You know what really fucking Annoys Me about internet censorship is stuff like swear words being heavily censored because that's entirely an American cultural hangup being forced on the rest of us. I don't know a single country where swearing is as taboo as it is in America. In fact most languages have swear words that would have the same effect on an American as giving a Victorian chimney sweep a pepsi max cherry.

I am, hello!

It makes me so happy people are still loving this fic despite the years long haitus, out of every fic I've written, this one I really hold dearest to my heart.

The characters imo are what make a story work, fanfiction or original, so I put a lot of effort into character analysis. One of my favorite parts of my fanfic process is building up backstory we don't see in canon that supports character behavior/actions in both canon and the story I'm trying to tell! Like, I have an extensive backstory written for Viktor, so much of which may never be mentioned in the series because it keeps me consistent in writing him! (Though may share snippets of that here if I'm asked...)

Do you think he could ever be convinced it wasn't his fault? That his mind, the way he thought and felt and processed the world around him had been altered by the Hexcore, that he came back wrong and not entirely himself?

And then he finally came back in the end, still with all the memories of being the Machine Herald, of making the decisions of someone experiencing a reality incompatible with his human mind.

He asks how Jayce could want him after what he'd done, as if a Viktor who never died and came back with a mind and body corrupted by something with its own alien thoughts and desires would have done it all the same.

I hope wherever they are, Viktor knows it wasn't his fault.
