Unexpected News
Matt Smith x reader
Tumblr media
Y/N stared down at the small white stick in her hand, her breath caught in her throat. The two faint pink lines were unmistakable, and they felt like they were growing bolder by the second. Her heart pounded in her chest, a rush of emotions flooding her all at once—shock, disbelief, fear, and an overwhelming sense of uncertainty.
Pregnant.
The word echoed in her mind, looping over and over until she felt dizzy. She sat on the edge of the bathtub, her fingers trembling as she set the pregnancy test down on the sink. It felt unreal, like a dream she couldn’t wake up from. But the evidence was right there in front of her. This was real. She was going to have a baby.
Her baby.
Matt’s baby.
The thought hit her with a force that nearly knocked the wind out of her. Matt. They had never seriously talked about kids. Sure, it had come up in passing once or twice, but it was always in the distant future, part of a “someday” that neither of them had defined. They were busy—he was busy. His career was thriving, and she had her own dreams and goals she was pursuing. Children were something that belonged in a later chapter, a chapter she wasn’t sure either of them had been ready to start.
But now…
Y/N’s eyes filled with tears as she thought about telling Matt. What would he say? What would he feel? Would he be shocked? Happy? Scared? Or worse… would he be disappointed? She couldn’t bear the thought of seeing disappointment on his face, or hearing it in his voice. She couldn’t bear the thought that this news might change things between them, that it might pull them apart instead of bringing them closer.
What if he didn’t want this?
Y/N wrapped her arms around herself, her mind racing with a hundred different possibilities. She didn’t know how to feel—how to react. She had never felt so completely unmoored, so unsure of her footing. Her life had just shifted in an instant, and she had no idea what came next.
That night, Y/N lay in bed, her body tense as she listened to the soft, steady rhythm of Matt’s breathing beside her. He was sound asleep, oblivious to the storm of emotions swirling inside her. She had spent hours going back and forth in her mind, trying to figure out how to tell him, when to tell him. Every scenario played out in her head, some ending with relief, others with heartbreak.
But none of them gave her the courage she needed to actually say the words out loud.
Y/N turned onto her side, staring at Matt’s profile in the dim light of the bedroom. His face was relaxed in sleep, his chest rising and falling in a slow, even rhythm. He looked so peaceful, so calm, and she hated the thought of shattering that peace with her news. She loved him more than anything, and the last thing she wanted was to create tension or uncertainty between them.
But she couldn’t keep it from him forever. Eventually, she would have to tell him. He deserved to know.
She just… didn’t know how.
The next few days were a blur of anxiety and indecision. Y/N went about her daily routine, trying to keep up appearances, but the secret weighed heavily on her. She found herself pulling away from Matt, creating distance without meaning to. Every time he looked at her, she felt a wave of guilt crash over her, and she struggled to meet his eyes.
She could tell he noticed something was off. He was perceptive like that—he always knew when something was bothering her, even if she didn’t say it out loud. And lately, he had been asking her more and more if everything was okay.
“Are you alright, love?” he asked one evening as they sat together on the couch, watching TV. His arm was around her shoulders, and she felt his gaze on her as he spoke.
Y/N forced a smile, though it felt strained. “Yeah, I’m fine. Just… tired, I guess.”
Matt frowned, his thumb brushing gently over her shoulder. “You’ve seemed a bit distant lately. Is something going on?”
Her heart raced in her chest, and for a moment, she considered telling him right then and there. But fear held her back—fear of how he might react, fear of what this might mean for them.
“I’m okay,” she said softly, leaning into his side in an attempt to reassure him—and herself. “I promise.”
Matt didn’t look convinced, but he didn’t push her further. Instead, he kissed the top of her head and pulled her closer, his warmth and presence providing a comfort that only made her feel more conflicted. She wanted to tell him, to confide in him, but the fear of what might happen if she did was overwhelming.
A week passed before Y/N finally reached her breaking point.
She had been sitting at the kitchen table, staring at the cup of tea in front of her, when the weight of it all became too much to bear. Tears welled up in her eyes, spilling over before she could stop them. Her chest tightened with the intensity of the emotions she had been trying so hard to keep bottled up, and she pressed her hands to her face, trying to stifle the sobs that threatened to escape.
It was too much. She couldn’t do this alone anymore.
“Y/N?”
Matt’s voice startled her, and she quickly wiped at her eyes, trying to compose herself. But it was too late—he had already seen the tears, the anguish written all over her face. His expression shifted from concern to alarm as he crossed the room to kneel beside her.
“Hey, hey, what’s wrong?” he asked, his voice soft but urgent. His hands gently cupped her face, his thumbs brushing away the tears that continued to fall. “Talk to me, love. What’s going on?”
Y/N shook her head, more tears spilling down her cheeks. “I—I don’t know how to tell you,” she choked out, her voice trembling.
Matt’s brow furrowed, worry etched deeply into his features. “Tell me what? You’re scaring me, Y/N.”
She took a shaky breath, trying to steady herself. Her heart pounded in her chest, her hands trembling as she reached for his. “I… I’m pregnant,” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
For a moment, there was nothing but silence between them. Y/N watched Matt’s face, searching for any sign of what he was feeling. His expression shifted from confusion to shock, his eyes widening slightly as he processed her words.
“You’re… pregnant?” he repeated, his voice almost disbelieving.
Y/N nodded, her throat tight with emotion. “I found out a little over a week ago. I didn’t know how to tell you… I was scared.”
Matt sat back on his heels, his gaze dropping to the floor as he ran a hand through his hair. He was quiet for a long time, and Y/N felt her heart sink with every passing second. She had feared this—feared that he wouldn’t know what to say, that he would be overwhelmed or unsure, that this news might create a rift between them.
“Matt?” she whispered, her voice breaking. “Say something, please.”
Matt looked up at her, and the raw emotion in his eyes made her heart ache. “Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” he asked, his voice thick with hurt. “Why did you keep this from me?”
Y/N’s chest tightened with guilt, and she shook her head, tears streaming down her face. “I was scared,” she admitted, her voice trembling. “We never talked about kids, and I didn’t know how you’d feel. I didn’t want to… I didn’t want to lose you.”
Matt’s eyes softened at her words, and he reached out, taking her hands in his. “You’re not going to lose me, Y/N,” he said quietly, his voice steady but filled with emotion. “You could never lose me.”
Y/N swallowed hard, her heart pounding in her chest. “But… what about the baby? What does this mean for us? I don’t know if you want this… I don’t even know if I’m ready for this.”
Matt exhaled slowly, his thumb gently brushing over her knuckles as he held her hands. “I don’t know if I’m ready either,” he admitted, his voice quiet but sincere. “But we’ll figure it out together.”
Y/N’s eyes widened, hope blossoming in her chest as she looked at him. “You’re not… upset?”
Matt shook his head, his gaze never leaving hers. “I’m surprised, yeah. But upset? No. I could never be upset about this, Y/N. About us.” He squeezed her hands gently, his voice softening. “I love you. And I’m going to love our baby too.”
The weight of his words settled over her like a blanket, warm and comforting. Y/N’s heart swelled with relief, and for the first time in days, she felt like she could finally breathe.
“You… you mean it?” she asked, her voice barely a whisper.
Matt nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “Of course I do,” he said softly. “We’ll get through this, Y/N. Together.”
Y/N let out a shaky breath, her tears now a mixture of relief and joy as she leaned into him, wrapping her arms around his neck. Matt pulled her close, his arms strong and steady as he held her, and in that moment, she knew that everything was going to be okay.
They stayed like that for a long time, wrapped up in each other, the weight of their shared future settling comfortably between them. Y/N’s heart beat steadily against Matt’s chest, and she closed her eyes, letting the warmth of his embrace wash over her.
She was still scared—there was no denying that. But with Matt by her side, she knew she could face whatever came next.
Because they were in this together.
In the days that followed, Y/N and Matt navigated the whirlwind of emotions and practicalities that came with the news of the pregnancy. There were doctor’s appointments to schedule, decisions to be made, and a future to plan. But through it all, they leaned on each other, finding strength in their love and commitment.
Matt surprised Y/N with how quickly he embraced the idea of fatherhood. He asked questions, did research, and made sure she knew he was there for her every step of the way. His support was unwavering, and Y/N found herself falling even more in love with him as they navigated this new chapter of their lives together.
One evening, as they lay in bed, Matt pressed his hand gently against Y/N’s still-flat stomach, his thumb brushing over her skin. “I can’t wait to meet them,” he murmured, his voice filled with wonder.
Y/N smiled, placing her hand over his. “Me neither.”
They shared a soft, lingering kiss, and as they settled into each other’s arms, Y/N felt a sense of peace wash over her. It wasn’t the future they had planned, but it was theirs. And she knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.
Because they were a team.
And now, they were a family.

The Wig Mishap
Matt Smith x reader
Tumblr media
The Targaryen wig was a source of endless frustration for Matt. Every day, the meticulous wig crew spent what felt like ages getting it just right, adjusting the pale platinum strands to make him look like the brooding prince he played. But by midday, the itching would set in. He’d pull at it slightly between takes, muttering about how this wig was “the bane of his existence.”
Y/N found his irritation endearing, watching as he struggled to keep his patience intact, the long white locks a stark contrast to his usual look. It was just a wig, yet she couldn’t help but find it absurdly attractive. The blond gave him an intense, almost ethereal look, adding an edge to his character that made her heart skip a beat.
One day, Matt caught her staring a little too intently. “What?” he asked, narrowing his eyes as he ruffled the wig to relieve the itch.
Y/N bit her lip to keep from laughing. “Nothing… It’s just… you look way too good with that wig. Makes you look so… princely.”
He raised an eyebrow, feigning indifference. “You think so? Because all I feel is itchy and slightly ridiculous.”
“Well, maybe I find itchy and slightly ridiculous attractive,” she teased, leaning in with a smirk.
Matt rolled his eyes, but there was a glint of amusement—and maybe even a hint of pride. “You better like it because I have to wear this thing for hours,” he joked, “and now I have an image to uphold.”
She leaned closer, running her hand through the blond strands. “I can’t say I mind. You look annoyingly hot with it.”
His lips twisted into a smirk, his eyes darkening. “Good to know. Guess I’ll just have to embrace my Targaryen allure then,” he said, the teasing edge in his voice undeniable.
He leaned in close, and with a playful gleam in his eyes, muttered, “I’ll keep the wig on for you later, then.”
