Alright, here we go
First and foremost I want to talk about what flying bark's animation has meant to me.
In a world where every day I see 2d animation being rejected for cheaper 3d and puppet animation at every turn, Monkie Kid's animation was the one of the first things that gave me hope for the future of 2D animation. I can't tell you how long I've been wanting a 2D animated show, growing up I wanted one so desperately, I craved good animation amongst the stiff 3D and flat storytelling, so when I got it, when Monkie Kid happened, I was so unbelievably happy. It was everything I wanted in a show, gorgeous animation, excellent voice actors, romance free and friendly to my desperate friendship-craving, romance-overstimulated brain and written in a way I enjoyed so much. I struggle to describe exactly how much I’ve adored everything this show has been up until this point. It truly is a masterpiece.
Monkie kid has kept me company during the lowest and roughest points in my life. I got to such a bad place mentally but Monkie Kid’s fast-paced, snappy, detailed, colourful bright animation brought light into my darkest mental times and not only helped me stay connected with people but kept me creating even when I wanted nothing more than to lay on the floor and never move again. I'm aware most of the flying bark team is active on the bird app and none of them are gonna see this most likely but I still just wanted to say thank you. Thank you so much for animating this show, thank you so much for giving it your all. Thank you so much for giving me something I’ve always wanted so perfectly. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you for keeping me company at my lowest, thank you for sharing your joy of animation so I could catch some of those rays of sunlight and feel a little of that joy too. Thank you for your positivity and good vibes, thank you.
I know so many people have gotten inspiration from flying bark and I have to add myself to the infinite list. My art has improved so much thanks to their inspiration. My style has developed, I’ve had so much fun, I’ve written some of my favorite works ever based off of expressions that the characters make alone. My last amv I made because I was so grateful for the animation that we'd gotten up to that point. I wanted to showcase, to thank, to appreciate. I didn’t know it would be a goodbye. Words can't describe all that flying bark's animation and even their storyboards have done for me. When nothing could make me happy, monkie kid wormed its way into my brain and somehow kept me in one piece. I know that wouldn’t have been possible without the animation that left me at the edge of my seat, breathless and laughing over how incredible it really was every single time. Every new clip, every new episode I’d pause and rewatch again, I’d rewatch over and over, I’d take screenshots of every goofy background character, I’d screenshot every expression I could, I’d go through episodes frame-by-frame, literally one at a time for hours on end just so i could catch every detail, I’d open my eyes wider and wider to try and take in every bit I could in a way I’ve never been able to do before because there is nothing else out there like monkie kid. There was nothing as fun and as joyful as every single frame that flying bark gave us. And I am going to miss that so much.
The fact that season 4 was a sendoff is so heartbreaking to me, it's hard to describe how devastated I feel knowing something that kept hold of my hand when I was facing hard hard things in my life is suddenly gone. I don’t know how to ever express how important this show has been to me, it’s kept me going and helped me get to a place where I could breathe again. It’s connected me with some of the greatest people I know. It’s given me incredible experiences, introduced me to what animation could be and I can’t lie and say it doesn’t hurt having to say goodbye so suddenly.
I know this isn’t the end of Monkie Kid as a show. I know season 5 is still coming. And I also know Monkie Kid has lost a huge part of what made it unique and special, a huge part of its heart and soul. Without flying bark it feels like half the show is missing and although I hope I can still support the show, no one can deny the cavern-sized hole that is left by flying bark’s absence in it. The animation team has such an incredibly positive atmosphere around them that just absolutely radiates from the things they create. I am going to miss that so desperately in monkie kid. I’m going to support every other show flying bark works on, I’m still going to love their animation wherever it goes, but I am going to miss it in monkie kid like nothing else I’ve ever missed.
I do have some other thoughts regarding the new changes in monkie kid but I wanted to keep that separate from the actual farewell, so that’ll be it’s own post and I just want to end this by saying thanks for everything Flying Bark you’ve been a real one. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You’re already being missed so hard it hurts. Keep those good vibes and keep up what you’re doing. You all really are incredible and an inspiration to artists everywhere. We love this show because of the voice actors, because of the writers, because of the music but a great deal of people loved this show because of you. You’ve inspired a community of artists, you’ve inspired me. Thank you flying bark for everything you've given us, you gave it your all and I’m gonna carry the impact you left on me for the rest of my life.
LOVE YOU FLYING BARK. Here's to a bright future. Thanks for everything <3
#knox rambles#long post#monkie kid#flying bark#gods ima miss them#ive never cared about an animation studio so much in my LIFE#good people will do that to ya#face in hands bro#im a fundamentally different person because of these guys#ough#lego monkie kid#its gonna take me a bit to recover from this one bois

wanted to talk about my favourite scene in my favourite episode because i have a lot of feelings about it so here we go.
so it’s this particular scene in ‘of rats and men’ - anything to do with the rat king and i am there. he’s a really cool villain and i think the added bonus of him using solinher to fight the boys is really interesting but there’s this ONE scene that is always in my head when i rewatch it.
so after we see mikey hide away ice cream kitty we get a little comedic scene with him and his brothers + april and casey until splinter comes in, having just had the rat king invade his mind, he’s clearly unwell and weak, he goes to the freezer for some ice and a cheese sickle to which mikey tells him no and straight up slams the door in his fathers face to keep him from seeing the mutated cat in there.
to which splinter doesn’t take kindly towards.
remember, at this point, it’s not obvious to them that splinter is basically being possesed. he towers over mikey (ik he’s crouching here but the shot is really well done, pulling back to really emphasis how much he towers over these kids) and mikey just looks up in fear. again, splinter’s eyes don’t turn red straight away, he doesn’t show any obvious signs of change so to mikey, he’s suddenly aware of the fact that he’s pissed his dad off big time.
then, splinter strikes him, sending him across the kitchen.
we don’t see it, just a flash of red but it then immediately cuts towards the brothers reactions which again, i find interesting
it’s total shock. usually when one of them is hurt or down, we get angry reactions, something protective. but here they’re not mad. they’re just in utter disbelief that their father has just struck one of their own.
and i know splinters done this many times in the past but that all happens during training. it never occurs just because mikey is being odd. casey (and i know he was still grappling with his fear of rats here) actually recoils at this.
then we get a chase scene. again a little comedic just to lighten the tension but splinter is honing in on mikey. he wants to get to him, ignoring the other five teenagers who are in the room with them.
then we get these shots (the main reason i wanted to talk about this scene)
mikey is pushed against the fridge, exactly where he started. and you obviously can’t tell from screenshots alone but mikey is actually trembling with fear here. he’s hyperventilating and it’s not because he’s out of breath. he’s a trained ninja. he can go far longer than the little lap around the kitchen he’s just done. he’s positively terrified, and it’s not like the kind of fear in “invasion of the squirrelanoids” where he was making quips and making jokes to un-scare himself. this is a new fear because this is his father that is attacking him. he doesn’t even say anything during this moment. he just whimpers. he just trembles in fear until leo calls out to the others to “help him!”
then after splinter is pinned down, the rat king breaks through and we get reaction shots from the rest of the characters as they realise what has happened to their sensei.
i think it’s really sweet that april immediately goes to mikey, putting a protective arm over him. his eyes have shrunk to pinpricks (a neat little trick i really love that they show throughout and show when they’re scared or shocked) mikey doesn’t move or try to get back up, staying down with april it’s a nice moment (also we needed more of this duo! orange coded, blue eyed freckled friends for the win!!)
another little detail i found interesting was that after splinter seemingly goes back to normal everyone rushes to his side. april stands from where she’s crouched down with mikey and leo, raph and donnie are there to help him.
but mikey doesn’t get back up. he stays on the floor, perhaps coming out of his shock. he makes no attempt to reach his dad which.. breaks my heart little actually.
and as much as i love this episode, i really do wish it had some mikey + splinter pay off. we hardly see any moments of them together, especially since each brother gets their share of dad moments where he passes down some sort of wisdom, mikey gets a very brief “love yourself you don’t need to change” lesson in “mikey gets shellacne” and that’s it. we really were robbed of more of these two as father and youngest son. and ik all of them get attacked and scared by possessed splinter at some point but it clearly really affected ooor mikey here after being targeted in this one scene.
anywho. that’s my rant over. if anyone has any additions to this post feel free to add them as i’d be interested to see if anyone else is as crazy about this scene as i am lol
#mikey shaking and breathing heavy like was a cool addition#the writers didn’t fuck around huh#ANYWAY I LOVE THIS EPISOde#the rat king is the coolest#tmnt mikey#tmnt 2012#tmnt meta

As I rewatch the bad batch I can’t help but laugh and love all the expressions their faces make. Or even their body language it is so cool to see. There is an omega shot that I will share later that is her doing a pouty little foot stomp that I think is the cutest thing ever.
Honestly there are so many details you would miss unless you had to examine 200 screenshots per episode.

LBFAD Reflections – Index
Like many LBFAD (Love between Fairy and Devil) viewers, I was amazed by the complexity of the plot, just begging for a rewatch! As I began slowly rewatching it, many new things became clear, such as, what were characters actually thinking, now that we knew their backstory? Often their thoughts didn’t match their words. What was happening between scenes, since the fast pace meant that a lot was happening off-screen? Some of the smallest actions and plot developments now had so much deep meaning! And many parallels became clear between events of different episodes and different character arcs.
Rewatching LBFAD, I had so many mental notes in my head on all of these, that I thought I should put them into words. Indulging my love of writing, I wrote my reflections and insights on each episode into a story format and found my favourite set of screenshots from each episode to complement them. I also described my insights on the series overall in separate articles. These may be interesting to others wanting to reminisce on the multidimensional characters and engaging plotlines of this most inspiring series!
This post is a table of contents to each of my LBFAD articles and episode reflections. None of them are spoiler-free. My reflections on ep. 3 onwards are story-like, while eps 1 and 2 are more scene-setting. The links to each post are on their titles.
Location Names in LBFAD – Meaning and Significance
For English viewers, some of the location names in LBFAD are given in Mandarin. However, the meanings of these names have deep significance that are lost in translation! Here are my translations and interpretations of these meanings.
Character Names in LBFAD – Meaning and Significance
What’s in a name? For the characters of LBFAD, a whole lot of hidden meanings! These are not apparent to English viewers. Here are my translations and interpretations of these meanings.
How Immortals age in cdramas - clues from LBFAD
How does ageing work for these lucky immortals in terms of human appearance? LBFAD gives us a few clues about this mysterious process!
LBFAD Artwork Hidden Meanings - Opening Artwork | Closing Artwork Part 1 | Part 2
The created artworks used for LBFAD are unique and have many hidden layers of meaning! Here are my interpretations of these stunning works of art.
Episode 1
Changheng’s destiny leaf has unexpectedly changed – but the destinies of high gods are supposed to be very stable! His destiny changed because of DFQC's actions. In the last episode of the series DFQC changes XLH’s destiny as well. This is great foreshadowing! And it highlights DFQC’s unique tendency to break nature’s laws time and time again!
Episode 2
“Don’t forget, your body is in benzuo’s (this seat of power’s) hands now”.
XLH, mocking his self-address, angrily retorts that “ben gu niang (this girl) is going to make you bald now!” The moment she angrily starts tugging at her hair is when he first notices the effect of the one-heart curse she cast on him, which causes him phantom physical pain even when body-swapped!
Episode 3
How could such a weak and pathetic creature, who can’t even protect herself, have cursed him, the most powerful being in the three realms?! No wonder he would “very very very very much like to kill” her. The fact that he can’t is tremendously frustrating and he is boiling inside.
Episode 4
XLH has now upgraded her nickname for him from the insulting “little celestial criminal” to “Big Qiang” (Da Qiang), the transition from little to big reflecting the growth of her regard for him. She affectionately calls him Da Qiang from now on. His nickname for her, “Xiao Hua Yao”, little flower demon, is his appraising way of calling her a wicked little flower, or a flower with thorns.
Episode 5
DFQC has many enemies who scheme behind his back and want to kill him, is aware of Shiyuntian’s unflattering propaganda around him, and never gave these insults a second thought. But when XLH says that “even the air becomes clearer” without him around, it is like a sharp stab to his gut. When even the thoughts of the mightiest kings don’t bother him, why should the words of an inconsequential little flower?!
Episode 6
Yunzhong carefully eavesdrops on their every exchange. He is not unsympathetic to Changheng’s plight. As a member of the ruling family, Yunzhong himself had to sacrifice the love of his life to fulfil his responsibilities. That is why he allowed CH to keep the handkerchief of his love as a memento, on the strict understanding that his duties must always come first.
Episode 7
As they sit down to tea together in their usual idyllic alcove, XLH reminisces about the joyful memories they have created together over the past ten days or so. Just yesterday, during one of their regular teatime chats, she had happily recounted to him how she had seen snow fall in Haishi for the first time recently. To her delight, he had created snow around Arbiter Hall for her, and a little campfire to warm themselves by as they watched the falling snowdrifts together.
Episode 8
DFQC roughly brushes a tear from XLH’s cheek and we see that the greenhouse flowers are in bloom! They are linked to XLH’s mood, so despite Changheng smashing her dreams, DFQC’s efforts to comfort her have had a far greater impact, and she is now happy.
LBFAD is the most inspiring series I have ever watched and here is why…
…Aesthetically, I found the beautiful 4K production quality as enjoyable as high-budget productions such as Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. …Every single character of note in the series goes through profound character growth, the only exception being the abstract ultimate villain Taisui….
All of my LBFAD articles can also be viewed with the tag #lbfad reflections (hyperlinked).

Soulshipping rambling: Just how does Judai relate to his past life? How does that affect his relationship with Yubel?
Bunch of musing below, now updated with screenshots while I'm reposting stuff that never made it to tags because Tumblr is a functional website. I think this is the last repost but it's gonna be me yelling a lot about these two.
(Also, happy anniversary to these guys! GX episode 155 aired October 3, 2007.)
In their original lives Judai promised Yubel he’d only love them, after Yubel had already voluntarily become a monster dedicated to protecting him. In the present Judai remembers their past lives while Yubel is trying to destroy the universe, tortured into insanity by a combination of his mistake and the Light of Destruction’s corruption.
Before Judai remembers, he only sees Yubel as his mess that he has to clean up - if any emotional attachment remains, it's buried within his memory twice over. But once he remembers, he instantly flips from "you’re evil and deluded and I will stop you at any cost" to "I accept your love (metaphorically), you need healing and I will risk my entire existence to help you."
(Episode 153, after Yubel explains Spell Chronicle)
(Episode 155, Judai chooses to do that. I haven't stopped thinking about this moment since my rewatch)
What exactly is he thinking at that moment when he flips? The decision to fuse with Yubel is about taking responsibility (growing up and redeeming himself for his mistakes) as well as - or even more than - a matter of love (acting on his feelings about Yubel). But also, there’s so many angles to what he’s feeling about those two things, and how much of each factors into exactly why he chooses to fuse their souls.
The flashback to their past lives is brief, less than three minutes of mostly exposition, and you don’t really get a full sense of just how much Judai connects with his past life beyond the line "I remember… They’re me and Yubel in our past lives" (paraphrased) before he watches his past self make that defining promise.
How much does he remember? Does he feel like a continuation of his past life in that moment, or like the next version of the young prince? I feel the answer to that question changes the meaning of his decision to fuse their souls together, in essence ensuring they can’t be separated again as a gesture of love and/or responsibility.
If he feels a sense of continuity with his past self, then that decision is a continuation of that promise to love Yubel, and an as-it-should-be reunion between guardian and guarded.
If he views his past self as someone connected to but separate from himself, then continuing that promise is more of a decision he takes upon himself to stay connected to someone he still feels tied to.
...Or maybe not. Maybe it’s simply a sense of duty to someone he’s hurt, someone he promised to love in another life and feels obligated to love in the present.
(Judai's smile when remembering his friends transitions into a determined expression just before he declares a fusion of his and Yubel's souls. Also, get rekt Amon.)
How much responsibility does he feel to uphold the vows of his past self? How much responsibility does he feel to heal someone who’s been hurt badly because of his mistakes (which, to be fair, were made because Yubel was attacking his neighbors to begin with)? Complicating this question is the massive sacrifice Yubel made to become what they are, a transformation that persists through lifetimes all for Judai's protection.
Yubel is tied to the past in a way that Judai doesn't have to be. Does this change the nature of what Judai feels toward Yubel? Is loving Yubel Judai's obligation, his nature, or his choice? Can it be multiple of these things, or all three?
You could argue it's none of those things, really; you could say Judai owes Yubel nothing and doesn't care about Yubel at all, but simply fused with them to save his friends and the world. I think that interpretation ignores how Judai's attitude towards Yubel visibly changes once he remembers the true depth of their connection, though, and what that says about how he views them.
But without direct word about what Judai was thinking during this moment, in the end the exact feelings Judai has about Yubel and the fusion are a matter of interpretation and/or headcanon. Regardless, it leaves room for a lot of fascinating questions about how their past bears upon the present...which are never revisited for some reason.
Well, that's what fandom is for I guess. The only value I have to contribute to the GX fandom is yelling about Soulshipping so here I am.

TBB S3E7 Reactions
Alright, in lieu of an analysis this week, you guys get some extra long reactions from me. Spoilers for Extraction under the cut!
- Of course the operative is still alive after being completely buried by rocks
- You okay there Rexy boy?
- Aww, Crosshair helping him up
- “There’s always another way” feels like foreshadowing
- CX does sound awfully like Tech when he’s grunting. Either that or DBB has only one way of making groaning noises 😂
- The rim lighting in this episode is such a pain for making screenshots but so satisfying for watching
- The modified clone theme when Wolffe lands 😭
- Wolffe was really getting 3PO flashbacks there with that disgusted sigh
- Isn’t Hilo a canon commando?? Or is he from legends?
- I will never get over how realistic light looks in this show
- There’s no way that CX just caught himself with his hands
- “We’re waiting on you” they’re not leaving Crosshair behind this time 🥹
- Lol Batcher. Licking cute clones faces. Always the priority
- How is this CX such a good shot??
- Oh Wolffe definitely has a constant headache. Idk how he’s actually put up with being in the Empire this long.
- This purple atmosphere is so pretty
- “I’m much worse” — SCREAMING. And the little tilt with his helmet to make his point clear? This man can have me however he wants. Anytime, anywhere. Call me, baby (I hope someone laughed at that lol)
- So Hunter does hear the ships. I wonder if his senses are more tuned for mechanical vibrations and animal life than people
- Lol Howzer is this really the time for a heart to heart?
- “Loyalty meant something to me” 🫡
- Lol that TK Trooper sounded like a mid-Atlantic 50s movie star
- How is the operative this nimble? Seems suspicious
- Smoke bombs are CF99s signature
- Interesting that for once the stun bolts are being used ON the Batch instead of by them.
- Wrecker and Batcher are a great team
- Hunter just dropping that TK and then Crosshair taking out their ship. Phew
- Also not suspicious at all that they’ve neutralized all the TKs and left the clone troopers for later.
- How did Crosshair sense the operative coming up behind them?
- RIP Nemec 😓
- “Too bad” 😩😩😩
- Oh Cross, you know you’re not the best at hand to hand combat. This is a very bad idea
- That waterfall is pretty though
- Dear lord why did they have to make these scenes so dark
- Oh fuck. I can’t even tell who threw who off the cliff
- The whole squad going after Crosshair even though he told them to get to the extraction point 😭
- CX obviously knows Crosshair and has beef with him. Again, for the millionth time—WHAT THE HELL DID HEMLOCK DO TO ALL OF THEM
- “You had your chance to be one of us. You chose the wrong side”. Really can’t wait for this to be explained.
- Crosshair’s reflexes are so fast for being all gangly limbs
- Okay I seriously almost had a heart attack here (this is a rewatch so my reactions aren’t immediate but holy cow I almost couldn’t believe what I was seeing watching Crosshair almost drown. Don’t you dare do it Jen!)
- It is v suspicious how fixated on Crosshair CX is even after he’s neutralized him
- Thank GOD for Howzer
- Okay, I can breathe a little again
- That’s…an awfully long fall for someone to survive
- The TBB team took the water scenes from The Crossing in season 2 and said, yeah, how about we just make that a million times better 🤯
- “That’s not Echo”. No, no it is not
- Good to know that Rex is still considered dead by the Empire (although that honestly seems strange that CX in season 2 knew who he was). That’s heartbreaking that Wolffe thought he was dead this whole time though
- Wow. The respect these two men have for each other
- “Oh I did. Lost a lot of good men that day” *cries in TCW season 7*
- Idk how Rex keeps going honestly
- His voice may be gentle but his face means BUSINESS
- Rex 🤝 Omega - believing the power of friendship can save anyone and anything they come across
- Fuck your orders Wolffe
- “I’ll make sure you’re given a fair trial” you really have no idea who you work for Wolffe do you
- Hunter being willing to stand down when Rex asks him to
- “I know you. As your brother, I’m asking you to do the right thing” the brotherly reunions this season are just paralleling all over the place
- Gregor the handsome fellow that you are. I swear his pauldrons get bigger every time we see him
- “Let my people go” the Exodus vibes are strong here too
- Guess we’re gonna be finding out what makes this CX so special. Still can’t believe he survived.
- Rex just lost almost all of his men again 😣😭
- The sheer respect and care that Hunter and Rex have for each other. The hand on the shoulder. The losses that tie them together. The worry and earnestness in Hunter’s face and tone when he tells Rex he can’t win. He doesn’t emote this much to people he doesn’t consider family.
- The ways Hunter still is hesitant to do anything but run and hide, and Rex still can’t give up. Not quite yet.
- How Hunter won’t be able to either until they know what is really going on with Omega.

Hey does anyone have a screenshot of Reid’s driver’s license or his credentials that list his birthday as October 28? I’m trying to figure something out and I can’t find the episode/s where this is shown. I know a license is sort of seen in 12.1 but we only see Scratch’s copy for his fake ID so idk how accurate it is. I was told there’s an image of Reid’s actual license, or his credentials with both his birthday and address visible in an episode but I can’t find the episode.
If anyone can help me out either by telling me which episode/s to rewatch or just giving me the screenshots I’m looking for that would be super helpful thank you!

Okay okay, I’m rewatching season 2 and I do not know how I missed the scene where in episode one Gabriel goes “you what it like when you don’t know anything at all and yet you’re totally certain that everything would be better if you were just near one particular person?”

Kim Possible
Tick-Tick-Tick Episode #1
Hi! My name is Deanna Winchester mulitfandom (more then one fandom) blogger I decided to
create my very first blog post review of Disney’s Kim Possible.
My author block delayed this long running pop culture review.
This is actually the first episode to ever aired but of course it aired out of order on the Disney Channel.
It first aired on the Disney channel USA on June 14, 2002. Toon Disney premiere: April 11, 2005.
Kim Possible was and is my childhood show it amazing to review all episodes. This is a fun rewatch that I actually enjoyed.
Kim Possible is one of my favorite Disney animated character, it exciting to watch this show and revisit it.
I rewatch this show i never thought though to do an episode review. This is a good idea this is also my comforting show when adulting goes too far.
The episode Disney plus synopsis is I insert a screenshot down below
We first introduced to Kim Possible our heroine, the main character but also a spy.
She also has normal life as a high schooler but has no alter ego. She is a cheerleader.
She describes as she can do anything!
Anyway let begin the first episode!
The episode start with Kim Possible anxiously being late as she rush past several people as she went to her locker as she waiting for her assignment to be printed. She is anxiously like come on print please.
Only you think it her assignment to her confusion no it just her best friend Ron Stoppable printing cheat codes for a video game. Kim rightfully so is overwhelmed she has 30 seconds to print her History assignment she is annoyed by Ron. Ron was a comedian in this episode. Ron was so entertaining.
Course as the real paper was about to print there is a paper jam, Ron is nothing to fear Rufus. The viewers are like who the hell is Rufus, it turned out Rufus is Ron’s pet naked mole rat. Kim had doubts until Rufus did his magic, the paper was saved. Yay! Kim is excited and happy that her paper is saved.
Until Kim’s luck was put to test. Kim is stressed and is under lot of pressure she can’t afford to be late.
Unfortunately she rush into the school grumpy staff member Mr Barkin.
It turned out revealed by the audience Kim has been not late for third time she is also on this guy bad side a recipe for disaster. Kim much to her dismay, is ordered detention.
Cut to the badass theme song opening. Christina is such a good singer.
Meanwhile at Possible house we are introduced to Kim family. Her younger mischievous geniuses twin brothers Jim and Tim are introduced her parents are introduced Kim herself revealed the facts her parents are brain surgeon and rocket scientist. Kim told her parents the truth she is not happy she got detention what she is good at. Kim you are good at being a spy badass!
One of her catchphrase no big was introduced
We are introduced to the first time of Wade and the communicator.

So weird question- I remember seeing a post analyzing Yusei, Jack, and Crow’s apartment to determine its actual layout and I know I saw it because of you but can’t remember if you were the OP or if I saw it because of your reblog. Was that you originally?
I ask because I’m rewatching 5Ds and I’m in Carly’s death episode and delaying the pain by paying too much attention to her apartment. When we first see her it looks like she’s living out of her car, then when Jack stays over she seemingly has a small one bedroom place, and in this episode the opening scene makes it look much bigger than mine as far as combining kitchen and living room space
And I’m not sure if you are the right person to ask about fictional building layouts
The post you are looking for is this one! And I wasn't the original OP there, but I was the one who figured out the conundrum with the stairs in the boys' apartment. It was a joint effort trying to make sense of that mess. That said, I AM a floor plan nerd and will absolutely start overanalysing characters' apartments unprompted.
As far as Carly's apartment goes, my memory and what screenshots I have confirm your idea. We at first see Carly in her messy car which clearly includes things like a clothesline, but when she invites Jack to crash at her place later, she has what amounts to a one bedroom apartment. Now, I don't know the size of your apartment, obviously, but I'm assuming you're referring to the episode where Carly gets the unfortunate idea to infiltrate the Arcadia Movement. What we see of her apartment there is basically just this:
Wall 1, which holds her whole kitchen plus a washing machine (which makes me realise I described her apartment wrong in Architect, fuck)
Wall 2, with a big window and a couch (presumably either Jack or Carly slept on this while Jack was crashing at her place, and given his personality, it likely wasn't Jack)
And wall 3 to the left here, which is just windows.
What this gives us is a room setup that probably looks something like this:
(I once again demonstrate my mastery of MS paint. Disclaimer: Not to scale + I fumbled the couch placement.)
Orange is all the clearly visible furniture, blue all the clearly visible windows and green is the area that isn't shown. Presumably, since we see no bed in the shots of Carly in her apartment, something like a bedroom and bathroom would have to be by the left wall here, the entrance maybe in the corner next to the kitchen. So it's definitely not a big apartment, but it also doesn't exactly look like Carly's one step away from living on the street.
Hope that helps!

It’s been over 2 weeks since I last posted. Well. I hope that these four pieces were worth the wait.
Mulori! Boy I’m proud of this piece! I tried experimenting with colour by using warmer colours for shadows and cool colours for lights. She’s really giving angel of war descending from the heavens.
What to say about Mulori? Her death! You’re telling me that scout Gosemdouchi got a whole ass music video dedicated to him and Mulori gets NOTHING?! I’m outraged. But her edition of In the Years I Spent Far From Home is just so beautiful. Now I’m writing about it, I’m not sure if they made a separate cover for when she sings it in Operation White Snow or she was always singing it. Non the less it slaps.
Interesting was to see she’s shown often with Commander Gosemdouchi. He personally sends her off on her mission to stop the weasel spies (I’m sorry I don’t remember the name of their group). He cries when she dies, proclaiming they should fire their missiles for Mulori. The reason why I find it interesting is that when I went to write a short story about Mulori’s time in the military, I made them have a let’s say weird relationship. Maybe it got saved in my unconscious memory. Just like with Udochi being scout Gosemdouchi’s younger brother LOL. I thought I made that up but no!
I should maybe go back to that story sometime. Probably change Commander Gosemdouchi to a lower rank hedgehog that still has authority over her. A country leader would not have time to bully some low rank scout. Even though it is quite funny when I think about it.
Oewepali! I got told that this piece lacks depth because I use the same colours in the foreground and background. That’s a problem in all my pieces. It’s my fault for trying to use a very limited colour palette. Also what happened to his left arm and now that I’m looking at it, where’s his tail? The lighting too is… With the lighting in these pieces I wasn’t thinking about where it would logically go. I just made the lighter parts where they would look good compositionally. Yeah. I’m not that proud of the last two pictures.
As for what I think of this character… I originally thought that he got some developmental disability. I thought it would be interesting to write about a character during war that doesn’t really understand what’s going on. Kinda like Forest Gump. After rewatching the series (I still have to rewatch last two episodes) I came to the conclusion that he’s neurotypical but bullied by his brothers into thinking that he’s stupid. In the later episodes he’s shown to be actually quite capable. If I ever write a story featuring him I might give him like dyslexia though. I imagine he and his brothers went through a lot of trauma. Because he was the youngest and maybe had difficulty with learning they picked on him to let their frustration out.
Mulsajo! That’s right! I know his name now! I drew his paw like that because it was like that in the reference. I don’t really like it but I don’t have an idea how I would change it. I did change though, his teeth. My mom shown me rodent teeth because she didn’t like the mice have cat fangs. So he is a little more anatomically correct. Ignore the dog nose and that he’s anthropomorphic. LOL.
I took just so many screenshots! I should sometime post them. I love how they’re drawn in this picture! SO CUTE!
Mulsajo has one of the best designs in the show. The ripped up purple shirt is iconic. It was a while since I’ve seen the episodes with him. Before rewatching the show I thought he was a decent guy. Then I rewatch the show and he’s so mean to poor Oewepali. Dude can’t get a break. My head cannon still is that he’s nice but because they were starving, he’s aloud to be a bit grumpy. He’s also spiritual. Giving us one of the funnier jokes when Oewepali asks if he can eat the big fish only to be told no and then complain that Mulmangcho should have died earlier. This show’s dark humour is pretty great.
I want to develop my own mythology for my AU. Such as the mouse kings being descended from the sea god because Mulmangcho (he’s a king in exile in my AU) is often shown by the sea. It’s something I was thinking about when I drew this piece. It’s also inspired by Mulsajo’s death. Now if we’re talking about a main side character dying, Mulsajo has it the worst. He is never mentioned again in season 1. If you didn’t pay attention you wouldn’t have noticed he died. He is only sort of mentioned in season 2 episode 1. Mulmangcho is in disguise as a squirrel making up stories about what the wolves did to him and his family. He mentions his twelve dead brothers and how they cut off his tail. You begin to realise that he’s talking about what Flower Hill did to him. Obviously the moral is to never trust strangers no matter what they tell you. But I like to view it as a rare sympathetic scene for Mulmangcho. If someone was to write a continuation of season 2 I would like to see them expand on that scene.
Also fan art idea to design Mulmangcho’s 11 other dead brothers?
Last one up is Scout Gosemdouchi. Please don’t pay much attention to the plane. I really got to do some airplane studies. For the background I tried something more graphic and non literal. Lots of people I shown it to think he’s jumping out of the plane.
I actually have some trauma dumping I want to do. I swear it’s related to Squirrel and Hedgehog. If you don’t want to hear me whine about my catholic trauma then skip the next paragraph.
Alright then. Let’s get on with it. So I was like 8 years old. Our whole catholic school went to church. The priest starts preaching about this “real” story from China. The communists were cracking down on Christians. Some soldiers trashed a church. Taking special care the throw the Eucharist on the ground and stomp it with their muddy boots. Later a little girl would sneak into the boarded up church and lick the Eucharist off the ground. One day a soldier noticed her doing that AND SHOT HER ON SIGHT! Lesson? Be willing to die for your god.
I guess I like the cartoon because it reminds me of my childhood. LOL. Be sure to share your stories of childhood indoctrination in the comments! For real though, scout Gosemdouchi’s and Mulori’s deaths are to me the grossest parts of Squirrel and Hedgehog. Luckily I’ve got my head cannons that sort of fix that for me.
Originally this was the first picture I talked about but I found what I had to say was quite depressing. Plus religion is a touchy subject. I hope I didn’t offend anyone. I’m just talking about my own experiences. Also it’s good to have it off my chest. Now I don’t have to think about it anymore! YAY!
#got a bit carried away with doing character illustrations#and there’s still more characters I want to draw#feel free to suggest a character from the show#scout Gosemdouchi’s death made me remember some old trauma#squirrel and hedgehog#fanart#my art#procreate#furry art#digital art

Perceptiveness and Power: A Remus Essay
While this could just be me reiterating what was already presented in canon, I just wanted to acknowledge the semantics of Remus as a side, and how his sense of perceptiveness provides him a semblance of power to influence both Thomas and the other sides.
In DWIT, to explain how Remus was able to garner anxiety from Thomas, Patton, and Virgil, Logan describes him as someone who “plays to [Thomas’] sensitivities.”
And, well, fucking duh. I think majority of the fandom acknowledges that Remus uses fear as a means to gain control or get the attention of the other sides and Thomas. But a thing I think most people don’t acknowledge as much is how skilled Remus is at understanding fears in the first place.
[rest of the essay is under the cut!]
Because random, stereotypical R18 stuff is generally scary; it appeals to what the status quo collectively thinks is inhumane or awful. But to me, this isn’t actually what provides Remus power to influence the others. He garners control via understanding personal fears. And, I mean, double fucking duh because it would hit more if someone can thoroughly sniff out the insecurities you keep secret from the world.
But I still think that Remus’ perceptiveness of one’s fears generally goes unnoticed. I think it’s underestimated, even, both in the fandom and in Sanders Sides itself. We think this man is Silly, he said so himself, but I think we also have to realize that Remus is deliberate. Yes, his goals can be silly and can change on a whim, but that does not mean that Remus is dumb. He commits. He commits in the way that he creates complicated traps for Thomas to feel more and more insecure about himself. He commits in the way that he plays into Virgil and Patton’s fears, toying with their warped sense of black-and-white thinking to make Thomas become more insecure.
If Remus wants to do something, he’s perceptive enough to know which insecurities he has to feast on to make it work.
Rewatching DWIT, I’ve noticed that, besides his random comments, he makes comments that directly describe the insecurities of everyone else in the room. It’s interesting, because he can make a string of comments unrelated to the matter at hand, then he’ll drop a heavy fucking bomb calling out the insecurities of another person. Here are the different examples I caught in DWIT and WTIT:
Reaping Thomas’ morality crisis:
His awareness of Logan’s neglect:
Two instances of his awareness of Virgil’s internal morality conflict:
Even Roman tells Thomas that Remus reminds him of his own insecurities. What a fucking madman. (all /lh btw, I fucking LOVE devious schemers):
And the scary part about this is that... this is the first time we see him. Of course, the sides would know him way before this episode, but the fact Remus can read them well without being close to them is terrifying.
The question is, what becomes of Remus’ perceptiveness and harvested power? While I am a Remus and Logan-centric blog, I do think there’s enough scenes in both DWIT and WTIT that could potentially foreshadow the future of their dynamic, and the execution of how Logan comes to terms with the others’ neglect towards him.
First scene:
Like, this feels a little… too on the nose. Knock on wood, Logan, especially when you acknowledge what happened in WTIT.
Second scene, to provide more context on what I want to explain: I can’t just provide screenshots for this, and I can’t attach a video, so please watch DWIT from 29:42-29:55. If you can’t, here’s a transcript:
[Logan: And THAT is precisely why the Duke feels like such a threat. In part, at least. The feeling that you may be a bad person who doesn't have control over yourself or your destiny causes you to fear that you may actually act on these thoughts.]
An important part to denote is that Remus shifts is eyes when Logan says “feelig that you may be a bad person who doesn’t have control over yourself.” There’s something very mischievous and cheeky about that eye shift, from looking directly at Logan and looking away as if saying, well isn’t that hypocritical?
Look at the transcript again, too. Even without Remus’ eyeroll, doesn’t the person Logan describe feel a little… familiar to you? Of course, they all shared the loss of the audition, but think: which of the sides has hinted anger issues (“doesn’t have control over yourself”) and has lost the opportunity to heavily influence Thomas’ life, especially in terms of career (“or your destiny”)?
Of course: Logan.
While Logan is correct in saying intrusive thoughts don’t have real-world impact, Logan is also correct in saying that Patton and Virgil are at fault for reacting intensely against Remus’ funneled intrusive thoughts, causing Thomas’ mental health to dip further.
But Remus does not just invoke fear via horrors that the collective status quo would consider as horror. Remus understands and is perceptive of the other sides and Thomas’ personal fear, just like I established a while ago. And with the way he calls out other sides’ insecurities, sometimes he just... does it, because he wants to. Not just as his role as intrusive thoughts, but possibly just a personal agenda to fulfill.
So, in essence, Remus as intrusive thoughts may not hurt Logan, but Remus as a perceptive, cunning, committed, goal-oriented person still can.
If he sniffs an insecurity out of Logan, would you think he still has no “real-world impact”?
Yeah, thought so.
While I don’t actually know what Remus would want out of Logan, I do think that, at a meta-angle, Remus can provide... a lot of insight and advice for Logan in terms of gaining power and handling mistreatment, whether it would be beneficial for Logan or not.
All I’m gonna say is, Remus’ character is very interesting, and I’m heavily intrigued to know how he would continue bothering the other sides, especially Logan.

9 people you want to know better tag game
Tagged by @demoncatapologist! Howdy, friend!
Three ships: I’m not a super big shipper… although I do like to ship my own characters for fun, canon or not. Right now I’ve been focused on two OCs me and a friend of mine made together over six years ago. One of them is a very tall mean bisexual and the other is a girlboss going through a divorce. That’s all right now :)
First ship: I think it may have been Ash and Misty from Pokémon. I remember reading fanfiction about them.
Last song: Daylight Robbery by Imogen Heap. Such a banger. Highly recommend
Last movie: Alien!! Oh my god this movie altered my brain chemistry. I went in thinking it was going to be some kind of scifi horror movie and came out of it laughing my ass off out of pure excitement. The sets, costumes, and practical effects in this movie are ASTOUNDING. My mind was absolutely blown. I’ve been going back through the movie a few times a week to take screenshots of scenes I like so I can redraw them because I want everything to be tangible in my hands. Epic anti-corporation message, too. What a good movie.
Currently watching: Struggling my way through the Umbrella Academy season 4 with my parents. Mostly been watching Secret Sleepover Society vods on YouTube and rewatching old episodes of Drawfee. I just finished watching Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous and Jurassic World Chaos Theory and I really liked both of those, too! WAY more intense for kids shows than I thought they’d be, and I loved every second.
Currently reading: Milk Blood Heat by Dantiel W. Moniz, The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, and Solitaire by Alice Oseman. Also some theatre textbooks for school, the Backstage Handbook, and Stop the Show by Brad Schreiber. I’m about to be consumed by technical theatre in a month or so and no one is ready for it, not even me.
Currently eating: Some penne pasta with pesto sauce and spinach. I always eat pasta on Tuesday nights. I love a good bowl of pasta
Currently craving: I went to Seoul a few months ago and had kimchi rice with a fried egg on top and haven’t stopped thinking about how good it was. I need to find a good Korean restaurant near me…
I can’t really think of people to tag but if you want to do this, consider this an honorary tag. Tag! You’re it!
#sorry this took me a bit to do but I’ve been busy starting school#this was fun! some good questions in there#do I have a tag for tag games?#tag game#i do now

Hi it’s my first time watching the devil judge and i found ur analysis on each episode after rewatching and i really really love how u put things out just wanted to let u know that i can’t wait for ur analysis on ep13 cuz yohan’s expression when gaon was crying over soohyun totally puzzles me and i wanted to know what u think
Hi, sorry for the late reply. And here are the screenshots of Yohan's expression in Ep 13 - watching as Soohyun died in the arms of Gaon, and Gaon breaking down over her death.
The first was this - the moment when Soohyun had been shot.
I think, at this point, it was mostly shock. The widening of his eyes giving it away, even though the rest of him appeared to be emotionless.
And to me, this indicated how good Yohan was at controlling his expressions. He had years of practice, having to put up a front to hide how he truly felt. And considering that this is such a public place, and at this point, we weren't even sure if the cameras had stopped rolling or that someone might have a phone up and taking pictures. And I think, Yohan clamping down on his emotions till they were barely showing - it was all instinctual. Yet we can still see some degree of shock in him, and that showed how affected he must be.
Next, we have Yohan, the mask that he wore, cracking.
The reddening of his eyes, the wettness in them that shows how much Soohyun, lying there and dying, and nothing could be done to stop it. It had Yohan's heart hurting.
And I think there are many layers to his grief. The first is probably him being reminded of Isaac's death and how helpless he had been at that point in time. Unable to lift up the beam that had pinned Isaac down. Unable to save him at all.
And accompanying that grief. there would have been guilt. That he had survived when Isaac and Cecilia had died. That Elijah had been rendered handicapped while he was still whole and intact. And that is another form of grief - one that eats you up from the inside out.
The 'fiery pit' that Yohan had told Gaon about after Soohyun's burial. And which I feel was what drove Yohan to live the way he did. Only Elijah and revenge were all he had allowed himself to live for. And even if he were to become a monster, a devil, while doing so - it's what he deserved, having survived when others had died.
And Yohan, I think his heart is grieving for Gaon too. Cause he knows exactly how it feels to lose someone so suddenly and so violently. And while Jinjoo had turned her head away and cried, the moment Soohyun had breathed her last. Yohan hadn't.
He had kept his eyes on Gaon, just like he had done so when Gaon had broken down in the prison yard. Watching his every sob, his every wretched cry cause Yohan knows that no amount of words nor hugs could ever console Gaon. And all that he could do - it was to be there, to be the silent witness to Gaon's tears, Gaon's grief. Taking it all in without flinching nor looking away.
Then we have this last shot of him before the episode ends.
I'm not sure if this is the expression you're referring to - the one that got you confused. Cause it did confuse me when I first watched TDJ.
Yohan, he looked cold, even heartless at Soohyun's death. And considering how the previous episodes, they had established the two of them as not being on good terms. It sort of makes you wonder if Soohyun's death - was Yohan thinking only about how it might affect his plans, especially with regards to Gaon.
But knowing how complex Yohan is. I think there is more to it than just that.
Of course, Yohan would definitely think about his revenge first. That will always be his priority after Elijah. And Gaon, now that he is part of his team, despite the huge quarrel they had not long ago. Yohan had to assess whether a distraught Gaon would do anything rash. He is, after all, a pretty emotional and impulsive creature (look at him driving off to strangle the con-artist), and Yohan had to think of safety measures - not just to protect his plans but to protect Gaon, in case he decides to do something stupid.
At the same time, Yohan isn't one to let his emotions take charge of him. Already putting them aside cause they are of little use to him right now.
Focusing instead on why Soohyun had been shot. His mind going through possible motives and suspects. And what tasks he should delegate to his team in order to determine if Soohyun was the real target or merely an unfortunate victim.
And all these, I suspect, had him looking like he didn't care. Not to mention that Yohan, he knew he had to stay calm and in control in order to take care of Gaon who was falling apart. Probably thinking of how he could get Gaon back to the mansion and make him stay put again. And underneath that, Yohan even thinking ahead to the point in time when Gaon, if he wanted revenge, how he could help him get it.
Yohan is a complex person. And I think that last expression of him - others might take it as him being cold-hearted and remorseless. But to me, it's a sign of his strength, which had helped him survive so many shitty things in his life.
