Character Names in LBFAD â Meaning and Significance

Whatâs in a name? For the characters of LBFAD (Love Between Fairy and Devil), a whole lot of hidden meanings! These are not apparent to English viewers. Here are my translations and interpretations of these meanings.
DongFang Qing Cang - äžæčéè: âEast, Cyan, Dark blueâ
The surname âDongFangâ means East, the direction of the rising sun. Both Dongfang Qingcangâs (DFQC) personal terrace at Silent Moon Palace and the replica Arbiter Hall he built for Xiao Lanhua (XLH) face East, and capture the most beautiful sunrises. DFQC (and previous generations of DongFangs) are well-respected by their people and enjoy the best locations and residences in Cangyan Sea.
The âCangâ in DFQC was named for his realm, âCangâ Yan Sea, as he was expected to be its leader and follow the path set for him by his father, and Lady Yan before him. Lady Yan chose to rid herself of emotions in order to wield Hellfire, and DFQCâs father forced the same decision onto him. The hanzi (mandarin character) for âCangâ in DFQC and Cangyan Sea means dark blue, and the darkness of this colour represents the darkness of the path he was expected to follow.

But âCangâ is not the only colour in DFQCâs name! The âQingâ in his name means lighter shades of blue/green, or cyan. And despite his prescribed mission to emotionlessly conquer the three realms, DFQC has many lighter, more peaceful shades to his character that reveal themselves as the series progresses. He forms a friendship and brotherhood with his enemy Changheng, who shares with him a love of playing music, art and cuju! And he rises above the cruel dictator of Shuiyuntian who almost annihilated his people, by sending his people to aid Shuiyuntian.
(The aurora borealis in Cangyan Sea is also cyan and dark blue :D DFQC might have been named for this as well as for Cangyan Sea!)
Xiao Lan Hua - ć°ć
°è±: âLittle Orchid Flowerâ
We are first introduced to our female lead as âXiao Lanhuaâ, which is not a name, but a description of what she believes her true form to be, a little orchid flower. But this was a disguise given to her by her parents and upheld by Siming. Her real name is Xiyun.

Xi Yun - æŻèž: âEvery breathâ
The character for âXiâ in XLHâs true name is the same as the âXiâ in her realm, âXishanâ, and means breath (of life). Just like DFQC, she is named for her realm, as she was the intended leader of Xishan as its Goddess. The Xilan tribe of Xishan had powerful healing magics, and hers is the most powerful of all, with the ability to resurrect the dead with her blood, thus providing the breath of life. She uses this to great effect, resurrecting DFQC in ep. 26, everyone who died on the battlefield in ep. 31, and freeing the 100,000 sealed soldiers of the Moon Tribe.
The âYunâ in her name meaning every, combined with âXiâ can be interpreted as âevery breathâ. Sadly, XLHâs every breath is for one purpose and brings her closer to her one destiny. She is fated to sacrifice herself to save the three realms from Taisui. If this had happened, then like Lady Chidi before her, her sacrifice would soon have been forgotten.

Chi Di - 蔀ć°: âRed/Barren Earthâ
The âChiâ in Lady Chidiâs name means red, and paired with âDiâ meaning earth, can also mean barren earth. She is the only official in Shuiyuntian seen wearing Red, as even the current God of War, Changheng, conforms to the same white and pale blue robes that other officials wear. Chidi is therefore a standout who asserts her individuality and does not conform to expectations. Her way of thinking outside the box, led to DFQC and his 100,000 Moon Tribe soldiers being completely blindsided by her sacrifice 30,000 years ago. It also led to her breaking heavenâs laws to resurrect Ronghao, to her later detriment.
Chidi wields powerful earth magics, as represented by her name. These are so powerful that she is able to seal the 100,000 soldiers of the Moon Tribe within the barren earth of Xuanxu realm. Her mighty Shuofeng sword is also swallowed by the barren earth and her magic cannot be reversed without her primordial spirit.

Xun Feng - ć·œéŁ: âObedient windâ
The âXunâ in Xunfeng means to obey, and the âFengâ means wind. His name can be interpreted as either âobedient to the windâ or an âobedient windâ. Like the wind, Xunfeng lacks substance, confidence and ability, and is disrespected by his people during DFQCâs imprisonment. Many contenders try to steal his position as Moon Supreme, and he almost dies on the Wind Plain until DFQC arrives to save him.
But Xunfeng cares fiercely for his people. In his attempt to protect them, he collaborates with Ronghao without knowing his identity or motivations. He is thus âobedient to the windâ where Ronghao is an unknown and unseen entity, like the wind. Xunfeng is unable to discern that Ronghao is keeping Cangyan Sea in a constant state of civil unrest and tormenting the souls of deceased Moon Tribe members until much later, with DFQCâs help!

Shang Que - è§é: âWatchtowerâ
âQueâ meaning watchtower is an apt description for DFQCâs lieutenant and right-hand man. Shangque has many talents suiting him to this role! These include his ability to be stealthy, gather information discreetly, undertake covert missions successfully, act as a powerful defensive force, and a healing one due to his skill with Chinese medicine. Like a watchtower, he kept watch for 30,000 years during DFQCâs absence on all events occurring within the three realms. His loyalty and love for DFQC, whom he views as a brother and whose return he awaited for 30,000 years, are astounding!
âShangâ paired with âQueâ can mean lacking sustenance. This is the state Shangque was in when orphaned as a young boy, and many tried to take advantage of him and his dragon body. If not for DFQC saving him, he would likely have perished from hunger or been murdered :(
Jie Li - ç»é»: âDark knotâ
Jieli suffers from much internal torment which is like a dark knot inside her. From the moment she was born, she never knew or received love, and was raised by people who continually exploited her, physically harming her and threatening her life. That she is even capable of loving and caring for others is a miracle! Unlike Shangque, nobody like DFQC ever stepped in to save her and care for her.
Jieli cares deeply for both XLH and Shangque. Her life under threat, she makes some bad choices such as spilling a drop of Chidiâs blood onto the Bone Orchid. This is one of many dark and knotty situations she encounters. Although she soon decides she would rather die than hurt XLH, Dieyi poisons Shangque to force her obedience.

Yun Zhong - äșäž: âAmong the cloudsâ
Yunzhong literally lives among the clouds, but his head is also in the clouds. He is very narrow-minded and cannot think outside the box. When XLH does not fit within the eight-class system of Shuiyuntian, he immediately decides she is Moon Tribe (even before the Bone Orchid protects her) without considering other possibilities. He is so strict with Changheng that he would rather execute the most powerful asset to Shuiyuntian (and his brother!!) than tolerate the slightest disobedience! Throughout the series, he is intent on exterminating the Moon Tribe and almost does in ep. 31 on completely false pretences.

Chang Heng - éżç©: âSteadfast birdâ
Like the golden bird brooches that the celestials wear to represent their tribe, Changheng is a model citizen of Shuiyuntian. He is steadfast and loyal to his duties and puts these above his personal desires. When trying to rescue XLH from Cangyan Sea in ep. 13, he is honest with her that he cannot break the rules of Shuiyuntian, and only hopes that Yunzhong will be reasonable and lenient towards her! Changheng is far more steadfast and loyal than the average celestial. He is the only one apart from Ronghao to visit Chidiâs grave on her death anniversary, honours his brotherhood with DFQC after returning to the immortal world, and after learning Ronghaoâs secret identity, listens to his side of the story.
Dan Yin - äžčéł: âCrimson tidingsâ
Twice, Danyin is the bearer of important news, relaying her visions from the Tianji mirror to the sacrifice of her own desires. First, she tells a wounded and imprisoned Changheng about his wedding to XLH in the mortal realm, causing him to start a mortal tribulation. Then, she tells Yunzhong and the High Council about XLHâs true identity as the Goddess, saving Changheng from execution and leading to his wedding with XLH.

Rong Hao - ćźčæ: âVastly compromisingâ
Ronghao has âone tiny earthly desireâ, that his beloved master can live. What he is prepared to do to achieve this includes burning the souls of dead celestials and Moon tribe, massacring the entire Xilan population including their women and children, forcing his master to endure 30,000 years of cruel mortal tribulations and using evil qi to keep her alive. His willingness to vastly compromise both himself and her leaves Lady Chidi aghast.
Die Yi - è¶èĄŁ: âButterfly costumeâ
Dieyi is a shape-shifter and the different forms she takes, butterfly or woman, are her costumes, which help her to be sneaky and nefarious.

Xie Wanqing - è°ąæćż: âWithering sighâ
Having forgotten her life as Lady Chidi, Xie Wanqing feels incomplete without knowing why, expressed by her sad sighs. Chidi is forced to endure countless mortal tribulations just like this one and die (wither) repeatedly. In each of these lives she is condemned to be murdered by the one she loves!
Xiao Run - è§æ¶Š: âMournful wealthâ
Both Xiao Run and his true self as Changheng come from positions of wealth and noble status. But both of them mourn the loss of freedom that comes from this â although Xiao Run is more of a carefree rebel! :D

Si Ming - ćžćœ: âArbiter of fateâ
Using the power of her position as Arbiter of Fate, Siming has repeatedly defied heavenâs laws and changed fate! She resurrects Ronghao as an immortal, creating a new destiny leaf for him. She released the convicted dragon Chang Yuan and married him. And she instructs DFQC on how to also defy natureâs laws and change destiny! :D
Chang Yuan - éżæž âSteadfast abyssâ
He is the deep abyss that Siming falls into, as in choosing him, she accepts the fate of being imprisoned with him in the Ruins of Myriad Heavens for the rest of eternity. But at least he is steadfastly loyal to her.

Tai Sui - ć€ȘćČ: âVery Ancientâ
This most ancient of tricksters could not be defeated by numerous generations of Goddesses, who merely sealed him beneath Xishan. Over his very long life spanning hundreds of millenia, he has learned to tell whatever lies are needed to manipulate others and ensure his survival.

I'm working on finishing up this chapter of lbfd. After I was finally able to get out of bed (sorry Beetle, I know you were starving) I had a lot of dialogue thoughts in my head for Clark's interview of Danny and Jason that I got down. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to write the whole interview, since it would just be recapping, but there's some good summation I want to get in there.
I was planning to write it as just Clark sitting down with them, but now I'm not sure if it would be better written as if it was an article? Issue is, I don't read articles like that so I don't know if I could to it justice... Right now 98% of it is just dialogue so I could work the tags around it either way.
Ah... writing decisions.

Throughout the entire series, in translation, Dongfang calls Orchid just a little flower spirit. But in the book and in the drama, he actually calls her ć°è±ćŠ XiÇo HuÄyÄo a little flower demon. It starts back in the second episode, when he doesn't know her name yet. But the funny thing is that he doesn't call her that right away. Before this she forces him to return her hair, which of course impresses him. And then she begins to explain that one can't take away someone's work, thereby justifying her intention to release the criminal from the pagoda. And after that Dongfang begins to call her ć°è±ćŠ XiÇo HuÄyÄo.

Of course, I wanted to learn more about this nickname in order to understand what meaning was put into these words, because he called her that until the very end, although he used it less often in the last episodes.
A few facts. The translation of the word demon in Chinese mythology is significantly different from what we are used to. By the way, the same word is called Ying Zhao. It seemed strange to me that demons turned out to be cuties, but when you learn more about the meaning of this word, you understand why you didn't perceive it quite correctly.

For us, demons and devils are more similar in meaning. If we are not talking about the Devil, then devils are the same demons. But they don't in Chinese mythology.
I copied this for you
ćŠ yÄo - demons or alternatively translated as monsters. Born when an animal, plant, or even an inanimate object absorbs spiritual energy over a long period of time and then gains spiritual awareness. Not inherently evil, although many have antagonistic relationships with humans.
é mĂł - devils or alternatively translated as fiends. Evil spirits/creatures of remarkable power and cruelty. Similar to the demons and devils of Western mythology. In some novels, evil cultivators emulate them by practicing devilish cultivation methods and committing atrocities in their pursuit of power.
Some novels consider Demons and Devils to be a single species (ćŠé Yaomo), others as distinct species (ćŠæ Yao race / éæ Mo race).
é is sometimes translated as "Demon", which can be confusing at times (particularly when ćŠ is also used in the novel).
However, this is not all. I dug through the material and found something interesting.
ćŠ yÄo Initially, this is a female image. A mix of two images of a woman and a baby that are superimposed on each other. The beauty of a woman who hasn't yet submitted, the extraordinary one.
Original meaning: beautiful, magnificent. Enchanted girl, charming girl. Extended: inappropriate behavior, demonic spirit. Witchcraft, demon, magic.
The words demonic, gorgeous, beautiful are closely intertwined in the meaning of this word. This is a demoness, a witch, a sorceress.
Other translation variants are abnormal, bizarre, phenomenon, goblin, evil, magnificent, charming, fascinating.
I believe this is important that it's a female image, and not just a demon. So Dongfang admits her feminine essence.
I think that the closest thing to European culture is the image of a witch, or rather even a sorceress. Beautiful, rebellious, dangerous, powerful. Like Triss and Yennefer from the Witcher, if you're familiar with this universe.
So it's on the verge of a compliment and an insult. Some women are offended when they are called witches, while others are flattered. Maybe this is another reason why Orchid interrupts him so abruptly and tells him not to distract her. Not only because he says that she has features of the moon tribe, but also because he uses such an address to her. This is a curious question. But it's debatable.
Also, it's perceived as the opposite of a fairy. Fairy and sorceress, beautiful and sweet against beautiful but wicked.
I also found an agave plant, one of the varieties of which includes the name demon. ćŠç (yÄo yĂĄn Demon's flame). It has spikes. Considering that Orchid is a plant, this adds a new meaning, the orchid with thorns.
Anyway, it's pity that in the English version they refused to use this nickname, because I think it adds more colors to the relationship between Lanhua and Dongfang.

Painstakingly arranged my queue so that while I'm getting through the backlog of posting my fics it has two non-fic posts in between each fic
Technically I could have just dumped in all the fics and lowered the posting frequency, but I also have hundreds of drafts that I want to get rid of... a lot of them I can't bc I need to finish the shows but I want to dump the other posts
I also tried to keep the fics in order for posting, but I've been adding to the queue just in general while scrolling my dash in addition to getting into some tags + getting rid of old drafts, so I think once the last fic posts I'm gonna shuffle my queue đ€
#i actually got an error message bc i was far enough back in my drafts that tumblr didn't want to post them anymore rip#it's not my fault that people made so many beautiful lbfd gifsets!!#it is my fault tho that i haven't finished the show

It's so funny how I went lie low on Kdramas this year as nothing has been really piquing my interest (life took charge of the steering wheel, and everything has just been constantly changingâpriorities, preference, views, etc.).
But then, I came across LBFD. And now, I find myself inevitably falling down the rabbit hole of Cdramas, where I learned about a whole universe of unexplored genresâwuxia, xianxia, and xuanhuan.
And, as if to mock me, life has given me a new list of men I cannot haveâfrom ì€ëč (oppa), I now have a list of unattainable ć„ć„ (gege) that I constantly swoon over, too. Sigh.
(Sometimes, I also think about how cool I'd look if I spit blood once I get hurt.)

Oooh I love this! They're so sweet đ
I always have a few CLJ WIPs on the go that I work on when I feel like it, so I've decided to share a snippet from this modern AU. Feat. Xiao Lanhua's disinterest in drinking plain water.
âIâm thirsty. Do you want a drink?â âJust water is fine.â âWater sounds good,â Xiao Lanhua agrees, sitting upright. âBe right back!â She bounds out of the room, only pausing for a moment to throw a robe over her shoulders. Her feet patter nosily down the hardwood floor until he hears them slap down the stairs. And finally, heâs left with silence. Itâs not that their afternoon was unbearable, heâs just not used to so much for so long. So much conversation, so many activities, so many people. He needs to go home and shower and lie in the dark. It isnât long before he hears Xiao Lanhuaâs noisy footsteps approaching again. She lets out a beleaguered sigh as she climbs the last few steps, then makes a quick dash down the hall to the bedroom. âIâm back!â she declares with a grin. In her hands are two glasses with a light pink tint. At first, Dongfang Qingcang assumes it must be the colour of the glassâbut as she passes him one he quickly realizes itâs the contents of the glass, filled nearly to the brim, that make it look pink. âWhat is this?â he asks.
âWater,â she assures him, settling back on the bed beside him.
He frowns at the glass in his hand. The liquid inside is still pink.
âItâs pink,â he points out.
âI just added a little flavouring,â she explains with a shrug. âI donât like plain water. This makes it taste better. I have a whole pitcher in the fridge, itâs nice and cold. You donât mind?â
âNo,â he says, minding. But whatever keeps her happy is obviously better. He can suffer drinking it.
He takes a sip and nearly chokes.
âYou donât like it?â Xiao Lanhua questions, eyes widening.
He gulps down the remaining liquid in his mouth and licks his lips. It was just⊠heâd expected it to be subtler. This is basically juice. Thereâs no trace of water left.
âItâs⊠sweet.â
âItâs sugar-free, donât worry about it.â
âIâm not worried about it,â he mutters, and tries to take another sip. If anything, she should be the one concerned. This canât be good for her teeth.
âItâs my favourite one,â she tells him with a smile. âI put in one pack of lemon crystals, two packs of cotton candy, and three pumps of peach syrup. Itâs like drinking peach rings, isnât it?â
âI donât eat candy.â
She rolls her eyes, then reaches over to pat his stomach. âOf course you donât.â
He isnât sure what to say to that.

How Immortals age in cdramas â clues from LBFAD

Many of our favourite cdramas sweep us into the beautiful fantasy world of the Xianxia genre, where immortal beings live for thousands of years! But they look so young?! How does ageing work for these lucky immortals in terms of human appearance? LBFAD (Love Between Fairy and Devil) gives us a few clues about this mysterious process!
Details are below, but in a nutshell, immortal beings grow quickly in childhood then the appearance of ageing slows down and stops! Sometimes their hair turns white when they are drained of energy making them look older than they should! For spirits who have cultivated from plant or animal form, it works differently as they transform directly into adult human form :) I created a graph of the immortal ageing process vs. human appearance based on clues from LBFAD (appears further down, yes I am a math nerd and proud :D ).
Young child

Our first clue to the mysteries of immortal ageing is Changheng, who was a few hundred years old during the Battle of Two Tribes (30,000 years ago) and is described as having been only a young boy at that time (letâs say around 7). Babies born to immortal parents mature (relatively) quickly into young children over a few hundred years, but ageing slows down after that.
Shangque was also a young boy when he was orphaned and rescued by a young DongFang QingCang (DFQC). Since Shangque describes DFQC as like a brother to him, they are likely of a similar age and DFQC was also a young boy at that time - both a few hundred years old.
Pre-teen

Shangque says that he has served DFQC for 38,000 years since DFQC saved him (in ep. 17). For the last 30,000 of those, DFQC was imprisoned in Haotian tower. Therefore, DFQC had been aged just over 8,000 years during the Battle of the Two Tribes - rough guess 8,500 â 9,000 years old since he was a young boy when he saved Shangque. The Battle of Two Tribes occurred soon after killing his father* and physically, his appearance was of an 11-year-old at that time (the actor was 11 during filming).
At this time, Xunfengâs appearance was of a 9-year-old (actor was 9), and his age probably around 5,000 years old (based on graph below :D )
Xiao Lanhuaâs (XLH) first life with her parents in the beautiful mountains of Xishan was also cut short when she was the same age as DFQC entering Haotian Tower. Her actress was also 11 during the tragic massacre of her tribe, and she began a new life as a little orchid flower spirit hidden in the mortal realm.
(*We know that the Battle of Two Tribes occurred soon after the death of DFQCâs father because XLH tells his fatherâs spirit in ep. 17 that 30,000 years have passed since his death).
Early 20s

The immortals Xunfeng, DFQC and Changheng have the appearance of young men aged 21, 22 and 23 (the age of their actors during filming) and represent the early 20s demographic in human appearance! 30,000 years have now passed and their immortal ages are around 35,000 for Xunfeng, 30,500 for Changheng, and 39,000 years for DFQC. (Sadly for DFQC, his body had been unconscious over these 30,000 years while imprisoned in Haotian tower, but his disembodied spirit had stayed conscious and pounded on the Haotian matrix every day.)
Thus immortals aged 30,000 to 40,000 years seem to take on the appearance of humans in their early 20s. Wouldnât it be great to stay 21 for thousands of years?! :D
Early 30s

The ages of most of the other characters are unknown, but we have one more clue from an older immortal! We know that Supreme Liyuan is aged over 80,000 years, as he tells âChanghengâ in ep. 12 that he is over 50,000 years older than him, and Changheng himself is aged ~30,500 years. Physically, Liyuanâs human appearance is mostly that of a 33-year-old man (the age of his actor during filming). What is strange about his appearance is his hair, which had turned white during the Battle of Two Tribes and never recovered â more on this phenomenon further down.
The Immortal ageing process
Based on the clues LBFAD gave us, here is my take on the ageing process for immortal beings born to immortal parents. Plant spirits, and animal spirits (mentioned in the novel but not the drama) that cultivate into human form are discussed separately below.

Hair turning white
We sometimes see the hair of immortals turning white when they are drained of their energy and cultivation. It happens to three immortals in LBFAD. The first is Ronghao â he uses up half of his cultivation to heal Changheng in ep. 13. His face and lips drain of blood and his hair starts to turn white.

DFQCâs hair also turned white during the Battle of Two Tribes. First he was weakened by his battle with Lady Chidi, then Lord Dong, Supreme Liyuan and the entire High Council of Shuiyuntian ganged up on him, separating his body and spirit and imprisoning both with the Haotian matrix. It also turns white when he is possessed by Taisui in ep. 36.
Back to Supreme Liyuan. Along with the others in the Heavenly High Council, he poured his spiritual energy into creating the powerful magical seal of the Haotian matrix 30,000 years ago. Liyuan is one of Lord Dongâs peers, and he and Lord Dong likely worked especially hard to seal DFQC. The process was so draining for Lord Dong that he has been in seclusion since then, leaving his son Yunzhong in charge. Liyuan managed to stay out of seclusion but his hair hasnât been the same since! It used to be black during the scenes where he enters fatherhood but now seems to be permanently white. (Assuming Danyin and Jieli were born shortly before the Battle of Two Tribes, this would make them around Changhengâs age).

Cultivated spirits
XLH is a special case and has lived three lives in LBFAD (In her third life, she tells Changheng in ep. 35 that she remembers her previous two lives). In the first, she aged ânormallyâ as above after being born to immortal parents. In the second and third of her lives, she cultivates directly into adult human form from a plant spirit form after cultivating for a period of time. This is what generally happens for plant and animal spirits cultivating into human form in Xianxia.
In XLHâs second life, she was an orchid plant in the mortal realm for 28,500 years or less (or so Siming told her). Time runs faster in the mortal realm, where a few hours in the immortal realm is equal to a few months in the mortal realm. Then Siming brought her to Arbiter Hall, cared for her, and she transformed into human form! At the start of LBFAD, she is 1,500 years old (as she says in ep. 2) and mentally a young girl on the brink of adulthood. She then quickly matures through the drama.
In XLHâs third life, DFQC meticulously cared for her orchid form so well every day that her transformation process is much shorter! (the drama doesnât specify how long but it took ten years in the novel). After transforming this time, she retains the memories of her previous two lives, and is a mature and responsible goddess with the appearance of a woman in her early 20s.
Lived experience
The lived experience of both DFQC and XLH was interrupted early. DFQC was aged only ~9,000 years when he was imprisoned in Haotian tower. XLH was similarly aged when her tribe was massacred and she was reverted back to a plant spirit with no human form. The child actors for both were 11 during these tragic events. XLH re-emerges 1,500 years prior to the start of LBFAD, then frees DFQC in ep. 1. Thus compared with other âyoungâ characters like Xunfeng and Changheng, their total lived experience is much less, and they are most comparable (and compatible! :D ) with each other.

I'm not going to cry over finishing a big fic- I'm not going to cry over-
Fuck it, I'm going to cry when I post it Thursday aren't I? Or maybe before when I post it here.
;-;
To be stupidly sentimental and migrained and hurty I am so very glad that I wrote this fic, that I fell into this silly, delightful, bizarre, wonderful crossover. That somehow you all found it something worth reading too and found me not just on ao3 but here to be along on this ride. That I have so many more stories to tell.
Onward and forward to the next adventure, darlings, and may it be just as delightful!

So, a little bit about the translations of the names and titles that we meet in the first episode, not including the legend at the beginning, haha.
These are the words that I think it was important to translate or not to translate. At least once, so that people like me get it better, lol.

So, the title of the series itself. èć
°èŻ CÄng LĂĄn JuĂ© I hate how they translated it. "Love Between Fairy and Devil". No, no and no. This translates as "Parting of the Fairy and Devil". Or "parting" can be replaced by the word "farewell". But the most interesting thing is that the translation doesn't include the full names of the characters. This includes the word "cang" dark blue; deep green; ash-gray from the name of Dongfang Qingcang. And also the word "lĂĄn", which translates as orchid. And juĂ© as "to bid farewell, to say goodbye". This adds an additional meaning to the title, right? Dark blue orchid to bid farewell.

çäșŹ Yujing. If I had known right away that it translates as the Jade Capital, it would have been a little clearer to me why so much attention is paid to this stone in the series. Because its significance would be more obvious. I confess, I didn't know about the importance of jade in the Chinese mythology of this genre.
(also çäșŹ Chinese words, meaning that the Taoists called Heaven where of Service; refers to the Fairy are; refers to Royal Park in)
æ°ŽéČ怩 Shuiyuntian. Translates as "Water clouds". And again, if I had known about the presence of the word water in the name, it would be easier for me to understand why they have so many water pavilions and fountain palaces. So I think you need to familiarize yourself with the features of the genre to understand this better.

ćžćœæźż Arbiter Hall. Oh God. That's what I clutch my head about now. How could it be translated like this?! It killed the whole meaning for me. A very important moment! Siming translates as the god of fate, the keeper of fate. This is the God in charge of human life. Yes, it can be translated as a proper name. But Siming is not just the name of the master, it's her role, position. Therefore, then the guys are surprised that the master is a woman, because Siming is usually a man.
And although it can be translated by many different ways: Master of Fate, Controller of Fate, Deified Judge of Life, Arbiter of Fate, Director of Alloted Life Spans, and Director of Destinies, it's always important to emphasize the word "fate". And not just leave the word "Arbiter".
I think it's better to translate it as "Keeper of Fate Palace" or even "Arbiter of Fate Hall" or something like this. Otherwise This greatly interfered with the correct perception of the story and confused.

ä» Immortals and ä»ç Fairy realm. This translation made a very big confusion for me, because it seemed that the Shuiyuntian's people are immortal, but at the same time we are told that the true immortal is only Dongfang, and the Moon Tribe seems doesn't belong to either mortals or immortals. And here again it's important to learn the history of the genre.
In this case, immortals can also be translated as celestial or divine. These are people who live on the ninth cloud or among the clouds. The Moon tribe are also immortal, but they have left the heavenly capital.
I believe that for a better understanding of the difference it's worth translating it as the heavenly world and the celestials. This would be less confusing and more understandable.

ä»ć„ł Fairy. It's important to understand the difference between the European image of fairies and the Asian one.
A little lecture.
Originated from Chinese mythology, to describe persons of high moral character, intelligence and extraordinary, healthy, elegant to behold, and with extraordinary abilities, immortality of the woman and the high status of God. In the context used to describe looks pretty good, dignified and beautiful, delightful woman. In many minds, also refers to the appearance is not beautiful, but the temperament of someone charisma of women.
Western fairy is a fairy tale or myths and Legends of one of the female spirits or elves, is often described as a supernatural or preternatural spirit thereof. Fairies are generally described as having a human outer body with magical power, which originated from the inability to research folklore. Although in modern culture, even though they are often depicted as young, sometimes winged, A diminutive humanoid creature, but they are with the initial human expression are completely different. The English wordâFairyâis sometimes also can be used as the elves, the dwarfs, the gnomes and goblins, and other various shape close to people or having supernatural creatures in General. In such a case, the "Fairy" will be translated into elves. (Sorry for the translation from Chinese without correction, huh).
