most obvious duo- (chris & josh) they would be an og scream situation and would probably be super obvious but it would still somehow take a really long time for them to be caught. chris would make the calls & josh does the killing + their motive (revenge)

(sam) would be a scream 3 roman type ghost face and would go solo and probably be super efficient because no one would suspect her. the group would probably accuse josh of being ghostface and focus their attention on him and give sam a perfect distraction

(jess and mike) would be a scream 4 jill and charlie duo where jess does almost all the work and mike is the scapegoat for her/ the person that most people would accuse because he seems so obvious. jess would also probably have a similar motive to jill in wanting to become famous after the killings.

i could also see jess and ash being a duo because ashley would be such a good unsuspecting partner and almost no one would assume she’d be involved. jess is probably the planner of the kills, but i think they both have an equal part in killing/calling <3

dylan and kaitlyn would be such an insane duo with kaitlyn’s skills and dylan’s charm. they’d definitely have an insane body count and kaitlyn would do most of the work while dylan made calls and provided distractions for her to get everything done

laura would be a solo ghostface, like sam, and despite her being someone that would be sort of an obvious pick, she can be disarming enough to throw people off the scent. i think her motive would probably be to avenge max, especially if he’s killed by a member of the hackett family, and go after everyone (especially travis)

emma and abi would be a sort of unsuspecting duo because emma would want the fame while abi is mostly doing it in a mickey scream 3 fashion (peer pressure) emma would do a super dramatic reveal (so vulgar!) and get famous after the killings

Superman & Lois

Although I post regularly about Superman, I haven’t discussed the Superman & Lois series.

I only occasionally watch Arrowverse shows. But I saw a few episodes of Supergirl when it introduced Tyler Hoechlin as Superman. I instinctively liked him in the role. He’s not physically as big as Henry Cavill, but he fills out the suit nicely. From what I saw, I also liked Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois. In fact, she may be one of the best depictions of the Daily Planet’s star reporter.

But when the duo moved on to their own show, I didn’t watch it. One reason was, I switched my cable service, I no longer had access to the CW. And while I’ve had MAX on and off, I never got around to watching it.

Another reason is that in the Arrowverse, Jon Cryer played Lex Luthor and in the couple of episodes I saw with him, I definitely didn’t like him. (The producers probably thought they were being clever - Jon Cryer played Lex Luthor’s silly nephew in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.)

Recently I resubscribed to MAX and decided to check out Superman & Lois… I randomly started with episodes in season 2. The major story arc involves a bizarro-type world in another dimension (cube sun, cube planet) where everyone speaks in reverse and all signage is backward. No white crystalline skin, but everyone there is more corrupt than the regular Earth. And the Big Bad is trying to merge the two versions of Earth.

I watched 5 episodes - 3 from mid season, and 2 from the end. There were elements I liked. Hoechlin has a soft spoken charisma (rizz?) and Tulloch definitely plays Lois as an equal in their partnership. The episodes I saw also emphasized Superman as a symbol of hope - so much more that the Zack Snyder movies. (I liked Cavill but those movies told us Superman represented hope, they didn’t demonstrate it.)

Another small point I liked… when characters fly… they don’t dilly dally… they fly with determination and speed.

The show has a large cast… and everyone stops to tell each other how they are feeling… every few minutes. So it’s a soap opera. There’s Lois & Clark, their 2 sons, Lana, her husband and 2 daughters, Henry Irons and his daughter Natalie, Sam & Lucy Lane, and a few more girlfriends and co-workers. There a holographic version of Superman’s mother Lars, and the Eradicator who is Clark’s half brother from Krypton!

That’s a lot of people explaining how they are feeling!

I think Hoechlin has worn several different suits between the Supergirl show and this one. Unfortunately I think his suit from season 2 is one of the worse super suit. Below is a closeup that shows the muted color and texture - it’s just unattractive. Someone brightened the colors of full body photo but it shows the other major problem with the suit - too much shading and an unnecessary attempt to “sculpt” muscles. All that shading looks fake. And the S shield looks glued on, not part of the suit.

I did learn that this show takes place on a different Earth than the Supergirl series. This explains why a different actor is playing Lex in this series.

MAX has 3 seasons available. A 4th season is currently airing on CW, I guess it will be added to Max later.

I totally understand what you mean though, I had so much trouble trying to understand the game mechanics as a beginner 😭😭

I researched a bit and added a few of my own tips for beginners, hope this helps! 🩷✨

Some tips I can share for beginners would be:

Send and accept friend requests: When going into battle you're able to use their cards. Some of those friends could have some really useful cards to use. I've had many instances where a card from a friend that I needed really helped.

Do not skip events: Many events can give you valuable resources and materials. These events may not give SSR Rank cards but they will give you an R Rank or SR Rank card if you participate in them. They give gems, thaumark and keys and other useful materials.

Save your gems: The game is playable in f2p and gives a normal amount of gems to do so, but do save your gems and don't waste them unless you really want or need a card. When it comes to Sam's shop there is a set that comes with 10 magical keys and is only 250 gems though it's only available once a month. By buying this set, it does save you a few gems. A normal 10 pull is 309 gems.

Team: When it comes to forming your team I recommend teaming them up based on the cards Duo Magic and Buddy Level. Train the cards that you would like, level them up and team them up based on Duo Magic/Buddy Level. The Characters give each other important boosts during battles based on their buddy level and could be a great help.

Lesson's: History lessons grant EXP that contributes to the cards level. The additional rewards are "Blooming Honey". Flight lessons grant EXP that contributes to the cards vignette level. The additional rewards are "Snacks". Alchemy lessons help increase the Buddy Level of cards, additional rewards are "Alchemy Tokens" and spell upgrades.

Card Ranks: Three different types of Rank cards. A R Rank card has a max level of 40 that can be extended to 60. A SR Rank card has a max level of 60 that can be extended to 80. A SSR Rank card has a max level of 80 that can be extended to 100.

When TWST allows you to pick a card to start the game, these are some beginner cards lots of people and I recommend (their info in there as well):

Riddle Dorm uniform – Highest ATK.

Leona Dorm Uniform – Highest HP.

Trey Dorm Uniform – High DEF and great healing.

Cater Ceremonial – His power boost is very good during the early game.

Rook Labwear – Decent HP and attack which helps beginners.

Malleus Ceremonial Robes – Gives power boost.

Card's: I recommend leveling and upgrading your cards one at a time. You want to upgrade all the cards or at least a few cards in each element. By doing this you can have a pretty big upper hand when doing battles because elementary bonuses play a pretty role in the game.

Tests: You should do these and try them as much as you do with the lessons. Unfortunately for me, I didn't know how much of a help doing these would have and didn't do them. Doing tests can give you interesting and good things when you get good results. They also help train your cards faster.

While I don’t think Sam is a bully really

I do think that as a teenager he would just go along with what his friends say because he is a sweet boy that just wants to fit in

Doesn’t wanna bully anyone at all just wants to be happy

Is popular but also not the most popular because he’s a golden retriever and isn’t really chasing popularity

Like yeah he wants to fit in but that doesn’t mean he cares about popularity really he just wants to be liked he doesn’t really care if he’s known or not

Kyle is really just a background character and we don’t really see him unless it’s like specific scenes with Max or like the aftermath.

So we don’t really know a lot other than he never really wanted to bully people but wanted to fit in with Max even to the point to where he doesn’t date anyone max tells him he can’t.

I do think that Sam would choose his friends over a significant other unless he actually genuinely loved them so I think he kinda fits this jock that’s not really mean but isn’t really helpful vibe

I would’ve chosen Ethan for Sam but Sam isn’t really a bad boy on the outside if I’m being honest.

Shane

Paul Matthews (The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals)

Mostly because I think it would be funny if he screamed at the top of his lungs for coffee

Also I think he wouldn’t enjoy watching a musical he hates the fact that everyone in them are either so happy or that they’re singing every five seconds

I would’ve probably chosen Paul for Harvey because of his love for coffee but I don’t think he would be this unhappy about everything

Again I don’t really see him as a bully

But I do think he could’ve been one in high school

Like Sam I think Alex just wants to fit in and be cool (especially because of his life) so as a teenager I could see him being an absolute asshole as a teen

Maybe not to Max’s level but like out of everyone I think he fits Max the most

I feel like Alex would be similar in that he doesn’t really have friends (Haley doesn’t really count for me because I feel like she’s using him as means to an end. As if she sees him as who she’s supposed to end up with because of their looks instead of actually caring for him)

Only people who either tell him what he wants to hear without truly caring or understanding (except for his grandparents)

Alex too would be happy if someone decided to go through the trouble of making an elaborate prank for him.

Him and Maru were the most difficult for me but ultimately I settled on him being Becky

Mostly because he’s a doctor and I’m pretty sure she’s a nurse

But also because I also think Harvey is brave enough to go through an abusive relationship and come out of it still wanting to help the world

Also because I also think he would kill an abusive asshole bc he’s hot like that

I think they would have the same values like everyone matters and just because you have money or a greater status doesn’t mean you can take advantage of people or act like an asshole

I also think it would take an ancient god to make him become a man without morals

I've been thinking about an Apocalypse Engine type game that has no shared or basic moves whatsoever, and only allows player characters to engage using playbook-specific movies, with zero functional overlap between playbooks; the biggest obstacle has been coming up with a narrative framing where that sort of absolute game-mechanical siloing actually makes sense.

I've thrown around ideas about robots, space aliens, and personified abstractions, and while going esoteric could work, it just occurred to me that I've been overthinking it: the described mechanical setup would also be a reasonable way to go about a tabletop adaptation of classic adventure games about quirky duos or trios where the principal challenge is figuring out how to organise their weirdly specific and strictly non-overlapping skill sets to perform seemingly basic tasks – e.g., stuff like The Lost Vikings or Sam & Max Hit the Road.

Restricting it to scenarios with at most two to three player characters (plus an optional GM) also avoids the problem of achieving the required level of game-mechanical siloing without making individual spheres of competence frustratingly narrow; it does, however, introduce the added challenge that divisions of responsibility which work for duos almost certainly won't work for trios, and vice versa, so the game would need two completely separate sets of playbooks!

Sam and Max had a very peculiar dynamic. they always had. (Well, sort of.)

The two of them were able to bounce off each other like nothing else. No matter what Sam said, his little buddy always had a wisecrack to bounce back at him. If Max had a hankering for a particular type of corn dog from a stand in Queens, it would be waiting for him on his desk before he ever had to ask. They were a duo through and through, rarely ever apart.

To be able to do this, you'd think they must know everything about each other. Every silly little fact, and every deep dark secret. The things that happen to make them who they are.

It was a day like any other, the city wallowing in its own filth as usual, with the added bonus of some new bullet holes in the sidewalk from a shootout between some of the local rats.

The titular duo were driving 'Lumpy', a pupil of Sam's (and an enemy of Max's) back to their apartment after a long initiation day that ended in both a microscopic and massive battle with very many very pissed off aquabears.

Sam was on the wheel, happily ignoring traffic laws as Max had his adorably freakish head stuck out the window, ears flapping back and forth in the wind.

Lumpy had been nodding off in the back seat for a while, and their head hit the side of the Desoto with a thump, rattle, and annoyed hiss from the engine. They really needed to look into getting an exorcism.

Sam twisted the radio on, not having the energy for small talk. He supposed getting kidnapped really sapped the pizzazz out of a guy. (He could hear Max in the back of his brain scolding him for thinking the word pizzazz.)

A few songs played, none particularly piquing his interest, and then a radio host started reading off various local news. Demons in the supermarket, alarming amount of asbestos found in shut-down theme park, man-eating chickens threaten to wipe out society as we know it, yada yada. Sam, tired of the stale stuff, flipped the knob to play a different frequency.

Max's shoulders sagged in what was presumably relief, and the two continued on their journey.

Hope no one get offended, but I always thought David was kind of a douche! But that's part of his charm I guess. I still can't help but like him tho...

I think a major part of that has to do with our perspective. Majority of the focus, unfortunately, is on Michael and Sam. Don't get me wrong I love our brotherly duo, but let's be honest, our fang baby boys are the stars of this picture.

In fact, the name Michael is actually the most said word in the entire film. That also means we're almost looking at the boys through this himbo's perspective. Yeah, I said himbo. Now I'm not saying Michael's a bad person- far from it. But, c'mon guys, he was a grade A dumbass. If you watch the film closely or even not I'm sure you've noticed 70% of his facial expressions and behavior is utter confusion, even angry confusion. It kind of cracks me up tbh. I think David is just enjoying it. Yeah he's a bit of an ass, but let's be fair; if you met some teen guy uber-stalking your friend(ish) on the boardwalk (and ladies, let's be honest with ourselves, if a guy awkwardly stared at you intensely from afar then FOLLOWED you all the way through the boardwalk no matter how far you walked, you'd kind of be creeped out) you'd probably be tempted to fuck around with him too, especially he shows up AGAIN the next several nights. Michael always just jumps into things, in all honesty he's thinking with his dick. Hear me out. He stared at Star the entire concert, then he followed Star for probably several blocks until she finally left, he came back the next night to find Star, he rides with the guys to impress Star, he hangs with them because it's around Star.

I've said before that if Michael had absolutely no significance to Max they probably would have killed him when Star failed to. Since David was told he couldn't, he just fucked around and pissed him off instead. Frankly, it was way too easy. I love David's cocky attitude like he knows more than Michael. I think the idea of him being this intellectual James Bond-type villain who's always two steps ahead is a crock of shit. That's the front he puts up. I mean of course Michael would see him that way, he thinks he's this monster who's trapped Star. Sam and the Frog's think that way because, well he's a vampire. Enough said. But I really don't think he's the mastermind he's portrayed as. Why? Because if he was, then he would have already known they had things like holy water or stakes ready when they attacked, he would've tried to sneakily be invited in rather than just dive head first. Remember, Max doesn't say "don't ever invite a HEAD vampire into your home", he says "don't ever invite a vampire into your home". Period. Meaning it's more than likely it's a fully encompassed vampire law, so if the boys had just gone the stealth route they might've survived. Maybe gotten Sam to join them too and killed any hunters, self proclaimed or otherwise. One could argue that they didn't know about the Frog brothers being "hunters" but c'mon now. If they tried to warn some random kid that shows up to their parent's comic shop, you really think they haven't said that to half the damn town? I bet at school they'es known as the "Crazy Toad Kids" or something, because I guarantee they'd either be intensely glaring at you, or spouting nonsense about vampires 24/7 the moment you speak to them.

So I don't exactly see David as this conniving, evil, brilliant puppet master. That's more Max's schtick. I think he just knows how to play to people's emotions, he knows how to manipulate and hypnotize until you don't know what's up and what's down. Not to be an ass, but I think if one were to target someone easy to take advantage of who's overly emotional, I'd probably go after people like Star and Michael as well. I agree though, its definitely a part of his charm. Remember these guys are the same age as when they were turned, and in the prequel script Joel Schumacher confirms that they were all turned at the same time, so they still have the mindset of teenagers allowed to run hog wild for 81 years. He was already a pretty suave motherfucker when he was alive, throw in some night time charm and you've got a vampire who thinks he's the hottest thing since the sun. So I wouldn't say "douche" per say, more so a very cocky and arrogant teenager who has been invincible and practically unchallenged for the better half of a century being confronted by this clueless horn dog too busy trying to get up Star's skirt to realize he just chugged a bottle of blood. But, even still, we can't resist that snowy-haired bastard! I know I certainly can't.
