she’s me and i’m her period.

rk is famous for her strong fmcs and for me, lia is the strongest. i love the “obsessed artist” trope and how they show how much they’re suffering through their art, and lia suffered A LOT.

while reading, i couldn’t put the book down bc i was so obsessed with her and being in her mind was such a experience fr she’s definitely my favorite character in rina’s universe!

Absolutely obsessed with this series. It's got dark romance, unhinged characters, and will gripe you until the very end and have you begging for the next book. I have been a long time Rina Kent fan and am so happy these book are getting a deluxe edition and being picked up by a traditionally published company. It's such a fun captivating read and it's perfect for fans of dark consuming romances!

tiktok is ruining every form of media atp. songs last 2 weeks before they get overplayed, movies and tv shows are hyped for 2 weeks and then just drop out of focus, and booktok might be the worse because yeah they're pressuring writers to write faster and faster, a good structured book should take like at least a year to write and after that it would have to spend some time with revising and editing and handled with the publisher.

there's this series of mafia smut books that i read for some reason (dont judge me im gonna blame reading 1d wattpad stories at 11 for it too) and one of the books got pushed back i think? and people were complaining and asking why it's taking the author months to write a book, how is months a long time to write a full book?

Yes! This is crazy. I remember when that one Sam smith song had to be pushed back because of the queen passing and then by the time it came out everyone was already over it!

This Was So Bad

Reading Deviant King pisses me off so much. Yes, I ultimately finished it but goodness gracious, if not for their friends and their children, I would have DNF-ed this book way before hitting the half way mark. First things first, where is the trigger warning? Whatever goes on in Deviant King goes beyond just a bully romance... Personally, I have absolutely no issue reading dark romances and taboo subjects, I am not someone who needs to look up trigger warnings. However, I am quite shocked when I got into this book and realised there was no trigger warning in the beginning. But I am willing to believe the newer editions have a trigger warning page in the beginning? Since what I have is an older edition.

Lets move on, shall we?

I loved Aiden in Cruel King. I was excited to read his stories after I was done with Levi and Astrid. But not a few chapters in, I realised I hated Aiden or at least I hate him until he marries Elsa and they have their happily ever after. He annoys me because dude, "no" is a good enough reason to stop. And because of this, Elsa infuriates me too. I sympathise with her but she makes it hard for me to feel that. This girl has no backbone. I am just praying to every single higher being to grant me patience so I can get through the next two books with more ease.

Going into Deviant King, I really wondered why Aiden and Elsa got three books. Then, I started reading it and realised there's an amnesia plot and with Aiden being so stubbornly mysterious, I knew I would not be getting much anytime soon. However, I really was not expecting the pacing of Aiden and Elsa's story to be slower than a snail. It was a drag having to read Deviant King.

If not for the side characters in this book, I might have developed a vendetta against the Royal Elites series. Seriously, the only good thing that came out of starting this series (for now) was that I read Cruel King first so I know Kent does not always create utterly unlikeable characters who remain frustrating all through the book.
