like ultimately i'm for a point where gender is not a strict thing that everyone recognizes as innate and i agree with the fact that some opposition of gender norms subtly reinforces them (ex. "i'm not a girl because i don't do girl things" or the reverse) but while we're in this hell of sex and gender-based oppression (which we will be for a long time) i look at every masculine woman with the largest heart eyes imaginable.
invent yourself completely. steal things from men because butches do it better. men never owned any of those traits in the first place. make up entirely new fucking genders and ways of life because all of it is fluid!
work together to use our influence over the queer community, especially the younger queer community, which is growing up online with extreme exposure to racism and misogyny. knock down their perceptions of "man" and "woman". encourage them to treat everyone as a human person. things have been and are still terribly shitty, but they get better. i have to believe in a better future.
(and in queer spaces: demand our agency. assert our space and our rights within those spaces. be aggressive. and work with people who engage in good faith but feel free to go apeshit on the others. work with those that share our perception-based oppression, and those who do not. the modern queer movement has problems but it is not nearly as reductive as trfs say it is. we're all fighting against our taught perceptions every day and there is history and progress being made in those spaces. share our history!! we can move forwards!!)

Italy’s post-RRF spending cuts create risky case for EU funding
The Italian government’s draft decision to use resources from the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Fund (RRF) to cut public spending risks setting a dangerous precedent for future EU co-financing, Italian MEP Rosa D’Amato of the Greens and the European Free Alliance group told Euractiv.
She warned that the decision signed by Italian economy and interior ministers Giancarlo Giorgetti and Matteo Piantedosi, which includes budget cuts for municipalities and regions, will hit hardest local authorities, which have been among the main recipients of RRF funds since the pandemic, and will particularly affect southern regions.
The funding cuts, which will form part of the Meloni government’s forthcoming spending review, involve a €1.25bn reduction in spending between 2024 and 2028 – 50 per cent of current spending and a further 50 per cent of “contributions allocated to each authority from RRF funds.”
In a letter sent to European Commissioner for the Economy Paolo Gentiloni on Wednesday and made available to Euractiv, the Greens MEP asked for a formal assessment of the measure to determine whether it violates the RRF’s objectives.
She said the move would breach the principle of additionality enshrined in Article 5 of the 2021 RRF measure, which states that “support from the fund does not replace budgetary expenditure and respects the principle of additionality.”
RRF funding totalled €6.1bn and covered public crèches and kindergartens as well as urban development projects. Marco Leonardi, professor of economics at the University of Milan, told Euractiv:
From the very beginning, municipalities have warned the government of the risk of making investments such as in kindergartens and then being left without the current expenditure transfer needed to hire, for example, kindergarten teachers.
Leonardi said the cuts envisaged in the draft regulation, which are based on RRF payments, are “exactly the opposite of what should be done and are an incredible negation of the core principle of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRP)” – the national rollover of the RRF programme.

hello!!! i'm what would be considered newly exposed to radfem theory/somebody that noticed just how ineffective liberal feminism is today. i have a question that's been on my mind for a while and i was hoping to get this answer from a lesbian!!!
so, on the basis that (most?) sexual attraction is sex-based, as in a lesbian might find a trans guy hot because he's female/afab, or a gay guy might find a trans women hot because she's male/amab, does it mean that sexual attraction is inherently transphobic/discriminatory against trans people? ive been trying to answer this myself by doing some research, watching videos etc. i've come to the conclusion that someone could say that they indeed are, but at the same time, it can't be that black and white. then i stopped because i realized that's a whole new conversation on "genital preferences" and my head started hurting. but i wanted your opinion on it as you happen to be a woman who experiences same sex attraction.
thank you in advance :D!!!
hello! i obviously do not speak for all lesbians, nor am i educated in the sciences of sexual attraction. sexual attraction is not inherently based on genitalia. have you ever been attracted to someone you saw out at a club or on the street? it's safe to say the majority of people have. congrats, you just experienced sexual attraction that wasn't sex-based!
in fact, purely sex-based sexual attraction would have to occur only upon contact with genitalia, which is not how people experience the world! lesbians have been trying to explain for years that no, we're not a threat to other people designated as women around us, in locker rooms, bathrooms, etc, because we do not experience attraction simply from seeing another body. "attraction to women" does not mean attraction to all female bodies. sexual attraction is not "inherently transphobic" because sexual attraction is not a binary, same as sex and gender are not a binary. we have not been able to identify any switches in our brains or structures that make people entirely same-sex or opposite-sex attracted. research on genes associated with same-sex behavior in humans "suggests that there is no single continuum from opposite-sex to same-sex sexual behavior", as well as stating that it is impossible to determine someone's sexual preference simply by looking at their brain.
now, as a lesbian, i resent this sentiment that biology says in likelihood there is no switch in my brain that says "no men". brother sign me the FUCK up for the no man switch!! however, cultural aspects of sexuality are, in my mind, a much larger part of sexual development than the "born this way" culture of the 2000's to 2010's suggests. if you don't want to have sex with men (as i don't), that is entirely your prerogative, and, as far as i'm concerned, that makes you a lesbian.
the concept of genital preference is complicated by the popularity of strap-ons in lesbian spaces, as well as post-op trans people. my personal opinion is that genital preference is absolutely present in some people. however, there are happy lesbians in healthy relationships with pre-op or no-op transfems. there are straight men in healthy relationships with pre-op or no-op transfems. essentially, humans are messy. same as there is nothing in our brains designating us as "female" or "male" (even after years of socialization and hormones), there is nothing in our brains strictly defining our attraction to one set of genitalia or the other. attraction is a combination of social factors and hormones. i'm happy to expand upon any part of this response, or answer further questions.
#feminism#radical feminism#reclaim radical feminism#rrf#attraction#the person whose study and book i linked at the end have inspired much of this#i disagree with her stance on the occupation. her work on gender and sex is enlightening#although she tends to conflate the two especially at the end of gender mosaic#eg “world without gender” describing a world where the concept of gender is not abolished#but differences are not made by birth sex and gender is not assigned at birth#gender#gender studies#tirf#[

One thing I wish people would realize about Rob is he literally had to fend for himself when he was forced out of the village. Who knows what he was up to all those years away but I'm sure not all of it was easy. He likely learned how be ruthless and manipulative and to put himself first before anyone else most of the time as a way to survive. Which I think is a part of why we see him acting the way he does when he comes home. And I'm not defending all of Rob's behavior. A lot of stuff he did especially during the affair era and especially to Aaron was awful. Still I think a lot of it connects back to Jack and being torn away from everything he ever knew and loved.
Multiple times throughout the affair Rob expresses to Aaron how he can't lose Chrissie (like she's this super important person to him) and I'm sure a part of him did care about her but I'm not sure he was ever truly in love with her. If he was I don't think he was still feeling the same by the time things started between him and Aaron.
What I think Chrissie really meant to Rob was a sense of security. She represented a home, a job, a way of life, and an image he felt like he needed to upload then. When Rob talks about his fear of losing Chrissie and lashes out at Aaron it's less about not wanting Aaron and wanting Chrissie but more about what each of them represents.
Aaron is Rob's soulmate and even though neither knew that way back then they definitely knew they had a strong connection right from the jump:
I met you and you changed everything.
You were all that I wanted. You were all I could think about. I was just petrified of what it meant.
Rob felt strongly about Aaron right away and that's all the more reason why he kept pushing him away because he wasn't ready to be his true self yet. Any hint that he might lose the facade he'd built with Chrissie like Chrissie finding out the truth about the break in or Aaron even hinting to telling her about the affair had Rob lashing out like a scared caged animal.
