Hey Mark! I’ve noticed a lot of content creators have mentioned getting into Magic around RTR and/or Innistrad. I also hopped in around that point, which is part of why hearing this a lot has stuck out. Was there something unique in that period that might have had that result? Is it just that we’re in a certain point in a cycle of players? Or is it maybe all just confirmation bias on my part?
There’s no correlative data showing that time period had any spikes beyond the normal slope at the time. Confirmation bias seems likely.

Updated Feedback for Streets of New Capenna
I think my original feedback to SNC was godawful for a lot of reasons, not to mention that it was ruder than it really should have been, so I am writing this.
I think New Capenna has a lot of potential but the set and the setting didn't get enough time or polish.
Story
The main story felt kind of rough. I'm not sure if there were rewrites or something, but it felt underwhelming in the end. A lot of important/interesting questions (like about Halo's effects/purpose and Elspeth's past) were left unanswered. Also still disappointed we didn't get a Riveteers story.
The confrontation with Ob Nixilis felt like it was way faster than it really should have been. Felt like the only real impact was killing Xander and crashing the Font. Maybe should've been a 2nd set with the resulting takeover (and the Angelic Awakening too).
Also the angel situation should not have had to be explained on Tumblr.
The side stories were mostly just OK. I liked the pigeon one in particular.
Setting
Going to split this into smaller sections
Humanoid Cephalids: This feels like the human sliver situation to me. Having them for more diversity was a good idea, but I feel like more Dominarian designs may have helped there. I also noticed and did not like that basically all the guy cephalids were big blurple bald guys with tentacle staches and the girls were blurple women just with tentacle themed hair.
The City and the Citizens: Stacking 3 cities on top of each other was cool, but I don’t feel like the set gave enough of an idea of what it was like to live in the city. For all the talk of how this is the big mob set, I have a clearer idea of what life was like for Ravnicans under the guilds than I did for Capennans under the families. The same goes for plain old daily life in the planes.
The Family Concepts are Cool, but Feel Underdeveloped:
Despite the lack of interest in the city outside of the families, I didn't really get a good sense for how any of the families worked & the lack of any apparent pre-angel law/order does not help. Staying away from cops and stuff was 100% the right choice, but there needs to be some sort of law or something: even law/criminal investigation controlled by the Brokers/Obscura would be good, as long as there is a real reason the Family's operations and crimes/murders are kept on the down low.
On the note of the law, as I was double checking to see if their were RTR-esque outfit guidelines I missed, I finally noticed Rogue’s Gallery had a Broker’s symbol on the sides of where the photo was being taken. If Brokers and maybe Obscura were supposed to act as the law despite also breaking it for power, that should’ve been made more clear and been more prominent.
Again, like with the unclear Angel situation post-set and having a decent amount of Angels in the set, it feels like either communication broke down and/or like there was a decently-big rewrite and that it was too late to change some things
Brokers:
Didn't feel criminal enough for the most part. The strong-arming and contract forcing implied in the sidestories seemed to be MiA, and what crime there was just seemed to be generic murder (i.e. Lagrella the Magpie)
Did not feel very magical or interested in the elements of their colors (barring the one Vermin guy who contracts with animals). One or both go for most of the other families too.
Obscura:
More of the Obscura’s mystical side could have been nice (sphinxs, seers, spirits, etc.)
How they operated seemed unclear, especially how they controlled information. What they did have just seemed to be surveillance, smuggling for no discernible purpose, and more generic crime like robbing a vault. Felt more like Dimir then a faction with White.
The hologram things suck. I know I'm taking care to not be rude this time, but it feels uninspired and un-fantastical and I feel the need to be blunt on this point.
Hard to tell apart from the Brokers, visually and operationally.
Maestros
Still too similar looking to the other Blue factions, and they maybe could have been more interested in their colors non-mechanically.
The art theme was great, though the hotel/hospitality aspects while interesting could have been explained/pushed more.
Riveteers (Also My Original Comments Were Real Bad On Them in Particular):
First off, shouldn't have complained about the boxing ring aspect, I did not know my history there.
The worker outfits helped make them distinguishable from the other factions, but I lot of what they wore still felt pretty generic
That said, after looking closely at them again, I noticed a bunch of them have a gold, scale-shaped trim or pattern on the insides of their coats. That is neat, but again I literally never noticed until today (April 27 2023). It and whatever other fashion choices were made could’ve been made more clear either in the stories or on the cards.
It still sucks that they didn’t get a story, as it may have helped flesh them out more (and I was personally curious about how the faction worked/used its colors).
Tangent below:
Calling the lack of a story for the union faction sus may have been out of line or excessive, but then again (as I finally got around to  finishing/publishing this after the MAT leak) hiring the goddamn Pinkertons is too!
Like, not relying on trigger happy cops to retrieve stuff seems fine, but WotC/Hasbro REALLY HAD TO GO WITH THE GODDAMN PINKERTONS?!
Alright back to the point of the feedback, sorry for the tangent, but I had to get that out there.
Cabaretti:
The party-goer styling was generally enough to make them distinguishable.
More magical/elemental than some of the others, but still maybe could've been a bit more 'natural' with their parties, techniques, buildings, etc.
Halo being basically potions/energy drinks (even if they were Soylent Green) kind of hurt the flavor of being a party faction.
On that note, the Cabaret faction not having alcohol does feel off, especially in a plane based in the Prohibition era. Maybe its not reasonable due to rating boards, but if there is any faction where it should be pushed, this is probably it.
If nothing else, maybe grapevines and bottles/glasses/imitating customs around alcohol could have helped with the flavor.
Mechanics
All 5 family mechanics were good/fun, and so were the new Hideaway cards.  I really liked the Alliance cards that did different things on their 2nd trigger and Gala Greeters, and Shield Counters were successful as a fixed regenerate IMO. They all did play together quite nicely as well, though as I’m about to get into some stuff sort of overshadowed that.
Limited
WU/WG were overtuned, with Inspiring Overseer being ridiculous. Raffine’s Informant and Jewel Thief was also too damn good, especially compared to cards like Brazen Upstart.
Removal was also bad, and Limited felt like it was too much about 2 color decks hitting 2 drops.  A bit more removal that didn’t care about Shield counters may have been a good idea, and some existing removal needed better efficiency.
GR Treasure also had no good payoffs beyond splashing, Jinnie Fay, and Stimulus Package. UB 5-MV Graves also seemed weak. On that note, putting the Hearse in a set testing 5-MV graveyards seemed excessive.
Having said that, I don’t think any archetype (except maybe GR Treasure?) was unplayable, but the depth of WU/WG seriously warped the experience for the worse.
Misc
Some things probably could have been more fantastical than just ‘Human with weird looking holograms’ or ‘Fantasy race doing completely normal thing/normal crime thing with no interesting changes’
Titan of Industry and All-Seeing Arbiter were cool concepts/designs and great uses of the “modern magic city” setting.  The former does feel more like a Riveteers card conceptually tho, and I do wish the latter had some Ward. Bootlegger’s Stash and Halo Fountain also work well in the same vein.
Giada, Font of Hope is so pushed (and boring) that I don’t think I ever want to play an Angels deck with it. Hope to see her again though, unless she is meant to be gone for good. (I wrote that bit before MOM)
Finger guns were neat, but didn't feel right for the setting without being fleshed out/having reasons and magic techniques tied to them.
Speaking of guns, the violin cases with actual violins in Perrie's story were cool, but stuff like the Arc Spitter felt too Izzet or Kaladesh IMO. (And I was a bit sad too see them return to semi-prominence in MOM)
No matter what anyone says, bug vehicles are cool!
The alt art was outstanding!!! :D All of the artists did a great job!
Wrapping Up
I do worry that blazing through settings like this is going to make finding/creating fan favorites harder. Kaldheim became a favorite due to its concept despite being crunched into 1 set, and Kamigawa was just fantastic and made sense as 1 set, but I worry other planes/settings may not end up getting so lucky.
Overall, the concept and faction ideas are great, but I think a bad story, being poorly fleshed out, OP commons, and being stuck in a single set (rather than 2; 3 would have been way too much) hindered things. I do hope to come back, but with a more fleshed out world.

Maybe Scott and Charlie can lead the charge, because according to Scott, "Speed, dance position, like the older style of ice dance ... nobody really seems to care about that anymore."
that would be amazing - i feel like most of the IAMO programs do have something classic in their bones, something structural that connects it to old school ice dance, and it has to be coming from him? or at least it's being filtered through his taste?
i don't feel that so much from the MIDA programs, as much as i liked RTR choreo, some of these programs feel old school but in a way that we've seen before, like Gr/Pa's Gershwin FD. i still actually like Wolfkostin/Chen's FD, but they had yet to look comfortable with it. i notice Charlie (or his team) have this choreo tic where they really like to have both skaters do a little jump in the air at the same time, like a choreo hop but higher - Gr/Pa, W/C, B/S all have at least one
anyway, the older style of ice dance, idk if the ISU cares, but a lot of fans still do

Crypto Scam? RTR Plummets 95% After Trump Family Denies Link
This week, a brand new PolitFi token made the headlines amid the crypto market restoration. Restore The Republic (RTR) caught the eye of traders after rumors of being linked to the Trump household surged. The Trump-themed token noticed an enormous surge after its launch. Nonetheless, its value shortly plunged after the previous US president’s camp denied any hyperlinks with it. Associated…

Affordable High-Speed Fun: Best Budget Electric RC Cars
Introduction to Fast Electric Remote Control Cars
When choosing the ideal RC car for your needs, there are various key factors to take into account. These include the power source, size, construction quality, and brand reliability. Additionally, keep in mind that the intended use of the car - whether for on-road or off-road racing - greatly affects its overall speed and maneuverability.
Here are a few other aspects to keep in mind.
Although the excitement of racing RC cars at high speeds is unquestionable, prioritising safety should always be a priority.
It is important to carefully select designated areas for operating these cars, keeping them away from crowded places to avoid potential accidents.
Additionally, ensuring that your RC car receives regular maintenance and inspections is crucial in guaranteeing safe and enjoyable use. By routinely cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting your car, you can prolong its lifespan and improve its performance.
Upgrading key components such as the motor, battery, and tires can also enhance its speed and overall functionality, maximizing the value of your investment.
Consider installing a more powerful motor, adjusting the gearing ratio, and opting for high-capacity batteries. Additionally, upgrading the tires and suspension can enhance the car’s grip and stability, leading to improved speed and performance.
It’s essential to note that while modifications can enhance performance, they may also increase wear and tear on the vehicle. Therefore, regular maintenance and careful tuning are crucial to ensure both speed and longevity.
Top Brands and Models in the Fast Electric RC Car Market
The ARRMA Infraction 6S BLX Brushless 1/7 RTR Electric 4WD Street Bash Truck is capable of a top speed of 80+ mph.
The LOST RC Car has a top speed of 52 kph or 32.3 mph.
The Redcat Racing Lightning EPX Drift Car can reach speeds around 10-15 mph.

The Redcat Volcano EPX can reach top speeds of 20+ mph.
Maintenance and Care for High-Speed RC Vehicles
Regular maintenance and servicing are essential for maintaining optimal performance of any RC car.
Despite their sturdy design, proper upkeep is necessary for these cars. This includes basic tasks such as cleaning, checking screws and bearings, greasing them, and replacing worn out parts.
After driving, it is crucial to clean the car thoroughly. For dusty conditions, compressed air or a soft brush and damp cloth can be used. Extra care should be taken when cleaning around the bearings to prevent faster wear and tear caused by dirt and dust.
Please note: Do not clean the car with running water. Once finished, be sure to inspect all components for any looseness, particularly the screws on the servo arm, steering linkage, lower shock absorbers, suspension arms, and upper links.
These screws are subject to movement while driving and may become loose. Gently tighten them using the appropriate tool - over-tightening can cause damage to the threads.
After inspecting the bearings, it is important to also check their condition. Pay attention to any excess play in the wheel bearings, as this can cause the tires to wobble.
If you notice an increase in play after driving, it may be a sign of wear and tear on the bearings. This can lead to decreased spinning of the wheels and put strain on the motor.
To prolong the life of your bearings, make sure to regularly clean and lubricate them, especially after wet driving conditions. A few drops of oil is all that is needed for proper greasing. Keep in mind that outer bearings tend to wear out quickly and should be replaced promptly when necessary.
Additionally, you can test the drive train bearings by gently wiggling the outdrive and observing any play between them. Rolling the chassis on a desk should also be smooth and quiet without any resistance or noise.
Superficial cleaning and inspection are enough with the electric components. It’s good to check that the speed controller’s fan works and can spin freely. Also check that all the components are not coming loose. Check that all the wires are undamaged and that they’re not getting in the way of the drivetrain.

Just as Compass got close to the door, it suddenly swung open to reveal a smiling marowak.
"Hiya! You're Compass the Quilava, right? From Team Arrow?"
Compass had known it'd be a marowak, but it was awkward all the same. "Uh, yes! Compass the Quilava, here to observe rescue operations in Amari Village."
"It's wonderful to meet you! I'm Melody, Melody the Marowak. Though, I guess you already knew that, haha!" Melody turned to look inside the base. "Absoool, our guest is here!"
An absol stepped into the doorway. "Hello. My name is Absol, though I have also taken the name Knight for paperwork reasons."
"That's Knight with a K, by the way~" Melody added. "Though I guess as a dark-type it'd be fitting either way!"
Absol sighed, having heard the joke before. "In any case, we are Team Disaster. You will be joining us for the next few days, is that right?"
Compass nodded. "Right."
"We'll show you around the village then!" Melody said, stepping outside and grabbing Compass by the paw.
"H-hey-"
"There's this great restaurant, and the item shop is right over there- Oh, and you've gotta meet with Elder Torterra!"
Later that day, the group had set out on a rescue mission. During a quiet walk through the area, Melody started chatting. "It's so cool that you're in Team Arrow, Quilava. I've always wanted to meet a member in person before!"
"Really? You know about Team Arrow?"
"Well duh, they're the highest-ranking team in Pokemon Square! How'd you manage to get in? I remember you weren't one of the founding members..."
"Oh, I was friends with the founders. I went on missions with them back when... Um, I don't want to talk about it..."
"Oh... I'm sorry..."
The rest of the walk went quietly; a few comments, occasionally checking the map, a rather uneventful walk. Until suddenly, Melody and Absol stopped and tensed up, looking around. Compass followed their gazes, but saw nothing...
"CHAAARGE!!" A hoard of rattata burst from the brush, running at the group from all sides! Compass kept their distance, stepping back and staying aware of their surroundings as they blasted back the ratatta with bolts of flame! But Compass immediately noticed that despite their enthusiasm, the rattata tended to stay down or retreat after a single hit; they were just a bunch of kids and teenagers. Compass shifted tactics, scaring them off with waves of flame and shoving away the ones that got close.
As the rattata fled from the fearsome flames, Compass saw Team Disaster being... less gentle; Absol pounced and scratched with their claws, using their horn to slash away any rattata that jumped at them. Compass didn't hold it against them too much; it's self defense, and none of the rattata looked seriously injured, including the ones Melody beat back. But Melody...
Melody clonked one on the head with their bone club, then whipped around to backfist one behind them. They kicked and punched with a look of focus and determination behind their helmet. Compass had seen a few cubone, even watched them fight, but this... This wasn't how a cubone fights...
With one last kick, the last rattata was sent scurrying away. The ones on the ground had eventually gotten up and run off as well. And then, like flipping a switch, Melody's posture shifted. "Phew! Well that was a shock! You okay, Quilava?"
But Compass stood still, their mouth agape, staring at the marowak.
"Um, Quilava?.. Do you need an oran?"
Looking at the bubbly, friendly marowak, Compass would've doubted themself, if they hadn't spotted a familiar flash of fear in their eyes. "Thorn..?"
Their expression instantly turns serious. "We're a Silver Rank team. We average 15 jobs a week, and get consistently high reviews. You can check our records, we've never done anything worthy of even a warning. We're helping people. I'M helping people."
"W-what? Wait, what are you talking about?"
"If you put me away, there's going to be a lot fewer jobs getting done. The disasters are gone, Alice the Human is dead, the hunt is over, and it's best for everyone if you keep it that way."
"Hold on, slow down, what is going on!?"
Absol said, "If we want to win them over, should we mention that we saved the world?"
Alice rolled their eyes. "Come on, there's no way they'd believe-"
"YOU SAVED THE WORLD!?!"
Alice sighed. "Right. Forgot who we were dealing with. Look, Compass, I know I did a lot of bad stuff. I know I hurt people. But I'm making up for it, I'm doing good. So before you run away and call the cops again, let's PLEASE just talk this out, okay?"
Compass had only just finished putting together what little they knew about what happened to Alice, and a hurricane questions was still tearing through their mind. There was so much they wanted to know, so much they wanted to say, but one thing stood above all. "... I'm so glad you're alive."

hello all, admin lex here. i know this may come as more of a surprise to some of you than others, but after some very long talks yesterday, we’ve decided it’s time to close RTR. activity has been fizzling out for a while, and i think with the way we have things set up, this wasn’t a group that could last longterm anyway - essentially, we feel as if this group has come to the conclusion of its natural lifespan.
but! it isn’t all bad news. gray, andres, and i are working on another project, an au pokemon group, and we’re hoping to see some of you there! (rtr members will have first pick on characters, before apps are open to the public) sop hopefully this won’t be the end of the fantastic group of people we’ve gathered together!
i’ll talk more about this in the discord, so feel free to take any questions to me there, or send a message to the rtr blog. (i’m also going to keep the discord open possibly indefinitely, so dw about losing that!)
it’s been a lot of fun though, and i want to thank all of you so, so much for sticking around this past half a year or so, it was probably the best time i’ve had staffing for a group!
i will post a notice on this blog as well, when the main blog for the other group we’re planning is up.

now that we know caineghis’ statline (47|37|23|37|30)I think that it’s safe to say that he’s not going to be nearly as awful as his base kit made him seem to be.
like yeah he’s not going to be super fun to face and I’m not going to pretend that he’s going to be easy to deal with but there are ways to get around his strengths beyond “let him attack you” and “use a range 1 unit”. He has no immediate answer to charged specials (either from your own team support or through charges obtained by dealing with his teammates), combat boosts, debuffs, non-blade bonus damage (wrath, wo dao, giga excalibur, light’s brand, etc.), AoE damage, or eff. against armored weapons and any changes made to his build will create some other hole in his seemingly impenetrable armor through which you can now reach in and tear him apart. It’s a little different in the arena because at high-level play you’re all but required to get kills through bonus units if you want to do well, but outside of that your teams shouldn’t be relying on a single method to get kills in the first place.
this happens every time intsys releases a colorless unit that’s even remotely not mediocre. you couldn’t rock-paper-scissors your way through brave lyn and you couldn’t do it through brave veronica and you couldn’t do it through duma and you won’t be able to do to get through caineghis so it’s, once again, on you to find a strategy that will work.

You wanna know why I love VM…??? This story:
So in 2018 they were nominated for a people’s choice award.. the PCA’s are a pack of shit.. like all awards like that they are a popularity contest and legit these days just based on social media hype.
In fact that’s exactly what their “award category” was; ‘Most hype worthy 🇨🇦’. It was based on the fact that they went batshit crazy viral during the olys coz apparently everyone was getting pregnant just watching them. The majority of people voting in these award shows are not reading any substantive articles about VM (not that there were many), or immersing themselves in their expansive and wildly impressive legacy of ice dancing programs. It wasn’t in recognition of their athletic talent and hard work, the fact that they actually WON the olys - under the circumstances they did non the less ( they would’ve been nominated had they not won anyway), their incredible 20+ year career achievements or the greater impact and legacy they have left on their sport and sports in general.
It was in recognition of the SM storm that surrounded them in PYC. People just deciding that because they themselves were getting all hot and bothered watching VM that TS must be a “couple” and the (at least majority of) people voting for them were doing so for that reason. I highly doubt their colleagues from skate Canada or even their coaches were voting for them. Because this pop culture shit is so far removed from their profession and given the type of people they are- personal sphere as well. They could not care less about that crap (their agents maybe did) but TS could not have cared less. Scott probably would have had to been told what the PCA’s even were- remember this is the guy who essentially only willingly listens to pop music every 4 years at the olys.. they are so removed from any of that “Hollywood shit”. I don’t know how different culture is in Canada given its proximity to the US, or how ‘Americanised’ society is (is some ways I get the vibes that it’s even less americanised than the culture here in 🇦🇺) but from VM at least I get the feeling they are very removed from that culture and Canadians very clearly have their own identity and pure at heart values.
Literally, other “celebrities” on the carpet at that “awards show” when asked if VM were gonna be there said quote “Are they here!?!?!! They are like sex on a rink!”. There are people who legit thought that just being in the presence of VM would be able to savour in some kind of radiating burning sexual energy.. (I was talking to another blog on here who said when they went to see RTR everyone around them in the crowd were staring at VM with this increasingly disturbing, filthy, leering energy- so obviously it lasted and was wide reaching) That’s what the hype was. And VM didn’t deliberately make people feel that- this isn’t their fault. They just did their thing like they had always done, and it was the media who made this into a whole thing. And it’s not as tho I’m surprised by it at this point, or even bother getting angry about it.. that’s just what society has become in the age of social media- the ability for talented, beyond special people to be objectified like this on the internet- and then have that objectification be rewarded and given more attention. The award wasn’t for VM- is was for all the people dedicated to objectifying them for personal gratification. (* I don’t mean offence- I know there were several genuine fans of theirs who voted for them coz they love them which is great- I just mean in general).
I’m not saying people were wrong in getting hyped about them- the PYC olys were where I first took real notice of VM. But as I’ve mentioned- it wasn’t for any of those superficial things. It’s maybe because I come from a similar world to VM and I have a better understanding of what they do with their dancing -I can relate to them in that manner so I just naturally have a different perspective on it ( I’m not trying to make out I’m better or smarter than these people that got hyped over the sex appeal- I just naturally saw through that with VM’s skating)..
SO… the reason I love VM…
Is with all that.. all that happened on the internet surrounding them. They were essentially in a SM blackout during the olys. They didn’t find out about the majority of this viral stuff till they got home- or at least when they were done competing.. and they came home and their lives were crazy- barely getting a break for several months then producing and performing in their own tour till the end of the year. And while some of the immediate hype faded after the olys; just faded into another news cycle, a lot of it stayed.. and it stayed in a very toxic way. Every tiny little thing about them on SM was scrutinised.. they probably had some idea, but couldn’t know the extent of it. And if I prayed I would so hope they never will. People that kind and loving and good hearted don’t deserve that.
So when they were nominated for a PCA and probably legit thought nothing of it.. the good the bad.. whatever, the fact that they thought wouldn’t win against the other nominees, who were VM in this field?
Then they WON
and their reaction to winning, the surprise, shock, confusion..
Then what they say about it.. that they are so touched and honoured that they have that kind of support. That they had made the impact they did. That since they were little kiddos together they had been made to feel a sense of limitlessness and if there’s one thing they can inspire in the next generation it’s that. To never feel like you can’t dream.
I like I said.. they aren’t stupid.. they would know there was hype around them and specifically their relationship.. they had dealt with that since they were teenagers. Probed about it in interviews and especially every 4 years dealing with renewed intensity of that as SM grew more overreaching. But whether they truly understood what that award was in recognition of- what the so called ‘HYPE’ was about.. they CHOSE to believe it was for their talent as artists and athletes. It was in recognition of their work ethic- both athletically and the work they had put into their relationship. That what people see between them on the ice is love- but a love based on the care and respect and trust they have for one another. Their artistic intuition and having such a commanding presence their story stretched and resonated across the globe..
Of their huge fan base, a lot was likely created out of PYC and the “HYPE”. But their genuine fans are those who saw that spark, the chemistry and love for each other and what they do with each other, and accepted it for what it is. Stayed with them though out their competitive career pre- PYC, after through all that “HYPE”, tours and other projects, then through retirement and continuing to worship the artists and athletes they are and be inspired by them.
I’m not saying there’s only one way to love them, but the intention of your love should be pure. There is more to get hyped about with them past the burning desire and deliberately provocative choreography. What I’m saying is love them for who they are.. not some made up, internet-fabricated relationship rumours.

Mark, I was doing some research and I noticed that the Bloodrush and Channel abilities are exactly the same. Yet, you rate one as a 6 on the Storm scale and the other as a 7. Why the difference? And can you share any insight as to how the latter got renamed to the former with the RtR block?
Bloodrush is a subset of Channel.
