Clarissaā€™s story is so sad and messed up she got like kidnapped from her time period and subjected to centuries of brainwashing and manipulation to the point where she eventually forgot who she was and became a buffet cart against her will- and at the end of all that she gets rescued, but now sheā€™s in a time period far into the future with people she barely knows

I have two scenarios.
What if butterflies arenā€™t immune to the winds:
1. Butterflies get tossed away into the winds after skykids burn the plants.
2. If the skykids are lightweight, both butterflies and skykids get pinned against the wall by the winds

Teach me how to be immune to winds, butterflies.

So i dreamed with Bill Cipher the other day.
i've been really into Gravity Falls this few weeks. i rewathched the show with my sister and read Book of Bill and Journal 3 and decoded a bunch of stuff from those and from the secret website. we're like gathering lore like our life depends on it and theorizing and god i missed that show.
my subconscious that night: you can have some Bill Cipher bullying you, as a treat

my deal is like. Yes i did five years of a phd in eastern european modernist literature. Yes i earnestly believe that erotic fanfiction is one of the coolest experimental textual mediums that exists in 2025. and if you were at all familiar with eastern european modernism you would understand how these were eminently compatible positions lol

This is more a self analysis than a House one, just FYI. But I think it's interesting that I want House and Wilson to die together in the end. With almost every other fandom, I will fight tooth and nail over the idea that my ship somehow survives. Like with Hannibal, for example, yes, it's been confirmed they survived the fall, but even if it wasn't, I would still die on that hill. Because I can not accept that their story just... stops. It would be so incomplete. On one hand, I see how it could be a poetic ending for them, I really do. In fact, contrary to what most people feel like, I'm happy with the show ending where it did and relying on fanfiction to finish their story. But I have never accepted the fact that they died. They just didn't. Another example would be Brokeback Mountain. I can accept they die in canon and how it's important to the story, but I prefer fanfiction that revolves around them both surviving. Because while I can accept that they die, I don't like it. With House... not only can I accept that Wilson and House (in my mind) die, but I prefer that ending. I don't necessarily even like fanfiction that follows the canon story and then has them both miraculously live. I think their ending is so fitting, I think it's perfect for them. I can't imagine House going on after Wilson is dying, and I feel like while the situation where Wilson dies from cancer is ironic and depressing, I think it's perfect. House faking his death to spend their last 5 months together and then dying with each other, I think it's the best way they could go. I love the ending. Everybody has to die sometime, and I feel like that was the perfect situation.

A bit of a rundown for the Still Wakes The Cordyceps AU plot line. Ainā€™t no way Iā€™m making any multi-chapter fic out of this one, and if I do then people are legally obliged to yell at me. Spoilers for both games/show, and @milestonekestrel inspired the AU. Plus, this has Caz Survives elements, sooooo. :P.
ā€¢ outbreak day happens, and the McLeary family, along with family friends Roy and Billy try to escape their town, which is falling into chaos.
ā€¢ they get stopped by a soldier in the outskirts, and are almost all killed by him. Heā€™s killed, but not before he manages to kill Cait and Maidie.
ā€¢ Billy is blamed, due to either getting the guardā€™s attention in the first place, or failing to save the girls some way or another. He and them go their separate ways. (After getting his shit clobbered by Guess Who).
ā€¢ many years later, Caz and Suze have separated. He goes to stay in Beira D, one of the QZs, and she runs off to join the Fireflies, eventually settling down in a little survivor settlement (either Jackson, or something else SWTD related).
ā€¢ Roy and Caz go to "have a chat" with a supplier that screwed them over. Afterwards, they come across Rennick, a Firefly leader. Heā€™s injured, and has a "product" that needs to be smuggled to a group outside of the QZ. Roy and Caz agree on the condition that Rennick gets them back the stuff the supplier sold.
ā€¢ only, said "product" is actually a man. A very, suspiciously familiar man. Yup. Itā€™s Billy Fuckoff Chamberlain. Heā€™s chained to a wall heater, his arm in a sling and heā€™s also giving off some very Not Doing So Good vibes.
ā€¢ Caz is not amused and wants to call it off, but Roy has infinitely more sympathy, and convinces Caz to go through with it. They need their stuff to make it to Suze, after all.
ā€¢ and so, they start their journey to get out of Beira D and into the open, fucked world. Thereā€™s some hiccups along the way, including Caz beating a guy to death and almost getting shot by patrolling Cadal soldiers, but other than all ofā€¦ that, things go smooth enough.
ā€¢ then, they find out why exactly Billy is being smuggled by the Fireflies. Heā€™s infectedā€¦ but immune. A while ago, his arm was torn up by an Infected, and while his friend and totes not crush Kieran turned, he didnā€™t. He was found by Rennickā€™s group, and now heā€™s being sent off to a lab to try and make a cure.
ā€¢ of course, this sets Caz off again, and heā€™s SO ready to just fuck right back off to Beira D, but he did already kill a bunch of people getting out of it, and theyā€™ve gotten this far, so why turn back now when theyā€™re so close? Roy tells him as much, and they continue on, a bit more weary of their old "friend".
ā€¢ they reach an Infected-infested museum, and while theyā€™re sneaking through it, thereā€™s a fight. Roy gets bit, but he doesnā€™t tell anyone. Theyā€™re almost there, and, well, he wasnā€™t going to last much longer in the End Of The World, either way. They could only give away so much for his insulin.
ā€¢ they reach the meeting spotā€¦ only to find that all of the Fireflies have died, via infection and infighting due to the paranoia.
ā€¢ Roy is devastated. Getting Billy to the Fireflies was supposed to save everybody, and now the group that was supposed to take him were all dead. During his subsequent breakdown, Caz discovers that heā€™s bit.
ā€¢ Roy makes Caz promise to get Billy to the Firefly lab, and evek though Caz doesnā€™t believe in the so called "cure", he agrees. Roy stays behind to give them time to escape the Cadal soldiers that had followed them there, and Caz and Billy officially set off on their cross-country journey. What could go wrong?
ā€¢ Caz takes them to a small town a couple miles away from the QZ, where an old smuggler friend of his and Royā€™s lived. Well, "lived" is a strong word. More like "holed-up".
ā€¢ after they dodged all of his traps and the Infected lurking around the outskirts of his base, Innes finds them, and agrees to help them fix up his truck, and take some of his supplies to last them the trip.
ā€¢ itā€™s not that easy, though. Thereā€™s a lot of setbacks and a lot more sneaking, running, and killing, but they eventually find a truck thatā€™s actually salvageable. They also find Innesā€™ old partner, Muir. He had been infected, and took the easy way out.
ā€¢ itā€™s clear that the sight hurt him, but Innes wasnā€™t about to stop now. They get the vehicle running, and manage to escape the hoard. Outside of the town, Innes gives them his half-hearted well-wishes, and then Caz and Billy are off.
ā€¢ they take the truck as far as they can, and make good distance. Until they drive into a bigger city, and encounter a group of scavengers.
ā€¢ the truck is fucked. Theyā€™re stuck sneaking through the city on foot, trying to avoid the scavengers that had overthrown the Cadal base there. The scavengers are relentless, though.
ā€¢ thankfully, theyā€™re saved by two men, Brodie and Raffs. The two are like father and son, separated from their own group and also trying to get out of the city. So, they all agree to work together, and figure out the next step once theyā€™re in relative safety. (Itā€™s the apocalypse. There is no safety.)
ā€¢ escaping the scavengers is taxing, and scary, and very annoying, but they make it out. Thereā€™s one scare, where Caz nearly drowns in the river, but Brodie is able to get him out and keep him alive. Typical Brodie activities.
ā€¢ they find a secret little community, that had lived in the sewers outside of the city. Unfortunately, though, itā€™s clear that no one has been there in a long, long time. Instead, the underground settlement is infested with Infected. Unable to go back, the only way for Caz, Billy, Brodie and Raffs to leave, is to go through.
ā€¢ they find children, or at least the ones that got the easy way out. Theyā€™re stalked by Infected, and eventually, they make it out, and into the suburbs. There, they find more notes from the person who started the community, a woman named Finlay. She and a few others had escaped the sewers, and were out there somewhere.
ā€¢ when they were almost home free, the scavengers find them yet again, as well as a hoard. They fight them off, with Caz providing backup from afar, and they get away!
ā€¢ not before Raffs is bit, though. Billy finds out, and tries to use his blood to cure him. The next morning, however, he turns, and Brodie is forced to kill him to save Billy. Distraught, he follows his son a moment later.
ā€¢ itā€™s a horrible experience, but Caz and Billy move on. Finally, they make it to the forest surrounding the settlement Suze is at.
ā€¢ She is surprised, but overall happy to see that Caz is safe. Despite the bad note they left on, itā€™s clear that they still loved each other, no matter what. Billy, on the other hand, is not as welcome. Cazā€™s plan was to have Suze send Billy off with some former Fireflies, since she was one herself, and knew where the lab was. She refuses, not wanting to risk lives for Billy. Especially after losing some of her friends to a raid.
ā€¢ Billy overhears this, and runs off. Suze and Caz go to find him, but first find a bunch of raiders. After theyā€™re dealt with, they find Billy in an old farmhouse. They have a talk, him and Caz, that ends with Billy telling him that he loves him and Suze, Caz telling him that he would never love him back. Thisā€¦ does not go over well for any of them, but they have the raiders to worry about, at the moment.
ā€¢ in the end, Caz and Billy leave to find the lab, Caz having decided that maybe he went a bit too far, and should make up for it by being nice to his old friend and taking him the rest of the way. Suze stays because sheā€™s an important member of the settlement, but not before she tells them both to get their asses back afterwards.
ā€¢ on horseback, they reach the college where the lab is, and also find more Infected. The worst thing, however, is that the lab is abandoned. They moved shop to a hospital miles away, after some escaped experiments left the place too dangerous to hang around. To make things even worse, the fucking scavs are back.
ā€¢ Caz is injured. Bad. Like, high chance he wonā€™t recover or walk ever again, bad. Capital B Bad. Itā€™s winter by now, and with no sign of Caz getting better, Billy is getting desperate.
ā€¢ so, when a man named Bernard and his goonie friend take the deer that HE took down, and offer anything in exchange for it, he jumps on the opportunity to get Caz the much needed medicine for his - more human - infection.
ā€¢ as soon as theyā€™re alone, Bernard drops a bomb on Billy: the scavs at the college, werenā€™t scavs. They were part of Bernardā€™s community (even Billy can tell that itā€™s actually a cult, from context clues alone), and the survivors had reported that they were all killed by a man matching Billyā€™s description, and a short, cunty bastard with a beanie.
ā€¢ Bernard says he isnā€™t mad, even stops his goonie friend from shooting him. All he wants, is for Billy to tell them where Caz is. See, Bernard believes that Caz made Billy do those things, due to his bum arm and Cazā€™s general bossiness. He even wants Billy to join his cult, because he likes his vibe. Billy properly tells him to go get fucked, and his mother as well, before taking off with the medicine. Caz may be an asshole, but heā€™s Billyā€™s asshole friend.
ā€¢ after giving Caz the medicine, he finds out that he was followed, and goes to lure them away from the basement where they were holed up. Thatā€™s doesnā€™t really go very well.
ā€¢ Billy wakes up to a cannibal live presentation, and after breaking Bernardā€™s finger while the bastard is trying to butter him up with "community" and "love" and "safety", is almost chopped up to be tonightā€™s venison stew. Heā€™s saved by the bite marks on his arm. He bites Bernard, making the man believe heā€™s infectedā€¦ not for long, but long enough for Billy to escape into the town, and the snowstorm.
ā€¢ meanwhile, Caz is busy a mile away with torturing and killing some of Bernardā€™s cultists. He gets a location and books it, killing every fucker that doesnā€™t have Billyā€™s stupid face along the way.
ā€¢ Billy kills a few guys, more out of a craving for vengeance than anything else (Cazā€™s winning personality is totally rubbing off on him) and, inevitably, gets trapped in the burning diner with Bernard.
ā€¢ Bernard tries to kill him, hurting his arm even more and is thankfully not as much of a fucking freak as some of his alternate universe counterparts, but heā€™s still awful and able to get under Billyā€™s skin with horrible words and accusations.
ā€¢ by the time Caz finds the burning building, Bernard no longer has any semblance of a face. He catches Billy stumbling out, and thereā€™s a whole reunion, with Billy an absolute mess of blood and gore and tears, and Caz is no better. Through the storm, you can just faintly hear a cartoony "mwah <3". Heart included.
ā€¢ fast forward many, many days, and they reach the hospital. And are immediately knocked the fuck out by patrolling Fireflies. Caz just cannot stop adding to his concussion collection.
ā€¢ he wakes up, and Rennick is there, healed and well. And then he says some shit like ā€œyou donā€™t have to worry about him anymoreā€ and ā€œyour stuff that we promised you is in your brand new Chevy Tahoeā€.
ā€¢ so, Caz kills a bunch more people, and finds Billy on the operating table, about to have his brain cut out to have a 3% chance of finding some sort of miracle cure. He kills the shit out of the lead surgeon, traumatizes all the nurses, and runs out with Billy.
ā€¢ before leaving, Rennick tries to stop him. He says they can still fix this, as long as he leaves Billy, and just drives away. Then, when Caz shoots him, he says itā€™ll all be okay as long as Caz lets him live. Then, when Caz shoots him again, he saysā€¦ nothing, because heā€™s dead.
ā€¢ when Billy wakes up, Caz lies. He tells him that, there was no cure. The Fireflies all died in a hoard attack, and they just barely made it out alive. No, Rennick did not survive. Yes, there was absolutely no way anyone couldā€™ve been saved. No, heā€™s not lying, what kinda asshole do you take me for?
ā€¢ they make it back to the settlement with Caz sporting a brand new Shit Leg and Billyā€™s arm and mental health about 50% worse than it was at the beginning, and meet the leaders Trots and Simon, who welcome them with open arms. Suze is ecstatic, and Caz admits that he and Billy are in love, and she decides "huh. That sounds nice, scoot over I want a spot in this not-quite-situationship" and they live happily ever after.
ā€¢ for now :>. Until I play the TLOU pt2. Maybe I wonā€™t, all I hear is that it sucks ass and that youā€™re better off with just your imagination. But I will. Someday. Cos I wanna.
ā€¢ ā€¦Iā€™m gonna regret, arenā€™t I?

pspspspsps over the last week i wrote this rough n 'small' bellum x linebeck thing so here
The sun had long set, but Linebeck was still busy. The closest lights were some dim lanterns down in the port town, but his ship was too far down the dock for them to illuminate it. Any lights within his ship were either extinguished or away from windows. Linebeck didnā€™t want to draw attention to himself, and he figured it was dark enough for him to go unnoticed while he finished mopping the deck.
He'd been working since he stopped at the island- heā€™d gotten stuck in a storm, then attacked by some pirates, and still had his usual maintenance to do. Linebeck paused by the prow and surveyed the deck. All of the necessary repairs had been finished before nightfall, and cleaning was what he was left with, and his insomnia prompted him to keep working as the moon rose.
Linebeck placed the mop in its bucket and leaned it against the railing. Clean enough for the night. He could better judge it in the morning.Ā  He rubbed his hands together and exhaled slowly. It was beginning to get a big chilly in this part of the seas, and it was more obvious at night. His hands and feet and back and arms and neck and- goddesses, everything was sore. He groaned and fished around in his coatā€™s pockets for a cigarette.
He turned away from the island to hide the flame of his lighter while he lit his cigarette. Linebeckā€™s steamship was dwarfed by the anchored pirate ships flanking it. It was a quiet night, but he didnā€™t trust that he was entirely safe. He hid as many signs of life as possible, and stared into the water beyond his shipā€™s bow as he recalled what he did and didnā€™t remember to do. Once his deck dried, he needed to check the hull over. Check for barnacles or damage orā€¦ just to soothe his nerves.
He flinched upon hearing a distant creaking of wood but dismissed it. Linebeck took a long drag from his cigarette and watched the faint smoke trail off into the air. Heā€™d caught himself getting awfully nonchalant where he was ordinarily paranoid, but he did have his safety net of sorts. Linebeck grinned to himself, his thoughts drifting as he glanced down at the water. Calling out would be too loud, and it was too dark to see if anything lurked below the water. He moved to crouch at the edge of the deck but straightened up when he heard footsteps behind him.
Linebeck turned and backed up against the prow, faced with half a dozen pirates quietly boarding his ship. They all froze a moment when they saw that heā€™d noticed them, but continued slinking along the deck, armed and easily outnumbering the lone sailor. Linebeck managed a nervous smile and raised his hands, hoping that the smoke and the tiny light from his cigarette wouldnā€™t give away how much he was trembling. ā€œH-hey, now, Iā€™m sure there are better targets on this dock- hell, I can give you some recommendations-ā€
ā€œWe ainā€™t takinā€™ recommendations,ā€ the leader- a large Rito man- gruffly snapped.
Linebeck cringed. ā€œWell, Iā€™m sure Iā€™m not the best mark on this island, Iā€™m good but Iā€™m a bit short on anything worth plundering tonight.ā€ He peered past the main group and spotted one at the door into the cabin. She yanked on the knob and hissed, just barely audible to him, ā€œLocked, boss.ā€
The boss gave a quick nod, not looking away from Linebeck. His gaze was intense and sharp, and Linebeckā€™s smiled faltered; a nearby splash that meant nothing to his assailants and everything to him calmed his nerves.
He tilted his head as the Rito man spoke again, creeping closer with his saber aimed at Linebeckā€™s chest. ā€œSeems someoneā€™s got it out for you, paid us to get rid of you. From what I hear, lots oā€™ people want you dead.ā€
Linebeck resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Another targeted hit? And for what, pissing a few people off, robbing a few others? He supposed it was for the better that most didnā€™t know any more than that.
He backed up until he was practically leaning against the prow. The pirates slunk closer to him across the deck, most of their features hidden by the shadows, and Linebeck felt his fear return. Any time, nowā€¦
Something wrapped tightly around his right ankle, and all of the pirates lunged at him. He nearly stumbled off of his ship and raised his hands to try and block the Rito manā€™s saber, and in the same instant he felt the tentacle around his ankle slither up around his leg, the other four tentacles shot up from the surrounding waters and coiled tightly around each pirateā€™s necks. The three closest to the cabin all stumbled together, all caught by the same tentacle that violently yanked them back and snapped their necks. Each of the other pirates met the same fate, strangled in seconds.
The Rito was momentarily spared as he managed to just barely duck out of the way and slash into Linebeckā€™s outstretched hands. The tentacle doubled back and tried to catch the Rito by the neck, but he was just too deft and got away with his sword yanked into the ocean. Linebeck grabbed at the nearby railing to catch his balance and winced in pain.
The Rito leader tackled Linebeck without hesitation. He slammed Linebeck against the prow, and for a moment the two struggled to find enough room to throw a punch. The Rito moved quicker and slugged Linebeck in the jaw. He stumbled and tasted blood in his mouth, but clung to the pirateā€™s shirt even as he was socked in the nose. Linebeck coughed and stumbled and nearly toppled off the ship again. Finally, a tentacle caught the Rito leader and broke his neck before he even shouted in surprise. Linebeck watched him crumple to the deck.
The quiet finally returned, accompanied by the gentle sounds of the ocean- then a louder splash closer to Linebeck. He stumbled over to the railing and leaned heavily over, squinting down and meeting the eye of Bellum, staring up at him after the mess of a struggle. Blood dripped from Linebeckā€™s nose and onto Bellumā€™s eye. Bellum shut his mouth over his eye and opened it again to return Linebeckā€™s gaze.
Linebeck scowled down at Bellum. ā€œTook you long enough this time. Not so fun to play with them when I end up getting hurt.ā€
The tentacle around his leg withdrew and seemed to give him a pat on the back. Linebeck rolled his eyes and managed to straighten up and turned to the bodies on his deck. Six of them in total, three of them- counting the leader- were Rito, one was a Zora, one a Gerudo, one a Hylian. He rubbed at the forming bruise on the side of his jaw. Bellum rose up out of the water high enough to be seen by Linebeck as he checked each body, leaving the leader for the last.
Each were dead, and once he moved on from one to check another, Bellum dragged the inspected body into the water for his own consumption. From then, Bellum would either eat them and leave no remains, or simply drain whatever life force he could from them and leave them at the bottom of the sea as statues. It was more likely that heā€™d drain them and move on; heā€™d eaten recently, and they werenā€™t likely to stick around at the island for much longer. Not to mention, Linebeck would be too busy recovering to do anything to improve on the meat.
Linebeck, turning to the body of the Rito, kicking at a limp leg once he reached it. He sneered down at it, then winced as pain shot through his entire head. Behind him, he heard Bellum dragging the other bodies into the water. He glanced over at him and, making a realization, whispered, ā€œThanks for locking the door.ā€
Bellum just blinked in response and continued with his business. Linebeck frowned, a little disappointed by the lack of reaction. He started to stand, and Bellum, looking back over at him, rolled his eye and disappeared from sight into the water. Linebeck stuffed his hands in his coat pockets, now feeling properly dejected. Then, a splash occurred behind him and Bellum, having transitioned into a smaller size, gliding through the water and the air to join Linebeck at his shoulder.
Linebeck opened his mouth to say something with honest appreciation to Bellum, but stopped when prodded with a tentacle, another pointing down at the leaderā€™s body. Linebeck rolled his eyes and reached up to touch Bellum, but he dodged his hand and hovered closer to the body, and the sailor finally obliged and crouched at the dead leaderā€™s head.
He spotted nothing at first, but Bellum finally made a frustrated gurgle and grabbed Linebeckā€™s hand with a tentacle and yanked it (gently and carefully) close to the Ritoā€™s face.Ā  Distracted a mite by the way Bellum was very clearly caressing his hand and gingerly tracing the cut in it, Linebeck didnā€™t immediately catch onto their problem. The Rito, blood leaking from his beak and his body completely still, was staring up at Bellum, and his eyes slowly followed his movements.
ā€œShit,ā€ Linebeck muttered. ā€œYou didnā€™t- you just paralyzed him? Come on, how many people have you killed up until now?ā€ Bellum patted his hand and kept staring down at the Rito. When Linebeck didnā€™t move, Bellum slipped one of his other tentacles into the manā€™s coat and grabbed his hidden knife, brandishing it to him with the handle right above the Ritoā€™s neck. With a scowl, Linebeck grabbed the knife, grumbling, ā€œIf I get blood on the deck, youā€™re cleaning it up.ā€
While Linebeck lowered himself onto his knees, removing his coat and rolling up his sleeves, Bellum phased a tentacle through the shipā€™s deck and rummaged around in the storage room below. Cutting the neck was the safest bet- though there was also stabbing him through the eye. Linebeck held the Ritoā€™s head to the deck and compared the width of his knife and the pirateā€™s eyes.
He rolled the Rito onto his back and decided on the left eye. Linebeck pressed his knee down on the Ritoā€™s chest and carefully positioned his knife above the eye, muttering irritably to himself all the while. His knife was one he picked up a while ago, well-made and sharp with a nice, serrated edge, crafted for survival, and Linebeck, with his infinite paranoia, decided it was the best type to hold onto when he spent most of his time alone in the middle of the ocean. He mostly used it for killing stubborn fish or cutting rope. After meeting Bellum, heā€™d discovered its effectiveness in murder.
Bellum flew into sight, having retrieved his notepad and pencil. Linebeck paused to read when had been written in a shaky script: I believe in you! With a roll of his eyes, Linebeck prepared to kill the Rito, with Bellum adding something to his note in his peripheral. The Ritoā€™s terrified eyes shot between the knife, Bellum, and Linebeck. He opened his beak and the two of them acted instantly; Bellum wrapped all of his available tentacles around his beak and clamped it shut, and Linebeck drove his knife straight into the eye until the other went blank.
Linebeck waited a long while before slowly removing his knife and held it over the body for a few moments. Then, he wiped it clean on the finally-dead Ritoā€™s shirt, and carefully sheathed it. He shifted off of the body and started to stand but swayed as pain washed over him. Bellum quickly rushed over and pressed against Linebeckā€™s side to help him stay standing. Linebeck coughed and wiped away more blood on his upper lip.
Standing with Bellumā€™s support, Linebeck squinted around at the island and surrounding ships. No new lights, no new movement. Bellum would have told him if he sensed any witnesses.
He groaned and peered at the cuts in his hands; as he lifted them, Bellum wrapped a tentacle around each arm and inspected both wounds with their eyes. Linebeck turned his gaze to the deck to check for any blood. Heā€™d just gotten done cleaning it and was not in the mood to have to mop up blood.
No blood, but he caught Bellumā€™s addition to his encouraging note: a poorly-drawn heart that had been abandoned just before it was finished. Linebeck managed a quiet laugh and nudged the notepad with his boot. ā€œDonā€™t forget that out here.ā€
His cigarette, however, was nowhere to be seen. Heā€™d forgotten it somewhere in the struggle, and fearing a fire, started to stumble back to the prow. Bellum cut his search short and pointed at the water.
ā€œā€¦I dropped it into the water?ā€
The eye in the tentacle around his left arm blinked once.
ā€œYouā€™re sure-ā€
Another solitary blink. Linebeck sighed. ā€œRight, right. Take, uh, the body somewhere. I need to get some rest.ā€
Bellum left his side and started dragging the last body into the water. Linebeck watched him a moment, then started dragging his feet over to his cabin. What a long, miserable night. His hands burned, and the lingering taste of blood in his mouth was sure to haunt him into the morning. His nose didnā€™t feel broken, thank the gods- Linebeck jumped as Bellum returned to him and settled on his shoulder, much smaller than before.
Bellum, now the size of Linebeckā€™s palm held his notepad and pencil close to his body. The rest of his tentacles carefully coiled around the rest of Linebeckā€™s body, holding onto his limbs and wrapping around his waist and chest, one tentacle ending square over his heart. Comforting and familiar, though only occurring at night or out of sight of other life and civilization. Stopped at his cabin door, Linebeck lifted his arm with a tentacle gently around it, and the end tucked into his palm, covering the wound. The eye in the tentacle blinked up at him, and Linebeck brought it to his lips and kissed it. Bellumā€™s grip on the rest of his body tightened for just a moment.
The deck was clean, and there was no evidence remaining. No witnesses and no remaining bodies. Any suggestion of what had happened would be limited to the disappearance of the dead, but Linebeck and Bellum would leave and avoid the area for long enough for everything to be forgotten. Theyā€™d be safe and free to do as they please, like normal.
Linebeck smiled to himself and turned the doorknob. Then, he sighed heavily and shut his eyes. He turned it again, and then a second time, then whispered, ā€œCould you unlock the door?ā€
There was no movement from either of them for a moment, then Bellum reached through the cabin wall and Linebeck heard the faint ā€˜clickā€™ of the lock and opened the door.

HI this is my thousand word ramble about Rocky and his relationship with other characters and my thoughts in general. I'm normal about Lackadaisy I promise.
Calvin
Calvin and Rocky are cousins that grew up together, with Rocky being 5 years older. The mini comics all make it seem like he spent most of his time there and later he says ā€œit was home more than home was.ā€ (Lackadaisy Breakdown). The cousins wrote to each other while Rocky was traveling around and Calvin kept them all inside a box instead of throwing them away. Aunt Nina tells Rocky "[Calvin]'s the only one in all oā€™ creation who'd follow you" (Lackadaisy Somersault) so they're clearly extremely close. Calvin lies to his mother several times to keep Rocky out of trouble, even when it's about something illegal. Despite his moral compass and the fact that he almost went into law enforcement, he's working with Lackadaisy and regularly shooting at people presumably just because Rocky wants him to (and because Ivy's there... but in the beginning it was for Rocky). They strike me as having more of a sibling relationship than a cousin one due to growing up so close.
Aunt Nina
Nina does not have a very high opinion of Rocky and she makes this very clear. She trusts him not to get Calvin into too much trouble but she doesn't let him stick around when he stops by. Heā€™s under no illusions that heā€™s welcome at her house (Lackadaisy Somersault) and he tells Ivy that ā€œ[his face]ā€™s only abided in small dosesā€ at Ninaā€™s house. He starts telling Ivy there was a small family tragedy and "it had an author... and with already ink-stained hands, i signed my name on it" which means that something bad happened and he either was to blame or took the blame and that is the reason he left Missouri, "so time could dull my fresh reminder face." (Lackadaisy Breakdown). My guess is that this family tragedy had something to do with his mother because his father was alive at least a little bit after he left because he was sending letters and stopped (Lackadaisy Correspondence) his mother is only mentioned once, in Lackadaisy Breakdown, described as ā€œchasing Red Deathā€ Red Death is not a real sickness and its instead from Edgar Allen Poeā€™s The Masque of the Red Death. This could mean that his mother had some sort of bloody sickness. My guess is tuberculosis. It was one of the biggest causes of death in the early 1900ā€™s and one of its most well known symptoms is coughing up blood. Sorry this is supposed to be about Nina and I kind of went off the rails there. Anyway I donā€™t think Nina hates Rocky at all; she still does his laundry and lets him visit and lets him drag Calvin around. But she doesnā€™t trust him and makes sure he knows that.
Mitzi
Some people seem to think Rocky has a crush on Mitzi, and him threatening Wick certainly gives the impression but I heavily disagree and I think he sees her more as a mother figure. He clearly looks up to her and seeks her approval constantly; he goes out while extremely injured and hiding that injury from her (Lackadaisy Deliria) presumably because he realizes that the pig farmers' attack on Lackadaisy was his fault and he really wants to fix it. His behavior towards Wick strikes me more as a child really not wanting a step parent. As the audience, I know that Wick is basically incapable of evil (he has killed once and it was a duck and it still haunts him) and Mitzi is the one taking advantage of their relationship, but from Rocky's perspective Mitzi is just an innocent widow looking for companionship and Wick is a weird rich sleazeball. I honestly don't think Rocky is aware of Mitzi's own sleaziness, and if he is heā€™s ignoring it to the best of his ability. but Mitzi likes having Rocky around. Every time she's upset over something and Rocky starts joking around she immediately starts smiling more (Lackadaisy Proposition, Lackadaisy Haggersnash). Sheā€™s undeniably fond of him, despite his many shenanigans.
Mordecai
Okay this one is a little bit more out there. ā€œBut Rotten!ā€ You may argue, ā€œRocky doesnā€™t actually know Mordecai! They only interact like once outside the mini comics!ā€ Yes dear reader but consider this: they have so many parallels. They are opposites on the surface; Rocky is silly, Mordecai is serious. But looking closer they have a few things in common. Mainly: TRAINS!!!!!!!!! They both have recurring train motifs and it makes me insane. For Mordecai he met Atlas on a train (Lackadaisy Thaumaturgy), and for Rocky he has a drawing of one on one of the letters he sent to Calvin (Lackadaisy Correspondence) and he said his father worked on the railroad (Lackadaisy Breakdown). In relation to the trains, they both left home at a young age and wrote letters home. They also both seem to have a habit of gaining enemies; when Atlas met Mordecai he was running from people (Lackadaisy Bookkeeper) and Rockyā€™sā€¦ everything makes making enemies extremely easy for him. These two have PARALLELS and I need everyone to know!!!!!
Rocky
This last section is about Rocky himself! First off, to state the obvious: Rocky is extremely impulsive, he doesnā€™t seem to think about the consequences of his actions whatsoever and it gets him into all sorts of trouble all the time. Heā€™s not oblivious though; in Lackadaisy Posterity he immediately jumps to the conclusion that he ruined something, he just didnā€™t remember it. Rocky puts on a show of being confident and sure of himself but the moment his walls are torn down in the Posterity and Breakdown pages heā€™s calling himself a horrible person. He is extremely aware of how other people feel about him; even though his exclamation of ā€œthey tolerate meā€ in Lackadaisy Palaver is framed as a joke, it feels pretty real. A lot of people donā€™t like Rocky and he knows this. I donā€™t remember where I was going with this. Just know that Iā€™m obsessed with Rocky and Iā€™m thinking about him always.
In conclusion

Ok listen. After Plawan (Palwan?? But Palwan in my first language gives such a funny image i can't use itttšŸ˜ ) and his Chef Oab get together, Plawan convinces Oab to store lube and condoms in various different places in the restaurant kitchen, to keep them handy in 'times of need'. (And there are many such times indeed)
But then the kitchen hands and other chefs start discovering them at random drawers. Oab is mortified but Plawan didn't care. He mentioned to convince chef that it's better to let ppl know they've been fucking in the kitchen than fucking raw in there, cause they don't be stopping anytime soon anyway, lube or no lube.
They also start stocking extra cleaning supplies, tissues, sanitizers with the lube and condoms.
(Plawan thinks it's adorable when they have sex in the kitchen counters Oab only cuddles him for 5 minutes before getting up and start cleaning the place. It should be unsexy af but Oab leaves little kisses all over his naked body as he cleans, and likes all sated and smile-y and happy. Sometimes they go for a second round and Oab grumbles a like as he cleans once more, but he never stops kissing Plawan. He looks so much like a cute grumpy cat. Plawan Plawan is in love.
So the others just learn to not be shocked when they discover half empty bottles of lube in random drawers. Or empty packs of condom in the trash. Or when the cleaning supplies' closet needs to be refilled every week instead of once a month like in pre-Plawan days.
It all works smoothly (with the exception of a few jokes and wiggly brows directed at the pair), till a food safety inspector from the hygiene and sanitation dept comes for a routine visit in the restaurant's kitchen and discovers condoms and lube stashed in the nook.
It all works out well for everyone involved, except Oab, who has to stutter out an explanation red faced about how he misplaced his things, and no, this isn't the norm, be m certainly not, they take sanitation very seriously here, would the officer like a look at their cleaning supplies? The cleaning supplies' closet, Airways will stocked thanks to chef and his bf's frequent kitchen escapades, impresses the inspector that all Oab gets is a laugh and a verbal warning to be more careful with his belongings next time, rather than actual serious troubles.
Oab makes up his mind to never do anything mildy pg-13 in the kitchen, not even Plawan is lying on the counters in lingerie and begging for Oab's touch. Nope. Never.
He lasts exactly 17 days. And there's not even any lingerie involved when he succumbs. Sadly, he has already gotten rid of the lube and condoms.
But when Plawan takes him in his mouth and sucks him off while he holds onto the counter for dear life, Oab didn't even have enough brain capacity left to be angry.
Later, after he's cummed down Plawan's mouth and has pulled the man up for a messy, messy kiss as he jerks him off, Oab thinks about the logistics of building a secret little drawer, his and Plawan's little secret, in the kitchen.

will I ever get over the fact that half of my life I thought I had a thing for learning languages until I actually entered uni and started learning German and Turkish.
sucked so bad I'm still like A1 in German and this is my 5th year of learning it. I hate both these languages now and I can't even blame the professors god bless their souls šŸ˜
turns out I just liked learning English and then the motivation ended there
maybe I'll eventually grow out of uni war flashbacks and learn some new one idk
