I had a couple problems with that episode like the Doctor never letting River know he loves her. We all thought the Doctor said so in Berlin in her ear (which certainly parallels with Rose/Ten Too, a very nice call back and completing a story arc). And River tells 12 that she's only said the things she did to keep their enemies busy (of course, she passes a truth scan but it certainly could be something she could do).

This writer also got things wrong about River's character (like her not knowing Doctors 1 - 9 as well, something she says and talks about, even the War Doctor).

But it's always great to hear Alex talk about River and the author does have some great details (like River tying with Sarah Jane for knowing the most Doctors. Miss you, Sarah Jane.) It's definitely worth a read and a save.

This makes me really want a 11/12/River episode where 11 is traveling with Amy and Rory, bumps into 12 & River and gets jealous. I already think 12 wouldn’t like 11, and 11 wouldn’t like that 12 doesn’t like him, but adding River to the mix, 11 would just be sulking in the corner like:

Yes, 12 is my favourite doctor. Yes, river song is my favourite doctor’s love interest. Yes, ‘the husbands of river song’ is one of my favourite episodes of doctor who. I still think it would’ve been 10x better if the doctor in that episode was 13.

i say this as a 12/clara enthusiast and a friend to clara stans… but I personally think every episode featuring clara would be better if river was there instead 😬

imagine the ‘be a doctor’ moment in day of the doctor with river in clara’s place, imagine more kingston + capaldi, imagine river and missy’s rapport, luna university instead of coal hill, the singing towers leading into heaven sent, river’s portrait in the confession dial, river on gallifrey.

again, I do like clara!!✌🏻much love clara stans!!!! ❤️ i just personally care about river and what a thorough completion to her arch could have looked like more than I care about clara. i feel river’s arc is a cekhov’s gun set up with no execution. the story sets up her future adventures with the doctor, reveals who she is, then suddenly drops her except for three guest appearances to wrap up loose plot threads.
