And thus spoketh: “there is never enough Elriel art.” And thy has indulged. GREETINGS! I bring unto you all a new and gorgeous, wet spot in pants inducing Elriel art! It’s been more than a pleasure to work with the lovely @honeyypears, who brought this gorgeous idea to life! I couldn’t be more in love with this swoon-worthy piece of pookie Elain and Azriel enjoying the sunshine they bring to each other in Elain’s beautiful garden. Ive always felt Elain and Azriel are seeking sunshine in their lives, and they find it in each other, as well as their home in the Night Court! I can’t wait to see what their love story will bring in the future: defying fate, and choosing each other despite the odds presented with quiet, kind determination. The biggest of thanks and love to @honeyypears once again for this masterpiece!

The "you shouldn't review books that you DNF'd" crowd really doesn't understand the point of reviews.

Dude I began to read Babel by R. F. Kuang and...
You're crazy if you believe I won't talk about the essential role of language in humanity's History while I rant about colonialism, orientalism, and the building of Identity when I finally end Babel and recover from it (which, thinking about it, may be never indeed)

⚠️Calling All Queer Readers⚠️
If you’ve ever wanted to join a book club that reads queer books with a focus on intersectionality and diversity, I have wonderful news for you!
Fable is a book club app (which has expanded to include clubs for tv shows now too!) that combines the community aspect of Goodreads with the more user-friendly reading tracker features of Storygraph. It’s super easy to set up a profile and start reading with friends!
The QueerLit Book Club is the club I moderate where we read books by queer authors about queer characters. Right now we are reading We Are Okay by Nina LaCour.
Tumblr media
I also share lots of book recommendations for different months/categories (pride month, immigrant heritage month, spooky season, holidays, women’s history month, etc).
If any of this sounds interesting, please feel free to come check us out here: https://fable.co/club/the-queerlit-book-club-with-bea-202365139676

🍁 It doesn't matter what kind of reader you are; on Bookstagram, we're one big family. Without a doubt, my favorite part of Booksta is the connections I've made; with passionate readers, talented authors who take the time to connect & engage with us, even the editorial teams of huge publishing hours that recognize book lovers as more than just influencers.
❓ What type of reader are you? Make sure to check each slide! I'm a(n): ✨ eReader ✨ All genre reader ✨ Planned reader ✨ Annotator ✨ Bookmarker ✨ Who organizes by genre, color, and author ✨ Who uses every app (for some reason) ✨ Coffee & tea drinker ✨ Who reads one book at a time

It's been 274 days since the Saint Martin's Press boycott started, and they still refuse to take any of the simple actionable steps laid out by Readers For Accountability, to prove that they can protect the influencers they work with.
Learn more about the boycott on the R4A website
Sign the petition that has already accumulated over 8k signatures!
Email St. Martin’s Press as you would your representatives.
Do not review or post about any book from a SMP imprint.

Thank you to the always amazing Nana for bringing to life for Caroline and me one of our most favorite scenes from the gorgeous Foxglove by Adalyn Grace!!
This sequel to Belladonna is such a gorgeous read, further evolving the epic romance between Signa and Death and setting the stage for another couple’s future romance. The world within these books is so enriching and we can’t wait for the final book, Wisteria, this year!

Some random thoughts, since everyone seems to have opinions on smutty books these days:
Smutty books have existed for fucking forever. This isn't a new trend.
People have been saying that smutty books are ruining literature forever.
They are not, in fact, ruining literature.
Writing quality smut is very hard. It takes a lot of time and practice to do it right. Especially considering that "right" is subjective and smut readers like different things in their smut. One size does not fit all.
Books without smut are not inherently better than books with smut.
People who don't read smut aren't better than those who do read smut.
Loving books is what makes someone a book lover, book worm, bookish, etc.
Your dislike for smut doesn't mean that smut is less valuable.
If you don't want to read smut, don't read smut. If you don't want to hear about smut, curate your bookish experience to align more with what you'd like to hear about. I promise it's possible.
If you're judging people for loving books that contain smut because they contain smut, but say nothing about that same book being full of unchecked racism and ableism, you may want to sort out your priorities.
Again, you don't have to like or read smut, but you're no better than people who do.

My thoughts on: The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman
Tumblr media
This book was a re-read for me. I buddy-read it with @michaelmilligan, who had never read it before so that I could try to get back into reading. I managed to finish it, and it gives me confidence that I can go back to reading regularly again! Perhaps not as many books as I used to before, but still, reading! Golden Compass is truly a classic for me, and I love the world created by Philip Pullman. The characters also also extremely complex and interesting, and I found myself crying or being affected by the story... Even while at work, ops. Lyra is clearly a kid, but very smart, and she tries to do the right thing. The other characters are complex, just like she is, and it's definitely a plus for me when I read a book. I hope to re-read the second book in the series soon :)

Queer Holiday Books
Good morning, bookish bats! I just completed a list of queer books for the holidays, but I've only found about 30. You're all such great resources, so:
What queer books would you recommend for cozy holiday vibes?
