i use As I Am brand dandruff shampoo. the problem with dandruff shampoo is that it really strips the fuck out of your hair. so it’s fine for straight hair but if you have curly hair that needs product to maintain moisture and hair health you’re fucked. i haven’t really found anything else out there personally that didn’t also dry the fuck out of my hair and basically make it a frizzy, dry, unhealthy mess.
Anyone else got chronic dandruff who has good tips on managing it? Coal tar has been the only thing to work for me (not zinc sadly) but i also have thick hair that needs hella moisturization so I'm trying to balance hair that needs to be washed a lot with less product to collect (dandruff) and hair that needs to be left alone with extra product (curly hair) god help me
#thanks to the shampoo i can go close to a full week without having to wash#and i don’t completely strip my hair of all moisture and nutrients every time#i still get some dandruff occasionally but it is MUCH better and far less noticeable#washing your hair with water that uses a water softener helps too but a water softener is fucking expensive#otherwise i’d look around the black people hair product section OP#selsun blue and head and shoulders fucking ruined my hair. and made the dandruff worse because now my hair was even drier than it was#before i started#also i am black so#the suggestions in the notes didn’t work for me cause they’re geared towards white people#and tea tree oil never did shit cause my scalp and hair wouldn’t absorb it#so it basically slid right off#salicylic acid makes my skin burn so i think i may be allergic#most oils also cause skin reactions for me#good luck tho OP let us all know what works for you when you get it sorted!

appearence; "is she glowing?" - glow up guide no.2
Hey love, how are you doin?
Today we'll cover the next part of our glow up journey - our looks. So without further ado, let's begin!
I prepared a list of things you can do in order to boost your looks, and take care of yourself at the same time, so you can glow up<3
FACE:
⟶ don't pick your pimples!!! It's the worst thing you can do when dealing with acne/spots/blackheads etc. Instead go see a dermatologist. You can also use salicylic acid, azelaic acid or pimple patches ⟶ start double cleansing to remove all makeup and dirts from your face. Use an oil cleanser first, and a water based one afterwards. ⟶ use vitamin C to brighten your skin and give it this healthy glow ⟶ diet is also very important to keep your face clean and glowy. Make sure you're not eating too much sugar and processed foods that may cause inflammation. ⟶ use makeup according to your face shape and to enhance your features. ⟶ depuff your face using ice cubes, gua sha and face massages ⟶ When you sleep on our side, your face is pressed against the pillow causing acne and wrinkles, so sleep on your back or invest in a silk/satin pillowcase to reduce friction. ⟶ make sure you're using spf 50 daily
BODY:
⟶ move your body! Find an acitivy that you enjoy and move your body daily. You can go to the gym, find a class (like pilates or spinning maybe?) or just workout at home, stretch or go on walks. I personally love dancing and stretching, and I also try to walk at least 10k steps a day. ⟶ check up at the doctors regularly to make sure you're healthy ⟶ make sure you're sleeping enough, this is very important if you want to feel and look your best. Studies recommend at least 7 hours for and adult, and minimum 8 hours for teenagers ⟶ diet, im sorry but this is key to a healthy lifestyle and body. A healty, balanced diet with lots of fruit and vegetables and whole foods is essencial. Make sure to get enough protein and healthy fats in. I am not a medical professional, so if you have any special needs, allergies or you are in treatment consult any dietetary changes with your doctor or a certified dietetician. ⟶ use a nourishing body wash and after the shower use a lotion to moisturise your skin. And use deodorant after every shower. ⟶ exfoliate using a scrub or an exfoliating glove once/twice a week to keep your skin soft ⟶ you can take a pumice stone to soften the rough skin on your feet, and make sure to clean and cut your toenails. ⟶ find a signature scent, I recommend perfumes as they last longer but scented mists are also good. Bonus points if you have a lotion in the same smell to enhance the scent. ⟶ this is optional, but if you'd like to take your body care to the next level, everything showers are amazing! I do one about every two weeks on sundays. This is the time for you to take a cozy bath, exfoliate, wash your hair, maybe do a face mask? There is no right or wrong for an everything shower, just make yourself feel good and clean the way you like it<3
HAIR:
⟶ wash your hair 2-4x a week depending on your needs. Don't wash your hair daily as it can cause damaged hair and a dry, itchy scalp. If your hair gets greasy easily, try to at least wash it every other day. ⟶ use a hair mask once a week ⟶ I find that the best hair care is according to your hair porosity. You can check it with the glass of water test. Simply take a clean, product-free strand of loose hair and put it in a glass of water. If the hair floats at the top then it is low porosity, if it sinks slowly or settles in the middle it is medium/normal porosity, and if it sinks straight to the bottom then it is high porosity. ⟶ every night before bed apply hair oil to your ends and put your hair in a protective hairstyle such as loose braid to keep it from damage while you sleep. ⟶ use rosemary or argan oil to grow and thicken your hair ⟶ trim split/damaged ends when needed ⟶ you can use a scalp scrubber to better clean all the dirt and scalp build up ⟶ avoid excessive heat and when you do, use heat protection
CLOTHES:
⟶ rather than buying every microtrend that exist, invest in quality pieces and create a capsule wardrobe. Keep in mind to adjust it to your own personal style, or if you don't have one you can look ideas up on pinterest. ⟶ wear accesories! Necklaces, bracelets, sunglasses etc can elevate your looks by 1000x! Find out whether gold or silver fits you the best, or maybe you find diamonds or pearls a better fit? ⟶ keep your clothes clean and neat, iron them when needed to avoid looking slumpy
ESSENTIALS:
⟶ brush your teeth 2x a day ⟶ brush and detangle your hair ⟶ use a lip balm to hydrate your lips ⟶ always keep a hand cream near to use when needed ⟶ get enough sleep ⟶ move your body and eat healthy ⟶ stay hydrated, drink at least 2l of water a day
That's everything for today sparkles, I hope you enjoyed this post and I am waiting for your comments on how your glow up journey is going<3

Hi! Do you have an easy peasy guide to skincare and hygiene for depressed dummies? 😃
Hi love! Sharing a high-level, basic skincare routine and hygiene tips to follow:
Morning Skincare:
Gentle facial cleanser & water
Vitamin C serum + hyaluronic acid
Facial moisturizer
Sunscreen designed for your face (at least SPF 50 – I think that this La Roche Posay SPF 60 choice is the best option for the money)
Apply sunscreen to your hands, neck, and any parts that will be exposed to the sun (Don't forget to use an SPF lip balm, too!)
Nighttime Skincare:
Remove any makeup (I love these Simple makeup wipes!)
Gentle cleanser
Toner/serums (only use AHAs like glycolic acid or lactic acid and retinol/retinoids at night, using them during the day can increase chances of sunburning)
Facial moisturizer (can be heavier than the one you use during the day, especially in the winter or if you have dry skin)
Spot treatments (if needed)
Eye cream
Skincare Extras:
Exfoliate your face 2-3 times/week (I love the First Aid Beauty Radiance Pads but the CeraVe Renewing Salicylic Acid Cleanser is a great drugstore option!)
Always use disposable cloths instead of a regular towel on your face to reduce bacteria, breakouts, or infections (I love the Clean Skin Club ones!)
Exfoliate your body 2-3 times a week using a dry brush or a scrub (I love the CeraVe Salicylic Acid Body Cleanser, but my favorite is the OUAI Sugar Scrub) and follow it up with a hydrating body moisturizer
Always exfoliate and moisturize before shaving, waxing, or other body hair removal treatments (look up the timeframes for the type of hair removal you choose)
Scrub under your nails daily with antibacterial soap & water and a nail brush
Vaseline is a versatile staple item that can be used as an affordable alternative to an eye cream, cuticle oil, lip balm, or hand cream, and can be used to treat any dry, cracked, or rough patches on the skin
Use a hand lotion and moisturizer on your feet with socks every night before bed
Aloe vera and coconut oil are great skincare staples to keep on hand to soothe burns, irritation, or inflamed skin
Haircare Tips:
Shampoo your skull, condition the rest: Focus shampoo on your roots and work it through your scalp; concentrate conditioner on the ends and work your way up until you reach the base of your skull - around your upper ear lobe
Always comb, never brush, your hair when wet: Gently use a wide-tooth comb, from root to tip, on wet hair to prevent breakage
Use a special towel to dry your hair: My favorite is from Crown Affair (pricey for what it is but worthwhile in the long-term), but a Turbie Twist from the drugstore works infinitely better than a regular towel that weighs down and causes frizzy, damaged hair
Always use a heat protection spray before blow drying or straightening/curling your hair: (Briogeo and Oribe products are my love for all haircare products, including their blowdry creams – also love R +Co. for a heat protection styling mist)
Choose your hair ties wisely: Use seamless or silk hair ties exclusively to prevent breakage or awkward creases on your hair. Wear a silk scrunchie if you prefer. These hair ties from Amazon are my holy grail (only $7 for 100 hair ties!), and they come in a portable ziplock bag
Use dryer sheets to minimize hair frizz and water or Vaseline to slick back fly-aways
Other Hygiene Tips:
Brush teeth, floss, & skincare (2x/day); Get a water pick, too, if you can!
Use a toothbrush cover at all times; Close the toilet seat before flushing
Wash your body towels at least once a week
Wash your pillowcases weekly and sheets at least once every 2 weeks
Throw out and replace your mascara every 2-3 months
Change your underwear and socks daily or more after sweating/working out
For those who menstruate, change your pad or tampon every 3-4 hours
Vulva owners: Use a fragrance-free soap on the outside, only water to clean the inside – no fancy wipes or douching. Wipe front to back!
Wear cotton underwear whenever possible; Find a fabric that breathes
Have a similar buttocks cleansing routine that you do for your face to prevent embarrassing zits or acne
Don't shave between waxes; Use tweezers if necessary a few days after your hair removal treatment
Always wash your hands before touching your face
Hope this helps xx

NOT SPONSORED JUST A PSA FROM A GIRLY GIRL ✨💅🏻
My hair type: I have straight, fine, low porosity, bleach damaged hair. it’s so so important to research what products go for what hair types.
(if you don’t bleach then remove the k18/olaplex products from this list. )
When I oil my scalp i use a blend of rosemary, vitamin E, jojoba (my queen), and mint oil on my scalp, and the derma e oil listed above and argan oil on my mids to ends, i don’t leave it much longer than 3 hours before washing. Look up which oils are best for your hair type before getting started bc you could do more harm than good.
My skin type is sensitive. I used to think i was oily bc of my acne but it turned out that BHAs and AHAs (salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide etc) were too strong for my skin and making my skin worse. also i was over exfoliating with manual exfoliators as chemical exfoliators. simplifying my routine and using products without harsh ingredients is what really changed my skin. figuring out your skin type is half the battle.
I also use a free app called Yuka to check if products have gross or harmful ingredients bc i’m paranoid.
My credentials:
context:
Hair: first set is 2015-2024, second set is 2021-2023
Skin: First pic is me from HS (yikes) second is from 2020 when i started my first skincare routine. that is a good example of what my skin looked like 24/7 365.
the bottom two are from the last month, the first has no makeup or filter. Yes i have a little foundation in the last pic before yall call me out.
MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE PRODUCTS YOU USE IS CONSISTENCY!
90% OF DAMAGE IS MECHANICAL DAMAGE WHICH MEANS DAMAGE THAT YOU PHYSICALLY CREATE YOURSELF! (while showering, brushing, sleeping, styling etc) BE GENTLE WITH YOUR HAIR AT ALL TIMES AND ALWAYS PROTECT IT WHILE YOU SLEEP! HAIR IS MOST SENSITIVE WHILE WET SO NEVER GO TO BED WITH WET HAIR AND BRUSH IT THROUGH BEFORE YOU GET IT WET!
I recommend getting a wet brush and a silk/satin scarf to wear at night, or to wear a loose braid on a satin pillowcase. (I also use a silk scarf to curl my hair overnight with no heat.)
If anybody has questions feel free to message me!

A Guide to Choosing the Right Shampoo
1. Understand Your Hair Type
The first step in finding the perfect shampoo is to understand your hair type. Knowing whether your hair is oily, dry, normal, curly, or color-treated can narrow down your options and guide you to the best ingredients and formulas.
Oily Hair: If your scalp tends to get greasy quickly, look for shampoos labeled as "clarifying" or "oil control." These formulas usually contain ingredients like tea tree oil, salicylic acid, or lemon extracts to help cleanse excess oil without drying out your scalp.
Dry Hair: For dry hair, opt for moisturizing or hydrating shampoos with ingredients like aloe vera, coconut oil, shea butter, or glycerin. These will help add moisture and reduce frizz, leaving your hair feeling softer and more manageable.
Curly or Coarse Hair: Curls often need extra moisture to stay bouncy and defined. Shampoos labeled "moisturizing," "nourishing," or "curl-enhancing" often contain ingredients like argan oil, jojoba oil, or proteins to strengthen curls and prevent breakage.
Color-Treated Hair: If you dye your hair, look for shampoos specifically designed for color-treated hair. These formulas are typically sulfate-free and have ingredients that help preserve color, like UV protectants or antioxidants.
Fine or Thin Hair: Lightweight, volumizing shampoos are ideal for fine or thin hair. Ingredients like biotin, rice protein, or keratin help to add volume without weighing down your hair, making it look fuller.
2. Know Your Scalp Needs
Your scalp’s health is just as important as your hair’s condition. Some people experience dandruff, sensitivity, or itchiness, which requires special attention.
Dandruff or Flaky Scalp: For dandruff, look for shampoos with ingredients like zinc pyrithione, salicylic acid, or ketoconazole, which help combat the fungi that cause dandruff. Avoid ingredients like sulfates and alcohols, as these can worsen dryness.
Sensitive Scalp: If you have a sensitive or easily irritated scalp, avoid products with harsh chemicals and fragrances. Choose a gentle, hypoallergenic, or sulfate-free shampoo with soothing ingredients like chamomile, aloe vera, or oat extract.
Itchy or Oily Scalp: If you experience oil buildup with itching, try a clarifying shampoo once a week to remove buildup. Look for ingredients like tea tree oil or peppermint, which have antimicrobial properties and a cooling effect to relieve itchiness.
3. Check the Ingredients List
Certain ingredients in shampoo are best avoided if you want to maintain the health of your hair and scalp. Here’s a quick rundown:
Sulfates: These are cleansing agents that create lather but can strip your hair of natural oils, making it dry and frizzy. Sulfate-free shampoos are milder and ideal for sensitive scalps, dry, curly, or color-treated hair.
Silicones: Although silicones add shine and smoothness, they can build up over time, making hair feel heavy and greasy. Use silicone-free options if you have fine hair or prefer a lighter feel.
Parabens: Parabens are preservatives used to extend shelf life. They have potential health risks, so many people prefer to use paraben-free shampoos.
Fragrances and Dyes: Artificial fragrances and dyes can irritate sensitive scalps and cause allergic reactions. Choose fragrance-free or naturally scented shampoos if you’re sensitive to these additives.
4. Consider Environmental Factors
Your environment can also influence the type of shampoo you need. For instance:
Hard Water: If you live in an area with hard water, look for a shampoo with chelating agents that can help remove mineral buildup. Chelating shampoos can help keep your hair from becoming dull and lifeless.
Humidity and Dry Weather: Humidity can lead to frizz, so look for anti-frizz shampoos with hydrating ingredients if you live in a humid climate. In dry weather, opt for moisturizing shampoos to prevent your hair from becoming too brittle.
5. Read Reviews and Patch Test
When trying a new shampoo, it’s always wise to read reviews from people with similar hair types and concerns. Additionally, do a patch test to check for any allergies or irritations. Apply a small amount of shampoo on the inside of your wrist or behind your ear and wait 24 hours to see if there’s a reaction.
6. Balance Your Routine
Finding the right shampoo is essential, but remember that a healthy hair routine doesn’t stop there. Avoid over-washing your hair, as this can strip it of natural oils. You can also benefit from adding a conditioner, a leave-in treatment, or a hair mask, depending on your hair’s needs.
Conclusion
Choosing the right shampoo involves understanding your hair and scalp type, reading ingredient labels, and balancing your routine with complementary products. A well-selected shampoo can make a significant difference in the health and appearance of your hair, so take the time to find one that’s perfectly tailored to your needs.

Somehow my hair has decided that it will infact be wavy or a very loose curl. I had been trying for years to figure this out. Huge thing is I have a lot of virgin hair on my head right now. Other thing is I have concentrated on scalp health for a year or more. My scalp issues were horrible. I went no sulfate for a long while then switched over to a salicylic acid and sulphur shampoo bar. Also doing deep oiling. The old Indian way.

Do you have any advice for really bad dandruff?
Actually, yes.
I used to suffer from psoriasis on my scalp, and a weekly glycolic acid treatment and Nizoral (plus stressing less!) cleared it for me, but my little brother suffers from much worse dandruff than I did, and these are the products I send to him that seem to work and keep it at bay:
The Inkey List BHA Scalp Treatment. I’d recommend applying this directly to your scalp, 30 minutes before you get in the shower or bath. It’s going to act to clean out your follicles and remove oil-based buildup from a gentler but deeper approach, unlike an AHA, which is more aggressive and surface-level.
Capasal Therapeutic Shampoo. This contains medical tar, 2% salicylic acid, and coconut oil—all of which are hard-hitters when it comes to a dry and flaky scalp. It doesn’t smell good, but it does work. Use before/instead of your usual shampoo, make sure that it’s scrubbed right in against your scalp, and follow the instructions to leave it in for the recommended length of time and remove it properly (there’s a special technique).
Eucerin Dermo-Capillaire Urea Scalp Treatment. This is a leave-in treatment, and I’d recommend applying after you’ve washed and roughly dried your hair, and then going in with a blow-dryer on low heat to fully dry your scalp. The urea is going to gently exfoliate and simultaneously moisturise and protect your scalp, and fully drying your hair is important to prevent fungal or bacterial infection on a delicate area.

Hair and Beauty Salon Secrets Revealed: Insider Tips for Gorgeous Locks and Flawless Skin
Unlocking Dubai's Beauty Trends: What's Hot in Hair and Skincare
Welcome to the vibrant world of beauty salon in Dubai, where innovation meets tradition, and luxury intertwines with culture. In this bustling metropolis known for its skyscrapers and desert landscapes, beauty is not just a concept but a way of life. From the latest hair and skincare trends to innovative treatments and personalized rituals, Dubai's beauty scene offers a tapestry of experiences that cater to every individual's unique style and preferences.
Hair Artistry: Customized Color Blends
Dubai's Hair and beauty salon are renowned for their artistry in creating customized color blends that enhance natural beauty. Embrace the trend of "root smudging" for a seamless transition between hair colors, minimizing harsh lines and creating a softer, more natural look. Ask your stylist about incorporating subtle highlights or lowlights to add dimension and depth to your hair color, achieving a personalized and stunning result.
Hair Care Routines: Nourish and Shine
To achieve luscious locks, start with a nourishing hair care routine. Use sulfate-free shampoos to retain moisture and follow up with a hydrating conditioner. Opt for regular hair spa treatments to strengthen your strands and prevent breakage. Ask your stylist about custom hair masks for an extra boost of hydration tailored to your hair type.
Skincare Regimes: Glow from Within
Living in Dubai's desert climate requires special attention to hydration in skincare, especially when indulging in the best facial in Dubai. Due to the arid environment, your skin may need extra nourishment to stay healthy and vibrant.
One effective strategy is to opt for skincare products enriched with desert botanicals like prickly pear oil or camel milk. These ingredients are renowned for their moisturizing and nourishing properties, providing your skin with the hydration it craves in a dry climate. Incorporating such products into your skincare routine can complement the benefits of your facial treatment, leaving your skin feeling refreshed and revitalized.
DIY Maintenance: Pamper at Home
Between salon visits, pamper yourself with DIY treatments for hair and skin. Create a nourishing hair mask using coconut oil, honey, and avocado to restore shine and softness. For glowing skin, try a homemade exfoliating scrub with sugar and olive oil to slough off dead cells and reveal a fresh complexion.
The Art of Hair Colouring: Trends and Tips
When it comes to hair color, Dubai's salons offer a spectrum of options to express your style. From balayage to bold hues, consult with a color specialist to find the perfect shade for your skin tone. Opt for ammonia-free dyes for a gentle yet vibrant color that lasts longer without damaging your hair.
Skincare Innovations: Science Meets Beauty
Dubai's best facial treatments combine science and luxury to transform your skin. Explore treatments like microdermabrasion, which uses tiny crystals to exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin's surface. For acne-prone skin, consider LED light therapy to reduce inflammation and promote healing. Hydration-focused facials with hyaluronic acid are perfect for plumping and hydrating dry or aging skin.
While focusing on hair beauty, don't forget the importance of scalp health. Dubai's salons offer innovative scalp treatments that promote healthy hair growth and scalp balance. Treat yourself to a scalp detox treatment to remove build-up and revitalize your scalp, followed by a soothing scalp massage using essential oils like tea tree or peppermint for a refreshing and invigorating experience.
Choosing the Right Facial: Tailored to Your Needs
Finding the best facial treatment in Dubai starts with understanding your skin concerns. For acne-prone skin, look for facials with salicylic acid or glycolic acid to unclog pores and prevent breakouts. Anti-aging facials often include ingredients like retinol and peptides to stimulate collagen production and reduce fine lines. Hydrating facials with hyaluronic acid and antioxidants are ideal for dry or dehydrated skin, restoring moisture and radiance.
With these insider tips and trends, you're equipped to embrace Dubai's beauty scene with confidence. From nourishing hair care routines to science-backed facial treatments, prioritize self-care and indulge in the transformative power of beauty rituals. Whether at the salon or at home, let your beauty shine inside and out.

your hair looks so healthy! can you share any tips you have to keep it healthy?
aw thank you boo xx i have actually worked for years to improve my hair's health because i used to bleach/dye it all the time. as far as tips go:
try to not use heat on it, i only use my airwrap after i left it to air dry about 70-80% and i always use a heat protectant
i get trims regularly. if you want to grow your hair out, i'd recommend haircut every 4-5 months. if not, even more often
i oil the roots once a week and also use a salicylic acid scrub when i get itchy/flaky scalp
i don't put my hair in tight buns, i only use satin/silk scrunchies or a hair clip, and i don't sleep with my hair untied, i usually just put it in a loose bun or a loose braid
xx hope this helps! good luck and smooches x

My Haircare Routine
Brush every day with the Crown Affair No. 3 brush (at least 2-3 times a day from root to tip)
Shampoo and condition my hair daily with the Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo & Conditioner with Avocado & Jojoba Oil (shampoo only on the scalp and conditioner only from the section from the bottom of the ear lobes to the ends)
Comb through wet hair with the Act + Acre Detangling Comb, apply Don't Despair, Repair! Split End Repair + Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner, and wrap it in the Crown Affair The Towel to dry for around 10 minutes
Apply the Briogeo Farewell Frizz Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant Cream on the ponytail portion of my hair, and blow dry it with a Conair 1875 Watt Hair Dryer and the Dry Bar Full Pint Medium Ceramic Thermal Round Hair Brush
Finish the blowout by brushing my hair through with the Crown Affair No. 3 brush and Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil UV Protective Dry Oil Finishing Spray
Haircare Extras:
IGK FIRST CLASS Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo works wonders for times my hair needs a pick-me-up or I don't have the time to wash it
I use Briogeo Don't Despair Repair Rice Water Protein + Moisture Strengthening Treatment and R + Co Hair Mask 1-2 times a month (usually in the winter/dry or cold months more often, please follow the directions if you try the treatment!)
In the summer, I'll sometimes use the R + Co Mood Swing Straightening Spray before blowdrying to prevent frizziness or random wavy pieces from ruining the sleek look
These hair ties from Amazon are my holy grail (only $7 for 100 hair ties!), and they come in a portable ziplock bag
if your hair is in major need of some TLC from itchy scalp or build-up, the Act + Acre BHA Salicylic Acid Scalp Exfoliator is the perfect reset to recover from using incompatible products on your hair or recovering from extreme weather conditions, styling, or coloring
For reference: I have thick, mostly straight, and untreated (not colored, all natural) hair. I get my hair cut around 3 times a year with long layers down to around 1-2 inches below my shoulders with face-framing layers. My stylist says that my hair is always in perfect condition with no split ends in-between visits, so this routine plus a healthy, plant-based diet seems to be doing the trick!
Hope this helps xx
