cleaning and tending her grave, it still looked grey and sombre compared to when he first visited; but that tends to happen to a grave is been left out since the 70's.
He lowered into a crouching position and placed the flowers in front of the headstone, "I'm sorry I've been missing some weeks on ya. Duty calls." Bucky knew that wasn't a good excuse to miss their dates but the Flagsmashers events had caused him to skip this little Tuesday routine of his.
As depressing it might sound, he missed coming here.
Besides going to therapy, this has been the only place where Bucky talks the most about his feelings. Though it might be completely a one-sided conversation, but he could spend hours talking to her. Telling her anything and everything that's been going on in that pretty head of his. No matter how scrambled and messy it was up there.
Bucky traced his fingers to the words engraved in the stone; it read 'Beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.' Each title were delightful as they were but then again, she could've been 'a lovely wife' and 'a great mother', but she didn't.
"Why didn't you?" Bucky whispered quietly. "I just know that men must've been thrilled chasing after you, begging on their knees for your hand." He chuckled as he remembered all those times when his friends would ogle over her whenever he brought her out for a dance, "And you'd be a wonderful mother too." Knowing her gentle nature and how the kids in the hospital adored her, he just knew she would be.
His heart pierced painfully to think that she might have grown old alone, and died without family of her own. "You should've live a happy life, y/n. Marry a good man, build a family." Tears that pooled started to drip from the corner of his eyes, each tore an aching sob from his throat, "And I wished I could've be there with you."
It wasn't rare for Bucky to cry during his visits to Y/N's grave. He is the most vulnerable when he's with her; even in death, being around her has been comforting for his soul.
Y/N could clearly hear the sound of his sniffles when she stood closer to him like this. She spend day after day, gathering the courage and figuring out what to say if she ever confronted Bucky.
But in the end, the fact that Bucky was just within her reach, living, breathing; it broke whatever plan she had in her mind.
It still felt like a dream. A lucid one.
Bucky knew that was someone standing behind him; but he felt no sorts of vendetta from the person and if they mean him any harm, they would've done it sooner. He roughly stroke his palm across his face in effort to hide the tears streaks away and took a deep breath as he stood on his feet.
Whoever he had in mind, well it was definitely not that person who was standing behind him right now. It totally caught him off guard when he saw the Deathstalker standing in front of him instead of any other familiar faces.
Though her identity was still hidden, but instead of her combat attire, she was in a much comfortable clothes. Casual sneakers, basic jeans, an oversize sweater, its hood pulled over her head and a soft cloth mask covering her lower face.
Despite the change of style, her eyes were still the same. Big, bright and Bucky could only describe them to be filled with curiosity and concern as they looked up at him. He could feel the burn from the drag of her gaze on each part of his features; the softness of his lips, the red of his nose and especially the puffiness of his eyes.
He broke the silence when he started the conversation, "I assume that you're not going to fight me." He said, "At least you don't look like you're equipped for it..." Bucky pointed out the obvious.
Y/N took a few seconds of silent blinking before she responded with a shook of her head.
The lack of verbal response somehow caused him to feel slightly awkward. Rubbing the back on his neck, Bucky titled his head to the side, "So... you're here for your bike?" He asked. He still hold on to the bike that she lend to him, though it was back at his place, if that's what she wanted.
Her eyes curved into a pair of crescent moons, a side effect of a smile that Bucky couldn't see. She shook her head again to deny his speculation.
Bucky pointed out at the graveyard around them when he asked, "Uhh...are you here for a visit too?" He doubt it but it was worth to try.
Y/N looked over his shoulder, reading the familiar name engraved on the headstone behind him, before locking her eyes back to his. She shook her head yet again.
Bucky was starting to get why Sam felt annoyed with his staring problem now that he had first hand experience. Though she wasn't glaring at him like Bucky would at Sam, but still, she was staring at him most of the time. And the lack of words made it more noticeable. "You don't talk much do you?" He asked, there was a hint of passive-aggressive in his tone.
And Y/N recognized that tone anywhere. She was surprised that that part of him hasn't change since the 40's. She remembered how Bucky would use this tone whenever he was irritated but he didn't want to be a jerk and yell out his frustration.
The fact that she still managed to notice this little quirks of his after all these years made her chuckle amusingly. There wasn't a voice changer now, it was just her voice; raw and unfiltered. And even if it was muffled behind the cloth of her mask, her laugh sounded awfully familiar to Bucky.
It sounded pretty and soft, that it tickled something in deep within his chest but not enough to trigger any memory from his subconscious, "Then, what are you doing here?" He asked curiously.
It took a moment of blinking silence before Y/N grabbed onto the fabric of her hood; she pulled it back and it revealed her long, slightly wavy hair . Bucky watched intently as her index finger slipped into the tiny slot at the side of her nose, hooking it on the fabric of her mask.
And those mere seconds of hesitation triggered the tears to form in her eyes. Her heart beating fast, tiredlessly pumping blood through the veins of her body yet her fingers still runs cold with fear.
Between the thumping sound of her own heartbeat, she might have second guessed her own decision of revealing her identity. Thinking that maybe it was best to leave the truth untold. Because what if Bucky refused to believe her?
It would truly destroy her; this time, beyond repair.
Y/N briefly closed her eyes as she breathed in, she then pulled the mask down to reveal her face. The crack in her voice betrayed the smile that curved on her trembling lips, "I'm here for you." She finally spoke.
The upward movement of muscle around her cheeks pushed her tears out, letting it flow from the corner of her eyes. She didn't dare to look at him in the face for too long, so her eyes casted downwards to where her feet dug the ground.
Decades passed and it might have been several lifetimes for Y/N since the 40's but it only felt like it was yesterday for Bucky. Especially when he had lived many years of his life to either be awake for the Winter Soldier or asleep in the freezing chambers.
All of which were just scattered of loose memories to him now. It haunted him, yes. But sometimes he couldn't tell if it was just a series of nightmares or actual reality. Thus, he tends to feel as if he had lost his sense of time. That is why he always felt out of place in the modern society.
Inside, he felt like he was still the man he was in the 40's; just thrusted forward in time. And since he started to tap into the memories of himself in those olden times, it made him felt like it hasn't been that long for Bucky since he last saw her.
Yes, he felt like it was just short distance of time but his soul certainly didn't feel the same. It had been deprived of its other half for far too long.
All the images of their time together flashed rapidly through his mind; every touch, every kiss, every laughter and even every tears they ever shared, all came rushing in like untamed waves crashing to the shore.
The beautiful strings of chaos in his head hadn't calm the slightest, in fact it pushed Bucky to move forward; to catch her silhouette before it could disappear on him like the way it always does in his dreams.
Y/N's vision was blocked when Bucky smushed her face to his chest, trapping her in an unbreakable embrace as he whispered her name, "y/n?"
Was he talking to her or was he talking to himself? Because he didn't stop muttering her name as if it was some sort of a ritual chanting.
Bucky's hand briefly roamed her body from the back of her head, barely passing her shoulders, across the spine and then folded around her waist, drawing her in; impossibly closer.
That was when she felt his body shake; much like herself, Bucky was crying for the lost time that they will never make back, for the pieces of hearts broken in those decades that they lived without one another.
Bucky had witness some unbelievable things throughout his long life on this earth; lots of mind-boggling creation of man-made technology, actual magic and sorcerers, aliens and literal Gods.
He should know that nothing is impossible. Yet, holding Y/N in his arms felt unbelievably surreal to him.
Before she managed to draw in the air, her body felt the need to melt into his form. She can feel his firm grasp around her frame, and feel how rapid his heart beating on her cheek.
At that moment, she couldn't help but to find resemblance of him to his past habits; he way he holds her, how his fingers would occasionally dance across her body, or how his nose would nudge into her hair.
Even his scent remained the same. At least the essence of it were unchanged.
Being in his arms reminded her of the whispers of promises Bucky made to her, "You promised to come home." Y/N tried to steady her breath, "You promised to come back to me."
Bucky pulled her head back, cradling her face in the contrast of his hands; one was once warm and another that felt familiar. He desperately wiped her tears away with his thumbs, almost too rough of a caress but surprisingly it brought more relief than pain to her.
Even in the sorrow and grief, anger managed to slipped through when she growled, "You dickhead, you left me behind." Though it was weak, her punches still hits the target perfectly.
Repeatedly slamming her tiny fists on his sturdy chest. The chest that were caged with heavy remorse and regret. And there wasn't really anything he could say to sooth the pain that she felt when he died.
Bucky knew that, but he had to say something, anything, "I-doll, I'm so sorry..." He was drowning her with his eyes, flooding her heart with his tears as his hand ran through her hair. Soft as he remembered it to be; at least compared from the lucid dreams she was starring in.
"Shhh!" Y/N hushed him quickly, "Just please..." her breath shuddered when she inhaled.
She didn't spend most of her lifetimes to hear an apology, not from him. If anything, he should swear on his life to never leave again, to stay this time around and always. She tugged him closer, lips hovering over each other's, just one nudge away to finally get the sweet taste of it, "...never again."
And when he kissed her, it tastes of her tears. But it was beyond fulfilling. Like their lost soul were finally being able to touch again. The gentle need, the tender crave of his kiss was enough to forge her trust back into its former glory.
And all of the sudden Bucky felt like he was drowning again; like he was desperate to breathe and she was the air. He kissed her again, and again, and again. As if he needed the taste of her lips to survive the waves; like she was his lighthouse in dark.
When they finally set apart, she wanted to speak but all she can do was croak, "Don't leave me, not again." Bucky's lips curved into a loving smile and he nods once. He folded her frame in his arms, tightly and closely; his whisper was ever-so-soft when he promised, "Never."
End.

Pt2 of rewind
your wish is my command đââď¸ hope you enjoy :)
rewind part 2 - paul x reader
The drive home was silent as Paul drove on the road. Your arms were crossed, silently looking out the window. You felt embarrassed, you felt too seen, and you didnât like it at all. Paul tried to kiss you when you both made it in the house but you blatantly refused. His hurt facial expression almost made you crumble but thatâs how you felt when the private moment between you two was shown to a group of individuals.
Paul was pissed. He was mostly pissed at himself for allowing his thoughts to leak out. He usually did good by blocking out his thoughts from his pack brothers. They ruined it for him. You didnât even want to cuddle when nighttime fell.
âFucking idiots.â Paul venomously cursed them in their head and couldnât wait until patrol the next day.
Paul purposely came late. He tried his best to mend whatever mood you were in but you played him off and went to work. Sam was there, agitated and irritated by Paulâs tardiness.
âYou have to be on time. You know this.â he says to him.
Paul doesnât even wait before he attacks him first. Snarling and biting at his throat. Sam couldnât process the fight with Paulâs thoughts rewinding the moments of his imprint crying and the other imprints throwing accusations at you. Jared tried to move him off of Sam, and Paulâs anger only transferred to Jared.
âPaul, chill out!â Sam orders, trying not to let it go too far. Paul snarled, upset that he has to submit to such orders.
âI fucking hate all of you!â Paul says in retaliation, circling around them menacingly, snapping his jaw at them all. He wanted to fight all of them.
âIt was an accident. Her name just slipped.â Jacob says, trying to have some type of understanding.
âWhat a bullshit excuse.â Leah says, showing her sharp teeth, to back Paul up.
âFuck this.â Paul says and phases out before he could hear the order. As he walks back home, he hears a long howl coming from a far distance. He decides to go where the noise took place. He peered down at the confused, lone wolf. He phases in, trying to let him know that he's safe.
"What's your name?" Paul asks the new wolf that's walking in circles, breaking their panicked thoughts.
"Oh God, I can hear voices in my head?" it answered back, not even noticing Paul's wolf there with him.
"You're safe. Look, you're safe." Paul says and nudges the newly transformed wolf. The wolf calms down a bit and meekly speaks his name. Paul leads them back to the pack, making all of the pack surprised.
Everybody introduces themselves, leading the new wolf back to Sam's place. They collectively coach the new wolf on how to return back to his human form. Sam grabs the pair of scissors and sits him in a chair.
The boy looks at the scissors in such horror, looking bug eyed at Sam. "What are you doing?" he asks.
"I have to, or else your fur will be matted every time you shift." Sam explains.
"I'll deal with washing it, just please." he whispers. Sam sets the scissors down and Emily walks in, taking a double take at the boy sitting at the table.
"Hey, Em. Did you cook anything?" Sam asks as he moves in to embrace her but she moves away, fixing her something to drink. "Nope." she answers back and all of the boy's faces fall. Leah snickers at this. Emily rewards the new boy with a smile, "You must be hungry." she coos at him. The boy softens up at Emily's good nature and nods.
"Weâre hungry too!" Quil says, looking in disbelief at the displayed favoritism.
"Hungry? Hmm, I would've thought thirsty." Emily says and Leah cackles again, enjoying every moment of their disappointment. Leah already ate before patrol.
The boy eats Emily's food without shame, she only made enough for him.
Sam gets up, "I guess we'll go to a diner instead."
"You do just that." Emily says sweetly.
Emily calls all of you to let you know that there's a new wolf.
"Perfect." you say to her.
A beach day of course happened and you all got to meet him. He wasn't a bad looking guy, his long beautiful hair that he kept was a bonus as well. You introduced yourself, knowing for sure that he would get the same lovesick eyes that every other guy has gotten. You make sure to sit next to him, smiling at him and looking him deeply in the eye. The dude was whipped. Paul was pissed. He kept giving you hints to speak alone but you acted completely oblivious.
The new wolf accepted your invitation to go swimming in the ocean, you walked slowly on the sand towards the water and he didn't mind. He got to check you out. You made sure to turn around and give him a smile that made him almost drop to his knees.
"Do you have a boyfriend?" he asks, as he's close to you when the water is knee deep. You were driving him wild, savoring the moments of you giving him this much attention. You shrug and give an innocent smile as you cup some water in your hands and let it pour over your body. He almost drooled.
"Yeah, and it's me." Paul's loud, deep voice says and it almost made both of you jump, you didn't notice him there, but you were glad he heard everything. Paul gives you an angry look but you didn't pay it any mind.
Taking the boy's arm, leading him further into the water. The guy was hypnotized.
Back on shore after the splashing session with you, Jacob's imprint is holding up a bottle of sunscreen. "Do you mind putting some on my back please?" she asks the new wolf, batting her eyelashes. Jacob looks over, getting angrier by the second as the boy's hands lather the sunscreen over his imprint's back.
"I love how gentle you are. Jacob is way too rough." she says and the guy beams at the compliment.
"Do you guys do cliff diving at all?" he asks all of the girls that are now huddled around him, making conversation with him. You all nod. He's enjoying every moment. The pack on the other hand is not. If they were cartoons, visible steam would come out of their ears.
At the cliffs, they watch their imprints cliff dive with the new wolf. Fearful that he will steal all of your hearts. They stomp to where everybody is.
"Can you hold my hand? I'm a bit afraid of heights." Kim says.
"How about this, I can put you on my back." he offers and Kim's eyes light up at the suggestion.
Jared watches as Kim is hanging onto him tightly, laughing and whooping in the air.
Emily promises lunch as you all walk back to her house. The pack is darting dirty looks at their new pack brother's back.
"I wish I knew how to braid my hair." the new wolf says as he ruffles his dripping wet hair that hangs around his face frame.
"I do." Emily says and she has him sitting between her legs as she sits on the couch and makes two plaits for him. Sam had to control his shaking, watching Emily run her fingers through his hair.
"We should've went skinny dipping." you say to the new pack brother as he blushes. You both were eating a sandwich at the table. You hear a growl and you turn around to see Paul, ready to pounce at any given second.
"Take it outside." Emily warns him.
"Yeah, we need to talk." he says to you, not caring you're not done with your food.
"We can talk here."
"Why would you say something like that?"
"I don't know, the rest of the pack has seen me naked. I figured he might as well get a good look while it's on my terms, before you leak out another moment." you say coldly, Paul's face softens up.
"That's not right. It was an accident." Jacob goes on to say.
You shake your head, "What's not right is saying my name while having sex with your own imprints. That's not right. You all did that." you say, giving the pack members dirty looks.
"We're sorry, Y/N." Sam says to you.
"I think it would be better if you said sorry to Emily instead." the new wolf points out.
Sam growls and steps towards him, "I think it would be better if you stay out of it."
"Leave him alone. He's right." Kim says with her hands on his shoulders.
Knowing that what they did was wrong on so many levels, each wolf pulled their imprints to the side for a private talk.
"I don't love Y/N, Emily. I love you. You're the love of my life and I fucked up. Bad," he says to her, "I'm making it up to you everyday. In fact, you don't have to cook for the pack for a while. I will do it from now on."
Emily looks up at him with a smirk, "Deal."
âTheres no one else I would rather be with other than with you Kim. Iâm so sorry about what I did. I understand if you donât forgive me.â Jared says to Kim sincerely.
âWhy did you say her name?â Kim asks quietly.
âIt was a stupid move. Honest. I wish I could rewind and take it back. I hurt you so bad and I wish Iâve never done it.â he says looking down.
âAm I really that rough?â Jacob asks his imprint.
âYou were rough with my heart. You said her name. I donât know if I can forgive you.â she answers back.
âItâs okay if you donât. I donât want you to ever experience that ever again.â he says to her and takes her hands.
âIm sorry that those fuckers said your name. Iâm sorry that I accidentally thought about our intimacy. You donât have to seek another man.â Paul says looking up at you. You look down on him with your arms cross, he was down on his knees.
âIâll help you out. We canât be intimate for a while.â you tell him and his heart shatters through his eyes. He slowly rises, trying to see if you would break. You didnât. He nods, hangs his head, accepting his punishment.

Unhinged nsfw Sam headcanon because unf
(this is in relation to this x older Sam/Sebastian scenario, but works for Sam/Femme or Male or NB Farmer as well, so I'm keeping it neutral)
* SAM IS A PLEASURE DOM * and here's my case study: he came around realizing it following one instance when his partner during sex was like "slap me and spit in my mouth" and his honest reaction was "đĽşđĽşđĽşđĽşđĽş baby I would never???" Because he really is a big sweet puppy.
But.
He reeeally wants to please his lover, therefore he starts doing his research, and finds out that the kink world is vast and varied, and, lo and behold, discovers the perfect compromise. A pleasure dom uses a very different, softer, approach, with the ultimate goal to grant absolute pleasure and satisfaction, to know better than them even, rather than assert dominance or degrade their partner. It's no less commanding in the sense that it's a role that controls the partner's ability to come and experience pleasure, and it requires a lot of attention and care. A pleasure dom guides the experience based on a deep, intimate, knowledge and understanding of the partner's desires, characteristics and traumas, in order to cater to all of them and create the ultimate fulfilling experience, doing everything in their power to do so.
He would be like: " Oh you want me to make you cry? Ok, I'll leave you shaking with a face full of tears and drool because I made you orgasm so many times your limbs and crotch have gone numb. You think you deserve to be called a dirty whore in order to come? Then I'll fuck you deep and slow in front of a mirror, telling you how beautiful and perfect you are and forcing you to look at us and agree out loud for me, because you can be so good, I know that. You want to be in pain and submit? Then I'll force you to stay put while I finger you and give you the best oral of your life and edge you until, once you finally come, your orgasm is so powerful you go stupid, and then keep going until you are overstimulated. " and so on
The spanking, the bites and the scratches would not be inflicted continuously to hurt and break but would be pondered and focused to make the partner's sensations come alive, so raw, vulnerable and beautiful.
Sam would then find he definitely enjoys it too.

Le Morte d'Arthur Masterlist
âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸
The midterm pressure is now properly underway. With tests nearly everyday this week, a rigid filming schedule, work, and taking care of your mom, youâre on the edge of being worn completely thin.Â
Not to mention, youâre awfully distracted these days.Â
Filming has continued as normal. And you finally tackled that scene with Sam just weeks ago, and it went perfectly. Josh had a visionâ to show the first fully intimate moment between the secret lovers. The first time their bodies become entangled in their heated passion. The âmost significant image of the film in its entirety,â as Josh had put it.Â
Youâd been scared.Â
But after the kiss you shared with Sam, the one that moved far beyond the legendary characters you were portraying, the scene was performed to utter perfection. It was seamless; it felt completely natural.Â
Something ignited within once you put the costume on; something youâve never felt before. A new kind of assured confidence in your body that has never once exuded from you. Your body that youâve hated since your first cognitive memory, the body that youâve opted to shield with oversized clothes to hide yourself beneath their stitched fabrics.Â
But, something happened.
After draping the thin lace over your frame, you were no longer you. You became a queen with a body worthy of being desired.Â
Josh and Malachi knew just what they were doing when they chose that (extremely erotic) dress.Â
For once, instead of being ashamed of your skin, you were fucking proud of it. You looked goddamn good.
And by the way Jake had been frozen solid in the door frame with his eyes locked on your exposed figure, youâd say he thought so, too.Â
Youâd half expected him to drop to his knees right then and there, to fully submit and hand himself over to your will. And he probably would have, had it not been for Nat physically throwing him out of the way. (Had you not been so utterly turned on in the moment, you probably would have busted out laughing at the sight.)
The scene was filmed the very next day (with tattoo makeup, of course) and you used that exact heated tension within you to perform your very best.Â
When Sam saw you in the gown, his reaction was much the same as Jakeâs. He was entirely transfixed by you; his eyes never diverting from your body. Not even once.Â
You had belatedly decided to forgo nipple pasties, much to Natalia's surprise. There was something about the way you felt, with your breasts still hidden, but your buds peaking through the thin fabric. In a weird sense, it made you feel even more in control of your body.Â
And the way Jake looked at themâŚ
You couldnât get his lust blown eyes out of your mind. He was, inadvertently, the reason why you felt so self assured during that scene, why you were able to give Sam such a heated performance⌠even if only a little. You had to credit his reaction for the help it had given you. It had been what your brain kept going back to time and again, anytime you swept the lace over your body. It was him who had helped you to have this overwhelming, new confidence when wearing the revealing piece.
(And youâd never admit it to anyone, but every time you put the costume on, you only ever thought of Jake. Not even his initial reactionâjust him. When you felt sexy, he came to mind. And the thought of him alone helped your nipples to be prettily peaked for every intimate scene Josh would shoot.)
But Sam. Sam is the one who actually uses his words to reassure any unsureness you may have every single day.Â
Sam is the good one. The sweet one. The brother who never fails to put a smile on your face.
âY/nâŚholy fuck.â He had said as you met him on set the first day youâd worn it.
And fuck, heâd looked damn good himself. No shirt, tight satin pants of the purest white. His hair was fixed to look disheveled and tangled, framing his features and giving him a look of pure sex ridden lust.Â
As heavy as the kissing scene had been, this one was levels heavier.Â
According to the script, you were meant to be laid out on a bed of red satin. You, sprawled out before him, and he on his feet at the foot of the bed, admiring the vision that is the ever lasciviousness Queen Guiniverre. (The vision of you.)Â
And admire you he absolutely did.Â
With the same look his brother gave you the night before, sending flutters to your heart and a pulse to your core. You envisioned Jake, but you saw Sam.Â
These two have entirely consumed your every thought. Sam has been in communication with you nearly every day, even outside of filming.
He conned you into giving him your number (not that it took much convincing) and he texts you, even calls you, multiple times a day.Â
Just innocent small talk, usually. Something little will make him think of you and heâll send a quick message to tell you what it was. Sometimes heâll send a joke or two that will force a laugh out of you, along with an eye roll. However there have been a few times that heâs taken it upon himself to make sure you know just how much fun heâs having with you on this film, that he knows his body sometimes speaks his infatuation with you louder than his words ever could.Â
And complain you will not. Heâs a fucking dream, the sweestest man youâve ever encountered. And so outlandishly beautiful.Â
It would be strange for you to not develop feelings for him, especially given just how close and personal the two of you have become during filming.Â
But,
Jake.Â
He wrapped you into all of this. He showed you a side of him that youâve yet to see since. You couldnât deny him, although you had every reason to.Â
Itâs like he only wanted you to keep his promise to his twin of helping him find someone to play opposite of him (Sam, mostly, of which he clearly didnât realize) and he only did so because youâre partners in this blessed project. Not because of who you are.Â
He buttered you up, to convince you to say yes, and that was the end of it.Â
Then, he went right back to his asshole ways.Â
Thatâs why for the life of you, you canât fathom the idea that youâve developed much stronger feelings for him than for Sam. (Who is, obviously, the far better candidate.)
And Sam is the one who gives you the attention you deserve.
But fuck.Â
The way Jake stared at you in that costume. And the way he didnât take his fierce eyes off of you during the filming of your scene in that gown.
His jaw clenching with every kiss shared between you and Sam, his fists bunching up with each touch that connected your bodies. You heard deep, drawn signs coming from him when Sam caressed you. Furious sighs from flared nostrils.Â
He ended up storming out mid scene, slamming the door so loud you all nearly jumped out of your skin. Thanks to that, you had to redo certain parts of the scene. Sam had made a joke about how he âwasnât upsetâ to have to do it more than once. (And you werenât, either.)
But not having Jake in the room made it slightly more difficult to put yourself back in the mood. His presence alone, the deep breaths filling his lungs, his stare casted on you each time you glanced his wayâ that was plenty of inspiration to perform your sexiest.Â
But without him there, all you could do was picture him in your mind. Which you did with no problem. But it just wasnât the same without his body in the same room as yours.
Before you left that night, you heard yet another fight commence between the twins.
âYou shouldâve told me it would be like this,â Jake fumed.
âI abso-fucking-lutely did, Jake. You just donât listen worth a single shit.âÂ
Jake slammed his fist on the kitchen counter, âI helped you write the goddamn script and those scenes were not in there. You know that for a fucking fact.â
âOkayâ so I took a little creative liberty and added a few things. I am, after all, the director for god's sake. I think Iâve earned the right. But you knew the plot, Jake. Donât act like you didnât,â Josh spouted.Â
Youâd gone to walk out the door before more was said. You felt guilty for listening, them both under the impression that youâd left.Â
But youâd heard something more that kept you from fully shutting the front door on your way out.Â
Sam was apparently in on this argument, too. And youâd overheard some rather interesting things regarding youâ some things you havenât been able to let go of since.Â
âJust admit it, Jakey boy. You thought you would be the one enjoying all these scenes with y/n. Thatâs why you asked her to join the cast, isnât it? Youâre just pissed that I get to share these moments with her and not you.âÂ
Hearing those words come out of Sam's mouth was something you were not prepared for in the slightest.
You needed to just close the door and leave, to stop listening in on this conversation that you were most definitely not meant to hear.
But after hearing that, you just couldnât bring yourself to take a single step. You had to hear Jakeâs response.Â
âThatâs true isnât it, Jake.â Josh agreed. âThatâs why youâre all out of sorts with this whole thing.â
âFirst of all,â Jake raised his voice with yet another loud crack against the granite countertop, (His fist mustâve fucking hurt like hell that night) âI only asked her because I had to. We were assigned this ridiculous project together and I was not about to work on something alone with her.â
âŚthat was a fucking blow to the heart.
âSecondly, Sam, I donât give a fuck one about your special little scenes with her. What Iâm pissed about is that youâve made this entire plot about fucking, Josh. That is not the only goddamn thing that happens in the original texts.â
He did make a solid point there. But from everything heâd told you about the plot before you agreed, (which wasnât much, if youâre being honest) that was the whole point of the film. At least to show their adulterous human desire, that their love for one another wasnât a strong enough force that others couldnât break their way through.
âJesus, Josh.â You heard footsteps coming closer to where you were hidden, so you quickly made your way out the door to conceal yourself. Before fully closing it, you heard Jake say, âI donât want to be part of a fucking x-rated film. That isnât what I signed up for. And youâve basically taken everything Iâve helped you with and thrown it in the trash. Why did you even ask me to help if you didnât want to use me for anything other than your precious fucking Arthur that youâre ruining with these worthless rags you call costumes?âÂ
You quietly padded your way to the car as you heard Jake coming closer to the door. You felt you had heard enough, and you werenât sure if you could mentally handle hearing much more.Â
As you drove home that night, your car squeaking and rattling its way through the middle of Detroit, the sound of Jakeâs words in your mind were far louder than that of your beat down Firebird.Â
âI only asked her because I had toâŚI was not about to work on something alone with her.â
You couldnât control the stray tears that fell down your cheeks. Youâd always known that was the only reason he asked you, but hearing him say itâŚwas something else entirely.Â
At that point, youâd decided that youâre not doing this for Jake anymore. Not even for the sake of your class.Â
You know itâll get a good grade. Thatâs no longer a worry of yours.Â
No; Youâre doing it for the friends youâve made in the process of this goddamn thing that you would regret doing if it werenât for them.Â
They way Jakeâs family has treated you, especially in comparison to how he has treated youâŚyouâre only sticking it out for them. Fuck Jake and his shit attitude that heâs given you since the first moment he met you.Â
âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸
You dramatically set your cold brew on the plastic table, throw your bag on the sticky floor and plant your ass so hard in the metal chair youâre sure itâll be purple in a few hours.Â
Elbows resting on the table, you let your head fall in your hands as you let out a long sigh.
âThat good, huh?â Nat questions.
You peak at her through your fingers, taking in her almost apologetic smile. âIâve not scored anything above seventy percent on a single midterm. And I still have one more to go.âÂ
True to her character, she pulls your hand away from your face. Sheâs told you before that she likes to see your full face when she talks to youâ just another reason, that even in the short time youâve known her, sheâs been the best friend youâve ever had.Â
âAnd what is wrong with that, might I ask? Seventy percent is a C. And last I checked, thatâs a passing grade,â she says with her slim fingers still held tight to your wrist.
You move your other hand away from your face as it falls limp into your lap. âI didnât move over fourteen hours away to go to the school Iâve dreamt about since I was a child to make Câs, Nat. I want to excel. I want to make the dean's list. I want to leave my mark. I wonât be doing any of that with anything less than all Aâs on my transcripts.â
She just smiles at you and softly shakes her head, a few perfect ringlets falling from her silken scarf.
âYou will make your mark with or without a perfect 4.0, y/n. Your life is more valuable than a silly cumulative number that isnât reflective of the person that you are.â She lays your hand down on the table with a soft pat against the back of it, her long acrylics leaving the gentlest, comforting scratches. âYou have to stop being so hard on yourself, babe.âÂ
Sheâs absolutely right, and you know it. In the grand scheme, grades donât matter as long as youâve passed. But dammitâ thatâs just not enough for you. You canât, you wonât accept anything lower than an A.Â
You have to prove it to everyone who said youâd never make it. Everyone from your tiny hometown, everyone in this city who expects you to fail.
Everyone. Even your father who left you and your mom when things were at their outright worst. The man who cared more about his own well-being than that of you and your disabled, ill mom. You have to defy the standard, beat the odds. You refuse to become merely a product of your shitty situation.Â
You have to show him. Show him that youâre worth more than he thought you were. That you can do just fine taking care of your mom and yourself. Without him.Â
âIt does matter, Nat. If I donât do well now, Iâll never get accepted into a grad school and if that doesnât happen, all of my hard work has been for nothing. Iâve proved fucking nothing.â
The sternness in your voice causes her to withdraw her hand from yours and sit herself all the way back in her chair, arms crossed in a state of defiance. âWho the hell do you need to prove yourself to? Why do you care so much about what other people think when Iâm sitting right here trying to convince you that you donât need to do that?â Her voice matches your tone perfectly, with seriousness and irritation present in her inflection. (Perhaps a bit more than you had anticipated. Sheâs passionate, you canât deny that for a second.)
You pause for a moment, taking in the vast realization that youâve never gotten that personal with Natalia on your behalf. She knows of your struggles with your body, and sheâs done everything in her power to make you see yourself the way she sees you ever since you opened up to her.
She knows where you live as sheâs had to pick you up and drop you off a few times for filming, so youâre sure she realizes that you live in a complex for low income, disabled tenants. She knows you leave and come back periodically if filming runs a little late, unbeknownst to her that itâs to take care of your ailing mom. But not once has she ever pried with a wandering mind. Sheâs been waiting for you to tell her.Â
Talking about these things is just something youâre not keen on doing. It presents an awful lot about you that you wish you couldâve left in Oklahoma.Â
Itâs just hard.Â
And itâs hard to know who you can and canât trust, who will take advantage of you and who wonât.
But as far as Natalia goes, youâre certain you could tell her just about anything and sheâd be the last person to use it against you. But that doesnât make it any easier to say everything out loud.Â
Suddenly, she stands up from her chair, the sound of the metal legs against the tile floor sending a shiver throughout your body. âW-where are you going?â
âCome on,â she responds, swigging down whatâs left of her coffee. âWeâre going to my car.âÂ
Instead of arguing, you stand up with her and gather up your things, following her as she takes quick strides towards the glass doors.Â
âWhy are we going to your car, again?â you ask.
âSo you can tell me what youâre not telling me.âÂ
At first, youâre a bit confused as to why sheâd prefer to go to her car to talk. But as you open her passenger door, you remember that car talks are always the best place for deep, emotional conversations to happen. Thatâs exactly what she wants from you, and as soon as you take residence on the black leather of her Escalade, you feel the unrelenting urge to spill it all.Â
She slams the car door before adjusting body so sheâs facing you. She rests her elbow on the center console, placing her face in the palm of her hand as she scans you with her chocolate eyes, waiting for you to speak.Â
âItâs justâŚâ you sigh deeply from your chest before you begin telling her everything. âIâm the sole provider now. My mom isnât much longer for this earth,â The sting in your heart upon hearing yourself say those words feels like an electric shock to your system. Speaking them feels like pure bile leaving your mouth. But itâs true. And not saying it doesnât make it not true. âSo itâs up to me to take care of her. She doesnât have anyone else.âÂ
Natâs eyes soften at your vulnerability. Where they were once inquisitive, theyâre now full of warmth and realization.
âI canât fail her by failing myself. My education is just as important to her as it is to me. She didnât even question it when I told her I wanted to come here for school. She showed me nothing but support, even coming with me when it was most definitely too dangerous for her to make the move. She did it anywayâ she wanted to do it. She wants to see my education through as much as I do, and Iâll be goddamned if she doesnât.â
âIs that why you go home so often? Why you canât always stay very late for things?â she asks with a timid, sweet voice that calms your spirit a bit.
âI have to take care of her. Make her dinner, sort out her medications, make sure her oxygen tank is well tended. Iâm terrified to be away from her, Nat. But she insists that I still live my life. I feel like Iâd be doing her a disservice if I wasnât, you know? But my biggest fear is that Iâll come home and sheâll be goneâŚand I wasnât there to save her.âÂ
âShit, y/n,â she says, hardly above a whisper. âI hate that thereâs so much pressure on you, girl. What about a live-in nurse? Or home health? Is that something you could do?â
âHer insurance wonât cover a live-in, unfortunately. And thereâs no way in hell we could ever afford one on my paychecks alone. Her disability plan claims she doesnât need home health, and that is something I just donât understand,â you respond.Â
âDo you have any other family that could step in and help? What about your dad, where is he?â
You havenât spoken of your dad since he left. Youâve hardly given him a single thought, even. The move was another way of purging him from your life completelyâ leaving the home you had once shared with him, getting rid of all of the stained memories once and for all.Â
You know that deep down there are plenty of happy memories of him somewhere, buried, in your psyche. But after the way he just up and left you and your mom as soon as her diagnosis was confirmed, the way he left in the middle of the night with no warning and leaving you to manage it all yourself, itâs hard to muster up a single pleasant feeling towards him.Â
âI wouldnât care to know, if Iâm honest.â You chuckle rather cynically, âThe very moment he found out my mom could no longer serve his needs, that he would have to actually take care of someone for once in his goddamn life, he fucking ditched. Left over a year ago, havenât seen nor heard from him since.â
Your life changed forever when you woke up that morning to his stuff cleaned out of the house, his oil stained spot in the driveway missing his pickup truck, and nothing but a handwritten note on the fridge that said âIâm so sorry, baby girl -Daddy.â
From that very moment, you became your moms entire world. Her one and only âperson.â It was no longer your life you were living for. She needed someone to take care of her, and the person that vowed to do that in âsickness and in healthâ left. Just fucking left.
âHe is who I have to prove myself to. That fucking asshole needs to know just how well Iâve doneâ how well weâve both done without him. I donât need him to take care of her, to get myself through school and graduate with fucking honors, and then go on to get my masters. I can do it all without him.â
Heavy tears begin to well in your tear ducts, tears that have been begging to be shed since the day he left. But you havenât allowed yourself to cry over it. You swore to yourself that youâd be strong for your mom.Â
âY/n IâIâm so sorry. I shouldn't have asked.â She most definitely picked up on the sudden onset of your emotions. As much as you try to hold it back, you just canât any longer. Your flushed cheeks become soaked with your tears. You're sad, but more than anything, youâre angry. Angry for you, angry for you mom. You havenât allowed yourself to properly feel any of it. From finding out your moms terminal diagnosis, to your dad abandoning you the very next day. You havenât done a bit of healing since.Â
But something about her presence makes you feel like itâs okay to show your emotions, to at last let them come to the surface for the first time since everything has happened.Â
You try to tell her itâs okay, that you actually really needed this. But the words are incoherent behind your sobs.Â
She takes note and doesnât say anything more. She reaches her arms out towards you and you lean forward, falling into her embrace.Â
She rests her head on yours, her own tears falling onto your hair. Her empathy is something you treasure most in your friendship.Â
She always knows the right thing to say, and she always knows when words arenât necessary. Right now is most definitely one of those times.Â

âI can help whoeverâs next!â You shout to the small line of students filling the lobby, each one hugging a pile of books flush to their chests as they patiently await you and Natalia, stationed at the other computer behind the desk, to lend them their study tools.
Work has been especially hectic this week as everyone is cramming in their last minute studies. Each computer designated for student use has been occupied nearly everyday this week, but even with the prominence and accessibility of the internet these days, there have been plenty of students checking out real hard backed, leather bound books as well.
As an avid reader yourself, it brings a spark of joy to your heart to see so many people still reading physical forms of literature.
Youâve loved seeing the mass array of books that have come through the counter this evening, ranging from the iconic literary classics all the way to the Fundamentals of Trigonometry.
Next in line is one you recognize from your beloved (sometimes) class on the mysterious King Arthur.Â
Toney Carmichael. The six foot something, brawny, platinum blonde wide receiver for the Michigan Wolverines. And one of the most academically scattered people youâve ever encountered.Â
Youâve made up your mind that the only reason heâs taking classes is to play football. He couldnât care less about the school aspect of it all.Â
He makes the most outlandish, blatantly incorrect comments during class each week. You question how he managed to weave himself into such a high level English course.Â
Your first thought: rigged. Absolutely rigged. Someone pulled some tight strings for him to be able to continue his education so he can keep his precious football schedule.Â
From what youâve heard, heâs quite good. One of the best on the team.
Not that you would know (or give the slightest shit) about a single thing to do with that area of the university.Â
Youâre far too âliberal artsâ brained to understand the intense lore behind competitive sporting.Â
You fight off the urge to roll your eyes as he quickly pads his way to the edge of the counter, plopping a mass amount of books before you, one even falling behind the counter and onto your keyboard.Â
âHey, Toney,â you say, with little to no enthusiasm.
You begin scanning the ISBN tags on his books, noting that they are a cumulative of the required semester readings for your shared course, all of them pertinent to the first half of the class.
You snicker to yourself, realizing that heâs waited until the very last opportunity to read these novels before the midterm test, which is tomorrow.
This class is very reading intensive; you canât fathom waiting until the last moment to tackle all of these incredibly difficult reads.
Nine books in, youâre finally down to the last two to scan into his account. With a limit of twelve books that can be checked out at once, heâs cutting it awfully close.
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight are next, scanned in and bagged with the rest.
At last, the final novel.
It's so torn up and ragged that you canât even make out the title on the tattered cover.Â
You scan the faded tag placed on the spine; Le Morte dâArthur.Â
Not just that, but the exact one Jake had returned months ago. The one you wouldnât loan back to him because you had a far better version that you let him borrow in lieu. (That he also hasnât given back yet, you suddenly remember.) You recognize it as such now, though you didnât realize it at first. But the computer also conveniently notifies you of the last six students who had possession of the book.Â
You twinge a little upon seeing the name Jacob T. Kiszka in bolded arial font on the desktop screen.
But, no matter. It isnât Jake in front of you right now, itâs Toney Carmichael. Star football player. (Sadly.)
You finish the last few steps, placing Mr. Carmichaelâs receipt with the date of return stamped on the top in his bag.Â
âHere you are, Toney. Good luck on the midterm tomorrow!â you say, bidding him adieu while handing him his stuff.Â
âShit, thatâs tomorrow? I thought it was Friday!â
Idiot.
âNope, itâs tomorrow. Better get to reading,â you tell him. He flings his plastic bag of books over his shoulder and nearly sprints out of the building. Again, you ask yourself, how the hell did he manage to get enrolled in his course?
You turn your attention back to the led screen, fully intending to clear the display in preparation for the next student. Youâre met with the harsh realization that a certain name is still grievously present.Â
It serves as a reminder of the very night he asked you to do this confounded film for his brother. Where the very seed of his kindness was planted, only to never be watered and die in the soil with his shit personality. (That somehow still hasnât turned you off entirely. What the fuck, y/n.)
You see a student walking up out of your peripheral, and before you can tell them youâll help them in just a moment so you can finish ridding your computer of Jakeâs name, they slyly place a venti cold brew next to your hand situated on the mouse.Â
You pause your task to snap your head up to see who in the hell brought you your go-to drink.
Whatâs the perfect distraction from Jake? His charming and equally stunning younger brother.
And god, stunning doesnât even begin to describe the vision before you.
This is the first time youâve ever seen his hair pulled back, tied in a loose messy bun sitting at the nape of his neck with a few strayed pieces framing his cheekbones.Â
Heâs wearing the most lovely blue button up embellished with cream colored flowers, left partially unbuttoned on the top to frame a dainty silver charm hanging from a matching chain, complete with a black and white canvas belt bag draped across his midsection.Â
Fuck, the way that these colors accentuate his flawless complextion is rather elating. Your heart jumps a few extra beats when he makes eye contact with you.
âSammy! What are you doing?â you inquire with an embarrassingly huge smile plastered to your face.
He flashes a smile that matches yours, the corners of his mustache curling with his sweet grin, his round eyes crinkling above his cheekbones.
âFigured you could use this,â he says while nudging the cold brew a bit closer to you. âOat milk and extra vanilla, right?â
You pick up the drink and take a long swig of the cold coffee, sighing in relief at the feeling of the caffeine entering your worn down system.Â
âI most definitely needed this. How did you know this is my favorite?â you ask him, taking another sip.
He looks to Natalia whoâs standing near you behind the counter and throws her a sly wink. âA little bird told me.â
You turn your head to look her in the eye, while she quickly looks away and pretends to busy herself with something useless.
âNatalia Dolores! Are you the little bird?â you say with a shocked tone, a massive smile threatening to make an appearance as she attempts to make herself look as inconspicuous as possible.
âWoah, she middle named you, Nat. This is serious,â Sammy jokes, his lips tucked in a patronizing grin and his eyebrows hiked.
âDonât look at me, girl! Heâs the one that asked!â She wags her finger towards Sam, her other hand planted firm on her popped out hip.Â
Itâs staggering how the smallest act of genuine kindness, something as simple as surprising someone with their favorite coffee, carries a meaning far beyond the gesture itself.
Also, it just so happens that coffee is one of the direct lines to your heart.Â
You snicker at her response as you shift your attention back to Sammy, catching the twinkle in his drowsy, honey eyes as they set their gentle gaze on you.
You can see so much behind them, so much that he isnât afraid to hide from you. His unfeigned honesty is captured perfectly beyond his feather lashes.
But the only thought pounding from the screaming voice in your headâŚwhy couldnât it have been Jake instead?
You quickly force yourself to shove that thought down immediately. Itâs quite simple; Sammy gives a shit, Jake doesnât. Itâs time to put an end to your sad, unreciprocated little crush on Jake. His disinterest is unequivocally clear, heâs even said so himself. (Even though he had no idea you were listening in.) So why bother with your silly infatuation any longer when thereâs someone far better giving you the attention you deserve?
âThank you, Sammy,â you tell him, the feelings for his insolent brother waning as you catch the genuinity behind Samâs smile. âYouâre truly my knight in shining armor.â
âYouâre quite welcome, your majesty,â he counters with a regal bow of his head.Â
You smile at him as you take another sip of your gifted liquid gold, humming at the bitter sweetness as it falls down your throat. Perfection in a cup.
âYou know,â Sam resumes, shifting his body to get a good look of the old building in which he resides. âIâve never actually stepped foot in this library. Not even once. Itâs quite beautiful.â
Nat, still standing behind you, huffs a rather obnoxious laugh that makes you jump a bit. âThatâs because youâre never on campus, Sam. Itâs a wonder to me that you manage to pass all of your classes.â
âGeniuses rarely have to try,â he retaliates, placing his elbow on the counter in front of him, resting his head condescendingly in his opened palm. âWhich one of you ladies wants to give me the grand tour?â
âThatâs a big fat hell no for me. Y/n, show the man around. Iâll take care of the front desk,â Nat says, logging herself back into her computer on the opposite end of yours. âBut make it snappy. And donât forget weâre closing early tonight! I want him out of here by 5:15 and not a second later.â she says with a cunning grin.Â
You grab your coffee and walk around the other side of the counter, giggling as you get a look at Samâs full outfit. He paired his rose patterned shirt with gray drawstring pants, covered in contrasting white stripes.Â
Sam matches your giggle, asking âWhatâs so funny?â
âSammy,â you say through your almost uncontrollable chuckles, âyou look like the fabric section of a craft store.â
Another boisterous laugh echoes from behind you, as Natalia chimes in with her agreement.Â
Sam looks down at this outfit with knitted brows, smirking to himself while drawing a deep breath to say, âWell, jokes on you both. I happen to love the fabric section at craft stores.â
âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸
âAnd this is my absolute favorite spot; the British Literature section.â You tug on Sammys arm to pull him closer as he smiles at your unbridled passion. âYouâll find all your British classics here. The Once and Future King, The Mists of Avalon, The Canterburry Tales,â You list them off as you read the titles off the exposed spines, stopping once you get to one youâre sure heâll be intrigued by. âAnd, of course, The Adventures of Sir Lancelot The Great.â You pull the book from the shelf and flip through the first few pages, quickly noting the intense worn smell emitting from the bound paper. Itâs clear that this book has been sitting here for quite some time. âGod, I just love this smell. I could make a candle out of it.â
Sam gently takes it from your hands and takes a whiff himself, making a face that tells you heâs not as entranced by it as you are. âThatâs an⌠interesting scent. Kind of smells like Jakeâs musty room when we were growing up. Makes sense, with all of his old books he used to keep in there.â
No. Please donât say that.Â
âI know absolutely nothing about our beloved Sir Lancelot,â he continues, glancing at the words printed on the first page. âWell, other than what we see in the Monty Python masterpiece.âÂ
As much as youâd hate to admit it, The Holy Grail is, in fact, a masterpiece. Youâre pretty sure you could quote the whole thing word for word.
âAnd,â he proceeds, âthat he likes to bone the king's beautiful wife.âÂ
His eyes flick up from the book to meet yours. You canât help the flush of pink that encompasses your cheeks upon his brash statement. (Or the heartbeat that is pounding at your very core.)
âI guess you could say thatâs a pretty significant trait of his character,â you say, your soft tone cracking a little.Â
He smiles at you as you smile back, quickly casting your eyes downward to avoid the prolonged contact thatâs only intensifying the blood rushing to your face.Â
You hear his feet shuffle a little closer to yours. That heartbeat you were feeling a second ago has now tripled. He gently takes your chin between his index finger and thumb, lifting it ever so softly so you have no choice but to look in his eyes. âGuiniverre could only wish to be as beautiful as you.âÂ
You move your glare to his lips, so soft and pink. Youâve lost count over how many times youâve kissed them the past few months. How many times youâve wished the camera wasnât there during those moments.Â
His gravity is pulling you closer to him, urging you to crash your lips with his in a kiss that would put everything youâve ever done on camera to shame.Â
But just as youâre about toâŚ
âSam? Y/n? Where the hell did you go?â
Natalia. Like clockwork. Here to ruin a special moment just as she did with Jake all those weeks ago when he saw you in the black lace gown for the first time. When she removed him from your sight.Â
You curse under your breath, reluctantly stepping away from Sam as she stomps up the old wooden stairs and finds you both.
âYou guys! I told you 5:15 and itâsâŚâ she pauses to pull her phone from the back pocket of light wash mom jeans. â5:21! Sam, you need to leave. We have to close.âÂ
Sam hands you the book and you place it back in its designated spot.
âI canât wait to hear more about his story,â he says as he walks away.Â
âWhat? Whose story?â you ask absentmindedly. Your mind has become so jumbled with everything that transpired in the last few minutes, youâve completely forgotten what you two had been talking about beforehand.
âOur good old Sir Lancelot. Itâll help me perfect his character on the screen, you know, like you said.â He throws you a little quick wink as he makes his way down the stairs, leaving you alone with Natalia.Â
âDo I want to know what you two were doing up here?â she asks, her eyes opened wide and her hands settled on both of her hips.
You look back to the book youâd just put away, running your finger along the spine, stopping on the engraved Lancelot in gold lettering. âJust as he said,â you tell her. âWe were talking about his character for the film.â
âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸
An air of confidence fills your lungs as you walk into Movackâs class. Finally your last midterm of the semester, and while the others havenât gone as well as youâd hoped, you feel good about this one.Â
This is the class youâve felt the most prepared for. And admittedly, this is the one youâve studied for the least. But, you feel you can get away with that.Â
If thereâs anything youâre sure of yourself in, itâs your knowledge of this lore. Youâve studied it on an academic and scholarly level for more than half of your life. Needless to say, youâre pretty well versed in it all.Â
The only issue with this class: Jake.
Heâs proven to be a bit distracting during quizzes, resulting in you receiving less than satisfactory grades. But youâll be damned if you allow that any further.Â
Heâs disrupted things long enough since youâve started classes, itâs time to forget about him once and for all and focus on what truly matters.Â
Heâs already seated in his spot, books opened flat on his desk as he does a little last minute reading before the exam begins.Â
You donât even look his way as you sit in your chair. You simply pretend he isnât there, a method youâre planning to use for the entirety of his test. (And the rest of this semester, if youâre lucky.)
You sure as hell donât smell his cologne, vanilla mixed with a musky sandalwood, that has bewitched you since the very day you met him. Nope.
And you certainly donât care that heâs wearing a white button up that gorgeously flatters the leftover tan he still has from the summer. Or that heâs not wearing his John Lennon sunglasses that youâve hated (sort of) for months now, allowing for you to see his sparkling, whiskey colored eyes underneath the shadow of his brown leather wide brimmed hat.Â
No, you donât care at all about these things. Your heart isnât racing erratically at feeling his body heat radiate on you in the cold classroom from just how close your seats are.
Fuck. You can only tell yourself that for so goddamn long. And no matter how much you try to fill your head with other thoughts, when heâs sitting right next to you, drawing deep breaths as heâs focused on his reading, heâs the only one you can conjure up.Â
Of course he would choose today to look the best heâs ever fucking looked.Â
You hold your breath as you hear the clinking of his necklaces each time he moves to open and close his books, the ridiculous amount of silver charms he wears being one of your favorite things about him.Â
He seems a bit flustered, sighing and anxiously rubbing his chin (a nervous habit, according to Josh) with each page he turns.Â
Surely heâs not nervous for the examâŚright?Â
âThe exam will begin in one minute. Please place any books you have under your chairs and silence all cell phones. The link to the exam has been sent to your school email through LockDown Browser. Please be sure all other tabs are closed as the system will not allow you to open the test otherwise,â Dr. Movack announces.
You tuck your bag beneath your chair and open your laptop, scrolling through your emails until you find the one from Dr. Movack for the test.
âGood luck,â Jake says in a monotone voice, still so alluring and sexy despite lack of tone.
Heâs shocked you almost completely still as you sit there staring at the homescreen for the test. You donât say anything just yet, giving yourself a moment to register that he actually spoke real words to you. Words that didnât sound angry or annoyed for once. Something kind of sincere, even.
âUh- yeah, you too,â you stumble in response.Â
âThe test will begin now,â says your professor.Â
You try to read the first question, however your mind is turning it into a jumbled mess of incoherent words. You read it over a second time, slower to really focus on what itâs asking.Â
But itâs no fucking use.Â
Jake is clicking away at his keyboard, typing his answer with hardly a second thought it seems. You hear his silver bracelet (that you find rather appealing) hitting the side of his laptop and causing a hitch in your breath.Â
The sound of his heavy breathing as he types should annoy you, but of course, itâs only affecting you further in your distraction.Â
No. You need to focus.
You shake your head a little to snap yourself out of it, realizing itâs taken you more than two minutes to just read and comprehend the first question of the test.Â
You're wasting time. You promised yourself you wouldnât let this happen.Â
In yet another attempt to reread the question, it finally proves worthy as your brain can make sense of it this time.Â
Rank and briefly describe the Three Estates of medieval society. Then, describe their individual significance and contribution.
You rub your temple and your eyelids to relieve the tension before you begin writing out your answer, going as fast as you can as youâve already wasted more than an appropriate amount of time on the very first question.Â
As you type out your response, you canât help but notice that Jake hasnât stopped typing since this whole thing began. Curiosity has you wondering what question heâs on, since heâs clearly flying through this thing with absolutely no problem.Â
You glance up at Dr. Movack to see him seated at his desk, eyes cast downward at his own computer. You then look around the room a bit, each student fully attentive to their own test.Â
Turning your head to Jake, you sneak a look at his computer to see what question heâs on.Â
Number five. Already. And youâre still stuck on the first one. Pathetic.Â
As you turn your attention back to your screen, you hear someone clearing their throat rather loudly. But itâs not coming from just anyone, itâs coming from Dr. Movack.Â
âMs. Y/n.â His deep voice startles you, your body jolting a bit at the aggressive tone bouncing off the walls. Heâs now standing at his podium, looking directly at you while every student follows in his suit with nosey eyes cast on you. âThis is your first and final warning. Keep your eyes on your screen and off Mr. Kiszkaâs, or you will leave my classroom and take a zero for the exam.âÂ
Great. He thinks youâre trying to fucking cheat. And so does everyone else in this goddamn class.Â
Youâre not cheating. Didnât even think about cheating. But how the fuck do you even begin to defend yourself?
âSir, I-I wasnât-â You trip and stutter your words, trying desperately to make yourself look any better than you do right now. But you quickly realize just how terrible it truly looks as you scan the room to see forty nine sets of eyes glaring at you, judging you. And yes, even Jakeâs.
He abruptly cuts you off before you can somehow explain yourself. Although thereâs really no good way to explain it. âI didnât ask for a response. Cheating is strictly not tolerated here and you should find yourself awfully lucky that Iâm letting you off with a warning.â
Lucky. That word isnât even a part of your vocabulary these days.
You nod your head in understanding, shamefully setting your attention back to your laptop. But the words are even harder to read now, as youâre trying to comprehend them between welling tears sitting in your ducts.Â
The humiliation is settling in as youâre trying to finish your exam, but it all feels in vain now.Â
Everyone in here, including Jake, thinks you were cheating. On Jakeâs test, no less.Â
So much for your fucking method of pretending he isnât there. In no way did you manage to be even remotely successful in that pursuit.Â
And not only did you fail yourself in that aspect, but now the whole class, including Jake, knows it was his screen you were peering at.
Humiliated doesnât even crack the surface.Â
You canât win in this class, nor can you win with fucking Jake.Â
âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸
Walking out of class feels like the ultimate walk of shame. Worse than a walk of shame. Like utter defeatâ an ignominy.
The most painful part is this is now the third time youâve been the center of attention in the classâ for the worst reasons.Â
And to add even more salt to the wound, you only received a sixty eight percent on the test. A fucking D. In the subject youâve considered to be your best since you can remember.Â
And itâs not for a lack of knowledge. Itâs because of the string of shit luck and continuous distractions that seem to follow you as of late.Â
The uncontrolled tears are soaking your cheeks as you speed walk down the halls of Angell Hall, considering never coming back as you run down the concrete steps outside.Â
You heard footsteps following closely behind you, but you couldnât be bothered to turn around to see who it was. In fact, you were hoping that whoever it was would just fucking give up and stop following you. You thought that if you ignored them long enough, theyâd just give up.Â
But, no. They followed you all the way out the door, and now you hear them continue down the fucking steps after you. Relentless.Â
You stop on the last step, having every intention of turning around and giving whoever the fuck is behind you what for.
But just as youâre about to, you hear, âY/n. Will you please talk to me?â
Of fucking course.
With the sleeves of your U of M hoodie, you wipe away the streaks of tears sitting on your face, looking at the black marks staining the cuffs from your running mascara. You donât want him to know youâve been crying, but the state of your makeup is most likely a dead giveaway and thereâs not much you can do about it right now.Â
You snap around to see him standing at the front door of the building, hands tucked loosely in the pockets of his blue patchwork pants.
âWhat, Jake? What is there to talk about?â you say, your voice quivering from the tightness in your throat.
He walks down to the step youâre standing on, and you catch his eyes widen at your confrontational tone before he takes his sunglasses from his breast pocket and places them on his face, tucking a few hairs behind his ear.
âWell, first,â he says, using his index finger to push his glasses up the bridge of his nose the rest of the way. âMovack can be rather gruff at times, so just turn a blind eye to him. But second, I just want to know why you were looking at my test. Youâre smart as fuck with this stuff, I canât fathom why you would need to read my answers.â
Youâre struggling to think of an answer. You want to explain yourself, to defend yourself. But where do you even begin?
Do you tell him that you were so fucking distracted by him that you couldnât focus, inevitably causing you to take far too long to answer even the simplest questions, and that you just wanted to see how far along on the test he was to compare to your sudden ineptitude?
No. Not a goddamn chance. While the whole thing looks terrible, you find the true reason behind it all to be much worse than the cheating allegations.Â
âI wasnât reading your answers, Jake.â Your voice is still restricted from the lump in your throat that just wonât go away. But you shove it down as much as you can. The only thing that would make this entire thing worse is to cry about it in front of him. âIt wasnât anything more than my eyes needing a break from my own screen for a tenth of a second. Movack already has it out for me, so Iâm sure he was eyeing me the whole time, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.â
He chuckles softly to himself, and you canât help but watch the way his adamâs apple bobs up and down. And his pretty smile that illuminates his entire face, his cheekbones sitting high atop his glowing features⌠it sends an electric shock to your heart. You donât get to see him smile nearly enough, and you wish so much that you did.
âYouâre probably right about that one,â he agrees. âI swear Movack picks and chooses students each semester to single out. And you made it easy on him with those first few days in class.âÂ
Thereâs his sweet smile again, prompting goosebumps to rise on your skin and forcing out a smile of your own.Â
You canât tell if heâs being genuine or not; being the utter enigma that he is makes him incredibly difficult to read.Â
And after hearing him angrily spit out his true feelings for you a few weeks ago, your brain wonât let you forget his harsh words. Of course, he doesnât know that you heard. And youâll continue to act as if you donât know.
But, knowing what he said makes you wonder if anytime heâs being âsincere,â itâs just a facade.Â
Still yet, youâre appreciative of the fact that heâs not outright accusing you. Almost coming to your defense, even. Not only that, but he sort of complimented your knowledge and academic abilities.Â
At this point, youâll take whatever you can get from him.Â
âIf you have any tips on how to survive his class the last half of the semester, Iâm all ears,â you tell him, nervously twirling a strand of your hair between your fingers. This is the closest you feel youâve ever gotten to a ânormalâ conversation with him.Â
âAt this point,â He places his hand on your shoulder, gripping it tight. You donât even notice the breath you sucked in at his touch, feeling like youâve suddenly forgotten how to blow it back out. âyouâll have to go above and beyond to put yourself in his good graces.âÂ
He wraps up his advice with a soft squeeze of your shoulder before he steps down onto the sidewalk. Â
âAbove and beyond?â you repeat, matching his tone with an added sarcasm. âGot it. No problem.â
Although it would be a lot easier if you werenât there to distract me.Â
âYou can do it,â he says as heâs beginning to walk away, adjusting his leather satchel over his shoulder. âRemember how you put me in my place on the first day?â he recalls through a laugh. âYeah, just keep doing that.â
You dramatically cringe at the memory of your first day of classes, not really in the mood to ponder that mess just yet.
But he is right. Thatâs the only memory you have of Movack actually being somewhat kind to you.
âYeah, youâre right. I shouldnât have any problem doing that,â you say with a devious smile.
âThatâs only if I let you do it,â he remarks with a smirk as heâs already halfway down the sidewalk. âSee you tomorrow.âÂ
Your tummy immediately fills with butterflies as you watch him saunter away. You werenât sure how to feel about him being a decent human being⌠you just know you wanted more of it. More of the Jake youâd come to fantasize about from time to time in your cluttered mind.Â
Like the one who throws one more small (devastatingly handsome) smile over his shoulder at you, still standing in the same place where heâd left you, before he turns the next corner.

Filming has just ended for the night. Jake filmed one scene and left just as you arrived for your shots, so itâs just been you, Josh, Sam and Malachi for the better half of the evening.. Things tend to go much more smoothly with this crew; you quite enjoy nights like these.Â
Youâre seated on their fluffy beige couch in the living room next to Sam, Josh and Malachi perched on the opposite end. With filming ending a bit earlier than usual, (given that Jake wasnât here to cause any delay with his constant arguing) youâve got a little time to sit around and enjoy a movie with everyone.Â
Josh did ask everyone what they wanted to watch, however itâs clear he never intended to let anyone's preference determine what would actually be viewed.Â
Once he turned on the television, heâd already had A Clockwork Orange queued up on the rokuâ it appears it was predestined for that to be tonight's film of choice. Not that youâre complaining, though. You do rather enjoy the madness that is this classic Kubrick film.
Youâre no more than thirty seconds in the beginning of the movie when Josh says, âYou know, Kubrick never really wanted to make this film. He thought the book was a yawn fest when it was presented to him. Just didnât find much interest in it.âÂ
Sam and Malachi basically ignore him, merely nodding their heads while their eyes stay fixed on the blue lit screen.Â
Still yet, he continues. âIt was only when he imagined Alex being played by Malcom McDowell that he decided itâd be worth a shot. Can you believe McDowell didnât even know who Kubrick was? Heâd seen 2001: A Space Odyssey, obviously, but didnât know Kubrick by name. Itâs mind blowing, truly.â
Now that is a fact you most certainly did not know. And being the massive Kubrick fan you are, youâre surprised you didnât know that.Â
âWait, really?â you ask with genuine curiosity to discover more that he might know.Â
Sam places a hand on your knee and squeezes ever so gently. âDonât encourage him, y/n. Or heâll never stop,â he says with a half grin.Â
From where youâre seated, you can see Joshâs face perfectly. And even with nothing but the bright screen illuminating him, you see him roll his eyes and toss his hand in Samâs direction.Â
âYes, really! Isnât that wild?â Josh proceeds despite Samâs interjection. âI bet you also didnât know that his nod to Gene Kelly was improvised.â
âIt was?â you respond with a bit more shock in your tone than you had wanted. You canât help it; this stuff fascinates you.Â
âIndeed my dear, it was. Kubrick directed him to do anything that would serve as a major contrast to the violent and sinister nature of the scene, told him to dance around or something. So, thatâs exactly what he did. Took one of the most convivial moments in cinematic history and turned it into an example of Hollywoodâs gift of euphoria, using it against the very corporation it came from.âÂ
âHow on earth do you know all of this, Josh?â you question.
âBecause he spends all of his time studying this useless stuff,â Malachi jokes. He pulls Josh in by the shoulders and hugs him tight to his chest while they both bust up in a fit of laughter.
âWatch the hair, please!â Josh says, his voice muffled by Malachi's shirt.
Youâve truly come to admire their relationship over the short time youâve known them. The love they have for one another and the love they each give to everyone around them, so selflessly and without conditionâ they are just wonderful, beautiful people.
You still canât help but question how Jake carries the same DNA in his body as Josh, because they are so vastly different from each other.Â
The movie continues while Josh throws in a few more tidbits, piquing your interest and subsequently annoying Sam. (Thatâs almost more entertaining than the movie.)
Sam seems to be a little antsy. Antsy over something else other than his older brother talking away about mindless things.Â
Youâve noticed him glancing your way periodically out of your peripheral, and he keeps taking a breath as if he wants to say something but stops before he gets a word out.Â
You canât take it any longer. âYou okay, Sammy?â you ask in a hushed voice, trying not to disturb Josh and Malachi.Â
âY- yeah, Iâm okay,â he whispers. But you know better. Something is plaguing him, and you will get to the bottom of it.Â
âAre you sure?â you ask, a little bit of inflection on the last word.
He nods his head and hums in confirmation, setting his eyes back on the sci-fi film while you shrug him off and do the same.
As many times as youâve seen this movie, you still canât help but cringe during the infamous torture scene.Â
You verbally express your disgust over the torture being inflicted on Alex, holding your hands over your face and barely peeking through the space between your fingers.Â
The guys all snicker at your squeamish recoil, opting to watch you versus the movie as your reaction is probably more riveting than the horrid images on the screen.Â
âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸
The early evening has now cast a full, lunar glow as time has drawn on with the movie now running its ending credits.Â
Josh and Malachi have long since fallen asleep, cuddled up in an impressive knot together.Â
You peel yourself up off the soft cushion and stretch your stiffened limbs as Sam remains tucked deep between the pillows, still awake as he scrolls mindlessly on his phone as you suddenly remember you havenât checked yours since filming came to an end hours ago.
You reach in your bag to fish it out, only to find that the battery is now completely dead.Â
âShit,â you mumble more to yourself than anything else.Â
Your mind is instantly filled with the worst case scenario. Is your mother okay? What might have happened in the time between your phone dying and now? If she was in trouble, there is no way you wouldâve known.Â
âYou okay?â Sam hushes from his cocoon in the couch, lifting up a bit as you give him a sideways glance.Â
You had just tried to turn your phone on, to no avail. Only being met with the red battery telling you that youâre shit out of luck. Deciding to play it off, you do your best to not overthink it as you toss your phone back in your bag.Â
You feel your heart plummet with the phone the slightest bit. âY-yeah,â you stutter, keeping your tone quiet for the sleeping lovers. You throw a thumb towards the door, connecting your eyes with his again. His expression is so concerned, his eyes mimic that of a baby calf. âIâve just gotta go. Just a grade Iâve been dying to check and my phone is dead,â you lie through your teeth, starting to head to the door.
But just as you get to the door, his hand is over yours on the handle. Your heart rate admittedly speeds up at the proximity. Cute, sweet guy who youâve been sitting closely with all night? Touching your hand?Â
You turn your head back and upwards to get a look at where he is standing behind you.Â
âLet me walk you out,â he offers, his tone kind but leaving no room for argument. âI donât like the idea of you being out there at night by yourself.â
Little does he know where I fucking live. This place is nothing.Â
But, again, you play it off. Company on the way to the car wouldnât be bad.
âOkay,â you grin. And heâs so close, you canât help but blush as you open the door under his hand, still covering yours.Â
Once you get out to your car, youâve built up a little bit of nervous energy from Sammy following you out. You would be lying if you said you didnât have a bit of a crush, and having him so near was doing funny things to your heart.Â
You turn to the driverâs side door and go to put your key in the lock.Â
âThanks for walking me out, Sam,â you look over your shoulder, trying your best to look as cute as possible in front of your beat up, jank-ass car. âI really loved hanging out with you tonight,â then you turn back to open the door. âHave a good night, Saâ.â
âWaitâ,â you hear him say, his voice anxious. You follow the tone of his voice, and turn to face him front on. You canât help the grin that flutters to your features as you wait for him to finish. âIâveâIâve actually been wanting to ask you something. I just wasnât sure how to do it, butâ fuck it. Do you want to go out this weekend? With all of us, I mean. Well, with me, but everyone else will be there too.â he utters, stumbling all over himself as he does so. âJosh wants to have a party here with all of the cast and crew to celebrate being halfway done with the film, and then weâll all go out afterwards. Well, just my brothers and I. Of course Malachi will come. And you, I hope.â Heâs spitting this all out so quickly, itâs like whiplash trying to keep up with everything heâs saying.Â
He seemsâŚnervous? That is quite shocking to you given how close you two have been for filming. He seems to never have an issue in those circumstances. Heâs incredibly confident and sure of himself while he kisses you like no one has ever kissed you before. All for the sake of a silly college project.Â
You smile at him and grab his hand before you respond, attempting to reassure him and make him feel more comfortable. âIâd love to, Sammy.âÂ
You can visibly see the anxiety wash away from his body as he relaxes a bit, loosening his stiffened posture. âGreat! How do you feel about haunted houses?â
âHaunted houses?â you question. âLike, spook houses?â
Your Oklahoma is showing, y/n.
Sam chuckles, âI forget youâre from down yonder,â he jokes with the worst fake southern accent youâre sure ever heard. âYeah, like those. We go every year to them, kind of an annual ritual for my brothers and I. Iâd really, really love it if you joined us this year. Itâs a blast. That's what weâre planning on doing after the party. Thereâs a new one weâre wanting to try out for size.â
Youâve been so caught up in the chaos of everything consuming your life at the moment that youâd completely forgotten that Halloween is this weekend. Time has utterly flown by since your move. It still feels as though youâve just begun classes at the U of M only days ago, when in fact, itâs been months since the semester started.Â
âGod, I havenât gone to a spook houâ sorry, haunted house, in years.â you tell him.Â
His face scrunches up in a tenderhearted grin at your correction.Â
âItâs a date, then!â he exclaims with an enthusiasm that swarms your belly with tiny butterflies.Â
He opens your car door a little wider as you climb yourself in the driver's seat. âItâs a date,â you repeat through a full toothed smile. He matches your grin as he gently shuts your door, bidding you a farewell with a sweet salute.Â
âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸
Each outfit you put on just doesnât flatter you in the slightest. Every shirt is either too tight or too low cut, each pair of jeans has a weird gap in the crotch, your leggings only look good with a baggy sweater. And even though thatâs your go-to comfort outfit, that is not the vibe you're going for tonight.Â
No; you have to look damn good tonight. You want to look good for Sam, for him to see you in something cute thatâs not just a film costume. (But thereâs also the incessant part of you that desperately wants to impress Jake, too. And your usual attire just wonât do the trick.)
You dig through to the deepest crevices of your closet in hopes to find something that looks good, but also makes you feel confident in your body.Â
The only thing you do feel confident in these days is your seductive wardrobe for the film. But, for obvious reasons, you canât wear those to the party or the spook house. That is not the kind of attention youâre attempting to draw this evening.Â
You stumble upon a black velvet skirt, short with a small slit on the left thigh. Youâve never worn it. You bought it years ago for a reason that you canât seem to remember at the moment. But itâs managed to withstand the multiple closet purges youâve done over the years, so part of you has clearly always thought it would come in handy at some point.Â
Holding it up to your hips, you figure itâll probably still fit. (Fingers and toes crossed that it does.)
Itâs supposed to be a bit chilly out tonight, so you rummage through the second drawer in your dresser for the pair of black tights you have tucked away at the very bottom under all of your other undergarments.Â
You sit on your bed as you pull the tights over your calf, up to your thigh before repeating the same thing on the other leg, standing up to awkwardly pull them the rest of the way up over your hips and ass, covering the cute black boy shorts you chose to wear underneath that match your black t-shirt material bra. These particular tights have some serious tummy controlâ something youâre quite grateful for.Â
Now, for the brutal moment of truth. Will the skirt fit?
You certainly hope so. Trying on anything can be incredibly difficult for you. You live in fear that nothing will fit you. Too big or too small, it doesnât matter. Dealing with the size of your body in any aspect is paralyzing and far too triggering. So, doing this right now is a massive step for you. But, if it fits, itâll be worth it.Â
You undo the zipper on the back and step into the skirt on one foot at a time, sucking your stomach in fiercely as you zip it back up at your waist and clasp the small hook and eye at the top.Â
As you let out the breath youâd been holding, youâre delightfully shocked to find that the skirt fits. Not too tight, not too looseâ itâs perfect. A wonderful surprise that you truthfully werenât expecting.
You walk over to your small vanity to take a look in the mirror sitting on top of the white wooden table. You bend down a bit to get a better look at the skirt, and holy hell.Â
Your ass looks fantastic. And the little slit sitting on your left thigh is tastefully sexy as hell. The tights were a great choice as they make your legs look smooth and complement the black velvet beautifully.Â
Now, to find the right top.Â
Giant sweaters are your comfort, but youâre feeling like trying something a little different tonight.Â
You have a dark gray, long sleeved mock neck thatâs been hidden away almost as long as your skirt has. The fit of it has always given you wild amounts of anxiety. Itâs tight. Like, skin tight. Yet, itâs remained part of your wardrobe for a long ass time. So, why not give it a try? Youâre feeling a little more brave at the moment, and it might surprise you just as the skirt did.Â
Shifting through the hangers holding your shirts, you finally find it. Still brand new with the tags. You canât remember why you bought this, either. Perhaps past you was looking out for future you to have something hot to wear on this very night? Who the hell knows.Â
You rip the tags off of it, figuring itâs probably much too late to return it now. You stretch out the mock neck a bit before pulling it on over your head, smoothing it over your breasts and down your stomach, tucking the length into your skirt and tights.Â
You adjust the arms a bit, feeling a tinge of apprehension at just how snugly the material is clinging to your biceps. A body part of yours that youâre not so keen on accentuating.Â
But as you take a look in the mirror, youâre shocked yet againâ over just how good this looks on you, too. The tight-fitting fabric is actually doing you a lot of favors, particularly in the region of your breasts.Â
The shirt isnât cut in a way that would show any cleavage, but the way it fits around them emphasizes their shape, making them look rather perky as they sit perfectly upon your chest.Â
The whole outfit is flattering you in ways youâve never explored. The anxiety about trying something so far outside of your comfort is still ever present, but as of late, youâve convinced yourself that itâs okay to do that every once in a while.Â
Youâre tired of being trapped in the prison cell that is your self conscious brain. Itâs time to break free, and the confidence that filming has brought to you feels like the very key to unlocking the bars that keep your thoughts in confinement. And so does this moment as youâre seeing yourself in yet another new light. It makes you feel utterly silly for feeling as shitty as you always have.Â
You glance at your phone to check the time, and you still have over an hour until you have to be at their apartment. Youâre thankfully making good time, so you have plenty to dedicate to your hair and makeup to perfect it.Â
You decide to throw a few loose curls in your hair, letting the waves fall around your face to frame it. Keeping your makeup a bit on the light side, you choose to go with a small, subtle black wing and black mascara to accent your eyes. You decide on a daring red lip, but not just any red lipâ the same shade of red youâve been wearing while youâre portraying the highly coveted Guiniverre. You grin as you swipe the scarlet color across your lips, thinking back to all the times itâs become smeared on yours and Sammyâs. The giggles that you two have broken out in over the mess youâve created on his face.Â
Digging through your jewelry box, you find some silver and gold chains you like to pair together. You place them meticulously around your neck, making sure theyâre stacked to perfection. Then a pair of big hoop earrings that show beautifully through the loose curls around your face.
But just as youâre closing the lid to the floral painted ceramic box, something catches your eye.Â
A little golden charm in the shape of a heart with your initial engraved on it. Your fifteenth birthday gift from your dad. You used to wear it every single day, up until the very day he walked out of your life for good.Â
You threw it away that day. Tossed in the garbage the second you realized what he had done.Â
While youâre not entirely sure how it made its way to Michigan with you, youâre willing to bet your mom dug through the trashcan to salvage it for you, hiding it in your box for you to discover later on.Â
As much as youâve struggled to contrive a single memory of your dad that doesnât involve him leaving, looking at the necklace has your mind venturing back to the moment he gave it to you. Wrapped up so elegantly in a red velvet bag, with a letter from him that told you the story behind your name, how he chose it special after his grandmother that helped raise him when his parents gave him up. (Seems a little ironic.)Â
You suddenly begin to panic. Where did that letter end up? Did you throw it away, too? God, you really hope you didnât. But it seems like something you definitely may have done in the midst of your unforgiving anger with him.
But you loved that story. You used to make him tell you about your name all the time, and having it written down in his handwriting was something you held rather close to your heart until he up and left.
You start scrambling, pulling your tangled jewelry out in handfuls to see if itâs buried in there, but itâs no use. Itâs not here, and you truly feel in your heart that itâs somewhere in the landfills of Cherry Tree, Oklahoma. Disintegrated to near nothing.Â
It breaks your heart to think of it in that state. But maybe itâs for the better. Maybe thatâs the universe trying to tell you that it was meant to stay back in Oklahoma with the life you no longer have with him.Â
One thing is for sure, thereâs no use in shedding tears over it. Itâs in the past, and thatâs probably the best place for it.Â
You check your phone once more, realizing that you have to leave in no less than twenty minutes if you want to be there on time.Â
You begin rushing around, looking for your black thigh length leather jacket (faux, of course) that you know will match your outfit perfectly.Â
You find it buried under a few other coats on the shelf of your closet. You swiftly grab it and start heading out of the door of your bedroom, realizing that youâre still clutching the heart necklace in your right handâs grip.
Mindlessly, you slowly place it around your neck, lining it up with your others so it sits in just the right place. You hold tight to the engraved charm, swiping your thumb over the initial a few times, just as you always did for comfort in the years that it was worn.
The comforting feeling is still there, strangely. Everything has changed since you last wore this, yet somehow it all feels the same.Â
The memories start to flood back like a tsunami, but you donât have time for them right now. You donât want to overwhelm yourself with it all. Wearing the necklace is just one step towards forgiveness, and thatâs all you have the mental capacity for at the moment.
Throwing your jacket on your shoulders, you walk down the hallway to the living room to search for your purse and keys.Â
Your mom is seated on the couch, watching her favorite television show and cleaning up the plate of food you made her. She starts to get up to take her dishes to the kitchen, but you stop her before she can stand all the way.
âLet me get that, mom.â You take them from her, rinsing them off in the kitchen sink before placing them in the dishwasher. âAre you sure youâll be okay with me gone for so long?âÂ
Tonight will be the longest youâll be gone from her since you made the move, and the worry sitting on your heart is almost too heavy for you to truly feel okay with leaving her tonight.Â
Your biggest fear is playing over and over in your head like a damaged record. But when you told her about tonight, she wouldnât accept anything less than you going and having a great time.Â
âYou look beautiful, sweetie. Does my poor heart some good to see you like this,â she says as you saunter your way back into the living room to meet her warm, smiling face. âAnd I told you, honey. I will be fine. Donât you dare fret about me tonight.â
Triple checking that all of her nighttime medications are out and within her reach, you also take a moment to check that her oxygen tank is full and that her mask is nearby should she need it.
âY/n.â She takes your hand away from the tank and pulls it close to her. âI am just fine. Now get on out of here and enjoy yourself, sweet pea.â
She pats the back of your hand with her other, something sheâs done since you were a child.Â
âOkay, mom,â you utter through a deep sigh. âBut please promise youâll call me if you need me for anything, okay?â
She nods her head in agreement, sending you a warm smile yet again as she lets go of you and softly nudges you in the direction of the front door.
âLove you, mom,â you tell her as you step through the threshold.Â
âLove you more, y/n.â
âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸
You nervously pull your car in the lot of their complex. Itâs been clanking around more than usual tonight and thereâs an odd smell emitting from the engine. Youâre counting your lucky stars that youâve made it here in one piece. Youâre hoping that having it sit and rest for a while is just what it needs.Â
Your dad was always your right hand in fixing any issue that arose with your old piece of junk. Without him, you donât even know where to begin. What shops to take it to, who will overcharge you and who wonât. Car mechanics are a foreign concept to you.
He even promised you a new one by the end of your junior year. Itâs a pretty safe bet that that wonât be happening.Â
Josh answers the door before your fist even collides with it. âY/n, my sweet dove! Iâm so happy to see you!â he exclaims, clearly more than a few drinks in as he holds one tightly in his hand.
He practically pulls you into their home, wrapping you in a Josh-famous hug while nearly spilling his glass filled to the brim with some stout, honey colored liquid. The same one that you smelled on his breath as soon as he opened his mouth.
âJoshua!â you huff, laughing at his loose state. âThe night has barely begun and youâre already drunk?â
âAh, yes! The night is still young, and thereâs plenty more trouble to get into!âÂ
Your hand covers the sound of the giggle that erupts from you. âIt sounds like youâve gotten into enough already, Josh,â you say through your fingers.
His drink meets your empty hand in a clumsy âcheers,â a few drops of his drink landing on your skin before he lifts his glass to take a big swig.
âThe queen is here, everyone!â he shouts while stumbling through the crowded living room. You cringe at the sudden influx of eyes staring at you from Josh (loudly) announcing your arrival.Â
You flash an uncomfortable smile, waving stiffly at everyone while you take your jacket off and hang it on the coat-stand in the corner of the foyer.Â
âThe queen, the queen!â Sammy roars from the kitchen, setting his glass down on the granite before swiftly padding his way across the living space to meet you. He instantly envelopes you in a warm, soft hug, digging his chin in your shoulder. His coarse facial hair tickles your neck as you playfully squirm away from his embrace.
He takes a step back, amorous eyes flicking up and down your form. âYou look intoxicatingly lovely tonight,â he whispers, taking your hand as he gives the tops of your knuckles a quick peck.Â
Although heâs not quite as inebriated as his older brother, you can tell heâs had at least a few. Enough to sustain a pretty decent buzz. So, you donât think his actions are completely due to the alcohol. Perhaps a bit, though.Â
âCome with me,â Sam says while he drags you by the same hand his lips just met. âYour lack of beverage is deeply concerning.â
As he leads you to the kitchen, your eye is caught by Jake standing by the array of finger foods intricately splayed out on huge charcuterie boards.Â
And fuck, does he look sexy as hell.Â
His dark beige collared jacket over his loose, worn white t-shirt is something brand new to you, and his denim button up tied around his waist above his black skinny jeans shouldnât be nearly as inviting as it is.Â
You instantly notice the slightly cropped nature of his top, revealing just enough skin. Even the slightest vision of his lower stomach has your head spinning.Â
But then you realize⌠heâs not alone.
And sheâs pretty. Really fucking pretty.Â
Her sun bleached hair falls just below her impossibly tiny waist. Her green eyes are complemented beautifully by her mulberry sweater, the deep neckline emphasizing her perfect breasts. Â
Heâs smiling, laughing, and sheâs laughing right along with him, making doe eyes as he talks to her. Sheâs holding some bright pink concoction, of which sheâs taking the daintiest sips, never breaking contact with his eyes.
Youâve never seen him so outgoing, so talkative. And itâs all thanks to her.
Sam notices your stare in their direction, and switches directions so youâre now heading towards them.Â
âI donât think you two have properly met!â Sam interjects. âY/n, this is Stacy. Sheâs playing the woman that steals your man.âÂ
He laughs ridiculously loud at his own joke, obviously not understanding where your mind is at all. (How could he possibly know? But, still. Poor taste, Sam.)
She is Stacy. Of course she is.Â
Youâd heard about Stacy, but you hadnât met her yet. All you knew was that she was the one cast as Camille, Arthurâs very own secret lover who will later turn out to be as evil as Morgan le Fey herself.
Nat has mentioned her briefly, telling you that sheâs âkind of a moron, but a fantastic actress,â whatever the hell that means.
Her availability has been much different than yours for filming, so your paths have yet to cross. And since Josh has a strict âno pre-edit viewingâ rule, you havenât seen any of her scenes with Jake.
And part of you isnât entirely sure you want to. With how titillating your scenes with Sam have been, and the rather exposed nature of your own costuming, your wandering mind can only imagine how similar Jake's scenes are with Stacy and the costumes theyâve chosen for her.Â
The script you possess only includes scenes with you, so you havenât even been able to read any of Jakeâs that donât include you, which also means you havenât even read any of hers.
Youâd already made it up in your mind that she was probably quite beautiful. That Jake probably believes sheâs quite beautiful, too.Â
And you were unfortunately right. Sheâs a fucking goddess. You canât hold a candle to her. And given the way Jake is looking at her, itâs safe to assume that he would agree.
Does he feel the same things for her that you feel for Sam? Why does it seem he gives her the attention you so desperately crave from him? Is she the reason why he has next to nothing to do with you?
It shouldnât matter to the extent that it unfortunately does, but the thoughts are deafening nonetheless.Â
Youâre jealous. And thereâs no reason to be jealous, but you canât begin to help it.
Out of instinct, you bring your arms up to fold them over your chest. You suddenly feel like hiding once again.Â
The thrumming bass from the loud music is keeping perfect time with the amplified beating of your heart.
Why do you have to care so much?
You swallow it all down, breaking free from your thoughts to be cordial with her. Because she has yet to give you a reason not to be, and you donât want to be that jealous bitch.
âHi, Stacy!â you exclaim with a forced smile and a reach of your hand to shake with hers. âItâs so great to finally meet you.â
She disregards your outstretched hand, opting to pull you in for an unexpected hug in lieu and nearly causing you both to topple over.
She smells fucking incredible. Like fresh cherries and oranges.Â
She breaks from the hug, still grasping hold of each of your shoulders as youâre standing completely stiff in shock over the way sheâs greeting you, as if sheâs known you all her life.
With a giant smile, (displaying her perfectly white, straight teeth) she says, âI am so happy to see you! The boys have told me so much about youâ well, mostly Sammy. He told me youâre a super awesome actress and has gone on and on about how pretty you are.â
Sam wraps his arm around your waist, giggling and blushing at her statement. You find his sudden onset of embarrassment to be absolutely adorable. You catch yourself smiling at the thought of him speaking of you in such a way. His sweetness more than makes up for the lack thereof from his older brother, who is standing stiff as a board behind Stacy.Â
His eyes flick to yours, and they burn a hole through your own gaze before they land on Samâs arm thatâs hugged tightly to your body. His nostrils flare and his jaw clenches before he gives Sam a look that youâre pretty sure could actually murder him if it were possible.
You canât discern how heâs feeling, but whatever is on his mind, he certainly does not appear to be happy about it.Â
You look up to Sam to see that heâs staring right back at Jake, even throwing him a sly wink before Jake abruptly walks away from the three of you without a single word.
What the fuck is his problem now?
You all stand there in silence for a moment, Stacyâs head quickly whipping around in the direction he left in.
âWell,â you say, clearing your throat to draw the attention elsewhere. âIâve heard plenty of wonderful things about you also, Stacy. I am so excited to see you in the film. I bet youâre absolutely great!â Youâre more so telling her this in an effort to relieve the tension that Jake so lovingly left behind.
She smiles before taking a few sips of her drink, licking the rememints off her full, rose colored lips. âJake is just a dream to work with. Heâs so patient and kind with me. And heâs just the sweetest guy! When he asked me to come to the party tonight, there was no way I could say no.âÂ
No. Thereâs no way sheâs using âpatientâ and âkindâ to describe the same Jake thatâs been a rude, arrogant pain in your side for the past few months. He is most definitely not the âsweetest guy.â
Youâre practically biting your tongue in half to stop yourself from saying anything.Â
Why the hell has he been treating her so much better than you? What is so special about her that youâre lacking?
Well, aside from her Barbie-like beauty. That is something you canât compare to, sadly. Youâll never equate to girls that carry her kind of flawless, graceful allure.Â
And that is probably why you donât receive the same respect as her. It makes perfect sense.
What a vain, fucking asshole.
âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸
Youâve been subtly eyeing them all night, watching as theyâve kept themselves tucked away together in a desolate corner of the living room, completely separated from the rest of the party.
Heâs been ogling the hell out of her while she rambles on and on, talking his ear off for what feels like hours. (About something mindless and irrelevant, youâre sure.)
But whatever it is has acquired his full attention as theyâve basically not lost sight of one another since the night began. (Aside from the numerous times youâve caught him glancing your way tonight. Maybe this outfit was a good idea.)
Sammy thankfully hasnât taken notice of your wandering eyes. In fact, heâs been just as glued to you as the two of them seem to be.Â
And if youâre honest, heâs been a welcome diversion.Â
The drinks have made him a little extra clingy to you, and even more complimentary, as if that were even possible.
Youâre asking yourself yet again why you care so fucking much about what Jake is doing, when you have Sam practically falling all over himself for you. (Almost literally, thanks to the alcohol flowing freely through his system.)
Youâre still working on your first drink that Josh mixed for you, and you now know what Malachi meant when he told you to beware of an infamous Josh cocktail. Thereâs just a hint of lime juice swimming in an endless sea of Camarena tequila. (A Kiszka staple, youâve come to find.)Â
You can only sip on it gingerly as a full gulp would probably cause your blood alcohol levels to rise rather quickly, so taking it slow is necessary.Â
âI think Iâll go pour myself another refreshment. Anything I can get you?â Sammy asks, effectively pulling your attention away from them again for the umpteenth time tonight. (Thank god he hasnât noticed.)
âI think Iâm good. Thank you, though.â
He gives you an inquisitive look as he downs the last few drops of what's left of his drink. âAnd youâre sure you donât want something to eat? Thereâs plenty up there.â
Youâve turned down his offer at least three times now. Heâs been questioning you all night about eating, but you just canât right now.Â
The fear of becoming bloated while in an outfit as tight as this, clinging to every square inch of your body, is far too great to allow yourself to indulge.Â
If you want to look good, especially around the likes of Stacy, food is out of the question for tonight.
âI ate with my mom before I came over, so Iâm really not very hungry.â Thatâs a lie. And you hate to lie to him, to anyone. But you donât want to be tempted by him bringing you a plate of food. Youâve hardly stepped foot in the kitchen for that very reason.Â
He just smiles and says âokayâ as he stands up from the couch to grab his refill, leaving you sitting there by yourself.Â
Normally youâd be grateful for the moment of solitude amongst the wild party goers as they dance and galavant around.Â
But all itâs doing is setting your attention right back on Jake, whoâs still conversing with Stacy.Â
Only now, itâs much worse.Â
Your stomach tightens and drops when you see him mindlessly run the backs of his fingers up and down her forearm, landing loosely on her waist as their proximity has become even closer somehow.Â
You shouldnât care. You really shouldnât fucking care. But goddamnitâ how you wish it were you.Â
Youâve told yourself over and over again to let go of this idea that he could ever possibly like you. Itâs pointless, useless. Heâs made it plenty well known that he isnât and never will be interested.Â
But suddenly, he makes eye contact with you again as heâs wrapped up with her, and she doesnât notice. She just keeps talking to him as if he were still listening.
But you can tell heâs not. His eyes are tightly fixed with yours, and this time, neither one of you are quick to break the contact.Â
Thereâs close to twenty people between the two of you, yet they all suddenly disappear. The music has turned into a muffled, incoherent beat. Itâs as though youâre both standing on either end of a tunnel, the rest of the world stuck on the outside, unbeknownst to whatâs occurring beyond the cylinder walls that encompass only you and Jake.
Your trance is broken by Stacy taking hold of his face and turning it back towards her. You canât hear what she says, but based on the movement of her lips, youâve gathered it was something along the lines of, âwho were you looking at?âÂ
She turns her head in your direction, looking around intently to answer her own question.
But she doesnât look at you. Because in her mind, why would Jake ever look at you when she, perfect and beautiful as can be, is standing right in front of him?
No. Sheâd never suspect it.
And maybe sheâs right, anyway. You turn to look behind you to see a slew of beautiful girls standing close by. Friends of some of the crew for the film, you assume.Â
He was probably just looking at them. Not you.
Never you.
You feel the couch cushion sink in next to you with Sammy sitting back down, clutching his newly fresh drink, completely oblivious to everything happening within your mind.
You suddenly feel your phone vibrate from your purse, and you unlock the screen to see a text message from Natalia.
Itâs suddenly registered with you that she isnât here yet, which isnât like her to be late to anything.
Nat: âSo, about tonightâŚâ
You: âAre you okay?? Where are you, dude?â
Nat: âI *may* have a date planned, & I *may* not be making it to the party because of said date. ;)â
You: âA date?? With?? SPILL IT!â
Nat: âA certain curly headed boy who was also supposed to be there tonight. :p Any guesses?â
You glance around the room to determine who should be here but isnât.
You still donât know very many people in this town just yet, so the possibilities of who it could be are rather limited.Â
It clearly isnât Sammy. And it most definitely isnât Jake or Josh.
Then, it hits you.
Daniel. Sammyâs best friend who has been nowhere to be found all night, who was most definitely supposed to be here.
Youâve loved getting to know him over the last few months. Everything runs extra smoothly when heâs around to help with the camera work, and he serves as the best mediator for the twins. (And Sam when heâs feeling extra ruthless.) Fights are almost non-existent when his presence is looming.
And he is absolutely sexy as fuck. The tallest of all the boys, and the most muscular.Â
With Natâs unmatched beauty along with her kind heart, the two of them would make the most ideal, movie worthy couple.
Youâre sad she wonât be here tonight, but the thought of her going out with Danny has you far too excited to care. She deserves this.
You: âDanny?? SHUT THE HELL UP? Iâm so happy for you!â
Nat: âMaaaaybe. ;) Iâll keep you updated! Sorry for ditching you tonight, love you & have fun!â
You: âYouâre such a shit. Love you!â
âWhat are you so smiley about?â Sam asks, nudging your shoulder playfully with his as you grin at your phone.Â
You lift up your screen to show him, his smile matching yours once he discovers what has you so giddy,
âNo fucking way!â he shouts, taking your phone from your hand to get a better look at the messages. âHeâs been wanting to ask her out for ages. Way to finally grow some balls, Daniel!â
Sinking into the cushions a little further, you accept your fate of not having Nat with you for the night. Youâre going to miss her. You are not sure how youâre going to make it without her perfectly timed buffering. And tonight of all nights is the one where you need her as a distraction. A distraction from the continuously ridiculous display that Jake and Stacy are giving with their secret giggles in the corner.Â
Next to you, Sammyâs small, drawn out cackle pulls you back. It brings a small smile to your face as itâs an honestly endearing soundâreminiscent of a laugh influenced by weed. Youâve gotten used to hearing it often, as Sam is always laughing if thereâs a laugh to be had.Â
Heâs a good distraction. A good buffer. Youâll have him to lean on all night. Youâre assured of this as he looks down at you with his big, beautiful, deep brown eyes. Heâs pulling you in, making you feel safe in this overly crowded room.Â
But another drink would be nice. Just to alleviate any tension that could unintentionally make its way into your muscles. Itâs a humongous risk as Jake and Stacy leave their cocoon in the corner to make their way back to the kitchen.Â
Yeah, you donât want to go back there. You need a drink, but you donât want to accidentally see them canoodling when thatâs the last thing you want to be privy to. The drinkâs a necessity, though, you realize as you already feel irritation flare in your veins at the thought.Â
âYou need something, hun?â Sam asks.Â
You bring your eyes, zoning out on nothing, back to him. God, heâs so sweet. Why canât he be the Kiszka you want most?
Not knowing what else to say or do, you figure asking him to run to the kitchen for you might be a good idea. You need the alcohol, and he would surely love to help. Perfect combo.
âI need a drink,â you say, a shy smile taking over your features. âAnd Iâm too comfy to get up.â
You really feel bad making him be your errand boy. Especially when his face lights up at the prospect of possibly helping you.Â
âYeah!â He eagerly responds, getting up in no time. âWhaddya want? Mixed? Beer? Wine?â
âGlass of wine, maybe?â
âDry? Sweet? Sour?â
âSweet,â you respond, without thought. Sweet wine is always the only route. âThank you,â you offer, blushing with the quiet thanks.Â
âSure thing,â he winks. Then, heâs crouching in front of you, his hand landing on your thigh. Your skin heats under his touch. Heâs so fucking gorgeous. And heâs so close. And heâs leaning in.Â
You lean forward, too, and capture his lips in an effortless kiss. So soft, his mustache tickles your upper lip just right.Â
He sucks your bottom lip into his mouth and your tummy does a funny twirl before heâs standing back up with one more wink and a little grin that makes your cheeks flare red. âBe right back, sweet thing.â
As long as you can without having to move from your spot, you watch him lazily (and sexily) walk to the kitchen for your beverage. Youâre biting your lip, still, when you turn back to face the rest of the party in front of you.Â
Then you see Jake leaving the kitchen right as Sammy enters it. And with Stacy momentarily distracted, he lets his eyes wander. But, you realize, they donât really wanderâ no, they go immediately to you.Â
Youâre still biting your lip, but you let your teeth slip just the slightest bit with the look heâs giving you. Itâs hauntingâalmost as though itâs a best-kept secret. He looksâŚpensive. But his eyes are open, wondering and curious with his lips parted just slightlyâ so prettily.Â
You let your gaze stay on his faceâcontinue looking in his mysterious eyesâuntil Sam is the one exiting the kitchen. So, you turn your attention back to his face. Heâs smiling at you, holding up a clear plastic cup, holding what looks like Pink Moscato. Your lips turn up at the sight, but let your eyes float back to Jakeâs of their own accord⌠but heâs no longer looking at you.Â
No, heâs looking at Malachi, who is still engaging in conversation with Stacy.Â
But heâs not smiling along with their conversation. Heâs scowling, his jaw clenching enough to make your skin feel hot. Whyâs he so mad?
You choose not to think about it, instead averting your eyes to Sam, now back in front of you with your wine, setting his new drink on the table. You let your eyes settle on his ass in his gray jeans and you canât help but appreciate the view.Â
Then heâs turning around and his phone is getting clicked open from his pocket.Â
Peering at the screen, you wrinkle a brow.Â
âWhatâsâ?â
âTwenty Questions!â He excitedly says as he hands you your wine and settles in next to you again. âThought it could keep us busy for the next bit of time.â
Your eyes twinkle. Heâs adorable.Â
âOkay,â you smirk, taking a drink of your wine, which settles immediately into your cheeks. Warms you right up. And, yes, itâs Pink Moscato. âHow did you know I love this type of wine?â
âLucky guess,â he chimes, the apples of his cheeks pink after a swig from his brand new mixed drink. âYou wanna play?â He flashes his screen at you again, lit up way too bright with the questions heâd found online.Â
âYeah,â you reply with a sure nod. âGive me your worst.â
And, without being able to help it, youâre peeking over your shoulder once more.Â
You find Jakeâs eyes, dark and waiting for you, before youâre both turning back to your tasks at hand.Â
Your tummy is positively fluttering as Sammy asks his first question.
âWhatâs one of the craziest things youâve ever done?â
Not helping the giggle that bubbles out of your chest, you know exactly what your answer is. Â
Ironic.Â
âCraziest things Iâve ever doneâŚâ you hum, already knowing what youâre going to say when you give him a tiny smile. âWell, one of the craziest things Iâve ever done is definitely agreeing to star in a project film with a bunch of people I really didnât know worth shit.â
His signature cackle comes to join your giggle, and you feel totally at ease in the moment.Â
God, heâs easy to talk to.Â
âThatâs fucking hilarious,â he responds. Then, thereâs a wholesome smile under his mustache, his eyes encompassing a brand new emotion. âBut Iâm really glad you did it.â
And, with Samâs precious face making you feel a little giddy, and the feeling of eyes burning into the back of your neck making your stomach feel heavy with want, you say the only thing you can think of.Â
Itâs simple.
âMe too.â
âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸
The chill of the night is nearly unbearable as youâre waiting in the line for the hayride that takes you to the haunted house, and youâve found yourself regretting your choice of attire.
Your pleather jacket isnât doing a damn thing to block the crisp breeze, and the small amount of alcohol you had ingested earlier has completely worn off, so you canât rely on that to warm your system.Â
Your arms are crossed tightly over your chest in a desperate attempt to use your own body heat to warm up, but there isnât any heat left to be used. Youâre sure everyone can hear the incessant chattering of your teeth and the jingling of your jewelry from your uncontrollable shivers.
Michigan cold feels different than Oklahoma cold. Your body clearly hasnât adjusted to the northern weather as of yet. (It also doesnât help that you havenât eaten a single thing since you woke up early this morning, but you turn that thought away fast. Youâre not ready to confront that just yet.)
You half expected Sam to offer you his coat by now, but heâs too busy cutting up with Josh and Malachi at the moment to pay you any mind. You feel too awkward to ask, so youâll just stand here and wait for your body to completely ice over while you wait for this fucking hayride that wonât allow you to be any warmer than you are right now.Â
Hell, even Jake gave Stacy his coat, and she didnât even have to ask for it. He just did it.Â
And it doesnât help that she canât stop making her âpick meâ comments about how his coat is so big on her that she looks so tiny in it.
Youâre annoyed as fuck that sheâs here. The way she chimed in before you all left, nosing her way in to figure out where you all were going, just to get Jake to ask her to come. And of course he did. Of fucking course.Â
So, sheâs here. Bumbling about and talking about whatever comes to her dull mind. But, her looks give her a pass. Youâve found yourself wondering more than once tonight why they didnât cast her as Guiniverre. Her beauty alone makes her more than qualified for the role. And if her acting is as good as everyone says, it just doesnât make sense why she wasnât chosen.
Youâre really wishing Nat was here. She would just get it and share along with your annoyance. But she would definitely say something along the lines of what youâre thinking. Sheâs not one to hold back like you are.
(And youâre starting to understand why she referred to Stacy as a âmoron.â)
The line has been still for well over forty five minutes at this point, and youâve not even moved a quarter of an inch since youâve been here.
This better be worth it.
Stacy decides to join in on the guysâ fun, making an obnoxious show of herself as she does so. You know sheâs only doing it for the sake of Jakeâs attention.Â
And apparently Samâs, too.Â
Sheâs got her arm interlocked with his as they stand in front of you, making âjokesâ with one another that might actually make you hurl.Â
Sam is too naive (and still a bit too inebriated) to understand her little game, but youâre not.Â
And it should be pissing you off that sheâs suddenly all over your date, but at least itâs keeping her from clinging to Jake.
The vexed look on Jakeâs face says everything youâre thinkingâ his annoyance isnât quite as subtle as yours.Â
Youâre a little relieved to find that he is also not thrilled about the situation. Everyone else seems to be enjoying themselves, and itâs not that youâre not, you just wish you werenât so damn cold.Â
A sudden gust of wind hits you like a frozen freight train. Itâs nearly painful, piercing through your skin to your chilled bones.Â
âJesus!â You exclaim from the sharp gale, causing everyone to startle and snap their heads in your direction.Â
âYou alright?â Jake asks.
You notice the bright pink hue on his cheeks and the very tip of his nose, and youâve heard him sniffle every few minutes since youâve been here. You kind of feel bad for him. Having given up his coat to the little blondie keeping Samâs attention far away from you, he must be as cold as you are.Â
âIâm fine,â you fib through your jittering teeth. âIâm just so fucking cold.â
âYeah, itâs pretty bad out tonight. Actually this whole month has been much colder than normal, I believe.â He cups his hands, bringing them up to his lips to blow warm air on them before sticking them back in the pockets of his skinny jeans.
Youâre definitely not used to this kind of simple, small talk with Jake. And his annoyed demeanor has suddenly vanished. He no longer looks completely miserable, probably because heâs now ignoring Stacyâs obnoxious, forced laugh as sheâs still messing around with Sam, Josh and Malachi just a few feet in front of you.
Youâre absolutely over her at this point. The way she will snort out a fake laugh and casually peek over at Jake to see if heâs looking at herâ itâs nauseating to watch, really.
âI think thereâs a hot chocolate stand over there if you wan-â Jake starts, but heâs interrupted by Sam.
âIâm sorry, y/n. I didnât realize you were so cold.â Sam says, wrapping his arms around your frigid body and rubbing his hands up and down your back to warm you up.
Youâre grateful for his body heat, the way it instantly puts your endless shivers to rest.
But you wish he wouldâve waited until Jake finished his thought. (And you wish Jake were the one warming you up instead.)Â
But while in Samâs embrace, you catch Jake watching, glaring.Â
His jaw becomes tightly clenched, his chest rising up and down rapidly with his deep breaths, his eyes narrowed in on you wrapped tightly in his brother's arms.
And even as Stacy waltzes her way to him, tucking herself into his body, seeking his warmth, (quite literally just mimicking you and Sam) Jake's burning gaze doesnât cease.
Youâve stood like this for so long that you donât even realize youâre all next in line for the hayride.Â
Sam helps guide you in the back of the wagon, being sure you donât slip on the unstable wooden step. Josh and Malachi pile in shortly after you, then Jake and Stacy.Â
You wince as you take a seat on the sharp hay, wishing even more that you wouldâve chosen something thicker than your skirt. The hay is stabbing you through your clothes, and no efforts in situating yourself to find a comfortable spot are proving to be successful.Â
âHere, â Sam says, patting his thigh. âSit on my lap, youâll be a lot more comfortable.âÂ
The dry hay may as well be needles poking your ass, so you donât turn down his offer. Plus, his body heat will also come in handy as youâve got a pretty substantial way to go before you reach the haunted house.Â
He holds you close to him by your waist as you situate yourself on his warm thighs, but you hear a rather unpleasant scoff coming directly from Jakeâs mouth as you do so. And so does everyone else, apparently, as everyone looks his way at the sound.
Sammy snickers, asking âYou good over there, Jacob?âÂ
His condescending tone catches you completely off guard. And clearly has pissed off Jake.Â
âSam, itâs in your best interest to shut the fuck up.â Jake angrily retorts.Â
Stacy is seated next to him, a ridiculous smile splayed on her unaware, perfect face. Giggling and laughing when she has absolutely no clue whatâs going on between the brothers.
(If youâre completely honest, youâre not entirely sure you do, either.)
But the tension is evident, nonetheless. And she is obviously incapable of picking up on it.Â
But what she does pick up on, is how you're seated comfortably on top of Sammy's lap, giving her the idea to also do that. Because for some fucking reason, she feels the need to always do the exact same thing you and Sammy do.Â
You have to hold back your laugh as she moves to sit on Jake, and he tells her itâs not a good idea and makes her sit back down on a dirty piece of hay.Â
Serves her fucking right.
âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸
A slew of bloody, killer clowns lead you all out of the hay covered wagon. Their makeup isâŚmediocre at best. Not the most realistic youâve ever seen but you can tell there was at least a little more than minimal effort put into their costuming.
Stacy, of course, is screaming at the top of her lungs with each move they make, attaching herself to Jake in an obnoxious manner that almost prohibits him from being able to walk. The look on his features tells you heâs less than pleased with her actions, but he doesnât stop her.Â
They then lead you all to the beginning of their âThree Ring Maze of Horrors,â guiding you through the dark black lit entrance. The sounds of exaggerated screams and wails can be heard through their less than adequate sound system, playing on an endless loop along with circus music in an eerie minor key.Â
A typical cliche; nothing you havenât seen adapted a hundred times before. The concept is a bit overdone in your eyes. Being the horror fan that you are, youâre pretty desensitized to things like this. It takes a lot to scare you anymore. But, you still enjoy the atmosphere nonetheless.
Not only was Jake chosen to be the designated driver tonight, it was a collective decision to have Jake lead the whole group through the haunted house. Of course, Stacy is close behind, clutching his back and burying her face into his jacket, seeking her pick-me attention yet again from him.
You and Sam are close behind, with you in front of him. Heâs not quite as brave as you are, closely mimicking the reactions of Stacy, much to your annoyance.Â
Josh and Malachi are the tail end, clinging to one another as they both share in their fear together.
You and Jake seem to be the only ones who arenât phased in the least. Heâs hardly even winced at a single bloody clown threatening to have him for dinner.Â
But with every jump and yell of a clown, comes a blood curdling scream from Stacy that is far more dramatic than necessary.Â
Again, you have to fight back your laughter at the fact that Jake quite literally shrugs her off and ignores her every time. It appears heâs not buying any of her shit anymore tonight.
Sam, on the other hand, is much more fearful than you would have initially thought. (Especially considering they do these every year. Surely he doesnât think this one is bad, right?)Â
Heâs basically using you as a human shield everytime a clown reaches for him, squealing and bending down to your height to hide himself behind you while you simply look at the clowns and wave, being the pretentious asshole you are.Â
Youâre thankful that both him and Stacy canât see the ceaseless rolling of your eyes each time they make a fuss over something that is not as scary as theyâre making it out to be. Yeah, youâve jolted backwards from a jumpscare or two, but the whole thing is planned out in a way that you can almost guess exactly when and where an actor will strike. Itâs textbook for spook houses. Some of them (including this one) are incredibly predictable.Â
As youâre finally nearing the end of this poor excuse of a fear seeking thrill, you catch the smallest glimpse of a grotesque clown's meticulous hiding spot. But heâs not hidden as well as he thinks, since you can still spot him even with the neon lights flashing about in an attempt to disorient your vision.
Jake is walking closer and closer to his spot, and you have a pretty good feeling that heâll strike once Jake is within the appropriate distance.Â
You see the clown prepare himself and just as Jake is in the perfect spot, he jumps out in front of him, letting out a rather deafening wail.Â
Jake clearly did not see him, having the ever loving shit scared out of him and raising his fist to throw a punch at the actor.Â
Thankfully, the clown tucked himself back away in his little hiding spot before Jake could throw his self-defense punch.Â
Why was that so fucking hot?
âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸
After a rather interesting time out, youâve all finally made it back to their apartment.
The night ran a little later than you intended, so youâre making haste in preparing to leave so you can get home. Sammy isnât too keen on you leaving just yet, offering hug after hug in an attempt to keep you here a little longer with him.
I donât deserve him.
âDo you really need to leave?â Sam asks, his tone of voice telling you heâs got something special in mind. Youâd be lying if you said that wasnât intriguing to you. âItâs pretty late, you know. Iâd hate for you to drive all the way home at this hour. Youâre more than welcome to stay here.â His wink sends a swarm of butterflies to your undeniably eager tummy.
You hear Josh agree that itâs a good idea as he and Malachi are making their way up the stairs to their room. You instinctively look to Jake to try and gauge his thoughts, but, as usual, you canât read his stone cold face.
If circumstances with your mom were different, you might agree. But youâve been gone from her for far too long. And being away from her overnight just simply isnât an option.
âI wish I could, but Iâve got piles of homework sitting on my bed waiting for me.â Again, thatâs a lie. But telling everyone the true reason is a task for another night.Â
âWill you at least text me that youâve made it home safe?â Sam asks. His request sends a wave of warmth to your heart. The fact that he just fucking cares about you, and makes it evident.
âI will, Sam. I promise.âÂ
You start gathering your things that you left on the couch earlier, and as youâre about to open the front door, you hear something that sends a boiling heat to your blood.
âSam's right, Stacy. It isnât safe to be out driving at this hour. Iâm going to insist that you stay here tonight.â Jake tells her.Â
Donât stay, donât stay, d-
âIâd love to, Jakey!â her squealing voice answers.
Jakey?
âYou can just sleep in my room, if you want,â he continues.Â
As if your blood wasnât heated enough, now itâs blistering.Â
You cock your head in Jakeâs direction, and his eyes are frozen solid on you.
Heâs doing this on purpose. Heâs getting even with you for all of your antics with Sam tonight.
Fuck you, Jake.Â
She follows him down the hall to his room, and when you hear his bedroom door shut after they walk in together, you decide that enough is enough.
You throw your stuff back down on the couch and stomp your way towards Sammy whoâs staring at you with wide eyes.
Non verbally agreeing to his inquisition, you wrap your arms around his neck and attach your lips to his with everything youâve pent up from the entire night, letting it all out on Sammy whoâs willing to take it with no question.
He doesnât break away to ask what changed your mind, he just reciprocates the same passion youâve bestowed upon him. Heâs practically clawing at your body to bring you closer, shoving his tongue past your lips and moaning straight into your open, hungry mouth.
With no more thoughts running through your mind, you leap into his ready arms, wrapping your legs around his waist as his hands reach to cup your ass.Â
He starts carrying you up the stairs, holding your body as if you weigh nothing. His lips only detach from yours long enough to open his bedroom door and carry you in, carefully letting you to fall on his mattress.Â
He wastes no time crawling on top of you, sucking the skin of your neck before finding your lips once again.
You grab hold of his white button up and tug on it until it reaches his shoulders, digging your nails into the now exposed skin of his back.
He lifts up to take it all the way off his body, tossing it across the room somewhere before gracefully flipping you both so youâre now on top, straddling him, your skirt now fully bunched up around your hips as his hands begin kneading the flesh of your thighs over your black tights.Â
You grind yourself on his body in desperate search for a release to ease the built up tension tonight has caused you.
âShit, y/n,â he hisses, moving his hands to your hip bones to help guide you even further into him.
The moan you let out is one youâre sure everyone else in the apartment heard, but you couldnât begin to care even if you wanted to.
I hope he fucking heard that.Â
You lean yourself down, your lips flush against his once again, making a show of sticking your ass out as much as you can.
âY/n,â Sam pulls away from you. You chase after him, but he stops you again. âHey, are you sure you want this?â he whispers.
You find his question to be utterly ridiculous. Of course you want it.Â
Even though it may not be for the right reasonsâŚ
You lift yourself up to look him in the eyes, âDo you not want this?â you ask, a bit of defensiveness in your tone.
His hand reaches out to pull you back down to him, enveloping your lips with a long, drawn out kiss that steals every breath of air from your lungs.
âI have wanted this since I fucking laid eyes on you,â he utters against your parted lips. âI just want to make sure that you are ready.â
You donât want to think anymore, you donât want him to think anymore.Â
Instead of using words to tell him just how badly you want this, you lift back up to tear your shirt off your body, leaving just your black bra on your top half. Thereâs no use in overthinking that, considering heâs already seen your breasts due to the sheer nature of your black lace piece for the film.
âFuck,â he whispers, running his hands up your bare stomach, reaching to gently cup your still clothed chest. His thumbs trace delicately over your hardened nipples through the fabric, a rise in goosebumps enveloping your body. âYou are so goddamn sexy, y/n.â
Just as youâre about to lean back into him, you notice something catching his eye. You instantly realize what it is.Â
Fuck. You werenât ready for that yet.
âWhatâs this?â He traces the outline of your tattoo etched under your right breast, no longer disguised under the heavy stage makeup youâve used during filming. Your body stiffens at the realization.Â
Now that heâs officially witnessed the most personal part of you, it suddenly registers what youâre doing.Â
And the anxiety becomes all consuming. All you want to do is cover up, to hide.
At this point, youâre only doing this to get to Jake. Itâs absolutely not fair to Sam, using him and his affection for you like this. Itâs not fair to yourself, either.
This isnât what you want. But youâve convinced yourself that it is, letting it go so far that your best kept, most intimate secret has officially been revealed.Â
You begin feeling a loss of your sacred identity, a piece of yourself that you werenât ready to share just yet.Â
Itâs much deeper than the tattoo at this point.Â
What the fuck am I doing?
You swing your leg over Sam, removing yourself from his body and searching frantically for your shirt.
You have to get out of here. You shouldâve just fucking gone home.
âY/n?â His voice sounds shaky and unsure. âShit. Iâm so sorry. I shouldnât have taken it so far.â He stands from the bed to meet you, the concern painted on his features shattering your heart.Â
As bad as you feel right now, you wouldâve felt a thousand times worse had you continued this whole thing for all the wrong reasons.
âYou didnât do anything, Sam. I need you to know that. I justââ Fuck. You donât want to hurt him. And you donât want him thinking any of this is his fault because it absolutely isnât. âI thought I was ready, I donât think I am. Iâm so sorry, Sammy.â
You swallow down the massive wave of tears threatening to fall, but you canât help the wetness forming in your ducts.
Youâre angry with yourself for letting it get this far. Youâre angry that you almost used someone whoâs been nothing but kind to you to get to someone else, for your own selfish purposes. And youâre angry that you almost gave yourself fully to him without being ready to do so.Â
And for allowing him to see a part of you that practically no one knows about.Â
âHey, hey,â he says, cupping your cheek. You know he can see the tears welling in your eyes, as much as you wish he didnât. âPlease don't be sorry. Iâm only into this if you are. You call the shots, okay? I donât want you to ever feel rushed.â
âI think Iâll just go home, if thatâs okay.â You pull your shirt back on over your head, wanting nothing more than to be in one of your giant sweaters for just a semblance of comfort right now.Â
âOf course thatâs okay. Do you want me to walk you out?â He asks. His sweet, quiet voice is comforting you a little, but you canât shake the guilt youâre carrying heavily on your shoulders right now enough to find enough solace.
You tell him no, that youâre okay to walk out on your own. You canât bear letting him do anything else for you. You just need to go.
He hugs you goodbye, telling you to be safe and reminding you once more to text him when you get home.
You tell him you will, and walk out of his room, shutting the door behind.
As you run down the stairs, youâre immensely hoping that no one is down there to see you leaving but as you reach the last step, that hope you were clinging to is no more.
Itâs Jake. Rummaging through the fridge in the dark kitchen, and to make matters worse, (and slightly more awkward) the only thing on his body is a pair of black sweatpants.Â
And when he turns to face you, you realize how low theyâre sitting on his waist. Low enough that you can see his hip bones and a small trail of hair sticking up from the waistband. Fuck. His hair is an absolute mess, tangled and sticking to his sweaty, flushed face.
You would enjoy the view, but you know good and well why he looks like this. And you know Stacy is still in his room, probably in a very similar state.Â
He watches you while your hurriedly head to the door, not stopping to say a single fucking word to him. He mutters something to you as you shut the door, but you donât bother turning around to catch what he said. You just ignore him, practically racing to your car to get the hell out of here.Â
You throw the driver's side door open, slamming it shut once youâre seated. You sit in silence, laying your head on the steering wheel while the levees in your eyes finally break. The tears are uncontrollable, and leaving right now would prove useless as your vision is completely blurred.
The disappointment in yourself is ripping your soul in two.Â
And you feel so fucking bad for Sam. You made him feel as though he was to blame. But the real reason for everything that transpired is so terrible. This isnât like you, to take advantage of someone for the sole purpose of making someone else jealous.Â
Someone as lovely as Sam who absolutely doesnât deserve something so cruel.Â
Youâve successfully lead him on in ways you never intended, all for the sake of someone who can hardly hold a normal conversation with you.Â
You feel like youâre beneath the lowest levels of the earth right now.Â
Youâre just ready to be home. All you want right now is to be tucked away in the comfort of your bed, to finally go to sleep and forget about everything for a while.
And the reality of how long youâve been away from your mom is setting in, yet another thing to feel guilty about.Â
You choke back your sobs, fanning your eyes with your hands to dry them enough to see.Â
You take your key and turn it in the ignition, waiting for the car to start.
Nothing.Â
You pull it out and try once more. It almost starts to turn over, but the laggy engine isnât doing anything other than sputtering and heaving.Â
You wait a minute before you try again, giving it a second to breathe and praying to every god in the universe that itâll start.
In one last ditch effort, you hold the key as long as you possibly can this time until you hear a loud pop from under the hood. Then, total silence.Â
This isnât happeningâŚ
You try the ignition once more just to see if by some miracle itâll start, but it wonât even try to turn over now. Thereâs no more power.
Your car is fucking toast. And thereâs not a goddamn thing you can do about it.Â
The last thing you want to do is go back inside to ask for a ride. But at this point, your options are rather limited.
Your first thought is to try and call Natalia. But both times you try, it goes straight to voicemail.
Great.
You have to get home, even if that means swallowing your shame and going back for Samâs help.
With a reluctant and heavy sigh, you leave your car and drag your feet back to their apartment.
You turn the knob of the front door to find that itâs still unlocked. (Thank god you donât have to knock.)
But when you quietly step in, youâre mortified to see Jake and Josh now awake and in the kitchen, snapping their heads sharply upon you entering.
âJesus Christ!â Josh shouts, his whole bodying jolting forward into Jakeâs in a dramatic display.Â
You feel bad for scaring him so bad, but his comical reaction does bring a hint of a smile to your face. Although youâre far too upset to laugh right now.Â
âYou okay, love?â Josh asks with a gentle voice while he quickly walks over to you, looking at you with sweet concern.
You know for a fact that your mascara has left streaks of black down your face, so youâre sure you look absolutely insane right now but you couldnât be bothered to fix it before you came back inside.Â
âUm, my car-â you start, clearing your throat to strengthen your weak voice. âMy car broke down and I need a ride. I really have to get home.â
Without as much as a single question, Josh takes his coat off the rack and grabs his keys off the hook beside the door, but heâs promptly cut off by Jake swiping them away from his hand.
âYouâve been drinking, Josh,â he says while hanging the keys back in their spot. âDriving isnât a good idea.â
âShe needs to get home,â Josh argues, ripping his keys off the hook yet again. âIâm completely fine. Iâll take her.â
Jake takes the damn keys back again, this time shoving them in the pocket of his sweatpants to ensure Josh canât get ahold of them. âNo. Thereâs goddamn liquor running through your blood. Iâm not letting you drive. Donât be a fucking idiot.â
âDo you want to take her, then?â Josh asserts, rubbing a frustrated hand across his forehead.Â
God, please no.Â
The thought of being in a car alone with Jake is enough to make you put your foot down on that idea. But youâre also not too keen on him seeing that you live in one of the most rundown, shitty complexes in the entire city.Â
But Jake is right, as much as youâd hate to admit. With as intoxicated as Josh had been earlier, itâs not smart that he drives you. You can still smell the alcohol on his breath and heâs not even standing that close to you.
âJust go get Sam,â Jake responds, stomping off to his room.Â
Josh grunts and matches his heavy footing up the stairs to Samâs room, leaving you standing there alone and wondering what the fuck this whole night has become.Â
A few minutes pass, and as Josh is heading back down the stairs, you notice heâs alone and appearing even more irate than he was previously.Â
âIâm so sorry, y/n. Heâs completely passed out and wonât move. Iâll just have to get Jake to take you since heâs so insistent that I canât drive.â
Fuck.Â
Before you can oppose, heâs already knocking on his door.
âJake, put a goddamn shirt on and take her home.â He yells, not caring enough to quiet his voice for the sake of the others who are fast asleep.Â
You take a peek down the hallway to catch Jake tossing open the door, damn near slamming Josh with it while aggressively putting on a Jimi Hendrix hoodie.
Stepping into a pair of black vans, he takes what you assume are his keys from the hook, already halfway out the door before he asks, âAre you coming, y/n?â
His tone pisses you the hell offâ heâs not hiding the fact that heâs not thrilled about this. Both with his tone of voice and his assertive body language.
Sorry to inconvenience you so goddamn much.Â
Youâre not in any mental state to argue; getting home is your only goal right now.Â
âYep.â You sneer, grudgingly following him out the door to his car.
You had seen the practically brand new, matte black Range Rover sitting in the parking lot plenty of times, but you never gathered that it was his.Â
Although you should have guessed, given the way it so perfectly matches his aesthetic. You recently discovered his affinity for all things piratical, learning from Josh that the medallions he wears around his neck are ancient coins found amongst the ruins of old shipwrecks. He also told you about Jakeâs childhood obsession with Johnny Depp's famous portrayal of the beloved Jack Sparrow character, so youâre not the least bit surprised when you see âBLK PRLâ engraved in the metal license plate. Clearly a nod to that part of himself. (That you canât help but find awfully endearing.)
Itâs nice. Really fucking nice. And clearly very well taken care of as thereâs not a single flaw to be found.
The question remainsâ how the hell does a college student afford one of the nicest apartments youâve ever seen and a new Range Rover?Â
You still donât know what he does for work, but you donât care enough at the moment to find out.
To your shock, he pulls a pure gentleman move by opening the passengers door for you and helping you in his car. Something you certainly hadnât planned on but found rather charming.Â
Once he verifies that youâre in and secure, he shuts the door and heads to the drivers side, letting himself in and starting the engine.Â
He begins backing out of the driveway, one hand on the steering wheel and one on the headrest of your seat, his bottom lip is tucked between his teeth in concentration. You find it all to be inexplicably attractive and you canât take your eyes off of him.
But when his eyes catch your stare, you look away, hoping he doesn't realize just how long youâd been watching.Â
âWhere do you live?â he asks while putting the car in drive.Â
You donât want to tell him. You donât want him knowing that you live in one of the worst areas in the entire Detroit, Ann Arbor area.Â
But you no longer have a choice.Â
âRedwood Apartments,â you say quietly, wishing that this whole thing wasnât happening. âDown on north Highland, just a block away from Meijer down the road.âÂ
âYeah, I think I know where thatâs at.â He nods his head as he begins to take off in the direction of your home.
The car is completely silent, the rumbling tires against the pavement being the only thing you can hear. Neither of you says a word for what feels like hours, but when you look at the clock, you realize your trek began only ten minutes ago. Itâs a solid twenty minutes between your place and theirs, so you still have another agonizing ten minutes left to go.Â
Once you hit a red light, Jake reaches to the center console for his phone and unlocks it, handing it to you with his screen open on his Spotify page.Â
âPick something to listen to,â he says as the light turns green once again.Â
It feels utterly illegal to be in charge of his phone right now. But youâre also a fan of having something to listen to that isnât your combined breaths and the sound of his heavy tires rolling against the road.Â
You take the opportunity to scroll through his playlists, seeing literally hundreds of them categorized quite specifically.Â
Picking the one titled âFave Psychedelic,â you scroll through until you find Voodoo Child by Jimi Hendrix. An old favorite of yours and the song you instantly thought of when you saw him put on his hoodie.Â
You set his phone back down as the song begins, feeling your spirits beginning to lift upon hearing the transcendent tonality that can only be described as the Hendrix experience.
Even Jake canât sit still, nodding his head to the beat and tapping his fingers to the rhythm of Jimiâs strumming.Â
âGood choice,â he mutters, humming along to the classic tune.
âI must say, though,â he continues. âI actually prefer Stevie Ray Vaughanâs take on this one, especially when he played it live. He just exuded the very essence of Jimi, took everything he did and amplified the hell out of it while showing nothing but respect to the original masterpiece.â
Stevie is another favorite of yours. God, the hours you spent during your childhood watching him play, appreciating the passion and time he put into his art.Â
You went through years being bullied relentlessly for your taste in âold peopleâ music, having never found anyone else who shares the same musical palate with you.
Until now.
Having this conversation with Jake is something you so desperately needed right now.Â
âI completely agree,â you say, searching for his cover on Spotify and adding it to the queue. âThe way he could make his guitar sing, like you can hear his emotion through his strings. One of the only guitarists worthy of being compared to Hendrix.â
Youâre thinking about Jakeâs style, his hats and choice of mostly black attire, his mass amounts of jewelry⌠it suddenly dawns on you that he must really love Stevie because his style is so closely linked to his. A style youâve been attracted to since you can remember.Â
Youâre shocked that youâve not picked up on that until now, but it perfectly explains your instant infatuation for him.
âAbsolutely,â he responds. âTheyâre both my biggest inspirations with my own music. I have so much admiration for them, and Clapton, Petty, Harrison, all the rock and roll greats who incorporated the deep roots of the blues in their playing.â
Imagining him playing like some of your favorites⌠itâs nothing but elating. Your imagination is running rampant with picturing him playing the kind of music youâve spent so much of your life deeply appreciating. The music that connected your soul to things far beyond the physical realm.Â
âIâd love to hear you play sometime,â you say, turning a bit shy at your sudden valiant request.Â
Stopped at another red light, he looks to you with the most genuine smile youâve yet to see from him. âYeah?â
âOf course.â
âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸ âď¸ â¨ âď¸
You suck in a deep breath as Jake makes it closer to your apartment complex.Â
Lights. Flashing of blinding red and blue.Â
In the parking lot of your complex.
Fire trucks, police cars, an ambulance. All situated in front of the run down building.Â
âWhat the hell is going on? I canât even make it in the parking lot, jesus.â Jake is driving around in slow circles trying to find a place to enter that isnât blocked by cops.
Itâs all beginning to set in. You feel your heart plummeting to the depths of your stomach, your breaths barely filling the capacity of your lungs.
Your worst fear.Â
You shouldnât have fucking left her.
âJake. Pull over. Now.âÂ
You pull your seatbelt off, grabbing the handle of his passenger's door but it wonât open. You try tugging on it further, realizing itâs locked.
Jake picks up on the urgency in your voice and abruptly slams on the brakes, throwing the gear shift into park to unlock the doors.Â
âY/n, what are youââ he tries to ask, but youâre already out of the car and sprinting towards the maelstrom of lit up vehicles.Â
But as youâre stepping over the curb into the lot, an officer stops you.Â
âMaâam, you need to stay back. Theyâre about to carry someone out and we canât let you over there just yet,â he says, holding your forearm to stop you.Â
Using every bit of strength you can muster in the moment, you pull away from him and continue running. You hear him yelling for you to stop, but his shouting is muffled by the voice in your head telling you to get to your mom now.
As you make it closer, you see them pulling a gurney down from the second floor.Â
The floor your apartment rests on.
They pull it down the stairs slowly, and theyâre angled in a way that you canât see who theyâre carrying.Â
All you can do is stand there and wait amongst the paramedics and EMTs who are trying to tell you that youâre not supposed to be here.Â
But theyâre blurred images to you. The only thing you can see clearly is the gurney being wheeled in your direction, squeaking metal being the only sound that fills your ears.
And as it finally reaches you, your fear is imagined.Â
Her swollen face is distorted by an oxygen mask, her weak body bound to the flat table by straps holding her tight to its cold metal.Â
Her right hand dangles off the side, swaying back and forth lifelessly with every push and pull of the wheels.Â
You lunge yourself forward towards her, being stopped forcefully by two officers whoâve been telling you this whole time to step back. The weight of their bodies against yours knocks the wind from your lungs, hardly allowing your choked cry for her to be heard.Â
âI have to go with her!â You scream as they situate the gurney in the back of the ambulance.Â
One of the paramedics steps between you and the cops, taking your hand and looking you in the eye. The kindest gesture youâve encountered in the midst of this whole thing.âHoney, you canât be in there when they take her. You can drive yourself and meet them at the emergency room, okay?â she tells you.
But your car. You donât have your fucking car. Itâs sitting completely useless at the Kiszkaâs complex. Without it, you have no way of getting there.
You suddenly feel another hand on your body, your left shoulder. Itâs warm. Firm. Yet soft and assuring all at once.Â
It pulls you from your disorientation, grounding you. You peek over your shoulder to see Jake standing there, his presence crashing in like a wave of peace over the chaotic storm that has become your reality.
Your eyes become wet at the mere sight of him.Â
Heâs still here.Â
âCome on,â he utters calmly, moving his grip down to your hand, interlocking his fingers tight with yours. âIâll take you.â
a/n: i'd love to hear your thoughts about everything! as i said, this one was tough for me to write, but it was something i desperately needed to do.
i hope you all love it as much as i do. đ¤

What make you think Dean is not a bottom?
iâll never understand why 99% of spn fandom are so convinced he is a bottom with men when heâs canonically 1) straight (he said so himself multiple times, also jensen confirmed it) 2) homophobic (he HAS said things that are kinda homophobic and since heâs not canonically not straight, those things are just homophobic) 3) if weâre talking about wincest then it couldnât be more obvious from their canon interactions that his primal urge is to possess/control sam in every aspect, including physically, and also regain control that john took away from him when he was younger (which also explains his repressed enjoyment of violence & sadism that heâs ashamed of). i often see shippers say that he âjust wants to submit and be vulnerableâ but i donât get that vibe from him at all, especially when it comes to sam. on the contrary he is often shown to be physically violent with sam and he goes unhinged every time he loses a bit of control over him (which partly comes from his unhealthy obsession with the ideal version of sam). he enjoys having that power/control over sam because it gives him the feeling of stability, he feels confident when he knows sam belongs to him. also just because he lets women take the lead in bed doesnât mean itâd be like that with sam because dean has completely different needs when it comes to their dynamic
#i donât think dean would want to bottom in the first place much less with sam whom heâs desperate to possess and control#if they ever went /there/ sam would be the one to prefer to bottom#because heâs not possessive or desperate for control on deanâs level when it comes to their relationship#and because itâs blatantly shown that he lets dean do anything to him. especially physically#itâs mostly about the physical aspect of their dynamic#also i just think bottom!dean is an extremely overrated dynamic on both sides of the fandom while not having any canon base whatsoever#like itâs so overused atp i wonder how people arenât bored#wincest#samdean#spn

My Love: Chapter 5
Characters: Jake Kiszka x Sara Warnings: 18+ || Gore. Blood. Vampires. Blood drinking. Death. Angst. Fear. Anger. Jealousy. Arguing. Torture. Physical violence. Smut. Oral sex (m & f receiving). Cockblocking. Penetrative sex. Seduction. Makeout.
It had only been two days since the dream and two days since I had any news from Danny or Sam about their search for Chris. After the incident with the Onyx, he disappeared. It wasnât until one of our close friends in Spain spotted him and tipped us off to him. I wanted to go there and rip his heart out myself but I also knew that I needed to stay with Sara while she worked through her transition. Sheâs getting better and better every day and sheâs handling the feeds with ease. Sometimes I even wonder if sheâs doing better than I ever did when I was transitioning. Hell, she did a lot better than Sam or Josh did. Danny transitioned with ease.
Joshâs transition was far from easy. At first he seemed to get the hang of feed and release. Until one fateful night where he took it a step too far, couldnât stop himself. Ended up draining the man and his psyche couldnât handle the fact that he actually killed someone. He went on a blood strike for a month and nearly killed himself if Danny didnât convince him to try again.
Sam? Well, Sam was known as the Ripper. Original, right? He was bloody thirsty. Lustful for it. He tore through Michigan like a tornado, which forced us to leave and go into hiding for a while. It was because of him that we had to live off of animal blood. We ended up having to lock him up in the basement, starving him of blood until he eventually took on the animal blood diet. Now thatâs all that he prefers. Heâll indulge in human blood once a month just to keep up his strength but only if itâs provided to him in a blood bag or a glass. Anything to keep him from sinking his teeth into another human.
Danny was the easiest of us four to transition. He learned his limits almost immediately. Like Sam he stuck to blood bags. It was very rare when he would feed directly from a human and when he did, he reveled in the after feed sex. About the only time he ever had sex. Heâs the one that keeps all of us in line with our feedings and with our powers.
Me? Well.. I started out like Sam, except I never killed anyone. I just fed on and slept with any woman I could get my hands on. While Sam ripped the heads off of people, I fucked every woman that gave me some of their time. I was the one who mastered the feed and release technique. Feed on a human until they become tipsy from the blood loss and then wipe their memory clear before sending them on their way.
Sara caught on nearly as quickly on the technique.
As for our powers?
Danny has the stare that can kill. Literally. One look from his eyes from underneath his brows and youâre a goner. Heâll have you quaking in fear or submitting to him on your knees in one second, whichever he prefers in the moment.
Josh has the gift of mind reading. Though he doesnât use it often, he will if he wants to gain insider knowledge on something. He knows better than to use it on me. Sometimes heâll, on a not common occasion, read someoneâs mind just to see what they might be thinking of.
Sam was given the illusion of despair. He has the power to render anyone into self doubt and bring them to tears. He can even use your deepest and darkest fears against you to get you to do whatever he desires of you. Not one person can defend themselves against him. Not even the three of us.
The power I was given is the ability to make someone bleed with just one look and boil their blood from within. Similar to how Danny can look at a person and they submit. I give them one look and I can have them bleed out from any part of their body. I can even do it without looking at them. All I have to do is focus on the person and what I want to happen and it happens. Iâve only done it a handful of times. I found myself enjoying watching someone bleed from their eyes. I havenât used my power in a long time now.
With Sara, weâre still trying to figure out her given power. She has all the basic vampiric powers. Strength, immortality, and compulsion. Which is great, but her given power will help enhance her survival and defense mechanisms. Hopefully she gets it soon. Sheâll be able to protect herself if any of us four are indisposed.
âSo you can make someone bleed just by one look?â She asks.
I nod my head and take a drink of the now watered down whiskey. Disgusting. I point my chin in the direction of a man sitting at the bar. Heâs been an asshole the whole night and itâs been making my body itch with the need to stick Sam on his ass. The only time Iâd allow Sam to rip someoneâs head off again.
âWatch..â I say as I put all of my focus on the man.
His laughter rings through the air, his loud and annoying laugh. Heâs yapping loudly about his ex-wife but it slowly starts to fade. I can hear his blood rush through his veins and go straight for his nose. Blood steadily flows down from both of his nostrils. âWhat the fuck?!â He exclaims as he cups his hand over his face.
I chuckle as I lift my glass up to my lips and finish off the rest of the whiskey.
âThatâs insane..â She says as she watches on in awe.
âDonât expect me to always do it,â I say. âItâs only when I want to and thatâs a pretty rare occasion.â
âI wonder if I can do that.â
I shrug my shoulders. âIf thatâs what you were gifted,â I say, leaning back in the chair. âTry it.. All you have to do is focus on your target. Pick an area where you want to draw the blood out.â
Sara nods her head and zeroes in on the same man. Nothing happens at first, no blood oozing out of any part of his body. Then suddenlyâŚ
âArgh!â The man screams as he clutches his right hand. âWhat the hell is happening?!â
I watch as his fingers twist, his bones cracking. His screams fill the bar and all of the patrons watch him in fear as his body continues to contort. Bones cracking everywhere as he falls to the floor.
Sara.
Thatâs her power.
Pain and bone breaking.
Sheâll kill him if I donât stop her.
âSara..â I warn under my breath. âTime to stop.â But she doesnât. I kick her foot under the table. She only flinches slightly but still she doesnât stop.
Danny suddenly appears in front of her and she stops. Her eyes soften as he pours his energy into her. Soon the bones stop cracking and the manâs screaming calms down to just simple whimpers.
âI think we just figured out her powers..â Sam mutters beside me.
âWhat are you guys doing back so soon?â I ask.
âHeâs gone again..â Danny leans on the table and cracks open a peanut that he picked up out of the bucket. âBut everyone in the States is keeping their eyes and ears open should he reappear here.â
âCome on,â I say, grabbing Saraâs hand and pulling her through the bar and to the exit. We walk past the man who is still in a crumpled heap on the floor. I scoff, shaking my head and keep heading for the exit.
âJake..â Sara says behind me as I continue dragging her down the street. She tries pulling her hand away but I hold tighter. âJake, please stop.â But I donât. I keep moving. âJake!â
âWhat?!â I snap as I spin around to face her.
âYouâre hurting me..â She says softly.
Looking down at our hands, I can definitely see just how tightly Iâm holding her hand. Releasing my grip, I wipe my hand on my pants. âIâm sorry..â
âWhy did we leave?â She says. âWe couldâve stayed longer.â
âNo.. We should get home.â
âBut Jakeââ
âWeâre going home.â
âI donât want to. Iâm tired of constantly being in the house.â
âIâm trying to keep you safe.â
âI can protect myself..â
âSara, donât make this more difficult than it needs to be.â
âIâm making it difficult?â She scoffs and crosses her arms over her chest. âI feel like fucking Rapunzel locked up in her tower. Jake, Iâm growing tired of constantly being inside the house. Nights like this are pretty fucking rare ever sinceââ
âShut up..â
âJake, I know youâre just trying to protect me from Chris but baby,â She cautiously raises her hand to my cheek and softly runs her thumb over my cheekbone. âI think we just learned inside that I can handle myself, should the need arise.â
I sigh and drop my chin. âYeah.. I guess youâre right..â I lift my head again and immediately pull her into me. âI have to admit, that was pretty sexy..â
âMmm, yeah? You think so?â
âI know so..â I grab her face in my hands and kiss her. âIt makes me hard just thinking about it..â
She smiles against my lips before she kisses me. Pulling away she drags me into the nearest alleyway, away from wandering eyes, and shoves me up against the brick wall.
âOh no..â I say, wagging my finger in front of her face. She pouts and slides her hands down to my crotch and palms me with her hand. She begins to rotate her wrist, moving her hand in circles. The friction causes the most pleasurable feeling. I let my head fall against the wall as I suck my bottom lip in between my teeth. She lets go of me and moves upwards to undo my pants.
âLook at you all ready..â She says as she finally releases me from my pants. Her hand wraps around my length as her thumb circles the tip. Sinking to her knees in front of me, she takes the full length of me inside of her mouth until I touch the back of her throat.
âFuck..â I groan.
While my hand grabs a fistful of her hair, the other slams onto the ledge of the dumpster next to us. Receiving this next to a smelly dumpster is a total first for me.
Her tongue works its way around my length and she opens up her throat to take me deeper until she gags around me. The metal of the dumpster groans underneath my grip. Sheâs working me closer and closer to my release, the pleasure filling my veins and fogging up my head. I canât help but to groan loudly as she sucks on my tip like a lollipop. No doubt anyone out on the sidewalk could hear me as they passed by.
âOh god, get a fucking room!â I hear Sam shout.
Turning my head to the side, I can see him and Danny standing at the end of the alley, pulling out a cigarette and passing the lighter to each other. Danny has a smirk on her face as he lights his cigarette. âAt least one of us is getting laid tonight.â He laughs before grabbing Sam by the collar and disappearing around the corner.
The feeling of her mouth around me disappears and sheâs standing to her feet.
âFuck, whyâd you stop?â
âOh, you wanted more?â She smirks and wipes her mouth with the back of her hand.
âBrat..â I grumble as I tuck myself back in my pants.
She winks at me before turning on her heels and leaving the alleyway. My god, she drives me insane. Pushing off the wall, I quickly follow after her and to the car in the parking lot where Sam and Danny are standing and waiting for us with Josh right next to them.
âDidnât let you finish?â Josh smirks.
âStay out of my head.â I quip as I shove him away. He laughs and shakes his head. âWhen did you get here anyways?â
âJust now..â He says as he snatches the box of cigarettes from Sam. âI have an update on Chris..â He sticks a cigarette in between his lips and lights it up before inhaling and puffing out a few clouds of smoke. âEleanor says heâs in Memphis.â
âEleanor?â Sam perks up. âSheâs back?â
âMust be⌠Said sheâs been sleeping with him for the past few days.â Josh puffs again and flicks some of the ashes onto the ground. âAccording to her, he goes out to feed during the day and when he comes back to her place, they fuck like rabbits.â He sees Danny grimace and he holds his hands in the air. âHer words, not mine,â He speaks around the cigarette in mouth.
âWhy him though?â Sam grumbles.
âYou two broke up over fifty years ago,â I say. âLet it go..â
âSpeaking of exes..â Josh continues. âHeâs not the only one in Memphis.â His eyes trail over to me. âSitovo is back in the states too.â
âSitovo?â Danny straightens up. âDidnât she flee to Siberia or something after the Onyx picked up on her killing spree in Mexico?â
âRussia..â I mutter. Lifting my eyes, I see them all looking at me, including Sitovo. âWhat?â
âYou would know her exact placement,â Sam smirks. âConsidering..â
âShut up..â I snap.
âOooo, someoneâs still sensitive.â
âI said shut up!â
Sam chuckles and nods his head in Saraâs direction. âEver told her about Vo?â
âBesides that they dated way back when?â Sara says.
âThey were lovers..â Sam smirks again. âKind of like how you two are now. Fucked every chance they got.â
âSamuel, this is your last warning,â I growl. âShut the fuck up.â
I can feel Saraâs eyes on me. I have told her about Sitovo but just that sheâs someone I used to date.
âThey were married back then.. Until Vo went crazy..â
âJake?â I look over at Sara. âShe was the one you lost..â
âSara-â I start but she cuts me off.
âYou told me she was dead..â
âIn a manner of speaking..â Sam grumbles. Josh sends his arm across Samâs chest, his hand slapping loudly. âOw, geez.. Knock it off.â
âYou knock it off.â
âSara, I can explain..â
âMarriage?â Her eyes sparkled with tears and her chin quivered. âYou were married?â
âStill are..â Sam pipes up again.
âSay one more word,â Danny threatens him.
âSara, please..â
âHow could I have been so stupid?â
âBaby, no,â I reach her hands and grasp them within my own. âYouâre not stupid.â
âNo?â She pulls her hands from mine. âYou lied to me.. You made me believe that she was dead..â A tear slips down her cheek. âBut you knew this whole time that she was still alive and you knew where she was! And youâre still married to her!â
âSara, please let me explain.â
âNo..â She shakes her head as she starts to back up. âI canât be around you anymore..â
âSara.. Sara, please.â I say as I try to follow after her.
It wasnât until she was turning back around with her eyes on me that the blazing fire courses through my body, the pain unbearable as she crumbles me to the ground. âStay away from me..â She says through clenched teeth.
âPlease⌠SaraâŚâ
The pain suddenly stops and sheâs gone. Josh gathers me off the ground but I shove him away. Grabbing Sam by his collar, I press him into the side of the car. My hand curls around his throat, slowly cutting off his airway. âWhy the fuck would you bring that up?!â
âI just..â Sam gasps. âShe needed⌠To know!â
Images flashed in my head of the dream I had the other night. Chris with the stake in his hand. His smile flashes in my head. Saraâs screams fill my head.
âStop it! Stop it!â I shout.
My hold on Sam loosens and he pushes me down to the ground. âShe needed to know, Jake.â He says as he towers over me.
âYou go find Sara,â Josh says to Danny. âAnd weâll meet back up at the house.â
My leg shook intensely as I waited for Danny to come back home with Sara. It had been hours since she stormed off, and rightfully so. I was an idiot for not telling her the full truth. I should have been honest with her from the start, but I was afraid that if she knew the truth then she wouldn't want to be with me.
I havenât seen or heard from Sitovo since she fled to Russia. I tried to end the marriage before she left but she was so erratic and insane that she wouldnât do it. I didnât want to have to do it, I wanted to help her through her episode and bring her back into herself. It was painful waking up one morning and she was gone. She left her things behind, even her wedding rings.
She left a note explaining why she couldn't stay. Aside from her episodes and how crazy they were making her, she said she had to leave because the Onyx were after her. They learned of her killing spree in Mexico, something my brothers and I tried hard to cover up. But somehow they still found out. They couldn't risk her exposing the whole of the clan so they thought best to get rid of her. So she ran.
They showed up at the house not long after she had left and searched the whole place. No matter how many times I explained to them what happened, they didnât believe me. At the time I had no idea where she had gone, I had no answers for them. They didnât like that. For days they tortured me in hopes of receiving the answers they so desperately wanted out of me.
The sun was their main tactic. Removing my ring so I wouldnât be protected. Whenever I answered with âI donât knowâ, theyâd draw the curtains, allowing the sun to burn my skin. Josh had to listen to my screams of pain, unable to help me. No one was allowed to help me. I was on my own.
The love of my life, or at least I thought she was, up and left and giving me up. It wasnât until five months after the Onyx finally gave up on their search for her that she finally made contact via letter. She apologized for leaving but said she was safe in Russia. She was aware of my torture and said she wanted to help but couldnât in fear of exposing herself to them. She couldn't risk it.
I had lost her for good. She was gone. I believed she was never coming back. And after fifty years, I chose to not be married to her anymore, even if we had a binding agreement. She was dead to me and to anyone who asked about her. That was that. I didnât want to have to explain that she was definitely still alive and hiding out in Russia away from everything and everyone, including me.
Sitovo chose herself. She chose her own safety and left me to deal with the mess.
My only question to her now would be.. Why come back now?
Did Chris convince her too? Will he use her to get to me? To get to Sara?
What if he gets to her before Danny does?
What ifâ
Josh slaps my arm, pulling me out of my thoughts. He nods his head towards the doorway of the living room. There she stands with Danny, the look of annoyance clear as day on her face.
âFound her on the other side of town with some guyâs tongue shoved down her throat.â Danny explains as he walks down the few steps into the room and goes over to the alcohol table. Anger and jealousy boiled through my veins as I stared her down. I knew she knew it too because she wore a devious look on her face.
âGet out.â I order my brothers, not once breaking eye contact with Sara.
âDonât break anything,â Josh says as he leads Danny out of the room.
Once I knew they were far enough away, I strode up to Sara and grabbed her by her neck. She laughed and rolled her eyes. âJakey, you donât scare me anymore.â
âOh no?â I cock my head. âAre you sure about that?â
I could see my eyes darken through her pupils. Using full force, I swung her around and tossed her to the floor. âNow itâs my turn to have fun with you.â I say as I pin her to the floor.
âYour little blood trick doesnât scare me either.â
I chuckle maliciously and grin at her. âYou donât know the extent of it. I only told you what I wanted you to know..â
âLike what you only told me about Sitovo?â
Gritting my teeth, I pull her off the floor and shove her up against the mantelpiece, cracking some of the molding. âYou donât get to talk about her..â
âSounds to me that she still gets you riled up.â She dryly laughs and runs her fingertips along my jaw. âYou still love her. I saw it in your eyes when Josh told you she was in Memphis.. I think that hurt worse seeing that than knowing you lied to me about her being dead, let alone failing to mention youâre still married.â
âOf course I still love her, I never stopped. But I only love her in the sense of someone that I care about. I donât love her like I love you.â
âLove me how?â She questions.
She questions my love for her?
Pulling her off the mantelpiece, I shove her onto the couch. I instantly have her legs hooked over my shoulders as I press my lips against her needy center. I lick a stripe up her, her moan escaping from her lips. I licked and I sucked and fucked her with my fingers until I had her crumbling to pieces before me. I lapped up everything she had to offer and not leaving one bit of it behind. I pull away, letting her legs fall off my shoulders.
âIs that all you got?â She asks breathlessly.
Standing from the couch, I undo my belt and snap my fingers before pointing to the floor. âOn your hands and knees. Now.â
She smirks and slides off the couch. Positioning herself on her hands and knees in the middle of the rug, she glances at me over her shoulder. I fall to my knees behind her and reach forward to turn her head away. Shoving my pants down, I free myself. I bunch up her dress to reveal most of her ass and I line myself up with her entrance.
âWould you have let him fuck you?â I say as I push just my tip past her folds.
âMaybe..â
I crack an open palm against her ass, making her yelp. âYes or no?â
âYes.â She responds.
âHmph..â I huff before slamming myself into her. She lets out a loud moan, her head dropping downwards. âDoes that feel good?â
âS-So good, Jake..â
âIâm sorry..â I lean over her and yank her head back. âWho?â
âS-Sir..â
I smirk and let go of her head, allowing it to drop forward again. âThatâs what I thought..â
I pull out just enough to keep my tip inside of her. âWere you going to do it just to spite me?â I say as I slowly push back inside of her. âI take it Danny cock blocked you, didnât he?â
âY-Yes..â She stammers.
âBecause he knows who you belong to..â I say as I thrust my hips again. âBut I donât think you do..â I retract myself, pulling all the way out.
âNo.. No..â She pleads as she turns herself around. âJakey please..â She says as she grabs hold of the lapels of my shirt.
I trace the expanse of her jaw and use my knuckle to draw her face close. âThen tell me who do you belong to?â
âYou.. You..â She breathes against my lips as I lay her down on her back. âOnly you..â
âThatâs right, baby..â I say before kissing her neck. âOnly me..â I thrust myself back inside of her and slowly started to create a steady rhythm. âI know I screwed up.. I know I should have told you the truth..â
She grabs a handful of my ass in both of her hands and squeezes tightly. I moan from the feeling it gives me and I dig deeper inside of her. âIf you had been as honest as you were when you revealed to me that youâre a vampire, we wouldn't be in this mess..â
âI always want to be like this with you.â
I quicken the pace and thrust as deep as I can go inside of her. âJake..â She moans. âFuck, Jake Iâm almost there.â
âMe too baby..â
I can feel my own orgasm creeping up, the build up becoming utterly unbearable. As soon as I feel her spill all over me, Iâm crashing to my own orgasm.
Slow claps fill the room and I lift my head to find Chris standing in the entryway to the living room. âEnjoyed the show?â I smugly say as I pull out of Sara. Getting us both resituated, I pull her behind me.
Chris chuckles and shakes his head. âI have to say, Jacob. Youâve really found the loophole.. Creating a new vampire all because you didnât want to give her up.â He takes a step down and smiles. âFrom my doing of course.â
âYou killed her..â
âAnd she would have stayed dead had you not fed her your blood.â
âShe didnât deserve to die..â
âHad to do something..â Chris says. âI wasnât given a choice.â
I scoff, shaking my head. âYou had a choice.. But you took the trust that I had in you and used it against me.â
Chris rolls his eyes and moves down off the last step. âOh quit with the dramatics, Jake.. I heard she nearly fucked someone else tonight,â He chuckles. âArenât we jealous?â
âShut up..â
âThough I gotta say, Sitovo is quite the little thing herself.â
I clear my throat and run a hand through my hair. âSheâs free to do whateverâŚor whoeverâŚshe chooses to.â
âGood to know you still care about me.â Sitovo steps out from around the corner. Her hair was longer and curled around her shoulders. Her eyes still looked like the same old ocean blue as they always were. Her staple red lipstick was stark against her pale skin. She never could color in her skin as easily as anyone else.
âHello again, Jake.. I see you moved on..â
âI see you have to,â I responded back. âRussians werenât enough for you that you had to stoop so low to the Red coats?â
âOh very original,â Chris scoffs. âItâs been two hundred and forty-eight years..â
âShould have killed you that day. Then we wouldnât be standing here right now.â
âBut then that wouldâve meant I couldnât enjoy making love with this pretty, little thing.â He says as he traces Sitovoâs jaw.
âWhy are you here?â I question him. âTo finish the job?â
âAs much as I would love that, I love having my limbs intact.â
âHow do you know about that?â
âDonât think I havenât been keeping tabs on you like you have been on me.â Chris folds his arms over his chest. âBesides, Iâve been in town a lot longer than you know. I guess Josh doesnât have good enough resources.â He turns his attention to Sara and smirks. âYour lips taste so sweet..â
âHow wouldââ Sara gasps behind me. âThat was you?!â
Chris smirks. âI have the gift of shapeshifting darling.â He winks. âI couldâve killed you on the spot had Danny not shown up when he did.â
âOh⌠My⌠GodâŚâ I say as I turn to face Sara. âYou almost fucked him?!â
âI didnât know it was him!â Sara exclaims.
âGet off my couch..â I say pointing behind me at Chris as he tries sitting down.
âJust wanted somewhere comfortable to sit while the show went on..â
âThen you can watch my foot go up your ass,â I hear Danny say as he and Josh enter the room.
âYou know this is getting so exhausting..â Josh says as he fills a glass with whiskey. âGive up already Chris.â
âNot until I finish what I was set out to do.â
âThen I wonât hesitate to snap your neck..â Josh says as he casually sips on his whiskey.
âYou know that doesnâtââ
âBefore I burn your bodyâŚâ Josh continues.
âThatâd be a bonfire Iâd love to participate in..â Danny snickers from his place beside Sitovo. He casually turns his head to look at her and grins. âI wouldnât mind adding you to the pile too.â
âOoo, who's having a bonfire and can I join?â Sam says as he walks through the front door. âI love a good sâmore.â
âJosh threatened Chris..â Danny continues grinning.
âOh goody, I wonât have to collect firewood.â
âNow I can see why you went crazy,â Chris says as he turns to look at Sitovo. âTheyâre nothing but murderous freaks.â
âWell, it is what we were made to do,â Josh says. âAlthough we do have control, unlike someoneâŚâ
âHey, it was one time..â Sam says defensively.
Danny slaps him across his chest. âNot you..â He says as he glares at Sitovo. Sitovo rolls her eyes and shifts her weight to her other foot.
âYou still havenât moved on yet?â Sitovo questions. âItâs been over two hundred years, build a bridge and get over it.â
Sam casually leans over towards her, âI would shut up if I were you,â He says. âYouâre poking the stick at the wrong bear.â
âAll Iâm saying isââ
âAnd all Iâm saying is,â Danny says, his voice raising in volume. âYou killed me..â
âI brought you back..â
âYeah, like this!â He exclaims, motioning his hands around himself. âI told you no, I didnât want this! I didnât want any of this and you took that choice away from me! I lost everything because of you! I had to hide from my own family so they wouldnât kill me! Do you know how hard that was?! I had to watch them grow old while I stayed like this! I had to watch them die while I kept living!â
âI gave you a gift..â
âThatâs it..â Danny rolls up his sleeve and takes the first swing at her, knocking her to the ground.
âHey hey!â Sam shouts as he pulls Danny off of Sitovo. âSheâs not worth it, Danny.. Come on, stop!â
âJust let me rip her head off!â
Chris laughs, shaking his head. âThe quiet one is always the first to explode.â
âIâd shut up if I were you,â Josh says. âAnyways.. While Sam calms down Danny.. Let me ask you this.. Did you come back to finish the job?â He asks.
âIsnât it obvious?â
Josh scoffs. âWhy come here then, to a house full of vampires that literally want to kill you, when you could have easily done it when you had her in the first place?â
âI thought about it, I did.â Chris says, nodding his head. âBut that just wouldnât satisfy me much.â
Sitovo manages to pick herself up from the floor and slowly approaches me. I throw my hand out, capturing her by the neck. She gasps for air as I gradually squeeze my fingers into her throat. âYou..â I growl as I look at her. âWhy are you here then?â
âIâve come..to make..amendsâŚwith you,â She croaks.
âHa!â I laugh loudly. âBullshit..â I drop her to the floor and she takes in gulps of air to regain herself.
âYouâre still my husband, Jake.â She says as she looks up at me.
I scoff, âI havenât been your husband for fifty years, Vo. You left me.â
âI know.. And Iâve regretted every day since,â Sitovo stands back to her feet and straightens out her clothes. âI came back in hopes that we could rekindle what we once had.â
âNever will I ever want to rekindle anything with you, except your body.â
âOoo,â She shutters with a grin. âTalking dirty already.â She says as she dares to take a step closer. âThereâs my Jakey..â She walks her fingers up my shoulder, goosebumps being left in her wake.
Fuck.
Stop it.
You donât love her anymore.
Donât let her convince you otherwise.
Her fingers make their way to my jaw and she turns my head so that Iâm looking at her. Her face is so close to me, I can smell the cherry lip gloss on her lips.
âMy sweet, sweet Jakey..â
âPaws off,â Sara warns beside me. If Iâm being honest, I forgot she was still there.
âOr what?â Sitovo spats. âYouâll break every bone in my body?â She laughs menacingly before pressing her lips to mine. âLet him go, just for a little bit. You can have your fun, why canât he?â
I felt like puddy in her hands, melting into her palms.
No.
Jake, fight it.
âJake?â Sara calls from beside him.
âUh oh..â Josh mutters.
âJake, snap out of it,â Sara says as she tugs on my arm. âJake!â
Sitovo licks her tongue across my lips before pushing it inside my mouth. I canât help but to kiss her back, the feeling is too overwhelming to fight. This was her gift. She was able to seduce a man into doing whatever she willed him to. It was a curse on the man but a blessing for her. She reveled in it.
The sensation fell away, the clouds breaking up in my head as I came back to my senses. Sitovoâs wails filled my ears and I looked down to see her crumbling to the floor in agonizing pain.
âWhy couldnât you just listen?â I hear Sara say beside me.
I could feel anger beginning to course through my blood. Dannyâs anger flowed through me and I smirked. Putting all of my focus on Sitovo, I began to drain the blood from her heart and make it flow from her eyes.
âJake!â She cries. âJake⌠Please!â
âYou betrayed me..â I growl. âYou broke me..â
âJake!â
âNow itâs my turn..â
I could see Chris trembling as fear overtook his body. Once I was finished with Sitovo and she was nothing but an empty shell of a body, I turned to face Chris. Dannyâs anger dissipated from my body and I felt like myself again. I smirked at Chris and he looked at me in fear.
âScared of me now, traitor?â I say as I slowly make my way across the room. âYou took advantage of our friendship, and you betrayed my trust.â
âJake, I-â
âI considered you a brother. I loved you like you were one.â
âCome on, Jake.. We can work this out. Start over?â
I laugh loudly. âHa! Start over? Start over?! Weâre in this mess because of you!â
âI donât think soâŚâ
I look behind him at Danny and I nod my head. Danny steps behind Chris and cracks his knuckles. But before he has the chance to even touch him, Chris is violently throwing his head back and smashing into Dannyâs nose, causing him to stumble backwards in slight pain. Chris lunges forward and pins me to the mantelpiece. I canât tell if the cracking I hear is my spine or the concrete.
âI wanted to be civilized about this..â Chris says as he lifts my chin and crushes my throat in his hands. âHandle this myself, but I guess I was wrong..â Before I know it, he has the poker in his hand and he shoves it through my abdomen. âIâm older than you, Jacob. Iâm stronger and faster and I could kill you right now, along with your brothers. Maybe Iâll even spare Sara..â
I struggle against him but the iron poker only shifts inside my body causing more pain.
âShe was gorgeous as a human but now?â He chuckles and smirks. âI guess ever since she turned, vampirism has given her more confidence. Sheâs absolutely glowing.. I mean.. Look at the body..â
âDonât..you..touch..her..â I gasp.
âCome on, just a little taste..â
Suddenly the shift in the room changes. Sam and Danny are dropping to their knees and groaning in pain as they clutch their heads. Josh follows seconds later, his whiskey glass falling to the floor and breaking into pieces.
âNo! No! Jake!â Chris turns my head to the side, making me watch as two other men are grabbing and pulling at Sara. âJake!â
âPlease..â I beg. âPleaseâŚdonât kill herâŚâ
Chris laughs menacingly and turns my head back so Iâm looking at him. âDonât worry.. Sheâll be safe with me..â
The last thing I heard was Sara screaming my name again before I heard the cracking of bone and everything going black.

A/N: Hi everyone! After a LONG time, I have finally returned to writing! :) It has been a long journey for me offline, but I am proud to say that I have finally graduated from college! This fic is a little self-indulgent, but I thought it would be a good way to kick off my return to writing! I hope you enjoy!

Proud (Bucky x Reader)
========
My heart thudded heavily in my chest, my breathing short and shaky as the sound of cheering entered my ears. Bright lights flooded my vision as I exited the short tunnel into the stadium, but my vision adjusted quickly to find the rather large venue filled to the brim with people.
Friends, family, loversâŚ.
Everyone was here to celebrate with us. And what a magnificent occasion it was. After a lengthy five years, I had finally reached the end of my college journey. The moment I had pressed submit on my final assignment for one of my required courses had been one of the most freeing ones of my whole life. The urge to both laugh and cry had hit me all at once, and I celebrated in quite an exciting manner with the love of my life.
Bucky. God, I loved that man more than he would ever know. To be quite honest, I did not know if I would have even reached the end of my program without his support. 5 am coffee runs, continuous attempts to make me laugh when my papers drove me to tears, encouraging texts on the days of my in person finals⌠his support was endless. I could not have ever wished for a more perfect partner.
The joy of finally completing college had slightly dimmed when Bucky had told me two weeks ago that he was scheduled to be out of the country on a mission the week of my commencement ceremony. The heartache in his eyes nearly saddened me more than the fact that he wouldnât be there at all. He had truly wanted to be there as much as I did. That warmed my heart just as much as him being there.
But still, my heart remained hopeful. My eyes carefully scanned the overwhelming number of people in the confined space, trying to identify the man that I loved amongst them. But my hope slowly depleted as the seconds passed by, unable to find him. A soft sigh escaped my lips as I found my seat, waiting patiently as the ceremony began.
My nerves as I walked across the stage to accept my diploma turned into happiness, finally having accomplished one of the hardest adventures of my life. My next steps post graduation were uncertain, but there was no need to worry about that for now. The only thing I knew was that I would have Bucky by my side. There was no need to worry about the future with that in mind.
Following a few last parting words from our universityâs president, we were released from the stadium. With a few parting goodbyes to my close friends, I emerged from the tunnel to where the crowd waited to greet their graduates. I watched with a small smile as all my peers met with their families, the sound of laughter and the sight of smiles filling the space. With one last look, I turned to make my way back to my car to make my drive home. But the feeling of arms around my waist caused me to stop, my heart nearly stopping in my chest as I heard an all too familiar chuckle from behind me.
âYou werenât really going to leave without saying goodbye, were you?â Beckyâs voice was soft but raspy in my ear, and a smile grew across my lips before I turned around.
I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck, letting out a watery laugh as I embraced him tightly. âI canât believe you made it.â
âI wouldnât miss it for the world, doll.â Bucky mused softly, kissing the top of my head. âI also threatened to kick Samâs ass if he didnât get us back in time.â
âYouâre too mean to him, you know.â I shake my head with a grin, pulling back to look at him fully. âBut just this once, Iâm glad you added a little pressure. Iâm so happy to see you.â
ââm so happy that I made it back in time.â Bucky cupped my face gently in his hands, his smile bright as he gazed down at me. âIâm so proud of you, baby. You did it!â
âI did it.â I repeated softly, my eyes pricking with tears slightly at his words. âI did it.â
Bucky leaned in to kiss me, just a gentle brush of his lips against mine before pulling away, letting his forehead rest against mine. âLetâs go celebrate you properly, shall we?â
âWhat did you have in mind?â I inquired with a laugh, taking his hand in mine as we walked towards my car to make our journey to wherever our next destination would be.
â Just you wait, Y/N.â Bucky chuckled, kissing the side of my head. âItâs a surprise worthy of a college graduate. â
â-
A/N: i know, that ending was ass. Iâm sorryđ

It wasnât the best job in the world, but as part-time work went, Dean knew it could be a hell of a lot worse than this. He worked with his dad in the garage during the day and worked four nights a week and two shifts at the weekend in Shurleyâs Sports Bar. His wages and tips went to his dad to help pay for Sammyâs education. Sure, the kid had a full ride to Stanford; however, he still needed to pay for accommodation after freshman year and the thousands of books he needed for his coursework. And at least this way, his dad didnât put himself in an early grave by working all the hours God gave him. Lord knows heâd done enough of that when they were kids.
Shurleyâs was a decent bar. It had a prime location between the University of Kansas campus and downtown, so it always has a steady stream of customers. It quietened during the summer when the students went home or on their travels, but the locals still made trade steady enough. The owner, Chuck, was a bit of a dick, but he barely showed his face around the place, and the other staff were decent, making it a great place to work.
âHey, Dean,â Y/N said as she came out of the back office. Y/N was the bar manager and a great girl. They had a lot in common; both lost their mothers when they were young and looked after their younger siblings while their fathers worked three jobs to try and make ends meet. Y/Nâd had to drop out of college when her father took unexpectedly sick, having to take care of him and her little sister. Now that her father had passed and her sister had a full ride to another prestigious college, Harvard, Y/N lived in the tiny apartment above the bakery where she worked four days a week and in the bar four nights a week and every Saturday night. The rest of the time, she studied part-time to finish her college education and sent every spare cent she had to her sister in Boston.
âHey, Y/N,â he smiled at her. She was pretty, too, and Dean wasnât afraid to admit that he had a massive crush on her. Not that anything would ever happen because she was her, and he was⌠well, he wasnât good enough for a girl like that. âHow are ya, sweetheart?â
âIâm good, Dean. How are you? Oh! Did you manage to get Samâs apartment sorted?â Y/N asked, and he smiled that sheâd remember such a thing.
âYeah, itâs all good now. We managed to get the rest of the deposit together,â Dean said. âThanks for the extra shifts, by the way.â
âDonât mention it,â Y/N smiled. âI still canât believe landlords can actually do that,â Y/N shook her head as she headed behind the bar and started filling the refrigerators with bottles of beer and wine to prepare for the busy Friday night shift.
âYeah, us either. But itâs done, and he has somewhere to live,â Dean said as he put the last menus and condiment buckets on the tables. âWhat needs to be done next, boss?â he asked, smirking when Y/N chuckled. She hated being called that, but he seemed to be the only one she didnât scold for it.
âI could use a hand changing over the barrels if youâve got time?â she said, breaking up the cardboard that the bottles had been housed in.
âSure thing, sweetheart.â Dean headed into the storeroom and started shifting the beer barrels behind the bar as Y/N continued putting bottles in the fridges and replacing the almost empty spirit bottles with full ones to accommodate the busiest night of the year: Friday night football and Freshers Week.
The bar was packed with customers, the warm, sunny weather drawing even more of them in than usual, and of course, Chuck had decided tonight was a good night to show face and âhelpâ, putting the staff on edge. Dean had gone with the head down and get on with it attitude, glad it was three deep at the bar so he had an excuse not to have to entertain Chuck for very long.
Y/N had been running around after Chuck all night, finding this paperwork and that invoice and the employee payroll for the past six weeks. Eventually, when he couldnât possibly ask for anything more, sheâd escaped the office, having brazenly told her boss that she was needed front of house to help serve customers.
âI swear,â sheâd said as she tied her little black serverâs apron around her waist, âItâs like he fucking knew tonight would be the busiest night but still came to check months old paperwork! God, that man is insufferable!â
It wasnât often that Y/N showed her annoyance, and Dean couldnât help but think it was cute. Though, admittedly, that could be his crush talking, her furrowed brow and tiny pout were adorable.
âWhat can I do to help?â he asked as she took her place behind the bar.
âI should be asking you that question!â she giggled. âWhat do you need me to do?â
âWe could do with someone collecting and cleaning the empty glasses, if you wouldnât mind?â he responded, smiling as she picked up a basket, cleaning spray, and a cloth before heâd finished his sentence.
âYou got it,â she winked and headed onto the floor to clear and wipe the tables down. And that, Dean thought, is what makes a good boss. Someone who works with the team to achieve the same goal. Someone who isnât afraid of stepping in to help by doing the most mundane tasks that are below their pay grade.
Y/N was a breath of fresh air for him in so many ways. She was bubbly and caring, and no matter what was thrown her way, she responded with an air of calmness and dignity that he admired.
âHey, man. What can I get ya?â Dean asked the next patron, finally taking his eyes off the girl slowly taking over his every thought.
âBe careful,â Dean said as Y/N headed back onto the floor to clear more glasses and tables. âItâs getting rowdy out there. You know what those college boys can be like.â
âThanks, Dean,â she smiled. âIâm sure Iâll be fine.â
He knew she would be. Heâd seen her handling every kind of drunk customer. Still, heâd watch her closely because he was more worried than usual. The crowd tonight seemed even more enthused thanks to the local sports team playing. It still surprised him how often the female staff got touched inappropriately and had the most vulgar things said to them by too drunk and far too confident men. More than once Dean had had to step in and stop something from going too far, and heâd do it as many times as he needed to for Y/N or any of the other female staff.
Y/N managed to get around most of the bar unscathed, but there was a particularly boisterous table of men who only frequented the bar when the Chiefs played. Dean had been watching them all night because they seemed to have forgotten their age and tried to out-drink their much younger counterparts. Theyâd already run their mouths off to the bar staff, and now one of them in particular had their beady eye on Y/N as she moved from table to table, collecting empty glasses and bottles.
Swapping her tray out for an empty one, Y/N made her way over to their table, and the second she got close enough, the balding guy with the beady eye was quick to rear his hand back and smack her ass. Deanâs hackles rose, and he was on high alert as he watched her give the douchebag a piece of her mind. But he didnât stop. Douchebag wrapped his arms around her waist and tried pulling her onto his lap. All the while, his douchebag little friends laughed and cheered him on like heâd won a fucking prize.
Dean saw red as he ran around the bar and strode purposely over to the group of middle-aged men amid a mid-life crisis and pulled Y/N from his hold, dragging her behind him to protect her.
âThe lady told you to leave her alone. I suggest you do that,â Dean fumed, only getting angrier at Douchebagâs smirk.
âOh, ladies and gentlemen, we have a jealous boyfriend trying to protect his girl! You know, if she were my girlfriend, I wouldnât let her out the house wearing something soâŚâ he paused as he leered up and down Y/Nâs body, ârevealing.â
âListen, asshole, you donât want to piss me off right now. Why donât you and your buddies call it a night and go home? Youâve clearly had too much to drink, and we donât take kindly to people assaulting our staff here,â Deanâs jaw was clenched, but heâd somehow managed to keep his voice steady.
âSorry, man,â Douchebag smirked as he stood. âJust canât help myself when I see a pretty girl showing off half her body like a Goddamn little tease. Sheâs asking for it, really.â
That was the last straw, and as Douchebag made one final (and unfortunately successful) attempt to get his hands on Y/N, Dean pulled his fist back and punched him square on the nose. The resounding crack as Dean broke the guyâs nose was satisfying, as were the synchronised grimacing âoohsâ that the audience this little corner of the bar had attracted.
âYou broke my nose, asshole!â Douchebag spluttered. âIâm reporting you for assault!â
âYou do that,â Y/N said, âand Iâll have you arrested, too. This whole bar and the CCTV saw you grope me twice and clearly saw me trying to get you off me! What he did,â she pointed at Dean, âwas save me from being sexually assaulted!â
âCome on, man,â one of Douchebagâs friends said, patting him on the back. âLetâs get you to the hospital. Itâs not worth it.â
âDamn straight itâs not!â Dean yelled. âAny way you spin this, he doesnât win, so get the hell out and donât come back!â
Tail between their legs, Douchebag and his friends left the bar. The second the door shut behind them, Dean was next to Y/N, checking her for injuries.
âIâm fine, Dean,â she insisted, but her eyes told a different story. The encounter had shaken her up, and Dean wanted to fix it, needed to fix it.
âNo, sweetheart, youâre not. Youâreââ Dean began but was interrupted by the shrill voice of Chuck.
âWinchester, my office, now! You too, Y/N.â
Seeing Y/N sitting beside him on the other side of the desk was strange. This was where she did all the paperwork, payroll, ordering, and invoicing, so to see Chuck on her chair was disconcerting. And not good.
âI donât know what was going on out thereââ Chuck began, and Dean scoffed in disbelief.
âYouâre bar manager was sexually assaulted by a customer. Thatâs what happened!â Dean sat forward on his chair, raising his voice. He only calmed when Y/N placed her hand on his forearm.
Chuck pursed his lips at his outburst and continued speaking as if Dean hadnât interrupted.
âI donât know what happened, but whatever it was, sexual assault or not,â Chuck looked pointedly at Y/N before he continued. âItâs no excuse for my staff to behave violently.â
âYou have got to be kidding me!â Dean fumed. âThat⌠scumbag⌠touched her ass and her breasts and tried to force her into his lap! You see those bruises, right?â he asked as he pointed to the dark purple fingerprint marks on her arms.
âInappropriate comments, slurs, even touching, is to be expected when you work in a barââ Chuck was interrupted again, this time by Y/N.
âThere are no touching policies in every strip club in the country for a reason, Chuck! You cannot expect it to be any different in a fratboy sports bar! No one should go to work expecting that being sexually assaulted is okay!â
âFor Godâs sake, Y/N! So what a guy touched your ass and tits! You should be flattered!â
âIt was sexual assault, Chuck! That guy,â Y/N pointed behind her in the general direction of the bar, âtouched me without permission, and I could have him charged! You too with how youâre behaving!â
âOh, stop being so dramatic! I feel sorry for your boyfriend if this is how prudish you are!â
âHey, that isââ Dean interjected, but Chuck kept talking.
âDean, youâre fired. I cannot, and will not, allow a violent brute to work in my bar.â
âYou canât do that!â Y/N protested.
âWatch it, or youâll be gone, too!â Chuck threatened, but Dean knew it was an empty one with her. He needed her too much. The bar would burn to the ground without her in charge.
âNo need. I quit. Effective immediately. I cannot, and will not,â Y/N glared at Chuck as she repeated his words to him, âwork in a place where Iâm expected to be sexually harassed and assaulted and ignore it. I cannot, and will not, work for a man who fires a good person for helping someone in need.â
Standing, Y/N took off her apron and name tag and threw them on the desk. She unhooked the keys from her belt and pulled the cash box towards her, opening it and pulling out two brown envelopes, handing one to Dean and putting the other in her pocket. Once sheâd locked the cash box, she tossed her keys down on the cheap metal desk with a satisfying clang.
âReally? Youâre going to quit over him?â Chuck scoffed.
âYes. Dean is worth a thousand shitty bar jobs like this one, and Iâd choose him over any of them in a heartbeat,â Y/N said with her head held high. âI hope you know youâve just lost your two best workers on the busiest night of the year. Come on, Dean. Letâs get out of this shithole.â
Dean didnât protest. He stood up, smirked at Chuck because he just couldnât help himself, and followed Y/N out of the bar and onto the street.
âSweetheart, you didnât need to do that. Iâm a big boy, and I can look after myself,â Dean said after walking in silence for a few minutes.
âI know you can, and yes, I did. That was unfair and undeserved. Especially because it was my fault,â Y/N responded.
âHey, donât ever⌠it wasnât your fault. Things like that are never the womanâs fault, you know that, right?â Dean couldnât believe sheâd ever think something like that would be her own doing.
âI know, but if Iâd listened to you and let Marcus clear tables instead of me, none of this wouldâve happened.â
âNo. I wonât hear it. You didnât ask to be groped by a balding douchebag going through a mid-life crisis, sweetheart. Donât ever apologise for someone elseâs wrongdoing,â he reassured her.
âSo, what do we do now? We both kinda needed that job,â Y/N chuckled, but it held no humour.
âWell, I might know a guy who owns a wine bar downtown. A classy establishment, so the tips are better. And weâd be treated right,â Dean said, thinking of the bar Cas had tried to get him to work in for months.
âYou have a buddy with a bar, and you chose to stay working in that shithole?â Y/N asked in disbelief. âWhy? What would possess you to stay there? Willingly?â
âIt wasnât all bad,â Dean smirked. This wasnât where he envisioned this conversation goingâif it ever happened at all, that isâbut the perfect opportunity had presented itself and heâd never forgive himself if he didnât take it. âI got to see you almost every day.â
âCome on! You did not stay there for me!â Y/N scoffed, and Dean shrugged his shoulders, his lips tugging upwards in a shy smile.
âI did, actually. Canât think of anyone better to spend so much time with.â
âDean Winchester,â she grinned. âAre you flirting with me?â The teasing tone in her words was one heâd never heard before, and he liked it.
âDo you want me to be flirting with you?â heâd asked, needing to hear her say it before he did something stupid because heâd misread the signals.
âYeah⌠I think I do,â Y/N giggled, stepping closer to him, bumping their arms together as they stepped in sync down the sidewalk.
âYeah?â he asked, checking again because, quite frankly, she was her and he was him.
âYeah.â
Dean stopped walking and gently grabbed her forearm to stop her from walking ahead. Feeling brave, Dean placed his hands on her cheeks and dipped his head, slowly lowering his lips to hers. Every inch closer he got, he switched his gaze between her lips and her eyes, making sure this was what she wanted.
When there was no hesitation and nowhere else to go, he closed his eyes and pressed his lips to hers. They were as soft as they always looked, softer even, and tasted as sweet as heâd imagined they would.
Y/N pressed herself closer to him with a low hum and slid her arms up his chest, resting one hand on his pec and the other curling around his neck. Dean licked her bottom lip, encouraging her to open her mouth and let him deepen their kiss.
He failed to hold back a groan when his tongue met hers, the feeling so much better than anything his mind couldâve conjured up. Dean couldnât remember how long heâd wanted this, and now that it was happening, he knew heâd do whatever he could to keep her in his arms, just like this.
