NEOCLASSICAL & ROMANTIC ART ⚖️ love, ur local art mom 🩵
disclaimers and more information under the cut ✂️
hi I’m annemarie and I’m an art historian! not adjuncting for the first time in five years was rly hard for me so I threw some slides together so I could still (sort of) teach the same material as my language of art class but a) I threw these slides together for instagram so space was/is limited and b) language of art is a ten week run through art history so I’m presenting only the most accessible information here – there’s so much more to this art period and to these artists! – please don’t expect it to be comprehensive and please do ask if you have any questions!
oh p.s. my first ever class of art history students came up with the name ‘art mom’ for me at the end of the quarter and yes it does make me cry if I think about it too long thanks so much for asking

list of things u can do when your f/o is a surgeon/doctor?? i totally get if you can’t think of anything for this though lmao
- @ssunship
this one is interesting! I'll try my best!
id assume since doctors have to be clean and sterile all the time, they would get into the habit of washing their hands a lot. id also imagine they'd nag you into getting into that habit. with unscented, antibacterial soap, of course.
along with this, washing your hands a ton drys them out. if you're able, perhaps invest in a moisturizer you think they'd like to use!
depending on what kind of surgeon they are, you can always look into or study the type of surgeries they do, or, look into all the hard work they had to put in to become a surgeon! what they did to get a career in their path (like if they're an orthopedic surgeon, for example).
you could make up a fake work schedule for them. not all doctors are in office or in surgery 24/7. are they an on call surgeon? some surgeons do surgeries on specific days, but see patients in a hospital/office setting on others.
if you're the type of person to make cards or write notes like you're giving it to your f/o, include silly stupid little doctor puns in them.
if your f/o owns their own office, some doctors make playlists of music for people to listen to in the waiting room (a lot of specialists ive noticed do this), so you could make a hypothetical playlist of tunes they'd play.
if you like to imagine you pack a lunch for your f/o to eat while they're at work, draw up a "lunch menu" for them! (this could go hand in hand with the work schedule thing I mentioned earlier)
make a fake Google review page of their practice. you could do that by screenshotting a real page, editing out the name of the original place (doesn't even need to be a doctor's office), edit out the real reviews and names, and put in your own!
write notes or make cards for them thanking them for doing such a noble job to help people! it's hard work being a doctor/surgeon, and getting some appreciation for that is, well, appreciated!
#this whole time i was imagining#“what if i f/oed harvey from stardew valley. what would i do”#only fictional doctor i know anything about#this was interesting and a real thinker send more my way#self shipping#self ship#selfship#selfshipper#self shipper#selfshipping#f/o#f/o community#fictoromantic#romantic f/o#ficto community#fictoromantism#fictional other#fictosexual#f/o imagines#self ship imagine#selfshipping community#selfship community#selfship imagines#platonic f/o#fun f/o lists

we as a society need to talk more about platonic love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND HOW WONDERFUL IT IS!!!!!!
#i don’t see enough appreciation of platonic love#and i hate the idea that its somehow secondary to romatic love#both are wonderful and both are important#and to some one might be more important than the other#but i don’t think we should’ve made it into a whole societal thing that romantic love is like the “ultimate ” type of love#because it truly isn’t#i love people platonically so much#like SO much#and sometimes i have a hard time imagining myself loving anyone romantically as much as i love my friends platonically#i know i’ve done it before and i might do it again#but i will ALWAYS treasure my friendships and see the platonic love i give and receive as incredibly important#because#it id very important to me#in conclusion: i love my friends#platonic love is neat#and we should celebrate it more than we do#platonic love#atlas the thinker#personal

honestly i think a lot of people these days and most popular media i encounter (atleast ones that are focused heavily on romance like heartstopper) tend to not truly show and understand the importance of platonic affection and love and i am just so happy that heartstopper does. because we truly need more platonic love in this world, especially portrayed as as important as it is!! bc honestly idk what i would do without my friends and it doesnt matter if i like someone romantically, my friends will always be suuuper important to me
season 1 tao's "once you get into a relationship, friendships don't matter anymore" vs season 2 charlie writing "charlie ♡ tao" on the heart locket + "wait, isn't that for you and nick?" "no."
sorry yeah I'm just lil emotional over the portrayal of platonic love as something that can be just as worthy as romantic love. i'm okay.
#i love my friends#i love platonic love#thank you heartstopper!#thank you alice oseman#my friends are atleast as important as my romantic partners#they have always been#and they always will be#heartstopper#heartstopper s2#alice oseman#the osemanverse#charlie spring#tao xu#personal#atlas the thinker

I've met so many women who enjoy watching horror movies for fun and I just can't, like... No, I don't like them in general.
And then I'm like... What if my future girlfriend likes horror movies?! What am I going to do!? Like, I've been told that I look like the type that doesn't get bothered by those and I'm like YOU'RE VERY WRONG. Just because I barely react in the moment doesn't mean I'm having a good time.
I'd watch horror movies for my girlfriend, but BOI I hope I don't have to.
Though being hugged by her would be pretty nice.

Astro Observations II: Nakshatra Edition
Ashlesha men often have an intense and seductive aura that pulls people in, but their words can cut as sharply as their gaze. They tend to know exactly how to manipulate a situation to their advantage, making them natural strategists in love and business.
Revati women have an ethereal beauty, often with delicate facial features and a calming energy. They carry a spiritual depth that makes people feel like they’ve known them forever, yet their boundaries are so fluid it can be hard to truly reach them.
Magha men have regal energy even if they’re broke. They naturally command respect and often marry partners who elevate their status, whether emotionally or financially. These are the guys who walk like kings even if they don’t have a crown yet.
Chitra women are show-stoppers. They exude boldness, confidence, and an almost untouchable aura that leaves people in awe. Their beauty is often unconventional, but it’s unforgettable. Relationships with them are intense—they don’t do “casual.”
Bharani men are magnetic but chaotic. They’re often drawn to high-intensity relationships that feel karmic, yet they struggle with balancing freedom and commitment. Many have eyes that feel like they’ve seen everything and more.
Rohini women embody sensuality and grace. Their soft yet striking beauty makes them the center of attention without effort, but their emotional world is deeply guarded. They crave stability in relationships but often attract chaotic partners.
Pushya men are protectors at heart. They quietly handle business and ensure their loved ones are cared for, even if it means sacrificing their own happiness. They might not be flashy, but they’re the ones you want in your corner during tough times.
Swati women are like the wind—free, untamable, and enchanting. Their beauty lies in their ability to adapt to any situation, but their fear of being tied down can make relationships fleeting and bittersweet.
Mrigashira men are thinkers. They’re curious, restless, and often more charming than they realize. They tend to have sharp, fox-like facial features, and their relationships are often a game of cat and mouse—they love the chase.
Hasta women often have beautiful hands and expressive eyes. They’re natural creators, whether it’s in art, writing, or even crafting the perfect relationship. Their love language is in the little things they do for others.
Purva Phalguni men have magnetic smiles and an irresistible charm. They’re the kind who can talk their way into anything, but they’re prone to overindulgence in pleasure and often need to learn balance in relationships.
Uttara Phalguni women exude a quiet confidence that makes people feel safe around them. They often attract partners who need nurturing but can end up feeling drained if the energy isn’t reciprocated.
Jyeshtha men have a dangerous, magnetic energy. They know how to control a room, often with very few words. Their relationships are intense, and they can leave lasting emotional imprints on their partners—good or bad.
Revati men are dreamers with a deeply romantic side. They might not always say it, but they crave a love that feels otherworldly. Many have soft, poetic eyes that seem like they’re always somewhere far away.
Ashlesha women are as dangerous as they are alluring. They can either heal or destroy with their words, and they often attract obsessive partners who can’t handle their depth. Their beauty feels serpentine, both captivating and intimidating.
Chitra men are physically striking, with bold features that demand attention. They often dress well and know how to carry themselves with confidence. They thrive in relationships where they feel admired, but they secretly crave someone who challenges them.
Rohini men can be heartbreakers. Their soft yet masculine energy draws people in, but their need for emotional reassurance can lead to complicated relationships. They love deeply but fear being vulnerable.
Bharani women have a raw, unapologetic energy. They’re the kind of people who shake up your world just by existing. Their relationships are intense and transformative, leaving both them and their partners forever changed.
Pushya women are the embodiment of stability and warmth. They create homes that feel like sanctuaries, but they often put others’ needs before their own, leading to burnout if they’re not careful.
Magha women have regal poise and tend to marry well, often finding partners who elevate their lives. They carry themselves with a confidence that others find inspiring, but they can be a bit intimidating to approach.
Swati men are natural charmers with a wandering heart. They love variety and exploration in both life and relationships, but their fear of being tied down can make them elusive and hard to pin down.
Purva Ashadha women have an unapologetic fierceness that makes them stand out in any crowd. They’re ambitious and driven, often excelling in their careers, but their intensity can make romantic relationships challenging.
Anuradha men are deeply loyal and often attract emotionally intense relationships. They’re the type to stay up all night talking about life, love, and everything in between, but their need for depth can scare off more casual partners.
Shatabhisha women are mysterious and often drawn to unconventional lifestyles. Their beauty is magnetic yet distant, and they tend to attract partners who are fascinated by their enigmatic aura.
Hasta men have a natural talent for creating stability in chaos. They often excel in their careers and relationships, bringing calm and balance to those around them, though they rarely give themselves the credit they deserve.
Uttara Ashadha women exude quiet strength and resilience. They’re natural leaders in their relationships and careers, often building long-term success through steady, disciplined effort.
Dhanishta men have a rhythm to their energy that makes them captivating. Whether in music, leadership, or love, they know how to draw people into their world and keep them there.
Ardra women have a storm-like energy that can’t be ignored. They often experience profound personal transformations and bring that same intensity to their relationships, shaking up the lives of everyone they touch.
Mrigashira women have a natural curiosity and playfulness that makes them irresistible. They’re often admired for their quick wit and charm, but they can struggle with feeling restless in relationships that lack excitement.

Is it okay if I ask what type of s/o would the Gods be into? I find that really interesting and would like to hear your opinion since I really love your writing <3<3
This request came just right, bc I really want to write but I'm mad busy rn, and this was a lot of fun! so I kinda wrote for ... everyone.
If you're conventionally attractive, you are in Zeus' dating pool. You're exceptionally beautiful? I'm so sorry. Once he has set his eyes on you, you are not safe anywhere. There is no other factor that matters, except maybe if you're exceptionally hospitable and kind to guests, which might attract his attention. Which is not a good thing.
Poseidon would love someone unpredictable, someone who never gets boring and never fails to surprise him or catch him off guard. He'd love the excitement of it all and is generally pulled to exciting and outgoing people, but also people who are more introverted but break out of their shell at unexpected times.
If Hades had a type, it would for sure be someone a little more ... alive than him. He's clearly going for that opposites attract thing, just look at Persephone. Also, I reckon he'd like someone who can stand up for themselves, as standing up to his brothers was always very hard for him and he would admire you greatly for it.
Demeter would like someone who is humble, orderly and respectful and appreciative of the beauties of nature. Someone who finds joy in the little things and never fails to call their grandma for her birthday.
To be honest- you don't have a romantic chance with neither Hera nor Athena, Artemis or Hestia. Though I thought it would be fun to make some platonic headcanons for what kind of mortal they would take interest in in a platonic way.
Hera admires loyalty, it doesn't even have to be to a spouse, it can also be your family or friends. Also, she appreciates people who remain strong even in the face of long term hardships or anguish, and it might earn you her favor. It's not that she pities you, but that she admires your strength to keep fighting. Also, she'd love to talk shit about men with you as much as the next goddess...
Artemis isn't about the whole opposites attract thing. As with Orion, she is likely to make friends with someone who shares her interests, as she also surrounds herself with her huntresses. She loves to talk about hunting and the wild and would like someone who isn't afraid to get themselves dirty. If you're a guy, it's pretty hard to get in her good grades though.
Athena is all in for academic weapons. Critical thinkers, challenging the status quo and earning great archivements. Someone she could have an intellectual conversation with, who offers new points of argument and is able to hold their own in an argument, she is the goddess of warfare after all...
I don't think there is anyone Hestia doesn't like, though she would favor people who spend a lot of time with their family and are kind and hospitable to others. Kindness to strangers is something she very much appreciates.
Apollo doesn't really have a type. His mortal lovers are symbolic for his creative inspirations, so he would not settle for a type but be all over the board. The variety of his lovers concludes that Apollo isn't looking for a specific kind of person. He simply watches or spends time with someone and BAM he's completely and utterly in love. He does love himself an artsy spouse though.
Ares needs someone calm and peaceful- it might seem a little contradictory, but Ares needs someone to ground him, to listen to him and provide the calm for his storm. Actually, he's all for domesticity, though a hot love affair doesn't turn him away either. If his spouse had a strong personality and could stand up for themselves, he would really respect that, but he would also be your guard dog if that wasn't the case. Ares just needs someone to love him unconditionally, quite like the next god on the list.
Not to be disrespectful but Hephaestus does not care who you are, he's just happy with someone who treats him with dignity. Be kind to him and he is putty in your hands. After all his family put him through, he'd also appreciate someone to rant about them to, who can also sit in silent understanding with him at other times. But honestly, he isn't setting the bar very high.
Not to call her vain, but you would have to be insanely beautiful to be on Aphrodites radar. She simply considers herself too good to spend her time on anyone who isn't pleasing to her eye- and that really cuts down the pool of potential lovers. Also, she would only stay around for someone who is ready to give their full attention to her at all times, she is a very demanding lover.
I think Hermes would want someone who is able to keep up with him, but also root him when he overdoes it a little. It would take quite a lot for him to actually stick around, because for him to make time in his busy schedule, he'd have to be head over heels in love.
Dionysus would probably not have a specific type either, simply because he wouldn't want to cut short his dating pool. Though he would like someone who is able to let loose at least sometimes and surrender to his pull of madness and ecstasy.
Extra: Eros would mostly go for someone attractive, but he wouldn't let that be the only factor. Just as the unpredictable and surprising nature of his arrows, Eros could fall for anybody, picking out a trait he loves about them and obsessing over it for the day (I'm thinking 'Someone New' by Hozier if you know what I mean).

𝔖𝔶𝔫𝔞𝔰𝔱𝔯𝔶 𝔒𝔟𝔰𝔢𝔯𝔳𝔞𝔱𝔦𝔬𝔫𝔰
Today I want to talk about synastry that creates a warmth and sweetness around a connection, whether it be friendship or more. Most of these are aspects that I consider to be a good builder for a longer term relationship. Like I said these could be platonic, but these are also wonderful in romantic connections.
Venus conjunct Sun ~ trine/sextile to a slightly lesser affect
When two peoples Venus and Sun come together in a chart it shows that they inspire each other. They encourage each others creative sides. I will also say the Venus person can become somewhat of a muse for the Sun person in this connection, it can be the other way around but I have seen that slightly less. Venus is beauty and creativity, and the sun is expression. The sun person wishes to capture and express the Venus persons beauty/essence. This adds a sense of harmony to the relationship. They often have somewhat similar tastes also.
Venus in their 4th House
This is an incredibly comforting placement to have. The fourth house is one of the more private parts of a persons chart. It represents how they retreat back into themselves and their privacy. Having a benefic planet like Venus come into this house creates a beautiful connection. You want your private life to be harmonious. This person will feel at home with you, they are so comfortable around you, your presence feels so peaceful. The Venus person enjoys how the house person feels at ease around them.
Mars conjunct Mercury
These are two people who push each other. There is a lot of energy around this connection, this is a placement where two people will encourage each other to improve and work on their goals/ideas. Think of it as Mercury is the thinker who can give the Mars person a hand with the refinement of ideas, whereas the Mars person helps encourage the Mercury person to executer their ideas and put their plans into action. This s also a placement where two people have a good amount of respect for one another. Debates can be something that comes up, but in a more practical way where they are genuinely interested in one another's point of view.
Moon conjunct Sun - also applies to a lesser extent with a Trine/Sextile
There is this natural exchange between you, an understanding. What one is on the inside the other displays so effortlessly. There is a gentleness and warmth around this connection. This is truly an aspect of being seen. I especially love to see this between a man and woman, where it's the woman's Moon and The Man's Sun.
Thank you for reading,
Pure astro wisdom x

Masterlist this series - TikTok - Masterlist - YouTube (subliminals)
Gemini energy is dynamic, curious, and ever-seeking new perspectives, fueled by the communicative influence of Mercury. Unlike signs that prioritize depth, Gemini in each House invites us to explore breadth, sparking an intellectual curiosity across various life areas. Through its journey in the Houses, we see how this adaptable energy encourages us to learn, connect, and express with versatility. This exploration reveals the ways Gemini drives us to embrace knowledge, foster connections, and communicate our truths, guiding us toward a life filled with discovery, conversation, and mental agility.
𝐀𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠
For Aries rising, Gemini governs the 3rd house, the house of communication, intellect, siblings, learning, and exploration of the immediate world. With Gemini here, Aries rising individuals approach communication with curiosity, flexibility, and an eagerness to engage with the world around them. Gemini’s energy in the 3rd house amplifies a sense of mental agility, making them sharp thinkers and encouraging them to keep up with current trends and information. They may have an easy, conversational style and are likely to enjoy activities that stimulate the mind, from reading and writing to socializing with close friends and siblings. There’s a sense of playfulness in their communication, as they are motivated by Gemini’s love for variety, learning, and sharing ideas.
