I hate RWBY rewrites haters!
Sorry the show isn't perfect!
Sorry that some fans are not satisfied with the original story!
Sorry that some fans are more creative than the writers of the show itself!
Sorry that you have to complain that everything isn't exactly step by step identical to the original!
You guys complain that male characters are getting attention but you don't realize that this is exactly the same problem as the canon show!
Stop bothering or harassing rewrite writers!!! They just do it for fun and you can't just treat the show as if it were the most perfect thing in the world because it's NOT!!!
Arrg, I'm going to block everyone who hates RWBY rewrites because you guys only know how to complain about the same shit but refuse to accept criticism of the show!!
I like RWBY in concept, in execution the show is an inconsistent mess!! Stop treating it like it isn't!!

This is me appreciating RWBY, I'll be jumping from one point to another so dont worry if im not making any sense. its not you!
All of these past volumes for me doesn't feel rushed (it maybe because I've finished it in 2 days so thats on me) but i feel when i think about volume 10 and the story so far is that yknow when you start writing a book just because of that one scene you made up in your head. So now you need to build up the characters and the events for that scene to make sense. I feel like in nine volumes we got a good setup for "that scene" thats gonna happen In volume 10 or maybe even 11 who knows. Do you get what i mean? No? GREAT! SEEMS LIKE WE'RE OFF TO A GOOD START!
Can i also just say that Jaun's VA killed it in the 7th episode of Volume 9. Both arguments that Ruby and Jaun makes.. I can't help myself but watch the 7-8-9-10th episodes of volume 9 again and again. This whole volume was directed on character development mainly for Ruby since the other characters already had their arcs before this volume except for her and Jaun. (Jaun kinda did as well but never got the closure he needed which was acceptance and he learned that in the volume 9)
And i gotta be honest even from the start Neo was the most intriguing "villain" For me. Maybe because of her design choice or her semblance but something about her made me really like her. And I'm glad they went the way they did for her story too.
I'm saying it again. If Neo doesn't come for our rescue with the jabberwockies im gonna throw some hands.
AND the way they used the Blacksmith in the tree and the story is just UGHH BRILLIANT!!!
The whole politics shenanigans with ironwood in the previous volumes were really made this feel a bit too real especially Nora standing up to Ironwoods plan was just chefs kiss. IM A BIASED NORA FAN COME AT ME I DARE YOU
AND ALSO WHEN I SAY I SCREAMED HEARING CHRISTINA VEE'S VOICE IN THE SHOW I MEAN I SCREAMED ALRIGHT!!!! that was a jumpscare moment for me
Another also PIETRO MY MAN BEING VOICED BY LEE HIMSELF?! (i know VAs name is not lee im talking abt the twd game lee dont get it wrong) I KNEW I HEARD THAT VOICE FROM SOMEWHERE!
Glad Emerald is on our side now. Can't wait to see how much of a time jump we had between volume 9 and 10 AND for more āœØTRAUMAāœØ let's get it fam! Keep up the hype!

I think I'll never understand is why people on fandoms don't listen to the creators when it's about a character they don't like. And yes, this is about RWBY AND RG HOW DID YOU TELL
Like, in RWBY people will say "oh rg is gross" or "they're siblings, not crushes" as if MILES LUNA didn't fucking say that it's not gross, it's a 2year age gap and that they don't have a sibling dynamic in canon
Listen, you're completely allowed to have an opinion. But there's a difference between an opinion and a statement xd
"I'm see their dynamic more sibling-like" is not the same as "they have a sibling dynamic"
And just because you dont like a character doesn't mean you should complete ignore what you're seeing on screen
"ruby and oscar only interacted once"
Be fucking for real right now.
Like LISTEN
I don't like Jaune in the show, he has some tropes I don't like + a design i do not like so it's a very bad mix for me
BUT I KNOW RUBY AND JAUNE ARE BESTIES
I KNOW HOW IMPORTANT JAUNE IS FOR THE PLOT
AND I KNOW HOW MUCH HE CARES ABOUT OSCAR
AND HOW HURT HE IS
Just because you don't enjoy a character (that is not evil or unlikeable, oscar is actually one of the sweetest characters in the show he's always trying to help) doesn't mean you get to ignore him. All characters are linked. If i ignored Phyrra I'd have missed Jaune stuff. If i ignored Ren I'd missed Nora stuff, If I ignored Weiss I'd have missed ruby stuff, AND IF YOU IGNORE OSCAR YOU MISS RUBY STUFF
Also for those who say:
"I don't like Oscar bc ozpin is there and it's icky"
1-the plot will develop??? That's how a show works, that will most likely change
2-You missed Ozpin's character because AGAIN, you didn't like him so you decide to ignore him.
3-If you ignore Ozpin, you miss Oscar stuff which leads to the "oscar is a meatsuit" thing because you think he's a flat and dull character and because you think so (because you ignored one of the pillar characters in ozma/Salem's plotline) then you don't get why rg could be a thing and then you sew that rg MIGHT actually end up happening if CRWBY follows the path they're going and then you get pissed off because you say they don't have chemistry.
I'll say it.
People who dislike rg are ozpin haters. It's a domino effect

Okay, yeah I heard about RT
This blog has not been active in a long, long time. And that's mostly because I'm focused on things other then RWBY. So learning about this today, from @saiyoyuutsume on Discord, at work, was a bit of a surprise. I'm not a popular figure in the RWBY fandom, that much I know. But I may as well give my ten cents on the situation.
Now, my reaction to this was strangely calm. I have mixed feelings about this situation. I am sad for the workers that got laid off, as well as all the freelance/contract workers that lost their jobs as well. But at the same time, RWBY, whether people realize it or not, has been going on a downward spiral since V8. Mostly due to bad writing choices. I hate to say this, but I found myself rather dissatisfied with many of the choices the writers went with in the series, hence it caused my excitement for the show to die down a bit.
Now, before you all bash me for saying this, let me just say that this is just my opinion. Emphasis on the "my". If you all don't feel the same way, that's fine with me. Everyone is different. You do you and I do me. That's how it should work.
But back to the situation with RT; It's sad that the company is disbanding, especially after all the good content they have put out for everyone. And yes, it does mean the future of RWBY is uncertain. Maybe they'll find a way to continue the show, maybe they won't. Either way, we shouldn't lose our minds over it. I know I'm not. And here's why.
Something I have learned from making fanmade content is that you don't need big corps like Warner Bros (who is trying to sell RT btw), to make things you want happen. If you have the tools and the talent, you can make it happen yourself. Why do you think you see at least a bajillion fanart pictures on your tumblr feed everyday? Why do you think people write fanfictions about their favorite ships and what not? It may be fanmade content, but at the end of the day, it still pertains to what you like. And even if it's not official, it's better then nothing.
I still like RWBY, despite my qualms with the series; hence why I'm still planning on making fanmade content. I just haven't been at it for a while because IRL is a bitch. In fact, my sis and I have a major RWBY project that we are working on, and we're don't plan on stopping that because we invested way too much of our braincells in the project to even quit.
My point is, at the end of the day, what's done is done. All we can do is watch and hope that they find a way to make RWBY v10 happen. And if they don't, then that's that.
Thanks for hearing my pep talk XP

Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy
Am I the only one who is seriously getting irked at all the shit that falls on Jaune? I mean, yes there needs to be obstacles for the drama and trials for him to overcome and induce his growth; but at this point CRWBY keeps shitting and shitting and shitting on Jaune with little to nothing to show for it. And just when he starts showing signs of getting better? Itā€™s like the universe goes ā€œnope, fuck you, canā€™t have thatā€.
Itā€™s gotten to the point where I outright expect for even more shit to fall on Jaune in the next episodes before they just kill him off. Itā€™s as if the lesson they actually want him to learn is ā€œShould have never tried to be a hero. Should have stayed in your fucking lane like your family told you toā€.

What is rwby and what's wrong with the writing?
//Oh ho ho ho! I don't blame you for not knowing about this show, considering that people barely talk about it except for fans and Rwby critics. I'm very much a part of the latter group.//
//Rwby is an animated action fantasy show created by Monty Oum, Milles Luna, and Kerry Shawcross in 2013. And let me tell you all that when I say this, I'm not even joking when it sucks monkey dick. It sucks it hard. Now what is the matter with RWBY as you all might be asking? Simply put//
//Everything//
// And when I say everything, I mean everything, every single piece of RWBY is wrong! Where do I start? The worldbuilding and lore? It's the worst worldbuilding and lore that I've ever seen, and that's saying something considering that there is a lack of worldbuilding and lore in a fantasy setting nonetheless! The story? It's fucked with so many holes and awful, awful writing decisions, even from the get-go! The Dialogue? Aside from a few bright spots, it's absolute dogshit! Who talks like a real person? No one! And the Characters? Oh, oh boy they did fucked it up with the characters, and they fucked it up hard!//
// These characters were the saving grace of this show, and the main reason why we all continued to watch this show, even when the story fell into tomfuckery. And now they've been flanderized into unlikable, hypocritical, morally wrong, cunts that have become so detached from reality, they have become just as bad as the villains, who also suck! And the show still wants us to support them! ARGGGGGH!!!//
Tumblr media
//That's the feeling when I watch this show, every single time. I've never felt this enraged and riled up about a show in my entire life. I'm not joking when I say that this is the hardest thing I've watched, as it's so bad, it's not even that funny to me. At least the Another series had incredibly compelling characters, great plot twists, and some genius writing moments, even if Sdra2 was incredibly disappointing for me at first watch, at least for now//
//Rwby is so fundamentally flawed from start to finish, that I don't think one review of it will do justice to those fans who were infuriated about the way this show was handled. All I can say is that worldbuilding, characterization, animation, and storytelling-wise, it's the worst show I've ever watched and nothing will ever surpass that for me. I know this sounds like a bit of a bold point, but I will stand by that claim that RWBY is shit and easily one of the worst things I've seen for a long time.//
//So if you want a reason as to why Rwby sucks, all I said here gives you an insight into how it is terrible from the moment V3 aired. Trust me, I'm nowhere near done beating this still-breathing horse to the ground like it is.//

I LOVE Volume 9 Weiss. The change her character has gone through is incredible and I'm obsessed with it.
Like she went from spoiled heiress to warrior trying to save the family name to vigilante who didn't give a damn about the family name to soldier to renegade. She saw her home destroyed not once, but twice. She thought she lost her friends for good as she saw each of her homes destroyed. She not only realized that she was part of the problem (multiple times), but worked to fix the problem, personal ties be damned. She was betrayed by and then made amends with both her siblings.
I'm convinced that volume 9 Weiss just has the mindset of "Well, what else can the universe throw at me? You know what, doesn't matter I'm still going to get through it so I can save more people." What an incredible woman and what great art to pay tribute to her.
weiss sketch because itā€™s an understatement how much iā€™m loving weiss this volume

Shout out to people who are fans and enjoyers of hated media. Stuff people make 8 hour video essays on why itā€™s bad, shows or games or whatever that people dunk on to the point where itā€™s basically a trend even if they never interacted with said media. Bands or movies where people who have only heard of it will make judgement after hearing someone talk about their interest.
Keep being you, keep liking what you like authentically. Donā€™t let the bandwagoning or angry nerds get to you. You are some of the most awesome and chilliest people on the internet.

Doing another RWBY hatedom rant because people seemed to like the last one and I have more to say:
I absolutely despise it when people call Yang selfish and a terrible sister in Volume 9 when it came to Rubyā€™s struggles with her mental health. I have two main issues.
1. People seem to think that because Yang is Rubyā€™s big sister then she needs to always be at her beck and call. She canā€™t disagree with Ruby. She canā€™t let Ruby do things on her own. She canā€™t focus on herself or her happiness. She must always be focusing on Ruby. Thatā€™s not how relationships, especially sibling ones, work. People seem to think that Yang must sacrifice everything for Ruby and if she is anything less than that then she is a terrible sister. Do people forget how much Yang had given up for Ruby?! She raised her! She sacrificed her life for her! As soon as she was ready to went to go find Ruby in Volume 5 instead of her mom, which she had wanted to do for most of her life! I fully believe that if Raven didnā€™t have her portal semblance, which made finding/getting to Ruby MUCH easier, Yang would not have bothered. Yang loves her sister so much! But just because sheā€™s a big sister does not mean that she isnā€™t allowed to struggle or focus on herself.
2. Hereā€™s the big reason. As someone who has had to deal with a VERY similar experience in my life it absolutely infuriates me when people call Yang a terrible person and sister. I wonā€™t go into too much detail because itā€™s not my place and Iā€™d rather keep the information private but a couple years ago my sister hit a very low point mentally and it got very scary. (Sheā€™s doing much better now donā€™t worry). Hereā€™s something that most people donā€™t realize when someone very close to you is going through something like Ruby did: You donā€™t tend to realize how bad it is. I knew that my sister had her struggles, but I genuinely thought she was doing alright. Afterwards I felt like such a terrible person because I wished that I noticed more and wished she had told me what was going on. This is exactly how Yang felt! She knew her sister was struggling, but didnā€™t realize just how bad Rubyā€™s mental state had gotten. She would try to comfort Ruby, not realizing that it was making it worse. She wished that Ruby had told her so that she could help her. Itā€™s a really shitty situation to be in. This is on top of the fact that all of team RWBY were in a very stressful situation after having witnessed the fall of Atlas. I donā€™t think any of them were in great headspaceā€™s, Ruby was just in a much worse place.
Honestly the entirety of Volume 9, in my opinion, was very realistic in its portrayal of mental health issues both as the person struggling with it and as the people around them. These situations are messy, complicated, and are never straightforward. Trying to treat it as anything else really shows that people donā€™t know what theyā€™re talk about.
Yang is a good sister. Sheā€™s not perfect, but guess what? No one is! Remember we as an audience know so much more than the characters do. Just because characters donā€™t handle a situation perfectly doesnā€™t mean theyā€™re garbage.

The gladiators of old Rome were given rich meals and had a good healthy amount of fat on their bodies.
I think it was for multiple reasons, one among them being the obvious one of stored fat = energy. Gladiators were athletes and they were, understandably, a pretty big investment.
Another would be, if I recall it right, that the layer of fat, which would be spread quite evenly across their bodies, also served as something like a natural armour. The build-up of shallow cuts during combat wouldn't be as much of a deal in a prolonged bout and recovery times would be shorter as well.
Not to mention that gladiator fights were part of circus in the bread & circus way of life the Roman upper crust used to keep the plebs docile. So a little bit of literal bloodsports was a good way to appease the masses.
All of that said, I think Jaune would not have the chiseled abs popularised in modern action movies (Looking at you, MCU). He'd probably prefer functional musculature over an aesthetic one.
A real warrior Jaune would be a built like a fridge and be as heavy as one too. He'd have the definition sure, but it's all covered with a good healthy spread of fat to keep that machine running!
Pyrrha would definitely be able to get the best of both worlds. A capable-in-battle Jaune and a nice-and-cuddly Jaune aren't mutually exclusive. Good muscles are soft until they get exerted, you know?
Apologies for the sudden rant, I was overcome with the need to word vomit a little bit.
Jaune: *looking in the mirror after training* Hey, Pyrrha, look!
Pyrrha: šŸ™‚ ?
Jaune: *pulls up his shirt* Iā€™m starting to get abs! Check out the ā€œVā€ Iā€™ve got going!
Pyrrha: *looks down at Jauneā€™s belly*
Pyrrha: ā€¦
Jaune: If I keep training, I bet Iā€™ll have shredded abs in no time! šŸ˜
Pyrrha: šŸ˜•
Jaune: Pyr? Whatā€™s wrong? Isnā€™t it cool that all my hard work is paying off?
Pyrrha: *puts her hands on Jauneā€™s belly and gently pinches* ā€¦I liked your soft tummyā€¦ šŸ˜„
Jaune: *squirms* Huh? Really? But I thought-YIPE!!!
Pyrrha: *squeezing and kneading the Jaune tummy* Itā€™s so much nicer to snuggle against when itā€™s softer! šŸ˜¢
Jaune: *squirming and tickled by Pyrrhaā€™s groping* B-BUT!! Donā€™t y-you thINK itā€™s g-gOOD that Iā€™m getting in better shape?! šŸ˜–
Pyrrha: Yes, but not at the cost of my favorite pillow! Chiseled abs are just for show! šŸ˜«
Pyrrha: Letā€™s go get you some muffins right away! You can keep your conditioning AND that cute belly if we increase your calorie intake!
Jaune: *struggling against the tickling* But Iā€™m not hungry! šŸ˜

Indie Creators and Critique
I'm working on a post about the new RWBY finale and some details I noticed, but I wanted to bring this up because I think it's getting out of hand:
What the hell is with all the hatedoms for indie series? Yeah, I'm looking at you YouTube Critics.
Y'all complain the heck out of the corporate schlock you get from Disney these days and whine about the lack of creativity. And then you get indie stuff and you rip it apart with the reading comprehension of a snail attempting to study pharmacology.
I LOVE critique. In fact I love it so much I've been called a hater in many fandoms for picking apart things that I don't think work very well in stories I otherwise adore.
I'm furious for what you did to RWBY. To Lore Olympus. Now trying to do to Hazbin Hotel.
On the Lord Olympus aspect, it is HILARIOUS to me that y'all think that myths have been preserved in perpetuity at the moment of their creation. Nah. In fact, much like Shakespeare's adaptations of stories (no, the man never created a story from thin air) myths have gone through revisions and syncretism and cultural contextualizations to become the myths we know today. They shift with the times an d the cultures. That's anthropology 101, baby.
For example, did you know that Greek myths adapt a lot of Sumerian/Babylonian ones? Did you know Aphrodite/Venus is likely an adaptation of Inanna, Ishtar, Astarte, and she also likely influenced Hindu stories? (This relates to the RWBY post I'm working on actually...) So by retelling any of the Greek myths you're actually misrepresenting Sumerian ones, according to your logic.
Criticism is supposed to be a conversation, not a shut down.
YouTube critics are, by and large on the whole, terrible at what they do and ignorant. If your criticism isn't a conversation, then you should maybe reconsider whether you'll do anything good or whether you'll actually just contribute to all of us having to eat bland, uninspired corporate mush. And maybe also look into why you're harsher on indie stories.

Just something on why representation matters: even the smallest bit of seemingly the most miniscule part of someone's identity being shown will make someone out there happy. It can be the most minor thing in the world to you, but someone, somewhere, will be absolutely ecstatic to see a part of themselves in one of their favorite characters.
Example: I seriously love left-handed characters. As a lefty, this is super cool to me. Seeing someone who uses their left hand in media will always make me smile, and it makes me feel more connected to the characters. Some examples: Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Sephiroth, and, of course, Link. Like, this is why I loved The Legend of Zelda so much as a kid. Link has historically been left-handed since the very first game. Seeing Link pick up the Master Sword in his left hand, being called the Left-Handed Hero, and generally just be awesome while also being a lefty, makes me giddy to this day. It's just such a positive representation of left-handedness, and that probably doesn't matter to *anyone* that didn't grow up as a southpaw, but it makes me happy.
That's also why it's a shame that he's no longer left-handed. Not only do I feel less connected to the character who was, for the longest time, my absolute favorite hero (a pot-smashing, grass-cutting role model, one could say), but it also feels like they cut out a core part of his identity with that small change.
I especially felt disconnected after reading about why they made the change. Apparently, according to an interview, they switched for wii motion controls, since people hold the wii remote in their right hand regardless of "hand preference" (those were the exact words used). I, uh...I don't! I have, and always will, hold a wiimote in my left hand. Learning that *this* was the reason for them cutting out such an enormous part of the identity of my childhood role model, the Paragon of what lefties could be, seriously pissed me off. And again, this probably doesn't matter in the least to anyone who isn't a lefty.
In short: diversity, inclusion, and representation don't have to be massive. It doesn't have to take up the core of a character's story arc. Even something as simple as the character's *dominant hand* can make people feel seen.
This is also why I don't like it when people say not to have representation for representation's sake. "Oh, it's just tokenism if you say that a character's gay and do nothing about it!" No. No, it's not. It increases diversity, it makes people feel closer to your characters and story, it gives positive representation of usually marginalized people (including lefties until recently, believe it or not!), and it adds an extra layer of depth to this collection of traits that you're passing off as a person.
Even if there's an argument to be made that a character is just the "token gay," or the "token PoC," or whatever, it also shows that people from those communities are capable of living normal lives in society, rather than conforming to whatever stereotypes apply to them. I would much rather a writer add an identity to a character and then not mention it much than they try to make a story arc around it that comes off as anything-phobic.
Again, in short: representation matters. Never say it doesn't.
