I was bored and decided to put too much effort into assigning ACNH characters to YTTD characters. No one asked but everyone will get it anyway.

Sara got Maple (It's kind of sad that Maple didn't get Maple, but oh well...). I just thought it would be a good choice for Sara. And also Maple's education hobby was a deciding factor for this.

Reko got Cherry. I don't think I have to explain it. Cherry also looks like NaoReko child. She got sisterly personality and music hobby. It's a perfect character for Reko.

Nao got Poppy. Poppy just reminded me a little about Nao, so I decided to go with this choice. 💖

Kanna got Lily. I can't explain it but I just felt it with my soul, lol. And because they're both really cute and they both will take over the world soon. <33

Joe got Kevin. Kevin just looked a little like Joe. Plus, in ACNH he got a jock personality, what gives me Joe's vibe, so I went with Kevin.

Keiji got Kyle. Do I need to explain? Just look at his eyes. His cranky personality is visible from far away already.

Q-Taro got Rory. Red hair and jock personality? Yup, that's him. It's a shame Rory didn't have fitness hobby. An alternative choice was Mott, who is a jock and got a fitness hobby, but Mott didn't really give me Q-Taro's vibe.

Gin got Dom. I was thinking for a while about who Gin should get. And in the end I decided to go with Dom. This rainbow spiral also reminded me and @goldyluna about rainbow infinity symbol, what is also a symbol of autism, so it was a deciding factor for me. Also, Gin and Dom are cute, so they're perfect.

Kai got Chief. A cranky cook that looks like he would also be your bodyguard. This is them.

Shin got Wolfgang. I must admit, it was kind of hard for me to choose someone for Shin. Especially because I really wanted personality to be at least similar. So I decided to choose Wolfgang, who is cranky. ✨ And for me he kind of looks like Shin.

Mishima got Cobb. I don't think I have to explain. The looks. The personality. The hobby. It's full-blooded Mishima. Jock whose hobby is education. It's him in another universe, in universe of crossing animals.

Alice got Lobo. Similarly to Shin, I had some trouble with choosing someone for Alice. But in the end I think Lobo is a good choice for him. ✨

Sue Miley got Kitty. No special reason behind this, I just thought Kitty would be a nice choice for Sue Miley. :3 meow

Tia Safalin got Deena. Very cute, both liking education. Tia is Deena and Deena is Tia.

Maple got Merry. They both look like a nice company for some tea. Also, Merry's fringe gives me Maple's vibe. <3

I was trying to choose characters that are at least similar from personality and looks, but it was not always possible. I still had fun doing this, so I'm sharing this little project of mine. I wasn't able to say much about some of them because I just had a feeling about certain characters, and that's why I wasn't able to give arguments for some. But well, it was just how I felt and I'm sure some of you would choose someone completely different. And I'll be happy to hear your opinions about it. <3

hi rosie !! my holidays are so chill i am having a blast <33 hope you're having a good month too ! i am glad you asked! i am going to use this opportunity to share all the bird choices that were requested that i never ended up drawing!:

Athena Cykes: Golden Masked Owl - @/modpoppy helped with his one. Owl is so perfect to me because Athena (goddess of wisdom who has an association with owls) (also just wisdom being associated with owls). Owls have exceptional hearing! They also have ears that are non symmetrical, allowing them to pinpoint where sounds are coming from more accurately, which to me matches Athena's ability to read the emotion of a voice.

Gumshoe: Rock Dove (Pigeon) - these birds are historically trained, good sense of direction, and ones that live in cities are constantly eating crumbs (skull emoji x3)

Redd White: Peacock - I got a few recommendations for a bald eagle, which I totally see the vision for ! But to me, he is a peacock for sure. Pompous as all get out, flashy, show off.

Juniper Woods: Warbling White Eye - pretty green bird, often carries connotations of spring. another idea for her wasa mourning dove. this one is kinda just vibes

Robin Newman: I'm not super decided but maybe a type of kingfisher?

Hugh O'Conner: He gives me such raven vibes but, spoiler alert, Kay is 100000% a raven. If I'm trying not to have duplicates, i'm less sure. A crane hawk, maybe?

Kay Faraday: Raven - In Shinto mythology, I think that Yatagarasu is depicted as a three-legged crow? However, I'm pretty sure in the aa games Kay calls it a 3-legged raven. But if I'm wrong about this please feel free to correct me! Either way it is her x3

Spark Brushel: I never decided for Spark. I was thinking maybe a swallow or a seagull? Swallow because fast, energetic, fits the reporter who always is first to a story vibe. Seagull fits that latter idea, but also has seagull charm x333

Vera Misham: I am not sure of this one either. I know I want a small bird, and one where the males are brighter than the females, like how her dad was the face of their operation, like a songbird, maybe a finch or a bunting. Not sure of specifics.

Okay and then TGAA characters !! I ended up not yet finishing the second game :pensive: so some are missing

Ryuunosuke: Black-Billed Magpie - I also want to switch Phoenix to this one for consistency's sake. This is a lot of the same reasoning as Phoenix being a blue jay originally, so check back to that post if you want more reasoning. (jays and magpies are closely related). Coloration was a big factor in this decision, but also i like the myth that a lone magpie will bring badluck and how that works with the naruhodo family.

Sholmes: a fewwww ideas... though admittedly all vibes. I've racked my brain for him. A pheasant is one way to go. I think my favorite idea is a chicken (golden comet chicken). This is for similar reasons as @\modpoppy gave for buff orpington chicken Bobby Fulbright (that being friendly; golden retriever of birds). If not chicken.. sholmes still feels like a game bird to me..... solely vibes....

Stongheart: golden pheasant LMAOO i don't know why this guy got a bird in my mind before kazuma or susato or iris or etc,,, but he did. good for him. I just think its fits.

REVIEWING THE CHARTS: 14/12/2024 (Sabrina Carpenter, Christmas Garbage)

Another Christmas episode, you know what it is. “Last Christmas” by Wham! returns to the spot – I wrote about it very recently – for an eighth non-consecutive week, and we have more Christmas songs in the top five – “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey at #3 and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee at #5. There are plenty Christmas songs all over the highest reaches of the charts – all but two of the top 10 – so let’s ditch the format and just zip through the UK Singles Chart. Welcome back to REVIEWING THE CHARTS!

Perhaps most notably, there are two new peaks within the top 10 for Christmas singles, those being “It Can’t be Christmas” by Tom Grennan at #6 and, impressively, after a decade and change, “Underneath the Tree” by Kelly Clarkson at #10, whilst Laufey takes “Christmas Magic” to #20 and “Carol of the Bells” by John Williams is for whatever reason up to #49, then Mark Ambor’s cover of “Run Rudolph Run” from last week paces to #60. Outside of festivities, we have the other entries in our top five, “That’s So True” by Gracie Abrams at #2 and “APT.” by ROSÉ and Bruno Mars at #4, then we do see some gains for “Messy” by Lola Young at #11, “Snowman” by Sia at #18 (a festive-themed song, but far from festive), “The Days” by Chrystal at #24, “Die with a Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars at #37, “Good Luck, Babe!” by Chappell Roan at #47, “Dirty Cash (Money Talks)” by PAWSA and The Adventures of Stevie V at #57, “Too Sweet” by Hozier at #59 and “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan at #62. We then have a few holiday returns too, alongside “Burning Down” by Alex Warren back at #68, as we see the annual return of “DJ Play a Christmas Song” by Cher at #73, “Christmas Lights” by Coldplay at #71, and possibly thanks to a virtual duet with BTS member V, “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby at #66.

As for what’s left us to make room, we see the departures of “Disease” by Lady Gaga, “Thick of It” by KSI featuring Trippie Redd, “Sympathy is a knife” by Charli xcx with the remix featuring Ariana Grande, “WILDFLOWER” by Billie Eilish, “Stargazing” by Myles Smith and “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter, which exits to make room for a song that also kind of already charted; I suppose we’ll get into it. Much like we had a couplet of songs, one a Christmas-themed rendition of a prior release, one a newer song from a mid-level album drop, we have much of the same this week… just the female version, as it was two guys last week. Funny how that turns out. Either way, it’ll be yet another quick episode – thankfully since I’ve delayed this enough to get my keyboard fixed, life happens and gets in the way of silly chart reviews. But not anymore!

New Entries

#72 – “toxic till the end” – ROSÉ

BLACKPINK star ROSÉ has been the first to release a full debut album, that being rosie, and whilst I’ve yet to hear the entire record, I do have some hopes for a bubblegum albeit enjoyable pop record, as she has the most significant solo catalogue of a BLACKPINK, and unique production choices and charisma have largely carried those solo singles for me. I wasn’t particularly excited, therefore, seeing Evan Blair, who has worked primarily with safer, modern “teenage” acts like Benson Boone and Nessa Barrett. With that said, though, he pulled through for this one, seemingly the single being pushed from her solo debut currently charting at #4 over on the albums chart. It’s not a remarkable sound, going for a very typical bubbly synth pastiche, but the vocal production does a lot to enhance limited vocal performances and the fizzle of hearing that gated drum against the synthbed is still as effective, perhaps more so, as it would have been for a 2019 Halsey track that similarly mixes those watery sounds with guitars and a whole lot of wavy filtering, especially on the Auto-Tuned vocals, though the sincere bridge on this bitter and justified piss-off, the spoken interlude between verses, it all ends up sounding more sincere. Sure, the song has the length and energy of a hyperpop snippet, but does away with the jaded irony that could easily put me off, especially with such a youthful singer like ROSÉ who will go for the melodrama. Consider me still largely interested in that new album, whenever I get to listen.

#25 – “A Nonsense Christmas” – Sabrina Carpenter

Well, once again, we are stuck with a simple song being redone for this year’s festive season, except in this case, this is actually an older Christmasified rendition of the track, being initially released in 2022, then placed into her fruitcake EP, which debuts this week on the albums chart at #5. Said track is of course “Nonsense”, a hit in itself that I already reviewed when it first charted. The original is silly and smutty in a way that ended up defining her career from then on, though she’s ditched much of the Ariana Grande R&B-pop stylings since for a… “classier” and more vintage style that makes this version, changing the lyrics into Christmas innuendo and adding sleigh bells to the mix, feel a little dated on arrival. Regardless, it’s already out-peaked the original (#32 in 2023, whilst Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” was #1), partly because of her Netflix holiday special I’ve yet to see but I’m sure has the same cheeky appeal as this track, just one that I don’t think will hold year after year.

Conclusion

Well, once again, we have two options but instead of two measly, mediocre offerings, they’re good tracks with little to write home about – consider it a dual Honourable Mention rather than crowning anything a best or worst. It’s the Christmas chart next week, but for now, thank you for reading, long live Cola Boyy and I’ll see you next week!
