Okay Iā€™m going to say this and Iā€™m going to say this once.
I do not like how the relationship with Jamieā€™s father was handled in season 3.
If they wanted to go the route of forgiveness they absolutely could have. If they wanted to go the route of his dad going to rehab they absolutely could have. Those are not inherently wrong or bad. Itā€™s a show about forgiveness and I get that. Itā€™s a comedy and Jamie is not the main character - I get that too.
My issue is this: the show went out of its way on multiple occasions to show just how violent and abusive James is. Just to give a few examples:
Repeated physical abuse
Repeated verbal abuse
Planning, funding, and likely pressuring the sexual abuse of his 14 year old son (a minor and below the age of consent in both The Netherlands and the UK regardless of the age of the girl in the red light district)
The willingness to beat Coach Beard (basically a stranger to him) with a metal pipe in a 3 to 1 fight in a back alley which could have realistically resulted in his death (and calling Beard ā€œsonā€ right before the final blow)
Jamie literally gave up his dream - a job as a professional footballer on a top hometown team - to leave the country on a trashy reality show just to get away from his father. The show traced a large portion of Jamieā€™s issues back to his relationship with his father. Not all of course - but that was a big theme of his growth and development.
So even if we entertain the notion that this stint in rehab was successful and James is sober - thatā€™s great. Thatā€™s a storyline I wouldnā€™t mind hearing - IF we had the appropriate time to show it. But the thing is, we didnā€™t. This season was disjointed and rushed in many ways - and Iā€™m not complaining - I still loved it. But if theyā€™re going to tackle a topic this serious, they need to do it right. They need to be clear that alcohol was not the only problem James had and that sobriety does not absolve you of accountability. As important as it is to portray the message that all human beings can change, including addicts, it is equally as important to show the serious work that addicts in recovery put in to address the hurt that they caused through their addiction. It is not easy work to battle addiction and to mend relationships - sometimes part of recovery is accepting that you canā€™t mend things with everyone youā€™ve hurt and that is the right of the victim to decide how they feel.
We were shown none of this. What we got instead was:
A speech from Jamieā€™s mom about how he is still amazing despite his dad while still somehow crediting Jamieā€™s talent to his dadā€™s abuse
Ted telling Jamie to forgive his dad as heā€™s mid-panic about his safety and his dadā€™s location
Ted making a point to say the forgiveness was for Jamieā€™s sake, not for James - which was ALMOST good until they ruined it
Denbo and Bug suddenly supportive despite being just as violent as James in 2x09
James suddenly in rehab for 0.2 seconds
Jamie reaching out to his dad via text despite having no idea his dad is in rehab - something that is realistically compromising his physical and emotional safety
A quick clip of Jamie bonding with his father before the season/series ends for good
The reason I connected with Jamie so intensely from season 1 was the shared experience of abuse from my father. I want to be clear that I know Iā€™m projecting - thatā€™s what fandom is - and I in no way expected the show to end exactly as I wanted. However, this is what I would have liked to see as 1) an abuse survivor 2) a licensed therapist and 3) a person:
The message that you can heal without forgiving those who hurt you OR that you can forgive them and still not allow them back into your life (ESPECIALLY if it compromises your safety)
The message that sometimes people donā€™t change for the better and you can grieve that relationship while still fostering healthier ones elsewhere.
An emphasis on support systems and chosen family when someone doesnā€™t have the reality of a parent or partner getting better (we saw this with Bex seeking out Rebecca and Rupertā€™s assistant)
Instead of Man City suddenly cheering for Jamie, which felt insanely unrealistic, having the cheers of Richmond fans drown out the boos and verbal assaults of the Man City crowd - further emphasizing that despite the pain he has attached to Man City and his father, he has a home with Richmond.
So to wrap up this very long rant, I feel very disheartened by this part of the season. I still love Ted Lasso and always will - there were so many parts of this season I absolutely adored and wouldnā€™t trade for anything - but I feel that they dropped the ball on this one. Most people donā€™t get to repair relationships with abusive parents. Is it possible? Of course. Is it important to depict that it can happen? Absolutely. Itā€™s a show about forgiveness. But they didnā€™t need to do it like this for Jamieā€™s storyline. They could have kept the speech about forgiving James for Jamieā€™s sake and deleted all of the rehab/texting afterwards. I still wouldnā€™t have been thrilled but it would have made more sense to me in context of the show. And it would have meant a lot more to me as someone whoā€™s father is unlikely to ever stop being a risk to my safety.
This just felt bad. Jamie Tartt had one of the best arcs Iā€™ve ever seen in media and he deserved better than that.

Thinking about when i studied counselling at uni and they straight up told us that cbt has negative outcomes for many people and shouldn't become a standard for care, all talking therapies seem to have the same efficacy as each other, many psychologists think therapy is ineffective altogether, serotonin and dopamine don't work like that we just act like they do because pills that prevent their reuptake help people*, all diagnoses are a socially created (and enforced) map that shifts and changes with time and culture, and any one person could have been diagnosed and treated differently by myriad different doctors based on luck and social factors
Shame its practitioners don't think so

As it faces serious questions about its handling of Mohamed Al Fayedā€™s sexual abuse, workers at luxury department store Harrods are preparing to strike over Christmas. Hundreds of retail, restaurant, kitchen and cleaning staff at the are balloting for strikes to start on 19 December, right in the middle of the storeā€™s busiest season.

So the one reason to go to Arkansas is to drive through a town named "Flippin," where everything sounds like a euphemism. Flippin Fire Dept. Flippin School. Flippin Police. Etc.
While that does sound charming, I don't know that justifies a trip to Arkansas

Reducing Fire Hazards: The Importance of Regular Hood Degreasing and Maintenance
Tumblr media
Fire safety is a critical concern in any kitchen, especially in busy commercial settings. One of the best ways to minimize fire risks is through consistent kitchen exhaust hood cleaning and degreasing. Regular maintenance of the exhaust hood system removes built-up grease and contaminants, significantly reducing the chances of ignition and ensuring a safer workspace for everyone.
Why Kitchen Exhaust Hood Cleaning is Essential for Fire Safety
In a bustling kitchen, the exhaust hood and ventilation system work constantly to filter out grease, smoke, and odors. Over time, grease can build up inside the hood, ducts, and filters, creating a potential fire hazard. Regular hood degreasing and kitchen exhaust cleaning help prevent this accumulation, keeping the system operating efficiently and safely. This maintenance is a vital part of any fire prevention strategy, especially for commercial kitchens.
The Importance of Regular Degreasing and Maintenance
Routine kitchen exhaust hood maintenance provides several advantages beyond just fire safety. It can extend the lifespan of your exhaust system and improve air quality within the kitchen. Here are some key reasons to prioritize regular hood cleaning and degreasing:
Minimized Fire Risks: Removing grease buildup reduces the chance of fires starting within the exhaust system.
Enhanced Airflow: A clean exhaust system allows for better ventilation, improving comfort for kitchen staff.
Energy Efficiency: Clean exhaust hoods operate more effectively, potentially reducing energy costs for your business.
Professional Kitchen Exhaust Hood Cleaning Services
While some kitchen staff may try to handle cleaning themselves, hiring professional kitchen exhaust cleaning services ensures a more thorough and effective job. These experts have the tools and experience to clean every part of the exhaust system, including areas where grease tends to accumulate. This not only helps you comply with local fire codes but also gives you peace of mind, knowing your kitchen is safe.
Professional services can create a cleaning schedule tailored to your kitchenā€™s needs, whether itā€™s weekly, monthly, or quarterly maintenance. They also provide documentation of each cleaning, which is crucial for meeting regulatory requirements and maintaining insurance coverage.
Signs That Your Kitchen Exhaust Hood Needs Cleaning
Recognizing when your kitchen exhaust hood needs cleaning is vital for maintaining a safe kitchen. Here are some signs that itā€™s time to schedule a professional cleaning:
Visible grease or residue on the hood or filters
Smoke lingering in the kitchen longer than usual
Unusual noises or reduced airflow from the exhaust fan
Challenges in passing fire safety inspections
Addressing these signs quickly with thorough kitchen hood cleaning can prevent more serious issues and help keep your kitchen safe.
Protect Your Kitchen with Regular Exhaust Hood Cleaning
Routine kitchen exhaust hood cleaning and degreasing are essential for reducing fire hazards and ensuring the safety of your kitchen. By investing in professional cleaning services and maintaining a consistent schedule, you can protect your kitchen from fire risks, improve air quality, and keep your exhaust system functioning smoothly. Prioritizing regular cleaning not only ensures compliance with fire safety regulations but also creates a safer and more efficient kitchen for your staff and customers.

I still mask because I can't avert my eyes from the obvious signs that it has never gone away since 2020. Like, I'm often not even good at noticing subtlety IRL, but these signs are not hard to find. People are in denial.
AND I still avoid eating in restaurants because eating is the one thing you have to take off your mask for, and I am not doing that in some indoor and enclosed environment where hundreds if not thousands of people have been unmasked that day alone.
Also just... thank you so much for making this blog ^^;;

i know all the recent recalls seem weird like they're everyday, but you gotta take people being off track and lack of training at best and people just not giving a shit at worst. there are companies providing next to no time to actually train employees because it's make money serve customers or make the thing as fast as possible no matter what with no room for the time for "silly regulations" and employees who are NOT trainers being told or expected to train new employees, which does not happen and if it does it's on the fly and doesn't always go well. next thing you know this company isn't doing things properly and their product is recalled for listeria. that company is a shit show on wheels and their product is recalled for salmonella. the next company has workers who aren't paid enough and don't care, the next one has workers that weren't trained correctly if at all, the next company is understaffed to hell and back, the next company has management on site that has never heard of a serve safe certification in their life, some times people aren't mentally present, it's not like we just came back off the heels of a global event that took many lives someone was family to or anything. did we forget about the housing crisis all the sudden? employee mental state matters too. some companies are figuring that out the hard way. the government isn't "recalling all the meat" or some shit for some agenda. some times the work places producing it are just a shit show because money is being put over safety by those at the top.
there's no one to properly train because companies do not want to pay for it. firing employees who need raises or refuse to cut corners, or for other stupid reasons like being late every now and again, (surprise, people have kids or family emergencies or are just stuck in traffic. shit happens beyond their control.) was a problem before, but now that corporate (insert company here) is trying to regain the horrendous amount of control they never should have had that slipped away from them in the pandemic when everyone had money from another source and competing with other companies these are the ingredients for a mess, we're just finally feeling the effects of it. of course there are recalls. look at your own work place, we know this is a problem, why are people surprised when the regulations that are supposed to prevent this from happening aren't followed and somehow shockingly it ends up in the thing those regulations were put in place to avoid?

After recent TikTok posts about mandolins and their dangers, I really want an episode (or even just a scene) in 911 season 8 where Clipboard Buck gets obsessed with giving everyone chain mail gloves for their mandolin usage.
Probably after one too many TikTok cucumber salad inspired mandolin calls where they have to find the finger.
Chimney doesnā€™t even own a mandolin and Buckā€™s like, ā€œmy niece lives there, you need a chainmail glove!ā€

Understanding Ventilation Power: Selecting the Ideal CFM for Your Kitchen Exhaust Hood Installation
Tumblr media
When it comes to kitchen exhaust hood installation, one of the most crucial factors to consider is the ventilation power, measured in cubic feet per minute (CFM). Choosing the right CFM ensures your kitchen remains free from smoke, grease, and odors, providing a safe and comfortable environment. This guide will help you understand how to select the appropriate CFM for your kitchen exhaust hood, enhancing both functionality and compliance with safety standards.
Why CFM Matters in Kitchen Exhaust Hood Installation
CFM, or cubic feet per minute, measures the volume of air a hood can exhaust in one minute. The right CFM is essential for effective ventilation, determining how quickly and efficiently smoke, steam, and grease are removed from your kitchen. An inadequate CFM can lead to poor air quality and increased fire hazards, while an excessively high CFM can be unnecessarily noisy and energy-consuming.
Calculating the Right CFM for Your Kitchen
The size of your cooking area and the type of cooking you do significantly impact the CFM requirements. For standard cooking ranges, a basic rule of thumb is 100 CFM per linear foot of cooktop. For example, a 30-inch range would need a hood with at least 250 CFM. For more intensive cooking methods, such as grilling or frying, you may need a higher CFM to ensure adequate ventilation.
Factors Influencing CFM Requirements
Several factors influence the CFM requirements for your kitchen exhaust hood installation:
Cooking Style: Heavy cooking styles like frying or grilling produce more smoke and grease, requiring higher CFM.
Kitchen Size: Larger kitchens may need more powerful hoods to ensure complete ventilation.
Ductwork Length: Longer duct runs can reduce efficiency, necessitating higher CFM to maintain performance.
Hood System Installation
Proper hood system installation is key to maximizing the effectiveness of your kitchen exhaust hood. Professional installation ensures your hood is correctly positioned and ducted, optimizing airflow and ventilation. Experts can assess your specific kitchen layout and recommend the best system and CFM for your needs, ensuring safety and compliance with local regulations.
Benefits of Choosing the Right CFM
Selecting the appropriate CFM for your kitchen exhaust hood offers several benefits:
Improved Air Quality: Efficient ventilation removes contaminants, keeping the air fresh and clean.
Enhanced Safety: Proper ventilation reduces the risk of grease fires and improves overall kitchen safety.
Energy Efficiency: Choosing the right CFM ensures your hood operates efficiently, saving on energy costs.
Noise Reduction: An appropriately powered hood operates more quietly, creating a more pleasant cooking environment.
