“I love him,” you said, scratching behind his little ears. You looked over to Tyson, who had the biggest grin on his face, making your stomach flutter.

A few more pets and cute puppy pictures later, you were back on your way, strolling around the city. You had met Tyson a few weeks ago when he moved to Rochester to play hockey here and you had been hanging out ever since. It started out as just friends, but it was clear to the both of you that it was quickly developing into something more.

You just had just met up to have lunch after his practice and decided to afterwards take a walk through the city, that was still unfamiliar to him. But you grew up here and loved showing him around.

“I was talking about skating, not hockey. But I’d love to take you up on that offer.” He nodded, still sporting his smile. A big gust of wind suddenly blew, almost blowing your scarf off and messing up your hair. You quickly fixed it, looking back at him.

His hand reached over, stroking a strand of hair out of your face. The tips of his fingers, brushed across your forehead. “Sorry… your hair was in your face… thought I should move it so I could see you better.”

You blushed, looking away, but his fingers that still lingered close to your face gently forced you to look back at him. The wind blew, messing up his curly hair as well, but he looked so cute you couldn’t tear your gaze away again. Slowly, Tyson bent down to brush his cold lips against yours. Your heart skipped a beat, then another one when your lips touched with more force.

When you pulled away, you both shyly looked away with equally big smiles on your face and you could tell that this was only the start of something great.

The president of Houghton University on Monday called for an end to biological males participating in female sports, saying it defies nature and blurs the fundamental distinction between the sexes.

Dr. Wayne D. Lewis Jr., the sixth president of the private university in upstate New York, detailed his defense of women’s collegiate athletics in a statement noting Houghton is a Christian liberal arts college before qualifying his stance as not a religious one.

Rather, it’s a moral position that it’s simply wrong to allow males to take over girls’ and women’s sports, just as other sports organizations have already made clear.

“Biological males’ participation in women’s athletics is wrong,” wrote Lewis, the first African-American president of the university.

“Most Americans and most of the world know it to be wrong. A fringe agenda under the guise of making school and collegiate athletics more inclusive for transgender people has grown to the place of now unfairly displacing gifted and hardworking female athletes, obliterating the historic achievements and records of female athletes of the past, and threatening to dismantle the opportunities and protections for girls and women in sport trailblazing leaders fought so hard to create and protect.”

“Too many leaders, parents, professional athletes, and people of goodwill have been silent as female athletes are humiliated, silenced, and robbed of hard-earned opportunities. That silence is complicit with the fringe agenda that threatens to dismantle girls’ and women’s athletics.”

To conclude his statement, Lewis looked for broader community support.

“Enough is enough,” he said. “I will not sit by silently as a university president whose female student-athletes step weekly onto tracks, courts, and fields to compete but, in some cases, are forced to do so on playing fields we know to be unfair. I hope you will join me.”

Lewis’s statement comes after the All-Atlantic Regional Championships in track and field, where transgender athlete Sadie Schreiner of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) won the women’s 200-meter dash, Fox News notes.

He adds his voice to an issue already dividing a host of sports around the world.

Last month officials of Nassau County, New York, also bucked the liberal establishment of the state after moving to place a ban on men competing as women in the sports facilities the county controls.

County Executive Bruce Blakeman says the ban is intended to protect the integrity of women’s sports, as Breitbart News reported.

“What we are saying here today with our executive order is that if a league or team identifies themselves or advertises themselves to be a girls or women’s league or team, then biological males should not be competing in those leagues,” Blakeman said.

As happy as I am to see this. It is already too little too late. These pretend women athletes have already set new records that will probably never be broken by a real women. Male Victories have been given where females should have earned them. These races can never be re-run.

"Professor Thompson?"

Jamie looked up from the trance he'd been caught in, seeing an expectant, nervous-as-hell third grader standing right in front of him on a stage. The voice he'd heard was coming from the teacher beside him where they all sat at the judge's panel. The aforementioned kid just spelled the word verisimilitude. The very thing Jamie himself had to be at the moment or else he'd get some rather disapproving looks for not paying attention.

"Correct."

And since no one protested, Jamie got it right, too. He was lucky on that one. But Jesus Christ, these last two kids had been neck-and-neck for the last fifteen minutes. It was like the final climax of a movie about spelling bees and neither main character would quit. Except the stakes felt low and so did Jamie's blood pressure.

Eventually, after the word daguerrotype stumped one out of two kids, the latter became the winner. As the whole room—which was mostly empty save for the families of the remaining two participants and all the volunteers stuck in the same purgatory—erupted into awkward cheers, Jamie walked up on stage and delivered the medal to the victorious kid.

"Thanks so much, Mr. Thompson."

"Yeah, kid, you peaked."

"What?"

"You're at your peak." A shit-eating grin from Jamie. "Congrats." Then, he looked down the stage at Tobi from across the room, wiggling his brows in gesture of thank fuck and also let's get the hell out of here.

The pair walked out of the empty English hall on campus and were now at the staff parking lot nearby. As Jamie fumbled with his keys, he looked over at Tobi. Her skin hadn't melted off while waiting for the spelling bee to be over, so that was good. But it sure as hell was hot outside. The sun was an unwelcome friend after the few hours they'd just spent in the darkness of the auditorium in Rochester Hall.

"What was it I promised you for coming and helping out with this grueling shit?" If his hippocampus (another word) served correctly, he hadn't promised her anything in exchange for volunteering. It was supposed to be just a nice little thing for them to be at. But he wanted to treat her in some way for being a good sport and showing up anyway.

wins most of his card games by counting cards/cheating, and as such has a amassed a great deal of enemies who are out for blood. because of this he's constantly traveling, and since he doesn't have the best money management skills, he starts long distance online relationships with people to get them to fly him out, give him a place to stay, pay for his meals, etc. he keeps up these relationships for as long as they're convenient, but he ghosts once they stop sending money or start to get suspicious of his intentions.

vivian dunne (z.endaya fc)- she/her, 27, pansexual, dominant, former olympic track star

based on tashi in c.hallengers (2024). you know the vibes... former athlete, incredibly talented, dedicated, competitive, passionate, etc. until a career-halting injury. now she's turned to coaching/commentating, anything to stay involved in the sport that her whole life once revolved around, though she's still holding onto a lot of bitterness and resentment that she can't help but project onto the people she coaches.

New York's children effects of losing their mother deep dive

Trigger warning, death, and grief 

Let's start with NYC: for the most part, he stay with his dad except for The when he asked to go to tutoring to study stuff very sad about it because like that's his mom but for the most part, he's just worried about his family

Long Island he goes on a mean, streak for a while, and he would stay in his room and so when he was in this room after their mom died, she kind of built up a wall that makes him heart makes it hard for him to be in relationships and fall in love with people for fear of losing them and them dying on him 

Albany will not leave New York side just her brother NYC she wants to be with her dad all the time during this hard time this is also when Albany becomes her mother died. She had to become the lady of the household, which means that when it means she would have to start taking care of everything.

Buffalo is a quiet kid for the most part. He doesn't do that much but when he loses his mother. He's sad so and he doesn't really understand death like he understands that people down all the time but this is like the first time he's ever seen someone die that he cares about because most of the people that he cares about are immortal and the one person who is mortal died on him, so this caused him to not really talk to humans that often and he never gets close with humans despite him being on his high school sports teams he tries not to get too close to the humans



 as you know, I talk about this a lot Rochester went mute because they no one would listen to how they were feeling and The and he honestly didn't have anything to say he was just sad and missed his mom so he stopped talking, but then when Colorado came and started to get Syracuse

Syracuse Syracuse is complicated because she did stop talking and went mute when her mother passed away, but she also was still having nightmares from that night that her father had to rescue her from the kidnapping and literally killed the man in front of her so when this was happening, and she went mute, she still had nightmares, but she would just silently she would cry for a bit New York would hear her and go check on her and then he would just sleep with her in her bed because at the time New York didn't want her to be in his room

Last but not least

New Mexico, when he was a child and before he became a state because New York and Rachel were his adopted parents, he lost his mother or who he sees as his mother he considers both New York and Rachel his mom and dad they don't have to be biological. Those are his parents. They are the ones who raised him. That's his mom and dad, Rachel died. He was very sad and all he wanted to do was be with his father like his older siblings all the time. Around this time, New Mexico started developing an imaginary friend named Bob. Bob was a cowboy.
