okay sorry there’s so much to address with shiv but the way she’s so immediately ready for the worst. roman and ken get told first but they’re completely unable to understand what’s happening for several minutes. all ken has to do is come up to shiv and say her name before she goes “mom?” (hoping it is) knowing someone is dead. or something similarly bad. and she doesn’t waffle she is straight into the most vulnerable, emotional version of shiv we have seen yet, asking ‘daddy’ to please not go. shiv roy and her fucking issues and the way she is always always prepared for the worst. knowing she is going to be left by people she loves. what the hell was that about.

As someone who grew up in a pretty dysfunctional family and had a strange relationship with dad - and thus messy reactions to his passing- the comic relief the roy kids try to give themselves by roasting their father, their anger about him not being around, their complication about their feelings, the fact that they still loved him, its truly the most realistic depiction of grief i have ever seen
