Possible salicylate sensitivity through topical exposures I hadn't even thought of
This is a topic I’ve danced around but largely avoided for ages as it was almost too much to consider I might be sensitive to salicylates on top of my oxalate and gluten sensitivities (amongst others) but when you are prone to MCAS (which is often likely when you have EDS…) you have to eventually leave no stone unturned, especially when strong symptoms arise out of the blue. In my own case, I’ve…

skincare practices
skincare refers to the practice of maintaining and improving the health and appearance of your skin. this post is a guide on where to start!
having a routine (starting with simple practices)
cleanser: begin and end your day by washing your face with a gentle, sulphate-free cleanser. even if your skin feels clean, this step removes any impurities.
moisturizer: apply a fragrance-free moisturizer twice a day. hydration is crucial for maintaining a healthy skin barrier.
sunscreen: protect your skin from uv damage by using a mineral- or chemical-based sunscreen with at least spf 30. apply it in the morning.
skin types
there are 5 primary skin types, each with unique characteristics and needs.
normal skin is balanced and not too oily or dry. it's like the goldilocks of skin types! maintain it with a gentle routine. if your skin is generally normal, opt for a lotion. as you age, consider switching to a cream-based moisturizer for added hydration.
dry skin lacks hydration, feels tight, and may have flakiness. opt for richer moisturizers with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides. for dry skin, skip lotions and go for creams or ointments. these provide more moisture and help preserve water in the skin.
oily skin produces excess oil, especially in the t-zone (forehead, nose, and chin). use lightweight, oil-free products and consider salicylic acid for acne-prone areas. if you’re prone to oiliness, choose a light gel-based moisturizer to avoid clogging pores.
combination skin is a mix of oily and dry areas. focus on balancing - light moisturizers for oily zones and richer ones for dry areas. treat your face as two zones. moisturize the dry areas and skip the oily ones. remember to look for spf 30 or higher for sun protection!
sensitive skin is prone to redness, irritation, and reaction. choose fragrance-free, hypoallergenic products and patch-test any new products.
common skincare mistakes
skipping sunscreen. sunscreen is non-negotiable! protect your skin from uv damage by using spf 30 or higher daily. if you live in a sunny environment, make sure to reapply before you go outside!
not cleansing before bed: properly cleanse your face before sleeping. it removes dirt, makeup, excess oil, and pollution remnants, preventing breakouts and maintaining healthy skin.
sleeping with makeup on. gross! no! remove your makeup before you go to bed to prevent clogged pores and skin irritation.
using too many products. overloading with products can overwhelm your skin, so learn how to simplify your routine. additionally, using products that are not right for your skin may have negative effects - creating more issues instead of solving them.
overusing acne products. be gentle with acne treatments. overuse can lead to dryness and irritation.
using harsh products. avoid aggressive ingredients that strip your skin. opt for gentle formulations.
remember - healthy skin starts with mindful habits.

How to Choose the Perfect Face Serum for Your Skin
Face serums are one of the most potent skincare products available today. These lightweight, highly concentrated formulas deliver active ingredients deep into the skin, targeting specific concerns such as wrinkles, pigmentation, dehydration, and acne. Choosing the right face serum can seem overwhelming with so many options available, but understanding your skin type and needs can make the decision process much easier. Here’s a guide to help you choose the perfect face serum for your skin.
1. Identify Your Skin Type
Before selecting a face serum, it's essential to know your skin type. Different serums are formulated to address different concerns depending on your skin’s needs:
Oily Skin: Look for lightweight, oil-free serums that won’t clog your pores. Serums containing salicylic acid or niacinamide can help balance oil production and reduce acne.
Dry Skin: If your skin tends to be dry, opt for serums with hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or ceramides. These ingredients help attract moisture and keep the skin plump and nourished.
Combination Skin: For combination skin, choose a serum that hydrates without overloading oil-prone areas. A serum with both hydrating and balancing ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid combined with niacinamide, works well.
Sensitive Skin: If your skin is sensitive or prone to irritation, go for serums with calming ingredients such as aloe vera, chamomile, or centella asiatica. Avoid serums with harsh exfoliants or strong fragrances.
Normal Skin: If you have normal skin, you can choose serums with a mix of active ingredients for anti-aging, hydration, or overall skin health.
2. Understand Your Skin Concerns
Once you know your skin type, the next step is to identify the specific skin concerns you want to address. Different serums target different problems, and knowing your concerns will help you choose the right formula.
Anti-aging: If you’re looking to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, look for serums that contain ingredients like retinol, peptides, or vitamin C. These ingredients stimulate collagen production and fight signs of aging.
Hyperpigmentation: If you’re dealing with dark spots or uneven skin tone, opt for serums with brightening agents such as vitamin C, licorice extract, or alpha arbutin. These ingredients help fade pigmentation and even out skin tone.
Acne: If acne is a concern, look for serums that contain salicylic acid, tea tree oil, or niacinamide. These ingredients are known for their anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, which can help reduce breakouts.
Hydration: Dehydrated skin benefits from serums with humectants like hyaluronic acid, which draws moisture into the skin, leaving it plump and refreshed.
3. Consider the Ingredients
When choosing a face serum, always check the ingredient list. Look for high-quality, active ingredients that address your skin concerns. Some popular ingredients include:
Hyaluronic Acid: A powerful hydrating ingredient that helps retain moisture and plump the skin.
Vitamin C: An antioxidant that brightens skin, evens skin tone, and protects from environmental damage.
Retinol: A derivative of Vitamin A, known for its anti-aging benefits by stimulating collagen and speeding up cell turnover.
Peptides: Chains of amino acids that help repair the skin barrier and improve elasticity.
Niacinamide: Also known as Vitamin B3, niacinamide helps with skin barrier repair, reduces redness, and balances oil production.
4. Test Before Full Use
Once you’ve chosen a serum, it’s always a good idea to patch-test the product before applying it to your entire face. This helps you avoid potential irritation, especially if the serum contains potent ingredients like retinol or vitamin C.
5. Consistency is Key
Lastly, consistency is critical when it comes to serums. You may not see immediate results, but with regular use, you should start noticing visible improvements in your skin’s texture and appearance over time.
In conclusion, choosing the perfect face serum for your skin involves understanding your skin type, identifying your skincare concerns, and selecting the right ingredients. With the right serum, you can target specific issues and enjoy healthier, glowing skin.

Easy Glass Skin Routine for Oily Skin
Achieving the sought-after “glass skin” look doesn’t have to be complex or time-consuming, even for those with oily skin. With a few targeted steps, you can enjoy a radiant, smooth complexion that glows with health and vitality. Here’s a simple, effective routine from Glasskinsecrets that caters specifically to those with oily skin types, promoting a balanced, glassy finish.
Step 1: Gentle Cleansing
Start your routine by using a gentle, oil-balancing cleanser. Avoid harsh cleansers that strip natural oils, as this can lead to overproduction of sebum, which can make oily skin feel even greasier. Opt for a cleanser with ingredients like green tea or salicylic acid to help remove excess oil without drying out the skin.
Step 2: Exfoliation
Exfoliating once or twice a week is key to a smooth, glassy texture. Choose a gentle chemical exfoliant, like one with AHAs or BHAs, to clear away dead skin cells and unclog pores without scrubbing, which can irritate sensitive or oily skin. This step helps refine your skin’s texture, making it smooth and even.
Step 3: Hydration
Even oily skin needs hydration! A lightweight, gel-based moisturizer is ideal, providing hydration without leaving a greasy film. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid or glycerin that draw moisture into the skin, plumping it and giving it a fresh, dewy appearance. Hydration is crucial for creating that bouncy, glassy effect, so don’t skip this step!
Step 4: Serums and Treatments
Serums are potent and effective for achieving specific skincare goals. For glass skin, a serum with niacinamide or vitamin C can brighten and even out your skin tone. These ingredients also help control excess oil production, making them a great choice for oily skin types. Apply a small amount of serum, focusing on any dull or uneven areas.
Step 5: Lightweight SPF
The final step in your routine should always be sunscreen. Opt for a lightweight, oil-free SPF to protect against sun damage while maintaining your glassy glow. The right SPF will guard your skin without adding any extra shine, leaving it smooth and protected.
Conclusion
Achieving glass skin for oily skin types is all about balance—hydrating and refining without overloading your skin. This easy routine from Glasskinsecrets allows anyone to enjoy a radiant, glass-like complexion, while managing oil and shine. With a commitment to these simple steps, you can unlock the secret to beautifully clear, dewy skin.

Achieving luscious locks begins with the foundation of hair care: a healthy scalp. 'Nourish Your Roots: Top Shampoos to Maintain a Healthy Scalp' is an insightful guide dedicated to helping you understand the significance of scalp health and how to choose the right shampoos that promote hair growth and scalp nourishment. From the importance of ingredients to avoiding harmful chemicals, this article will provide you with the essential information to select the best shampoo for a thriving scalp environment. Key Takeaways A healthy scalp is crucial for hair growth, and selecting shampoos that focus on scalp nourishment can significantly impact hair health. Ingredients such as caffeine, rosemary oil, peppermint oil, biotin, keratin, and proteins are key for stimulating hair growth and strengthening hair strands. Natural products may take longer to show results; patience and consistent use are necessary when testing new shampoos for scalp and hair health. It is essential to avoid shampoos containing sulfates, parabens, and artificial fragrances, as they can be detrimental to scalp health and hair quality. Some of the top recommended shampoos for maintaining a healthy scalp include OLAPLEX No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo, Sachajuan Normal Hair Shampoo, and Neutrogena Soothing & Calming Healthy Scalp Shampoo. Understanding Scalp Health and Its Importance The Role of a Healthy Scalp in Hair Growth I've come to understand that a healthy scalp is the bedrock of hair growth. It's not just about the hair itself; the scalp needs regular maintenance to create the right environment for hair follicles to thrive. Daily care routines are essential, including cleansing, nourishing, and occasional deep treatments to maintain scalp health. Cleansing to remove buildup Nourishing with essential oils and vitamins Occasional deep treatments for extra care A nourished scalp supports the hair's natural growth cycle and prevents issues that can lead to hair loss or thinning. It's a crucial aspect of hair care that shouldn't be overlooked. I've learned that ingredients like caffeine, rosemary oil, and peppermint oil are not just buzzwords; they genuinely stimulate the scalp and encourage hair growth. It's important to give these ingredients time to work, as natural products often show results gradually. Patience is key when incorporating new products into your hair care regimen. Common Scalp Issues and How to Address Them When I first noticed the persistent irritation on my scalp, I realized that understanding common scalp conditions was crucial. Conditions like dandruff, psoriasis, and seborrheic dermatitis can cause discomfort and impact hair health. To address these issues, it's important to identify the specific condition and use targeted treatments. For instance, ingredients such as tea tree oil and salicylic acid are beneficial for soothing the scalp and reducing inflammation. A shampoo that contains these ingredients can help combat hair loss associated with a dry scalp. Moreover, for those of us with a combination of dry scalp and oily hair, finding a shampoo that balances scalp moisture without overloading the hair with oil is key. It's essential to choose a shampoo that is specifically formulated for your scalp condition. Reading labels and understanding ingredients can lead to better choices for scalp care. Here's a list of ingredients that I've found helpful in shampoos for various scalp issues: Tea tree oil: soothes and has antifungal properties Ketoconazole: fights fungal infections Salicylic acid: helps with cell turnover Coal tar: slows skin cell growth Remember, patience is necessary when trying new products, as the scalp may take time to respond to treatment. Ingredients That Promote Scalp Nourishment When I delve into the world of hair care, I'm always on the lookout for ingredients that will not only improve the appearance of my hair but also ensure the health of my scalp. A well-nourished scalp is the bedrock of healthy hair growth, and certain ingredients are key to achieving this.
Here's a list of some of the most beneficial ingredients I've found: Biotin, Keratin, and Proteins: Essential for strengthening hair strands. Aloe Vera and Oils (like Argan and Jojoba): Provide deep moisture and nourishment. Herbal Extracts (such as Saw Palmetto and Nettle): Known for their role in combating hair thinning. Vitamins (especially Vitamin E and B): Crucial for promoting scalp health and hair growth. It's important to remember that while these ingredients are beneficial, they should be complemented with a shampoo free from sulfates, parabens, and artificial fragrances to avoid any potential harm to your scalp. In my journey, I've also discovered that ingredients like Apricot kernel oil and sunflower nutrients are fantastic for a dry scalp, while banana fruit and rosemary leaf oil offer strength and anti-inflammatory benefits. It's fascinating how diverse the range of beneficial ingredients can be, from Niacinamide, a keratin booster, to caffeine and peppermint oil that stimulate the scalp. The trial and error process can be lengthy, but patience is key, as natural products take time to show their true effects. Choosing the Right Shampoo for Hair Growth Stimulation Key Ingredients That Encourage Hair Growth When I delve into the world of hair care, I'm always on the lookout for shampoos that promise not just to cleanse, but also to enhance hair growth. The right ingredients can make all the difference in nurturing thinning hair and maintaining a healthy scalp. Here's a list of ingredients I've found to be particularly effective: Biotin, Keratin, and Proteins: Essential for strengthening hair strands. Aloe Vera and Oils (like Argan and Jojoba): Key for moisturizing and nourishing. Herbal Extracts (Saw Palmetto and Nettle): Known to combat hair thinning. Vitamins (especially Vitamin E and B): Crucial for promoting scalp health and hair growth. It's crucial to ensure that the shampoo is free from sulfates, parabens, and artificial fragrances, which can be harsh on the hair and scalp. In my experience, incorporating ingredients such as niacinamide and cayenne can also boost keratin levels and stimulate the scalp, promoting healthier, thicker hair. It's a journey of discovery, finding the perfect blend that works for you. Top Shampoos with Hair Growth Promoters When I embarked on my journey to boost hair growth, I discovered a plethora of shampoos each claiming to be the elixir for luscious locks. Finding the right shampoo is a game-changer for anyone struggling with thinning hair. Here's a list of some top shampoos that have been recognized for their hair growth promoting qualities: Best Clarifying Formula Shampoo: Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Shampoo Best Clinical-Strength Formula Shampoo: Rogaine 2% Minoxidil Topical Solution for Hair Thinning and Loss Best Shampoo for Curly Hair: Mielle Pomegranate & Honey Shampoo Best Shampoo for Natural Hair: African Pride Moisturizing Shampoo Honey & Coconut Oil Shampoo Best Shampoo for Straight Hair: Virtue Labs Flourish Shampoo for Thinning Hair It's essential to look for ingredients that nourish the scalp and hair. Ingredients like caffeine, rosemary oil, and peppermint oil are known to stimulate the scalp and encourage hair growth. I've learned that while some shampoos may work wonders for others, they might not yield the same results for me. It's important to remember that patience is key, as natural products often work their magic over time. After all, a healthy scalp is the foundation for strong hair growth. Natural Alternatives for Hair Growth When I explore natural alternatives for hair growth, I often turn to ingredients that have stood the test of time. Oils such as coconut, macadamia nut, rosemary, and tea tree have been praised for their anti-inflammatory properties, which can soothe the scalp and foster a healthy environment for hair to thrive. In my journey, I've learned that patience is key. Natural products work in harmony with your body's rhythms, which means benefits may manifest gradually.
Coupling organic shampoos with a balanced lifestyle and proper hair care regimen is essential for achieving the best results. Here's a list of ingredients I look for in natural shampoos: Biotin, Keratin, and Proteins: To strengthen hair strands. Aloe Vera and Oils (like Argan and Jojoba): For moisturizing and nourishing. Herbal Extracts (such as Saw Palmetto and Nettle): Known to combat hair thinning. Vitamins (especially Vitamin E and B): To promote scalp health and hair growth. It's also crucial to ensure the shampoo is free from sulfates, parabens, and artificial fragrances, which can be harsh on the hair and scalp. Remember, the foundation for solid hair growth begins with a nourished scalp. The Trial and Error of Finding Your Perfect Shampoo Why Patience is Key with Natural Hair Care Products When I embarked on my natural hair care journey, I quickly learned that patience isn't just a virtue; it's a necessity. Just like a fitness regimen requires commitment before visible changes occur, hair health products require patience and dedication. The transition to natural solutions often means a gradual shift in the health and appearance of your hair. It's not just about selecting a product but about embracing a holistic approach that includes meticulous ingredient scrutiny, prioritising scalp health, and being patient with results. Natural ingredients, such as essential oils and aloe vera, work in harmony with your hair's biology, but they may take time to show their full effect. Here's what I keep in mind during this process: The importance of understanding my unique hair type and needs. The value of investing time in research and consultation for healthier, fuller hair. The expectation that benefits from natural products may manifest gradually. As I continue to explore the best products for my hair, I remind myself that nature often holds the best remedies, and the most rewarding outcomes are worth the wait. How to Effectively Test New Shampoos When I embark on the journey to find the perfect shampoo, I start by considering my hair type and concerns. I've learned that the effectiveness of a shampoo is highly individual, and what works for one may not work for another. To effectively test new shampoos, I follow a systematic approach: First, I identify my hair's needs, whether it's hydration, volume, or scalp health. Then, I select a shampoo that targets these specific concerns, ensuring it aligns with my hair type. I use the shampoo consistently for several weeks, as natural products often take time to show results. During this period, I monitor my hair's response, looking for improvements in cleanliness, health, and overall appearance. It's crucial to give each shampoo a fair trial, allowing enough time for my hair to adjust and for any benefits to become apparent. After extensive review, we rounded up the best shampoos for many hair concerns that we tested in 2024, including picks for colored hair, hair growth, and more. While testing, I also pay attention to the practical aspects, such as the value and the sensory experience the shampoo provides. Ultimately, finding the right shampoo is a personal journey that requires patience and attention to detail. When to Expect Visible Results When I embarked on my journey to find the perfect shampoo, I was eager to see improvements. However, I quickly learned that patience is a virtue when it comes to hair care. Many hair growth products, including shampoos, require a consistent application over a period of time before noticeable results can be seen. Here's a general timeline I discovered: 1-2 months: Initial changes may be subtle, such as reduced hair fall. 3-6 months: More significant signs of regrowth or thicker hair may become apparent. 6+ months: Full benefits and transformation of hair's appearance can be expected. It's essential to remember that everyone's hair is unique, and these timeframes are approximate. Factors like genetics, overall health, and the extent of hair issues can influence the duration of visible results.
I also found that while some users report quick improvements, especially with products designed for immediate volume, the true test of a shampoo's effectiveness lies in its long-term impact on hair health. For instance, after two months of consistent use, one customer was thrilled to see a significant amount of baby hair regrowth. This reinforces the importance of giving products ample time to work their magic. As I continued my search, I made sure to monitor my hair's progress and adjust my expectations accordingly. Ingredients to Look for in a Quality Shampoo Strengthening Agents: Biotin, Keratin, and Proteins When I delve into the world of hair care, I'm constantly reminded of the importance of strengthening agents like biotin, keratin, and proteins. These ingredients are the building blocks for robust hair fibers, and their presence in a shampoo can make a significant difference in hair health. Biotin, often hailed as a hair growth miracle, works in tandem with keratin, the protein that makes up the majority of our hair. Together, they repair and reinforce hair strands from within. Proteins, on the other hand, are essential for filling in the gaps in damaged hair and providing it with the structure it needs to grow strong and resilient. It's not just about the immediate effects; these ingredients contribute to a long-term improvement in hair texture and strength. I've come across a variety of shampoos that incorporate these key components. For instance, a product that caught my eye was the Vitamins Keratin Shampoo Hair Treatment. It's a sulfate-free option that combines biotin and collagen protein with castor oil, catering to different hair types from curly to straight. Moisturizing and Nourishing Components When I delve into the world of shampoos, I prioritize those with moisturizing and nourishing components. These ingredients are crucial for maintaining a healthy balance of moisture in both my hair and scalp. Amino acids, for instance, are excellent for cleansing without stripping away natural moisture, which is particularly beneficial for chemically processed hair. Panthenol is another ingredient I look for, as it not only moisturizes but also reinforces the hair. Hydrating ingredients such as glycol stearate and sodium PCA are blended in some of the best formulas I've come across, offering a soothing and moisturizing experience. In addition to these, natural ingredients like tea tree oil, aloe vera, and coconut oil have proven to be indispensable in my hair care routine. They provide hydration and nourishment, which are essential for a healthy scalp. It's also important to avoid shampoos with harsh chemicals like sulfates and parabens, as they can be detrimental to scalp health. Here's a list of ingredients that I've found to be particularly effective for moisturizing and nourishing: Coconut oil Argan oil Shea butter Aloe vera Hyaluronic acid Ceramides Hydrolyzed wheat protein Each of these components plays a role in ensuring that my hair remains hydrated and well-nourished, leading to a healthier and more vibrant appearance. Herbal Extracts and Vitamins for Hair and Scalp Health When I delve into the world of hair care, I'm always on the lookout for products that not only improve the appearance of my hair but also enhance its health from the roots up. Herbal extracts and vitamins are pivotal in maintaining a healthy scalp and promoting hair growth. For instance, I've learned that ingredients like green tea extract and rosemary leaf oil are not just trendy buzzwords; they carry potent properties that can protect and nourish both hair and scalp. In my journey, I've discovered that a balanced approach to scalp care is essential. It's not just about the hair strands but also about creating a healthy environment for hair to thrive. Here's a quick rundown of some key ingredients I've come across: Biotin, Keratin, and Proteins: These are the building blocks for strong hair. Aloe Vera and Oils (such as Argan and Jojoba): They provide the much-needed moisture and nourishment.
Herbal Extracts (like Saw Palmetto and Nettle): Known to help with hair thinning. Vitamins (especially Vitamin E and B): They are essential for scalp health and hair growth. While exploring various products, I make it a point to avoid shampoos with sulfates, parabens, and artificial fragrances, as they can be detrimental to scalp health. It's a delicate balance, but when you find the right shampoo, it's like discovering a secret garden of hair wellness. Avoiding Harmful Chemicals in Scalp Care Products The Impact of Sulfates, Parabens, and Artificial Fragrances I've learned that the journey to a healthy scalp can be hindered by certain ingredients commonly found in haircare products. Sulfates, parabens, and artificial fragrances are not just words on an ingredient list; they are substances that can have a detrimental effect on our scalp and hair health. Sulfates are known to strip hair of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation. Parabens, while used as preservatives, can mimic estrogen and disrupt hormonal balance. And artificial fragrances, often hiding phthalates, are potential endocrine disruptors. It's essential to be mindful of these ingredients, as they can send our hair growth journey in the wrong direction. Here's a quick list of ingredients to avoid in shampoos: Sulfates (harsh detergents that dry the scalp) Parabens (preservatives that can disrupt hormonal balance) Artificial fragrances (may contain phthalates, which are endocrine disruptors) Silicones (prevent healthy ingredients from penetrating the hair shaft) Formaldehyde and DMDM Hydantoin (preservatives linked to allergies and irritation) By avoiding these ingredients, we not only protect our scalp but also ensure that the beneficial nutrients from our shampoos can effectively nourish our hair. How to Identify Safe and Gentle Shampoos In my quest for a healthy scalp, I've learned to scrutinize labels and ingredients meticulously. Avoiding shampoos with harsh sulfates, parabens, and phthalates is crucial as they can strip away natural oils and cause irritation. Instead, I look for products boasting natural ingredients like tea tree oil, aloe vera, and coconut oil, which are known for their hydrating and soothing properties. When it comes to shampoo, the absence of certain ingredients is as important as the presence of beneficial ones. Here's a quick checklist I use to identify safe and gentle shampoos: Natural ingredients such as essential oils and plant-derived surfactants Free from sulfates, parabens, and phthalates Mild or natural fragrance to avoid scalp irritation Packaging that is practical and minimizes waste, like bottles with pumps Remember, a gentle shampoo should cleanse without stripping hair of its natural moisture, leaving it soft and the scalp comfortable. Patience is key, as finding the right product may take some trial and error. Recommended Shampoos Free from Harsh Chemicals After learning about the potential harm caused by sulfates, parabens, and artificial fragrances, I've become more vigilant in selecting shampoos that are kind to my scalp and hair. I prioritize products with natural ingredients, ensuring they're free from toxins that can strip away essential oils or cause irritation. Natural Ingredients: Essential oils, aloe vera, coconut-derived surfactants No Toxins: Free from sulfates, parabens, silicones, phthalates Sensitive Scalp Friendly: No dyes, masking fragrances, or other irritants It's not just about what's in your shampoo, but also what isn't. Choosing a shampoo that respects the natural balance of your scalp can make a significant difference in your hair's health and appearance. I've discovered that patience is key when transitioning to gentler hair care products. It may take some time to adjust, but the results are worth it. Here's a list of shampoos I've found to be effective and gentle: Vanicream Free & Clear Shampoo SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo Avalon Organics Biotin B-Complex Thickening Shampoo
Remember, everyone's hair is unique, so what works for me might not work for you. It's essential to listen to your hair and scalp and adjust your care routine accordingly. ConclusionIn the quest for luscious locks, the importance of a healthy scalp cannot be overstated. The shampoos highlighted in this article have been carefully selected for their ability to nourish the scalp, strengthen hair strands, and promote hair growth. From the stimulating effects of caffeine and rosemary oil to the moisturizing benefits of aloe vera and argan oil, each product brings something unique to the table. While avoiding harmful chemicals like sulfates and parabens is crucial, incorporating ingredients such as biotin, keratin, and various herbal extracts can make a significant difference in your hair care routine. Remember, patience is key; give these shampoos a fair trial to witness their full potential. Ultimately, the best shampoo for you is one that caters to your specific scalp and hair needs, so don't hesitate to experiment until you find your perfect match. How long should I test a new shampoo before deciding if it's effective? It's recommended to give a new shampoo at least a few weeks to show results, as natural products work gradually and hair cycles vary from person to person. What harmful chemicals should I avoid in scalp care products?Avoid shampoos containing sulfates, parabens, and artificial fragrances, as these can be harsh on the scalp and potentially lead to irritation or damage. Can you recommend some shampoos that are effective for maintaining a healthy scalp?Yes, some top recommendations include OLAPLEX No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo, SACHAJUAN Normal Hair Shampoo, Nécessaire's fragrance-free formula, Pantene Micellar Shampoo, and Adwoa Beauty Baomint Moisturizing Shampoo.

Is Jojoba Oil Good For Face? 16 Best Benefits
Tumblr media
Jojoba oil is a fluid of the Simmondsia Chinensis seedlings, a shrub that comes from Southerly Arizona, Southern California, and Northwest Mexico. The oil accounts for about 50% of the jojoba seed by weight. But is jojoba oil good for face?
What Is Jojoba Oil?
Tumblr media
The terms "jojoba oil" and "jojoba wax" are often used interchangeably, as the wax is visually moving oil. It consists almost entirely of (97 percent) long-chain fatty acid and alcohol monoesters (wax esters), together with just a small fraction of triglycerides. This composition is responsible for its extreme shelf-life and exceptional resistance to high temperatures compared to true vegetable oils. The jojoba is a heart-rending, perennial plant in North America. It not only thrives in harsh, desert environments, which could kill most living things; it also produces a nozzle with many healing properties. The jojoba plant's nut can be produced in an oil. Jojoba oil is soft enough to mix with other essential oils as a carrier oil. You can use it on your own, too. As part of their skin treatment routine, many people use jojoba oil. And for that, there are good reasons. A wealth of evidence supports the use of pure jojoba oil as a remedy for acne, dry skin, and countless other skin conditions.
Is Jojoba Oil Good For Face?
Tumblr media
Is jojoba oil good for face? Here are some of the reasons why you should try jojoba oil for your skincare routine! It relieves dryness. Jojoba oil closely imitates the skin's own sebum and makes it an effective natural conditioner—good news for anyone with dry or irritated skin. You should always use it in the final skincare phase as jojoba oil seals in moisture. It removes makeup. What if this all-natural ingredient can dissolve and whisk away everything from sunscreen to waterproof mascara on a separate maker remover or oil cleanser? Active overloads. Since jojoba oil can penetrate the skin matrix throughout, it can contribute to the ferry active ingredients such as salicylic acid and retinol, enabling them to do their best work. It protects from damage to the sun. Jojoba is the only plant in the world known for producing pure liquid wax esters. It places these long molecules into the outer layer of its leaves to prevent UVB rays from penetrating its leaves. It balances oily skin. If the skin is stripped of its natural sebum, the sebaceous glands may be overdriven by such things as using a non-pH balanced cleanser. This creates a fatal cycle of oil overproduction — and overcleaning — that leads to outages—jojoba, who can reset your skin by restoring balance. It calms Eczema. People with asteatotic Eczema are more likely to dry because their skin produces less sebum and less moisture. Jojoba can help cure asteatotic Eczema through its analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects and restore a compromised skin barrier. It soothes sore lips. A massage in a few drops of nourishing jojoba and then a protective backing layer will see a major difference in only a few days. It's hydrating. Jojoba oil is a trusted source of humectant ingredients. It works to seal your skin with a protective barrier to prevent moisture loss. This can help prevent the formation of bacterial infections, acne, and pelvis. It is antibacterial. Jojoba oil has antimicrobial and antifungal characteristics. While the lab tests Trusted Source found that jojoba oil does not kill any bacterial species or fungal species, it kills some salmonella bacteria and fungi, and E. Infection with coli and candida.
Tumblr media
It is an antioxidant. Jojoba oil contains vitamin E in its natural form. This vitamin works as an antioxidant with your skinTrusted Source. This means jojoba oil can help your skin combat oxidative stress due to exposure to pollutants and other toxins on a daily basis. It is non-comedogenic. Although jojoba oil is botanical, the makeup is so much like oil (sebum) that your skin cannot tell the difference. This makes it less likely to build and block pores on your skin, which results in fewer outbreaks and less severe acne. It's hypoallergenic.  Jojoba oil is a wax at a molecular level. Although it can be absorbed in your skin, it can produce a soothing seal on the surface by its waxy nature. In contrast to other essential botanical oils, jojoba oil is typically non-irritating. Rare is the allergic reaction. It helps to control the production of sebum. Jojoba oil controls sebum production as sebum is so similar that your body naturally produces. Your skin is soothed and moisturized when you put jojoba oil on your skin. This sends a signal that your skin needs no additional sebum to hydrate your hair and sweat follicles. This keeps the skin oily and helps prevent acne caused by obstructed pores. It can help promote the synthesis of collagen. Jojoba oil antioxidants can help your body to produce collagen. Collagen is a protein made of cartilage in your skin, joints, and parts of your body. The levels of collagen decrease as you grow older. This is part of why you change your face structure as you age. At least one study links skin-applied antioxidants to the improved synthesis of collagen. It can help accelerate the healing of wounds. Jojoba oil is a promising ingredient in wound healing stimulation. Preliminary studies show that jojoba oil encourages your skin cells to bind after they have been scratched or cut off. This can also be why acne and acne scarring can be treated. These wound healing properties may be associated with the concentration of natural vitamin E in jojoba oil. It can help to alleviate sunburns. In some natural sunscreen products, Jojoba oils are a popular ingredient. One study suggests vitamin E can help protect your skin from sun damage in combination with other antioxidants. Both are contained in Jojoba oil. Sun damage can dehydrate and flake your skin. Jojoba oil restores vitamin E, adds moisture, and promotes healing to alleviate sunburn symptoms. It can aid in the treatment of acne. At least one clinical trial shows that jojoba oil may contribute to the absence of acne. Jojoba oil has anti-inflammatory, soothing, healing properties, hydrates and is a natural antimicrobial.
Is Jojoba Oil Good For Face? Skin Type Matters
Tumblr media
Cold jojoba pressed oil is produced by pressing jojoba nuts between two plates and swapping heat to remove oil pressure. The end result is a crystalline, room-temperature liquid wax. Based on a heart-rending, perennial jojoba plant grown in North America, this oil is non-comedogenic and also dries, so there is no residue left on the skin. Is Jojoba Oil good for face? Acne and Oily Prone If you're told oily skin to stay as far from oil-based formulas as possible, this could be the exception to the rule – you can actually fight oil with oil. The advantage of this type of oil, and its edge over others, is that its structure closely reflects the structure of the skin's building blocks, namely human sebum (the oily, waxy substance that lubricates and coats the skin) so that the skin recognizes it.  Since it so closely resembles the natural oil of the skin, its application indicates that a healthy oil balance has been achieved and that the skin can now stop producing more oil. Jojoba Oil also has super-small molecules (much smaller than argan or cocoa oil) that make your skin less susceptible to building and clogging pores. This results in fewer breakouts and lower acne. Jojoba oil fights acne and prevents makeup from obstructing pores when included as an ingredient in makeup products. Dry
Tumblr media
This ingredient can regulate oil production for dry skin types and act as an emollient and a hydration barrier. By softening and reducing the smoking of skin and by dissolving it in humectant hydration (occlusive properties), jojoba oil takes a two-pronged approach to prevent moisture from leaving the building.  This makes it an excellent remedy also for dry or irritated cuticles. Jojoba oil contains compounds called tocopherols that are forms of vitamin E that work to remove free radicals and thereby slow down the epidermal aging process. This helps strengthen and strengthen the skin matrix and can help prevent fine lines and wrinkles from forming too. Jojoba oil is also an effective treatment for chapped lips, as the waxy texture provides a barrier to prevent loss of moisture. Use it as the last step after applying a skin hydrator such as hyaluronic acid for the best results.
Final Words
Rich in beauty-enhancing vitamins A, E, and D, plus antioxidants and fatty acids, "oil" jojoba is a wax ester with remarkably similar properties to the sebum of our skin. This means that the "oil" can penetrate deeply and reach the top layer of skin for maximum nutrition. Jojoba is also naturally antibacterial, antiviral, analgesic, hypoallergenic, and antimicrobial. Perhaps best of all, it can be used on any type of skin, from dry to acne-prone. Because Jojoba Oil is very much like our own skin oils, it penetrates the skin and smoothes immediately, helping to promote healthy, glowing skin without blocking pores or leaving a gray waste. Creating the Ideal Skincare Routine: An All-Inclusive Guide
Preface
Many people follow skincare regimens suggested by professionals or influencers in their quest for perfect skin. But a common error is to think that what benefits one individual will also benefit another. The purpose of this post is to help you design a customized skincare regimen based on your unique requirements and concerns.
Princess Catherine's cancer diagnosis was recently revealed, shocking both the public and the royal family. Since there have been little details made public regarding her condition, conjecture has run wild. But Princess Catherine recently shared a video message that provided some insight into her circumstances and showed both her courage and vulnerability in dealing with this difficulty.
Comprehending Specific Skin Issues
The Danger of Plagiarism:
Doctors Maxfield and Shaw stress how crucial it is to refrain from copying skincare regimens verbatim. Everybody has a varied type of skin, requiring different solutions for various issues.
Making Your Routine Simpler
The Risks of Overload: Despite the abundance of skincare products on the market, using too many without taking into account which ones are best for your particular skin type and issues might have negative effects.
Customizing Items to Meet Particular Needs: It's critical to choose skincare solutions whose ingredients are specifically designed to address your unique skincare conditions.
Creating Personalized Skincare Regimen
Determining the Main Issues: Drs. Maxfield and Shaw talk about typical issues with skincare, including hyperpigmentation, acne, anti-aging, and uneven texture.
Treatment for Acne
Foundational Ingredients: Retinoids are emphasized as the mainstay of a successful acne treatment regimen, along with product suggestions.
Additional Ingredients: Salicylic acid, niacinamide, and benzoyl peroxide are suggested for addressing various parts of acne.
Age-Reduction Techniques
Preserving Collagen: To stop environmental causes from damaging collagen, apply sunscreen and antioxidants.
Building Collagen: To promote collagen synthesis and lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, niacinamide, vitamin C, and retinoidoids are advised.
Dealing with Unequal Texture
Exfoliation: To improve skin texture by removing dead skin cells, chemical exfoliants including lactic acid, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid are recommended.
Refraining from Physical Exfoliation: Medical professionals advise against using strong physical exfoliants because they may cause long-term skin damage.
Care for Hyperpigmented Skin
Powerful Components: It is noted that retinoids, vitamin C, azelaic acid, niacinamide, and hydroquinone are effective components for reduction of hyperpigmentation.
Sunscreen Importance: It is stressed that using sunscreen is essential to halting the increasing darkening of areas that are already hyperpigmented.
Customizing Your Daily Schedule
Prioritizing Concerns: When choosing items for their routine, people are advised to give top priority to their most urgent skincare concerns.
Experimentation and Adjustment: Drs. Maxfield and Shaw advise viewers to take a trial-and-error approach by experimenting with various items and modifying their regiment as necessary.
How the Events Play Out
The sequence of events before the declaration sheds light on how serious Princess Catherine's illness is. The public has been highly suspicious about her health since her last public appearance around Christmas and her hospitalization for extensive stomach surgery in January. Rumors began to circulate, raising concerns, which culminated in the recently disclosed that she had cancer.
Princess Catherine's Individual Declaration
Princess Catherine showed incredible bravery by addressing the people directly in her video message. She spoke with a combination of royal poise and unadulterated emotion, choosing to speak by herself rather than with her husband, Prince William. She showed her compassion for other cancer patients by prioritizing openness and empathy when disclosing her diagnosis, which struck a deep chord with many.
Medical Perspectives
Princess Catherine's condition is given important medical context by Dr. Sanjay Gupta's analysis. Chemotherapy indicates a proactive approach to treatment, even if the precise type and stage of the cancer are still unknown. The sequence of events, from chemotherapy to surgery, suggests a tactical approach specific to Princess Catherine's situation.
Increasing Support and Awareness
Princess Catherine's medical condition serves as a moving reminder of the value of cancer support and awareness. Her bravery in sharing her story inspires empathy and understanding among the many people in the community who are going through comparable struggles. Her support of cancer research and support programs also highlights the significance of continuing to fund patient care and medical developments. As Princess Catherine begins her medical journey, those impacted by cancer all over the world are encouraged to hope and stand together by her advocacy and tenacity.
Final Thoughts
The news that Princess Catherine has cancer is a heartbreaking reminder of how indiscriminate the illness is. Her grace and resiliency in the face of hardship inspire admiration and support as she sets out on her path of treatment and recuperation. The royal family's dedication to openness and assistance serves to emphasize the value of empathy and comprehension at trying circumstances.
Creating the ideal skincare regimen requires knowing the particular requirements of your skin and choosing products that are designed to target those needs. You can start your journey to healthier, more vibrant skin by using the advice in this article. To reach your skincare objectives, keep in mind that persistence and patience are essential.

Bicarbonate Therapy
Bicarbonate Therapy
In all cases, the primary goal in treating metabolic acidosis is to focus on reversal of the underlying process causing the acidosis.  Examples:  (1) Renal failure: dialysis if needed. (2) Alcoholic ketoacidosis: fluids, electrolytes, thiamine, folic acid.  (3) Sepsis/shock: volume resuscitation, vasopressors, etc.  (4) Salicylate intoxication:  IV fluids, alkalinization of the urine, ....
If there is a severe deficit (HCO3- < 10-12 mEq/L and pH<7.2) correct with sodium bicarbonate.    Sodium bicarb is also useful if the acidosis is due to inorganic acids (especially if renal disease is present).  However, when the acidosis results from organic acids (lactic acid, acetoacetic acid, etc) the role of bicarbonate is controversial.  In most cases of DKA or severe lactic acidosis the administration of sodium bicarbonate does not decrease mortality even when the acidosis is severe.  In sum, sodium bicarbonate should be reserved for severe cases of acidosis only (pH <7.2 and serum bicarbonate levels <10-12 meq/L).  This can be accomplished by adding 1 to 3 ampoules of sodium bicarb to D5W or 1/2NS.   IV-push administration should be reserved for cardiac life support and not metabolic acidosis.
Sodium bicarbonate administration: It is recommended that 50% of total deficit be given over 3 to 4 hours, and the remainder replaced over 8-24 hours. The usual initial target ((desired HCO3- concentration): 10 - 12 mEq/L, which should bring the blood pH to ~7.20. The subsequent goal is to increase the bicarbonate level to 15 meq/L over the next 24 hours.
Koda-Kimble et al: Replace 50% over 3 to 4 hours and the reminder over 24 hours.  Once the pH is 7.2 - 7.25, the serum [HCO3-] should not be increased by more than 4 to 8 mEq/L over 6 to 12 hours to avoid the risks of over-alkalinization (paradoxical CNS acidosis; decreased affinity of hemoglobin for oxygen leading to tissue hypoxia and lactic acid production; sodium overload; and hypokalemia).
Bicarb Vd = (0.4 + 2.6/HCO3-) x Lean body weight.
Bicarbonate deficit = Bicarb Vd x (desired [HCO3-] - measured [HCO3-])
Lean body weight defined as usual IBW equations: Estimated ideal body weight in (kg): Males: IBW = 50 kg + 2.3 kg for each inch over 5 feet. Females: IBW = 45.5 kg + 2.3 kg for each inch over 5 feet.

Ampoules for Radiant Skin: The Power of Eye Contour and Facial Sebum Control Ampoules
Introduction
In the ever-evolving world of skincare, ampoules have gained popularity as concentrated, potent elixirs that address specific skin concerns. Two such ampoules that have made waves in the beauty industry are the Eye Contour Ampoule and the Facial Sebum Control Ampoule. These targeted treatments offer solutions for delicate under-eye areas and oily or acne-prone skin, respectively. In this blog post, we'll explore the benefits and how to incorporate these ampoules into your skincare routine.
Eye Contour Ampoule: The Secret to Bright, Youthful Eyes
The skin around our eyes is some of the thinnest and most delicate on our bodies, making it susceptible to signs of aging and fatigue. This is where the Eye Contour Ampoule comes to the rescue. Here's why you should consider adding it to your beauty arsenal:
Tumblr media
Reduces Dark Circles and Puffiness: Eye Contour Ampoules often contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid, peptides, and antioxidants that target puffiness and dark circles. These compounds hydrate the skin and promote better circulation, reducing the appearance of tired eyes.
Fights Wrinkles and Fine Lines: Ampoules designed for the eye area are packed with anti-aging ingredients that help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Ingredients like retinol and collagen-boosting peptides can contribute to smoother, firmer skin.
Hydration and Brightening: The Eye Contour Ampoule is designed to provide intense hydration without overloading the delicate eye area. This moisture helps brighten and rejuvenate the skin, resulting in a more youthful appearance.
How to Use: Apply a small amount of the Eye Contour Ampoule gently around the eye area after cleansing and toning. Use your ring finger for a light, tapping motion to prevent unnecessary tugging.
Tumblr media
Facial Sebum Control Ampoule: Taming Oily Skin
If your skin is prone to excess oil production, clogged pores, and frequent breakouts, a Facial Sebum Control Ampoule might be your new best friend. Here's why you should consider incorporating this targeted treatment:
Regulates Sebum Production: These ampoules often contain ingredients like niacinamide and salicylic acid, which are known for their sebum-regulating properties. They help control oil production, reducing shine and minimizing the risk of breakouts.
Clears and Tightens Pores: The sebum control ampoule works to clear out clogged pores and minimize their appearance. This, in turn, gives your skin a smoother and more refined texture.
Anti-Inflammatory and Healing Properties: Some of these ampoules include ingredients with anti-inflammatory properties, which can soothe redness and irritation associated with acne-prone skin.

Indian Ghost Pipe ✨🌿 🌙
Herbal Actions: sedative, nervine, antispasmodic, anodyne, diaphoretic.
Because it has no chlorophyll and doesn't depend on photosynthesis, this ghostly white plant is able to grow in the darkest of forests and thats exactly where you’ll find these happy colonies 🌘🌱....if you’re lucky enough! They’re quite rare and should only be ethically harvested due to their scarcity and medicinal benefits.
Ghost Pipe is a nervous system ally aiding in the modulation of sensory input.
Since the late nineteenth century a tincture of the whole plant has been used for people in intense physical pain, but it doesn’t make the pain go away.
One of Ghost Pipes main constituents is salicylic acid, which is also in aspirin. The Cherokee considered it a pain remedy of the highest order.
It reduces sensitivity to painful stimuli and raises the pain threshold. It can help a person feel more grounded and present rather than overtaken by overwhelming pain.
Ghost Pipe also works with emotional pain in a similar manner. Whether the initial shock of emotional pain, people physically paralyzed by emotional pain, or acute anxiety or panic attacks marked by sensory overload. It dulls the perception of pain and may be useful for psychotic episodes or triggering of emotional memories.
Useful for:
Overwhelming physical pain (combined with anodyne herbs)
Migraine like headaches associated with traumatic brain injury
Anxiety and panic attacks associated with emotional or sensory overload
Triggering of emotional memories
May also be useful for: Childhood seizures, febrile seizures, and epileptic seizures.
To make a fresh plant tincture:
1. Pack plant tightly into a pint canning jar filling to top.
2. Add 100 proof vodka, filling jar to the top
3. Shake daily for 2 weeks.
4. You can leave herb in alcohol until all tincture is consumed, or strain and decant.
Frequent small doses seem to work best to disrupt pain cycle. Not recommended for long term use past one month of daily use.

Cleanser Do’s
Let’s talk about finding a good cleanser. For most people you might be thinking what even is considered a good cleanser? It’s all about the right ingredients that split good cleansers from bad ones.
Types of cleansers
Gel- gel cleansers are universally designed for deep pore cleansing, removing excess oil, debris and makeup off the skin. Some foam up more than others but that doesn’t mean the little to no foaming ones aren’t doing their job.
Acne prone gel cleansers :

https://www.dermstore.com/product_Molecular+Silk+Amino+Hydrating+Cleanser_81743.htm
No matter what cleanser you decide to buy make sure there’s not an overload of ingredients in the cleanser. Look for active ingredients such as BHA/AHA’s, retinol/salicylic acid (especially if acne prone), ceramides, and vitamin C as well as other plant based extracts.

Let's talk about our newly necessary shopping companion - the face mask (and no, we're not talking Clear Skin, Deep Hydration or Face Lift this time!). Due to their effective reduction of the transmission of air-borne particles, face masks are now an essential accessory for a day spent in public spaces. But under a face mask, the skin encounters higher levels of humidity than usual because of an excess of trapped exhaled air. This change in the skin's microclimate upsets the skin’s natural microflora, changing the pH balance of the skin and leading to more breakouts 👎 Let us help you give 'maskne' a miss with our top tips: Before you head out: 1. Double-cleanse! Ensure you start with as clean a face as possible by supercharging your cleansing routine. For us, Smoothing Cleanser followed by Clear Skies is the perfect dynamic duo. 2. Feeding your skin’s natural eco flora is imperative to banishing blemishes. Pure Lagoon Blemish Prevention Serum is our favourite antidote to a day of masked missions - the efficacy of the formulation is like no other! 3. You still need to hydrate with an oil or moisturiser but you don’t need to overload on ‘under mask’ areas. Super Greens Nutrient Boost Oil is a fast-absorbing, nutrient-rich oil which will work day and night to keep skin nourished. When you get home: 1. As soon as you get home after a prolonged mask-wearing period, double cleanse again with Smoothing Cleanser and Clear Skies to remove any impurities and keep skin feeling as fresh as possible. 2. Remedying mask damage with more masks may seem counter-intuitive, but trust us, it works. Our Clear Skin Blemish-Fighting Mask with salicylic acid and ginger extract kills blemish-causing bacteria and keeps breakouts at bay. Put this on problem areas once or twice a week for gleaming, balanced skin. www.tropicbynatasha.com #vegan #veganskin #veganskincare #veganskincareproducts #veganskinproducts #veganbeauty #vegansuncare #veganbeautyproducts #vegancosmetics #vegancosmeticuk #veganmakeup #crueltyfreeskincare #crueltyfree #crueltyfreeskincareproducts #crueltyfreebeauty #crueltyfreebeautyproducts #crueltyfreemakeup #crueltyfreesuncare #goodforyourskin #goodforyou https://www.instagram.com/p/CC_egLtl3WD/?igshid=7zb6j3jn9gu7

Okay y'all. Let me break this down.
Sometimes it's executive dysfunction. Sometimes it's sensory overload. Sometimes we just don't have time for a shower.
Here's my guide to Looking Approximately Human In Ten Steps on Low-HP days. It's a little involved but the steps are small and can be done one at a time with space in between to rest. You can also use this time to apply any pain-relieving creams or medications you may have, and as gross as it sounds, you can take bites of food and drinks of beverage in between it all.
This will get gross. Deal with it.
Note: This is aimed more at people with sensory issues and executive dysfunction - having made the decision not to shower, you now have a list to follow (of less-sensory things than having water sluicing all over you). If you have chronic pain issues and have ideas on how to adapt this list, PLEASE feel free to reblog with your tips if you want.
Any of these steps can be skipped if you absolutely need to, but limit yourself to skipping only a few so the rest of the steps can kinda Build Up.
Ingredients to an Approximate Human:
Flushable wet wipes and/or non-flushable wet wipes. You can use both kinds or just one kind, but be sure to flush only the flushable kind. Your plumbing will thank you.
Dry shampoo or corn starch. I got my sprayable dry shampoo at the 99 Cent Only Store for a buck; check around and see if you can find any. If not, corn starch works just fine, although it’s messy.
Face cleaning wipes. I personally use generic Stridex with 2% salicylic acid. If you want to use the flushable/non-flushable wipes, feel free, but make sure you have something to clean your face.
Facial moisturizer.
Perfume or body spray of some sort. Something gentle and non-overpowering if possible, but most dollar stores have something that will work.
Deodorant, preferably with antiperspirant in it.
Cleanish clothing. If you gotta hit that shit with Febreeze I won’t judge. Doing laundry is hard.
Food of some sort.
OPTIONAL STEP ZERO: You can gargle with mouth wash or brush your teeth. I usually chew gum or eat a mint or something if I can’t get to brushing.
Step one: Eat. Preferably something low-energy to make with plenty of sugars or proteins or carbs. I like generic pop tarts. Drinking is also useful; get some water in, or caffeine if that helps. Tea has caffeine and is more hydrating than coffee or energy drinks or soda, but you do you.
Step two: Go into the bathroom (bring the cleanish clothes with you) and get naked. If you have to pee or poop, do it now. Get it out of the way.
Step three: Use the wet wipes to wash your asshole. I'm not kidding. Also your crotch. Both smell (get real into the pubes if you have them). The wipes help. If you get a period and are on it, clean extra-well and put on/in fresh menstrual products.
Step four: Use the wet wipes to clean your armpits and any other sweat-accumulating areas. The usual culprits: under your belly, between your thighs, under your tiddies, behind your knees, inside of your elbows, on your neck. You can take a whole-ass sponge bath with these if you want, but try to hit the smelly, sweaty areas.
Step five: Use the face cleaning wipes on your face, behind your ears, and on your pits. Never underestimate how smelly your arm pits can be. If the wipes have salicyclic acid in them, it will help a lot more than you think.
Step six: Lightly spray yourself with body spray or perfume, and put deodorant on under your arms (other places you can use deodorant: anywhere you hit in step four). If you didn’t pee/poop in step two and you now have to, get it out of the way. Also re-wash your neither regions if you do.
Step seven: Get dressed, and spray the clothes with body spray or perfume. Use common sense here and don't over-use the Good Smells.
Step eight: Spray the dry shampoo on the roots of your hair and rub it in well. If you don't have any, corn starch worked into your roots works well too. Leave it in for now.
Step nine: Put on facial moisturizer. It gives your skin a healthy appearance and makes you look more Functional. If you’re the kind of person who uses mascara or eye liner or concealer, etc., do this now.
Step ten: Bend your head over and brush your hair out. You’re getting flakes of dry shampoo/corn starch soaked with oil out of your scalp and hair, so you’ll make a mess, hence the bending over. Do this over a tub or sink, and make sure to brush off your top with your hands when you’re done to get rid of any dandruff-appearing flakes left over. Afterwards, wash your hands and observe yourself in the mirror.
Boom, you now look Approximately Human.
