Pulmonary embolism⁣ ⁣ ⁣ What is Pulmonary embolism?⁣ ·         According to the NHS, pulmonary embolism is a ‘blocked blood vessel in your lungs’.⁣ ·         Pulmonary embolism may be life-threatening if treatment is not given immediately.⁣ ·         Symptoms include:⁣ o   Pain in chest or upper back⁣ o   Difficulty breathing⁣ o   Coughing up blood⁣ o   Also, one leg may be impacted by pain, redness and swelling. This results in a blood clot, also called deep vein thrombosis (DVT)⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Treatment⁣ ⁣ ·         An injection of anticoagulant medicine is given before any test results.⁣ ·         ‘Anticoagulants stop blood clots getting bigger and prevent new clots forming.’⁣ ·         If positive, the suffer will continue with the anticoagulant injections for minimum of 5 days. Nabbed Photo Booth Frame - So around 2:45 am I’m checking for new orders before my next rounds and I notice two people walking off down the hall with the photo booth frame I did for Respiratory Care Week. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)⁣ ⁣ ⁣ What is COPD?⁣ ⁣ ·         According to the NHS, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a ‘group of lung conditions that cause breathing difficulties’.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ·         COPD includes two conditions:⁣ o   Emphysema – the air sacs in the lungs are damaged⁣ o   Chronic bronchitis – inflammation of the airways (long term)⁣ ⁣ ·         COPD gets worse over time. This affects the suffer activities but can be controlled with treatment. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Symptoms⁣ ⁣ ·         The symptoms of COPD:⁣ o   When active, breathlessness increases⁣ o    Persistent wheezing⁣ o   Chest infection⁣ o   Persistent chesty cough with phlegm⁣ ⁣ ·         The symptoms get gradually worse if treatment is not involved.
