Markapoo and Stoliz share the same level.
"Even without the sex stuff with Stolitz we still don’t know why we should root for these two or what makes them a good match. No seriously: what do they get from the other they cannot get from anyone else? Why do they like each other? What makes this romance so worth pursuing? Would they even be good together as a couple? The show doesn’t bother to answer any of this which is infuriating."

March 12
On This Day in the history of random cartoons I’ve reviewed,
Rocko gets really, really big in 1995 (happy Macro March I guess) while Jay Sherman meets Roger Ebert in 1995.
Johnny (almost) learns the difficult aspects of being a woman in 2004 while Drakken partners up with DNAmy,
and SpongeBob’s thumbs go down in 2016. SpongeBob wins today, I love this episode to death.

60 years ago today, June 27, 1964, the final episode of The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show (known as Rocky & His Friends during the first two seasons and as The Bullwinkle Show for the last three seasons) aired.
It originally aired from November 19, 1959, to June 27, 1964, on the ABC and NBC television networks. Produced by Jay Ward Productions, the series is structured as a variety show, with the main feature being the serialized adventures of the two title characters, the anthropomorphic moose Bullwinkle and flying squirrel Rocky. The main adversaries in most of their adventures are the Russian-like spies Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale. Supporting segments include Dudley Do-Right (a parody of old-time melodrama), Peabody's Improbable History (a dog and his pet boy Sherman traveling through time), and Fractured Fairy Tales (classic fairy tales retold in comic fashion), among others.
Rocky & Bullwinkle is known for quality writing and wry humor. Mixing puns, cultural and topical satire, and self-referential humor, it appealed to adults as well as children. It was also one of the first cartoons whose animation was outsourced; storyboards were shipped to Gamma Productions, a Mexican studio also employed by Total Television. The art has a choppy, unpolished look and the animation is extremely limited even by television animation standards at the time. Yet the series has long been held in high esteem by those who have seen it; some critics described the series as a well-written radio program with pictures.
The show was shuffled around several times (airing in afternoon, prime time, and Saturday morning time slots), but was influential to other animated series from The Simpsons to Rocko's Modern Life. Segments from the series were later recycled in the Hoppity Hooper show.
There have been numerous feature film adaptations of the series' various segments, such as the 2000 film The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle which blended live-action and computer animation and the 1999 live-action film Dudley Do-Right, which both received poor reviews and were financially unsuccessful. By contrast, an animated feature film adaptation of the "Peabody's Improbable History" segment, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, was released to good reviews in 2014.
Rocky and His Friends and The Bullwinkle Show were ranked the sixth Greatest TV Cartoon of All Time by TV Guide.

Rewatching Invader ZIM and I’m kind of stunned that it got away with so little censorship like right after 9/11 and Columbine. And I’m not referring to how adult it was because there are plenty of kid shows with mature content (Regular Show, Animaniacs, Rockos Modern Life) but how dark and cynical it was plus the concept of having an outcast in a trench coat vs a literal terrorist as a protagonist - very bold in the dubya years. I’m honestly surprised it wasn’t cancelled or drastically changed earlier as it was an overwhelmingly negative satire of American society in an era of extreme patriotism and hostility towards any criticism of American culture or policy (Google “freedom fries”, zoomers).
I’ve been reading a bit about the early development and apparently Nickelodeon was desperate to recreate the magic they had with Ren and Stimpy in the 90s so they let Jhonen make it as edgy as he wanted it not realizing that IZ would be like 10x as expensive as Ren and Stimpy and not profitable at all with its mediocre ratings compared to titans like SpongeBob. So then they were left with an expensive, mediocre performing, unsettling and unpredictable show that starred two morally ambiguous protagonists with an angular and drab color scheme and a creator who is notoriously stubborn and refuses to compromise his vision. This made Invader ZIM nigh unmarketable to kids the way SpongeBob was (this is before its Hot Topic renaissance). People get understandably frustrated about ZIM being cancelled especially with episodes still unfinished but I’m honestly grateful it got made at all.
Now what really grinds my gears is how neutered Enter the Florpus was despite the censors not even being an issue anymore due to streaming. Yes, I understand that Jhonen has gotten older and isn’t the cynical young man he used to be but at least give us some creepy atmosphere and cyberpunk aesthetics. It doesn’t have to be body horror or gross out even - just give us some cool camera angles and some gritty futuristic tech.

I couldn’t place it for a bit, but your art style reminds a bit of the show, The Critic and Rocko’s Modern Life! I love it.
Thank you
My main inspirations are a variety of cartoons I've picked up bits from, mid century modern character art, and Tim Burton. ::)

On this Day in the history of random cartoons I’ve reviewed, and this is a very random selection,
Rocko and the gang go bowling in 1995 while Coming Attractions moves networks in style,
Johnny goes to traffic school and meets a familiar face in 2004,
and Dan plans the annihilation of a dinner theatre in 2011. I’d claim Rocko as the winner today.

Kiff Interviews Showcase More Adorable Nutty Details On The Series
Laughing Place, Animation Scoop & ScreenRant interviewed Disney Legends Nic Smal and Lucy Heavens where they unveiled some details on what to expect on Kiff ahead of the series premiere this Friday.
- KIFF has been getting positive reviews from critics with a highlight mentioning that it has the asthetic of 90s shows like Animaniacs and Rocko's Modern Life
- A highlight mentioned is having adult jokes that goes over kids heads like classic NickToons
- Each KIFF episode has their own fictitious sponsor from a company or store in Table Town, and that company appears (subtly, sometimes in your face) at some point in the episode.
- It appears on the title card of each episode as an AD as a reward to the viewer.
- The Kiff and Buns Family play a big part of the show because they're best friends according to Glenn.--- "It's one of those things that I think you don't always consider when you're dealing with friendships, so I think it's really fun to explore"
- When it comes to describe the series, Smal and Heavens mention that they feel from another planet and the most out place on the Disney TVA lineup (Gravity Falls,Star Vs The Forces Of Evil,DuckTales 2017,Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure,Big Hero 6 The Series,Amphibia,The Owl House,Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur) and KIFF doesn’t take itself as seriously as other fare on the network.
-Smal and Heavens mention that is easily the most lighthearted, care free series on Disney Channel Not everything has to be deep, and Kiff knows it, presenting itself as a light, refreshing animated escape for viewers.
