Rochester Red Wings new bat dog Bruce to continue Milo's legacy
What makes baseball and golden retrievers such a suitable match? For Josh Snyder, the dogs’ playful and at times downright goofy personality blends perfectly with the quirks of America’s pastime. Snyder’s newest addition, a golden named Bruce, isn’t your ordinary partner in a game of fetch. Bruce is the Rochester Red Wings’ newest “bat dog,” […]

✨2024 Steddie Fic Recommendations
template from Steddie Support Podcast on twitter
Summaries and links below the cut
Born Under a Bad Sign by @pinkie-quinns [27k E]
Eddie Munson lived. He lived. So why does he still feel very, very dead?
No Loose Ends by @thisapplepielife [7k E]
"Ocean air is healing, you know," Eddie says as if he's serious, and Steve smiles. "Is the gulf considered an ocean?" Steve asks. And Eddie just shrugs and grins back, shaking another pack of cigarettes out of the fresh carton Steve brought him. Steve feels like a pack mule, hauling food and smokes and beer, back and forth across several states. "Closest thing I've ever seen to one, at least," Eddie says, and Steve has the fleeting thought that someday, Steve will change that. Or: Waiting out the shitstorm back in Indiana.
Big Talk by @occasionaloverboy [29k E]
The first time Eddie flirts with him is a surprise. The second time is a fluke. After that, it gets a little hard to keep track.
Sports Performance by @entanglednow [18k E]
Steve discovers something unexpected while waiting alone in Eddie's room, and struggles to be a supportive friend.
i got your name stuck to my tongue (only call me when you're drunk) by GhostEnthusiast [22k E]
5 times Steve fools around with Eddie Munson at parties, and 1 time he invites him to one himself.
Exactly What It Looks Like by @bilbosmom-belladonna [31k E]
Steve makes a face at Eddie. “You've imagined doing stuff with a guy?” “Yeah, man,” Eddie replies, spreading his hands wide. “Doesn't everyone?” Steve tilts his head to the side as he thinks. Maybe not very often, but his freshman year when Davey Riggs had been swim team captain? Yeah, he had definitely imagined some stuff that had made trips to the locker room kinda awkward. “Yeah, that's true,” Steve answers, nodding. “I wonder why everybody acts like it's so gross, though.” In the summer of 1986, Steve and Eddie have some perfectly normal fun between a couple of perfectly normal dudes.
Path to the Rainbow's End by gayhandshake [17k M]
Eddie always believed he was getting out of Hawkins. He knew he was meant for something else, even when he thought he only had two options: a bus to the state penitentiary like his father and his father’s father before him or a plane to Los Angeles, paid for by a record executive with a fat bank account and a vision. Turns out, there was a third path, and when he left town, it was in the driver’s seat on I-90, trailing behind a brown BMW carrying the Wonder Twins, with most of their shared possessions shoved into the back of his van. The van survived the drive to Rochester, but just barely. He coaxed her along with soothing words and stroking hands until she rolled to a stop two houses down from their new place, like Flipper dying in her trainer’s arms. He didn’t cry then, because they’d done this song and dance before. He did throw a very mature, contained temper tantrum at the mechanic the next day. -- Eddie knows exactly who he is. Definitely. Probably. Maybe.
Somewhere it Hides a Well by @teddywesworl [8k E]
Eddie ducks his head briefly, a gesture that doesn’t quite fit with the guy’s overall image: buzz cut, obvious ink, scars on his jaw. A bunch of his shirt buttons are undone, and Steve can see a white tank and a gold chain underneath. “Yeah,” Eddie says. “I’m at a shop in Uptown.” It’s rote, sounds sort of disinterested. Steve might think he’s being dismissed if Eddie Munson’s eyes weren’t raking over him, lingering at his jawline, his throat, his hands when he adjusts his cuffs. Or: At Lumax’s wedding in 2003, slutty bisexual physical therapist Steve sets his eye on inked up tough guy mechanic Eddie and peels away his mask.
You Could Call Me Nancy by @pinkie-quinns [5k T]
Steve and Nancy get back together. And Eddie, well. He does what any respectable person would do in that situation. He drinks about it.
Restorative Violence by @anniebass [30k E]
Unlike his uncle, Eddie still dreamt of bigger things, the fame of a musician, good cars, big-ass mansions, talked about it in the hospital bed, as with the trailer’s ruin came hope of relocation, the first step toward betterment, maybe a house a touch less vehicular, one maybe not so weiner-shaped. Still, his new room failed to convey a fulfilled dream; the unpacked boxes stood in unstable towers, dust covered the guitar, only the dirty dishes seemed to be a movable component of a life sustained, not lived. It didn’t seem like Eddie was fine at all.
Late Bloomers by @arimakes and @mojowitchcraft [65l E]
Two men walk into a gay bar. One thinks he’s straight, one thinks he’s vanilla. Both of them are idiots.
Steve & Robin by @audacityofbird [120k M]
It's 1995. Two sets of best friends find themselves in Chicago and in each other's orbit as they try to figure out how to best navigate the world, work, relationships, family, and friendships in their mid-twenties. Chrissy is starting a new job in a new city with only an old friend to help tether her. Eddie tries to help his band find their big break. Steve tries to get his matchmaking family off his back and Robin hatches a plan to help him do that in an unconventional and seemingly logical way. They're all finding themselves and their way to each other. So, who cares if they stumble along the way? At least they have each other.
Don't Hate The Player by orphan_account [6k M]
Steve Harrington doesn't really play video games. Not his thing. Somehow, however, he's ended up in an utterly delusional, one-sided relationship with an NPC.
The Fire And The Flood by @entanglednow [6k E]
Steve's already spent half a day dealing with the kids misbehaving, he really doesn't need Eddie making his life harder.
would you be my friend? by @their-we-go [8k M]
"Honourable Justice Harrington, I have perjured myself on this stand today, and I would like to recant.”"Honourable Justice Harrington, I have perjured myself on this stand today, and I would like to recant.” “Dude, what are you—” “I lied, man. I fibbed. I told a story. I—” “Alright, okay. I get it.” “I don’t read, uh. Gay porn for the articles.” “Okay.” “I more read it for the, you know.” He scrubs a hand over his face. Wishes he could hide. “Gay porn.” (Or: scenes from Eddie's life after the world doesn't end.)
let's exchange the experience by @jamiethegardener55 [22k E]
"I propose a game," Eddie announced. Steve zipped his coat back up, wincing. "I'm not playing your dungeon game." "Not," Eddie said, "a tabletop game, thank you, Steven. A challenge. A bet." He felt his eyes gleam. Steve gave him a wary look. "What kind of challenge?" "I," Eddie said, clapping his palms together, "will be Steve Harrington. For a whoooole day. And you will be Eddie Munson." -- Eddie and Steve play a game. They have to do whatever the other says for the day. Neither of them has ever heard of BDSM. Things go really well.
Big wheel keep on turning by prufrocks [28k E]
A few months after Starcourt, Steve moves out of his parents' house and into a friend of a friend's empty RV. What follows is a long six months of unintentional minimalism, scraping by on two bucks an hour, and staring at the specter that haunts the other side of the trailer park. Meanwhile, Robin gets a song stuck in her head. A season four rewrite.
--------------------
Then mine from this year:
Pebble [5.4k words, Rated: T]
“Right, well when the male finds a female penguin he likes, he brings her a pebble. It shows the female that he wants to build a nest with her, that he wants to have her as a mate. So I thought -” Steve raised an eyebrow, “You want me to be your mate?”
flood water (a series) [17k words, Rated: E]
“Nothing says last day on earth like trying to fuck your straight friend before disappearing the next day.” Eddie skips town a month after he gets out of the hospital.
how to wake a dead boy (with art work by @bleedingoptimism) [33.4k words, Rated: M]
Steve’s been able to bring dead people back to life since he was a child. It’s a secret he’s managed to keep from everyone, hiding his power under a layer of detachment from the world around him. Then Eddie dies and Steve has a decision to make. A Stranger Things canon-compliant story based on Pushing Daisies lore.
Queer Lodgings [WIP, Rated: E]
After almost dying in the Upside Down, Eddie wakes to a high school diploma, a place at community college, and - yet another surprise in this new sunshine and rainbows existence that is somehow his life - Steve Harrington as a roommate. It's a double bi awakening!

Timothy Dalton Vs. Colin Firth
Propaganda
Timothy Dalton - (Jane Eyre, Scarlett, Framed) - "...Yes he was Bond, but he is also the man Jane Eyre fans have to complain about because he is ‘too attractive’ to be Mr Rochester (but he plays it the best, of course). He is the only man with enough old-school charm to follow in Clark Gable’s shoes as Rhett Butler, and so devastatingly devious in a homoerotic ITV miniseries called Framed (it’s on YouTube) ... He brings a theatrical gravity; a sense of humour; and those killer, send-me-straight-to-heaven blue eyes to every single role, and if you don’t vote for him, very simply, you are wrong." Full Text propaganda included below the cut.
Colin Firth - (Pride & Prejudice) - He IS Mr Darcy and I love him!!!

Timothy Dalton:
Love of my life, thy name is Timothy Dalton. I have been in a monomaniacal, all-consuming and tragically one-sided relationship with this man for too many years now. It’s frankly embarrassing. Just a look from him makes my knees weak, idk how his female costars coped. Whenever I bring up anything in conversation my friends know there must be a link to him, it’s that bad, in fact I’m the only reason 100% of my peers even know his name.
Yes he was Bond, but he is also the man Jane Eyre fans have to complain about because he is ‘too attractive’ to be Mr Rochester (but he plays it the best, of course). He is the only man with enough old-school charm to follow in Clark Gable’s shoes as Rhett Butler, and so devastatingly devious in a homoerotic ITV miniseries called Framed (it’s on YouTube). I also have to shout out his episode of Charlie’s Angels, in which he sports the shortest and swoon-worthiest shorts known to man while mastering being the boy-toy of Farrah Fawcett (I cried when my parents deleted my recording of it on tv at a particularly low point of my life). He brings a theatrical gravity; a sense of humour; and those killer, send-me-straight-to-heaven blue eyes to every single role, and if you don’t vote for him, very simply, you are wrong.

THIS DAY IN GAY HISTORY
based on: The White Crane Institute's 'Gay Wisdom', Gay Birthdays, Gay For Today, Famous GLBT, glbt-Gay Encylopedia, Today in Gay History, Wikipedia, and more … January 15
1622 – On this date the French playwright Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, better known as Molière was born (d.1673). Considered the greatest writer of French comedy, among Molière's best-known works are Le Misanthrope (The Misanthrope), L'École des femmes (The School for Wives), Tartuffe ou L'Imposteur, (Tartuffe or the Hypocrite), L'Avare (The Miser), Le Malade imaginaire (The Imaginary Invalid), and Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme (The Bourgeois Gentleman), and many other masterpieces of Commedia dell'arte.
Martin Greif writes that when Molière was in his late forties he fell in love with Michel Baron and brought him home to live with him. When the playwright's wife protested Baron moved out till Molière ordered him back. When his wife made an ultimatum that the playwright choose between her or Baron, Molière chose. Three years later in 1673, when Molière died, Michel Baron was at his side.
1929 – On this date in 1929 Martin Luther King, Jr was born in Atlanta, Georgia (d.1968). As an African American civil rights leader he spoke eloquently and stressed nonviolent methods to achieve equality. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. He was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968. In 1983, the third Monday in January was designated a legal holiday in the U.S. to celebrate his birthday. King's message was a catalyst for many in the gay rights movement and continues to be an inspiration for the GLBT community today.
African American civil rights activist Bayard Rustin, who had studied Gandhi's teachings, counseled King to dedicate himself to the principles of non-violence, and served as King's main advisor and mentor throughout his early activism, and was the main organizer of the 1963 March on Washington. Rustin's open homosexuality, support of democratic socialism, and his former ties to the Communist Party USA caused many white and African-American leaders to demand King distance himself from Rustin. When Congressman Adam Clayton Powell threatened to accuse Rustin and King of having a homosexual affair. King gave in to Powell, and Rustin resigned from King's staff. Rustin was devastated by Powell's ruthlessness and by what he saw as King's betrayal, though he continued to advise King, and they rmained friends and allies until King's assassination.
Zak Spears Then
1965 – Zak Spears is an American gay pornographic film actor. Spears appeared in the feature film The Doom Generation (1995) using his real name, Khristofor Rossianov.
Spears was born Khristofor Lawl Rossianov in Chicago, but his German Catholic family also lived in Rochester and Minneapolis, Minnesota. He has two older brothers, one younger brother, and two older sisters. He came out to his family when he was 12, and at school when he was 16. He was constantly ridiculed with gay epithets as a result, and so he withdrew from all social circles.
After school, Spears worked as a diesel mechanic in Chicago and Minneapolis, and caught flak from the blue-collar men he worked with for being gay.
A friend took Spears to a bar called The Saloon in Minneapolis where Chi Chi LaRue was doing a show, and introduced them. Spears and LaRue became fast friends, and LaRue used him for a video called Handjobs 3 (1993). From there, Spears took off in the gay adult industry. In 1996 Spears retired from the gay adult industry after falling in love with Matthew Rush, who would also go on to star in gay adult films. Spears had hoped the relationship would be long-term, but after they broke up, he bulked up with a lot more muscle and returned to the industry in 2004.
Initially retiring from the industry in 1996, he made a return in 2004 in the film Zak Attack, sporting a dramatic image change which included a shaved head and a much bulkier build.
Zak Spears Now
Spears also appeared in the black comedy feature film Forgiving the Franklins (2006) under the name Khris Scaramanga. The film's director, Jay Floyd, said that having Spears in his film helped raise its profile. "I have one star in my movie," Floyd told The Los Angeles Times. "He just happens to be a porn star."
1973 – On this date Lance Loud came out on the PBS "series" An American Family. He bears the distinction of being the first person to come out on US national television.
1973 – The New York Division of Motor Vehicles banned "offensive" license plate combinations, including "DYK" and "FAG."
1974 – After Dark magazine announced it will no longer allow the word "gay" to be included in advertisements. Although popular with gay men for its art photographs of nude males (although no crotch was ever shown) at a time when there was no gay porn the magazine never admitted it was targeting a gay market. It used the subtle phrase, "The Magazine You Can Leave On Your Coffee Table When Your Mother Visits" to get the point across.
1987 – Michael Seater is a Canadian actor, director, screenwriter, and producer. From 2005 to 2009, he starred as the titular role in the Canadian sitcom Life with Derek. He later portrayed James Gillies in Murdoch Mysteries, from 2009 to 2017.
Aside from acting, Seater has ventured into filmmaking with the independent feature films People Hold On (2015) and Sadie's Last Days on Earth (2016).
Seater was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts and worked as a child actor.
Seater began acting in the late 1990s and appeared in the short films, direct-to-video films, made-for-television films, several television series.
Seater voiced the title character in the series Mattimeo: A Tale of Redwall, which aired in 2000, starred as Lucas Randall in the television series Strange Days at Blake Holsey High, which began airing in 2002 and ended in 2006, and had a role in the 2005 film The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio, which starred Julianne Moore. Seater then appeared in the recurring role of Owen on the series ReGenesis, which ended after its fourth season.
Seater garnered wider public recognition for his role as Derek Venturi on the popular Canadian family sitcom, Life with Derek, which was a hit with teens at the time. Seater starred on the series from its premiere in 2005 to its finale in 2009, for a total of 70 episodes and four seasons Before the show's cancellation, Seater had written a script for an episode of the fourth season with his brother, Graham.

He also played the recurring role of murderer and criminal mastermind James Gillies in the Canadian series Murdoch Mysteries.

2008 – Also on this date The Supreme Court of California struck down Proposition 8, which established state law allowing marriage only to occur between a man and a woman, making it possible for California to become the second state in the United States (after Massachusetts) to legalize same-sex marriage. 38. “Sorry… your hair was in your face… thought I should move it so I could see you better.”
“Oh my god, so cute,” Tyson exclaimed, crouching down to the little brown puppy jumping up his leg. The owners apologized and tried to get their puppy to stop jumping, but both you and Tyson were quick to let them know you were totally fine with it.
“I love him,” you said, scratching behind his little ears. You looked over to Tyson, who had the biggest grin on his face, making your stomach flutter.
A few more pets and cute puppy pictures later, you were back on your way, strolling around the city. You had met Tyson a few weeks ago when he moved to Rochester to play hockey here and you had been hanging out ever since. It started out as just friends, but it was clear to the both of you that it was quickly developing into something more.
You just had just met up to have lunch after his practice and decided to afterwards take a walk through the city, that was still unfamiliar to him. But you grew up here and loved showing him around.
“Yes, I swear we used to be able to skate on here. It’s where I learned to. I’m actually pretty good,” you explained as you stood on the bridge overlooking the river. “But it hasn’t been cold enough in years.”
“Well, I’m going to have to take you skating soon to see those skills. How’s your puck handling?” You rolled your eyes, which elicited a goofy grin which you’d grown to love.
“I was talking about skating, not hockey. But I’d love to take you up on that offer.” He nodded, still sporting his smile. A big gust of wind suddenly blew, almost blowing your scarf off and messing up your hair. You quickly fixed it, looking back at him.
His hand reached over, stroking a strand of hair out of your face. The tips of his fingers, brushed across your forehead. “Sorry… your hair was in your face… thought I should move it so I could see you better.”
You blushed, looking away, but his fingers that still lingered close to your face gently forced you to look back at him. The wind blew, messing up his curly hair as well, but he looked so cute you couldn’t tear your gaze away again. Slowly, Tyson bent down to brush his cold lips against yours. Your heart skipped a beat, then another one when your lips touched with more force.
When you pulled away, you both shyly looked away with equally big smiles on your face and you could tell that this was only the start of something great.

The president of Houghton University on Monday called for an end to biological males participating in female sports, saying it defies nature and blurs the fundamental distinction between the sexes.
Dr. Wayne D. Lewis Jr., the sixth president of the private university in upstate New York, detailed his defense of women’s collegiate athletics in a statement noting Houghton is a Christian liberal arts college before qualifying his stance as not a religious one.
Rather, it’s a moral position that it’s simply wrong to allow males to take over girls’ and women’s sports, just as other sports organizations have already made clear.
“Biological males’ participation in women’s athletics is wrong,” wrote Lewis, the first African-American president of the university.
“Most Americans and most of the world know it to be wrong. A fringe agenda under the guise of making school and collegiate athletics more inclusive for transgender people has grown to the place of now unfairly displacing gifted and hardworking female athletes, obliterating the historic achievements and records of female athletes of the past, and threatening to dismantle the opportunities and protections for girls and women in sport trailblazing leaders fought so hard to create and protect.”
“Too many leaders, parents, professional athletes, and people of goodwill have been silent as female athletes are humiliated, silenced, and robbed of hard-earned opportunities. That silence is complicit with the fringe agenda that threatens to dismantle girls’ and women’s athletics.”
To conclude his statement, Lewis looked for broader community support.
“Enough is enough,” he said. “I will not sit by silently as a university president whose female student-athletes step weekly onto tracks, courts, and fields to compete but, in some cases, are forced to do so on playing fields we know to be unfair. I hope you will join me.”
Lewis’s statement comes after the All-Atlantic Regional Championships in track and field, where transgender athlete Sadie Schreiner of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) won the women’s 200-meter dash, Fox News notes.
He adds his voice to an issue already dividing a host of sports around the world.
Last month officials of Nassau County, New York, also bucked the liberal establishment of the state after moving to place a ban on men competing as women in the sports facilities the county controls.
County Executive Bruce Blakeman says the ban is intended to protect the integrity of women’s sports, as Breitbart News reported.
“What we are saying here today with our executive order is that if a league or team identifies themselves or advertises themselves to be a girls or women’s league or team, then biological males should not be competing in those leagues,” Blakeman said.
As happy as I am to see this. It is already too little too late. These pretend women athletes have already set new records that will probably never be broken by a real women. Male Victories have been given where females should have earned them. These races can never be re-run.

Commencement / Copperdale (5)
You did it, Maricela – you got your diploma and made your way onto the honor roll to boot! All while taking care of your little brother D’Angelo, and inheriting a whole family who made sure to stand up for you on your graduation day as proud Tias, and Abuelo (can someone please stop chopping onions in here?? 😭😭😭)
Even though they offered to look after D’Angelo if she wanted to stay in the dorms, she declined. Maricela and D have been enjoying their time in a nice home of their own; plus, D’Angelo will be aging up soon and she wants to be around for him as much as she can.
When you grow up in the shadow of two telenovela stars, you either lean into it, or go the opposite direction. Although Aditya will be taking full advantage of a sports scholarship and play on the soccer team, she also will be majoring in Chemistry, as she has a deep interest in fragrances, and is trying to craft a fragrance line that captures the essence of Cuidad Enamorada one day.
Her mother Vida is struggling with the idea of her being gone full-time for a while, but her father Sai told his daughter not to worry; he promises to keep Mami distracted with flowers, plenty of romantic dinners, and traveling.
Cosmo may not have dated much in high school, OK… at all, but he had plenty of time to perfect his cupcake recipe. Now he can’t wait to get his hands on the culinary department at Britechester. He thought of living in the dorms for like, two seconds, but instead he proposed a different idea to his parents Miracle and Wallace : that they invest some seed money in a business for him instead. Once he graduates, he’ll be doing his own dessert catering business!
His brother Curtis suggested maybe one day he can open a brick and mortar shop in San Myshuno? Honestly, Cosmo likes the idea of keeping things flexible, but he’ll be happy to visit from time to time.
Noa could not be more excited to begin her journey at university – she will get to learn alongside her childhood friend Cosmo in the culinary department at Rochester, as well as explore different aspects of all things food. Auntie Bear told her the world is her oyster; she can do any number of things. She can’t wait to find out.
✏️ As for her family picture? The Broussards have never been good at posing for pictures; every single one of them has been chaos. But when I tell you the pandemonium that ensued when Glammie and Coop showed up? Forget it. after multiple tries, and the sake of my mental health, we just decided to leave it here.
Speaking of which, our Uni Graduates are coming up next, so we’ll be starting with her big sister and what we could salvage.
Congrats to the Copperdale Graduating Class!🎓✨

day 3 : last minute shopping
strangers to lovers(?), park jisung x reader
—————
the bookstore was warmer than outside was, a half-read classic sitting in your hands as you flipped the page and rolled your eyes at mr. rochester's nonsense.
customers talked to themselves and over the phone quietly throughout the small shop, making sure not to disturb anyone else.
a regular, who had mentioned she had gotten her christmas shopping done weeks prior, came up to the counter, you closed jane eyre.
“forgot a present?” you asked, gesturing to the selection of books she had chosen. she shook her head.
“kinda. forgot my present.” you laughed, scanning the books and checking her out. the bell to the door rang as she opened her mouth to say something. your head shot to it.
“hi, welcome, are you looking for something specific or just browsing?” the man in the mask who had walked in froze, his eyes widening. “um, let me know if you need anything!”
“what are your plans for christmas?” she asked in a hushed tone, you smiled, checking a text from a friend and placing the phone back down.
“nothing so far. i cant exactly go home but my familys not here.” she hummed, nodding. “why?” she shook her head, saying she was sorry, and left. after she had, the guy in the mask walked up to the counter, playing with his hoodie. “hi, do you need help with anything?”
“yeah, hi. my friend wants a book, but i really really dont know what to get him.” you let out a laugh, nodding. when you asked about his friends’ interests, he paused, thinking for a moment. “um, cars. he has cats too, he also likes playing like, cod or valorant with me.” you resisted the urge to roll your eyes at the description of a typical male. still, you led him to the first aisle you wanted.
“so this is a book on european sports card, a lot of male customers like this one. and…” he grabbed the book from the shelf as you moved aisles, to the one where another pair of regulars stood giggling amongst themselves, waving at you as they flipped through a book. you waved back. “this is fiction. it takes place from a cats’ perspective and it’s adorable. very studio ghibli esque.” the couple next to you nodded
“and its a series!” the girl interjected. “yn, do you have tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow? i dont see it” you glanced at the shelves, pausing.
“uh, i think i forgot to restock it. i’ll get it from the back for you once im finished here.” she nodded, turning back to her boyfriend. you turned back to the customer, whose eyes crinkled. “are either of these two ok?”
“yeah, theyre both perfect, thank you. i go check out over there, right?” you nodded, walking over with him.
you paused while checking out the books, looking up at him.
“would you like these to be wrapped?” he thought for a second, before nodding. you smiled, pulling out the wrapping paper and beginning to wrap the two books.
as you lined up the books, another regular walked up, ready to be checked out. you gave him a one second, and he nodded.
“yn,” you hummed. “you not going back home for christmas this year?” you shook your head.
“school got in the way. parents have work too.” he nodded.
“im sorry. that sucks.” you laughed, taping up the books and tying the bow on top. you told the man the total, who nodded, handing you the cash. you gave him his change, and he left.
———
it was almost 9:30, and your eyes were practically closing as you restocked the shelves for the next day. there were no customers, although you were still technically still open.
the bell above the door rang, and you almost fell to your knees and screamed.
“hi welcome in! are you looking for something specific or just browsing?” the usual lift in your voice was not there, and the masked man reappeared in front of you. “oh, hi! do you need something else?” you pushed at a book on the shelf.
“i told my friends about how you dont have anywhere to go. they wanted me—i wanted to invite you to join us for christmas.” you paused.
“i’d um—i’d love to. are you sure? you barely know me.” he nodded, taking off his mask, smiling brightly at you in the soft light of your bookstore.
“im park jisung.” he stuck out his hand. you shook it.
“ln yn.” he smiled, handing you his phone, and you put in your number.
when he left, 10 minutes later, you felt a buzz of excitement. you told your parents they didnt need to worry about you having no plans.
