RE5 time babey lets gooo
okay so we did mods (of course we did)
i got rid of the gross green filter with a mod thingy (i will credit at the end) and the screenshots are so fun, they give me two copies of each photo i take? one with the green filter and one without?? absolutely wild to see them side by side idk why capcom put that filter blegh
Tumblr media Tumblr media
look at that side by side !! wooooooo absolutely wild
Tumblr media Tumblr media
look at this side by side !! woahhhhh
(i changed chris to leon because i dont want to play as chris but you dont get to play as sheva until its your second playthrough and so to manage i switched it to leon, it's slightly more bearable) (no hate to chris i just dont wanna play as him) (i love chris but i wanna play as sheva) (do you catch my drift) (when the option is between sheva and ANYONE and im forced to not play as sheva it hurts me) (love you mr. redfield no hate)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
look at her look at her look at her look at her look at her (i had to point my gun at her to take these shots and it made me feel bad) LOOK AT HER UNIFORM SHE IS SO STINKING CUTE the lack of outfits for her hurts me (i love you modders, thank you for all that you do - this isnt a complaint aimed at you guys at all) IM ABOUTA LEARN HOW TO MOD TO GIVE THIS GIRL SOME MORE CLOTHES
also the leon mod is absolutely WILD - the people behind this are so cool, it replaces cutscenes and also his voice lines are in there?!? he calls sheva ashley which i think is fun, but when you throw out commands its leon saying them and i think that's so awesome
the mod didn't work for all of chapter 3 tho? but then boom chapter 4 and it worked again so that's fine. i also can't get long sleeve leon to work but im pretty sure its something on my side, re5 literally had an application error when i first tried to boot it originally (before the mods) and then i looked it up and apparently its a widespread problem so... let's blame capcom :)
okay now here's where i messed up the mods (this one was my fault 100% watch the order in which you download shit fellas)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
leon head on chris body is scary it's like when shaggy drinks that potion in scooby doo 2 monsters unleashed and he gets really buff, this is like buff shaggy i dont like it
Tumblr media
hi josh :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hi jensen ackles :3
i have more photos to post so im just gonna add to this in a reblog?? and then it'll be one big long post - that's probably a bit hectic but it keeps it organized
also shout out to the amount of people that have joined my game love that people are still playing - that one person who showed me where all the fun treasures were, you're awesome sorry i got lost on the map
mods used:
Leon RE4 Definitive Edition - kreedyk
RE5 GE - Sheva BSAA SOU Outfit - EvTital
Resident Evil 5 - Awakening - True Colour - QTmodz

Hey there, are you new to the Resident Evil fandom and want to know more about this weird blond guy with the sunglasses? Maybe you only play Dead by Daylight and want to know what his deal is without having to comb through a 20+ game series for his appearances? Are you trying to write a fanfic and can't think of anything for him to say, outside of constantly proclaiming his right to godhood?
Then have I got the resources for you!
(don't trust the fan wikis. They do things like claim that a man with one of the most Irish surnames in the world is Italian, just because his parents have some implied organized crime connections)
Ok now that you're in here I will reveal that the real purpose of this post is to spread the good word of original flavor Wesker, who I think is a really interesting villain with more complexity than people might expect. It doesn't look like Capcom is ever going to remake code veronica, which has a significant portion of his story, and there's a ton of his lore locked in a rail shooter most people never played, so I'm here to help fill in some knowledge gaps.
To start off, here is Wesker's Report 1. This is Wesker himself summing up the first 3 games for you, with glorious footage of the original playstation graphics:
youtube
Don't panic it's actually only 22 minutes long, the rest is an untranslated interview with the game directors.
Bam boom, you know what Wesker was doing from 1998 through 2000. Now let's step back in time a little and talk RE 0, the prequel game that explains how the outbreak that started it all happened in the first place. This is the story of Wesker and his buddy Birkin's past mistakes coming back to haunt them with a zombie-leech army (the past mistake in this case is disposing of your mentor's body improperly):
youtube
Stepping even further back in time we have Wesker's Report 2, which talks about his early years at Umbrella. This was only ever released in Japan, but fans have done a translation and gotten it voice-acted. This video has both the report and a compilation of all Wesker's scenarios in Umbrella Chronicles (the rail shooter this-is-the-story-so-far game):
youtube
It's long because it includes the gameplay footage. If you just want to read the report instead, google project umbrella Wesker's Report 2. You can also find UC's cutscenes separately on youtube. Wesker's scenarios are Beginnings, Rebirth, and Dark Legacy. UC condensed a lot of stuff and made some…odd story changes (especially to RE 3. Poor, poor RE 3), but it also added fun new stuff for Wesker to do, like beating up his creepy masochistic ex-boss. Godspeed, Wesker.
Now rumor has it that we are going to get Ada's campaign added to RE 4 remake eventually, but we don't have it yet, so until then here's their interactions from the original (lovingly updated to HD by fans):
youtube
RE 5 was Wesker's last (chronologically) and probably most significant appearance in the series, not to mention the version of him that's been everywhere since, but I'm not actually going to talk about him. To my eyes, RE 5 Wesker is a fun villain in his own right, he just isn't Wesker. He feels like a completely different character to me. If you've watched these videos you might have noticed this already.
RE 5, if you wish to give the writers the benefit of the doubt, is a story of Wesker having a complete mental breakdown after finding out certain retcons truths about his past. He's not usually like that. For one thing, count how many times he mentions being a god in any of this footage. Go on. I'll wait.
Classic flavor Wesker is calm, cold, and calculating. He loves pitting enemies against each other and then running off with the spoils. He does very little grandstanding and he's not all that hammy (campy? definitely, but not hammy. there's a difference). He's pragmatic to a fault, and a master at shifting his plans around to work on the fly. He also doesn't give a flying fuck about eugenics, or "saving the world", he's in it for power and money and building better monsters just because he can. There. I said it. I feel better for it.

As an avid DMC fan, what would be your recommended play order of the games for someone looking to get the full DMC experience? Most people online seem split between starting at 3 or 1 (though most agree on skipping 2).
Most? You mean there's someone out there actually recommending you play 2? Terrifying.
If you want the DMC experience, buy the Devil May Cry HD collection (contains 1-3 Special Edition, but really it's more like 1 and 3 Special Edition) and take your pick:
Pick DMC1 if you want to see how the series started. It's not fully Devil May Cry yet and its former identity as a Resident Evil 4 prototype is still somewhat recognizable, but you'll appreciate what eventually became the foundation of modern day action games.
Pick DMC3 if you want to see Devil May Cry once it really found itself. This is the game that made Vergil his own character (beyond just being a brainwashed boss in DMC1), introduced Lady, styles, Devils Never Cry, basically all the finishing touches to Devil May Cry's identity. Do note that I recommend that you install a "style switcher" mod when you play 3. Usually you have to select a style at a statue, but the Switch version lets you swap styles on the fly like in DMC4 and 5, and this was implemented in no other versions. lol.
After you go through your first pick, you can then play the other, before moving on to 4 and 5.
DMC4 is... kinda rushed, and also came out in that odd 2008-2010ish time period where Capcom games like Resident Evil 5 were completely normal and then they'd randomly do something racist (for DMC4, a new dark-skinned character just turned out to be an old, light-skinned character in a magic disguise, which... yeah), but it did introduce Nero, as well as had the most complex ever Dante whose skill ceiling was so high (despite not having a moveset as huge as DMC5 Dante) that many hardcore players still swear by DMC4's combat system. DMC4 would also lead to the creation of DMC's "sister" game, Bayonetta.
Finally, there's DMC5, the latest game released in 2019 after a 10 year hiatus in which absolutely positively no other DMC games came out whatsoever. None. I mean it.
I recommend you play this last, since 5 is a love letter to the entire series from 1's enemies being V's summons to its reenactment of Dante vs Vergil to even making the Devil May Cry anime canon to the games by making Morrison a cast member and including a cameo from Patty. The game also sets up Nero as the main protagonist for the series going forward, and he really comes into his own in this game.
That being said, 5 is actually really good as a starting point for new players. It's got very accessible difficulties, well-balanced enemies, a robust training mode, no puzzles (you could really get stuck in those, I know I did) and even an autocombo mode that automatically makes combos for you that you can turn on and off at any time without even pausing. If you've always been intimidated by the bar for mechanical skill and by DMC's reputation for difficulty, 5 offers you good training wheels and won't compromise your DMC experience for using them. You can start here just fine and work your way backwards.

So, something that I find both odd and really really shitty is this. Ever since the remakes of Resident Evil 2 & 3 released, it seems like the original versions of both games just longer exist and that really isn't right if you ask me. I've read threads on reddit from people saying how hard it is to find the original versions of both games and how a lot of them have had to resort to pirating the games because Capcom makes it so hard to let people buy the games legally. But, the reason I find this odd is because...
Tumblr media
Ever since the remake of Resident Evil 4 has released, you can still buy the original version of the game! You tell me how that makes any sense at all! Even RE1 is still available for purchase on Steam as an HD remaster, why couldn't they have done this for the original versions of RE2 & RE3? It's not really right that I can legally buy and play the original version of RE4 but I'd have to either pirate or emulate the original versions of RE2 & RE3 and that I think is something that Capcom really needs to fix. It's not just a PC thing either. The NIntendo Switch has one RE collection that has the Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil 1 HD remasters and another collection that has RE4, RE5 & RE6 but notice how there isn't a collection that includes RE2 & RE3. I for one would love to play the originals just to see the differences but Capcom apparently doesn't want people to do that.

So Konami just had it's first Silent Hill related...anything that wasn't a pachinko machine in...hold up
*checks notes*
10 years! Holy shit it's been that long...and no, P.T. doesn't count...kinda. Anyway, to make up for it (and probably for Contra: Rogue Corps) they decided to go ALL OUT with this franchise with 3 games, a movie (oh goody), a interactive series (could be fun?) and lots of merch.
First up is a remake of the classic Silent Hill 2. While I rather had seen a remake of the first game (that technically got a re-imaging on the Wii but still) as I think SH2 still holds up really well it is cool to see the game with next-gen graphics.
If they keep the rest of the game intact and add more stuff and locations (and fix the combat) this might be, not a replacement but a good version of the game to enjoy. Especially because the only proper way to play the original SH2 is either the PS2 version, the PC port or the Xbox version with extra content added. Don't go for the HD Collection on this one guys.
youtube
Next up are 2 brand new SH games: Silent Hill Townfall and Silent Hill F. Nothing is really know about these yet (except that F takes place in 1960's Japan) so we only got 2 teaser trailers but they look pretty dope either way.
youtube
youtube
While I still remain skeptical of Konami and the last 10 years where they messed up the SH franchise, screwed over Kojima and Metal Gear and gave us only that aweful Contra: Rogue Corps game and new versions of Pro Evolution Soccer, I REALLY hope this will be the comeback this franchise desperatly needs. After all, Resident Evil manged to come back after RE6 so why not Silent Hill?
I wouldn't mind visiting that dreaded town again. I can still see it...in my dreams...Silent Hill...

I don't think I've posted about this here but I stream on Twitch every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 8PM (UK time).
I used to stream animation and music stuff but have current shifted to game stuff for job reasons and we are currently in Spooky Season.
Spooky Season started in August but it is essentially me playing horror/horror-adjecent games until the end of October with a heart rate monitor since I don't even usually attempt to play games of the genre.
I've finished all of August games and have had a lot of fun so far so come through and chat, chill, laugh and lurk while I explore these games.

hey fam! since i know you have played the resident evil games, I thought I would come for your expertise. I am considering playing the games, and I know they've remade some of the older ones from the 90's and that there are also branch/spin offs from the main storyline. I was wondering if you could tell me the order to play them that follow the main storyline, if it's not too much trouble
Well, the chronology of the main storyline is in numerical order, so you start with 1 (called just Resident Evil (it has an HD remaster so pick that one)), 2, 3, etc... until RE 8. So, if you wanna play the story as it was originally told and don't mind playing older games, then that's all you need to know to start.
Now, the remakes are like a retelling of the originals because they change some details (like making Leon extremely cute), but they still keep the main core of the story (they don't alter the main course of events of the originals... at least for now), so you can just replace them (2, 3 and 4) with their OGs, and then go with 5 to 8 normally.
Personally I'd go with the second route, RE2Remake is too good not to play it, I like it way more than the original tbh. But, hey you can also just play all of them too if you have time lmao My first RE game was RE5 so if you like the story and characters, in the end you still get enjoy the story no matter in which order you play it.
I hope this was helpful and let me know if you end up playing them!!
