watched the Dragon Prince season 4 and the various conversations with folks trying to talk to Callum and Rayla about their feelings while they're trying to save the world is very similar yet completely different to "Do you think she thinks less of me... for not helping out with Amity?" "Ruby's your sister. She's always going to love you, even if you disagree with each other." "...Yeah. Ruby." from Yang and Jaune's conversation in "Fault"

Callum saying he keeps thinking about that moment over and how horrible it was and Ezran "wow I didn't know Rayla leaving hurt you that much" and Callum "what no i'm talking about getting possessed." and Ezran "oh right yeah"

If I had a nickel for every time I've seen a western-made animesque cartoon series feature an arc villain who is:

(a) A cackling maniac, who: (b) spends most of the season wearing a Mask of Sanity and helping the heroes, then reveals theirself near the end to be Evil All Along and manipulating the heroes; (c) Is a jaded egoist (no ‘T’ in the middle of that word), who is: (d) motivated by insatiable hunger for new knowledge due to: (e) Being created different from the rest of their brethren, in that while the rest of their people naturally reincarnate without their memories, this character was made by the setting gods without that ability, which was intended by the gods to be a boon for the character's brethren but has instead driven the character into insanity with a layer of desperation over thousands of years after the gods vanished; (f) is angry and bitter from suffering a personal betrayal in their nearer past, which one of the main cast is directly tied to, and which implicitly made the villain's eroding morality and sanity even worse than it already was; (g) Has a cyan light motif and powers, (h) Originally comes from another world besides the main planet of the series, (i) Has spent thousands of years up to the present trapped in another dimension; (j) Is spitefully condemned by the show’s protagonists in a way that shows the writers expected us to agree with their assessment that this villain is a tragic but unforgivable monster who deserves to suffer, but instead the character comes across as a lot more sympathetic, complex and pitiable than the writers gave them credit for, whereas the so-called heroes unintentionally come across as assholes or even complete hypocrites, especially since: (k) the heroes who condemn and don't try to feel sorry for this villain let another villain, one who comes across as FAR more petty and unforgivable without the first villain's excuses of mental ailment and immortality and questionable moral agency, off the hook with nought but a slap on the wrist. *cough* Adamai *cough* Neopolitan To say nothing of how those protagonists themselves are responsible for far more of everything that's gone wrong in the world over the series than they've fixed...

If I had a nickel for every time such a series featured an arc villain who has ALL of those specific traits attached to them...

Then I would have two nickels.

I just learned about it this morning!? Why isn't it on the Youtube playlists or the RT website?

It's on RT's youtube as clips as of last year, and I guess aired on something called "Neon Konbini" from 2021? (Probably why it shows up as a separate entity...) but dang it internet! How dare you not keep me in the loop, especially when I went through and rewatched all of these just the other month! Does the algorithm mean nothing!?

rewatching rwby again and i find it funny that in v2 they drop an entire in universe lore reason for ppl to be named after colors but only like 10 characters in the show r named after colors

I just binge watched all 9 volumes of RWBY and I've found my newest obsession.

I simply think it would be far more interesting if instead of racism, blake originally was aligned with the antagonists of rwby after being manipulated into it by Adam.

Imagine if she had no one at all, she was from a low income family and maybe faunus tend to live in tight knit communities but her parents wanted to travel more and they died in a Grimm attack somewhere. So Blake, completely alone, latches onto the first person who helps her. A teenage boy who is leading a gang of kids. Someone also suffering from Grimm. But he hears of people learning to control them and rather than wanting to wipe out Grimm he thinks the superior option is finding a way to control them. Turn them into attack dogs. All the kids in his gang want is that safety, with Grimm at their fingertips they'd be powerful. Terrifying.

Blake gets to see Adam devolve as she falls for him and he starts becoming worse, more violent, more corrupted the longer they spend around the Grimm. Rather than wanting safety and security for those he loves he starts to reveal in the fear he brings to others when he incites chaos. The train explosion isn't just Blake's final straw, it's the first real opportunity she has to escape in a way that makes it harder for Adam to actually find her.

It makes Blake's shame and self loathing more sensible, it makes it clear why there isn't an argument to be made about whether Adam was doing something bad.

Okay, I won't be able to do my original plan to listen through 160. Season 4 is pretty much putting together an entire cocktail of reasons for Jon to off himself, and I do not like it. I don't even want to see the JonMartin payoff at this point, because everything is just too fucking cruel. I'm just gonna relisten to seasons 1-3 and read fanworks. Might do a fic of my own that's bouncing around in my head involving different manifestations of Love being a thing, and Jon awakening to one when he saves Tim from the Unknowing. But yeah. I love TMA but I gotta just stop.

Ah yes child Yang and child SIZED Ruby with her FULL-SIZED V1 HEAD. Like what the fuck. Yang's head is the right size but Ruby's looks fucking huge in that shot with Summer reading to them. It's like 4 year old Ruby and her 15 year old head. That's fucking hilarious. Oh my god.
