An Explanation of Why Louis and Violet are Both Terrific Love Interests [3/5]

+Why both romantic routes are not only amazing but better than other games I’ve personally played in the past.

You have to romance me otherwise the plot makes no sense also I’ll throw a tantrum like a small child.

Do I even need to explain this one?

It’s Kate. 

I’m talking about Kate.

The romance with her is forced and I don’t like it. 

I hate to be blunt because I’m sure there are people out there who like Kate and like the relationship between her and Javier, and I don’t want to step on any toes and say your ship is invalid because it’s not. 

However, as someone who didn’t romance Kate the first three times I played the game for a number of reasons, I hated how the game constantly forced her on you while giving the illusion that it’s a choice. 

Because that’s the issue: Illusion of choice. 

No matter what you do, Javier has romantic chemistry with Kate [apparently] as told by everyone Javi talks to. Tripp mentions it, Eleanor mentions it, Clementine mentions it, and even David says something about how Kate only sees Javi now. 

You can literally be an asshole to Kate and turn her down every single chance you get, and she’ll still come to you like “Hey, we’re a thing, right? Things have been pretty intense with us in the past so we should totally give this a shot, yeah? Fuck David, let’s be together!” 

This would make sense for her say if you returned her affections whenever possible, but it makes her look clingy and in denial if you repeatedly turn her down. 

When it comes to whether or not you want to pursue that relationship with her, you have two choices: Say you feel the same way and have to story make sense, or say no and not only will she pout like a small child, but suddenly so many things don’t fucking work. 

You turn her down and David still freaks the fuck out because Kate’s all “I can’t believe I loved either of you!” and takes Gabe away which leads to the final choice which leads to the ending. 

If the story wanted to be forceful with Kate, then y���know what? Fine, but go all the way with it. None of this illusion of choice shit, just tell us that Kate and Javier are a couple now and give us the choice of what kind of boyfriend we want to be. Don’t say “Here’s Kate, you can smooch her if you want” and then proceed to have everyone and their mother tell me to smooch her even though I don’t want to. 

Also, did you know that Javier Garcia is a bisexual protagonist, as well? 

Yes, it’s true! It’s never mentioned or shown outside of ONE flirtatious dialogue choice with Jesus in the last ten minutes of the game, but it’s true!

I honestly don’t know why they didn’t either give us a choice between two love interests or decide to keep the focus off romance in general. Instead, we got Kate and a mess of a plot when you don’t pick the “correct” choices.

Give me a REAL love interest! One that I can get behind!

...Wait, of course!

Francine’s dead, therefore Conrad’s single! And so what if he held Gabe at gunpoint and threatened to shoot Javi in the face?? All couples have their fights, c’mon! 

...Alright, fine, but I’m putting a pin in such a potential ship and saving it for later.

ANYWAY, we were talking about Kate. 

Compare Kate to Louis and Violet. 

You don’t have to romance either of them and if you don’t, it doesn’t fuck over the plot. 

If you don’t romance Louis, he doesn’t turn into mister pouty pants and slap Lilly and confess to loving Clem during a dangerous situation which results in an even more dangerous situation because he’s butthurt. 

If you don’t romance Violet, the plot suddenly doesn’t make sense because the game was steering you to make the “correct” choices that give you the “correct” ending and now everyone’s confused because they assumed you were smoochin’.

No, you can just be friends with them and it’s fine! Sure, you miss out on the cute date scenes, but y’know what? You miss out on stuff if you DO romance them, too! 

You get different dialogue and scenes that work with the story you’re creating! Just because you didn’t smooch them, doesn’t mean they suddenly don’t have any interest or care in you! It’s just platonic!

If the writers took a page out of ANF’s book, then we would’ve had a mess with Louis and Violet. They would’ve forced Louis on you and then let you have one line of flirty dialogue with Violet! Or everyone would be constantly telling you how much chemistry you and Violet have despite you rejecting her every chance you get! 

In conclusion: Louis and Violet are important characters, but you are not pressured into having a relationship with them if you don’t want to. You can friendzone them and they will still love you. 

[king’s quest and likable but inconsequential love interests]

Romance me or her, it doesn’t really matter we look identical when we’re old and our children suspiciously look the same regardless so just pick one

King’s Quest is a game that came out in 2015. It’s an episodic reboot to the classic games of the same name and follows the life story of King Graham told by himself to his granddaughter, Gwendalyn. 

I love this game. It made me cry and I loved every minute of it. Graham is one of my favorite protagonists that I’ve ever played, and this game has something wonderful about it, aside from purple badgers and Whisper: Romance. 

Surprising, I know. 

In Chapter 3 of this game, King Graham decides that he’s ready to meet the love of his life, so he turns to his magic mirror, which shows him a tower that holds his future bride. Ecstatic about this, Graham travels to this tower and climbs in to meet the love of his life. 

He’s then greeted with these two. 

These lovely ladies are Vee and Neese, and they will be your potential love interests for the evening. 

Vee is the more serious of the two, taking a liking to puzzles and archery, but she also has a knack for puns. 

Neese is the sillier of the two, loving music and animals, while also having excitable outbursts. 

These two are likable in their own different ways, and both get the same amount of screen time throughout the episode, it all just depends on which one you prefer more and who you think Graham has more chemistry with. 

That being said, it doesn’t really matter who you pick. Nothing drastic changes in the story if you pick Neese over Vee or vise versa. 

The story happens the same way: Graham marries the one you pick, their son gets kidnapped by Manny, they grow older with their daughter, their son comes back, they go on vacation, and it turns out the one you didn’t marry is now Icebella and dies at the end of Chapter 4. 

Really, the only difference is the color palettes they wear and dialogue options to signify which one you chose. 

I mean, pick Vee or Neese, but they’ll both reveal that their real name is Valanice and your children look the same regardless. 

So, why is this a problem? Well, it’s not necessarily a bad thing, especially when you consider that Vee and Neese are actually based off of Valanice from the original games, hence why they’re both named after her. And they’re both incredibly likable, so that’s not the issue, either.

For me, when I learned that it really didn’t matter all that much who I picked, it made the choice feel less impactful. In Chapter 3, they’re clearly two different characters with their own personalities, and while they’re similar to their CH3 counterparts in future episodes, they mush together despite the small differences. 

Thinking back to the two times I’ve finished King’s Quest, I can’t even tell them apart. I know that I prefer Vee for Graham in Chapter 3, but other than that, it’s inconsequential, it really doesn’t matter as much as some of your other choices throughout the game. 

When it comes to TWDG, it matters and makes a big difference depending on if you pick Louis or Violet and HOW you pick them. 

You can romance and save them, or you can romance and betray them, or you can do everything right and devote yourself to them only to decide you don’t trust AJ in the end. Each route plays out differently and has obvious, drastic, and memorable consequences.

You romance Louis then save Violet? Well, now your boyfriend doesn’t have a tongue anymore leaving him completely traumatized for life. You now have to live with that for the rest of your life. 

You romance Violet but then decide not to trust AJ? You now have to watch your girlfriend get eaten alive by a herd of walkers because she stayed behind to save Tenn’s life. 

You play your cards right and romance, save, and keep Louis/Violet alive until the end? You get to be happy and in love with them at the cost of your friend’s tongue/eyes and Tenn’s life. 

Do you see what I mean?

Yes, if you marry Vee, then Neese dies. That’s impactful but not nearly to the degree that a choice like this is presented in TFS. 

In conclusion: Vee and Neese are likable but inconsequential. Louis and Violet are lovable, memorable, impactful, and they change the outcome of the story drastically.

Kyo Kara Maoh is streaming legally again on Crunchyroll. Just the first 2 seasons though. So finally I can watch it. How does it compare to the manga/anime? What order do you suggest experiencing the series? Like anime first or manga etc.? Thanx for any help you can give.

Hi! Oh that’s good news, being able to get access to official stuff is always good and it’s nice to see an old anime adaptation get attention.

We have 3 main canons: the original novel canon, the manga canon and the anime canon. There’s also the musical canon, the most recent.

My personal experience with this series started with the anime back in 2008, but at that time there wasn’t much material available to begin with. By the 3rd season I was unhappy with the plot and characters so I started searching for the source, I thought it was the manga, but I ended up discovering the novels and became a hardcore fan of them. I finished the anime anyways, for the sake of completion.

In my opinion the anime adaptation fails to reflect the true nature of the novels, and it also develop it’s own plot, that’s why it stands as the most different canon. They try of course, they have a mix of comedy and drama which is fun, but I felt it was not enough, specially because the darkness we get in the novels is deeper. They also got rid of all the parodies and pop culture references, which are not Gintama-level but they’re a huge part of the story, honestly, I love Yuuri casually talking about David Bowie and costumes of Alien and Predator haha. When I was watching it, at some point I noticed the characters lacked development and they ended roll-backing to repeat basic gags of their first appearances. That’s bothered me and my interest dropped, but I felt the potential was amazing, so I went to the source. Besides my one-time experience, I must say the anime has tons of fans who love it and enjoyed it a lot, it’s what made this series so well known. Please don’t get discouraged to watch it, it’s not my intention at all. The first adventures are supper funny too, and pretty much the same as the first volumes of the originan story plotwise.

The manga does better as an adaptation, but Caloria´s arc blends with the following Seisakoku arc and starts developing other new canon. It already ended and you can find it online in any known website or app that hosts manga. Even with it’s changes, I consider it a better adaptation than the anime and it’s quite enjoyable with the cute art and all. The characters reflects more their novel self too, but some of them are not exactly the same (they’re nicer ahaha, I’m looking at you Saralegui).

Then the novels, best story and characters, and you have a huge amount of material to read and enjoy. They mix comedy, parody, drama, fantasy and adventures. They’ll give you a lot of feelings, one moment you’re laughing and the next you get slapped by darkness and sad, it’s kind of a roller coaster sometimes haha. Also, it’s an isekai series where the MC doesn’t drop his original world but coexist with it, which is pretty interesting. You can find everything translated here. There’s also drama cds adaptations with extra content or special stories, some of these are part of the novel canon, some others are part of the anime canon.

Now, an order... mm, I think that’s too personal for me to tell you what to do! That’s why I tried to give you some information about the 3 different options and my personal experiences and opinions about it. But your experience will be different, like every other fan experience with the series, so please remain open minded to your possibilities. Maybe you like better watching anime (I don’t actually watch much, I’m more of a manga person haha) and that’ll be a good start, or you may prefer mangas, I don’t know. You can also decide if going in order of adaptation from the less complete to the most complete (anime-manga-novel) or vise versa. But what I can truly recommend is to cover everything available sooner or later, specially the original novel.

(and it kinda did because that’s still one of my best stories!)

My Personal Top 10 Games of 2016

I know a lot people had a bad 2016, but for us gamers, it was a pretty good year (if you don’t mind all the delays that is)! So why not make a good old top 10 list? It’s always fun! 

I’m also gonna have my personal “out of 10″ score for each game’s gameplay AND story, since both are equally important to me. As well as a mini-ish review and why it’s placed where it is. Without further ado, here we go!

*Keep in mind I haven’t played every game, nor do I have a Xbone or Gaming PC.*

10) The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD (Wii U)

Gameplay: 8/10 | Story: 9/10

Twilight Princess is one of those “love it, or hate it” Zelda games. For me, even though I’m aware of it’s faults, I love Twilight Princess. Even more so without the motion controls. I love Wolf Link (even though I wish there was more reasons to use him), Midna, Zant, the darker and creepy atmosphere, I love it all! So why is it at number ten? Well, I personally don’t believe ports and enhanced versions should be on a “top 10 games of the year” list (they should be for new games only). But I haven’t finished a lot of games I got this year, and I was missing two slots. So here you go!  

9) Gravity Rush - Remastered - (PS4)

Gameplay: 9.5/10 | Story: 9/10

Like TP above, Gravity Rush is lower on the list only because it’s a port/HD version of a old game. I really loved Gravity Rush back on the Vita, but I was quite confused at the story. But once I replayed it on PS4, knowing what I knew, it was easier to follow (even though you really don’t figure much out by the end). Gameplay feels so, SO, much better on the PS4! I love the Vita, but playing GR on it cramped my hands so much. It feels just right on the PS4 controller. Playing through this again makes me even more excited for Gravity Rush 2 this month! 

8) Pokken Tournament (Wii U)

Gameplay: 9/10 | Story: 3/10

At last, a actual new game! Pokken is such a oddity, but goddamn I love this game. I’m pretty horrible at fighting games, especially ones that aren’t “Smash Bros.” style. But I had fun playing this, and when I had friends over, they loved it too! There’s not much of a story, which wasn’t surprising, but the Shadow Mewtwo segment was interesting enough to keep me playing. Still haven’t beaten the bastard (last battle) though. I hope to see this ported or get a sequel on the NS!  

7) Ratchet & Clank -2016- (PS4)

Gameplay: 9.5/10 | Story: 5/10

Ah, Ratchet & Clank! One of the handful of games on my “Must Buy Day-One” list for every new installment. The series has been a bit on the shaky side after A Crack in Time, both in gameplay and in story. But this game (at least gameplay-wise) is a real return to form! Unfortunately, since this is a game based off a movie (based off a game), there’s pretty much no story since you’re suppose to watch it’s movie counterpart (which isn’t great). But it’s still a fun time! And there’s a in-game cheat to turn bolts into rupees, which is fucking fantastic. 

6) Shantae: 1/2 Genie Hero (PS4, Vita, Wii U, X1, PC) 

Gameplay: 9/10 | Story: 8.5/10

Oh Shantae, you were so close to becoming a 2017 game, good for you for staying in 2016 :3 This is game is beautiful! The animation is so good and lovely! And it’s as fun as any Shantae game before it (I do miss using Risky’s gear though)! My only complaint is the slide segment that’s used twice. For me, they ruin the pacing and they drag on for a little to long both times. Other than that, I really loved it and I can’t wait for the Risky Boots DLC! Also the music is fantastic XD

5) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice - (3DS)

Gameplay: 9/10 | Story: 10/10

I love the Ace Attorney series, warts and all. That being said, I didn’t like the last game, Dual Destinies. Although I liked a lot of new characters from it (and it’s DLC Case), I never felt so out of sync with out to proceed in the Court Cases. By the end I just wanted it to be over. But with Spirit of Justice, it was like the game was reading my mind or vise versa. I was so in-tune with the cases and only messed up a handful of times! And the story is wonderful and heartbreaking, as this series is known to be. I really can’t wait to see the future for Wright and his friends :D

4) Final Fantasy XV (PS4 and X1)

Gameplay: 9.5/10 | Story: 8/10

People are gonna hate me for this, luckily this blog ain’t popular enough for a huge backlash. FFXV is game I, much like a lot of people, have been waiting for since it was first revealed as Final Fantasy Verses XIII back in 2006. So obviously, there are high, and I mean high, expectations for a game ten years in the making. For the most part, it does succeed, at least with gameplay. Unfortunately, the story is lacking. Not in plot, mind you, but in cutscenes. I know cutscenes are the bane of some people’s existence, but to them I say “fuck you, why the hell are you play a JRPG in the first place then?!” Cutscenes  don’t only add personality to the main characters and depth to the story, but also to show other character’s within the story and why we should care or hate them. I know FFXV will be getting a update with new cutscenes later, but for now it’s sort of bare bones for me, and I don’t want to feel like that for this game. I see so much good in it, so it’s only natural I want to love and care for everything in it, right?

3) Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (PS4)

Gameplay: 9/10 | Story: 9.8/10

What a way to end Nate’s story, I fucking love this game! It’s so beautiful, the writing is great, the characters are great, and that fucking epilogue makes me want a Uncharted featuring Nate’s daughter. With Sam acting as her Sully. I know it wont happen, but I can dream can’t I? The gameplay is mostly the same, but it’s still fun. I love being able to almost always complete areas in stealth mode. Much like most games on here, I can’t wait for it’s story DLC :3

2) Kirby: Planet Robobot (3DS)

Gameplay: 10/10 | Story: 9/10

This may seem very, VERY, odd that Kirby beat both FFXV and Uncharted 4 for me. But I have to give the number two spot to this game because, well, I just had so much fun playing it! Once I got it, I barley ever put it down. It was 100% fun from beginning to end. Hell, I was actually completing it as I was playing it! Granted, I haven’t picked it back up since I completed it. But I’m already feeling the urge to replay it as I type this, and that’s the sign of a good game. Story-wise, it’s sort of what you’d expect from Kirby, but it’s still fun and entertaining. I wouldn’t change it for the world. I just wish it had post-game levels or something to that effect. 

1) Pokemon: Sun & Moon (3DS)

Gameplay: 9.8/10 | Story: 10\10

Given that my blog is mostly Kingdom Hearts and Pokemon, and all the news updates, drawings, a report of my gameplay for both games, this shouldn’t be much of a surprise. Even though I have some problems with it, this game is fucking fantastic! There’s a lot of upgrades to how things work that needed working on for a loooong time. From small things like your PC no longer has the useless “Withdraw and Deposit” options, to big things like no HMs! And recovering from the somewhat bland story in XY, the story and characters in SM is really fun and interesting! Hell, there were times where I was actually laughing out loud! I don’t think a Pokemon game has ever done that before! This game is just a real treat from beginning to end! As far as nitpicks and things that just piss me off from the oversight, well it defiantly has it’s fair share. But this is mostly at the Trainer Customization and some movepools for the New and Alolan Form Pokemon. In any case, even after beaten both Sun and Moon, I can hardly wait to get another copy to play my Popplio Team :D

(AKA Games I’m Loving but Haven’t Finished)

World of Final Fantasy (PS4 and Vita)

I honestly didn’t think I’d like this game, but it does grow on you! I stopped playing because I want to wait for the Sora Summon DLC (coming out this month!) Plus Pokemon came out soon after. What makes this game great is that, unlike other non-Pokemon monster-catching games, the monster-catching part isn’t almost 100% completely random. Like Tales of Symphonia 2, Ni no Kuni, and Yo-Kai Watch to name a few. The story is kinda interesting as long as you get used to to voice acting, which isn’t bad but the dialog is kinda awkward and Tama’s the-the is so annoying. In any case, I can’t wait to get back and beat it!

Watch_Dogs 2 (PS4, X1, PC)

I got this game for Christmas, and started it after beating FFXV and Shantae. So far I’ve been loving it! So far it’s much better then the original Watch_Dogs in graphics, gameplay, and story (granted, I’m still basically in the beginning. Doing a lot of side-quest). As of now this is the game I’m currently playing in till Gravity Rush 2, which will then be taken over by Kh2.8.

Girls Beyond the Wasteland that I think got a bit of a bad wrap for no real reason

Well here is a show that I do believe got a bad wrap with regard to no real purpose. But I do involve some reasons for how come people wouldn't love it so much. Ideally Saekano came in advance of this show, and the novelty from it had already worn off if you're. Secondly people arranged their expectations too big for something that will never really tried to remain anything special in the beginning.

-Presentation(visuals & sound) In my opinion nothing looked visually using place, which isn't weird considering it isn't really a very measures heavy show requiring several animation. Sound vise I want the OP together with ED, I actually imagine they were most of the better ones in the season, I like the best way bombastic the music and singing was. But even then none in the background tracks stood out in my opinion.

-Story I basically preferred this show to help just watch something that has to be easy to get into and not having to think about the idea much. and good i did because this is really not a masterpiece on the plot, nor do you find it necessarily bad, simply very average. My biggest problem for it is how that Shoujo-tachi wa Kouya wo Mezasu characters would now and again get mad at the other for no serious reason. That kind with stuff basically happens when a writer has to cooperate with a very reduced time left inside series or that movie they're working together with, so they rush it a tad. At least that characters realize how stupid so you see in a pretty short period of time. Another thing which might be considered a nitpick is that the characters seem enjoy they've never seen the internet nonetheless try to win back their game to the maker by disc with regard to added drama. There were a few "romantic" scenes that will didn't really go anywhere afre the wedding, not that As i expected them to help. On a several occasions this exhibit makes a comment regarding the VN industry, and not often. Compared to Saekano Shoujo-tachi concentrates more on actual creative portions of making a gameplay, it doesn't have the maximum amount of humor. Overall this exhibit doesn't really fail having its plot because the idea keeps its plans fairly grounded.

-Characters The following show has really archetypal characters, therefore knows it. For example every character contains a name related to among the list of things that becomes their archetypes, for instance Kuroda's name identifies her black locks. Also I bet most of the voice actors have been told to do the easiest voice for the archetype we were looking at playing, even if it's excessive. But not every character is utterly archetypal, Buntarou actually contradicts several things that generate a generic harem MC, your dog isn't an unsociable dork who gets distressing around girls, as a substitute he Writes takes on, actually likes being helpful and it is quite confident with himself. Kuroda also subverts the average thing for the woman's archetype, Instead of consistently having an icy personality she's the first people to approach Buntarou regarding the game project. The characters are nevertheless left mostly unexplored, though there are some decent dynamics interaction.

-Overall Not at all what I would look at a terrible Anime, you can not judge it just by premise alone. Nevertheless it's nothing wonderful either, there aren't any sort of deep characters and unconventional and exciting plots with a ton of twists, and The Animation even though certainly decent doesn't need any moments showing off. The nicest thing about this show was most likely the songs. Rarely must see a show that's so unsurprising in my opinion. If I has been asked to propose either Saekano or shoujo-tachi I might tell you to just pick whichever sounds like more enjoyable. I would propose this to men and women that already watched Saekano together with want something similar and folks who are only hoping to fill time with something laid back that some story to travel with it.
