You shuffle around in your seat for what must be the 30th time in the last 5 minutes, your eyes dart up from the table and land on your mother she’s got fat you try and fail to hide the snort that leaves your lips at the untimely comment “something funny, little torch?” the nickname has you gritting your teeth “no ma’am” your brother leans across the bench “I heard your taking a girl to that stupid school dance” you freeze “yeah the raven” your mother cocks an eyebrow “a girl? What we raised someone gay now?” y/n cool it you take a breath “looks like it Tracy” “jack what you think of this” jacks your second oldest brother born 2 years after callum you don’t like to admit it, but he scares you 6ft and all muscle.

“I think I gotta teach our little torch a lesson” your head turns at the comment looking for enid your heart sinks at the realisation that the only other family in the quad are the addams’s “no common please” your aware of how small your voice is and you don’t like it before she can reply your being hauled out of your seat and a fist connects with your stomach he grabs the back of your hoodie pulling you towards the exit, panic floods through you and in a last ditch effort to avoid whatever your oh so loving family has in store for you a name falls from your lips “enid” it’s small at first but the further away from the bench jack drags you and the more you thrash the louder you get and soon your crying out her name “enid enid please” “shut up” your brother grunts as he throws you on the stairs.

From your angle on the floor you realise that Wednesday isn’t sat with her family huh? Is that really what I should be thinking about right now? Cover your head y/n fuck cover your head cals voice snaps you out of your thoughts and your arms shoot up to cover your head unfortunately not in time to stop the kick that leaves you seeing starts “fuck” you groan out and brace yourself for the next blows that surprisingly don’t come, when your vision finally clears you see enid thank you thank you thank you and Wednesday she has a knife to jacks throat “now you get away from my child” your mothers hurrying towards your little huddle “enid?” she’s by your side as soon as she hears your voice “im here, I got you” black dots start swimming in your eyes as a tall figure steps out protectively infront of you “and you stay away from mine” yes ma you tell the bitch the world goes black.

When you wake theres a hand in yours and a very worried looking weems stood by the end of your bed “ma” she smiles “your ok” “is that a question or a statement because if it’s a question the answers no” enid chuckles from your side “she’s fine” she kisses your forhead and stands “i’ll give you guys some space” you nod and as soon as the curtains slip shut you eye your hands and let out a sheepish “hi ma” larissa let’s out a dry chuckle “I thought i said no letting my sister visit y/n” she’s mad and you know it “ma im sorry” she hums “detention, 2 weeks with miss thornhill” you groan “yes mam, could you send enid in?” she leaves without another word and enid pops her head in “you called” you give her a toothy smile “come cuddle” she clambers into your bed in the infirmary with the grace of an exited puppy and pulls you into her chest you nuzzle your head into her neck happily “hey you and Wednesday?” enid sighs “we had a little chat, actually it was interrupted when I heard you calling for me” you bury your head into her neck in embarrassment “oh god don’t remind me” she traces love hearts on the back of your neck “what were you and nes talking about” “I think me and her should finish that convo before I get you involved babe” “babe huh? What are we girlfriends” you wiggle your eyebrows and she giggles “not yet miss eager, soon maybe” “ohhhh only maybe? Nah I get it the pyro isn’t good enough for you” she rolls her eyes “whatever you say y/n, now get some rest” you smile as your eyes get heavy.

Your head throbs as you crack your eyes open for the second time today, enid is nowhere to be found and you ignore the pang of hurt that flashes through you, opting to send her a text

7:34pm

(y/n): hey, woke up and you were gone :(

You set your phone aside as someone peeks in at you “she’s alive!” you giggle at your roommate “unfortunately” she climes into bed next to you pulling you in for a hug “you have a concussion, they cleared you to go back to your dorm I came to get you” she catches how your face falls “what’s up n/n” “enid left without a goodbye” yoko gasps “does this call for our first girls night of the year” you swat at her knee “your far too exited but yes I gotta fill you in”

You grab another biscuit as you lay with your head in yokos lap looking up at her as she lights the 3rd splif of the evening “I don’t know it’s like she’s there and then she’s not” you huff and steal the splif “we haven’t even spoken about matching outfits for the raven and it’s this weekend” ghosted “oh shut up callum your not helping” yoko raises an eyebrow “have you texted her recently” you shoot up “yes hours ago” you reach for your phone that you’d haphazardly thrown at your pillows in frustration.

(enid❤️): hey baby sorry I had some stuff to sort out

You leave her on seen, “one message, one singular message” you put on a voice “I had some stuff to sort out” you take another hit passing it back to yoko “let’s go for a midnight walk, please?” she stands and shrugs her coat on, she knows better than to try and say no to you. You strut down the corridors yoko following happily before passing you the splif when you reach the quad, you all but throw yourself on the fountain in frustration giggling at the way yoko looks from this angle not to be a snitch but enid’s trying to slink off over there your head shoots up and you see her and Wednesday scurrying off what the fuck? “addams” your voice echo’s through the empty quad and she freezes, enid turns around and clasps her hands infront of her “baby he” “don’t” you cut her off eyes not leaving the goths back “come, raven” ohhh your in your manipulative girl era ok that was kinda funny you watch as the notoriously uncaring girl falls over herself to get to you, your well aware of what’s coming so you stand not wanting you both to be thrown into the fountain reaching your hand out offering the splif back to yoko “3 then im killing it” again she knows not to argue. Wednesdays small form collides into you, her hands grabbing at the back of your jacket like you might disappear, she presses a soft kiss to your collarbone and sniffles slightly.

You push her away as enid approaches a shy smile on her face, yoko hands you the splif here we go “we need to talk” you hum, unsatisfied with her choice of words “I gathered that, your dorm or mine” Wednesdays hand grabs your sleeve and enid reaches for her wrist pulling you along “ours” what is this? Peter pan? Yes im going to follow you both to your dorm in a line you pause i’d follow you both anywhere actually you shoot a look at yoko over your shoulder pulling the only half smoked gone out splif from your mouth holding it in your hand “text me” she calls “i’ll come get you” you give her a stiff nod before your whisked out of view. ———————————————————————

im curious how you envision lightning ending up in radiator springs in the human-verse. i don't think you've mentioned it in any of your fics (except maybe that one chapter of whumptober). if you have put absolutely no thought into it that ignore this lol

I spent all day thinking about this

So. I have left.... .. Many things ambiguous cause I couldn't figure out how to make it fit exactly in the human!verse side of things XD

But I, like everyone else, have Thoughts:

Let's start with the trailers: so there are some very obvious differences in my human!verse and NASCAR, though I do take a lot of inspiration from irl racing (mainly the racing aspect itself). But where a lot of NASCAR drivers fly to their races, most of the guys in the human!verse here will ride in a trailer, either in the same trailer as their cars (basically a small room just for them tucked in the very back of the trailer closest to the truck part) or in a separate trailer that's very RV-like, depending on how much $$$ the sponsors want to spend. so, for example, Dinoco obviously would go the two-trailer way if not just outright flying the King out to a race if it's far (or with Cal's run, just opt to go the RV route since the two are family and live together easier than a lot of crew chief/driver combos can), where early on Rust-Eze isn't going to or has the money to spend on buying rookie Lightning a whole other trailer, especially if he doesn't have a crew chief sharing the space with him. So for his rookie year he's staying in a small, cramped trailer room that's very reminiscent of a small, pop-up camper room if you've ever stayed in one of those. It's got the bare minimum and the door opens along the side to the outside world or directly into the trailer where the car is.

The car, usually packed up by the pit crew, has to be secured by Mack this time, who is used to securing regular cargo from his past jobs and does not tie down the wheels correctly. there is no pit crew to double check and lightning, who does know how to do it properly, is too prissy to check it himself.

And lightning, being the drama (mc)queen he is, will sometimes opt to sit in the car in the trailer rather than the cramped bedroom (not that the car is any less cramped with the way the seat is but it's his happy place whether he'll admit it or not)

And same as the movie, he promises he'll stay up with Mack and falls asleep anyways, just in the driver's seat of the car (impressive, since those are Not comfy and he's still in his fire suit from earlier (stinky boy))

And same as movie, one of those toys on the shelves falls and opens the back door when Mack falls asleep behind the wheel and ends up in the rumble strips. The car, secured incorrectly, gets shaken out of the straps and starts creeping down the ramp until it ends up stock-still and facing backwards on an active highway.

Which is Bad news.

Lightning wakes to cars dodging him and he manages to start the car and whip it around in an adrenaline-fueled record time.

Mack is gone

And (because it's funny) Lightning's drivers licence is useless here (it's a Florida license and as someone who held a fl license for a while, in some places they do not give a fuck, they'll pretty much throw that thing at you and call for the next person) so it's been, oh, a few years since he's been behind the wheel of a car in a real road (I hc him as somewhere around 23-24 in the first movie) and between that and the adrenaline, he can't remember how to read the road signs to tell him where to go (and it's not like any of them are saying LA yet, theyre still a ways out.)

The rest of his chaotic journey through to RS is the same in the movie just cause that's my favorite scene in the movie and idc if it'd be impossible in real life. it's fun.

And I'm torn with Mack's side of things between not changing it and him stopping at a rest stop, getting something from inside, and as he comes back out seeing the back open and panicking bc he thinks someone stole the 95, only to then find Lightning missing and then thinking someone stole the 95 *and* kidnapped Lightning. Poor Mack.

So yeah. This was mostly me talking through the logistics of how trailers work in my human!verse but I feel like that's really important to how I imagine Lightning ending up in RS. Of course, after doc and everyone joins, Rust-Eze splurges on a whole other RV-like trailer for Lightning and Doc, with the others usually being put up in a hotel nearby or something. Rust-Eze not having an RV trailer is why in 'beginning another end' Doc and Lightning stay in a motel overnight. Even though Mack and the 95 trailer were still there, Lightning hates the little bedroom and opted to stay in a shitty motel room w Doc instead (also he has separation anxiety lol)

And in 'straight and narrow' lightning sits up in the front with poor Mack (who usually sleeps in the attached bedroom on the truck cab, which is not too dissimilar to Lightning's trailer room, just that Lightning has a smidge more standing room in his)

(So in my fics, when I say 'trailer' it's usually referring to something like an RV bus. Who drives it? Idk yall just roll with it lol)

Basically this puzzle boiled down to:

How does lightning end up separated from Mack and the trailer?

How does the car end up separated from the trailer?

How do the two get separated together?

How does Mack not notice until LA (or sooner, depending)?

I lean this way personally rather than the other popular version (also the movie writers' original version of events i believe) where lightning is accidentally left behind at a rest stop (which is also very valid!!) just because personally it doesn't answer more questions for me than it generates (but my alt events for Mack kind of pays homage to it bc it's still a very good version of events).

Lightning being separated with the car is important for obvious reasons and the og movie had a plausible swiss-cheese of events, so all I think it needs is some light tweaking before we got something just as (humanly ;)) plausible on our hands.

I have no idea if this answers your question or if I just went on the most unhinged ramble :)

In case anyone was wondering if you can do the final fight in Jedi Survivor without using the dark side -

you can't.

I tried it on my first play-through. I was so devastated that Cal was using the dark side that I refused to play with it.

The game mechanics literally don't let you not use it. Cal's vision starts "fading to black" and a prompt showed up on my xbox "press LS and RS to give in to Cal's darkness" and I was YELLING at my screen with my dad because I did not want to, but the game literally won't let you continue the fight without it because it's so crucial to Cal's development and all he's going through.

Which, I know is just what the devs have in mind but meta-wise says so much about what he was going through mentally. Try as he might have, he was so consumed in that moment that the pure rage of betrayal really truly clouded him over.

I am absolutely exhausted, I've been busy with a lot of things and I think I'm done with everything for a while. We finished repairs on the island, I think we will have to move locations again. The volcano got infested, and that's not even to begin on the fact we got attacked by a kraken.

Real. Metal band recs?

STEP INTO MY OFFICE I HAVE MANY

My current favourite is Polaris, they're from NSW. Ryan Siew was one of the best guitarists of our generation I'm so serious, I'm gutted I never got to see him live. He may not be the vocalist but he truly sings nonetheless. Favourites include The Remedy, Martyr, Relapse, Masochist, Aftertouch, Inhumane. I'm seeing them again in July and I'm so excited.

Alien Weaponry I must recommend because how often do you hear thrash in te reo Māori. They're a lesser known band so could really use some listens

If you want to hear women making sounds that make people go "wait that's her doing that?" Spiritbox and Jinjer are your go-tos. Courtney LaPlante is a siren for real. She's not just one of the best female vocalists in metal, she's one of the best vocalists out there, across any genre and any gender, period. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone else with her range. Circle with Me, Blessed Be and Shivering are good places to start.

I actually recommended this band earlier today but Landmvrks is a metalcore band, their vocalist has a really unique sound I quite like, though it may not be for everyone. They're French and something I always appreciate is when a vocalist's real accent comes through. His tone can be more high pitched and screechy than metal vocalists usually aim for, but it definitely stands out and kinda gives a punkish twist to their sound. Creature is my favourite song by them, however if you were ever a pop punk enjoyer I highly recommend their recent cover of Fat Lip, it fucks.

If you want something heavier than metalcore, Sepultura rule. They're from Brazil, I actually saw them live kinda by accident while waiting for While She Sleeps to come on at Good Things last year, their frontman seemed like the chillest dude and was so grateful to the crowd idk I just think they're neat. They're an older band, like 80s/90s so they have a more classic style. Very cool.

Slaughter to Prevail obviously gets a rec because, I cannot stress this enough, you know how you can roll Rs? Alex uses that technique to scream in the song Viking. Again I saw them by accident at Good Things while waiting for WSS but I was further back/trying to fight my way in and didn't know them at the time. Sad.

While She Sleeps are an English band, funnily enough I only have one liked song (doesn't mean much I just listen to the albums when I want to) which is Division Street, a very down tempo song but there is just something about it yk.

I'm going to stop typing paragraphs for each one because I realised I have so many so here are some more to check out: Currents (check out Monsters and Let Me Leave), The Hu (AKA the Jedi Cal Kestis' favourite band, features throat singing and Mongolian folk elements), Caskets (Lost in Echoes), I Prevail (check out Gasoline, Body Bag, I saw the lead frontman do a shoey out of a prosthetic leg at Good Things which isn't relevant but is the best thing I've ever seen), Architects my beloved (listen to Animals, Tear Gas, Deepfake) and finally Dream Widow, which is a band/thrash metal album created by Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters for the movie Studio 666 and it kinda fucks actually

Consegui não comer até agora depois que comi ontem de madrugada mesmo jurando que n ia comer rs tô a 16h de NF e vou ficar no mínimo até amanhã quando acordar/amanhã a tarde, se conseguir ficar mais tempo melhor aindaa

Minha média da semana ficou 779 cals por dia oq n é ruim mas é péssima se pensar q eu fiquei 3 dias de NF, nos dias que eu comi eu passei mttt das kcals :(
