Not Your Enemy

He had done it. He’d had his suspicions on that Guard Commander for awhile. Something about his demeanor made it seem like he was hiding something, and it turned out he was. An enemy spy…oh, his commander would be a very happy mammal indeed. So it was he found himself getting ready to sneak out, back to the rebel base, with the roll of film negatives in hand.

At least, he would have, had the roll of film not gone mysteriously missing. And now he probably looked insane, going through the barracks trying to find the damn thing.

Where could it have gone?! I could’ve sworn it was on me this morning…

“Looking for something?”

He turned. Standing in the doorway was none other than the Guard Commander himself, holding a roll of film. He chuckled, stepping forward with a smirk while taking the time to adjust his glasses. “Thought something was off about the camera you gave me,” he said simply, walking forward. “And when I go in to inspect your items, well, I find this.”

He swallowed, stepping back as the Guard Commander continued to step forward towards him.

“Quite incriminating, what you have here,” he said, continuing forward. “Undeniable proof I’m an enemy spy. I mean, if I had this, I would have gone to the General Commander right away. But I haven’t been executed yet, which makes me think you haven’t gone to anyone else about this, and if you haven’t gone to anyone else yet, well…”

He was against the wall. The Guard Commander placed an arm above his head, and leaned in to whisper in his ear.

“Then I’m not the only spy here. Am I, Geumsaegi?”

Geumsaegi swallowed. He looked back up at the Guard Commander, the so-called “grey squirrel” who’d climbed his way to being in charge of the General Commander’s protection. “I don’t know what you mean.”

“Please. You think I wasn’t able to figure it out?” He held up the film again. “You were going to turn this over to whoever you really work for and use it to blackmail me into working with your little group. Weren’t you?” He pulled away. “What are you, really? A rebel? An assistant to some hopeful coup? Who is it that you’re working for?”

Geumsaegi looked away.

“Not talking? Hm.”

Then, to his surprise, the Guard Commander slipped the roll of film into his jacket pocket.

“Well. You go ahead.”

Geumsaegi blinked. “I-I don’t understand.”

“It’s simple. Whoever you’re here for,” the Guard Commander grabbed his chin. “I want you to tell them.”

“…huh?” That was all Geumsaegi could say in his shock.

“Tell them who I am. Show them the proof.”

“B-but you’re a Black Rock spy!”

“And, one way or another, you are a rebel working against Flower Hill.” The Guard Commander lifted Geumsaegi’s chin so their eyes met. “The way I see it, that means we have a common enemy. Regardless of what your intentions are, the outcome we want is the same, is it not?” A smile. “Why use me only once when we can use each other over and over?”

“I…”

“Go ahead. Tell them. Your group gets resources, Black Rock gets an ally, we win and Flower Hill loses. Isn’t that what we both want?”

Geumsaegi swallowed. The Guard Commander chuckled.

“Well, think about it, anyway.” He paused. Then he let go, saying something thoughtfully. “You know? You can also tell them my name.”

“Your…name?”

He nodded. “Mulmangcho.”

“Like…the flower?”

He nodded again. “Yes. Mulmangcho, just like the flower.” A pause. “You know, in Wolf’s Den, they call it the forget-me-not.”

“O…kay…?”

“I always liked that,” he said. “It sounds poetic. A small little flower that means ‘don’t forget me’.”

And just like that, Mulmangcho leaned forward and gave Geumsaegi a kiss. He startled, slightly, but he found himself closing his eyes and kissing back. Wrapping his arms around the Guard Commander, getting as close as he possibly could, wanting nothing more than to continue this embrace. This moment of connection.

All too quickly though, Mulmangcho pulled away, leaving Geumsaegi panting. Wanting more. “Don’t forget what I told you. I’m not your enemy, Geumsaegi. Not if you let me help you. Okay?”

Geumsaegi nodded as the Guard Commander left. Staring after him.

what if the strawhats had different roles on the ship⁉️ i swapped everyone’s roles except for luffy because i can’t imagine him being anything but the captain

these are loose redesigns since their canon designs don’t really read as their roles all that much to begin with. some extra doodles and ideas for this in the cut !!

nami, vice captain: i took a lot of inspiration from her beta design!! canon nami already bosses everyone around so she fits right into the role. she wields an extendable staff (usopp still makes it for her); she lost her arm over the time-skip like how zoro lost his eye. i LOVE drawing cargo pants and boots, so she ended up with a sorta bottom-heavy design. frankly it’s probably not her style but i like how she looks

zoro, the cook: my foolproof logic is zoro uses swords = good with knives. he does not use katanas to cut produce however, just normal knives. i was trying to go for “sweaty ramen guy” with the towel around his neck. the majority of the shit he cooks would probably be drowned in alcohol. he also wears his bandana the majority of the time now!! it completes the ramen guy look

sanji, the sniper: i also took inspiration from his beta design for this!!! he has guns!! and perfect aim of course. i was going for more of a mafioso look so germa 66 would be like, a mafia organization on top of all the other villain shit they already do. he has two guns but i didn’t draw a holster bc that’s annoying🤞 he lights his cigarettes with his guns. how would that even work? don’t ask me

usopp, the navigator: his artistic talent lends itself to creating perfect maps! he also still tinkers, making nami’s staff as well as having a specialty for compasses. he uses a slingshot still (no perfect aim we gotta nerf him) and shoots weather-related projectiles. his goggles serve as binoculars, they can zoom to several different distances. i drew him in his zou outfit purely bc it’s my favorite one

chopper, the helmsman: he would predominately use heavy point while maneuvering the wheel. i changed his hat up to look more like a sailor’s cap, with an anchor symbol instead of an X. to be honest i don’t have much else bc helmsman doesn’t bring much to my mind :(

franky, the musician: ROCK N ROLL BABY YEEAHHH come on his stage presence is unmatched. he’s still a cyborg, he has instruments all over his body like apoo does but they were installed manually. his personality changes depending on what genre he’s playing but rock n roll is his default B) (ex. classical calls for a refined gentleman)

robin, the shipwright: her devil fruit gives her as many helpful hands as she needs! she developed nami’s arm (definitely installed some random shit she did Not ask for). she has a robot mecha that she’s able to pilot all by herself using clones. i changed her orange sunglasses to goggle eyewear

brook, the doctor: the irony of being nursed back to health by a literal skeleton 💀the irony of being the doctor of the rumbar pirates yet being the only survivor, saving no one from the poison 💀 i went for a plague doctor look! IM VERY HAPPY WITH HOW HE TURNED OUT i was really tempted to give him the plague mask too, but i feel that would’ve changed his appearance too much compared to the others

jinbei, the archaeologist: the shape of this man demands a little pair of round glasses on his face. he’s an intellectual i tell you!!! plus still a fishman karate master. the history of joyboy and fishman island being so intertwined is how he developed an interest in history

Mabel takes the role of Stanford in this au! Fun loving and enthusiastic since birth, Mabel was once a budding young photographer who eventually found her way as a newspaper journalist for Levity Rises. She quickly began to notice some of the strange things happening in the town, taking pictures and objects to create her own scrapbooks. She didn't think much of it at the time, but she was certain her brother would've liked the scrapbooks. Maybe if she'd done something earlier, she wouldn't have accidentally ended up in another dimension for 30 years- oh well- at least she knows how to kick ass across 7 different dimensions. Not sure how the identity theft is gonna work yet-

OK REFRESHER ON THE OLD CAST and added Grauntie Mabel too! One of my friends suggested to call Ford 'Sixer' the same way Dipper is named, so that's what's gonna happen going forward just cause it's a cool lil detail (plus in this au Six hides his hands in a similar way to Dipper hiding his birthmark so I think it works). Notes as per usual :]

Also yeah, I put my ussy into that logo, you're gonna see it a bit

DRAMA [Formidable: Failure] - Surely he’s aware that he’s not the *only* person in the world who owns a Kineema?

YOU - “Is it really *yours*? I mean, plenty of people have their own Kineemas, right? Like working men, government offices, uh, firefighters I guess, maybe even animal control people? Exactly! A million different people who could’ve driven it into the uh…”

HALF LIGHT - He’s going to do something drastic because of you. Oh god, terrible! You’re a terrible liar! You can’t look at this, you just can’t!

VOLITION [Formidable: Success] - It's not *you* who drove his kineema into the sea. You have plenty of faults, but this one is decidedly not yours.

KIM KITSURAGI - He kneels down with his head bowed, casting his face in shadow. He plants a hand on the ice to stabilize himself, squinting to get a better view of the motor carriage. “Detective, it says ‘57’ on it.”

YOU - Sweat drips down your brow, and you feel a terrible headache coming. “Maybe our joyrider has an affinity for that number?”

LOGIC - He's not stupid, he knows that it's not that.

KIM KITSURAGI - “57.”

YOU - “What about 57?”, you brace yourself.

KIM KITSURAGI - “Precinct 57.”

YOU - You wince. “Kim, look-”

KIM KITSURAGI - “When I woke up in the Whirling-in-Rags with no memory of what happened during the days before, I've taken note that something of mine has gone missing.” He grits his teeth. "A very. Important. Something."

He runs his hands over his face, messing his already unkempt hair in the process. Regret creeps up on his features. “God. Fuck. They’re going to fire me over this, they’re not going to hear me out.”

EMPATHY - Desperation settles in the lieutenant's tone. Sadly, you find yourself in agreement, even if you don’t want it to be the truth.

YOU - “People are more valuable than machines, Kim.”

KIM KITSURAGI - “Not people like me.” He rasps.

YOU - “…”

KIM KITSURAGI - Before you can say anything more, you fail to notice the lieutenant carefully walking onto the edge of the ice. He looks over the frigid water, a dizzying blue that mirrors and distorts his exhausted face back to him.

YOU - “Kim?”

KIM KITSURAGI - Seconds pass as he looks to be contemplating something. Out of nowhere, he casually takes another step where the ice ends and the sea begins. It happens all too quick for the lieutenant to even voice a call for help— if he even wanted to — his body plunging into the cold water before your eyes.

YOU - “KIM!!!!”
