There were actually a few music players that read MIDI files from floppy disks, like the Roland MT-80S! They're super neat, if a bit odd! Some of them actually included more functional sequencers that could edit or create MIDIs and save them back to floppy disks, too.

I actually got to use a full synth keyboard that supported MIDI on floppy disks back when I still went to school.

Nobody else in the class knew how to use the thing, not even the teacher.

You can imagine their collective reaction when I whipped one out.
