I (finally) saw Newsies in the West End tonight and I have so many thoughts but the one I absolutely need to get out tonight is that London Davey Jacobs is absolutely autistic.

He stims, he stutters over his thoughts, he infodumps, he fidgets when he's nervous, he has a very interesting, unique tone when speaking and has a very rigid posture.

I don't know if it was intentional or not but I've always seen Davey as autistic - in both News Boys and the Broadway adaptation - but the way Ryan Kopel chooses to portray Davey is so authentically autistic.

He's shown to be incredibly uncomfortable with social interaction and touch initially but the Newsies accept him all the same and it's beautiful to see.

My absolute favourite Davey stims were him rubbing his fingers up and down the newsie newspaper bags and him tapping his hands when Jack made him speak in front of the other News Boys.

I really loved this show. I've waited my whole life to see it and it surpassed all my expectations.

Goddds, yes, sooo curious to see the new aesthetic, too. Please, give us some info!

The mask thing: I spent a ridiculous amount of time looking at the Masks for drawing him (and autism reasons) and theres a ton of differences between them (especially between the Cardi masks, but thats not the topic here now). The chapter mask is one of the earlier Popia masks and I dont know, it's just weird, the overall shapes are a bit worse than my preferred ones (the 2023 EU/early US mask and the one from the LA shows onward), the crooked hairline etc etc.

The main reason why he opted for the new mask ("surgery") was because TF was feeling claustrophobic in the much more tighter fitting masks before that (thats why those had much better articulation (like, 2018 copia looked like a real dude in both the masks there! it's really good! but also many of terzos masks, even if they almost squeezed his ear off), fit nicer around the mouth etc, were not as huuuge as the popia head, all that) and to allow more freedom for singing (hence the big jaw). This causes a weird mouth situation (the downward turned corners of his mouth, weirder lips, the "bend" in the lower lip (as seen in profile; because of the mask being so far away from the face, pic taken from here and the other is one of Ryan C's from the Ticketmaster site, to illustrate what i mean with "bend") etc, (most of these things are hidden by the black paint when he wears the full facepaint).

the mouth is the main reason why chapter copia looks so "weird" to many and is declared "ugly"; but when you draw him, all you need to do, really, is to fix the mouth and his face works!). Which is perfectly fine for concert things - the main focus should be on him feeling fine and being able to sing as good as possible!

But for the chapters, i feel, it would be cool to have on that focuses a bit more on the expressions and realism, you know? you dont have to be able to sing for 2 hours in this one. and he does have the budget to commission a mask for the chapters, if he can afford that fancy suit

Dont want to talk too much about the copia masks, because this would cause a level 9 autism event; one day i might publish my mask guide with a timeline and highlighted differences, though, heh.

HELLOOO my name’s kate but i go by tons of other names like theo or sangria. i use it/he/she pronouns, im 15 years old (bday september 8th), i have autism and i’m an aromantic spectrum lesbian. i’m half irish and half turkish anddd i speak english, turkish, and a little japanese since im learning it in school!

@bullcharged is a punch out blog, so im gonna be posting a LOT about punch out. punch out is my biggest special interest at the moment, but my other interests include pizza tower, gothic literature and music projects (charisma house and dear vocalist in particular). i also play dress to impress like its my job.

i love punch out and bald bull. hes my favourite character if you cant tell. hes my little princess. other favs from punch out include super macho man, aran ryan, don flamenco, great tiger and bear hugger however i love everybody else very much as well!!

this is gonna be long so brace yourselves

you've probably heard all of this before, the typical hc where she has a bunch of piercings and stuff, but...

shes actually terrified of needles. Like really scared of them. Or well, was

she gets either mizole or namida (or maybe kikura too cause I love kikuryan so much) to do it for her and she makes sure it's not rusted and that they clean it really well cause they dont want to get the area infected (if that makes sense)

she also has at least one tattoo from when she was first able to get tatted, they were sooooo in love with namida that they decided to get a tattoo with her name in a heart (also I know I know the ink would probably come off after a while since she's an inkling but I like to think there's some cream you could put on it to preserve it)

shes a few months older than mizole, so they try to act like theyre cooler than him (she's not) (she's such a loser)

her birthday is on January 2nd, meanwhile his is September 30th (very exact dates ik) (I like making up character birthdays) (it's synesthesia)

she's so neurodivergent they will go on and on about her favourite bands and mizole would be forced to listen to their ramblings about why squid squad is the most revolutionary band for the music scene and why they're her favourite (which further fuels his need to separate himself from being compared to them, if that makes sense)

namida was ryan's first girlfriend ever, her highschool sweetheart or whatever those people say in those documentaries. ryan's also her biggest supporter and is extremely good at cheering her up when shes down

they dated up until their first year of college and then broke up for a bit to focus more on school, then ryan met kikura and they were the punk girlfriends ever. kikura made her step out of her comfort zone and do things they never thought they'd be doing ever

kikura met namida through ryan and now all three of them are dating each other. and they're all happy. boooooo scary three fem-aligned people in love, how terrifying

her goal for being in wet floor was to have the same impact as ichiya did with squid squad, meanwhile mizole wants to have a similar impact, but not be compared to squid squad. they fight over this a lot

they actually argue over small things like siblings do. theyre so sibling-coded. need I say more

she's really supportive of the other members' hobbies and stuff. like. REALLY supportive
