As an appropriately-named effect plug-in with a ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’ behavioural disorder, DelSane makes musical sense when viewed from Rob Papen’s perspective, positioned this way: while it is true that the abundance of delay effects already out there sometimes seems like trying to count the number of stars in the Milky Way, which can be overwhelming, DelSane was duly designed as a way of staying sane when navigating increasingly-insane modern music production waters as an easy-to-use, lovely-sounding stereo tape delay plug-in. Perversely, perhaps, it could be considered insane if Rob Papen’s latest product did not offer something special, as is the Dutch virtual synthesizer, instrument, and effect plug-in developer’s modus operandi. On the face of it, then, it is called DelSane since it is possible to imagine dropping ‘Del’ in favour of ‘In’ as insane-sounding delay types can also be created!

Central to the insanely creative DelSane is its eye-catching DISRUPT spherical slider. Since said slider is connected to the various delay parameters, it is possible to change multiple parameters in a dynamic way when moved. It is also Spring featured, so can be made to spring back into the Center position in a tempo-based manner, making for very dynamically-changing disruptive ‘insane’ delay types — and all without recording innumerable parameters, paralleling trying to count those Milky Way stars!

So think of DelSane as a two-sided — split-personality-style — concept with the first (sane) side being a smooth-sounding tape delay that can be easily used as a stereo or mono delay and the second (insane) side acting as a creative conduit to thinking out of the box with delay effects. Either way, DelSane it surely set to become a go-to delay plug-in perfectly suited to any music production, thanks to its easy-to-understand layout presented as an easy-on-the eye GUI (Graphical User Interface) that is resizable from 100% to 200% in four incremental steps.

Further features well worth highlighting here include a cool EQUAL FEEDBACK function — providing the STEREO DELAY with an equally smooth left and right feedback tail; DISTORT — adding a bit of a distorted edge to the delayed sound; and FREQ SHIFT — alienating the delayed sound still further.

花織aika『はーと。』

花織aikaの1st.アルバム『はーと。』が完成しました。

当初のスケジュール通りであれば１ヶ月ほど前にできてるはずだったのですが、インフルエンザになったりケガをしたりでこのタイミングになりました...。

今回はそんなアルバム『はーと。』を１曲ずつ解説していこうと思います。 ※音楽制作関連のニッチでマニアックな内容になります。 ヤバい！と思われた方は、全国の花火大会一覧｜花火大会2018のサイト をご覧いただくのが吉と思われまする...。

花織aika 1st.アルバム『はーと。』（配信限定）

①「ドットコネクト」 あいか、あいながメンバーだった頃のハッピーパプリカ２枚目のマキシシングルのタイトルトラック。

今回はあいか１人でメインパートをすべて歌うため、コーラスなど声まわりのアレンジを一新。 スネアのサンプルは差し替え、ベースもEQとコンプを再設定してよりドライブ感が出るミックスとなりました。

もうコンプとディレイ祭りになってて。 パラレルコンプにディレイのカスケード・・・。 もともとディレイを多用する方ですが、あいかの声はリバーブをセンド一発でバン！とはいかないので、それはもうたくさんの空間系をちまちま重ねてひとつにしています。 ぺったぺたにツブしたサブボーカルもうっすらまぜてるので、ステム作っとかないとタイヘンなのです。

ソロになってからのあいかの声には、録り段階で真空管を多めに混ぜています。 歪みすぎて「ふぎゃー」となることも。

でも！

②「テレスコープ」 MVを作る前提で曲を作っていたので、ミックスそのものは昨年末には終わってて制作のことはあんまり覚えてない...（笑） RobPapenとnordばっか使ってたような。 むしろタイヘンだったのはMV！！

はじめの予定では３分割＋寄りのワイプでポンキッキのキッズラインダンスみたいにしたかったのに、ちゃんと水平が取れておらずクレヨン描きの背景でどうにかしてみた！という結果オーライ。 しかも当のあいかがインフルエンザに罹り外出禁止のため、仕上がり確認が本人不在デシタ。

可愛い波を描いてくださったのは、美しすぎるスタイリストのＩさん。 上品でセンスの良い方は絵まで上手だったという不公平すぎる神の采配に人知れず涙しました（ウソ）。

これを機にぱふ氏（©high and meter. イラストなどでお世話になっている）に教えてもらった頑丈な三脚を導入しました。

③「キミノウタ」 この曲をはじめに録ったとき、あいかは中３（15歳）でした。

正直にいえば「中学生にはムズカシすぎないか？？」とまいこ先生と相談したものの、結局「あいかならいける！！」とやってみて見事歌いこなしてびっくりした覚えがあります。 コーラスはともかく、これだけトラック数の少ないのはボクにとっても冒険だったのです。

裏話といえば正月空けでスタジオが押さえられず、ハピパプの練習で使わせていただいてた倉庫をお借りしてレコーディングしました。 １月の倉庫は寒いのなんの。 歌うあいかも寒かったと思いますが、ProToolsに張り付いてるこっちは動かないもんだから指先が冷えて！

初披露のときは記録的な大雪で、お湯でワイパーの雪を溶かした記憶が。 やはり台風暴風雪女伝説はすでに始まっていたのです...。

今回はそれらを踏まえての再ミックス。 ピアノ足したり、ディレイ成分の音像だけパンしたりとゼンブ組み立て直しました！

④「はーと。」 あいかが初めて作詞・作曲に取り組んだバラード。 １コーラス目と２コーラス目が別のキーで送られてきた（しかも動画で）ところから曲作りがスタートしました。

「アコースティックでやりたい」 というので正気か！？と思いましたが、結果的にあいかの判断は正しかったと思います。 でも、おかげで死ぬ気でピアノの練習をするハメに...。

あ、MIDIはほとんど使わないのです。 IvoryやらVIENNAやらGrandやら良い音源もいっぱいあるんですが、レコーディング → エラスティック（ProTools)かメロダインのクオンタイズでなおすのに慣れちゃって、MIDIのパラメーターとか一切さわらない。 間違えたら弾きなおすだけなので、リコールもしないし！ ・・・てけっして効率がいいとはいえませんネ。

MVは実際の学校をお借りして撮影させていただきました。 校長室隣の来賓室を「好きなように使ってください」と開放していただきましたが、あいかとあいなが言葉通り好きなように食べ散らかすのをみて、いろいろ想像を超えてるなと感じた2018年の年明けでした。 カレシ役で出演してくれたKくんはホントに好青年だった！

⑤「あいと...♡」 ハピパプのアルバム『赤い月と吸血鬼』に初めのバージョンの「あいと...♡」が収録されたとき「点描画のような曲」と評して下さった方がみえました。

ボクもまいこ先生もその表現がすっかり気にいって、この曲の特徴を表すときにいかにも自分が思いついたみたいに言っていますが、完全にパクっておりました。 申し訳ありませんっ。

でも、的確かつ素敵な響きですよね！

サウンド的にはサンプルをコラージュ的に重ねて積み上げたトラックで、5/8と6/8が交互にくる変拍子。 場所によっては「プログレですよね？？」なんて言われます（笑）

自分で作っておきながら楽譜を見ないと追えないのですが、あいかは全体をまるっと覚えて歌っているみたい。

年明けに再レコーディングしましたが、昔より大人っぽくなってると感じたのはこの曲の声かもしれません。

ちなみに富士山アイドル3776（みななろ）さんにも、とっておきの変拍子曲があり���すが、井出ちよのさんは「ちゃんと数えて歌ってマス」とご本人から伺いました。

みんなすごいな...。

⑥「かけがえのない場所」

和楽器のサンプルをこれでもかとぶちこんだテックハウス。 ベースはコンプ掛け録り → コンプ×２ → サイドチェイン用コンプ と通してるのにしっかり聴こえますネ。 へへ・・・音源のおかげです！

サビのたびに転調するトリッキーな構成ですが、関連するキーではなく単純に半音ずつ上がっていくタワー・オブ・パワー方式を採用してしまったので、ライブ時は油断すると見失いがちに。

シンセリードの部分をオルガンで弾いてるのですが、ロータリーの切り替えに夢中になりすぎてやっぱり見失い、手グセでどうにか凌ぐというのが何度かあったので、やっぱりちゃんと練習せねばならないとおもいました。

フットスイッチにすればいいのですが、今使ってるアルティメイトのスタンドではダンパーとエフェクター置いたらいっぱいなので、ロータリーとボリュームは手でエイッ！とやってます。

⑦「キーホルダー」

ハピパプで初めて台湾遠征に行ったころでしょうか。 「速い曲ばっかだからバラードやりたい。秋だし恋愛の歌を!!」 とよくわからない理由で作らされたのがこの曲。 理想の学校生活（の妄想）がモチーフです。

もともとは弦やベースも入ってましたが、花織aikaバージョンは「アコで！」とのこと。 たぶんドS...。

それはさておき この曲のピアノはコードの積み方を工夫しました！ 何がナンでもテンション入れてくるJazz上がりの人もいますが（笑）、そういうのはやめて極力ダイアトニックを中心にキレイに響くよう繋げてみました。

普段はトラック数も膨大で音圧バキバキのを作っているため、コードも必然的にクラスター寄りになりますが、これはオープンなボイシングでシェイカーと声２本に挑んでいます！ そして、今さらですがノードエレクトロの鍵盤はピアノ系ちょっと弾きにくいかも（音は大好き、筐体も赤くてかっこいい）...。 クロノスがいいけど、重くて運べない。 シーケンサーいらないからその分軽くなんないかな。

⑧「鳥になる日」 ギビンマイスイートのデビュー曲のFancy Cute Remix。 これギビンでやるときもアレンジ違ってて、あいか版はさらにちがうので、もうぜんぜん別の曲かも（笑）

全体を通してサイドチェインがバッキバキなんですが、いわゆるEDMみたいなエッジのたった感じにはしてなくて、ふわっとさせています。 リードなんかは２拍ずつフェード書いてて、キック、スネア、HHは全部差し替えたりしたので（replacer使わずに）、かなり手間がかかってしまったの。

パッドまわりはサンプリングと声を混ぜたのをメロダインでピッチ変えたような気がするが、あまりにトラックが多くて覚えてないや。

⑨「君に会えたから」 ハピパプデビュー曲のアコースティックバージョン。 ブリッジ部分はテンポチェンジして自由尺にしてたけど、これだとレコーディングで困るねぇと急遽今の構成に。

ボンゴはニア×２、アンビ×２の計４本で録ってます。 まいこ先生が「アンビのピッチだけあげられる？」とか言い出したので何ゴトかと思えば、スタジオのすみで「どうぶつの森」をやりながら聴いてたので、スイートスポットで聴けや！とアーロンチェアに移動させました。 「イベントがぁ・・・」とか言ってたような気がします。

思いつくまま書き散らかしたので、いつにもまして乱文かと。 というか、思い出したことを順にかいただけ？？ それなりの歴史を経て、本アルバムが完成したという追体験ですね♪
