Fits into two groups; those who are Swiss army type middle six / pairing players who can play up and down the lineup. players who will still be third/fourth liners of depth defenders but were extremely effective in that spot, bumping them up a tier.

Third/ fourth liners and third pair defender and goalies. Some of these players have a specific niche they fill, a lot are veterans, thus making me think they’ll get some early training camp invites. Unfortunately with a tight cap and limited spaces, it’s possible not all will be signed, but all will be considered

Tier four: reserves

A lot of these players here either played little last year or were already reserves, or are playing a position/niche that is overcrowded. Many of these players are talented and could def earn a spot for a team that they gel right with, but likely wouldn’t be until after training camp. This tier is pretty close to tier three and probs a lot of overlap depending on a coaches evaluation of how players fit in their system

Tier ?: the unknown

Sydney Brodt, Mikyla Grant Mentis, Audrey-Anne Veillette, Ann-Sophie Bettez, Caitrin Lonergan, Fanni Garát-Gasparics, Kristin Della Rovere

These players did not play a lot last year due to various circumstances but were pretty impactful / took on high end roles when they did. Because of that, they separate themselves from other players who saw limited minutes and may be ore sought after. The exception is Veillette, who straight up DNP due to injury, but was thought pretty highly of when drafted. Bettez is also a weird one here because though she missed a lot this year, everyone knows what she’s capable of, but I don’t think she’d be willing to leave Montreal

one of the many things that thea struggles with a lot is memory, the more cracks appear in the mortal shell hiding her divinity. not due to forgetting, but remembering. in the early days it's mostly in the form of hazy dreams, patches clearly missing and context rarely available. given that when demigods usually dream in clarity it's a predictor, she doesn't really share because she has the clear sense it's related to the past if it's rooted in the world at all. as the cracks widen, however, the dreams get clearer. still rarely with enough context to provide anything helpful, but it feels more like glimpses through someone else's eyes than just dreaming. thea notably gets a little more anxious the worse this gets, disrupting her sleep patterns. mostly it stresses her out because she doesn't know WHY this is happening, but with everything else happening ( given the whole kronos trying to take everything over thing ), she doesn't give it much time. the fragments she's getting feel personal whether they might be or not, she doesn't know who might be good to ask about it, and frankly even if there is prophecy dug somewhere in there, she and her friends are barely handling the ones they've got. the real problem doesn't start until the day she starts getting those fragments when she's AWAKE too. dreams that result in vines twisting around her bed and flowers blooming over her blankets start turning into far-off looks during conversations, english turning to greek without realizing, and the occasional burst of petals when startled. thea starts finding it even harder to concentrate some days, but doesn't directly ask for help until she thinks she keeps seeing a little boy with dark curls around camp, and she winds up going to mr. d just to make sure she isn't going crazy ( he says she isn't, but he looks at her even more differently and she can't help wondering what he knows that she doesn't ). she knows when chiron starts looking at her differently too, and thea wonders how long it will take for all of camp to. rachel gives her a variety of techniques to stay grounded, comparing what thea is going through to her own experiences as an oracle, and it helps. it helps a lot thankfully, and the level that it strengthens is so slow that it isn't really a threat to her safety until around the time apollo regains his godhood. it doesn't take long after that for thea to end up with a room in the big house, and there are days she does little more than sit in her room or outside somewhere and just let it go, the fragments getting longer and the ties feeling more personal as time passes. a lot of it still doesn't make a lot of sense to her, but any crumb of peacetime is enough to stop fighting against it happening, which seems to also ease the aggression in memory trying to come back with her divinity. by the time she's pulled to the grove by rhea, thea is used to balancing between herself and the life that came before her, and once she's no longer mortal it is much easier to let happen. where the confines of a mortal mind and body didn't have the capacity to handle what had been unfolding ( over the course of years by this point ), her newly immortal mind and body can handle the influx. for the first time in a long time, thea can focus again, feeling and being in only the present. the past continues to settle back into place, but it no longer overshadows everything else in fighting over limited space. it still takes a long time for the memories of the goddess before to properly settle, and longer for some of the personal ties to them to hold any sway over thea. fighting the memory of someone else to hold onto herself as best as she could results in thea finding herself somewhere between the two the more time passes, truly a reborn goddess. even after a long time sifting through things on her own, she may sometimes need prompting from someone else to remember older or smaller moments, but that need decreases significantly once she has the ability to handle everything.

Ended up accidentally quoting Inigo Montoya during today's session... I don't regret it at all.

Yes, this is the snake that kills you if you swear, so Rook swore at it a bunch on purpose to piss him off and draw his attention. Andrassi (the snake) had eaten Rook's dear friend Jay the night before, and Rook was um, more than a little mentally unstable going into this fight, plus extremely sleep-deprived. I was really happy with my improv here though. It felt badass.

Rook also ended up killing Andrassi himself, which was very fitting:

This was with a held action, too, so there's a giant snake's head barreling down on Rook, and he just stands his ground and sticks his entire fucking arm into the snake's mouth and just hopes he can kill it before it swallows him whole...

Honestly every single one of us was shocked that Rook didn't die this combat. And he honestly probably should have given that he got paralyzed via Hold Person, and took one auto-crit that took out 60 of his 63 max hp. Insanely, he never even went down. (Actually no one did?? We got SO lucky. Thank our cleric for a really clutch casting of Insect Plague, and some nice Mass Healing Words and a Mass Cure Wounds from the bard.)

In addition, GovTrack (which is a nonpartisan tracker) places her in the MOST politically left-leaning categories of Senators. So we've got a very liberal, woman of color who's spent her career trying to mitigate draconian tough-on-crime laws to benefit the accused and keep black people out of prison and decrease recidivism and that's somehow...just barely tolerable.

So I ask again...what is that you're dissatisfied with? Is it Palestine? as recently as March she was calling for a ceasefire and demanding aid to Gaza. Keep in mind she's pretty constrained as to what's possible to do in this situation.

Is it just that she was a prosecutor? That is an important job that needs to be done and we WANT people doing it who aren't rah-rah tough-on-crime Gestapo types, which she is not. We need prosecutors who are addressing the root causes of crime and looking for ways to help people escape the cycle, which she has done to the point that she was often called SOFT on crime.

So what is your objection here? Is it that her politics aren't 100% aligned with a bunch of Tumblr socialists? I got news for you...we Tumblr socialists DO NOT REPRESENT THE ELECTORATE. If such a candidate existed, they would not win.

Democrats struggle sometimes because our tent is large. Republicans just want you if you're a straight white man and preferably rich. There's room for a lot more types in the lefty side, but sadly that means a lot of room also for dissention among the ranks. This is how they get us. Let's not let them, huh? Just a suggestion.
