Baked Salmon with Lemon and Thyme
My favorite salmon dish baked in the oven. This salmon is so simple to bake that it will quickly become a mainstay on your weekday menu. But I want to provide one crucial piece of advice right away: Instead of cooking the salmon pieces in a baking dish, use a sheet pan. With the former, the fish will cook evenly and avoid having raw centers and dried-out tops since the oven's heat will be able to circulate throughout the fish.
“Food is art, and food is love. And we should show love and appreciation for those who cook it by eating it with relish.” — Mark Bittman

The “you think this has nothing to do with you” scene in The Devil Wears Prada is so interesting to me, because on one hand:
It is precipitated by the protagonist openly scoffing at a discussion over which belt the model should wear because they look similar, which is a silly thing to do, both in the sense that of course visual details matter at a fashion photography shoot, and in the sense that it’s generally inadvisable to go to your workplace and let everyone know how stupid you think the work is; and
It is interesting to think about how fashion trends travel across different markets.
But, on the other hand:
I think that one is morally justified, if impolitic, to show disdain for an industry where everyone is always calling you fat and stupid and ugly. Normal workplace rules don’t exactly apply;
Miranda called her sweater ugly in the same scene! Is she not, by her own logic, responsible for the sweater’s ugliness? If she can sneer at clothing from less expensive retailers, why is it a problem for Andy to indifferently wear an affordable sweater and scoff at high fashion?;
Kind of embarrassing in 2006 for Miranda to not acknowledge the downmarket to upmarket fashion influence at all; and
Andy, as a member of society and a resident of a city that gets cold sometimes, kind of has to wear clothes. I don’t think any points are actually being made here.

i Love grocery stores that have a little section for discounted items that will hit their expiration date soon. not only because i love the incentive to lessen food waste, but because i really struggle to come up with What specifically to make for dinner every single day and it's a great little gacha game. i will be inspired to try ingredients i haven't used much before or that are usually a little too 'spensive for my usual habits. i just think it's good

"Eggers' version, a verbose and full-blooded Gothic melodrama, fleshes out the character of Ellen and accentuates the 'love' story. This aspect might remind some viewers of Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula, a movie that Eggers watched many times as a child..."
Well that is not very promising
Ohhh the impact of Francis' erotic fanfiction (derogatory)
The upside: Technically this is not Jonathan and Mina getting screwed over again. Huzzah.
The downside: Now Thomas and Ellen Hutter, the copyright skirting un-Harkers, are getting just as screwed over as their inspirations. Because not even the best directors are immune from the apparently desperate need to turn other people's work into a vampire fetish flick rather than just making their own characters to play with. Which is especially galling when the original Nosferatu's Ellen made her sacrifice explicitly to save Thomas and humanity at large from Orlok. I have my fingers crossed that Eggers will at least try to wring out a different gothic tragedy twist--one in which Ellen, now fully gothically enamored with Orlok for Reasons still acknowledges that he's a monster and to let him go on will mean death and misery for everyone. So she still goes through with the original film's ploy of distraction until sunrise, cue demise.
But considering this is the same guy behind The Witch and The Lighthouse, there may be a more sinister knife twist ending involved. Maybe a little closer to the 1979 version's gut punch, give or take some character swapping. I don't know.
On the one hand I am genuinely excited for this movie because Eggers is a master of atmosphere and building off the bones of folkloric horror for some seriously unnerving stories. On the other hand, I feel about this the same way I felt about Guillermo del Toro praising Francis' Dracula. Learning that a creator you deeply admire applauds a work (and a trend) you deeply deplore just sucks. No way around it. Sigh.

listen to me. brown ground pork in a pan with olive oil, salt, and pepper. add shallots and garlic once browned, stirring. add chopped summer squash with some paprika and a tiny bit of brown sugar. once the squash is nice and soft, add the zest and juice of a decently sized lemon. add cooked pasta to your pan along with some pasta water and serve. this will bring you far.

The bones have friends! I still like the empty sands better, but I'm not the one who made the tutorial :P Oh well, I'm getting practice in with certain features of Blender that I'm gonna be using a ton in the Tanta Sword Scenes, so I ain't complaining
Except that I liked the empty sands better lol
